Have you ever encountered a game so scary that just watching someone else play it is enough to scare you shitless?
Welp, I did the absolutely horrible idea of binging someone's VOD of playing Shipwrecked 64 at around midnight. And now, I can't sleep, and I am just shaking and watching a random episode of Code Lyoko to calm me down. (P.S. Watch EP 42 'A Fine Mess'. Perfect coping tool for horror imo)
#shipwrecked 64#shitpost#I love horror <- I say completely terrified of indie horror games#like I can basically watch most modern horror movies and even some analog horror series without even feeling mildly afraid#but the moment I just watch someone play a horror game#not even play just watch#i get shaken like a fucking ragdoll#p.s. if yall want to calm down from similar experiences like mine#watch code lyoko ep 42 a fine mess#funniest episode of the series imo and best coping tool when it comes to horror#oh btw i love s64 don't get me wrong#i love horror games im just a big fat scaredy cat with no barrier for immersive horror#for those who are wondering yes i am talking about pastra's vod#idk why it just fucking scares the shit out of me

I have always been and will always be a Memory Blank apologist, but I do concede that with the gifts of maturity and retrospection it is obvious the whole episode was just a flimsy excuse to add a merchable logo
(which they then failed to make any good merch of, as previously discussed on this blog dlghjkdsljfk)
#Tyto's DP rewatch#you can't tell me Lancer's rant about meteors (''they would drill through your tiny skulls like they were WET TOILET PAPER!!'') isn't one o#the funniest lines in the entire series hfjshgk#and there are definitely some jokes that haven't aged as well or just aren't as funny as they were when I was a kid#but ''wow! you must really like me! ... orrrr you're nuts. you're not nuts are you? 😟'' still made me laugh really hard#and Fakeout Makeout number 2 is SO UNBELIEVABLY CRINGE but it's also SO OVER THE TOP that I was cackling like a hyena#so yeah I love the logo and Sam is a 14-yr-old edgelord so it's totally in character for her to design it. so that part never bothered me#and while the actual plot of the episode is kind of shallow and dumb (they beat Desiree the EXACT same way as last time lolll)#it's still fine as just a small episode to kick off the season imo#shows us a little more of Sam as an individual character. introduces us to the gang's love of horror movies.#has a cheesy what-if/pseudo-time-travel plot that satisfies my easily amused trope-loving brain.#what's not to love about it tbh

Not enough people post in tags anymore... especially in small fandoms. You do not have to post high quality series analysis or reviews or gifs or anything big to join the fun.
Just blast your thoughts and share the best / funniest / most insane moments in your opinion like it's a pretty stone you found at the beach.
No srsly, sometimes the best posts are those with wild ass theories, random commentary, silly memes or just aesthetic posts or favorite screenshots. Cool links or fandom content found outside of tumblr.
Also especially for the QL fandom... little pet peeve. Somehow QL fandom visual posts kind of boiled down to just kiss or NC or maybe cute scenes. Often I read especially gifers that they don't find something to gif in an episode when there is not much romance or erotic going on. But imo often there ere still so many other cool scenes. Like action scenes, insane emotional scenes, any cool or clever shots and especially funny scenes. I wish to see some more in the QL fandom tags besides the kisses and NC and fluff. (ye I know I want to learn to gif too... still on my list. 3D class is eating most of my time and energy atm)
But long story short: get some more movement in the tags, even if they aren't as popular as others. Small fandoms are neat too.
#the amounts of times I get greeted by my own posts when I check into tags days later#but seeing the amount of like some posts get there are people who aare lurking in the tags#which is fine if that's what you wanna do. I just feel like most people just don't dare to post something#I once was one of them before I started to not giving a damn anymore#everyone here is a bit obsessed and insane and it's your blog you can do whatever you want in there with the block button as protection#.... i hope yall know you can go (click) into tags. the space where all the tagged posts land on tumblr... it's like forums or chat rooms

Who is your favorite character in the original Loonatics Unleashed?
I have very vague memories on LU and havent seen it years (I cant find a version available to me sadly) But from my memory I would say....

(Ignore Ace and Rev, I liked them too but this aint about them)
Danger probably stood out to me because he was just the funniest imo and kid me loved the funny characters the most (also its prob because the episode where a cow(?) landed on his bed made me laugh for some reason)
Looking back on it I wish they did more with his backatory with Pinkster, I mean he kinda did a selfish thing when it came to adoption situation and from my memory when it turned out Pinkster was a bad guy they kinda make it seem like Duck's selfishness led to a good thing? I cant remember since the episode ended when he was arrested and its never brought up again(?) Like there is so much for this series I wish they did and this is like- one of the few things they could of made it somewhat intresting. But alas... I can only dream 😔

FOUR: it's just so funny, guys
When last year I was doing my listenthrough, at a certain point I stopped including mentions of how funny a particular episode was because... of course they all were. In fact, there are only a couple of episodes that I could name as having plotlines that, IMO, aren't funny and yet even those episodes have some of the most classic joke sequences in the series.* If I sat here and listed every good joke, I'd basically just be reproducing 3/4 of the scripts.
*Qik has a not very funny plot anchored by a not-funny-at-all character, Nancy Whatsherface, but Le Bear Polar is legitimately iconic. Kuala Lumpur even JF doesn't like very much, but Arthur's steward training sequence is basically perfect.
He's just so so good at including the humor in the narrative, is the thing. I did a post last year about Ipswich that was about how good JF is, or rather grew to be, at plot, in particular seamlessly integrating plot and theme and humor. The thing is, even in episodes that aren't as brilliant as Ipswich, the humor is always amazing, and as is obvious given his simultaneous and ensuing comedy career in other formats, he just really gets comedy. But I'd argue that while lots of writers are good at writing jokes, he's really good at writing the RIGHT jokes and putting them in the RIGHT storylines in the mouths of the RIGHT actors.
I think it comes down to a few things-
He's SO good at mining existing situations and limitations for comedy. (Also for plot, which is separate but certainly related.) Obviously this would be a skill that would serve him in good stead in his sketch comedy career, but it's especially good here because instead of circling a sketch around a particular joke, the jokes have to be part of the broader plot, and so he has a more constrained field of search and takes the maximum advantage of it. According to an interview of him on a podcast, the entire conversation with Qik where Douglas convinces Martin that their plane can, in fact, do a polar expedition is essentially JF's replay of a conversation with his dad about whether the kind of plane he chose for GERTI to be back in Ipswich could do a polar expedition- he wanted to do the plot but was worried he'd hamstrung himself by defining the plane he was using, but instead he was able to take that exact limitation and make the actual situation far funnier (though again, I think Qik as an episode has limitations). (Incidentally, while on that subject I want to take the opportunity to appreciate his attention to detail overall. Recently I've been reading Admiral Cloudberg's series on air disasters and I recognized a shocking number of terms from lines that were essentially just him setting the scene for unrelated plots. No idea how overall accurate all of his plane-flying asides are, but the parts that matched up are super cool especially now that I know what a lot of it means.)
At the same time, he has such a great imagination and knew how to cleanly insert the products of it into an episode- obviously he repeats some standard sitcom beats (I think that Rotterdam, one of the funniest episodes, escapes classic status just because "characters get confronted with the cooler versions of themselves" is such a well-worn sitcom-episode plot) but even when he does he can be really original. Not sure where he got the idea of strafing a children's party with a hard-candy bomb and killing a koi from, but it was a stroke of brilliance. He's also surprisingly good at taking previously-written imaginative/comic sequences and putting them very deftly into his scripts- basically the whole "can you imagine 100 otters" scene is from a blog post and you can see exactly how he adapted the exact phrasing but it doesn't matter because he made it fit seamlessly into the new scene and into the overall plot. On a similar note, he's great at using his imagination to come up with different kinds of joke styles- for example, the running joke of them playing games in the flight deck, but then going wild with a) what kinds of games and b) how to mine maximum humor from them. There are just so many classic, brilliant games and he's so good at it that he'll even construct whole episodes around series of games (like Limerick).
He's so good at writing for particular people's voices! He's mentioned that for JFSP he will sometimes call the actors in to do a "silly voices day" and then write sketches based on it, and it's such a cool concept and also so clear how good he is at it. For some TV sketch shows, it can feel like someone wrote a sketch without knowing who in the cast would be available for filming and then they cast whoever would fit the parts- JFSP basically never feels that way, and on the sitcom side, neither does Cabin Pressure. He doesn't nail the voices immediately on day one but it's pretty dang close. And when he goes on to write jokes, not only do they work perfectly for the actors' ways of speaking, but they're nearly always funnier for having been said by that particular actor. The words "you mulled it?!" in context are already funny, but it wouldn't have been as hilarious if not for Roger Allam's impeccable delivery. JF knew he had a five star cast and knew exactly how to take advantage of their gifts- and, of course, he'd had plenty of experience writing for himself and so knew how to give himself jokes and dialogue that would sound perfect coming from his mouth.
The storyline thing... I mean, functionally, it comes down to what I was saying above about how good he is at combining plot arc, themes, and comedy. It's so good that it can be both hard and satisfying to dissect exactly how it was done, but suffice it to say, I think that's the thing that's his real talent. This week I had a few exchanges with a fellow fan on here about some limitations I have noticed in his sketch comedy- nothing major, but I think the thing that elevates him from being a good-to-great sketch comedian to being a sublime comedic-plot writer is his deftness with construction. Lots of people are funny, lots of other people are good at creating well done plots that incorporate theme, he's fantastic at both and at their integration and it's a really special gift.

My controversial danmei takes are…
1. I don’t ship Mu Qing and Feng Xin and I’m almost always annoyed when it’s included in a tgcf fic. I just feel like 100% of their relationship is arguing, so when they have a functional relationship, they feel ooc and when they don’t feel ooc, I’m just annoyed and wondering why the hell they would want to be with each other. (The one exception was No Paths are Bound, but that might be because it’s a 152 chapter fic that starts with them just hate fucking, but then actually does the work to make you believe that can develop into something more)
2. MDZS is such a hard story to get invested in. I still haven’t finished the books because I keep getting bored in volume 1. Even the Untamed was hard for me to get into, though I eventually forced myself through enough episodes at the urging of a friend to get hooked. I own all the volumes, I have read bits and pieces from further on, I have finished the Untamed and the donghua, but I still can’t force myself to get through volume 1.
3. SVSSS was described to me on multiple occasions as the funniest of MXTX’s novels, but I don’t think it was any funnier than the other 2. It’s definitely more lighthearted (most of the time) and written to be more of a comedic story than a serious one, but I didn’t feel like it was any more humorous than the other stories. It felt like pretty much the same level of humor across all 3 series.
(I have only ready MXTX so far. Still a danmei newbie, but working on changing that. I just ordered Ballad of Sword and Wine. Very excited to check that out)
Okay before I go off I just need to tell you I love Ballad of Sword and Wine SO MUCH!!! It’s so good you’re about to have the best time provided you can keep the eunuchs straight.
1) I am also not a Fenqing shipper. I have dabbled in Peiqing, it’s rare but it just feels so correct to me. Bisexual Pei Ming is my tgcf agenda. Tbh I just think Feng Xin’s character turns into a hot mess over the course of the series to the point I just want to banish him by the end. Like he had so much potential as a second love interest in a bl and it got squandered.
I guess part of the Fengqing shipping maybe comes from that. There’s a lot of romantic angst that can be drawn from the Xianle days.
2) MDZS is actually my favourite of the mxtx trilogy. HOWEVER after reading Remnants of Filth and Ballad of Sword and Wine, they do similar themes a lot better. I think mdzs is probably a good starter danmei if you’re into that game of thrones politicking vibe. It’s kinda basic in its execution though. The donghua was an absolute joy and I loved every second, the book is fun to read to see the bits censorship stole. Mxtx is not a good smut writer though (imo).
I can’t do the Untamed I’ve tried watching it like 3 times and tapped out each time. I just can’t vibe with it.
3) I feel like I’m going to get burned as a witch for saying this but… I personally don’t find mxtx funny. Of course there are parts of her books that are comical, but overall. Svsss is to me what mdzs is to you, like I’ve seen the donghua and it got me intrigued but I’m finding the book really hard to care about. I’m going to give it one more whirl, just to force myself to read one transmigration story before Mistakenly Saving the Villain comes out.
#I am having such a good time with these confessions#everyone send me more!#ask me anything#controversial danmei opinions#mxtx#mdzs#svsss

Dungeon Meshi Anime Review, Season 2, Episode 18 review
One of the funniest episodes from the original manga (though not the funniest, IMO), it's wonderful to see the shapeshifter story animated.
Good overall, but you can certainly tell the budget isn't here... Understandable, of course, but it's always nice when you can't tell it's happening.
In an episode like this, I find the flashing backgrounds and bright colors less jarring and annoying because the tone is much less serious, but because of the great color design and mood of Dungeon Meshi, I still frequently find myself wishing that they'd invested a little more time designing period-appropriate ways to indicate their gags, rather than speed lines and bright pastel colors.
I also think, as funny as it is, that they are overdoing things with the animation at times.
The jokes in the manga were already super funny, in an understated manner! Sometimes it's okay to plus it, and add extra emphasis on the jokes, but most of the time I find it unnecessary, and even jarring.
The wild rotating shot of Laios alternating with the dog faces was funny, but was it needed? Isn't a man leaping through the air on all fours with his tongue hanging out because he's "deep in character" pretending to be a dog funny enough?
Things like this continue to be sticking points for me. It's not bad, it just keeps making me go "this is ok, but the manga was better." Overall my feeling continues to be that the anime might have been an all-time great series, but instead it's just adequate, mostly great because it's building on the already incredible manga. One thing specific to this episode that I didn't like was the CGI snow effect. It was best in close-ups, and it had some really good parts, like particles getting bigger and blurrier as they came closer to the camera.... But something about them just looked bad to me, and I wished they'd used something more traditional and hand-drawn, rather than modern particle effects.
Dub was good, though I felt like Laios' dub voice was perhaps overdoing the "bit" of acting like a judge on a cooking show, rather than just giving a sincere performance...
Other than that, no real complaints. All around solid.

Care to share your thoughts on how Arcane ended? I'm dying to talk about it with someone!
(Also, I sincerely apologize that this is the first ask I've sent you)
Hey Bay! Thanks so much for the ask! I love hearing from you :)
I have so many thoughts about the Arcane ending. Let's go episode by episode, because there's just so much to unpack.
Episode 7 is my favorite episode in the entire series, I think. I have no notes. Ekko has been my favorite character since season 1, and I was thrilled to see the show finally give him the focus he deserves. Painting the mural of Vi, bonding with Heimerdinger, the doomed romance with the alternate version of Powder that allowed him to understand Jinx better--my god. So good. The scene where Ekko and Powder were dancing was definitely one of my favorite scenes ever.
And poor Jayce--my dude spent the whole episode in the trenches. But I thought the writers did a really great job with him this episode. His leg injury mirroring Viktor's, realizing that maybe he overstepped a bit too far with Hextech, all that fun stuff. The funniest part of the episode, though, was when Heimerdinger and Ekko were all prepped to go home, and then at the last possible second, Heimer LEAPS out of the wild rune and is like "Be back in a jiffy, my boy :)" and then gets himself blown up. He couldn't have done all that stuff before the process started? Poor guy. He exploded twice in the span of 40 minutes :(
All in all, loved the episode. I'm home from college, so as soon as I finished watching it, I SPRINTED up to my little sister (who also watches the show) and started gushing about how well-written it was.
Episode 8 is where things went a little off the rails, IMO. I was so glad to see Mel again, and was very excited to see where they went with her plot line. (My League of Legends knowledge is limited strictly to Arcane, so I'm probably missing out on a lot of lore here, which is why I Did Not Understand What Was Going On.) Act II had this whole big reveal where Ambessa had a third kid, and I got the impression that that kid was the person who kidnapped Mel? But we never got into that, or why Mel was so attuned with the Arcane. That really disappointed me. I LOVED her new look, though.
Jayce and Viktor interacted again after the attempted murder, and something LGBT happened between them. It appeared that their whole conflict now revolved around the idea of perfection, which Viktor claimed he could create with the help of the Arcane. And Jayce is all like, "My partner (no homo), you're making a bunch of mindless soldiers with no personality and stuff." And then they fight. Jayce was very unfair to Mel this episode, so I'm glad they had a heart-to-heart later.
Now onto the issue of Jinx, Vi, and Caitlyn. Jinx was done so dirty this act omg. Also, there was literally no mention of Isha??? What happened there? She was completely blown up, but Vander/Warwick walked away totally fine? The only real indication that she ever existed was Jinx's grief, but even that seemed sidelined in favor of Vi and Cait. That sex scene was WILD, guys. I would have liked to have a scene where Cait apologizes to Vi for the way she acted, and how she got so caught up in the idea of avenging her mother that she forgot to view the members of the Undercity as people. BUT WHATEVER. The sex scene will do. If Mel and Jayce get to have one, Cait and Vi do too. Hashtag love wins.
On to Episode 9. What a time to be alive. The fight scenes were superbly animated, as always, but I felt there was something lacking. The central conflict wasn't really well explained (but I was also watching this at 1 am, so my brain was probably fried). I liked the scene where Caitlyn and Mel team up, but Ambessa's death was a bit wonky to me. There was a lot of stuff about foxes and wolves that did't really leave an impact on me.
Ekko kicked ass, as always. My dude knew what he was doing. Viktor and Jayce were being gay in the Hex Vault. I did really enjoy the scene where the mage that saved Jayce's mother's life was revealed to be Viktor. I'm a sucker for those kinds of plot twists. And Viktor's monologue about Jayce being the only person in every timeline who helps him realize that total perfection was meaningless had me kicking my feet and giggling. I desperately want to know where they ended up after destroying the wild rune.
Vi and Jinx--this was where I was most disappointed. The show is supposed to revolve around their relationship, but they were sidelined so hard in favor of other things. And I was so mad about Jinx's "death". Just when it seems that things are turning around for a former villian-turned ally character, (cough Shane cough), they end up getting themselves killed for no reason. Vi could have so easily moved off that ledge. Jinx's death (or not death, it wasn't really clear) felt very last minute. Their whole relationship this season has been about the two of them accepting that they both have changed, but that doesn't mean they can't love each other in a new way. Jinx's death felt like an easy way to avoid all these lingering feelings. And Vander was just in his beast form the whole time, with no indication that his mind was still there.
Overall, I still think Arcane is a spectacular show, but Arc III felt a bit rushed and stilted. It was a wild ride, but it left me a bit unsatisfied. I'll still miss the show and the characters a lot.
Thanks for sending this in again, Bay! Feel free to pop into my ask box any time :) I loved writing this, and would love to hear your thoughts as well. Hopefully my ramblings are understandable. Have a great day!

rapid fire list of my smosh-related opinions:
noah grossman needs to have been phased out 3 months ago. people acting like FREELANCER contracts are so fucking ironclad and that's why smosh couldn't do anything are so disingenuous. they phased out saige in 2022, they could've very easily done the same to noah -- they just didn't want to.
eat it or yeet it was fun for the first few episodes, but they ran it to the ground when they realized it was a hit with the locals/casual viewers and they needed those numbers. it's SO absurd that they made 89 episodes and it got really boring, really fast. (i'm glad anthony got to be on it before they got rid of it tho)
i've always found garrett annoying and unfunny for the most part. he's maybe said one or two funny things in all of my time watching smosh and i will never understand how some people stan him or find him attractive.
to be clear even if they replaced garrett as host on eioyi, it would still be boring and stale to me.
i miss kimmy being on camera. she wasn't the funniest and the smiley sunshine persona can be a bit much but she was one of the better sketch actors imo.
i do not want the og smosh games cast back. it's also weird they keep bringing up smosh on their ogsog content. i'm glad they appear to be on good terms with ian and anthony but unless there's ACTUALLY a future collab in the works they need to stop namedropping smosh so much.
i don't necessarily miss saige on smosh but i do miss damien and saige as a couple.
i don't care if people don't like anthony or don't find him funny, but the way a LOT of fans (mostly on twitter and reddit) blatantly disrespect him, the fact that he started smosh, and him literally reuniting with his best friend, just bc they got rid of the unscripted series on main really pisses me off. also he's not to blame for EVERYTHING wrong with smosh today.
HOWEVER, that being said, i do believe there was a better way to transition smosh main. they could've had anthony do a speed run of all of their unscripted series to give them a proper goodbye, and THEN uploaded the sketches.
EBE was a hit or miss, but when they did it well they did it REALLY well.
other than ian, anthony, and finnerty, syd and olivia were their best sketch writers.
people who are genuinely mad that they have memberships now are overreacting. i get that paying for anything sucks but if you're an adult with a job in a first world country $10 USD a month *maximum* really isn't that much. also, they're independent now, that's just the reality of capitalism.
people who act like smosh is above any and all criticism genuinely terrify me. they're a youtube channel and a company, and as audience members we're allowed to critique them.
the old smoshcast was better than smosh mouth, but i might be biased bc ian did host most of them.
agree to disagree was a good series, but they botched it when they started using more serious prompts which caused a lot of viewers to lose respect for some of the cast for problematic opinions.
i used to like olivia but considering she was only in 30 videos last year and she really doesn't seem like she cares anymore, i don't get how they expect any of us to still care about her. also she posted something in support of israel on her story, but hardly anyone knows about it.
i love the guy but shayne doesn't need to be in every video. i get that he brings in the views, but jesus christ.
smosh pit theater is their best pit series, followed closely by beopardy.
i find a lot of their defy era series on pit eg sleepover, show with no name, put it in my mouth, etc to be really boring and i’m glad they got out of defy and sarah whittle was more in charge of pit.
i didn’t like angela at first but i love her now.

Can you post your MI movie ranking again? Not sure if it was ranking or viewing order but either way you’ve convinced me to watch these
Okay what my suggested viewing order is:
Ghost Protocol (MI4)
Rogue Nation (MI5)
Fallout (MI6)
Mission Impossible 1 (MI1)
Dead Reckoning Part One (MI7)
Ghost Protocol is the weakest of this batch of movies, but it is still in my opinion an incredible on-ramp. I always pitch it the same way, but GP is just a Leverage episode with a blockbuster budget. It's the soft-reboot of the series, it has some of the best team chemistry, it's funny, it has two of my favorite moments of pure physicality in the entire series. It's a great intro.
Rogue Nation is like the Platonic Ideal of an MI movie. It's the Ethan-and-Benji movie, and their chemistry is truly amazing. The Turandot sequence is so fucking glorious, and Ilsa Faust is great AND SOLOMON LANE IS OUR BEST VILLAIN BY FAR. In GP the villain is a non-entity to drive the plot. RN has some fucking baller character writing. Also has the funniest moment in any MI.
Fallout is a perfect movie. I could say more but there's no point. Fallout is a perfect movie. It's gorgeous. It's emotional. It's tense. It's character-driven. I love it.
Mission Impossible The Original is going to surprise you. It's a dense, tense, psychosexual thriller and explains......... so fucking much about Ethan Hunt and his lingering trauma. I adore it. Except the action movie ending is stupid, but right before the action movie ending, it gives you a hot sexy thriller ending, so it's fine.
And you need the context of MI1 to truly get Dead Reckoning, because it is a movie obsessed with the legacy of the series. It's really fucking good. But save it for last.
What about MI2 and MI3? If you think you would enjoy a dumb stupid flashy hilarious action movie that is the diametric opposite of every other MI movie, watch MI2. It's fun.
I cannot recommend watching MI3, I think it's absolutely terrible. MI2 is stupid but at least it has an identity as a movie. MI3 is a confused mess that throws all continuity out the window and almost breaks the idea of Ethan Hunt imo because it doesn't know what it wants to do, what to say, it's pointless.
My personal MI film ranking:
Fallout
Rogue Nation
Mission Impossible 1
Dead Reckoning Part One
Ghost Protocol
Mission Impossible 2
placeholder for the worst possible iteration of Dead Reckoning Part Two
Mission Impossible 3

Hi, everyone!
If you're looking for something to do this holiday weekend besides watching Christmas specials, may I suggest binging Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous?

It's cringe comedy at its best, imo, and today is the LAST day you can watch it on Netflix!
For that reason, I wanted to share my top 3 episodes of the 2013 MTV show and why I love them:
1. Zach Stone Is Gonna Be an Actor
This is the ONLY episode Bo Burnham wrote himself, and my god is it hysterical and heartbreaking in that way that Bo does so well.
Bonus shout-out to Nelson Franklin playing the student film director. I ADORE him, especially on Veep as Will, the verbally abused underling to Furlong. Nelson is also 6'5 like Bo!

2. Zach Stone Is Gonna Make a Sex Tape
This is probably the funniest all-around episode of the show, and seeing Bo "preparing" himself for sex with Christy (including randomly strumming on a guitar) is a joy to behold.
The Jackson 3! Scotch and Soda! Zach's hands on her ass...so much to love lol.
3. Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous (No, Really) and the Pilot
This is a tie because, again, Bo wrote these episodes with fellow cocreator Dan Lagana, and they do SUCH a good job of introducing who Zach is and making you cheer for him by the end of the series.

The Dr. Pepper being warm and Zach talking about 9/11 and Facebook really feel nostalgic now. Remember when our phones looked like that? Haha
Runner-up episodes: The Zachelor (this parody of reality shows is SPOT-ON plus Greg gets a win of sorts lol); Recording Artist (Bo's ringtone songs are all brilliant).
Bonus fun fact: Zach's parents are apparently mirror images of Bo's IRL mom Pattie and dad Scott per Dan in this interview! Crazy 🤯

I had never met Bo's parents and we'd cast these people. And Bo's parents flew into Los Angeles and they came into the writer's room. And it was like...it was remarkable how similar they were in build.
Anyway, I hope this list inspires you to give the show a chance. It's well worth it and a hilarious alternative to the same-old holiday specials!
Enjoy the last day of Zach Stone on Netflix, and keep it here for more comedy fun! ✌🏼🐔

probably a silly question, but what version/series of TMMT are your blog and characters (like Tomiko) based off of? I want to have a better understanding of your setting so i figure a good place to start is with watching that :O
oh 100% Rise of the TMNT, there’s really no other version of TMNT that has grabbed my attention and love as strong as Rise has
which, like, i get people saying they love Tomiko even without seeing the show/movie, BUT!! YOU SHOULD WATCH IT TBH. It’s fun! Silly! It’s makes me laugh hysterically! The characters are charming! The animation is Studio Trigger level good!! IT MADE ME LOVE DRAWING AGAIN AFTER A 3 YEAR LONG POST COLLEGE BURNOUT. You certainly don’t need to watch it to like Tomiko, but if you like her you might like it! If it weren’t for the show she wouldn’t exist. also OK granted if you’re a diehard tmnt person it might be hard to get used to the character changes, splinter especially (imo he’s the funniest character in the whole show so i’m biased), but they’re really fun and fresh. Also I’m not in the habit of recommending things I don’t fully love with my whole soul.
anyways just try watching until the “fast and furriest” episode, that’s the one where i realized i was gonna be down horrendous for this show forever tbh (first season and movie is on netflix, both seasons on paramount+, you CAN pirate it I don’t run your life. also you can watch the movie on its own buuuuutttt it’s a richer experience if you watch the show first)

Hello, can I ask from this ask game :
https://www.tumblr.com/threecheersforinking/677824836625694720/anime-ask-game?source=share
For Ikoku Nikki and Skip & Loafer?
Thanks 🌻
sure!! thank you for asking, this is such a fun game, love it
(spoilers ahead for both of the series)
ikoku nikki
favorite character: makio and asa
favorite arc/episode/scene: this is going to sound a little predictable but the last arc will always be my favorite. or maybe i would say it started with the mapo eggplant chapter and from there on, i can't chose my favorite moment. love everything
character i think is underrated: kasamachi and daigo. absolute love them and think they are such great characters in term of development and construction. and, in sake of the story, they add so much to not only to the main characters but to the overall narrative.
character i think is overrated: none. in fact i think people should love every character from it
favorite ship/pairing: hmmmm none? i really like makio and kasamachi, absolute love their dynamic, but it think that it would be wrong for me to wish them to be together romantically, for both of them
something i love about the show/movie: there are a lot of things that i admire about ikokki. it all starts with the writing, that i think it's phenomenal and so, so well constructed. you can see how much love and thought sensei put while writing every chapter, even the ones that were short. also, i absolute love the self discovery that every characters goes through in different aspects of their lives. they all have a story to tell and a new story to live and i think that's beautiful — and also a little hard to write because sometimes we authors want to focus more on the character's past rather than their future and i think sensei manages to do both beautifully. makio and asa's relationship is also one of my favorite points of the manga
skip to loafer
favorite character: i think it's pretty clear thinking about how many character analysis i made about him but shima lmfao and mitsumi as well!!
favorite arc/episode/scene: oh boy, chapters 46 and 53 for suuuuuuuuuure!!! the "break up chapter" will always be one of my favorite chapters of all times. i think it's so beautifully written and so well executed, not only in relations to the story itself but if we take it out of context, it will still work well and be a very solid chapter. i find it gorgeous how the importance of platonic love was elevated and how much they care for each other. now chapter 53 is a direct response to that, imo. it's a recall for what shima was feeling in the break up but also a response to all the feelings he started to build up after it, slowly building an arc for him to understand his feelings and his preferences. just fenomenal
character i think is underrated: ririka. ririka is an amazing character and i think we're going to see way more of her story that will prove that to us. i don't accept all the hate she receives, just proves the point of those who hated her inside the story. yes, she does have flaws, like everyone else. and remember: she suffered a big trauma and had to keep it inside her for a long time, without the proper time to understand it
character i think is overrated: honestly i don't think there's a character that i don't like here so imo everyone should be very loved
favorite ship/pairing: yuzumako!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i do love shimitsu a lot too, think their relationship is gorgeous, be it platonic or romantic. love mikamukai too, they are the funniest
something i love about the show/movie: i wrote a very extensive thread about it but i absolute love how skip to loafer focus a lot on "i love you as a person", elevating a lot the importance of platonic love. it's so well constructed and so well applied inside the narrative that it's so easy to fall in love with every character and their flaws. love them so so much
thank you so much!!!!!! 💛

hello! for someone getting into transformers, what do you recommend? I have mtmte/LL and exrid that i'm reading through but i've heard mixed reviews on the comics that come after that (optimus prime and taao i think?), and I have no idea what's good in the realm of cartoons and movies. you have good taste in general so i thought i'd ask!
oh word? swag i hardly ever get these kinds of ask
Optimus Prime is worth the read solely because of the aircee content LMAO but it's also kinda forgettable imo. i mean it's pretty short though so it won't take long to read if you just wanna say you did. TAAO is like, okay. it has its moments but some of the writers are fucking unbearable and that is definitely reflected in the series. if you go into it prepared that some of it will be mega epic cringe it's okay, but i personally wouldn't want to re-read it.
personably i have a soft spot for Transformers Prime for cartoons because it's the first one i watched. it's kind of an acquired taste, but you get used to the odd style & redesigns after a few episodes. also Knockout :)
Animated is also a classic but also kinda Acquired Taste. it also doesn't have theee most satisfying ending. victim of cancellation iirc. but it's a fun watch! be prepared for 2000s cartoon vibes and wildly different designs for a few characters (shockwave is the biggest one)
the most recent and good cartoon is Earthspark, i am in fucking love with Elita and Arcee got to be in it and she looks so good i straight up almost cried and i think they should kiss. what else is there to say
watch G1 when you're already deeply integrated into the franchise so you can most truly appreciate and laugh at the many many animation and coloring errors and how fucking funny everyone is every single second. OP is such a cunt sometimes and it's hilarious. also had a really fun movie made for it in '84 or so, that's where the "i have nothing BUT contempt for this court!" line came from
oh and if your eyeballs can tolerate it, BEAST WARS. god i need to actually finish that myself someday but genuinely one of the best and funniest cartoons, i have so many beloved clips from it. prepare yourself for spider tits and whatever the fuck is going on with Tarantulas ever. also it makes no fucking sense at all but it's still good
hmm. movies. honestly! there aren't that many good ones LMAO. the whole bayverse sucks ass but they can be fun if you're stoned or something. the recent Bumblebee movie was really good, and i have heard good things about TF One but I haven't seen it yet so i can't personally vouch for it. all my friends who have seen it say it's good tho! i'm way less well-versed in tha movies honestly lmao
good luck out there have fun avoid the freaks!! sometimes a fandom can just be your friend group you already trust. Transformers is a huge franchise and there's a lotta weirdos who are into it, but it's a lot of fun when you've got a safe space (lmao i know) to yell about it in :) godspeed soldier
