THROAM PRINT GUIDE!

This ones for the 20 people who liked my last post🫵lots of love☝️🙏🙏🙏🙏

I printed these using LULU , the quality of the print is pretty nice, and the site was SO easy to use. Like. Seriously. The books need to be flattened a bit more, but that’s presumably because of shipping? Nothing i cant fix though.

Speaking of, that shit was QUICK! Books took 3 days to print and only one to ship because they came from somewhere about 3 hours from my house.

Price wise— these were the price of typical books, individually cheaper actually. In total they were $60 CAD, shipping being the worst at $15, but in all honesty, $60 is the amount you would pay for books at a bookstore over here.

(Ignore the fact that I MISSPELLED THROAM??? These names don’t mean shit, it really doesn’t matter…)

As for the books: they’re bigger then i like personally, but they were pre-formatted to be 6 x 9in (US trade,) and as i took the files directly from Anna Green’s blog, they should be the same size as the OG books.

A kind soul on reddit gave me scans of the covers, as far as im aware there aren’t ANY HD copies of them anywhere online? So i had to reformat these bad boys by myself.

I tried to keep them as close to the original books as possible, this was my first time using lulu and i had really no idea how they were gonna turn out— so PLEASE TAKE SOME TIME AND REFORMAT THEM!!

The print would look wayy better if the resolution was higher, theres nothing i can do about the actual drawings, as those are straight from the scan, but the text is a tad blurred and would look a ton crisper if you upped the size.

(Okay so my cameras pretty shitty, but hopefully you can tell that it’s far from perfect. I have no idea what to do about that aside from redrawing the art, so you’re on your own for that one.)

Another problem is the size of the back cover, it just looks big and not even at all. So just size it down, It’ll look SOOO much nicer.

The last problem you should fix is the side bleeding onto the front. I put the cover together on lulu’s site on my ipad, so i couldn’t really tell, but it should be pretty easy to fix up.

Grian watcher god fae reference? Mayhaps?

I hope this is horror-y enough? Sorry I really struggled. Turns out this event collided with the last 3 weeks of college and I got super busy and struggled to come up with ideas. Thus drawing does have a short writing thing attached to it (under the cut) but I wrote it a year ago so I didn't wsnt to submit it for this event all by itself.

The writing thingy --->

Its neck snapped and cracked, contorting itself. The thing swiveled it's head around to stare at Scar. Six black wings tore out of its skin. They were covered in eyes. They all stared at him, glowing a dim violet.

"What a peculiar little thing you are" a voice echoed. It sent chills down his spine. He had never felt so small.

Scar could make out what resembled a human face but it looked wrong. It cracked when the thing moved, stitching itself back together. Scar wondered what was under the mask. He couldn't seem to look away, he wanted to know. Like a moth to a flame. Not realizing the danger till it was too late.

"What are you?" Scar tried to back away.

The creature trilled, it laughed at Scars ignorance. "That is of no importance to you,"

"But-"

"Hushhh, you've ran yourself into something you do not understand. What is your name?"

He wasn't sure how he should answer. "You may call me Scar"

"You're funny," it smiled. A talloned hand reached out. It's whole hand was covered in what looked to be a sort of mold. It was black like the sky. Where it warped a deep purple grew in place. The fingertips were sharp. They gently traced the scar across his lip, then moving to his hair. It was curious. Well, so was he.

"What can i call you?" Scar tread carefully. He may be curious but he would like to stay alive. Though, he heard stories where unfortunate humans became eternal servants to the fae they angered. But that's not the worst they can do. Maybe death would be a gift.

The hand left his hair, leaving it a mess. He pushed it out of his face. "Hmm, I dont know, why don't you choose"

"Oh" Scar was surprised. "Uhmm."

"Is something wrong" it's head tilted, or twisted. It was a little unnerving.

"Well, to be honest I wasn't expecting to still be alive, let alone have enough time to think of a good name to call you."

"I could change that" it smiled deviously, the glow of its many eyes flashing bright purple and dimming just as fast as they appeared.

"As much as I appreciate the offer, It would be preferable to avoid death for the time being." Scar laughed nervously. He racked his brain for a good name for his new... friend? He tapped his fingers nercoulsy together trying to think of anything… bread.. Butter.. Wheat.. Grain. Graaiin.. Grian. Grian? For the life of him he cant understand why bread was on his mind. He thought of food when he was nervous and right now a nice good loaf of bread might just make him forget he’s face to face with some sort of eldrige god or something. "Hmmm, does... Grian work?" Scar offered.

"Yes, I think that'll do" it said excitedly. "Gri-an.. gria-nnn, grian" it tested the sound of the name.

Scar laughed. "So are you a girl, a boy? Neither?"

"None, all. It changes, does that even matter? I am a being beyond your mortal rules."

"Cool ok" Scar whispered, wiping his hands on his dirt covered jeans.

The wind picked up. The purple leaves spun up in the air. Grian slowly lowered himself from where he was hovering. His wings folded inward. Scar thought he could hear bones snapping. Grian landed on the ground. They looked a lot smaller then they had before.

He now only had one set of wings with significantly fewer eyes. Scar looked at Grian's face. Where the white of the eyes should be, they were black. He had short golden brown hair, the longest unkempt strands reaching his shoulders. He was a whole head shorter than Scar. He used to stand at least seven feet tall. He was beautiful. His pointed ears were decorated with silvers and golds.

"I owe you now." Grian grabbed hold of Scars hand, all too eagerly. His grip stung, the humanoid bird not quite understanding what a normal amount of strength is. A bright ring of light surrounded the point where their hands joined. The white swirls landed on their arms creating a beautiful pattern. The light disappeared into his skin. He blinked his eyes, getting used to the dark again. The swirls left white marks on his arm, it looked like some sort of abstract tattoo.

"Whoa". He knew he should probably be concerned by what just happened but this was the most spectacular thing to ever happen to him.

another swap au design whooo i still cant draw sir Pentious and I ain't letting that stop me

This swap was decided by y'all in this poll and I'm gonna be honest when I put it as an option I had no idea how I was gonna make it work and honestly I still only have like half an idea but that ain't stopping me. In my role swap au I usually try to keep their backstories and personalities as similar to canon as possible while tweaking just enough to make their new role in the store make sense for these two I found that that approach just wasn't feasible. So in this Au Sir Pentious was created as an angel and has lived his entire life in heaven he still has some minor trust issues mostly because even before the heavens meeting where he learns about the extermination he notices some things not adding up but questioning heaven is not something he would do as such those questions and suspicions are left festering under the surface which might lead to his fall in the future :) I leaned a lot more into the "flaming snake" depiction of a seraphim along with giving him wings becouse the boy deserves wings. Emily on the other hand is a regular sinner dieing in the late 19th century like sir Pentious and being an inventor like him. Like her canon counterpart I think Emily is still good natured and goofy getting sent to hell because while she genuinely wanted to help people her ignorance and naivety led to a lot of her inventions hurting and even killing people. She wants to become a strong overlord so she can transform the place for her idea of the better not noticing how her methods are hurting people and further cementing her place down there. Her redemption would be mostly about her connecting with the residents of the hotel learning their stories and realising how wrong her perception of hell and the greater good was. She would also play into Vaggies ark of learning to open up and trust others along with learning to actually help the citizens of help become better people instead of forcing them into strict moulds she believes to be the best for them due to her preception of hell as former angel. I actually had a lot of fun with Emily's design and while i'm still not feeling so great (why I didn't sketch out any scenes with these two goofballs I will do so when I have the energy) I'm doing a lot better and will probably be back soon. I have also been thinking about turning my swap au into a comic what do y'all think?

Featherless Flight AU

aka dca avian au where these fucks r BIRDS

(disclaimer this is a sun x moon au. it also deals with heavy themes such as child abuse, death, violence, and. ya know. wutever tws come with the apocalypse (also these will not be talked about in detail in this post))

nothing robotic in them. just feathers, blood, and bones. a lot of that stuff may be lost or break throughout their story! but lemme at least tell u wut they look like (without having my own drawings OTL (i only have a ref for their faces (which im not confident of)))

a quick note for both of their designs, they r both Fully Covered in feathers, including their arms and faces (yes they have arms And wings). the only places that dont have feathers is their lower legs and hands. they have anthropomorphic legs. and their face shape is also similar to a barn owl, as shown here (ignore the lack of mouths, idk wut to give them)

suns design! he has the coloring and general design of a sun conure. hes full of bright reds and yellows, tho the green is replaced with a bit of blue. he has multiple crests around his head that fluff up similar to a cockatiel but theyre in a way that make it look like rays. in the drawing above is wut they look like without their crests raised; that is their default. suns feet r grasping feet which r 2 toes in the front and 2 in the back. sun has high speed wings so aes a lot faster. (if u dont know wut any of this means i recommend u look it up, im a bird nerd) sun is also specifically an omnivore (them having different diets is actually plot relevant)

moons design next. moon is the color of a hyacinth macaw tho his anatomy is closer to an owl. he has one large crest on his head like a cockatoo. its also colorblind! since its anatomy is based mainly off of owls, for moons ability to see at night means he can see less colors. and bc hes more sensitive at night his eyes r always half closed in light, making it look sleepy despite being fully awake. moon has raptor feet with 3 toes in the front and 1 in the back. xis claws r also much larger than suns. moon has passive soaring wings which is better for longer flights. and moon is a carnivore :)

theres also an eclipse but their design is an enigma to me even in my own mind

but back to sun and moon! if anyone is curious moon uses he/it/xe pronouns while sun uses he/it/ae pronouns. they r both aroace and love each other deeply (qpr babyyyyy). sun is genderfluid while moon doesnt give a shit (agender).

sun is more bubbly and energetic. very much high energy bouncing off the walls. hes the kind of optimist where u cant tell if their "bright side"s r trying to help or be condescending. its a master at back handed compliments. heavily a perfectionist and will reach the point of screaming fits if wut he doesnt isnt perfect. ae has a lot of self image issues. ae hides a lot of aers lack of self confidence and doubt behind a wall of "im the best", tho that wall can crash very easily. a bit of a flirt, but mainly bc he just enjoys seeing how ppl react. he takes compliments from everyone but moons compliments r always the best

moon is lower energy and calmer. at least, he acts like it. hes more reserved and if it wasnt for sun he wouldnt have any friends or talk to ppl at all. he fears abandonment and sun is the only person who has stayed with him this whole time and is the only person he truly trusts. is very aggressive towards anyone it doesnt know. despite being shorter than sun (hes 6ft while sun is 7ft) it definitely does a good job at intimidating ppl. over time when xe becomes comfortable with someone xe will eventually calm down and show a bit of a softer side to them. when xes actually calm and likes someone xe can be a bit... chaotic :)

im honestly not sure where ill start their story since ive already thought about their childhood but i also wanna write about their adulthood as well. the story of their childhood mainly deals with the abuse they went through, then with adulthood theyre shoved into an apocalypse bc... y not :) (btw the apocalypse is mainly just bc ive been enjoying apocalypse aus a Lot lately and wanna write one. the child abuse is for their development and to show y they act the way they do. while it will be fun to write their development, i am by no means saying abuse is okay and this topic will be treated carefully and seriously.)

Now, people call Nesta mean and a bitch and villain and i cant understand why. Yeah, she mean and cold bitch. But we all know she us the bitch that keep it to herself unless she is attacked. That is the case with Cassian, he keep seeing Nesta as an opponent to tackle down.

Dude, that is scary you know. Reading that alone is scary. In Wing and Ember whatever it is, Cassian keep circling the Archeron mansion and 'preparing himself' to face Nesta. Prepare what? Just tell her the new and fuck off. Why is he keep pushing Nesta with his game?

If my future husband tells me I am a steel flame human that need to win, tackled down. I would be scared. Why the hell you fell the need to win me like I am sort of trophy? I am supposed to be your partner, you friend, not opponent

And I remember he tried to initiated someting with Nesta but it turn into fear. Cass scented fear from the previous rape attempt of Thomas to Nesta. Dude 😭, if i am you i would apologize and get tf out of the house. You tried to knock Nesta down and even have her whole rape attempt flashback.

And she asks to deal with Azriel instead.

Something she will ask for again and again for the next 3 years.

Everytime I really think about canon Nessian it gets worse and worse. It's been a predatory breakdown of her boundaries from day 1

Just to remind yall if you think Cassian would die for Nesta: he's never even fought for her. He physically abused her on behalf of others.

Nesta would tell Feyre to kick rocks if Feyre even asked Nesta to be mean to Cassian. Him? Well, hell scream at Nesta that she doesn't deserve love.

It's easy to say Cassian would defend Nesta from an outside threat - in his own words he'd do it for anyone. There's nothing personal about it.

In fact, that's where he draws the line. If you "know" Nesta, you have every right to treat her however you want and Cassian will at best sit back and do nothing or at worst he'll help you treat her like shit

Aubrey is my softest mc! She is very sweet and kind but she can also be pretty shy and gets anxious easily. She is majoring in healing!!! Really enjoys her classes a lot!!

mmm Aubrey also likes baking and taking pictures. She owns different cameras and her room (both back home and at college) are full of pictures of her friends, family and small things she loves or that remind her of something. Oh and she also loves flowers!! her favorites are baby breath and orchids. Oh and she has a very good relationship with both of her parents and owns a cat!!!

Irina is the mum friend!!! She is extremely responsible (tries at least) and cares very deeply about those around her; always making sure her friends have eaten or are safe and whenever they get hurt because of her she feels responsible u.u She is also a nerd!!! loves readling, loves learning, studies a lot and wants to do well in classes!!! Irina is majoring in Ritual Magic and Potions and considering becoming a teacher or a scholar if she survives college lmao. Loves loves loves plants to the point she has a small greenhouse back home!!

Irina is super close with her mum but has some daddy issues she is trying to work through asjhaska. She can manipulate lightning, her wings are pure white and owns a pet dragon!!

Jenna is my spoiled brat!!!! very daddy’s girl!!!! Jenna is extremely smart (without the need of studying) and very cunning; loves annoying people and playing dumb to then make people look stupid. She can be cut-throat with people who hurt those she loves and lord, you don’t want her as an enemy! mmm she is majoring in Magical Technology!!!! We love a smart, educated, fashion knowledgeable and political queen!!!

Josie!!! my feral soul sucking baby!!! Just imagine the most terrible person ever and then multiply by 100 and you have Josie. I love them but they don’t have a single consideration for anyone other than like……two or three people. They are quite resentful towards the entire magical thing (mainly because they were taken out of their comfort zone and…constantly attacked). They don’t get on well with their parents but there is a special place of hate dedicated to their biological father kasjaka <3 Oh and they are majoring in Magic Theory (still super pissed they cant major in battle magic because “they are human” lmaoo)

And last but not least Nina!! My queen!!! I always struggle about what i should say about Nina because she has layers akasjaksj She seems very laid back and that nothing really bothers her; and in a way it does because she buries her feelings so deep until she becomes a time bomb lol and has very self-destructive tendencies. Would burn the world down if it means protecting those she loves!!! So she really struggles a lot with her public persona and “her real self”; she is pretty good at lying too and had commitment issues until leon (she still has some tho aksjaksja)

Before the events of the book she was considering majoring in art!! she is very talented and truly enjoys drawing and painting (and learning about art!!) but given that it wasn’t offered she went for Political science; a little because she didn’t know what to study and it was broad enough to cover multiple things but also because she is interested in the journalism side of it!!!

Nina loves her father, they are very close and have a very healthy relationship but absolutely hates Roxana and is scared of becoming like her. Oh and her cat is named Cordelia!!!

Here's my semi-finished drawing of my main character! Ima delete this post and repost it with a quote once this is done, but basically im taking SVTFOE's idea on the whole "a wand that changes form depending on the user" thing and i wanted to know, based on appearance, what do yall think her wand might look like?? Personally my idea was to design it a bit off of Eclipsas design and wing it from there but i wanna know yalls opinion. Also, the wand does kinda take form from the users personality and backstory, so while im not gonna say much abt her backstory so i can have the joy of keeping it secret(or at least i wouldn't say it in a public thread...) I am gonna give a bit for yall to go off of:

•Color Scheme is Magenta/Purple/Indigo + Black + (maybe) White + (rarely) pink + (rarely) ocean blue/aqua

•Is meant to be the goddess of night/goddess of all magic and witchcraft (still in indecisive mode)

•Is based off of me so absolutely has S/A trauma, abandonment issues, Daddy/Mommy issues, attachment issues, Anxiety, Depression, and more!

•likes flowers, the water, {"dark"} magic, stars, space, the night

•Got a villian arc where she became a corrupted ruler(to say the least), and mass murderer, died 2-3 times, and got "reborn"/revived at LEAST 4-6 times

•Believes theyre a martyr, is in fact, a pathetic loser who pushes herself away from anyone

•Hates herself and starts the story grieving the death of her lover, and then the mid-beginning is spent mourning her sibling and end-beginning was spent reuniting and moving on with loved ones

•Can be unintentionally manipulative (picked it up from her mother), Compassionate, Creative, Curious, GREAT at acting(had to do it her whole life), Ambitious, Pessimisticly Realistic, Persistent, Stubborn, Intelligent/"Gifted", Thoughtful, Messy, Perseverant, Emotionally Distant, Ignorant(?), Quiet, Eccentric(??), Cold, Overworking, Insomniac/Sleep Deprived, Indecisive, Impulsive(sometimes, not most of the time tho), Overthinker, Amoral(..at least, during her lil villian arc), (mostly) Cynical, Cunning, Miserable, Ambivert, Impressionable(at least in the beginning), Witty, Outspoken(this only happens later on tho), Unpredictably Predictale(in the beginning and middle), Authoritarian(villian arc), "Obidient", Progressive(?), Reserved, (at times) Hypocritical (mostly in beginning, villian arc and beg-end), Self-Aware, Depressed, Anxious, Determined, Devoted, 'Elegant'

SO i had a dream last night where i adopted a ghost child , and when he got older (like in his teens) he got bat wings and now im making him into an oc ! Anything casual for me. Runo likes pastel, Sanity likes cats, Ilmari and Casimir like anything. Placitrio likes punk stuff. Antti is all for camo.

3. Who's the best at dealing with stress?

Casimir. Definitely.

4. Who has the weirdest music taste?

Military marches for Antti. And Plac secretly listens to bubblegum pop.

5. Do you see your system members as individual people, parts of a whole, or something else? Do other members see things differently?

Sometimes I tend to see them as me. We are vastly different, but weren't we all one person when I was a young child? We are individuals, that's the truth.

6. Is there anything everyone can agree on or have in common?

7. How long have you known you're part of a system? Has it taken other members a longer or shorter time to come around?

It was the longest for me, as a fucking host. I had people in my head and personality shifts and all, I just fucking ignored it until Sanity just erupted out of place lol

"I think I have people in my head" and I named them at 6th grade but gave no fucks afterwards because "they cant be real lol". Then Muse said that I might be a system, so it was like lifting off the veil and oh my.

9. What do you feel your origins are, if you feel comfortable sharing?

Traumagenic. 

10. If you could wake up tomorrow and have everyone be in separate bodies, would you?

Oh God yes. Though, Sanity has a catchphrase, "All would do well but us, Karl. We would fall like flies, Karl."

11. Do you have a favorite plural character or headcanon? 

I sometimes hc Dr. Gears from SCP Foundation as plural. What a lad.

12. Does anyone like any video games? What about books or TV shows? 

Antti: Battlefield 1. We all like it + SOMA + Bioshock. I, Val Pax, Plac, and Sanity love French Revolution related stuff.

13. Who's the most outdoorsy, if anyone? Who likes to stay inside the most, if anyone?

Sanity likes to take walks at night, even at 1-2-3 AM. I am such an introvert.

14. What is religion and spirituality like for your system, if applicable?

We are grateful and try to pray. Casimir, Runo, and Ilmarinen are the best at that.

15. Who, if anyone, are you out to? Are they supportive?

Out to a few old friends and Muse! They are very supportive.

I have no idea. I mean, there are differences between singlets and systems I guess.

Ilmarinen sometimes imagines himself with wings. So does Casimir. And Sanity doesn't like being a human.

18. Do you have introjects? If so, where do they come from?

We don't talk about the introjects.

19. Do you consider yourself disordered? Do other members feel any differently about this? 

We keep forgetting shit, barely fucking alive at times. But the disorder is trying to protect us. We wish to be much more than a disorder.

20. What are everyone's favorite hobbies?

I like drawing. Sanity loves drawing and doing research. The Historians love research and writing. Placitrio likes music and arguments. Casimir and Ilmarinen like organising things. Antti likes writing. IX and XXI just like peace.

21. How do you resolve in-system conflicts? 

No fucking ketchup, Plac. Though, he always eats some when he fronts. We just shout and talk out loud until we reach a conclusion.

22. Do you dissociate often? What is dissociation like for you, if applicable?

All the fucking time. I barely remember the day. It's zoning out. Also, not registering the memories. I lived a day but I don't ever think about it again, register it as a dream-like state and it doesn't exist in my brain.

23. Do you wish you had more or less members, or are you happy with what you've got now?

I think we are okay. Plac wants to kill me, Sanity, and XXI though. Sanity actually begs for it.

24. How active are your other members? Who's around in headspace the most? Who fronts the most? Who's dormant, if anyone?

We forget every fucking thing we do. Brain doesnt register shit as memories. Like dreams.

Yeahhhh. Mostly we respect my decisions. However, female or enby members are free to express their gender identity when they front.

Hermit is the oldest, like 60-80. Olive is youngest, around 5.

Some of us are a family. We are altogether like roommates!

fury dragon family theory

another httyd analysis because i cant help myself!!! pls let me know ur thoughts as always :D

so, if you've read my last post you know that i see toothless as very panther-like

they have similar coloration - mainly, mostly black with faint markings - and they're both felines (well, toothless is feline coded, but anyway). this also makes a lot of sense when you take into account toothless has very few natural enemies in the food chain, as do black panthers.

so what is a black panther? they're just leopards, honestly. specifically, melanistic leopards. basically, the opposite of albino - the stuff that albino animals lack, melanistic animals have an abundance of, and are therefore dark colored. therefore, i don't think night furies are a species at all, just like black panthers aren't!

melanistic traits come from genetic mutations. if this were to happen to a weaker dragon that is naturally lighter colored, that specific dragon would be easily spotted, die, and fail to pass on its genes. however, since night furies are naturally so powerful, i think that a few melanistic furies occurred, survived, and bred enough to make a subdivision of melanistic "night" furies.

so what is a "fury" then??? well, it's definitely a strike class dragon - the speed and intelligence are obvious. additionally, the need for echolocation insinuates that they're probably nocturnal, like felines. we can get a good idea of what a standard fury might look like if we simply edit toothless to be lighter

so maybe like this! (ignore my bad editing skills lol)

for the purposes of this post, let's call this the "standard" or "dusk" fury. you'll notice i accentuated his markings a lot more, and specifically made a bit of a stripe near his eye - that's because dragons, like birds, get the sun in their eyes a lot while flying, and i thought this coloration would suit him! i also gave him blue eyes instead of green, as green eyes are more common in melanistic animals who have blue eyes originally.

let's talk about those markings though - they would be super useful in the environment that toothless lives in: a snowy mountainous region. this is taking from snow leopards, who live in similar regions, and are VERY good at camouflage.

now, i hear you. but travers! that fury edit is basically monochromatic, how would it hide in the wild? okay, first of all, due to furies' echolocation ability, i think it's safe to assume they're night hunters. also, if you accidentally found a 26 foot long dragon, would you bother it? nah.

so what do we know about standard furies? well, what do we know about toothless, and how much of that could be adapted based on his coloring? let's list his capabilities:

- echolocation: helps him navigate in the dark for nocturnal purposes. standard furies share this trait

- retractible teeth/splitting spines: implied to be a multi-species trait. standard furies wouldn't necessarily have these

- tail fins and secondary wings: aid in turning and gliding. standard furies have these.

- strike class traits: as a strike class dragon, toothless has intelligence, speed, and a strong jaw. the standard fury would operate in the same class

- aquatic abilities: toothless can canonically swim very well! it's no surprise, due to his strong wings and tail shape - it's almost like he's build to be semi-aquatic. which makes sense, because his diet is mostly fish, and he lives in an archipelago!

so basically, night furies really are just melanistic dusk furies! because they're already nocturnal, they didn't need to evolve any further to survive.

okay. so let's talk about other members of the fury family - the light fury, and the night lights.

i will be conveniently disregarding most of httyd 3, and i apologize for that. let's focus on the light bright fury's concept art.

now, i definitely think this is a more aquatic dragon. specifically, a dragon that lives near ice - the blueish coloring, fat dispersion, thicker scales, and fins tell me that much. also, her secondary wings seem more suited for aquatic travel than long flying trips. and look closely - she has the stripe near her eyes to see better!

what's up with that tail though? there are sails on it. well, sails are actually used in temperature regulation! i'm not sure what her rounder spines could mean, but it's possible that they also let her swim better.

take a close look at her mouth in the drawings - it's almost like she has mist or fog coming out of her mouth. i mean, fire is dangerous and difficult to maintain in a cold climate. could it be that the bright fury uses mist to confuse her victims and gives them ice burns? it's possible!

(we do have to take into account that she's more into adulthood than toothless though)

so we've established three dragons in the fury family - the night fury, the dusk fury, and the bright fury. the night and bright fury are very similar except in rarity and melanin - they're semi-aquatic nocturnal strike class dragons designed to fly long distances in cold-climate island chains. however, the bright fury is a demi-aquatic strike class dragon who uses mist to entrap its victims and uses ice to kill them. they both use echolocation - the night + dusk furies in darkness, and the bright fury in snow storms.

                          A Story in Spring: Renewal {3/3}

Lithirill would ever covet the certain luxuriousness of Tirmatralian brandy.

Her eyes settled on the moon high above, full and bright, accompanied by a sea of twinkling stars that complimented the cloudless, warm night of a coming Summer. An unpleasant twinge reminded her of a far more chaotic sky-scape, where in place of stars one could argue that -worlds- floated in their place; Fate's Edge. 

Shivering free from the memory, the aeterna's fingers trembled as she brought her glass to her lips again, focusing instead on the still growing town of Darlan below. Much like she had been, the populace of surviving residents and new arrivals had busied themselves extensively in revitilization efforts.  She played as much of a part as she could, but there was a respectful distance her charges kept; at first she'd worried it was out of -fear-, but as a few of them had put it, it was more the desire to achieve it on their own.

Lithirill could respect that, pondering what more she could do to occupy her time. She had long since successfully returned Narathzul to his physical form, the man content to remain distant in her home city of Al-Rashim so he might find his footing. So too had she completed the arduous task of reconstructing a full set of seraphim wings, knowing she would never forget the spectacle of watching Arkt take flight for the first time in centuries, after so much toil. A joyous event, that had pulled even tears from the old seraph...

Her mind drifted far into the past, remembering the inspirations that had indirectly lead her here. Perhaps that was what she would do next... She had done right by both Narathzul and Arkt for their parts in seeing her this far, now was the time to pick up the old pieces of her studies; reversing the rampant magical contamination eating away at so many places.

She could start with Ostian. After all, it would be a less direct means of keeping an eye on the wily King Taranor Coarek; a man who'd already begun to grow fitful in peace time, having the audacity to proclaim in -her- name the need to "tame" the Southrealm while it was yet without a ruler. The thought didn't escape her that she -could- be more direct in keeping Nehrim from suffering even greater bloodshed...but who would she be then? A hero, or a tyrant? The answer could not be -force- when diplomacy and good sense failed, both of which she had attempted with the northern King, but what then of the indolence of ignoring him? She was all things that could proclaim the right to turn her back on petty "mortal" squabbles while she solved the world's deeper woes, yet she'd be a hypocrite at best, an exact reflection of the regime she'd brought down at worst.  It seemed no matter what she chose to do about the stirrings of yet more war, she would be at fault in some way-  she could almost hear the venerable Tyr laughing at her struggle.

The tension, despite the beauty of the skies, was palpable. The sense of foreboding hanging over her shoulders had been there since her strange dreams and her terrifying encounter with the soul wardens some months prior. The woman had been non-stop in keeping herself busy since then, but now in the idleness, how quickly that existential dread returned.

In that moment of stifling weight, came the flare of power that announced an arrival of one who always seemed to know when she danced overlong with her troubles without entertaining his considerable aged input. She kept her back turned, sipping at her brandy as she tilted her head at the heaviness of his footfalls; his strides were long, and then she heard the rustling of feathers... She figured out what was to happen all too late, as she barely had time to turn and set her glass down before Arkt's arms found themselves sweeping Lithirill cleanly off her feet, the world awhirl with motion for a handful of heartbeats as inertia flipped her stomach. She might've had something to say about how he'd plucked her from her own balcony like a hawk with a hare, but alas, she noticed first just how much -space- there was between herself and the ground, promptly -clinging- to him, turning her head into his hair.

"...Arkt, I swear to-!"  She began, feeling a wave of actual fright and quieting.   They briefly dipped in the air as Arkt wheezed with a short laugh, cracking a grin.

"Whatever is there left to swear to?  -Us-?"  

She dared to peek, an incredulous look swept off her face as she beheld Arkt in rare form.

-Joy- colored every inch of his visible features, as golden hues angled to meet her's.  

"Don't worry, you're in no danger of falling. A rather convenient current blows up into the mountains, and makes for the perfect glide from your abode to mine. This is hardly a strenuous flight."

As he spoke, she still hazarded to keep her head -away- from the yawning distance below. Securely in his grip or not, she could still imagine how quickly they'd plummet if his wings gave in any fashion. It was dreadful... It wasn't lost on her how significant this moment was likely supposed to be.

"Are you afraid of heights? Your composure on the Starship had me fooled.~" he inquired, tone as much amused as growing concerned.

"...less heights, and more freefalls." she muttered, alluding to her forays into Nehrim's deeper crevices, which she was certain he had spied upon.

Surprising her yet again, he would draw her away from the past as he pressed a kiss to her hair, keen to watch her cheeks color with some amusement.

"We'll land before you know it." he assured.

The remainder of their time in the air was spent in quiet, Lithirill resolving to take Arkt's timely arrival as the boon it was, settling into watching his feathers sway in the wind. Meditative enough that the awkwardness of the whole arrangement felt far away. Such nearness had gotten easier with time, bordering upon natural now.

As the rather humble cottage came into view, Arkt descended, his wings spreading their widest whilst letting his legs swing toward the earth, landing gracefully and without jostling his charge even a little. The opposite from the crash landing of his first attempt back in the sky.

Setting her down, he was not shy in keeping a wing curled around her while she got her feet under her, offering an apologetic smile.

"Had I known-"

Lithirill lifted a finger to his lips, seeing the seraph blink at her.

"No need for that, my dear. I think I spoiled that lovely gesture enough without you apologizing for it too.~" she murmured, letting her hand fall to her side and idly run a long feather betwixt her fingers, "By the by, was that the surprise you teased at when the snows were setting in?" 

Arkt would exhale quietly, his mane of half-curls tumbling over his shoulder as he hummed a chuckle, canting his head to the side, his eyes flicking between the door to his home and her.

"In part.  I'm surprised you recall, after so many long nights.~"  he returned, his wing curling about her form more tightly as he stepped closer, drawing her flush against him.

She took his cue, though trepidation was catching her, as ever it had and always it would, she suspected. She was, for the first time, plenty welcome as she ran a palm up his muscled form, while the other lost itself between plumage and mane. She took the time to lean back just a little to eye him up and down so she might properly observe how his physique had changed now that his wings were healthy; twas a sight to behold.

"I've said it before Arkt..." she swallowed, striving unsuccessfully to keep the fluttering from beneath her ribs inobvious, "I'm not sure there's anything you could ever do that I'd count as forgettable."

While she floundered, he was the picture of patient certainty, watching her eyes wander before he'd gently cup her jaw and reorient her point of focus.

"Hmmnh...That sounds a touch fanatical." he teased gently, keen to see the last bits of her mask fall away, revealing that quiet, over curious scholar he had been fond of ever since she meandered brave and foolish into Arktwend,  "...but I appreciate the sentiment."

Lithirill lips twitched as he held her at the precipice; again.  She prepared for the inevitable halt, the respectful redrawing of borders, and in seeing that worry play clear in her eyes, Arkt claimed her lips for his own.

He snaked an arm behind her hips, supporting her form as he indulged a thought abandoned desire, savoring each passing moment as the woman in his arms all but fell into him. Reluctantly, he pulled away, keeping her snugly in place.

"You worry too much.~"  he whispered, the statement pulling a husky chuckle out of her. "I'd have you forget your troubles for a time. Or at least until the morrow.~"

Why Lumity Is Important to TOH

So recently, I saw an argument playing out in a comment section, in which one of the people involved states “why do we need luz and amity to get together so badly, just focus on having Luz become a witch”. So putting aside the whole “its Disney first proper form of queer relationships so yes its important” debate and ignoring the fact its even gay so anyone cant say “you only like it because its gay” Lumity is an integral part of the story and its theme. Mainly, one of its themes of taking your flaws and seeing them as a source of strength rather than weakness

Lets first analyze the very first episode, where we have Luz in the office after clearly messing up and releasing snakes in the school. Now this clearly isn’t supposed to be a positive thing, and of course her mother and the principal try and figure out how to help her. The issue with this though is the way they decide how to help her, they focus on trying to get rid of her creativity and energy in its entirety as well as try and enforce reality on her heavily. They see this flaw of her, and encourage her to erase it away using force to get rid of at once, all the while while ignoring the most positive element about this: her creativity. And while yes, it was what caused the issue. They don’t try and offer help to Luz other ways that maintain her creativity while allowing her to understand what she did was bad, they instead choose the option that gets rid of her flaw in its entirety. They lack the ability to see potential and growth and only see that flaws are an issue rather than something to use to better someone

This is countered when later in the boiling isles, Luz is allowed too see her flaw as something of a source of power. When shes there, everyone is quick to point out how shes human, and how that flaw weakens her from doing magic. instead Luz uses that very flaw to find new magic in the form of drawing out the spell and finds strength in that, which even is something that gives her advantage when facing the monster in “First Day”, and thus creates something out of the very title of being human that originally made her weak.

This is shown throughout the show with many characters, willows whole arc in episode 3 is about taking her weakness in abomination magic and using that to find that shed rather do plant magic. When King struggles with his relationship with Luz and in “Really Small Problem” when the friendship bracelet between them breaks, signifying the weakness and collapse in their relationship, he then uses that broken item to save everyone and then uses the broken pieces to share the bracelet between everyone. Hell the whole story of “Adventure in the Elements”, is Luz taking this area after it being deemed useless, and then using it to save everyone and gain even more power and strength

And then, there’s Amity. Amity who’s whole character is based around the fear of being perceived as weak. Her relationship with Willow was tarnished because she was “Too weak to be her friend”, and then there’s Grom where Amity’s whole fear was being to scared to fight her own battle. And this is where her relationship with Luz comes to play. Because Luz is the one who breaks down those walls and has Amity actually display weakness.

“Convention” displays this theme perfectly and Luz and Amity’s relationship, where the two try their hardest to be seen as the stronger one. This getting to the point where both Lilith and Eda get them to cheat, just because they want to establish superiority. And when they find out, Amity is displayed to be vulnerable completely, in one of the lowest moments on the show. She even states that Luz made her look like “Fool”, to say that even then, all she cares about is what others perceive her as and whether o not the crowd saw her as a coward. So she hammers down, continuing with her debate and shunning for Luz weakness of the fact shes human and how she isn't a witch. But then Luz accepts it to Amity’s surprise saying “I’m not a witch, but im training to be one” she shows optimism and proceeds to show off her light spell, in which Amity first comments on how its beginner magic. bUt she appreciates it BECAUSE Luz’s humanism, something that previously made her weak.

From there, its because Luz was there that Amity was able to show off the sides of her that she was ashamed of. She publicly shows affection towards her favorite book character in front of Luz, after in the beginning of the episode denying her reading for kids rather than admitting she enjoys it. Understanding Willow shows this further, where Amity goes from hiding her faults and mishaps in how she treated Willow to Luz, being heavily pessimistic because of the fact she caused all of this, and due to Luz’s motivation that “We can do this together,” she was able to confront her fears, ACCEPT that she was too weak, and while it didnt fix everything it bettered their relationship. Which, without Luz, might not have happened if Luz wasnt there to support her and believe in herself. And Wing it like Witches even shows Amity frustrations with her past mistakes as grudgby captain where Luz then gives her the opportunity to use that and better her past mistakes and use it to support the team rather than do hat makes her happy, even hurting her leg and letting Willow score.

And with Luz, the support and acceptance of weakness goes far as well. Luz complains about her queasiness and fear in grom, in which amity then goes on about how Luz is incredibly brave and is able to do stuff she never could.  And in Wing it like Witches Amity even states “She can be so stupid, which I LOVE” which just shows her support, even after Luz messes up, and hurt her teammates and is stuck in a bad situation, amity still believes in her and loves her REGARDLESS of her flaws.

They both need each other as opposite ends of a spectrum, amity is a character who is depicted as perfect and luz is constantly seen as a failure. But these two NEED each other, Amity so Luz can accept the positives in her her flaws to have more confidence, and Amity needs Luz to accept that its okay to be flawed and to accept who she is to become a better person. Lumity is needed in this regard, and just the plotline having Luz becoming a witch isnt possible because in order to grow physically in terms of power Luz needs to first grow emotionally, and Amity is the best character to do this through. They need each other, you cant just erase that and have the same show because their love is that important in the theme of self acceptance.

3. What’s your favorite line of narration?

It’s hard to pick at this point, but some fun things -- I like dropping in silly kernels like this that make it clear how absolutely wild Beth’s mind is. 

Many moons ago, in a fit of curiosity or insanity, she Googled his mugshot from her arrest. She didn’t download it. That could have been incriminating, right? Instead, she opened it on the house computer in Dean’s office, and tried to understand what it was that she… liked. She had sat there for a long time and stared and stared and stared.

Or, ugh, I hate tormenting Beth but I get really into thinking about what would trigger her guilt. 

She also would do well to ignore the signs of Miriam and Marjorie’s loss permeating the house—the pictures, the tin of weathered recipe cards propped open on the kitchen counter, the doily she had seen on a little stand next to the coat rack in the foyer that had to have belonged to Dorothy. But it’s easier said than done.  

Beth listens to Marjorie, who sits opposite them, her striped feet curled up under her on the couch. As she regales them with anecdotes from her law school experience, her mother’s face is like an unavoidable beacon in the room, drawing Beth’s gaze back to the mantelpiece.

Beth begins to fully consider what she dragged herself into—lying to the bereaved.

4. What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

I am pretty obsessed with all the dialogue. Beth x Rio fighting, flirting, “fake” flirting, being awkward and repressed, and Beth + Ruby + Annie, and Beth + her kids, and Beth + Marjorie. But one example:

“Hey girlfriend.”

The most recent update was also all about them full-on embracing the fake dating lie. It’s so fun to write them bantering and riffing and all their double meanings. 

“Elizabeth was goin’ on and on about the pros and cons between the gluten-free flours. Almond this, cassava that.”

Despite herself, Beth laughs.

Rio looks back at her, tenderly, seemingly earnest to their observers, but Beth notes that particular embellished tick of his mouth. Oh, he’s having fun, is he?

“And I saw Christopher there, head spinning with all of the boxes of cake mix. The deadline for a bake sale looming—” She reaches down and plucks at the hand at her thigh, interlacing their fingers. Maybe hand-to-hand contact is safer than hand-to-thigh. They did say they were allowed to hold hands. “Utterly lost.”

Rio cants his head back and gives that deep-chested laugh. The wings ripple at his throat in that way that used to drive her insane in a previous lifetime. Beth licks her lips. His hand squeezes hers.

“And I don’t usually give out my number but she was all gorgeous and fuckin’ prim and bossy—”

“Bossy?!”

Rio nods, earnestly. “You know what they say about Virgos.”

Hold on, Beth starts, processing his comment.  She presses the crescents of her fingernails into his palm, a warning. “Excuse me?”

- it was kind of like a test to see how i could balance out quality with quantity. my canvas size has bumped up in resolution since the post from last year and im finally coloring line art, hallelujah. (i cant believe it took me so long to start doing that my old stuff was SO washed out with just black line art)

- tbh i did most of the extras (alt outfits etc) bc i thought it would be fun. and it was! well, the line art was. the coloring... oh god, what a drag. its so boring. so much procrastination... but im glad i finally got it out and just a little over a year after the first ones.

- so ya i said galar was like 90% done and NOW its like 200% done, and with that being said

- "yOu DiDnT dO tWiLiGhT wInGs ExClUsIvE oUtFiTs OR ThE cOrViKnIgHt TaXi DrIvEr" and my response is: when does it end, susan? MAYBE i will end up doing them. but it took me two months along with all that art i posted earlier this month and im tired. im not doing them today, not tomorrow, not for a while. galar is DONE i want to move on

- so the take away from the test is. i am not doing that again. JDGFG. the alt outfits and designs (basically the entirety of part 3)... i wont be including those in ref batch posts from now on. it was a lot. when i draw extras like that, ill just do it whenever. im not making them priority like i did with the posts from today.

- tbh i MIGHT aim to get gen 7 done this year. i can try it. i ACTUALLY have a few sketches done already so theres hope.

- firstly, tumblrs image limit forces me to put multiples on the same canvas, which i finally decided to take advantage of and have a few interactions that i wouldnt have done if i could just post them all individually so i think thats neat. adds some substance i think.

- ik honey has a team but i didnt like any of them for her so its free real estate
