I have a project of Eddsworld in mind since july of 2023. It's an alternative universe of Eddsworld were they are chileans. It's just them being funny together, but in Chile, my country.

Needless to say I don't want to offend anyone with this, It's a parody, and I made this for my own fun, just wanted to share it with the fandom. (Seems like people like it, tho!)

I'll share some of the art I've made until now.

I tend to be very awful at having constancy and perseverance with my own projects, so I don't have advanced it very much. (Yeah, it's a bit abandoned.)

Hello, anon! I realise you’ve sent this ask to multiple people, so in the interest of your interest check, I’ll answer your question. I tend to keep musings to hashtags, but as my closest friends here know, I’m an opinionated mouthpiece when given the opportunity. So, I’m going to be honest about my feelings here, since you asked in such good faith.

But for future reference – you don’t need to hide. I won’t bite unless asked. Note: These opinions are my own and not a direct reflection of how others may feel, or the coordinators of these events.

Inu-spiration: No. Mystery-bag art isn’t on my Christmas list, and the same goes for writing. When I want to collaborate, I have options, and those options come with people I adore and admire, and afford me the gift of knowledge. Not knowing who/what/when/where/why I’m being paired and the type of work I’ll create is not in my repertoire of a good time, and from personal experience, participants tend to be laden with stress up until the very last moment. In the interest of peace and tranquillity, it’s a no from me.

InuSecretSanta: My calendar quakes. In the interest of peace and time-keeping, it’s a no from me.

Inuvember Mothership (and somehow FC) Bingo: No. And because you forced me into having to read, re-read and make sense of something that doesn’t make sense, I returned the favour – this is going to be longwinded.

Incoherent: I have to read a lot to get to the meat of what this event entails. My brain is flighty, and I tend to skip ANs on a good day – so when I did just that, I was brought to percentages. So, I have to go back up to the top to understand why those are there. And when I read it all, it’s still not very clear what the aim is here – apart from, of course, competition, competition, competition.

Longwinded: Bingo. A game beloved by many, particularly OAPs and children. It usually comprises of a card and a time and place to meet. This event, so far, has come with 2 announcement posts, neither of which is a bingo card, and an edit (which I’ll get into) to the event itself. As per the previous incoherency issues, neither of these announcements have come from the Inuvember page, and have been spread between 2 other blogs. Having to jump through multiple hoops to find information is a PR nightmare, and I’ve already thrown my laptop out the window because I don’t know where to look. The OAPs and children weep, for the adults don't have the answers.

Exclusionary: This one is two-fold, so I’ve broken it down. -Themes: are, at best, exclusionary. Forcing people into rare characters and rare pairs has pushed the majority of the fandom out of participation within the first 2 weeks. On top of that, the original event comprised of an entire week of whump, which is baffling for so many reasons – so by week 3, there are half a dozen people left who might participate. By the time we reach week 4 – the only one that makes a lick of sense for a fandom-wide event – it’s Tropes, which, besties, no… Whump is a Trope. And as a final hoorah, the event has been amended before we’ve even seen a bingo card. If that isn’t fumbling the bag, I don’t know what is. At this point, we have 3 weeks until November, no Bingo card, and very little time to come up with a Hojo Whump story. – Competition: Ain’t my schtick. Leaderboards, as a concept, are not cute. Fandom is an escapist plain, and with the incredibly niche themes and modge-podging that has to be done to earn points/percentages/whatever, all but 2 people have “lost” their chance to place anywhere. To meet any requirements here, you’d have to give yourself over to the toxic productivity that only a handful of people thrive in. We already have a quarterly competition that happens too frequently for a small, dying fandom, so this portion of the event was unnecessary, ill-advised, and just plain whack.

Transparency/Prizes: There are prizes…apparently. There has been no mention of what they are and should have been announced from the word go. I’ve gleaned that this section of the event may have sprouted from Feudal Connection’s input, considering I've spotted they've answered a few concerns already. From personal experience, I have received 2/8 Winners banners promised from that specific event (which I do not feel to/shouldn’t have to chase, and no, I’m not a special case here), have found it to be nothing but an administrative nightmare from the ground up, and can't compute when suggestions for improvement are met with combative resistance to change. With all that being said, I am 1) not surprised this hasn’t been coordinated/planned properly yet and 2) not convinced that they will be worth the hassle of chasing up when/if these promises are met.

Convoluted: From my wading through multiple blogs and posts, I have concluded this is a Mothership event and bears no real affiliation with Inuvember, apart from appearing on a banner and in a tag. Three separate blogs/events conducting one’s brainchild is confusing at best, and I struggle to understand where FC or Inuvember come into this event other than being guilty by association.

TLDR: From my understanding, previous Inuvember events have been this: 30 days of themes for us to celebrate our love for Inuyasha as a fandom, in whatever way we see fit. This is 30 days of competition to see whose Franken-fic comes out on top. Fandom accolades have never been the aim of my game, so you’ll have to find this very, very particular bloodlust elsewhere. Verdict: In the interest of peace and sanity, it’s a no from me.

Sugar and Spice: Probably not, cause it’s too far in the future for me to say for certain what with having no concept of time. In the interest of refusing to believe 2023 is near, it’s a no from me.

Etc: Fandom is supposed to be about fun. And yes, some find competition and Being Number 1 fun. But I’m tired, I have a child to raise, and I just wanna write/draw my silly little grocery store daydreams and delight over them with my friends. I do not care who is the best. I do not care about stretching myself thin for things that do not bring me joy. And you won’t find any HoW tO WiN aT FaNdOm nonsense here. We have snacks – that’s about it.

Otherkin and the public eye

If otherkin are to be understood and respected, they need to be "popular," to a degree. Walmart doesn't have to sell otherkin merch, but more people have to know about them. This post is me just taking about how that could happen.

Just a note:

1. I'm alterhuman/otherkin myself, I’m part of every group mentioned in this post

2. I'm very interested in numbers, trends, optics, etc, and that's what this post is talking about

3. If this is weird or hard to understand, please let me know and I can rephrase/clarify parts that are confusing

4. I’m really bad at terminology, I’m sorry, it’s never clicked with me. I did my best to get everything right, but there might be mistakes.

As a method to spread awareness of otherkin, I propose a flurry of posts on Tiktok and Twitter that will give a desirable image of the community. I say Tiktok because it lets posts be spread to enormous amounts of people in a very short amount of time, and Twitter because of the way communities are formed on that platform, and because movements across two platforms generally do better.

Points I’d like to make:

1. What should the community look like:

First, I’d like to explain that I’m not interested in censoring/neutering the community. I’m not against the community having an image that in places is unpleasant to outsiders. I just don’t see why the image needs to be unpleasant in ways that aren’t fundamental to the community. To use furries as an example, I’m totally against denying the nsfw aspect of the community. Lots of furries like nsfw, and it’s a part of the fandom that shouldn’t be erased. “Marketing” furries correctly, to me, would not look like denying the 18+ side of the fandom, it would look like making sure that when people see a fursuit for the first time, it’s a pretty fursuit.

Looking at areas where non-otherkin interact with us, I’ve noticed they seem to disagree mostly with the ideas that otherkin are their kintype, that kintypes are involuntary, that otherkin are free to act as their kintype, and that otherkin experience dysphoria. I respect/believe all of those ideas, and in fact I want the community to be more popular so that more people respect/believe them as well.

That being said, I think an image of the community needs to be constructed that is palatable, in the sense that it is easy to understand and spread. If someone says they are otherkin, there should be an idea in people’s minds of what that means, and how they can respect that, and any way that someone’s needs might differ should be simple to address.

Take the transgender community as an example. Though being transgender can be complicated, and there’s lots of room for discussion of that, the idea of the community can be expressed simply as “trans women are women, trans men are men, and nonbinary people are nonbinary.” That doesn’t compromise on any fundamental part of the community, and doesn’t hold the community back by being unclear, hard to understand, etc. There is also a simple understanding of “what to do” when someone is trans, especially on twitter, thanks to threads like this: https://twitter.com/jaysaltx/status/1389683863262310404?s=20.

So, what should the community look like? Here are some superficial things that cause friction:

Not being accepting of ideas surrounding mental illness. Most of the time I see people upset at otherkin it’s because of the way they behave around people with psychosis, dissociative disorders, personality disorders, etc. This could be resolved by explicitly being supportive of people who otherkin are typically thought to harm, and respecting the wishes of people in those communities.

Being super nitpicky/”toxic.” Nine out of ten times I see people who aren't otherkin talking bad about otherkin, it’s because they associate “kinning” with a time on Tumblr where people would get called out/harassed for minor issues, things like friend disagreements or doubles. It would do the community well to be portrayed as a place where if you get something wrong, you are gently corrected/(“educated”) rather than “harassed.”

Liking Danganronpa? I’ve heard people being referred to as “Danganronpa kinnies” like a thousand times, and it’s never positive, so maybe just use other media as an example for fiction kin.

And here are some things that people like about the community:

Being able to label themselves/ find a sense of identity

The way kintypes affect gender

Aesthetics

Demi-humanity: catboy/girls, dogboy/girls, vampires, werewolves, zombies, etc

My strategy would be to simply lean away from those things that cause friction, and towards things that people enjoy.

2. Types of posts that could be made:

Generally:

-Infographics/informational pictures. These get spread everywhere, and, if done right, are easy to understand.

-Flags/twibbons/symbols. People like them

-Slogans? Common phrases? If you notice someone saying something that’s short, clear, and easy to understand, repeat it

-Memes especially are important, think about how well “starter pack” memes were able to create an image of groups of people

Twitter specific:

-Informational threads, so so many of them

-”Otherkin promote yourself” posts (also just good for support in general)

-Hashtags (for art, promotion, or just in general.)

Tiktok specific:

-POVs, memes, normal Tiktok stuff

-Videos centered around common kintypes?

heard u liked the psychology aspects of fandom :0 not anon but curious on ur thoughts about the complete flip in attitudes btwn tumblr and twitter regarding sbi and dt if you have any? (as in how a lot of mcytblr loves sbi and hates dt but vice versa w mcyttwt and how it was even that way before sbi were mass-cancelled on twt back in spring)

OOOO okay i actually had to think about this for a bit but also i’ve already thought about this so this is me actually verbalizing my thoughts lmaooo

i was ON mcyttwt back in october through march ish so it was before the ‘mass cancelling’ (which i think was largely techno’s and a large chunk of ‘sbitwt’ ceasing being used as a label after he didn’t apologize) so i saw the tensions there before everything actually went down LOL

i don’t think that divide is exactly like it is on here though, i feel like large amounts of both disliked each other on twitter while on here i feel like a large portion of dtblr is actually fine w sbi/sbiblr adjacent (which i think also has a reason.) WHICH ILL ALSO TALK ABOUT this is going to be very long. like actually mega long. like dsmpblr arguing about apologism with each other in reblogs long. (super long.)

so for one, i think ‘stan’ wise (cuz majority of yt viewers aren’t on either) tumblr has more sbi stans here and twitter has more dteam ones there. that’s the obvious one, just by there being more ppl = more chances of ppl disliking ppl, etc. dream is more active w his fanbase on there than most of the sbi adjacent ccs are and he’s the creator with the biggest following out of all of them, dteam has private accounts on there, it’s easily accessible if u want a fandom that’s close to the ccs and to a large portion of ppl who like them too. it’s also a more popular social media that doesn’t have like a user ‘stigma’ LOL i avoided tumblr for a very long time for the reasons i dislike general twitter now. (the radlibs.) (also my irls know i have twitter but i feel weird saying i have a tumblr. idk okay i feel like the way the two are perceived is different.) on here if u don’t care about interacting w cc tweets and also care a ton about the lore for example, tumblr is easier to write long analyses and stuff instead of just constantly provoking each other and trying to get the upper hand and throwing buzzwords around like on dsmptwt. sbi adjacent ccs aren’t super active on there anyway, and a huge section of general twitter doesn’t violently hate one of their ccs and the want to be there to fight them/defend ur fav isn’t there LOL. there are probably other reasons large amounts of sbi fans end up gathering here but i’m more knowledgeable on why large amounts of ppl end up on dttwt 🤷

mcyttwt and twitter in general actually is also very all-or-nothing and has a black and white form of thinking. so if someone dislikes someone they like to justify it with buzzwords and make it a moral thing instead of a preference. and that goes both ways, if a fandom dislikes a cc they like to justify it, and that ccs fandom is gonna dislike THEIR cc and try and justify their dislike of the fandom and the cc. it makes the fandom super polarizing because both sides want to be right when they’re both not even WRONG. so a lot of ppl just dislike the opposing side for literally no real reason OR stay focused on and over-emphasize little things and constantly provoke and antagonize each other

ALSOOO twitters interface makes it so it’s easier for the subgroups to interact with each other, since a twitter timeline includes tweets from ppl the ppl u follow followings, the stuff they like, the stuff the ppl u follow reply/qrt to ALL ON THE MAIN DASH. you can also see follower counts/the followers themselves and likes by default, hashtags and trending things and the ppl under them are very easily accessible, the search system is super advanced, and finally qrts and the more new evil qrt function of being able to look through them is available😍😍. like actually i genuinely think the new version of qrts is a huge cause of the current issues on twitter. u not only put stuff u dislike on ur followers timeline and then everybody there also has an input, but ur also able to gather with other random ppl who disagree, and it’s very easy to end up in subsections of twitter that normally wouldn’t interact with each other. and all of this is very normalized/not looked down on, it’s part of the ‘culture.’ subgroups on that app are SIGNIFICANTLY less isolated. that’s how and why i think the divide works on there on an platform level and how it all affects mcyt fandom behavior and relations between each other

as someone who was there i feel like besides the tensions that came w being the two largest chunks of mcyttwt (the cc comparisons, the want to have an upper hand, and oneups, the justifications on why you like the things you do that/the individuality and superiority complexes, and all the stuff that twitters design made an issue like i just talked about) it didn’t get as badly polarized until the lore

which is the next big divide imo. so first there’s that distrust of each other/each other’s takes. a lot of smiletwt hates a lot of the treatment dream gets from non dteam lore mains and the treatment they get for liking c!dream, such as taking out dislike of the cc on the character and vice versa, a lack in the rp and dsmp tags dream requested, calling fans of c!dream abuse apologists, etc. and a lot of non dteam lore mains care more about fictional characters than the ‘opposing’ ccs so they’re very defensive of the characters. sorry that was too biased BECAUSE c!tommy is a victim of c!dream they feel that anyone who even remotely threatens that is a bad person, and the character’s status as a minor and an abuse victim automatically makes people defensive/protective and gives them the opportunity to use the moral high ground to anyone who disagrees w them. a lot of all of that applies to both platforms and both sets of fandoms, twitter just also has all the aforementioned interface problems that make all of this stuff very in your face, which makes the feelings/reactions to it stronger. like if u constantly see shit that pisses u off literally every day for months ur gonna hate it more and want everyone to know that u hate it a lot

okay and FINALLYYY the last thing i can think of for now is the birth of dttblr 😍😍 (/s.) it was founded by people who already hated/grew to hate dream (and later ended up influencing a lot of the problems they caused on here to end up on twitter at a much bigger level 😍👍👍👍.) this affected the way anyone joining the fandom or was already there viewed dream aka 1/3 of dteam and consumed his content, even if it was subconsciously. a lot of the ogs in the fandom were basically george solos before george solos were a thing and all of that affects the way the fandom interacts with subblrs and functions itself. for ONE several of the ogs liked georgebur cuz they hated dream even though at the time wilbur was making fun of george and the two had hardly any one on one interactions which automatically bridges the content consuming divide between the two halves of the fandom. AND it blurs the ‘the opposing side hates my fave’ divide because dttwt wouldn’t positively interact with ppl who hate dream but much of dttblr did and many of them did it themselves. this all affected the relationship w greater mcytblr

OKAY and finally gnf currently interacts w and makes content with uk ccs. gnf mains i think are still the biggest chunk out of the 3 dteam mains subblrs (SOMETHING WHICH IS UNIQUE TO DTEAMBLR) or at the very least are many of the biggest accounts on here (some of which have big followings from being here early) and that affects how their followers see things. many like the uk ccs and it creates an overlap between the two halves of the general fandom, even while the lore still has other parts divided, especially in regards to c!dream

OH OKAY AND ONE MORE THING anyone on tumblr who sees what’s going on on twitter (such as treatment of their faves) hates them for it and it affects the way they view a lot of dteam stans BY DEFAULT even if they’re mutuals w george mains who like sbi. like the whole generalizing ‘dream stans /neg’ thing. plus theyre the bigger group on here so any of that is multiplied automatically

this is so fucking long and it’s STILL not all my thoughts because there are a bajillion layers and effects on each other and i can’t talk about every single one. oh my god if anyone made it this far i’m kissing u on the forehead. also i like just dumped a bunch of my observations and didn’t always directly say the connections between them and my points LOL please ask if something is unclear !

uhhh tdlr i think the way two platforms are designed, the group sizes of users in both fandoms, the storyline of the lore, and the way the two platforms look at each other all affects the divide and how it manifests on both ends of the fandom 😊

Word of Honor Ep 6, and let’s talk a little about what’s canon, and what’s not, and about the particular slip-slidiness of the line between them on this show.

But first, due diligence: If you are NEW or JUST VISITING, this is a re-watch, so you’re going to find SPOILERS not just for this ep, but for the entire show. Scroll away and come back later if you haven’t seen all 36.5 eps and want to watch unspoiled. Also, heads-up, this got super long, because I had to talk about that stuff up there and then still talk about the ep. Hashtag long post (remorseful).

So, “canon,” as applied to fannish source material (in Western fandom, at least) traditionally has been considered the official stuff – the episode, the book, the comic, the movie – based on the religious definition of  “canon,” the collection of texts accepted as genuine and official within a religion. The word “fanon” – widely accepted fannish ideas – plays on this, as does the fandom concept of “word of God,” or things the Creators have said about the text but outside of it. Is it in the show as it aired or the book as it was printed? Canon. Is it not in the show as it aired or the book as it was printed? Not canon. (Apocrypha? Maybe. Anyway.) Generally, I think we’d say that things like material in the first draft of a script that doesn’t make it through revisions and onto the screen isn’t canon, even if you can get your hands on a copy of the first draft. The final product that airs is what’s canon. BUT this gets super slippery in something like WoH, in a way that’s exemplified in this episode. This ep is one of the places where people who can lip-read Chinese have spotted some significant dialogue changes between what the actors say on-screen and what lines have been dubbed in. (Everybody’s dubbed in cdramas, it’s just the thing that happens. You have your on-screen actors, and you have your voice actors. The ONLY person in The Untamed who did his own voice dubbing, for instance, was Ji Li, who played Nie Huaisang. All the other characters had voice actors dubbed in. In fact, the voice actor for Jiang Cheng in The Untamed is the voice actor for Wen Kexing in WoH.) One of the descriptions of WoH that I’ve heard is that this show was filmed as a bl and dubbed as a bromance. The thing is, nobody tried very hard to hide the shift. There are plenty of places that you can clearly see the actor’s mouths don’t match the dubbing, and they’re not artfully shot or edited to hide this. They’re fully on-screen, mouthing words that don’t match, right out in the open, almost like they want to you to pick up on it. Almost like it’s canon, because it’s right there on-screen, aired in the episode. In my first-watch reactions to Eps 36 and 37, I talked a lot about how the dubbing puts a layer of de-queered no-homo over what the on-screen actors are saying in these places, but if you can see what they’re actually saying and understand it, does that make it canon? What does it mean, both textually and meta-textually, if you can’t believe what you’re hearing – what you’re being told – because it contradicts what you’re seeing? How does that affect what we’re told about Our Protagonists and its “truth,” particularly in the final scenes? How much is the show deliberately working against censorship in this way? How much is it teaching us to look deeper than what we’re hearing on the surface?

Several people have talked about what’s actually being said by the on-screen actors in places where this happens, and I’m going to direct you to AvenueX on Youtube if you want a complete overview, because she’s reliable and has a good compilation that’s easy to find. She has a couple of videos called “Lip Reading for Sugar,” and the March 9, 2021, installment includes the Ep 6 incidences, the most significant of which are: At 3:05 in the ep, when WKX throws himself on Zhou Zishu’s back during the zombie Drug Men attack, calls him “mom,” asks ZZS to carry him, and tells “mom” that “your shoulder blades are the most beautiful.” Only no, Gong Jun didn’t say this, if you watch his mouth compared to the sound of the words. Instead of “niang” (mom), he says “Zhou Zishu.” Twice. “Zhou Zishu, carry me.” “Zhou Zishu, your shoulder blades are the most beautiful.” This is not only important because it emphasizes he’s gay for Zhou Zishu’s shoulder blades, but also because he’s fucking baked on Drunk Like A Dream incense when it happens, and later, ZZS will reveal that Drunk Like a Dream makes you see what you most desire, and he’ll confront WKX about how he “kept calling” someone’s name while he was under the influence of it. This makes no sense with the dubbing we get, because with “mom” dubbed over ZZS’s name here, WKX only calls Zhou Zishu’s real name once while he’s under the influence, at the end of ep 5. That is not kept calling. ANYWAY, once WKX clears his head and flies them away from the Drug Men, back to the a lakeside, there’s another disjunct at 5:05, when the dubbing has WKX tell ZZS not to play hero, that he doesn’t lose face if WKX helps him, and ZZS responds with something about your grandmother’s bear, which AvenueX tells me is a real Chinese idiom, although not for what. What Gong Jun and Zhang Zhehan appear to actually have said, though, is that WKX tells ZZS that this was just like a hero saving a beauty, with the implication that ZZS is the beauty, the damsel in distress, and ZZS respons that no, it’s like the beauty saving the hero, without a lick of concern that he’s the beauty, the damsel, in this scenario, just that he did all the work killing Drug Men and now this asshole is going to act like he’s the one who did the saving. At 31:24, dubbing has WKX telling ZZS that he’ll give ZZS whatever he wants if ZZS can get him some of the Drunk Like a Dream, but AvenueX tells me that he actually offers his body in exchange, in a way that implies marriage. And at 32:22, when ZZS asks WKX what he saw under the influence of the Drunk Like a Dream, the dubbing gives us some random story about baby WKX throwing a rat on his mother’s bed, while Gong Jun’s mouth seems to be saying something something about being in the bridal chamber with his beloved … so circling back to our first instance at 3:05, WKX using Zhou ZIshu’s name is now super-interesting, eh?

Another slip-slidey point of canon here is that there are two versions of this episode. The original version didn’t have the rabbit-washing scene. That was an extra that was inserted later into a Special Version ep when Youku reached 2 million subscribers. But the Special Version is now available on Youku’s channel (it’s the one I watched for this re-watch), AND it’s the regular version that’s on Netflix. So at 25:28, we now get this adorable little scene where ZZS and WKX are cleaning two rabbits in the lake before cooking them, and WKX splashes ZZS who pretends to be irritated before splashing WKX back and running away up the riverbank, chased by WKX. It’s flirty and playful and ALSO a foreshadowing of the flashback we’re going to see in a later ep, when they play together for an afternoon as children. Wasn’t canon before. Now it is.

Anyway, even with the (bad) dubbing that we get, this is a fantastic WenZhou ep. We open with them still being menaced by the zombies Drug Men, with a lot of swordwork by ZZS before he starts flagging because of his Nails Issue, whereupon WKX instantly sobers up, goes Evil Ghost Valley Master on Imposter Hanged Ghost who’s controlling the Drug Men, kills him with his Fan of Death, then scoops up ZZS and flies him off to a lake, where he attempts to tenderly check ZZS’s pulse and take care of his wounds before ZZS slaps away his hand like an offended maiden. WKX has to give him the qi smackdown in order to hold him still to :coff: pull down his robes and suck out the poison from the Drug Men scratches on the back of his shoulder. :hands: I remember the first time around, watching this with my mouth hanging open, demanding to know the heterosexual explanation for this. (Also, if you’re rummaging on Youtube, the Five Straight Guys Watching Word of Honor for this ep is not to be missed. They’re a little questionable in their reaction to the poison sucking, but before that, they’re a bunch of squeamish babies over using the dagger to further slice open the wounds to get to the poison, and it’s HILARIOUS. They can’t even look at the screen once the dagger comes out, hiding behind their hands. I love them, more and more as the eps go on, but they are WEAK compared to even the newbiest hurt/comfort fangirl.) There’s some more back and forth between WKX and ZZS about revealing their true selves to each other, no you, no YOU. WKX makes it clear that he knows there’s something really wrong with ZZS, and then they fight, set to romantic music, and ZZS ends up falling in the lake. I do the victory arms (  \o/  ) to myself where I’m sitting on the couch and startle one of the cats, because FINALLY we’re going to get rid of that execrable fake facial hair. ZZS fucks with WKX by staying underwater long enough that WKX panics and also dives in, we get some really cheap and awful underwater effects, and ZZS reveals his face! They end up back on the edge of the lake, drying their perfectly dry outer robes, while they sit around the fire together in their perfectly dry inner robes, but I am not going to complain because y’all. I CANNOT with how smug and pleased ZZS is for just a moment about WKX mooning over how pretty he is. Then he remembers to be an ill-tempered gremlin and pokes at WKX with a flaming stick, but I had to rewind four times just to catch that little moment of satisfaction about being admired again – it’s subtle and gorgeous and Zhang Zhehan is going to kill me with his face one of these days. ZZS demands dinner on this date, and fake-coughs pitifully to get WKX to go hunt something down, while he stays and does his delightful little thinky face as he pokes at the Soul Winding Box they got from Imposter Hanged Ghost. Then we get a shot of WKX looking at ZZS before he heads off to catch some rabbits that confirms he now knows he’s really Zhou Zishu, rather than Zhou Xu.

So, we’ll get back to the Ghost and the Box in a minute, but I do want to mention that this whole ep is layered through with mini-references and thematic stuff. Imposter Hanged Ghost rings his little bell to control his Drug Men, and remember that, we’ll see that again. WKX asks if ZZS came from the Healer’s Valley when ZZS offers him an antidote to the Drug Man poison; we learn later that WKX, himself, is the one who came from the Healer’s Valley. When ZZS gets the Soul Winding Box open and finds a piece of the Glazed Armor inside (Danyang’s, taken off of Ao Laizi by Ghost Valley before he was hung at the gate of Sanbai Manor), he gives it to WKX, tells him to throw it away if he doesn’t want it. WKX says he couldn’t possibly, and that he’ll wear it because it’s his first gift from A-Xu. Compare this to the way Xie’er will wear Awful Yifu’s Glazed Armor around his neck. We also see some of the thematic and referential stuff come up in conversations that form a repeated pattern in this ep of ZZS stressing what a bad and dangerous person he is: He scoffs at the idea he’s from Healer’s Valley, and asks if he looks like someone who practices medicine; WKX responds that he looked like a professional killer (true) who was cruel in the abandoned temple (presumably while escaping Mirror Lake) and frightening to a kind-hearted man like WKX who can’t even kill a chicken (particularly amusing given the prep for New Year’s dinner in a later ep, when WKX is the only one who CAN). At the lakeside and again after ZZS hightails it away from Sanbai Manor when they spot Han Ying there (HAN YING, my beloved), WKX asks if ZZS is a fugitive, what he’s hiding from, and says that he’ll protect him – by reason, because would he kill anyone unreasonably (omg, where to even begin? How many guys have you choked out at this point)? When they’re arguing about ZZS revealing his “true” face, ZZS warns that most people who’ve seen his real appearance are dead (probably true). WKX says he’s not afraid of death (not his own, at least, we’ll see that the thing he’s afraid of is ZZS’s death). ZZS warns WKX that he’s not only sharp-tongued, he’s ruthless (true). He tells WKX that he’s murdered many people (true) and set them on fire (not unlikely, frankly) and committed many crimes (true, in a way, although they were state-sanctioned, making them legal, if morally reprehensible). This is the ZZS who put the Nails in himself, who talks to himself about what a truly awful shixiong he is, who tells Prince Jin that he’s only good as a weapon. I like how we see this at the same time that we’re starting to see the side of him that’ll preen when someone thinks he’s pretty - this is a process, and it’s subtle, not as high-drama as WKX’s, but it’s there, nonetheless.

We also formally meet Xie Wang in this ep, artfully posed and playing his pipa among the bodies – old and new – of Zhao Coffin Home. He and Changing Ghost have a bit of a slapfight over whose fault it is that Imposter Hanged Ghost, who was actually Long-Tongued Ghost, got killed and got his (Danyang’s) Glazed Armor took by WKX, when Changing Ghost stole it from Ao Laizi, put it in the Soul Winding Box and gave it to Long-Tongued Ghost specifically to deliver it to Xie Wang. Xie Wang is super cool through all of this, and I think we get a sense of how deadly he is by the way Changing Ghost backs down. So, here’s what’s falling together: Some iteration of Ghost Valley is working with Xie Wang and the Scorpion Sect, giving the Scorpions access to the Soul Winding Threads, which we saw used at the Mirror Lake massacre and in the woods outside of Sanbai Manor to kill Yu Tianjie in the last ep. Via Xie Wang, Ghost Vally has access to use of the Drug Men, which we’ve seen at the Zhao Coffin Home (so far), although we haven’t yet been told (I think) how Xie Wang got access to the potions to create Drug Men (we also know ZZS read about Drug Men in a book somewhere, and got enough info to engineer an antidote to them). Xie Wang and the Scorpions have access to Drunk Like a Dream incense, which had to come from Prince Jin’s court, having been engineered by ZZS based on a much stronger formulation. Han Ying, from Tian Chuang in Prince Jin’s court, has been seen at Sanbai Manor, Zhao Jing’s place.

Meanwhile Chengling is doing poorly, with no appetite and getting bellowed at some more by Shen Shen, who would be the worst if only I didn’t know everything I know, which makes me cringe when Zhao Jing refers to Chengling as “my son, now.” NO. RUN, Goldbean. For some more thematic and referential stuff in this ep, WKX calls Chengling a “lonely chick with no one to rely on” and tsks over the fact that he’s “surrounded by hounds smarter than foxes” now that he’s under the care of the Five Lakes Alliance. This is clearly to manipulate ZZS into thinking Chengling is better off with ZZS, but it also sounds like an awfully apt description of Zhen Yan in Ghost Valley. I’m just sayin’.

this isn’t an ask or anything, more like a rant but im fr so tired of twitter stans and the way they attack madison/jiara on ANYTHING.

i don’t necessarily agree with some things madison does but they’re not HARMFUL. like yesterday when she went live to address the people who were hating on her for her dress at the mtv awards. i don’t remember exactly what she said but ppl on twitter started calling her a “classist” ?? like what. because she said one little thing, she’s a classist..make it make sense. it’s so funny to me because everyone in the main cast with the exception of madelyn and jd (unless im missing something) have done something wrong, yet i see madison get the most hate for what she’s done? also i don’t get why people say madison is transphobic, when she’s clearly not..it’s so confusing to me. she’s spoken up about trans rights before and how we shouldn’t exclude them from black lives matter. i know she made a poor comment like two years ago but she was young and probably didn’t know any better.

and as for people who attack jiara stans/jiara, get a life?? why does it bother you what people ship...? it’s so strange, like just focus on your own ship. imagine telling someone to k*pk themselves because of what they ship 😍. i would understand if it was a toxic ship...but it’s not. hot take but tumblr stans > instagram stans > twitter stans. obx twt stans are the worst, they can’t respect anyone or anything for shit.

I don’t know all the details of the situation, nor have I seen the “evidence” that people have for all these claims. But I have an opinion, and I’m not saying my opinion should be everyone’s but nonetheless here it is.

I tend to avoid fandom Twitter because it’s generally quite toxic, and the OBX fandom is just an example of it. They are ruthless, they interpret things how they want and then use it to “cancel” celebrities because they take clips out of context and use it as “evidence”. They seem to love targeting Maddie, most likely because she tends to respond to their claims (which honey, I wish you wouldn’t because they don’t deserve the attention ahshsbdb). But it’s not only Maddie they do this too, they like to do it to other cast members and even take it to the people around them. Then again, this isn’t just a Twitter thing, you tend to see this in every platform and within every fandom.

It’s stupid and I honestly don’t understand the point. I’m not saying people should or shouldn’t be “cancelled” but if someone’s done or said something shitty or wrong, they should be educated and learn to grow as a person. Cancelling them does nothing, tell them why they are wrong and let them learn from their mistakes. They deserve a chance to be a better person.

And as for the ship thing? It’s just simply immature. We all watched this show and loved it, we have that in common. However, we just saw the potential in different ships. That’s okay, that’s honestly completely okay. What I don’t understand is why we can’t just let each other go about with our preferred ships and leave it there. Telling people to k*ll themselves over a ship? Calling them homophobic or racist if they don’t ship the same ship as you? Like ma’am if you can’t learn to respect someone else’s opinion on something as trivial as a fictional ship in a TV show, then the internet is not the place for you. If it bothers you that much, just blog the hashtag and be done with it. No need to get hostile and say such extreme and rude things to people.

I would also like people to remember that though these actors play fictional characters we love on a show, they are also humans. Just like yourself and I. And they have boundaries and they aren’t perfect and they are bound to make mistakes. It’s not our job as their fans, and as people in general, to harass them and “cancel” them. Whatever Maddie said, I’m sure she meant no ill intention by and most likely should’ve just worded it better. I’m sure we’ve all had situations like this. But like this lovely anon said, none of it is harmful. Maddie and the rest of the OBX cast are young, they are gonna make some mistakes and they will grow from them. Unlike the rest of us, they are in the spotlight where everyone’s pointing a camera at them and waiting for them to trip up. But once again, they are still human and still deserve a chance to grow as a person and learn from their mistakes.

But if you think harassing them and “cancelling” them and bullying them is gonna solve anything, you can kindly fuck right off my blog!❤️

So many things to say and so many things not to say.

Fandom: This fandom is toxic. There is no other way to put it. It’s toxic from top to bottom, left to right, diagonally. My partners and I discussed this today because we were bored. We whole heartedly believe it starts at the top and by top I mean her majesty of the written word. Of course, now that’s she’s dropped the self diagnosis of “somewhat autistic,” you really can’t say anything because then you’re a horrible person. But she uses that as an excuse for her snark and condescending attitude. Hey. Whatever lady. I don’t follow you, I don’t read your books and aside from the few things I see, you’re no better than the leads. The difference is you’ve been milking the fandom for 30 years; people are waiting for you to finish and you can’t even complete the one that was supposed to be done last year. Yet you continue to yak about this side thing or that side thing and really, I don’t need a JF origin story. We’ve gotten that enough in the 9 other flipping books. You see the pattern here tho folks?

The female lead: She has done her share of being flippant and rude to people on her SM. She becomes sweet as pecan pie on Thanksgiving when she wants to want to launch something though. She was the one who wanted to end the shipper rumors and so IFH happened but sadly when you skirt around a subject and don’t say your partner’s name or take photos of them/with them and only take photos with your male lead in what could be construed as compromising positions - yeah. People will continue to buy what you sell to them. I’ve said it time and again, they are the biggest trolls in the fandom and do more to fuel the ship, even now that she is married to another man who is not the male lead, than anyone else. That’s all I have to say about her. She doesn’t owe anyone anything, none of them do actually, but sometimes being kind goes out the window with the lot of them.

His highness: Where to begin? His “fans” come all the way over here to our little corner of tumblr to hide behind Anon Asks to spew their hate and vitriol to those of us who seem to have opinions that differ from theirs. Namely, he is not a god. He is not someone we worship. We simply come together over coffee and tea and trade stories of current events and talk about the what if’s. My opinion of him is based on his own actions. Maybe all these “fans” want to blur the timeline of events and take it as gospel from his highness that he went on his luxury vacation before the travel ban while the rest of us cancelled ours and many lost jobs and incomes. Well that’s simply untrue. When he was called out, knowing he was wrong, instead of being the sweet, humble, normal guy that everyone says he is, he doubled down, became rude, flippant, went on a blocking spree, posting articles about COVID being no worse than the flu. Did his traveling companion get serious threats. I believe so. I believe he has as well from the same kind of people that come here to our little corner of tumblr, keyboard warriors that hide behind their anonymity and spew hate and vitriol. I also believe that people have gone to Glasgow and stalked his flat, which, come on people. That’s wrong on so many levels. I lived in LA for many years. It never occurred to me to drive to Malibu, Hollywood Hills, Laurel Canyon to actually stalk the celebs. Why? What’s the point? So I can see them in their grungy clothes looking like real people? No thanks. I don’t have that kind of time or energy. Thus the 4 page rant. Hey good for you dude. It’s about time you grew a pair actually but what did it accomplish? Nothing really except people stopped talking about his covidiocy. Why? Not because he wasn’t a covidiot and quite frankly still is (remember, he’s the king of “it’s not worse than the flu”) but because he pulled the mental health card. I think he does have mental health issues. I still have high hopes that some day he will realize this himself and seek the help he needs.

Now these Anons come to our little corner of tumblr and drop their comments saying things like “I hope you get COVID and die. It’s because of you he did his 4 page rant. The people you call mommies are his real fans.” Mmmkay. I used to blindly defend him. I used to buy into his shilling and his ever so sweet exterior, I even bought into the “best fans ever” bullshit. You want to blame us who never name him, her or the one who “writes” in any blog, never hashtag him, her, or the other one or the show, never interact with any of them on other platforms of SM for his 4 page rant, his mental illness, all of his flaws and accuse us of not being fans - fine. He who is without sin, cast the first stone. Perhaps you need to sit back and take a long look at yourself in the mirror as well. Wishing a deadly disease on people, making threats, spewing hatred - isn’t this the exact same thing that was done to his highness and you were all up in arms about it, yet you come here and do it to others and think that’s okay. What makes it okay? Because you’re defending your favorite star? If this is what it means to part of this fandom, part of his fandom specifically, no thank you. When y’all can walk on water, then you can judge me. Until then, judge not lest ye be judged.

I walked away long ago but I’m still human and still have an opinion, everyone does. If he’s your favorite celeb then perhaps you should follow his advice the next time you see something you don’t agree with - suggest you ignore. He’s the one that started the entire “be kind” campaign right? Or does that only apply when it’s comvenient? If you think this is the sort of behavior that will get you on his Christmas card list or the top of his potential list of never ending “girlfriends” - well, good luck. At some point this man (again, he’s a man, he’s flawed, he makes mistakes and he’s not perfect) will fall from the pedestal his fandom have put him on and then where will you all be? He has been unapologetic for all the things he’s done. He continues to shill his swill and all his other crap when a lot people can’t make ends meet. He continues to ask for donations to HIS causes instead of asking people to take care of themselves or their own communities. I love Scotland as much as anyone but my money right now is better served in my community. I ignore most of what they all do, following his own suggestion of ignoring, but things cross my dash and I do not condone or appreciate threats. I didn’t condone it when the threats were directed at him, his traveling companion, or anyone else nor have I ever made a threat against anyone.

I wish to be treated the way I treat others and if you can’t do the same, if you can’t engage with me in a calm, adult manner, I don’t have time for you. You can have a differing opinion than me. It’s okay. We don’t have to agree but we can respectfully disagree and discuss, not argue, about who’s right and who’s wrong. It isn’t cut and dry, black and white. We can agree to disagree and still be civil and still be friends.

My Scotsman added this: When will the games end, when will the games stop? I had high hopes for his highness to lead by example and be better but he’s a follower and he followers her majesty’s lead. He follows his business partner’s lead. He sees her milk the fandom, so why can’t he and he does an excellent job of it. His fandom vote for meaningless awards until their fingers bleed, buy all of his merchandise, buy anything he sells up to and including the ship. Is there an ounce of him being a genuine person left? Yes. He gives us a glimpse now and again but make no mistake, he will take you for what you’re worth. Maybe one day he’ll change and we’ll follow him again. Until then, I’ll be watching like my partner. I’ll be around.

I guess at the end of the day my point is this, the fandom made itself toxic and I highly doubt at this point it can or will turn around. Why would it? All we can do is choose to be part of the toxicity and contribute to it and pass it forward like these precious anons have been doing or we can choose to walk away, scroll on by, try to make the world or at least our little corner of it better.

I’m still disenchanted. I hope one day my wings turn white again with the promise of a better time and place. Until then, take care my friends. I’ll be watching and I’ll be blogging.

hey! as I finally figured out another thing about how Tumblr works and was scrolling through the tags on one of my posts, someone pointed out something about the ‘crugayders’ tag for Joe and Nicky so I just wanted to hop on and talk about it! got a bit long so more below!

thank you @insufferable-and-very-tired-bi for pointing this out to me! ill admit that when I first saw the crugayders tag referring to Joe and nicky back before I even started this blog I just thought it was funny (haha gay and met in the crusades) and moved along, and it ended up becoming one of the regular tags I used on here under posts about them and didn't think of it much further.

so, I wanted to come on here and apologize for that and express my opinion about it thinking on it now. I really can't come on here and try to talk about casual racism against Joe in the fandom and not acknowledge this, because you're right that it does erase his identity in the situation, and it is an issue that might be small in the scale of things, but myself and others need to be more vigilant about how we treat characters of color, and characters who aren't christian! we already see too much of the whitewashing in fanworks and I've talked a touch on here about the habit of erasing joe’s religious identity I've noticed in the fandom as well, so I'm sorry for ending up as a hypocrite in using the tag thoughtlessly!

in addition to this! the crusades were really bad! and I think its very good and interesting when we discuss that, because we look at a character we like and view as moral and compare him to the atrocities he was participating in. some of my favorite fics and things are the ones that explore their early dynamic bc there had to be problems there! but we shouldn't romanticize the period itself, or the people who participated in it without thinking carefully about it, and lumping Joe in as a ‘crugayder’ is really maybe not the best thing to do

Things… could have been better.

The weather on the road had been consistently unforgiving, all but wearing away at the Mighty Nein's collective spirits. The sensation certainly wasn't helped by the fact that sickness sunk its claws into Caleb days before their arrival at this small, almost nondescript inn halfway between towns.

As the rest of the group negotiated rooms with the innkeeper or tucked into the first proper meal they'd had since setting off, with Nott's blessing (and a gentle, albeit thinly veiled reminder of her vow of protection), Molly half guided, half carried Caleb up the stairs to one of the rooms. The days of travel, coupled with the illness Jester had yet to fully identify with her healers' kit, had taken their toll, and by the time Molly had asked and gotten permission to help him change and gotten him settled into bed proper, Caleb was, however fitfully, asleep.

The silence settled into the room, broken only by Molly's quiet sigh as he rolled his shoulders and neck, taking in the dressings of their accommodations. The space was sparse, with a pair of twin beds and a low table between them. On the table sat a copper wash basin with a neatly folded cloth draped over the edge.

In the absence of healing spells and Jester's healing kit, it would do nicely. Molly crouched at the foot of the bed, opening Caleb's bags long enough to retrieve the wizard's waterskin and the tin cup from his mess kit. He tipped the waterskin slightly, just enough to fill the cup half full, and placed it within his reach, before emptying the rest into the basin.

As he dipped the cloth into the basin and loosely wrung it out, Caleb stirred slightly, his brow furrowed as a soft moan escaped his lips. "Nnngh…"

Molly glanced over in time to see Caleb's eyes flutter open, even as he winced against the dim light. "Caleb?" He sat on the edge of the bed and laid a hand on the human's forehead, frowning as he felt the burn of his fever. "Feeling alright?"

Caleb leaned his head into the touch. "V-Vater…?"

Ahh. He was thirsty—an easy enough fix. Molly withdrew his hand to reach for the tin cup. As he did, Caleb's hand slid forward on the bedclothes and clasped the tiefling's other hand, something almost awestruck creepy into his weary features. "Du… du bist in Sicherheit."

As much as Molly liked to project an air of confidence and je ne sais quoi, even he had to admit he was out of his depth when it came to Caleb's native tongue. "Caleb, I don't speak Zemn—"

The temporary lack of a mutual language was lost on Caleb, and he continued to speak in Zemnian, his expression pained and his voice thick with sorrow. "Es tut mir Leid… Ich wollte nicht, Er zwang mich—ich wollte nie—"

"Easy, take it easy—" There was something deeply unsettling about the desperation in Caleb's voice, and gods only knew what he was actually saying—

Caleb clutched Molly's hands like a lifeline; the tremble in his was deep running and profound, and his forehead was visibly damp with sweat. "Bitte—Bitte verzeih mir—"

"Shhh…" With no small measure of effort, Molly tugged his hand free from Caleb's grasp and pulled the cloth from the edge of the basin. "It's okay—" He pressed the damp, cool cloth to Caleb's forehead and cheeks, occasionally dipping a little lower to pat at the sides of his neck. How had they let this fever get so out of control? "I'm okay, see? We're both fine."

Caleb's pleas trailed off, his chest heaving in a way Molly knew couldn't have been doing his illness any favors. When his eyes, glassy with fever and unshed, upset tears, fell on his companion's face, it was obvious he wasn't truly seeing him. "…M-mutter auch?"

Well shit. Even confused and delirious, it was obvious Caleb was expecting an answer to his question, the fact that Molly understood none of it be damned. Damn damn damnit— "Mutter auch."

Whatever he'd said seemed to be what Caleb wanted to hear, as his grip on Molly's hand loosened. "Oh… gut. Sehr gut."

He fell back asleep almost as quickly as he'd become delirious, aided by the gentle press of a cool, damp cloth to his forehead; all the while, Molly's fingers remained loosely interlaced with his. Helping care for him shouldn't have hurt this much—and yet knowing something had been brought to the surface, something that spoke to pain and distress, made Molly's heart ache as he sighed deeply. "I will never understand you, Caleb Widogast."

WEREWOLF-VAMPIRE AU BATAROU FANWORKS MASTERLIST by: Little1993lamb

Werewolf-Vampire AU Batarou was an AU that I created in 2020, because I've noticed when searching for Batarou fanworks, we still haven't had Garou and Badd depicted as Werewolf and Vampire couple in OPM fandom at that time. Whereas other fandom probably had that kind of AU already.

Especially the fact that Garou always associated with "wolf" imagery, and Badd has "bat" imagery, both for the thing (metal bat) or the animal (bat). Eventhough we have already seen Batarou hashtags using wolf&bat emojis together, there was still no fanworks about that AU. That's why I kickstarted the whole shenanigans!

The story was about a rogue Alpha Werewolf Garou fell in love with a fighter Vampire Badd. Eventually they became lifelong mates despite their status as mortal enemies, and together they formed a new werewolf pack: a family. Although, of course there was some people who didn't like their forbidden relationship and wanted to tear them apart. Thus both Garou and Badd were struggling to safe their family.

I've decided to make compilation for all the fanworks regarding the WereVamp AU in this masterlist, so everyone can take a look of it!

Julie And The Phantoms

So, I’ve binged Julie and the phantoms throughout a whole day (thanks to my qpp who wanted me to watch it) and I'm kind of lost on what to say. Never been great with words (though ironically writing is my passion) but bluntly I can say, its a worthwhile show. So I’ll give my fresh and honest opinions on the show- It definitely isn't perfect (no show truly is besides like... maybe sherlock) and has many things it can improve on (which I will lightly delve into) but for an apparent kids show, it genuinely got me invested and I didn't cringe as much as I would've expected to (which is surprising as I'm very critical of the media I consume) but to be honest my expectations when starting the show weren't too high to begin with. I'm not going to touch on each individual episode (though i might consider that in the future) but ill give an overall and short review of the show. 

Firstly, there's definitely an interesting concept with much potential the writers clearly took advantage of, though admittedly they didn't do a good job with expanding on it, but I'll let them have a lot of missed opportunities in the show considering how genuinely short the season is and episodes run times. One thing i wont be as forgiving on though is the acting (yes i am aware this is a kids show but I don't think that's a viable excuse, kids shouldn't have to be subjected to shit media just because they're brainless) and as much as I like the actors, they should've upped their game, or at least the delivery and tone of their lines and the screen writers shouldn't have tried to appeal to imaginary kids that all go on social medias and use hashtags in every sentence- but I will say the “cringiness” is very toned down compared to other shows and can even come off as endearing at some points if you aren't an easily annoyed person. emotional scenes were hit and misses as well ranging from the amazing scene of Luke visiting his mom for the second time and the rushed scene of the audience hearing Julie sing for the first time- while beautiful, it was incredibly random and rushed as Julies emotional depth was still fresh to the audience. the overall theme is a bit confusing, but I got the normal not really deep message of love and relationships that really isn't anything special but still enjoyable to watch and can tug at your heart strings. For the short run time the show had, it got through a lot of things well and not completely rushed as some scenes in it may be, and even if the ending problem in the show was a bit random, it was a really nice expansion on the universe and left me wanting to understand how ghosts worked even further, though this was really delved into or explained. It felt more like a road bump with potholes getting in the way which led to an startling end (well more like cliffhanger). Nether a less, it was really fun to watch the show progress and there were a couple of strong and memorable scenes here and there. The humor wasn't super strong either but i cant say I didn't giggle at least every episode and that scenes just had no effect on me. I’d also like to add i wasn't the biggest fan of the ending solution, though the cliffhanger was much more interesting, and it felt too easy (though earned) and didn't leave much room for expansion on how everything got solved in the first place which was disappointing and felt rushed and a tad lazy (but maybe I'm being too harsh).

Lastly, the representation and characters. I’m going to be honest, they're not as fleshed out as they could be and some more emotional depth is desperately needed. The rep we do have, while enjoyable, is a bit stereotypical and there seems to have quite a bit of queer coding, which is odd considering one of the characters is openly gay (also something that wasn't given too much depth) but it is appreciated over all and it is a good start (along with poc rep). There were definitely missed opportunities but I'm hopeful for the next season where hopefully it wont be as goal oriented and fleshes out the current characters and hopefully the side and possibly even new characters and their relationships/dynamics. From what I've seen, headcanons and expanding on one liners is the most this fandom will get in regards to character depth (at least for now). This isn't to say that the characters are bad though, they're all over all interesting, even the two antagonists and possible future antagonist (Bobby). The main characters were definitely enjoyable and talented. the side characters are fun and left me wanting to know more about them, and even the extras such as Dirty Candy's crew left me wanting them to have more spotlight in the season to come. This isn't to say they were all excellent actors but they're all definitely adequate, just too PG for my liking at times. I’ll cut them some slack though and just enjoy that there's wonderful and talented artists in the crew. Overall i wish to learn more about the characters as they're all very interesting, and hope to in the next season. 

Anyways, that's all, I personally recommend this show but I will say that your expectations should not be extremely high nor low when starting this show and cut the beginning episode some slack. I’m going to go watch New Girl now.

Putting this here just in case: Celebrity Klaroline, they are co-stars on a super popular show and have been secretly dating for years. They decide to reveal to the public that they are engaged via an Instagram-live during quarantine.

Thank you, luv, this one is so much fun and reminds me of Bob and Eliza my  Bellarke babies : ) So, they are my inspiration. I hope you like it, it got a bit longer than I’d envisaged. 

Do You Want to Know a Secret?

“So, let me get this straight,” she began. “You’re going to announce your engagement via Instagram Live?”

“Didn’t we just say that?” 

“I was repeating myself to emphasise my point not because I didn’t hear you,” Rebekah growled, looking between them. Even via Skype she still had that scary ‘don’t mess with me’ demeanour. “Last time I checked I was your publicist and it’s my job to tell you when you are doing something stupid, today is case in point.”

“And while we appreciate the, uh, services you provide, little sister,” Klaus mumbled. “It really is up to us how we let people know about the engagement.”

“You’ve been secretly dating for years, not one paparazzi shot, not one late-night TMZ ambush, not one Perez Hilton catty headline, not one on-set insider account, not one secret, comic con moment, not…”

“We get the picture, Rebekah,” Caroline interrupted. “We’re stealth as Kol would say.”

“Did he put you up to this? Because on further reflection it seems like one of his immature, ill-conceived ideas.”

“I’ll tell him you send your love, Rebekah,” Klaus teased thinking about his little brother and manager.

Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes were co-stars of the most popular sci-fi drama on television. Their characters were engaged in an on-again-off-again romance but what the public didn’t know was their favourite on-screen couple were off-screen as well. 

Not that it had started out that way, in fact it was more adversarial

2 years earlier…

“You did not just kick me there!” He growled, rolling around on the floor in pain. The director had just called ‘cut’ and the series leads were fighting, yet again.

The tension between them had been present from the first audition and the producers thought it was exactly what they needed in their two leads Cole Hamilton and Riley James.

As predicted, there was fireworks on-screen but off-screen was another story. The tension bubbling below the surface was threatening to boil over. The cast and crew were taking bets on when they were going to finally relieve the tension.  

“Like I meant to,” Caroline replied, the slight smile tugging at the end of her lips was telling him otherwise.

“Maybe we should get you a stunt person if you’re going to be such a danger on-set, love?” He insisted, eventually standing up fully recovered.

“Maybe we should get you one of those protective cups for your privates, you know just in case the stunt person accidentally does the same?”  

Their mouths were now within inches of each other, their intense gaze showing no signs of faltering.

As it turned out the tension did boil over in her trailer later that day. Bets were won and the couple found ways to relieve the tension, first as a physical arrangement but then they went and fell in love.  

“Keeping our relationship out of the public eye has been amazing because we’ve been able to do things at our pace without any intrusion from the media, but it has also been the most difficult experience,” Caroline explained. “There’s only so many years of Uber Eats and Netflix I can handle.”

“Don’t forget the chill part, love,” Klaus murmured in her ear.

“Way to put me off my breakfast! Even I can hear you, Niklaus,” the familiar sound of his brother-in-law came over the speaker. 

“Well Lorenzo, maybe you two should go and do that and we can….”

“Why can’t you just put up a cute picture and caption it with a ring emoji? I know it has all been done before but…”

“Everyone is doing Instagram Live, especially during the pandemic.”

“So if they all jumped off a bridge would you do that too, Niklaus? Also, don’t forget I have your Instagram password, Nik.”

“Unbelievable! How did you…” he trailed off before Caroline intervened. 

“You don’t know mine. Look, Rebekah, we appreciate your concern but it’s time to go public. And what better time than during a world crisis? If you ask me people need some good news, now more than ever.”

“Fine, I don’t agree but if you’re going to do this you realise there’s no way to control things once you start? People will be going crazy, more so since they’ve been cooped up in isolation and had no idea you were dating let alone engaged.”  

Two hours later

“We ready to do this?” She smiled, placing her hand on his. Yes, it was a completely unusual way to announce their engagement, let alone their secret relationship.

“As much as I’ve loved having this time to get to know you,” he murmured. “I’m excited for this next stage in our lives.”

“I know, it will be nice not to have to sneak around anymore,” she shared. “Although, I’m not looking forward to the hate I’ll get from all your female fans upset you’re off the market.”

“You’re worried about my fans, yours are absolutely rabid, love.”

“Well, at least we have the Ciley fandom,” he chuckled. “What do you think they’ll call our real-life ship?”

“The fact you’re asking that means you have been cooped up in quarantine too long,” she teased.

5 minutes later

Before they’d even started to speak the love hearts were flowing in a bright array of colour and the comments began and not just a couple, thousands within the first couple of minutes.

Turns out their fans didn’t need any words to work out what was happening given their steady stream of comments.  

“Some of you might be wondering…oh looks like many of you have come to that conclusion already given the comment from @mark91,” Klaus began, “And yes, agreed, I’m a lucky dog.”

“What he’s trying to say is that…oh @jazzy39 glad you like my sweater. But…”

“I’m sorry @rayna001 but yes I’m taken,” Klaus read, a  slight chuckle escaping his lips. “Funny you should mention that actually..”

“We wanted to announce that oh @arabella5700 looks like we don’t need to do that anymore.”

They looked at each other briefly before realising their news wasn’t really theirs anymore.

“Yes, we’re engaged,” Caroline murmured feebly, holding up her left hand which keen-eyed fans had already spotted within the first 30 seconds.

“And what better way to announce it than with out fans,” Klaus smiled. “Now, if only we had our own ship name…”

“Looks like @hermione1992 has already offered an option,” Caroline interrupted. “Klaroline, mmm interesting. What do you all think of that?”

After they’d fumbled through quite a few more questions, including what her dress was going to look like and if her co-stars Katherine Pierce and Bonnie Bennett would be bridesmaids, they finished the live stream.

“OMG,” Caroline moaned, flopping onto the couch next to him. “I’m exhausted.”

“It’s like the banks of the dam have given way and…”

“All those questions, it’s like two years worth of them all stored up,” Caroline murmured. “Your sexual prowess was one of my personal favourites.”

“Which you didn’t answer,” he pouted. “People out there are going to think I’m bad.”

“Yeah, because I was going to go into that on an Instagram Live,” she muttered. “I’m sure the parents of our younger fans would love that.”

“And after all that we didn’t get to make our own announcement,” he complained. “They are an observant bunch.”

“Well, give we’re all supposed to be in lock-down I imagine us being in the same place was a dead giveaway. We are now officially hashtag klaroline though,” she giggled. “It kind of has a nice ring to it.”

His phone beeped signalling a new message, Klaus didn’t have to be a genius to realise exactly who it would be. He picked it up lazily and consulted the screen.

“So, how did that go for you?”

“She’s never going to let us live that one down,” Klaus groaned.

Zawe's been liking lots of posts about Floyd on Instagram, including ones about silence being bad. So... I also think the argument that Tom doesn't need to speak up because who cares about celebs is flawed. If all these celebs weren't posting about it and amplifying donation links, there would be less pressure. I'm confused why this fandom consistently coddles his (white) feelings over small criticisms. If we can't be comfortable asking why privileged people are silent, what change is there?

Has she? You’ll have to send me a link, because I can’t be bothered to scroll through the 1500 people she follows to see which ones she’s liked. And at the same time, she herself hasn’t posted anything, so... 

I gonna be like Han Solo here - “Kid, I’ve been from one side of this galaxy to the other. I’ve seen a lot of things...” 

He used to tweet hashtags. That wasn’t enough for some fans. But on the other hand, others didn’t want him to speak at all because he didn’t understand the issues on a molecular level (even though he admitted that AND his privilege AT THE TIME). Some of the support was ill-advised (#Kony2012), others were well-intentioned - amplifying donation links, petitions, etc, for example - and he was, even before 2017, called a white saviour... by his fans. So I’m not sure where you get the idea the fandom coddles him. They’ve consistently criticized him. They’ve consistently ignored the things he HAS done, in order to climb over each other to criticize what he isn’t doing AT THIS VERY MINUTE, or that it isn’t an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT post/comment. 

Is pointing out those facts in the above paragraph coddling? 

Or maybe pointing out that Hashtag Activism is largely ineffective is coddling? 

I guess no one would know about any of these things if Tom (or insert any other fave) doesn’t post about them. 

And don’t try to say I’m silencing discussion. I’ve posted many asks without comment, on both sides. I’m posting this, when I could have just deleted it. If you want to call him out - post it on your own blog, with your name attached. That’s the way to do things, right? Post things on SM?? Be the change you want to see. No one’s stopping you.
