the fun part about being the icarus poster is that so often any ic thought I have is somehow based in canon or could relate back to and make sense in canon. and today's specific thought is Icarus and hoarding behaviors - not like severe ones but ones that are noticeable. and don't ask me where this thought came from but it happened.

cause okay on one hand you have bird. like icarus is a bird-ish, and they are known in canon to have bird adjacent behaviors. Stereotypical, birds are / can be known to hoard things like food and stuff of that sort.

on the other hand, which would hypothetically contribute significantly more to this, is how Icarus grew up + how their life has gone. They started out as a prince. Typically, princes have access to a whole lot of things, anything they could want, even. Especially considering who Icarus' father is. After that, they were living with their mom and brother, where they had *significantly* less access to those things that they may have wanted. Then there's the years they were alone with just Rae and . they probably didn't do great during that. You have when Fable came by, which probably gave them more access to things but not as much as before, and then you have the teenage on the run period. And then the resets and . Then Quixis. Like slowly over the course of Icarus' life things were just incrementally taken away from them. Please look at that and tell me it doesn't make sense for them to start taking everything that they can get and find valuable and not being willing to part with it . like. In my mind this makes sense because they were on the run so long they just- started stockpiling, but at some point its not *just* stockpiling anymore . or something. like okay you go from having everything (for a few years) to something (for most of your mortal life) to nothing (for *multiple* millenia) and then back to something again and tell me you wouldn't start trying to hold only everything you get and hoarding it because you had nothing for *so long* like. I feel like this before quixis this was pretty down low and kinda tame but after quixis it got- not bad bad, but you can definitely tell they're doing it more than they did before - I'd that makes any sense? like I know what I mean .

anyway . I love thinking thoughts and being like "oh that came out of left field" and then cooking and going . "wait." /silly

Ok, this is mostly bc I realized we've only seen Sally being passive, but how is she able to hypothetically rip apart larger puppets limb from limb? (if the captions with Howdy hold water with other puppets)

they absolutely hold So Much water! it's a combination of a couple things!

a) Nightlight!Sally is really Strong. i'd liken to her to a chimp, as much as i hate them. despite being smaller than people, they're absurdly powerful. when it comes to Her, this comes from a mix of hysterical strength and something Else i've been pondering but don't want to solidify yet, so shh dont worry bout it. it's also much easier to tear fleece & cotton/stuffing than, uh, Biological materials.

b) none of the puppets are really prepared for violence? they've lived in an idyllic world where true, visceral violence likely hasn't even been a Thought in anyone's minds. like, you watch videos of people get attacked by like... raccoons or rats and they visibly Lose because they panic! they aren't prepared! they don't wanna fight! so the much smaller creature wins. They Don't Know How To Fight, Or Fight Back.

b.1) also, Nightlight!Sally is still... Sally. she's still their dear friend. i know that if a close friend attacked me, i'm not sure i'd be able to bring myself to do much other than defend/flee. i wouldn't wanna hurt them even if it meant protecting myself. hence why Wally avoids all confrontation with her & can't protect his friends from her. he can't hurt his neighbor.

b.2) there's also the shock factor. imagine you wake up from a pleasant dream to an absolute nightmare reality. Boom, automatically thrown way off your rhythm. then one of your close buddies looks Fuckin Weird, Are You Okay? and other crazy shit is happening! you're freaking out!! then your Close Friend Who's Off is suddenly slashing at you and BOOM, your arm's gone & your entire brain is scrambled from shock and fear and "?!?!?!?!?!". plus, i doubt the puppets know they're full of stuffing. seeing yourself sliced open and white fluff spilling out has gotta be just. so Unpleasant on principle.

her fighting method is attack wildly until the threat stops making noise! it's very hard to defend oneself from it! imagine those cartoon bits where a cat attacks someone and its just a Flurry of Unbeatable Violence

So... I did a thing...! E/rasermic wav..! A/izawa suffering an allergy attack as he comes home to his husband M/ic. (script and voices by me, most sound effects by me, a couple from P/ixabay) It's not excellent by any means, and I didn't change my 'M/ic' voice, only the A/izawa one, but first attempts and all that! I've been working on this for a bit, and decided it's either 'post it' or 'let it keep consuming me', so I'm going with posting!

I'm not a naturally sneezy person, and don't have anything to cause fits, so it might be a bit jumpy, but I tried to do my best to make it flow well! If anyone bothers to listen to this, I hope it's enjoyable and not too rough for a first attempt~~

Naruto Modern Fantasy AU - Bijuu & Patrons

Order and Chaos are two of the oldest divinities and are responsible for the creation of the systems that exist within the Nexus (my world). Respectively, they're famously known for the creation of the Order of Angels & Life (Order) and Hell & Death (Chaos). Other achievements include the Seven Heavenly Virtues and the Seven Sins (Partially out of commission).

At an early part in their life, Order and Chaos formed an understanding relationship that developed into romantic feelings. The result of that romance and their union were the bijuu, their nine (related) children. Very soon after Shukaku was created, they separated and began their long-standing and bitter feud. In addition to their together children, they each have their own offspring, the Goddess of Life and Creation & the God of the Dead (prev the God of the Dead, Death and Decay; alt title as King of the Dead).

In the older days, each Bijuu was worshipped and had devoted followers because they were so important, and at the time were the only minor gods around. Eventually, after the creation of the New Gods, the Bijuu lost relevance and were in danger of fading away. A deal was struck so that they could maintain their form and power but they had to have a patron that they fused their soul with. In rare cases, the patrons are willing participants who offer themselves in exchange for help. In most cases, the patron is an unwilling sacrifice, pushed by devoted followers (or power-hungry men) who want to keep their god alive. In the very special case of Mito Uzumaki who offers herself to keep Kurama alive by making a deal that she'll honor his wishes in exchange for power and safety,,, she absolutely does not follow through. This builds up decades of resentment, especially when he is passed down to Kushina who does the same, which starts off his rocky relationship with Naruto.

In another very special case, Rin, who is forcibly made a patron to Isobu, dies within the early stages of his soul intertwining with hers. Later she is resurrected, as the initial soul intertwining process was botched, and Isobu and Rin's souls are now one in the same. Meaning that instead of switching out consciousnesses like a regular patron and god can do, they share it. After the resurrection, Rin also displays physical features of Isobu such as red sclera and protruding spikes.

Patrons receive their patron god's powers and abilities in exchange for either sacrifices or completing quests/tasks, often they're centered around the patron god's title. For example, Matatabi requires Yugito to exorcise and guide spirits/ghosts to the afterlife. In Killer B's case, him and Gyuuki are just vibing. Gyuuki has a historically good relationship with B's family and all of his patrons volunteered willingly, so he freely exchanges his power. Fuu was unwilling sacrificed, but thankfully Chomei adores her enough to provide her power for protection, even helping her leave her followers.
