Saw an ask about an apparent problem of people drawing Qiu whiter than he is and whitewashing. With that in mind, I think you should hold the same standard for Tamarack for artists that draw her darker than she is to outright black. Tumblr and Twitter in general have an obsession with coloring traditionally white/pale characters the complete opposite race or adding details like kinky/coiled hair and see no issue with it but raise hell the moment a poc is one hue lighter. It erases their identity just as much as everyone says whitewashing does but everyone constantly falls back on the "only whites can be racist so changing their identity in art is okay!!" pipeline

Tamarack comes from a German family and is white, so please take the same level of importance when artists "blackwash" her or any other character in your series.

You know generally, I don’t like to use this blog to as a place to act like I’m the best, most correct person in the world and respond to things where I’m simply telling an anonymous person they’re wrong. I’m just someone who has people following me because they like the stories this company makes.

However, this is something that people should know. If our POC players draw our characters having a darker skin tone than they do in-game and/or give them a different hair texture, that’s alright. I’ve fallen off on reblogging stuff on Tumblr but it’d still be liked or reposted on Twitter.

Whitewashing means far more than the literal act of a single individual making someone look white in a fanart. If a trans player wanted to headcanon a cis character was trans, that’s one thing. If a cis person decided to take the only trans character for miles and insist they are, in fact, cis, well that’s another matter entirely. Your experience with your race and your experience based on sexuality or gender aren’t the same things, it’s not a one-to-one comparison at all. But can people who don’t get it at least start to see how there can be a difference in impact here?

The people who are oppressed in this country aren’t hurting you by trying to enjoy the media that most of the time intentionally excludes them. POC weren’t the ones dehumanizing white people in horrific ways. The overwhelming majority of stories and representations of heritages out there have been and still are white people’s already. Anyone reading this who was thinking along the lines of what’s in this ask need to get comfortable understanding and accepting that. And if you don’t, maybe you should find another game because I’m not going to “protect white identities” from being drawn as people of color. In fact, I think it’s actually really nice if our characters are fun and comforting to people of color so much so that they’d like to imagine those characters being included in their own culture. I think it’s strange that someone would be angry about it.

i hope this alright to ask and i’m trying to phrase it as politely as possible: i’ve seen you reblog/commission art that portrays you in a few really different ways. (and draw yourself in a few different ways.) do you like being drawn as a skinny anime girl/do you prefer being drawn that way? generally i see people say skinny-fying anybody in fanart of them is rude. i’m curious about your thoughts on it, bc you’ve very well spoken and i’m sure you’ve thought about it before

whenever i come across as overly skinny in a commission, it's usually not because i told them to make me skinny, but because i didnt go out of my way to ask them to draw me large.

while it's not something im ashamed of, it is something i often feel trapped in. to be clear, i dont mean how fat i am, i mean how Large i am. im 6'1" with a big head and a broad chest, and those are things that will remain true about me until i die-- not only because dramatic cosmetic skeletal surgeries like that dont exist, but also because even if they did i'd have to cut out parts of myself to fit into a smaller vessel, and that feels wrong.

there's a sort of existential dysphoria i have about my body. i dont think it's an ugly or bad body-- in fact i think ive gotten pretty hot in the past 2 years. i just dont like that it's my only choice forever. imagine if you were in a perfectly comfortable position on the couch, but then someone came along and forced you to hold that position for 82 years, and then encased your body in concrete to be sure you cant move. that's kinda how it feels.

most of the skinniest versions of me (most of the anime ones, like the typing one i posted last night and the one i use for the visual novel posts) specifically come from Skeb, where you can only contact the artist a single time and then you have to wait for your commission without contact. in that limited frame, i like to put across the parts of myself that i actively enjoy, rather than the parts of myself that i am typically obligated to present.

do i feel bad about this omission of facts? yeah, i guess i kind of do. it makes me feel like im betraying my fellow beautiful big bitches out there. but i think that if i were to agonize over what a piece of art im commissioning of myself and for myself might mean to other people before i start to spend my money on it, i think i'd rather just never post them.

Cowboy— Happy 2 year anniversary! 🎉

Firstly, I haven’t seriously drawn in years and the anniversary fanart art prompts offered an opportunity I couldn’t resist. It was truly a challenge to be consistent, imaginative, and accept mistakes as they come. There are definitely ones I’ve pushed through, but this gives more opportunity to revisit and improve!

I was always hesitant to share my work out of fear, but I’ve never seen so much support for things I thought so little of. Thank you, everyone! 💖 I look forward to doing my part to support such a wonderful community!

Remember that rlly old Morro fanart i talked about but never posted the completed version of? Yh, i finished it today

Rant under the cut+a clearer morro picture

DUDE I HATE IT. LIKE MORRO LOOKS PERFECT EXACTLY LIKE HOW I IMAGINED HIM BIT EVERYTHING ELSE FEELS LIKE IT DOESNT LOOK RIGHT OR FEELS LIKE TOO MUCH BUT I TOOK SOOOOO MUCH TIMEEEE DOING IT.

It took me AGES guys you don’t understand and even after that you can barely see some of the details.

You can see morro better in this image, where i took away the background, chains, tentacles and a few other things.

When colouring his face i made a slight mistake before realising it could look like a sick scar so now morro has a scar that could be caused from whatever on his face.

I also forgot his green streak so that was quickly added too.

Morro’s clothes took a lot of time (Morro was drawn months ago, and i did the background today, so somethings I’ve forgotten) but i believe i used Pinterest to find i thinkkk Japanese male clothing to base it off of and then used my own twists to its actual design. Morro’s clothing consists of different shades of green and teal, and well as gold and yellow to represent Wu and his effect on Morro, such as the golden rope around his waist that was given to him by Wu. The silver-ish thing on his chest was placed there and inspired by the ones that men and women may wear on their chest, and on the cloth that lays between Morro’s legs (with the wind like patterns on top of the skirt-like garment (PLEASE someone tell me what it is actually named i tried genuinely)) at the bottom where it looks like am arrow is a skull like picture.

Morro also has a brown skin tone in this because i head canon him to be both east and south asian. Also I put Morro is very ‘flowy’ or baggy clothes because he’s the wind elemental and likes to freely feel the wind.

Overall the scenario if this image was Morro still being trapped by the preeminent, but as he is known as the second to only the preeminent, he us held in high standards and strength with all the other cursed ghosts, almost like a prince (Respected but is also someone who is constantly threatened, as expected). Morro is also depicted to be alive, showing him to be trapped and forever affected by her influence for the rest of his existence. But also show his innocence and naivety when this is before he ever died and was groomed to the person we know today.

And for the love of God, ignore the hands and feet i do not know how to draw them 😭

Been a while since I’ve drawn anything but guess what

A fanart! For the fic “Missing”by @zoiaeras !

Honestly it’s more of how I imagine Peter’s design to be rather than a fanart, cause usually when I do a fanart I either draw a scene or as I’ve lately been doing draw what I imagine the cover would look like (to be fair I kinda drew the breakfast scene? )

So this is more like a very small character sheets?? And the design is wrong a bit (his hair is supposed to be a bit longer but I only ingrained the choppy hair part)

Tried to keep the blue and red of his spidey suit in, but darker and paler to show the effects Gotham had on him

Honestly the fic is amazing! and the pacing is a chef kiss, and the comedy is on point for me and what I love the most about this is that it’s doing other stuff rather than just sticking to the norm of peter - Gotham crossover

Other characters are present, there is a plot being made and the characterization makes sense for the life the characters lived, and we’re even out of Gotham and introducing other superheroes to the plot like Superman and the flash and also villains like lex Luther

And what’s fun about this fic is that currently, the strongest thing Peter have is his brain, but he is still stupid outside of building stuff (I love this adorable bean)

My most favorite thing about it is probably the plot point and that things are actually happening with consequences to them that change the status que of the fic

The fic feels like a never stopping train wreck about to happen and I’m so excited to see just how big the crash will be and how sharp the debris left of it are

Honestly I can go on and on about this fic forever but that’s mean more spoiler which is a big no no
