heeseung with a corruption kink and maybe size kink too 🤐 please this man makes me SO horny
you know what, for as much as I love writing y/n to be an absolute bitch who isn’t innocent, this trope is kinddddd of my guilty pleasure
also I was gonna add a short something about a girl who wants to fuck heeseung walking in on them but didn’t because it didn’t flow hahahah maybe next time
read part 2 here
***
You don’t see a clock in Heeseung’s bedroom but it probably wouldn’t matter any way. Why would you need to know the time when he’s lying on top of you and kissing your neck like this?
Heeseung’s breath is hot and jagged as he moves his lips across your skin, occasionally nipping at the open area to hear you moan in his ear. You sound out of practice, like this is something you don’t do very often, and that realization makes Heeseung feel hot all over.
“You smell good,” he mumbles against you. “What perfume are you wearing?”
“Tom Ford,” comes your meek reply. “Got it for my birthday.”
Heeseung pushes himself to the other side of your face and presses his mouth along your jawline. “Wear it more often.” He chuckles when he feels you nodding against him and licks the skin right underneath your ear before kissing it.
Your body delightfully reacts to this sudden pressure and your legs widen even further. Heeseung takes one of your legs and wraps it around his body while the other caresses the side of your other. If there’s one thing you’ve learned about the boy you just met an hour ago, it’s that he knows how to kiss. The sensation of his fingertips in combination with his mouth makes your toes curl.
“Are you shy?” Heeseung asks when your hands remain on his bed. He pulls away to look down at you biting your lip.
“Out of practice.” Though, you’re sure Heeseung can’t tell the difference. You are a little shy, though, but you don’t want to tell him that.
He smiles down at you and bites his lip. It’s unfair how sexy he looks. “That’s okay. It’s what I’m here for, yeah?” Heeseung brings your hands to his arms and encourages you to touch him too. “You can touch me.”
When he sees you nod, he pushes himself up and trails his fingers until they’re pushing your dress up your body. He ghosts just over your pussy and you’re starting to love this kind of attention. “Can I touch you here?”
Heeseung is pleased when you nod. He brings two fingers to rub over you in slow circles and sees the way your brows furrow when he touches you like this. He’s being a bit slow and deliberate. Truthfully, he’d typically choose to sleep with someone who has more experience—he really loves it when a he can force his dick down somebody’s throat—but you were so nice and polite when his roommate introduced you to the small group of friends gathered by the pool table in the foyer of this gigantic house party.
There’s muffled sound from beyond his bedroom door but that does nothing to drown out the sound of your moans when he rubs on your clit.
Heeseung loves girls who get wet really fast. You’re no exception.
“You got wet from a little bit of kissing?” The man above you smiles down like he’s teasing you and when you look up at him all bashful, he can’t help but laugh and kiss your cheek. “That’s okay. I think that’s really hot.”
He taps your covered folds and hears the sound of wetness splashing against his fingers and grunts. You squeeze his biceps and he loves how you’re starting to get bolder with him too, sliding your leg against him as you relax against his touch.
Heeseung resumes kissing your neck and travels down your body. His movements are slow and deliberate when he pulls the top of your dress down until your tits are spilling out of it. He moves to your nipple and sucks on it as your arms find their way to his head. He hums against your chest and toys with the other one, gently pinching and tugging at your hardened nub and moving his mouth over to give it the same treatment.
Eventually, he moves down your body until he’s eye level with your drenched pussy. Heeseung spreads your legs until both feet are planted on his mattress and holds the back of your thighs to prevent you from squirming more than you already are. The way he’s looking at you makes your face feel hot.
“Can I lick you here too?” When you nod, he shakes his head. “Words, baby. Can I? Please?”
How could you ever say no?
“Yes.”
Heeseung smiles at that. His tongue pokes out of his mouth and he uses the tip to trace up your covered slit. He catches your back when you start to arch and coaxes you back down with a gentle touch.
When your hand finds his, Heeseung chuckles against your pussy. His warm breath feels sensational.
“Wanna hold my hand?” You don’t answer but tangle your fingers in his. He’s not used to sex being like this and girls who’ve been in your position usually urge him to go faster and get them off. But Heeseung finds that doesn’t really mind this. “Hold my hand, baby. Give it a squeeze if you need to.”
Heeseung resumes licking you and praises the sheer fabric you decided to wear today. “Your panties are so cute.” He licks you up and loves the sensation of it against his tongue paired with the way you taste. He rolls his eyes back and bucks his hips against the side of the bed, moaning into your pussy at the fraction of pressure. “I bet your pussy’s cuter.”
He pushes your underwear aside and marvels at the way you’re convulsing around nothing. You don’t seem to mind his ministrations either because you don’t protest. In fact, you push your hips towards him and Heeseung takes the hint.
He latches his mouth onto you and kisses your pussy like he’s trying to commit your body to his memory. His tongue glides over your folds and inside of your hole too, methodically bringing you pleasure from his mouth alone.
You think he must really love doing this because you look down and see his eyes are closed. What’s even hotter to you is that one of his hands left your thighs so that he can jerk himself off at the same time. You don’t see it but you see the way his shoulder moves and it makes you moan.
“Yeah,” he mutters against you. “Moan for me.”
You do, so much so that Heeseung keeps licking and sucking until you’re coming on his mouth. He laps it all up until he’s pushing his body upright and taking off his boxers just below his balls to free himself.
He’s so big. It makes your mouth water.
“You have the tiniest pussy I’ve ever seen,” Heeseung says with wide eyes. He strokes his cock a few times with the precum that’s oozing out of him. Heeseung taps your slit with his tip and the warm feeling makes your body arch.
“You ready for some cock, baby?” Truthfully, you aren’t. Not with his size. Him being as big as he is wasn’t something you anticipated. You tell him that much and expect him to kick you out of his room but all he does is pull your soiled panties over your pussy and lets his gigantic dick rest between your slit. He hears you meekly asking to keep grinding and nods, pushing his body down against yours. “We can keep doing like this. I love grinding.”
He doesn’t typically, not that anyone’s given him the chance to really try it out. But his cock is so hard that he thinks this might be the best thing after hard sex. Picturing the two of you having a a wet, rough fuck makes him grind faster.
Heeseung’s got your legs around him and you hold onto his body like a boa constrictor but he loves this type of neediness. He doesn’t get it from other girls and it makes him feel like pushing his cock into your pussy anyway. But he doesn’t. Although he wonders if you’ll ever work your way up to letting him do it.
“This feels so good,” Heeseung moans truthfully. He loves the way your eyes shut and how your mouth parts just wide enough for him to know you love it too. “I wanna fuck you for real one day.”
“I want that too.”
“Is that right?” Heeseung kisses your lips. “We’ll have to work our way to it, won’t we?”
He fucks his cock against your underwear until you cum against him with a choked moan right into his ear. That alone makes his hips stutter. He pulls himself upright and watches as his cum shoots right out of him and onto the fabric, the white ribbons gushing out of him like he’s never seen before.
Heeseung pushes his hips to gather his own release to move it around your mound. It’s so hot the way you’re looking at him. He almost thinks you’d beg him to put it in.
But you don’t. Not yet, anyway. He cleans you up and doesn’t let you get up until he’s sure you’re all good to go.
You think he might kick you out since you know he’s not the kind of guy to let a girl stick around so you start fixing your dress. When you stand up and reach for the door, he pulls you back by the hand and pushes your body against the wall.
“Where you goin’, baby?” That pet name he’s been calling you all night drives you crazy.
“Oh, I, um…didn’t think you wanted me to stay any longer.” He laughs and shakes his head, his lips kissing the side of your neck.
“Wanna get breakfast with you tomorrow. Is that okay?”

Sirius asks Remus to move in with him after Hogwarts, because he figures the best way to let Remus know he's interested in him is to make a big move. Remus accepts, and Sirius thinks great! We're dating now! Remus does not know this, however. Sirius proceeds to romance the fuck out of Remus for the next year, which Remus misinterprets as Sirius just being a Really Good Friend. They don't have sex bc clearly Remus is shy and Sirius is willing to wait for him! Anyway Remus doesn't figure out they're dating until their first anniversary dinner. Is this anything.
oh my god, sirius makes dinner reservations and tells remus ‘wear something nice ;)’ and remus thinks this is a dig at his wardrobe but well, sirius isn’t WRONG, so he puts on his best jumper and the cords without the holes in them, and they go out to a fancy dinner together, and sirius orders the good wine and surprises him with a thoughtful gift, and remus is feeling a bit overwhelmed by how good of a friend sirius is being! sirius looks a little hurt that he didn’t get him something, which is odd bc he of course loves to give sirius little gifts when he finds something that he thinks sirius will like, but it’s never a formal thing? and then sirius is asking ‘you forgot, didn’t you? :(‘ and remus is so confused bc he can be a bit forgetful sometimes but he of course knows sirius’s birthday and padfoot’s birthday and any other day that could possibly be important to sirius! so remus is all bashful like, ‘i’m really sorry I have no idea what I’ve forgotten” and sirius is all shocked kitten, ‘our anniversary?!?!’ and now remus is very confused bc their friendship anniversary is an Event with james. so finally sirius reminds him that he asked him out exactly one year ago today. and remus is now thinking of all possible other definitions of asking someone out when it finally hits sirius that remus has no idea they’re dating. sirius is now mortified, but remus is very excited to learn that sirius is his boyfriend! and then he’s like “but we’ve never had sex???” (they’ve done other things and usually share a bed but that’s just friend stuff!) and sirius says he thought remus was just shy. and remus is like “I am not that shy I would fuck you on this table if you asked” and then everyone else in the restaurant has a very awkward night the end.

featuring: rindou haitani x reader notes: nothing but pure fluff, friends to lovers, and rindou learning how to decipher his own emotions
Summary: rindou discovering what love is and how the object of his affection happens to be you
Tumblr media
Rindou couldn't explain how it all started or what it was about you made his feelings evolve into something more.
When he first met you, all he could say was that he felt indifferent and you seemed like every other person he ever met. You weren't a fighter apart from any gang, just a regular person who lived a life so different from his own. You didn't like violence nor could he say you were comfortable with seeing people getting hurt. It made sense to him why it was the way it was since you were essentially opposites with no chance of getting along.
It was like fate was mocking him by letting you two meet everywhere he went. Not only did he attend the same school as you - you were his classmate by complete chance, thus increasing the likelihood of him seeing you. All he could do was ignore you whenever you attempted to talk to him every morning before classes would start. Why? He didn’t know, but he also didn’t know why you were so nice to him either despite him ignoring you. He assumed at some point you would figure it out; maybe you did but chose to ignore it.
However, over time, he just couldn’t do it. You were nice and he could see it. He'd be an idiot to not see you were friendly because you genuinely wanted to be friends, and not someone approaching him with a hidden agenda. He already had enough of the unspoken competition between him and his brother. As much as he loved Ran, he grew tired of living in his shadow and just wanted to be his own person.
“Why do you even bother with me? You know I deliberately ignored you right?” He remembered asking you one day when you both were eating ice cream together.
You looked over at him in surprise “Huh? What do you mean?”
“Like trying to befriend me and whatnot. I’ve never seen anyone as insistent as you” He responded to you nonchalantly, though he would see you huffing in the corner of his eye. “Well excuse me for bothering you with my friendship”
Rindou snorted at the sound of you complaining “I’m not complaining now that I know you. It’s just…” he paused before looking down “I’m used to people approaching me because they need my strength, or they’re just using me as a means to get to Ran and I didn’t know where you were in all of that.”
He was being insecure. He knew he was in the way he was second-guessing his relationship with you. He also knew that saying it would sound as if he was accusing you; but at the same time, he wanted to protect the Rindou in the future; the Rindou who would end up getting hurt the most.
After a moment of silence, he looked over at you to see you in deep thought of yourself. He took that silence as admittance and it did ache him until you opened your mouth. “You know Rindou…I get where you’re coming from, I do. If I were in your place, I probably would be feeling the same way too.” You said with a shrug before you smiled at him, “Can’t speak for others; but for me and I’ll be real now; if I wanted to befriend Ran, I just would’ve done that already.” You continued, greatly emphasizing the ‘if’. “I don’t see why I’d have to get through you to be his friend. Seems like a very roundabout way of doing things if you ask me. I wanted to get to know you because you seemed like a nice guy”
Rindou frowned and scrunched his eyebrows. “You are aware I’m in a gang, right? Unless your standards are that low” to which you nudged his shoulder with a chuckle. “Oh shut it. You know what I mean. As much as I don’t like the whole gang scene, I do like talking to you. I don’t like your taste in music either but I do like the way you get so passionate over it.”
Rindou scoffed as he nudged you right back “And now you’re bashing my taste in music? Has anyone ever told you that you suck at comforting someone?” You rolled your eyes as you laughed at him. “I never claimed to be good at it”
“Clearly”
“Oi!” You huffed at him as you ate the remainder of your ice cream. “The point is, even though we don’t have too many things in common, I still consider you a good friend. You don’t mince words. When you’re happy about something, you genuinely are, and I appreciate that about you.” You said softly, eyes averting away from him. “I feel comfortable around you enough that I can just be myself. It’s usually so hard to have that with people, but it feels so easy around you because you don’t judge.”
“I mean I judge your taste in music”
“Rindou, shut the fuck up. I’m trying to have a moment with you here”
“You certainly became more foul after meeting me” Rindou chuckled, his heart feeling lighter. He never knew how you did it but you always had a way of getting him to smile. When he looked over at you to throw in another jab, he could see the back of your neck and ears red. Were you feeling embarrassed? He never noticed it before but at that moment, you felt cute to him, not that he would ever admit it.
Over the months of getting to know you, he started noticing things about you: your taste in fashion; food you didn’t like and tried to discard secretly, hoping no one would notice; your tells when you were put in situations you weren’t comfortable it. He didn’t know how he noticed it and made those connections in his head, but he did. He once ordered something for you before you could even tell him you wanted it. It was weird, and he didn’t know what it was but he brushed it off as knowing you well enough.
Then there were days when he would feel bitter. He didn’t know if it was directed at you, but he noticed the trend that it always seemed to occur when you happened to be around other people. It was weird to him. Since when did he start feeling bitter about you having other friends? He had friends of his own who had friends of their own but he couldn’t really recall having similar feelings around them, so why was that the case with you?
One day he accidentally stumbled across someone confessing their feelings towards you, and seeing you getting flustered over it. From what normally should’ve been a situation where he would use it as leverage to tease you, he could only feel bitterness grow as he stormed off. Rindou chose to pretend like it never happened as he never once brought it up to you, so he never knew whether or not you were already dating that person.
It was until one day when you had awkwardly brought it up to him during lunch, as you laughed about it, a blush showing clearly across your face.“So are you dating that person now or what?” Rindou asked with an attempt to sound indifferent, trying to mask that bitterness festering again in him. “Oh no, I rejected them. While I did feel guilty, I just don’t see myself dating someone I don’t like.” Rindou’s ears perked up at your words as his heart once again felt lighter. “Oh really? That’s a shame” he responded, this time unable to hide a grin from his face.
He didn’t know what those feelings were anymore. Was it only because he considers you as a friend or was it something else entirely? He remembered asking Ran one night, who only laughed at him and told him he’d figure it out eventually. Certainly no help there in giving him answers.
Heading into the cooler months, as the seasons changed from summer to fall, he still hadn’t figured anything out to his dismay. Damn Ran and his insistence to not tell him anything, yet did everything to make fun of him.
Rindou then heard a ding from his phone, snapping him out of his thoughts. He received a message from you asking him if he’d like to see the trees with you. He was amused at your timing, it was like you knew he was thinking about you. He responded with a ‘yes’ without hesitation.
The both of you had agreed to meet up at the park, and Rindou had arrived there momentarily so that he wouldn’t keep you waiting any longer. Upon reaching you, he was surprised to see you already there with coffee in hand for both of you. “You got here fast, and with coffee too?” He asked with a chuckle, taking the coffee from you. “I was already at the park when I messaged you, so when you said yes I figured I might as well get some coffee too as thanks.” Rindou hummed in response as he sipped his coffee. It was exactly how he preferred it.
As you both took a stroll around the park, he couldn’t help but chuckle at seeing how excited you were over the leaves changing color. “Does seeing trees make you that happy?” He asked with a tease. You shook your head with a sigh “Geez, it’s not just about the trees. It’s about appreciating the way it looks. It can be pretty to look at if you give it a chance.”
Rindou turned his head in the direction of the trees, staring at the leaves. Some of them were still green, but you could see them slowly transitioning into a vibrant orange. “Uh huh…I guess,” he said unimpressed by it. He wasn’t someone who cared for nature all that much, but he did it because you liked it. As he turned his head to speak to you, he couldn’t help but pause at seeing how enamored you almost seemed at the sight of the leaves.
Just then, he saw a singular leaf fall from the tree and land directly on your head.  “Looks like you’re becoming one with nature already hmm?” He said with a laugh, as he plucked the leaf from your hair, handing it to you instead. His eyes widened as he saw your eyes light up, giving him a wide smile in return. He doesn’t recall seeing you make that face, but it got his heart racing to the point he felt like time had stopped.
Oh shit
Suddenly everything made sense to him at that very moment. What those feelings were. It was love, wasn’t it?
Rindou couldn’t help but smile now that he found his answer. Not only does he want to see you smile more, he wants to see you smile at him specifically.
“I do see the beauty in it now…” he said with a mumble, his ears turning red at him vocalizing it for the first time.
“Hey, Rin!” You called out to him, not hearing what he said earlier as you were distracted by the leaf. “I guess you could say it really is Fall huh?” you said with a grin on your lips.
Rindou let out a sigh hearing your attempt at making a pun, but that being said he still couldn’t help but smile at you.
You really can’t choose who you fall in love with huh?

The hand rubbing scene is the gayest sex scene GMMtv has ever had on screen, allow me to explain to you why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Now I can’t speak as someone who is completely blind (obviously) but I can speak as someone who has been progressively losing their sight for the past 15 years - ironically enough from a car accident. Why hello Day, I see you! (pun intended) But I’m also a person who grew up HoH (hard of hearing) from the age of two years old onward, I had tubes put in my ears, wore hearing aids, the whole shebang. The chances of me actually regaining my ability to hear completely was very very slim, the fact that I did actually end up regaining some - not all - of my hearing by my late twenties was a damn shock to us all. The point being, when you are a person who’s lost one of your senses that you are used to having, your body starts to overcompensate.
Most everyone has heard/read/seen things about how removing one sense can lead to your other ones becoming stronger. There’s even been studies that show people born deaf or deafened at a very young age, that their brain starts to rewire itself to allow them to experience sound in a visual way, via touch. It’s sort of like how blind people learn to read braille in a way, the touch creates a picture in your mind allowing you to see the way that word looks and sounds and feels. Theres a whole bit in Scientific America you can check out if you want that breaks it down in layman terms without the writing acting like you’re stupid, which is always nice when it comes to medical jargon lol.
So my point that to Day, his sense of touch is not only in overdrive because it like much of the rest of his senses - smell seems to be a big one they’re leading with - are scambling to try and overcompensate for the sudden lack of sight that is getting worse as time passes. But because he had pulled away from basically the entire world post blindness setting in, spending the last year of his life in his room hardly interacting with anyone, his own mother and brother barely being allowed to touch him. That for Day, his sense of touch is absolutely frantic. Which is why it’s so important for Mhok to constantly place his hands on him, not only to help lead him back into the world but to allow Day to recognize him by touch alone. And it’s being shown that he is, Day already knows Mhok’s voice and it’s touched a bit on the way he smells (ciggs) but this last episode is really starting to show how the touch of people is starting to fully affect Day, especially when he’s out of the house and how Mhok is instantly recognized even though he always follows up his touch with a vocal confirmation that it is in fact him that is touching Day.
So that hand stroking scene, the way Mhok runs the pads of his fingers gently up the centre of Day’s palm, how he strokes the back of his hand like it’s a kitten. That right there could genuinely feel like sex to Day, if not sexual in manner at the very least. The fuzzy look Day gets in his eyes, going from blank, to blissful to bashful and then finally awkward. It wasn’t just because of the fact that the dude he lowkey is starting to have a crush on is rubbing his hand in what I’m seeing being called a ‘weirdly intimate way’. It’s because Day’s body and brain is reacting to that touch in a way that people with all five senses might not completely comprehend, imagine your most intense erogenous zone (btw the palms of the hands are occasionally considered one) now imagine if that intensity was ramped up by ten, or twenty or even fifty and then imagine that that erogenous zone was suddenly everywhere. The most innocuous part of your body could bring you the most incredible sensations, both sexual and emotional, that’s what Day is feeling.
Mhok, now Mhok, he’s not stupid. Far from it in fact, he’s clued in on that not only is Day queer but also that he has a bit of a crush on him. Mhok has also quickly adapted to how he needs to teach Day to see the world in a new way, hence all the touching and smelling and reinforcement that Day can in fact do things for himself, including asking for help when he needs it. So Mhok knew exactly what he was doing with the hand rubbing, sort of. Did he know the sensation would be heightened, my best bet is totally. But did he expect to have his reaction to it go beyond that of teasing? Given his own bashfulness, doubtful. When you’re dating someone with a loss of one or many senses, you tend to change your own preconceived notions of what intimacy with your partner is. For some people offering a foot rub to their partner is a clear come on, an offer for something to lead to more. But for a blind person, especially a newly blind person like Day. They use their hands to navigate their entire world - you literally read with your fingers - so a blind persons hands are basically their most important tools in a lot of ways. To have someone touch your hands with such care, such reverence, it’s not just intimate, it’s full on foreplay.
Mhok wasn’t just touching Day, he was touching Day. It was meant to be seen as intimate because it was intimate, so intimate, in a way I don’t think either Mhok nor Day were expecting it to be because neither had ever experienced something like that before. That scene was truly the beginning of their relationship shifting, that hand scene was kind of like their first kiss.

I found a probably illegal fighting range posting as a gym near my house and so, picture THIS
Engel just wanted to get a good workout near the place she lives. Not knowing German, she just googled first thing that popped near her on the map, and decided to get a first workout just so think if this place works for her.
Konig, getting his steam off in barely legal fighting range and very nasty, testosterone-filled gym while he is out of deployments. Engel in her dumb little workout clothes, with her silly water bottle, probably pink or baby blue or lavender, stands in front of the administrator desk because she was told it was a gym(((
Konig who uses her as a workout now!! Not even in a nasty way, just making her sit on him and so on, for the added weight. Bench presses with her on his back((( makes her cheer for his fight and acts like nasty personal trainer
My fellow yandere pookie!! I love this ask! 💋
I bet König would love to parade his sweet angel around some nasty, testosterone-filled gym/ fighting range :( Loves to show her off and also wants to murder anyone who dares to look at her! She’s too cute when she’s sweating and panting like that, don't you dare check her out when she's exerting herself in those dumb, tight sports clothes or else you'll get yourself a new asshole....
At least 90 % of the “customers” are men seeking a brawl so Engel stands out like a sore thumb, taking hungry gulps from her pink water bottle which is the only spot of colour in the bleak brutal gym. A kind, sweet girl just trying to have a nice lil workout, and they can’t turn her away because they have to pose as a real gym… (lol I’m not surprised Engel somehow managed to get herself into a situation like this AGAIN)
And König is so proud of her! Trying to attempt a squat PR with weights he uses for a quick warmup, it's too adorable. He cheers her on when she’s trying to do her very first chin up – he has to help her up because the bar is positioned too high.
These two are simply disgusting because Engel will flirt through the mirror as revenge for König being low key nasty, always putting his hands around her middle, trying to remind her to keep her core tight or some silly stuff like that. Climbs on his lap when he’s trying to bench press, they get a warning because they’re distracting the other “customers” and look it’s also potentially dangerous. König knows it but he’s got his pump on and it makes him a little soft in the head, besides Engel trying to help him in her own way only makes him lift more because of course he has to show off to her and to the other men. He’s the strongest male around here and he’s having fun with his darling angel, everyone else can fuck off with their warnings and rules.
And NOO not König kicking everyone’s butt at the range while Engel watches him with wide eyes 🥺 He’s being so violent again, she doesn’t know if she’s grossed out or aroused :// It might be a little sick but they both get turned on by this, König “letting out steam” and Engel being his “innocent” little cheerleader. They go home and take a shower together, Engel cleans his wounds too, whispering confessions on how scared she was – when in reality she knew all along that König would destroy those guys, like is this the same girl who screamed from joy when he bashed someone's face in lol – and König being more than happy to have a worried but sparkly eyed angel, fussing about his health after he just gave some poor guy a free nose job.

"secret admirer" - dead poets society (part 3)
summary: y/n joins meeks and pitts for a study session
pairing: anonymous!dead poet x gender neutral reader
word count: 977
previous | next
Tumblr media
Y/N approached the bespectacled boy before they could lose their nerve.
“Hey—Meeks, right?”
“Yeah,” he stumbled a bit, surprised to be approached by his usually reserved classmate, “you’re Y/N.”
Y/N chuckled, “that I am.”
He signaled to the taller boy waiting for him by the door—Pitts, Y/N remembered—before he gave them an easy smile, "what can I do for you?"
“You tutor Latin, right? I could use a study partner that actually knows what they're doing,” a laugh, "if you have the time, of course.”
"Oh, sure," he glanced at his watch, “Pitts and I are going to the library during common hour if you want to meet us there.”
Y/N touched Meek’s arm briefly, “thanks, Steven. You're a lifesaver.”
The boy turned a shade of red that rivaled his hair and excused himself.
Relief bloomed in Y/N’s chest as they released a breath they didn’t realize they were holding. Their half-cocked plan was in motion.
_________________________________________
“So much for ‘we’re just going to have to wait and find out’ huh?” Quinn mocked Y/N from their seat at the lunch table.
“Well I can’t just let him be the only player in this whole thing,” Y/N shook the latest letter around, “if he wants to play a game, I want to be the one winning.”
“Y/N, the man is infatuated with you. I wouldn’t exactly call it a game.”
Y/N huffed as they shoved the letter back into their bag, “these things are starting to get annoying.”
“Oh, yeah,” Quinn rolled their eyes, “it must be such a burden to have Whitman reincarnate writing you love letters.”
“Whatever.”
“So, what is your plan, exactly?” Quinn asked around a mouthful of pasta.
Y/N was suddenly bashful, “I honestly didn’t think I would get this far.”
Quinn stared blankly back at Y/N.
“This is the part where you tell me what to do, Quinnie.”
“Torture. Medieval style. Get your answers.”
“You’re truly unbelievable,” Y/N ran a hand through their hair and stood from the table, “I’m going to be nice, and I’m going to study latin. Roll with the punches.”
_________________________________________
Meeks was mildly surprised when Y/N actually showed up at the library. He was well aware that Y/N wasn’t struggling with the subject matter—Welton made sure that its students knew who was at the top of the academic food chain. He was one of the rare lucky ones to be among them. He was curious why Y/N sought him out, but he knew better than to push the subject.
It took nearly all of common hour before Y/N started to feel at ease around the two boys. It seemed the feeling was mutual.
“So, Y/N,” Pitts started, looking bored by his trig homework, “have any hobbies?”
“A few,” Y/N muttered as they finished their last verb conjugation, “I like to read and write. I used to draw, but I barely have time to breathe outside of schoolwork.”
The boys shared a glance that Y/N couldn’t quite decode.
“Welton isn’t exactly a breeding ground for creativity,” Meeks sighed.
“That’s an understatement,” Y/N scoffed, “Welton is where creativity comes to die.”
Another look between the boys.
“Touch,” Meeks drawled, “so…you’re roommates with Quinn, right?”
Pitts grinned as a blush tinted Meeks’ cheeks.
Y/N raised their eyebrows, breaking into a cheeky smile, “yeah, I am.”
Meeks was suddenly very interested in the wall, the bookshelves, his textbook—anything other than Y/N, really.
“Are they…seeing anybody?”
Pitts laughed, earning a scolding hush from the librarian.
“No, they’re not,” Y/N smiled, “I’ll put in a good word for you, Meeks.”
Relief flooded the boy’s features and he was finally able to look at Y/N again, “thanks. I—”
“Like you could pin down someone like Quinn.”
Charlie Dalton had a habit of showing up at the worst times.
“Very nice, Dalton,” Y/N closed their book and slid it into their bag, “that’s my cue to leave.”
“Oh, please. I—”
“Don’t let him get in your head, Meeks,” Y/N looked between their study partners, “see you two around.”
Before Y/N could leave, Pitts called out, “we’re usually here during common hour,” he laughed and nudged Meeks with his elbow, “maybe you could bring Quinn next time.”
Meek’s head turned to Y/N so fast they thought his neck would snap, “could you?”
They grinned, “I’ll see what I can do.”
Y/N could hear the three boy’s rushed whispers as the door closed behind them.
_________________________________________
“So you don’t think it’s either of them? Why?”
Y/N turned onto their side in bed, facing Quinn, who was doing the same.
“I don’t know,” Y/N looked at their nails, “I could just tell they weren’t interested like that.”
Quinn scoffed, “well, we’ve established that you aren’t exactly aware when people are interested like that.”
“Well, they gave me a pretty open invitation to join them again,” Y/N smirked, “maybe you could come and run interference.”
“You’re not taking this seriously enough, Y/N.”
“Whatever,” Y/N flipped to face the wall, “goodnight.”
Y/N couldn’t fall asleep, though.
The issue with infatuation is that it’s nearly impossible to not let it consume you at all times. It burrows deep into the fibers of your very being and suddenly you’re fully engulfed by the idea of that person.
And that’s all this was, really—an idea of a person. Y/N didn’t know what their admirer looked like, how they acted, or even if their proclamations were truthful. Could reality meet the expectations being set by the letters? Y/N didn’t want to admit it to themselves, but they were afraid to find out.
Y/N dreamed of a faceless poet that night.
Their heart ached in the morning.

How the Squad Found Out About that One Time Riven and Flora Kissed
First part of the chapter takes place during s4, second part is back in s2 ch28, right after the end of the chapter.
I’d originally planned to have Flo and Riv kiss in that chapter but decided against it last minute cause I just wasn’t sure how to make it clear that, while there could’ve been something there, and they both feel that, there are no actual romantic feelings between the two.
The possibility of them? Yes. the reality of them? No.
I feel like Riven and Flora have the most distinct platonic soulmate relationship, mainly because they’re the main ones I really could see falling for each other if things had been different and if they hadn’t meet Musa and Helia and I wanted to get that across in a poetic way but not a tragic way ya know? They didn’t lose anything for not falling for each other in this universe and they are still a huge part of each other’s lives if that makes sense?
Whatever, I’ll stop rambling, hope u enjoy this little drabble! I will be posting it on AO3 probably later on
***
It’d been a slow week, no activity from the Wizards and Roxy’s classes progressing nicely.
The squad had decided to have a quiet game night, with some alcohol coming into the mixture at some point.
At the moment, they were playing Truth or Dare.
In all honesty, there was very little they didn’t know about each other, but even after so long, there were still a few things that could surprise them from time to time.
Stella considered her turn, the bottle on the ground dictating that she’d gotten Riven.
The coward had chosen truth.
There were few things she could ask him that could result in anything majorly interesting.
Unless… Stella glanced towards Flora, who was leaning against Helia, his arm wrapped around her shoulders.
Anyone who had eyes could tell Flora and Riven had adored each other since their first year. That was obvious. At this point it was also obvious that, while they didn’t see each other as siblings, they didn’t see each other in any kind of romantic light either.
…but she would be lying if she said that she wasn’t curious about whether or not they ever had, even for a fleeting moment. Especially since she did remember one particular evening during their second year in which they’d both seemed… almost bashful with each other.
Should she?
Stella slowly leaned back against Brandon’s chest, meeting Riven’s challenging look, “Okay, I know what I want to ask.”
Riven spread his hands, “Go on then buttercup.”
“Have you ever… kissed someone in this room-” she ignored the snorts, continuing, “who wasn’t Musa?”
Riven froze for a split second, clearly flabbergasted before casting a single quick glance towards Flora, who had sunk into Helia’s arms, covering her face as she flushed.
“Listen-”
“I FUCKING KNEW IT!” Stella shouted, slamming a hand against the ground.
Musa broke down into giggles as she turned to Riven, “What?”
“No- it- it was before we were dating obviously. It was dumb we just…”
“We were fucking up a lot with you two so we got a little drunk and we kissed to seal our depressing marriage pact.” Flora explained.
Helia chuckled under his breath before turning to Riven with mock anger, “You got a marriage pact with my girl? What happened to the bro code?”
“We were drunk, depressed and hating on love. She was obsessed with you, I was obsessed with Musa but we were fully convinced we’d just fucked everything up for good- cut us some slack man!”
They all burst out laughing, clinging to each other as they Flora somehow sunk further into the floor and Riven hid his face in Musa’s neck.
***
Flora was thinking, unable to focus on the book in her hand. She could feel the alcohol at the base of her skull, a dull thump, barely there but just present enough to make her think.
She’d freaked out on Helia.
Riven loved her. He was her person.
Did that mean something? Or did she just want a connection that her baggage didn’t impede?
She turned to him, watching him as he tinkered on one of his projects, trying to think objectively.
He noticed after a moment, meeting her gaze, “Something wrong?”
“No, I was just… thinking.”
“About?”
He’d freaked out on Musa.
Flora loved him. She was his person.
But how did she love him? Was her mind playing tricks on her?
“Have you ever thought… that maybe… you and I should try?”
One of his eyebrows slowly rose up as he set down his tools and fully turned to face her, crossing his arms and leaning back, “I won’t lie… the thought did cross my mind once or twice… before I really started catching feelings for Musa. You?”
“Same. Before I fell for Helia… I don’t know, maybe I thought about it in passing.” But she would’ve never acted on it even back then because she knew Musa had a crush.
“It’s weird isn’t it… if not just sad. That we’ve had so little love in our lives that now we’re doubting what we have.” Riven muttered under his breath, letting his head fall back as he sighed.
“Yeah… should we… do something about it?”
“Like what?”
“I don’t know.”
Riven raised his head, inspecting her before going to join her on the small couch, sitting besides her.
“Should we kiss?” He asked, it sounded like he was asking himself just as much as he was asking her.
Flora considered, “I mean… could be like… sealing the marriage pact?” She took a deep breath, shaking off her nerves, this was her person, worst case scenario, it might be a bit gross, “Okay. I’m in if you’re in.”
Riven nodded along, “Okay.”
He leaned down to meet her halfway. It was a hesitant, yet gentle kiss, soft and slow as they both tried to figure out how they felt about it.
Seconds passed and they pulled apart, both leaning against the couch, staring at the wall before them.
“I mean… it didn’t feel… wrong.” She started hesitantly.
“But it didn’t feel right either.”
“Exactly.”
They glanced at each other before laughing light-heartily. Blushing out of embarrassment and awkwardness.
“If things were different… maybe then.” He said after a long minute.
She shrugged, bumping her shoulder against his, “Maybe in another life.”
He snorted, “Yeah, maybe in another life.”

Lil Forehead Kiss
Tumblr media
Summary: You're known amongst your friends as the person who give out hugs, high fives, and platonic forehead smooches to everyone. Except your crush. What happens when you slip up? Will he reject you, or will it open a door to a new possibility?
WC: 1.6K
AN: Thank you @wtv-my-current-hyperfixation for requesting this story! This fluffy piece is based of this request and it was a joy to write!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If there’s one thing you’re known for, it’s being a very affectionate person. You never shy away from showing casual affection to your friends. It’s second nature to you to lean in for a hug or reach for a high five each time you see someone.
You’re always cautious about not crossing boundaries with people, and you know who doesn’t like to be touched, and you make sure to respect that and give them their space.
Especially since it’s not always just hugs and high fives. You’ll hold hands, give little shoulder rubs, even press a friendly kiss to someone’s cheek or forehead. It’s no big deal to you, and you’ll give everyone who likes it this treatment, doesn’t matter if they’re a girl, a boy, nonbinary, makes no difference to you. Everyone deserves a little love!
But then there’s Damien. The one person you struggle to show this affection to. Not for a bad reason, but because, well, you have a crush. Have since the day you met him. Which was on your second day as an editor for Smosh Games. Probably not the best time to develop feelings for a coworker.
He’s just so funny, and sweet, and gentle, there’s no way not to love him. But he doesn’t need to know that. Honestly you’d probably die of embarrassment if someone found out, especially if Damien himself were to find out.
So you keep your distance from him. No hugs, no hand holding, no platonic smooches. Because with him, you’re not sure you could keep it platonic. Best to avoid the situation all together.
Damien has noticed that you’re less tactile worth him than others. He’s admittedly a little bummed about it, but he keeps that to himself. He knows that when he started at Smosh, he told people he wasn’t a huge fan of physical contact.
So really it seems that you’re just respecting him by giving him his space.
But he wishes you wouldn’t. Partially because it seems nice to get random affection throughout the day. But mostly because he may be secretly harboring a bit of a crush on you.
So he starts dropping hints that he’s not quite as anti touch as he made it seem. On an episode of Smosh Mouth he tells the story about the pranks that were common when he started at Smosh.
“You somehow seemed to avoid those pranks,” Shayne says.
“Because I told everyone I don’t like being touched,” Damien replies. “Which isn’t totally true but kept me from getting ice cream down my pants.”
They both laugh at this, remembering the ridiculous shenanigans of older era Smosh.
“I thought that was interesting,” Shayne says. “Because I remember back during the So Random days you never said anything about having a problem with like, hugs and things like that from friends.”
“Yea it was really just to protect myself from the craziness here. I’m good with hugs and high fives and stuff, especially from friends,” Damien explaineds.
“What about lil kisses?” Amanda asks with a smirk.
“Oh, big fan,” Damien says. “Gettin a lil kiss on the forehead? Sign me up!”
“Really?” Shayne says. “I did not know that.”
“Absolutely, can’t beat a forehead kiss.”
You’re glad that you’re listening to this episode while alone in your car, because your blush at this conversation would be very telling if anyone were to see.
Well damn. There goes your excuse to keep away from Damien. More than that, you now want to give him a kiss just to see how he’d react. Would he give you that big smile that you love? Would he grow pink and bashful? You need to know.
But you can’t. Because you don’t trust yourself to not give away your secret. You have to keep your distance and if anyone asks, you’ll just say it’s force of habit. Yea, that’s a good plan.
And the plan continues to work.
Until the day you slip up.
It’s a Games shoot, and Damien, Courtney, and Shayne are all squished on a couch to play some classic Mario. You smile watching Courtney and Shayne banter. It’s always fun to watch them, especially now that their secret is out and they feel more free to interact however they want to.
You find yourself daydreaming about how it would be if you told Damien about your crush and he reciprocated and the two of you fell in love and lived happily ever after.
The shoot starts and shakes you out of these thoughts. Time to focus on work. You’re there to help out with tech as needed, but also because you’re a pro at all things Mario. Since you’ve appeared in a few videos, you’ve gained a bit of a following. So the idea today is that you can make a cameo to help the three if they get stuck at any point.
It happens about half way through. After nearly a dozen attempts, they can’t get past a certain level. You’re called in, and you walk on the stage before leaning over the back of the couch. You’re between Damien and Courtney, and you try not to act like the schoolgirl with a crush that you are when his hands brush yours as he passes you the controller.
It takes you three attempts to pass, and you banter with the others while you play. Everyone cheers when you finally succeed, and Damien says, “And this is why Y/N is the queen of Mario here at Smosh.”
You laugh at that and turn to press a kiss to Damien’s head. Realizing what you’ve just done, you do your best to keep cool. You ruffle both his and Courtney’s hair as you pull away from the couch. The fans are aware of your tactile nature with your friends. Hopefully they’ll think this is just that, you being friendly.
When you make it off stage again you look back and catch Damien’s reaction. He’s definitely blushing, and when he catches your eyes he gives you a smile. It’s small, soft and shy. You smile in return but quickly look down before he can see how smitten you are.
For the remainder of the shoot you can’t help but sneak glances at Damien, surprised and flustered every time you see him looking right back at you. When they finish filming you see Damien walking over, and you quickly think of a question to ask Alex. Anything to avoid having what’s likely going to be a very awkward conversation.
Unfortunately, it’s the end of the day, and Damien doesn’t have anything else he needs to get to and therefore has plenty of time to wait for you to finish your conversation.
“Hey, you got a sec?” he asks as you turn to him.
“Yea, of course, what’s up?” you reply. Maybe this isn’t about the kiss. Maybe this isn’t about the looks you were giving him. Maybe you aren’t about to die from embarrassment.
“I was hoping we could talk for a moment. Just us?”
“Sure!” you reply as your heart rate increases. The two of you walk out of the room together but not before you see the cheeky and hopeful looks from Courntey and Shayne.
Damien leads you to a small meeting room that’s not in use, closing the door behind you to ensure privacy.
You brace yourself for a potential rejection, so you’re more than surprised when Damien blurts out, “I like you.”
When you don’t reply right away he continues, saying, “Sorry, I wasn’t planning on saying it like that. But I do. Like you. Have for a while. And I figured you probably saw the way that kiss earlier made me melt so I felt like I should come clean and tell you.”
There’s another silent moment before your brain finally catches up. Damien’s shy smile has started to fall when you say, “I like you too!”
The smile comes back, as does the flush on his cheeks and he says, “Really? I hoped, but never really thought you did because you always avoided me when you were so tactile with our friends-”
You cut him off to explain, “I avoided you because I liked you. I thought that if I was the same way with you I’d open up this whole can of worms about feelings and crushes and thought it was safer to just, you know, keep that all bottled in.”
“I guess that’s smart. Because the second you came near me I knew I was not keeping my secret anymore.”
“I’m glad you didn’t,” you say, so happy this is finally happening, and it’s going better than you ever could have imagined.
“Do you wanna, uhm, maybe go get dinner?” he asks.
“I’d like that,” you reply.
“So it’s a date?”
“It’s a date,” you confirm.
The two of you leave work and meet up at a restaurant nearby. You have a wonderful time together, chatting about work and life and divulging how far back your crushes on eachother go.
When it’s time to say goodnight you lean in for a hug. He holds you tight for a moment, and this embrace feels different than the ones you share daily with your friends. There’s more feeling, more promise behind it. He’s leaning down just a bit, allowing you to press another kiss to his forehead as you pull away from the hug. He does the same for you, and the two of you stand there smiling, your insides warm and fluttery, full of hope for what’s to come.

Happy New Year (Alex Blake x f!Reader)
Tumblr media
Synopsis: It's new years. Who will you kiss at midnight?
Words: 1k
Warnings: none
Garcia’s apartment was packed with bodies. You hadn’t been expecting it, assuming it was going to be a get together for the team. Instead, there were people you’d never seen before milling about, asking you what you did and if you were there with anyone. You clutched your glass of punch as if it was your lifeline.
“Yeah, uh, it’s great,” you said to the man who had come up to talk to you.
“So are you good at like martial arts stuff?” he asked, eyes sweeping down your body, “could you put me in a headlock?”
“I could. I don’t know why I would though,” you replied before downing your cup of punch, “I have to go get a refill.”
“Let me,” he said, taking the cup from your hands.
You gave him a forced smile before disappearing back into the crowd the moment his back was turned. Ducking between a small gap your shoulder bashed into someone’s spine. They stumbled forward. You caught them around the elbow, keeping them from falling.
“Oh, hi Alex,” you said.
She smiled at you as you took your hand back from her arm, turning to look at you properly. Your mouth became dry at her smile, the way it always did but you didn’t want her to ever stop. You could hear your heart thumping in your ear, very out of time with the music Penelope had playing.
“I didn’t realise you were here already or I would have come found you,” she said.
“I saw Morgan earlier but uh… I think he’s preoccupied,” you said, seeing him wrapped in the arms of a beautiful woman, “I didn’t see you though.”
“Did you know Garcia knew this many people?” she asked, taking a half step towards you, blocking out the rest of the party.
“I’m not surprised,” you replied, “she talks to everyone. Even that guy who sells the coffee on the third floor that always burns the milk.”
“I wonder if she thinks they’re nice,” she mused.
“You’re never letting that go, are you?”
“Nope.” She grinned at you.
You laughed, her chuckle joining in. You felt your cheeks heat as her hand landed on your arm. Someone shoved into your back, sending you stumbling forward this time. She caught you, arms landing around your waist. You looked up, finding her face very close to yours, close enough that if you lent forward just a little you’d be kissing. Her smile softened as she looked down at you.
“Careful or I’ll think you’re falling for me,” she said, that familiar teasing note in her voice coming through too strong.
Your laughter was too high pitched, you knew, but you couldn’t stop it as you disentangled yourself from her grip. Looking away you caught sight of the tv screen, the crowds in Times Square cheering.
“You know, I’ve never kissed anyone at midnight on New Years,” you said, staring at the tv and the people waiting for the ball drop. Then your brain caught up with what your mouth had been saying and your cheeks heated up again.
“Never?” she asked, eyebrows raising.
“Oh god you think I’m really uncool now, don’t you?” You pressed a hand to your eyes.
“Hey, no,” she said, pulling your hand away, threading your fingers through hers, “I already thought you were really uncool.”
“Shut up.” You shoved at her shoulder.
She tugged on your joined hands, pulling you closer to her. Your breath caught, finding her so close you could feel her breath ghosting over your cheek. She was doing it on purpose, messing with your head. She had to be.
“I’m not sure I believe you’ve never had a New Years kiss,” she said, voice lowering.
“Are you calling me a liar?” you asked.
“I just don’t know if I can believe someone as beautiful as you doesn’t have people tripping over themselves to kiss you.”
The way she was smouldering at you ruined any chance of you thinking a single thought beyond how desperate you were for her. She tilted your chin up with her forefinger, eyes sweeping down your body then back up. You gave a weak laugh that cut off when her eyes darkened.
“How about I kiss you if you can’t find anyone better,” she suggested.
“I’m not going to find anyone better,” you murmured.
“You don’t know that.” Her lips were curling up into that smile you’d grown to love.
“I do,” you insisted.
“How can you possibly know that?” she asked.
“Because there’s no one better than you,” you breathed out.
She paused a moment, looking down at you before her smile settled more firmly in place. Her eyes zeroed in on your lips. You shivered, no innocent thoughts in sight.
“Oh baby girl,” she murmured, drawing impossibly closer, “you’re coming home with me.”
You felt breathless, the implication turning your knees to jelly. Her thumb ran along your lower lip, gently tugging on it until your teeth released it.
“10!”
You jumped, having forgotten anyone else was in the room with the two of you. You looked around, the countdown continuing. A warm hand cupped your cheek, turning you back towards her.
“So what’s it going to be, baby girl?” she asked.
You surged forward as the cheering began, pressing your lips to hers. Her hand slid into the hair at the nape of your neck, tangling in it until you felt it pull. Her tongue ran along your lower lip, begging for entrance. You sighed into her mouth as you opened up to her, melting against her. Her arm curled around your waist, pulling you against her body. Every sinful curve pressed against yours.
You whimpered as she began to draw back only to feel her press a kiss to the corner of your lips. She pressed another kiss to your lips, lingering for a moment, giving you hope she’d continue making you breathless.
“How about we go celebrate the new year somewhere more private?” she murmured against your lips.
“God, yes, please,” you moaned.
She tangled her fingers with yours again, pulling you out of Garcia’s apartment. She shot a heated look at you over her shoulder, full of promises you were going to make sure she kept.

Roardin
Find my CoD Masterlist
Title is the song “Roardin” by Marcela Bovio. Highly recommend listening to it before/during/after reading.
This idea started as musing on this headcanon from the amazing mind of @soapskneebrace and she gave me permission to run with it. And then, uh. This happened. I... have no idea how. This one got away from me. There was an entire subplot that I cut. Gaz wasn’t even supposed to be here BUT HE IS. Look idk I’m just gonna yeet this and run.
Soap x plus size f!reader
You’ve loved Johnny for a long time, but you’re convinced the feeling is not reciprocated. So you keep it to yourself and, well, at least he’s still your friend.
Warnings: Swearing, some very unhealthy mental state on reader’s part, they’re both idiots, idiots to lovers.
Word count: 7.5k
Tumblr media
The first time you met Johnny was at a party. Your friend Emily had promised you it would be a lowkey thing.
So of course there were twenty people.
You ended up sitting on a chair, watching Emily flirt with one of the others. You were trying not to be bitter, but it was hard when you felt so alone. You didn’t know anyone but Emily, and you weren’t great in big social situations like this. So you sat and watched people, holding a cup of beer that was slowly growing warm in the balmy night.
Someone dropped down into the chair next to you, and you blinked at him. He was handsome, dark hair kept short, blue eyes bright.
“Doin’ alright?” he asked, smile kind, gaze focused on you.
You were so startled you blinked at him, owlish. And then you nodded. “Yeah, just, uh.” You shrugged, ducking your head a little. “More people than I anticipated.”
He nodded, leaning back in his seat. “Aye,” he murmured. “Me too.”
"Who are you here with?" You glanced at him, cautiously optimistic. So far he was nice.
"Eric, the blonde over there." He nodded in the correct direction. "You?"
"Emily." You looked around for her.
And, as if summoned by her name, she appeared at your shoulder. "I don't think we've met," she said, flirty smile in place, holding out a hand to your conversation partner.
"John." He shook her hand and then looked at you. But you were too slow to respond, too startled - Emily had already moved in, smile bright as she started talking to him.
And you leaned back in your chair, feeling frumpy and boring in comparison. You weren't good at this sort of thing. You weren't the most personable person, you couldn't stop and talk with anyone. You didn't have the same kind of social battery that Emily did.
So you mentally wrote the night off as a loss and contented yourself with being on the outskirts of this conversation. Which was becoming more flirting by the moment.
Yeah. You were definitely sidelined, especially when you noticed Emily shifting closer to him, tossing her hair back behind her shoulder, eyes bright and confident.
Maybe you'd get lucky and she'd drop you off at home before she went home with him, or something.
After half an hour of listening to them flirt, you'd had enough. You stood, touching the back of Emily's shoulder with two fingers to get her to pay attention.
"I'm gonna get a ride home," you said, gaze flitting to John and then down to the floor. "It was nice to meet you."
If he responded, you didn't hear it, already heading for the door.
You wouldn't be missed.
You would have liked to talk to John a bit more before Emily stole him away, but you knew you didn't hold a candle to her. In so many ways.
You were used to playing second fiddle to her.
You honestly never expected to see John again. Not unless Emily nabbed him as more than just a bed partner for the night, but you weren't sure that would happen.
So when someone sat across from you at the coffee shop, you felt yourself stiffen and prepare to make an excuse to leave.
Until your gaze met brilliant blue again.
"Oh," you murmured, blinking at him. "Hi."
"Hi." His smile was warm but still soft, and a little bashful. "Hope ye don't mind, spotted you as I got m' drink."
"Not at all." You smiled, a little thrill zinging down your spine. He'd actually chosen to sit with you! "Just unexpected, that's all. How are you?"
"Oh, dandy. Enjoying my time off while it lasts." He winked, leaving you little doubt as to how he was enjoying. "You?"
You shrugged. "Wishing I knew more languages to cuss out this paper," you said, light and cheerful.
“School?” he asked, leaning a little closer.
“Mmhm.” You sighed at your laptop. “It’s annoying.”
He chuckled. “Anything I can help with?”
“That depends,” you said slowly, blinking at him. “Know anything about Paradise Lost?”
“Not really. Had to read a bit of it, but not much.” He looked sheepish now.
“Don’t worry about it.” You shut your laptop. “I’ll figure it out later. I’m an expert procrastinator at this point.”
He snorted and then grinned at you. “Oh, aye? Not one to get things done early?”
“I try, and then things happen, and then I end up doing them last minute.” It was your turn to look sheepish now, shoulders hunching a little.
He laughed, playing with his coffee. “Well, you get it all done.”
“I do.” You relaxed a little at the lack of judgment. “Are you studying?”
He shook his head a little. “Military.”
“Ah.” You blinked. It made sense, looking at him. “What do you think of it so far?”
He made a complicated expression. “I’m glad I joined,” he said, firm and sure. “There are… ups and downs. Like any job.” His lips twisted.
“Understandable,” you agreed, leaning back in your seat. “You’re on leave, then? How much longer do you have?”
“A few more days.” He shrugged, watching you from under his lashes.
“I hope you get to enjoy.” Your smile was small but genuine. Your phone buzzed on the table, and you looked down to check it, making a face. “Dammit. I’m sorry, I have to go, apparently my apartment is flooding?”
He blinked at you but nodded. “Good luck,” he said, watching you shove your laptop into your backpack.
You murmured your thanks to him and took off. Well. There went your mood. And also some good company.
You didn’t let yourself really register the disappointment, though, pushing past it and shoving it down to think about never.
Surely, that would be it. He only had a few days of leave left, he’d said so himself. There was no way you were going to see him again.
You saw him again.
Normally you didn’t really go out, preferring to stay in the quiet solace of your room. But your room was temporarily off limits while repairs happened from the flooding, and you were all off-kilter, so you decided to go out at the invitation of a classmate to a local pub.
Dinner, you said. And one drink. Your classmate (a really nice girl named Claire) agreed eagerly. (Which surprised you - you were too much of a wet blanket for people to get excited about going anywhere with you.)
The two of you sat at the pub and chatted. It was nice. It was easy. You had some musical tastes in common, which helped.
You both settled your bills and then she waved at someone. “A couple friends of mine are here, do you want to come meet them?” she asked, happy and eager.
You turned to look, and blinked when those same blue eyes met yours across the room. What were the odds? You recognized the blonde next to him - Eric. From the party.
What a small world.
“Sure,” you agreed shyly, ducking your head briefly. But you gamely followed Claire over to the table, introducing yourself and settling into your seat, shoulders hunched to try to take up less room.
For a little while, you just sat and listened to the others, content to fade into the background. But slowly, John nudged you into adding your opinion. It was odd, but in a nice way. You didn’t mind.
And when you finally checked your phone and realized the time, you made your excuses. You had to get up in the morning.
“Do you want me to drive you back?” Claire asked, a little concerned.
“Nah, it’s not that far to campus.” You smiled. “I’ll see you on Tuesday, yeah?”
“Of course!” She beamed at you.
To your surprise, though, John stood when you did. “I’ll walk you back,” he murmured. “And I’ve got a plane to catch in the morning.”
“Right.” You grabbed your things and waved once more to the table before you headed out, John a few respectful steps behind you. The air was chilly as you stepped out of the pub, and you paused a moment to adjust. “I’m okay to walk back on my own if you’d rather just grab a ride,” you offered, looking at John.
He chuckled, shaking his head. “I offered,” he pointed out. “How’s the, uh, Milton thing coming?”
“Oh, I’m still procrastinating,” you admitted, ducking your head as you started walking. “My current plan is to bang it out on Saturday.”
He tipped his head back to laugh, beautiful and bright. “Aye, that’s a plan,” he agreed, fingers just touching your elbow as you crossed a street.
You took a deep breath, nerves fluttering in your stomach. “You know… If you ever got bored… you could text me sometime.” The offer came out smaller than you intended, and you winced at yourself. No wonder nobody bothered with you.
“Sure,” he agreed, so quickly you lifted your head to blink at him. He was already pulling out his phone. “What’s your number?”
You rattled it off, and moments later your phone buzzed in your pocket with a new text.
“Ah’m not always the best at texting,” he said, a hint of nerves entering his voice. “But, uh.”
“It’s fine,” you assured him. “Like I said, if you’re bored or want to chat or whatever. I get it.”
His smile relaxed at that and he nodded.
“Well, this is me.” You stopped outside the residential area, turning to look at him. “Thanks for walking me back.”
“My pleasure.” He shifted a little closer to you, eyes bright.
For a moment, you two simply stood and looked at each other, the air thick between the two of you. Then a door slammed and loud laughter echoed from an open window.
“Have a good flight, and stay safe, okay?” You smiled at him, one hand reaching out and then retracting.
But he held out his arms and lifted one eyebrow in silent question. You smiled and stepped into him, hugging him. And oh, he was warm and he was a good hugger.
You stepped back before things edged into longer than socially acceptable, and his hands slid from your back.
“I’ll text you,” he promised. “Good luck with your paper.”
You nodded and let him go, waving briefly before you turned to head to your building.
Honestly, you half-expected him to fall through. It was easy to not expect much of people, a well-developed defense mechanism.
It was hard to be disappointed when you didn’t expect anything.
So when he texted you the next day to say he was back on base, you were pleasantly surprised.
And he didn’t stop texting, either. Sometimes he wouldn’t for days or weeks, but he always got back to you when he could, hours long conversations making up for the necessary silences.
You didn’t see him in person though for months. When he finally had leave again, he was busy - going out with friends, hiking, playing football.
You even managed to see him a few times. Out at a bar one night, Emily once again dragging you out. He talked you into going hiking with him and a few of his buddies. (That one you regretted a little, feeling self-conscious around them.)
But you began to notice more about him.
John had a lot of friends, and he seemed to be pretty casual with most of them. Friendly bumps or hugs were normal for him. Despite how often he went out, he never arrived to events with a date, always on his own.
But he often left with someone on his arm. Often a girl - one time a guy. (Thinking very briefly about that had left you warm and flustered for the rest of the night.) Emily went home with him a second time, and she gushed to you about him the next day.
But there was no expectation of more. Just sex.
You had no idea how they did it, but, more power to them. As long as everybody was happy with that arrangement, you weren’t going to rain on their parade.
Months turned into years, and you watched as some of his friends drifted away due to time and distance and whatever else. Most of your friends were transitory, in and out of your life. You watched as he changed his hair, growing out a single stripe for a mohawk. You watched as his confidence settled into something proven without being boastful. You watched as he hid demons and nightmares behind smiles, as his job took him around the globe. (Which you only knew because he’d text you sometimes about the views or the weather. Never anything identifying, but you hoarded those dregs of information anyway.)
You always sent him a birthday text, even if he didn’t respond to it for days. He often missed yours, which you brushed off. But he didn’t miss holidays, either showing up a few days beforehand (he always spent the actual day with his family) or sending you gifts.
Your friendship had settled into something deeper, something that lasted. Something that withstood the time apart and the silences and the rigors of his job.
You, however, stubbornly ignored that your feelings ran deeper. That you cared for him, too much. More than you should. More than he cared for you, certainly. But you held your silence and ignored the longing and did your best to simply be there and be the best friend you could be.
Which, really, was easy in some ways. The two of you just got on, had from the very start. Arguments were rare between the two of you, and you were always able to pick right back up where you left off around his absences.
It wasn’t exactly the most comfortable pattern, but it was a pattern, one you were content to hold. It was enough to be in his orbit, to circle around him. It was enough.
So seeing a text from him made you smile, even in the slurry slushy rain-sleet of December.
Gonna be home for three weeks. You got time?
You read the message twice. Three weeks was longer than normal, even with the holidays around the corner. Maybe he needed some extra time to recover from something? But you could find out, you didn’t need to push now.
For you? Always.
Well. That had probably been too honest. But it had been months since you’d seen him, and he was often silent on top secret missions. So, yeah, too honest but undeniable.
Should be back in two days. See you soon.
You hummed and put it out of your mind for now.
But if you ended up cleaning your apartment… well. That was just in case, really. And it needed to be done. So there.
(Even in the privacy of your own mind, you weren’t fooling anybody.)
Two days later, your phone started buzzing with an incoming call, and you picked up with a grin.
“Not dead yet?” you teased gently in what had become nearly a routine for the two of you.
He chuckled, the sound soothing the ball of anxiety that sat in your chest every time he went silent. “Not yet,” he agreed. “How are ye, sweets?”
“Oh, the usual.” You smiled a little. “You?”
“Mandatory leave,” he answered on a sigh. “Got some company, though. One o’ my mates is here for a week ‘fore going home to his family.”
“Sounds like fun,” you agreed, glancing at your calendar. “Work is still the same for me - any time after 5:30 or so I’m open, or weekends.”
“No plans?” Johnny asked as gently as he could.
You huffed. “No. No plans.”
The words sat between you, heavy and thick, for three heartbeats. Then Johnny clicked his tongue.
“Won’t do,” he said with cheer that felt a little forced to you. “I’ll fix ye right up!”
You laughed softly. “Just whatever you have time for,” you assured him. “I’m fine.”
“Ye’re home alone with reruns on doin’ nothin’ exciting,” Johnny predicted, and damn it all, he knew you too well.
“That’s neither here nor there.” Your gaze skittered down to the floor.
“Then come out with Gaz and I. Tomorrow. We can meet at our pub.”
Your lips twitched entirely against your will. “What time?”
“After work.”
You huffed a little laugh. “Alright,” you agreed. “I’ll meet you there tomorrow.”
“Excellent.” The grin was clear in his voice. “See ye soon, sweets.”
“See you soon,” you agreed, reluctant to hang up but knowing you had to go. Well. More like you had to let him go. But you made yourself hang up.
Now you just had to get through work and you’d be able to see arguably your favorite person on the planet. And one of his friends. Who also worked with him.
No big deal.
You still showed up at the pub after work, looking around for Johnny.
All you saw was a bright grin and that mohawk before arms grabbed you in a tight hug, absolutely uncaring of the rest of the pub. You squeaked as Johnny picked you up for a quick twirl, something you protested feebly. You were not some teeny dainty thing, you didn’t want him hurting himself.
“There’s my sweets!” he crowed, finally setting you down. “Come meet Gaz.” Keeping hold of your hand, he led you over to a table in the back, where a dark-skinned man was already sitting waiting. “Gaz, this is my sweets.”
You rolled your eyes and gave Gaz your actual name, holding out your hand for him to shake. “It’s wonderful to meet you.”
“You too.” He smiled at you, easy and warm. “This idiot doesn’t shut up about you.”
“Oh really?” You turned to Johnny with a teasing smile.
Johnny shrugged, shameless. “Hard not to when ye send me packages,” he said, ushering you into a seat and finally releasing your hand. “I’ll grab this round, aye?” And he was gone before you could protest.
You huffed a little laugh, shaking your head. “I hope he actually shares and doesn’t just dangle the packages in front of you,” you said, grinning.
“Sometimes,” Gaz said with an easy shrug. “Sometimes he just hoards things.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “Sounds like him,” you agreed, fondness bleeding into your tone, even as you turned a little to look for him. He was easy to spot, leaning up against the bar, probably flirting with the admittedly very pretty bartender (who looked mostly amused). The sight didn’t even hurt (much) - you were just happy to see him.
“How long have you known him?” Gaz sounded curious, and you snapped your gaze back to him.
“Oh, years now.” You smiled. “Met him when I was in college and got dragged out to a party.”
He chuckled. “Haven’t gotten rid of him since?” he teased, though the way he looked at you was sharp, assessing.
“Why in the world would I do that?” You shook your head, amused. “He’s a good friend. One of the best.”
Gaz nodded slowly but didn’t have a chance to say more before Johnny was back, putting down drinks in front of you.
“Here ye are,” he said with a grin and a dramatic wave of his hand. “Take yer pick, sweets.”
“What am I, chopped liver?” Gaz grumbled good-naturedly, making you laugh even as you picked your drink.
“Something like that,” you agreed, grinning. “So, what was your favorite thing this time?” You took a sip of your drink, watching Johnny go off about some cafe he’d found on assignment in some other country, and how much it had annoyed someone he called “LT” when he stopped there for every meal one day.
From there, the rest of the night was easy. You didn’t drink much, aware you still had to work the next day, but you relaxed. Gaz was funny and nice and interesting, much like Johnny. You ended up giving him your number at the end of the night and promising to send him packages too, so Johnny wouldn’t be the only one having fun.
Johnny’s overly dramatic clasping of his heart sent you into peals of laughter again.
And when you needed to go, both men stood to see you out, offering to walk you home, which you gently turned down.
“You gonna come tomorrow?” Johnny asked hopefully. “Arranging a football match.”
“If you want me there, I’ll be there,” you agreed. “Just text me where and when.”
“Copy that.” He smiled, warm and beautiful under the street lights, everything you wanted and couldn’t have.
“See you tomorrow, Johnny.” But you couldn’t resist darting in for one more hug, just one. Just to get a whiff of him to take home with you. He barely had time to respond before you were pulling back, bright smile in place as you took off for home.
You couldn’t let yourself linger or you’d do something damn foolish.
To your surprise, Gaz checked in to ask if you got home safe. He really was sweet. You reassured both him and Johnny that all was well before you went to bed.
You had plenty of time to get to the football game after work, since most of the players also had to work. You’d brought an extra sweater, in case you stayed out later than you meant to and got cold, and found a place to sit and wait.
“Sweets!” Johnny jogged up to you, beaming, Gaz not far behind. “Been waitin’ long?”
“Just a few minutes.” You smiled up at him. “Did you two keep out of mischief today?”
“Sweets, I am hurt! Destroyed! Me, mischief?” Johnny pressed a hand to his chest, staggering back two steps with an exaggerated look of hurt.
“She knows you too well,” Gaz drawled, and ducked the swat aimed at his head.
“I take that as a no,” you said, laughing, watching the two tussle. “Save some of that energy for the match, I need some excitement today.”
“Bad day?” Johnny paused, one arm still wrapped loosely around Gaz’s neck, focus shifting to you so fast you were surprised he didn’t hurt himself.
“Just long.” Your smile felt brittle, small, and you tried to force it to be better. To be a better shield. “It’s fine, I’ve been looking forward to watching all day.”
“You don’t play?” Gaz asked, and you could have hugged him for keeping Johnny from fussing.
“Oh, no. I’ll kick a ball around, but I can’t keep up with an actual game.” You shrugged easily, gaze falling to the grass. “I’m just here for moral support when Johnny loses.”
Johnny puffed up, successfully distracted. “That was once! One time!”
Other people started showing up, and Johnny was quick to introduce Gaz around. You stayed where you were, waving to some people you knew, content to be on the edges of things.
And of course Emily was there, with a few other women, all standing in a group chatting on the edges of the unofficial field. You hunched into yourself, gaze skittering away from her.
You shouldn’t have come. But it was too late now.
You kept your gaze on Johnny instead. It wasn’t hard. He was so vibrant, laughing and cursing and jostling the others. It was never a hardship to watch him.
The game broke up eventually, and you weren’t sure which team had won. Or even if there had been real teams. But they all seemed happy, trooping together to the side with the women to talk about dinner plans.
You did not miss the way Emily curled a hand around Johnny’s arm, leaned in close to him, flashed a pretty smile at him. You swallowed and looked away when he nodded, barely having to dip his head to get closer to her.
You didn’t need to watch. You already knew where this was going.
Thanking all your lucky stars that you’re quiet and invisible when you want to be, you gathered up your things. It was time to go.
“Leaving already?”
You nearly jumped out of your skin at Gaz’s question, hand flying to your chest. “I didn’t hear you come up,” you said, a weak defense for the way your heart thundered in your chest.
“Sorry. Habit.” His lips twisted as he gave you a quick once-over. “Seriously, though, you out? They’re talking about getting food.”
“Some of them are.” You smiled up at him, holding your extra sweater tight to your stomach. “It’s okay, I’ve got food at home.”
He looked over at the group, his brow furrowing a little. You didn’t need to, but you followed his gaze anyway to see Emily and Johnny stepping away from the group.
Just as you knew would happen.
Gaz’s jaw clenched and then he looked back at you with something far too close to pity in his eyes. “Come have dinner with me. My treat, yeah? We can have a nice quiet time of it, if you like.”
You opened your mouth to refuse him… but nodded. He didn’t really know anyone else here, and Johnny had kind of abandoned him too. “Yeah. Okay. I know a nice place, if you like Italian?”
“Sounds good to me.” He held out his arm in a gallant move, which at least got you to smile.
The two of you were quiet as you walked, you steering, him simply keeping pace.
“So,” he finally started, quiet, gentle, “how long have you been in love with that idiot, then?”
You debated lying to him. He couldn’t know that for certain. He was taking a shot in the dark, testing his accuracy. But you knew as soon as you glanced at those brown eyes that there would be no lying. No getting out of this. So you deflated, eyes closing briefly, even as you pulled your shoulders in, sinking into yourself. “I’m not sure. A few years?”
“You haven’t said anything?” He rested his free hand over yours, squeezing gently. Offering silent support.
“No.” You shook your head, almost desperately. “No, and I’m not going to.”
He stopped, pulling you to a stop with him. “Why not?” He looked genuinely bewildered.
You stared at him. “You’re joking, right?” You pulled your hand away, crossing your arms tight over your chest. “I mean, look at me. It’s obvious.”
He continued to look confused, gaze darting over you. “Explain it to me.”
You shook your head, taking a step back. “Maybe I should just go.”
“Whoa, hey, no.” He held up his hands, frowning a little. “I’m sorry, that was too much. We don’t have to talk about it.”
You breathed in slowly, letting the cold air burn down your throat and in your lungs, holding it for just long enough to begin to feel the sting before you let it out in a whoosh. But his pleading eyes got to you, and you sighed. “Alright, yeah. Okay.”
“Thank you.” He stepped closer again and offered his arm again, looking hopeful. You tucked your hand in his arm again and finished leading him to the restaurant. But the silence between you now was tense, stifled.
“This is it.” You nodded at the restaurant just up ahead, gaze immediately dropping to the ground again.
The two of you got seated at a table in the back, because the owner knew you, and sat for a few moments, your shoulders winding tighter with each passing heartbeat.
“Hey.” Gaz ducked his head a little, trying to catch your gaze. “I’m sorry. I won’t push. Alright?”
You nodded, chewing on your lip for a moment. “Okay.”
“Tell me about your job?” He tipped his head a little. “Or a hobby.”
“Well, I suppose that’s fair, since I know probably too much about your job.” Your lips twitched in almost humor but you drew in a deep breath to start talking.
It didn’t take long for the space between you to ease again, and dinner was more relaxed. The two of you carefully danced around the subject of Johnny and your feelings, but Gaz had plenty of amusing work stories that he could share with you. (And some pictures. Your favorite was the one of their captain slumped in his chair at his desk fast asleep. You wanted to drape a blanket over him and leave him cookies. When you told Gaz as much, Gaz looked surprised and then undeniably fond.)
Gaz paid, ignoring your arguments, and then offered to walk you home.
“I hope he at least left you a key.” It was the first time you’d directly brought up Johnny since before you’d arrived at the restaurant.
“Yeah, I’m set.” Gaz shook his head a little. “Don’t worry about me.”
You huffed. “You don’t know me well, so I’ll give you a pass on that this time,” you grumbled. “I am physically incapable of not worrying about my friends.”
He ducked his head, smiling, and then shook his head. “You must worry a lot, then.”
“Fair bit, yeah.” You shrugged. “It’s okay.”
“I know I said I’d leave this alone…”
Your heart dropped. Well, you’d known that was too good to last. “What do you want to know?”
“How often has he done that?”
“What, go home with someone?” You shrugged. “It’s not like I’ve kept track.”
“How often does he do it when you’re out with him?” Gaz looked down at you, concerned.
“Not all the time. And he knows Emily, they’ve, um, hooked up before.” You looked away, shrugging, fighting down your discomfort.
Gaz blew out a breath, muttering something you couldn’t understand. “If you ever want to talk,” he offered slowly, carefully, “I’m here. Yeah?”
You stopped, then, frowning at him. “Why?”
“Because you’re sweet, and you deserve to have someone support you.” Gaz shrugged. “Since that idiot is too blind to see what’s right in front of him, I’ll do what I can.”
You held his gaze, frowning just a little, looking for any signs of teasing or deceit. But you found none. So you nodded slowly. “Okay. Thank you.”
He just nodded, smiling a little, and walked you the rest of the way to your apartment building in silence. “Have a good night.”
“You too.” You took one last look at him and then went inside.
Life would be so much less complicated if you could just… fall out of love with Johnny. You’d probably even be happier for it.
But you couldn’t. It was out of your hands - your heart had decided and didn’t seem to be budging any time soon.
With a low groan, you gave up and flopped face-first into bed. Maybe you’d manage to smother yourself. Then you wouldn’t have to deal with all of this.
Johnny texted you over the next couple days, but didn’t invite you anywhere. You knew one day he dragged Gaz off on a full day hiking adventure - you advised Gaz to bring chemical heat packs, because Johnny always forgot.
But this was a good thing. A little space to get your head on straight again, to shove that longing back in its box where it belonged. Where you could absolutely bury it.
Saturday you didn’t get an invitation. You just got knocking on your door, too bright and early. You stumbled over to the door, bleary-eyed, and yanked the door open to yell at whatever fool dared disturb you this early.
Only to be met head-on with Johnny’s puppy dog pout.
You glowered for a solid four seconds before you sighed and left the door open, going to the kitchen instead. You needed caffeine.
“I brought you some,” Johnny bribed, following you in. “Here.” He held out a to-go cup. You could tell from the smell it was just the way you liked.
“What do you want, Johnny?” You took your cup, curling around it, not quite awake enough to be embarrassed about your state of dress.
“It’s Gaz’s last day here,” he said, looking hopeful. “Was hopin’ you’d spend it with us.”
“You have plans?” you asked on a sigh. You already knew you’d say yes.
“Nah, figured we’d figure it out as we went.”
“Fine. Let me get dressed.” You took your cup with you into your room, shutting the door pointedly.
This was going to be an absolute disaster, you could tell. But you were going to see it through anyway. Because you were a damned fool.
Johnny was quick to grin when you rejoined him, pulling you along in his orbit as he led. His mood was contagious, and always had been. Before long, you were no longer grumpy, smiling along and letting the other two lead.
The day really wasn't a total disaster. Actually you had a lot of fun. You went on an easy hike, tried a new place for lunch, explored an art museum, and had finally stopped back at your pub for dinner and a few drinks.
Gaz excused himself for a minute and Johnny leaned into your space, comfortable and easy.
"Y'know, he might fancy you," he murmured with a conspiratorial wink. "If ye wanted to…" He wiggled his eyebrows, playful and suggestive.
But you just stared at him, blank at first, but with growing pain. "He doesn't fancy me."
Johnny snorted. "Think I know him a bit better’n you do, sweets."
You shook your head, disbelieving. He could not possibly be this blind. "He doesn't fancy me, Johnny. I know. We had a conversation."
"You–what? When?" He leaned forward, eyes bright, clearly expecting gossip.
You scoffed a laugh, looking up at the ceiling. "After the football game, when you left with Emily."
He looked away briefly, jaw clenching. "Oh."
"Yes, oh." You shook your head, looking at your half-finished drink and knowing you weren't going to finish it. "He and I talked a lot that night. He's nice. He's a good friend. But we both know he and I won't go anywhere."
"Oh? Ye ken, do ye?" He leaned in, a challenge in his eyes. "How do ye ken?"
"Because I love you, you absolute dafty."
The words escaped entirely without permission, and your eyes went wide. The world froze. You couldn't breathe. Couldn't think. You just stared at Johnny as his eyes went wide too, uncomprehending.
You didn't wait for reality to set in. You fled. Someone may have called after you, but you could barely hear through the rushing in your ears, your heart pounding so loud against your ribs that it hurt.
You didn't stop until you were back in your flat, shaky hands locking the door. Which was about when reality set in. You'd told him. You'd told him. And there was no way to laugh it off as a joke now, no way to take it back or stuff it back down.
Somehow, you ended up in the shower, pressed against the wall, gasping breaths humid and heaving.
You weren't sure you'd ever recover from this.
But you forced yourself to move. Because what else was there to do, now? You couldn't go back. You couldn't take it back.
You had to move.
In this case, that meant finishing your shower. Cleaning up your clothes. Putting on your baggiest sweatshirt, the one that made you feel okay because it was simultaneously like being hugged and being hidden, and curling up on the couch. And turning your phone on silent so you could ignore it.
That wouldn't work forever, and you knew it. But it would work for now. You just needed it to work for now.
Sunday was a blur. You barely remembered what you did. You had no idea what you ate, if you even ate. When you did dare to check your phone, you had a dozen missed calls and even more texts.
You ignored the ones from Johnny for now. Just the thought threatened to send you back into a panic spiral.
But Gaz should be safe.
Soap told me. That was definitely a way to do it.
Let us know you're home safe, yeah?
I get it if you don't want to talk. You don't have to.
Flying out today. Text me when you can.
Let one of us know you're safe or he might break down your door.
Please.
You breathed slowly, reading through them again. Nothing about how Johnny felt, how he'd reacted.
You weren't sure if that was a blessing or a curse.
I'm fine. I'm home. I hope you had a safe flight. Sorry I didn't see you off.
You hit send before you could talk yourself out of it, and promptly hid again.
One more day and Johnny would be going to visit his family for the holidays.
You left a full half hour earlier than normal to go to work, anxious and keyed up and unable to sleep.
But you couldn't break your habits, not entirely. You scrolled past all the texts Johnny had left you, too anxious to read most of them, and sent him a quick text.
Have a safe trip, John.
You put your phone away again before the temptation to read through his texts got the better of you at work.
But you couldn't hold off once you got back home.
Most of his texts were check ins, requests to call him or text him, let him know you were okay. A few were apologies.
But one…
Sweets please call me, please. We can talk this out. I'm a damn fool but I swear I'll make it up to you.
And that? Well, that could really go either way, couldn't it?
You buried your face in your pillow and cried. Just a little. For lost things and broken things. For things you couldn't have.
Two more days of work and then you had the rest of the year off. You could make it two more days without breaking down.
Have you talked to Soap yet? Gaz asked via text the next day.
Not yet. You were a little ashamed to admit it. But only a little.
Call him. We had a long talk last night. It will be okay.
You stuffed your phone away again before your hands could start shaking any worse, anxiety and insecurity surging.
You dragged yourself home from work Wednesday and froze.
Johnny was standing outside your flat, shoulders hunched, hair wild like he'd been pulling on it. He spotted you and froze, expression torn between hope and fear.
"Johnny?" You approached slowly, keys in hand. "You're… here?"
"Aye." He scratched the side of his head, shifting his weight. "Talked to my ma. And Gaz. Ma told me to, uh. Fix this."
"Fix?" Your heart went cold at the thought, and you shook your head. "It's hardly your fault, Johnny, you don't have to–"
"Please." He put one hand over yours, light as a feather. Just enough to make you realize your hands were shaking even as you tried to unlock the door.
You'd always been terrible at telling him no. So you swallowed and nodded, pushing open the door for the both of you.
"Can I get you anything?" You glanced at him as you put your things down, kicking off your shoes.
He shook his head, watching as you buzzed around for a minute, putting things away and getting water for the both of you anyway. You couldn't bear the look in his eyes, the quiet grief there.
So you tried to head it off.
"Really, Johnny, you don't have to fix anything. I'm… I'll be okay."
"Were you ever going to tell me?" He watched you now, gaze pinning you in place.
"Not if I could help it." You gulped. "It was… you didn't reciprocate, and I didn't want to ruin our friendship. I didn't want this exact thing to happen."
"What made you think I don't have feelings for you?" He spoke slowly and carefully.
"John." You shook your head. "I've seen the kind of woman you go home with, and they don't… look like me."
He winced. Actually winced. "That's not…" He trailed off, anguished eyes meeting yours, struggle clear on his face.
"It's okay." You even managed to smile. "I know I'm not exactly the standard of beauty, and I'm not anyone's first choice. I understand."
"But ye are!" He jumped to his feet, pacing in front of the couch. "Sweets, I never ask those people over ta mine, ye ken? They ask me."
You blinked. That was… surprising, granted. But it didn't change much. "Okay?"
He sighed, short and sharp, tugging at his mohawk again. "I did flirt with ye."
"What?" You blinked at him, absolutely stupefied.
"In the beginning. Tried flirting. Ye dinnae seem open to it, so ah stopped."
"You… with me?" You were still stuck on that, brain whirring, trying to go back through your memories of your early friendship with him.
"Aye, with ye." He looked sad for some reason you didn't understand.
"When?!" You stared at him, flabbergasted.
He huffed a little laugh. "Plenty." He stared at you, halted several steps away. "Ye didn't ken?"
"I had no idea." You slumped a little.
He snorted, a little wet, and scrubbed his hand through his hair. "Any idiot would be lucky to have ye."
"Any idiot…?" Hope curled around your heart, delicate but growing every moment.
Johnny crossed the room, dropping to his knees in front of you, hands bracketing your thighs. "I would be lucky," he amended, looking up at you earnestly.
"You don't mean that." Tears pricked in your eyes, and you blinked rapidly.
"I do." Slowly, carefully, one hand migrated to your knee. "I really do."
You gasped at the intensity of his gaze, trembling a little. "But I'm…" you trailed off, hands clenched tight in the hem of your shirt.
"Beautiful." He sat up on his knees, leaning in closer. "Warm." His other hand landed on your other knee. "Kind." Both hands squeezed gently. "One o' the sweetest people I ken."
"Johnny…" You stared at him, lips parted, hope and longing and disbelief all swirled up together in your chest.
"Please, sweets." He shifted closer to you, hands rubbing restlessly but never progressing past the tops of your knees. "Lemme show ye, prove to ye I mean it."
"Okay."
You weren't sure who moved first, you or him. But it ended the same: kissing him, one palm against his jaw, the other in his hair, while he pressed as close to you as he could get. You slowly spread your knees and he moaned softly, immediately shuffling into the space presented, still on his knees.
"So sorry, sweets." He kissed you again, one hand lifting to the back of your neck, holding you where he wanted you. "Ah'm an eejit."
"We both are," you whispered, thumb stroking over his cheek tenderly.
"Now, sweets, won't hear a word against ye." He pulled back, grinning when you tried to chase his lips. "Got it?"
"Fine, but please don't stop." You tightened your grip in his hair, trying to pull him back to you.
Another several minutes were lost to kissing that slowly calmed from desperate to just lovely, slower and exploratory and open-mouthed and messy.
"Come home wi' me," Johnny murmured in between placing sweet kisses along your jaw.
"What?" You felt a little fried, like this was the best kind of dream, or like you had short-circuited and needed to reboot.
"Promised Ma ah'd ask."
"She's okay with this?" You felt bashful suddenly, dropping your gaze to your knees.
Johnny laughed softly, nuzzling right at your pulse. "Threatened to kick me out, actually," he said, humor in his voice now. "If ah messed this up."
You hid behind one hand, hot and flustered and trying to hide just how pleased you were.
"Nah, none o' that,'' he clucked, pulling your hand away from your face. "Wanna see ye, sweets."
And how could you say no to those eyes? "I mean…. If you're sure she's okay with it…"
"More than okay," he reassured you, leaning up again to press his forehead to yours.
"Then… okay." Your eyes suddenly widened. "I'll have to pack, and I don't have gifts for your family!"
"Ach, donnae fuss," he grumbled, though he was grinning. Beaming, really. "You are a gift."
"That was awful." But you relaxed again, smiling.
"Mm. Might'a been." His grin turned predatory, short nails scratching lightly against the back of your neck to make you gasp. "Now, how 'bout I show ye what we've both been missing…? Show ye exactly how beautiful ye are."
Doubt flashed, a big blinking light in your brain. But there was nothing in his eyes but sincerity and desire, nothing harmful in the way he looked at you, not a hint of doubt in the way he kissed you.
So you breathed in slowly, wrestling down your inner demons, ignoring their cries and screeches. And you nodded.
"Yes, Johnny."

Jealousy, Jealousy [Inugami Teruomi x Reader]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Inugami Teruomi x GN!Reader Word Count: ~2000 [Ao3 Link]
Summary: Teruomi is all for camaraderie between Shishitouren and Furin; that is, until he notices Furin's pink haired pretty boy seemingly flirting with you…
Warnings: No gendered pronouns or terms used for reader, jealousy, making out, kiryu is a little bit of a flirt, togame and choji are both menaces, written with adult teruomi in mind (idk his age canonically)
Notes: Probably no one else but me is interested in him, but write what you want to see in the world ig. Slightly inspired by reading the page for inugami (japanese dog spirits) where it states that those possessed by inugami develop a personality full of jealousy. He's a sweetie pie tho <3
Tumblr media
Teruomi regrets everything.
Well, not everything of course. But he at least regrets agreeing to this party.
It was supposed to be a way to strengthen bonds between Shishitoren and Furin, something that he was all for, especially if it would mean that Sako could finally hold an actual conversation with Hiragi. (No, he wasn’t nosy, he just wanted the best for his friend, and he was sure the best for Sako was resolving all the unresolved angst and tension the two had after years apart). And to be honest, he was just excited to get to meet Furin people for the first time in the two gangs’ years-long friendship when they weren’t trying to beat the shit out of each other or another gang.
But he isn’t enjoying himself now. Instead, he is sulking in a corner, nursing his drink as he watches the pink haired pretty boy from Furin flirt with you.
Or at least, he assumes he was flirting with you. He sure is close and touchy if he wasn’t flirting, and you were acting suspiciously flustered and bashful. He simultaneously wants to get closer, to hear what exactly that boy is telling you, but he also knows that if he does hear flirting, he’s going to explode (and maybe start a fight that will be very detrimental to Furin/Shishitoren relations).
Teruomi is so focused on you he doesn’t even notice Shishitoren’s second in command creep up behind him.
“What’s got you in such a funk, Inu-kun?” Togame drawled. “Thought you enjoyed social things.”
There’s a pause as he follows where Teruomi’s gaze leads. “Ah.”
Teruomi opens his mouth to ask what that means, but Togame cuts him off. “Just going to let him flirt with your crush, eh?”
“MY WHAT?!”
Togame gives him a half-lidded stare, and any denials die in Teruomi’s throat. “Yeah, but what am I supposed to do, huh? They look like they’re having fun together.”
“I’m sure Inu-kun’s little love wouldn’t mind you butting in…but I’m sure nothing will happen, right?” he glances over to where you are.
The pink haired boy is now playing with the sleeve of your shirt. Teruomi lets out a vague growling sound, and the empty plastic cup in his hand crumples under his grip.
“Oh, maybe I was wrong…they do seem pretty close, huh?” Togame teases.
Teruomi shoves the crunched cup into Togame’s chest. “Fuck this,” he spits, before he starts stalking towards you. He completely ignores Togame’s chuckles in the background.
-
You’re interrupted from your conversation with Kiryu by Teruomi butting in. “Hey, I’ve got to talk to you for a sec,” he says, tugging at the sleeve of your shirt. “C’mon.”
“Can’t it wait?” you ask. Normally, you would go with him, no questions asked, but you’re slightly offput by the brusque way Teruomi is acting, more akin to his fighting persona than his normal personality.
Teruomi makes a face, canines bared. “No.”
You open your mouth to argue, but then you feel someone pat your other arm, the one not held hostage by your friend. “It’s okay, you should go with your friend. I’ve got your number, so I can text you later!” Kiryu says, giving you a cat-like smile.
You swear you can hear a growl come from Teruomi, but you ignore it. “Okay. I’ll talk to you later, I guess. It was nice meeting you though.”
“Likewise,” the other boy calls, giving you a loose-sleeved wave as Teruomi tugs you away.
You’re bodily dragged away from the main party, until the two of you were tucked away behind a building.
“Hey, what the hell is up with you today,” you yelp.
Teruomi lets go of your arm, but you’re still just as trapped as before, pinned against the brick wall by his proximity. He’s so close you can see the golden flecks in his eyes, and if you weren’t pissed off you would get lost in them.
He opens his mouth, then closes it again. He repeats this a few times, like he can’t muster up the right thing to say. The fire that was in his eyes has dimmed; his face relaxing into a sheepish sort of moue.
You scoff. “Well, if there isn’t anything, I might as well go back and talk to Kiryu again.”
You barely finished your sentence before Teruomi’s eyes are blazing again. “Oh, Kiryu, huh?” he snarks. “Wanna go back to flirting with him? Y’know, this party was supposed to get Furin and Shishitoren closer together, but not that close.”
“Fuck you!” you spit, roughly shoving his chest away. “Why do you care if someone’s flirting with me or not, huh?”
He lets out a frustrated noise, almost a growl. “Because he shouldn’t have been!” he yells, fangs flashing in the light.
You pause, and gape at him. Suddenly, it all clicks; you observe his red face, his pout, and his nervous stance. You think back to how he acted when he pulled you away from Kiryu; and even further back to whenever anybody had tried to come on to you in the past. What you previously thought of as platonic protectiveness recontextualizes itself in your mind. “Holy shit,” you breathe. “You’re jealous, aren’t you?”
He doesn’t answer, but the expression on his face is enough.
You let out a breathy giggle. “I can’t believe it.”
His hands unconsciously clench into fists. “Look, you don’t hafta laugh at me—”
You cut him off with a quick peck to his mouth, before he can get himself fired up again. It’s awkward, even for a first kiss; his lips were open mid-sentence and your noses bumped together, but it’s enough to have him speechless.
You smile at the way he deflates; no longer the barking dog he was previously, he is now a docile puppy looking at you with hopeful eyes.
“Does that mean—”
You interrupt him again. “I like you.”
His eyes sparkle, and he lets out his own delirious little giggle. “I mean, I hoped, but then I saw you with him, and I saw red—‘m sorry.”
You sigh and reach out to take his hand. It’s rough, and calloused, and you run your fingers over his scarred knuckles lightly. “You acted like a bit of an asshole, but it clearly turned out okay in the end. I forgive you. I didn’t really like him anyway; I just liked the compliments. It felt nice to be doted on a bit I guess,” you admit, keeping your eyes on his hands.
“I can dote on you!” he blurts. You look back up to meet his painfully earnest gaze. “I think you’re gorgeous, and kind, and talented, and I’m so happy you like me I feel a bit dizzy right now.” He pauses for a shaky breath. “Please don’t go to anyone else for compliments, because I have years’ worth stored up. I can keep going, if you want—"
You feel like you’re on a sugar high but also, simultaneously, like you have a fever. Your face is burning, your heart is beating double-time, and you feel giddy in a distinctly dreamlike way. “Please not right now, I might explode.”
He chuckles. “Well, if I can’t compliment you, can I do something else with my mouth?”
Your jaw drops. “Wow, so forward, Teruomi~”
You can see it on his face in real time as he realizes how else his words could be interpreted. “I meant kissing! Not anything else!” he yelps, blush returning with full force. “I mean I’m not complaining if you wanna—but yeah.” He squeezes his eyes shut from embarrassment.
You have one last little laugh at his expense, before you lean forward to give him another kiss.
This one is smoother, and longer, even though it’s still relatively chaste. Now, you can fully feel his chapped lips against yours; the feeling sends a light shiver through you.
You’re only allowed to pull away for a second, before Teruomi pulls you back into him with one hand around the nape of your neck.
Your third kiss is deeper, and hotter, and leads right into a desperate fourth, and fifth, and sixth.
By the seventh kiss, he has both hands cradling your head, tilting you into him, and your arms are slung around his neck. By the eighth, his sharp canines are nipping at your lips until you open up for him, and then the two of you are licking into each other’s mouths like starving animals.
By the time you’ve completely lost count of how many kisses you’ve shared, Teruomi detaches himself from your mouth to instead press wet kisses to your neck.
You wind your hand through his dark curly hair, keeping him pressed into the crook of your neck, even as he starts to nip, and bite, and suck. The sensation of him marking you, like a territorial dog, makes a shudder run down your spine, and you let out a whine. He lets out his own moan when your grip on his hair tightens.
When you finally pull away from each other, both gasping for air, Teruomi looks at you so tenderly, you can’t bear it.
So you tug him into another kiss.
-
Unfortunately, Togame is the first to notice you when you both creep back into the party. He gives Teruomi a lazy wave, and a smirk, eyeing the rumpled clothing and bruises you both now sport.
Teruomi lets out a huff and tries to steer you back into the main crowd, where you can hopefully become lost and pretend like you weren’t just making out a few meters away from the rest of them. It mostly works, except for when you accidentally lock eyes with Kiryu. You’re frozen for a second, and then pure mortification runs through your veins as his eyes drift to your bitten neck. He gives you a cat-like smile, and a wink.
It's your turn, now, to drag your new boyfriend away, muttering a half-hearted excuse when he questions you. You hope he didn’t notice the pink haired boy, lest he become smug at Kiryu’s obvious notice of his claim.
You finally think you’re in the clear; hidden amongst the bodies in the middle of the room, where everyone is either focused on someone else or trying to push their way through the crowd. You slump into Teruomi with relief. It seems like the two of you have reentered the party with minimal disturbance.
Until you hear Teruomi curse.
“What? What is it?” you ask.
The answer does not come from him.
“INU-CHAAAAN.”
“Fuck,” you say, with feeling, before your illustrious leader bounds up to you.
Choji is beaming at the two of you; he doesn’t seem to notice anything strange at first and starts to ramble on about something inconsequential. You cross your fingers, behind your back, and hope his obliviousness protects you.
It does not.
Choji stops mid-sentence when he sees the red bite marks on your neck; he remains frozen, mouth open, as his eyes flick from you to Teruomi. You can see the amusement welling up in his eyes.
“OH WOW, WERE YOU TWO FIGHTING?”
The room quiets, and multiple people turn to look at the three of you.
You turn, and let your forehead fall onto Teruomi’s shoulder with a thunk.
“No!” Teruomi states, waving his hands in denial. “Why would you say that?”
Choji’s face is the picture of innocence as he rocks back and forth on his heels, but you don’t believe it for a second; you recognize the evil glint in his eyes. “Oh, no reason,” he says, singsong, “Just thought you might’ve been scrapping cause I saw you both go off alone, and you both came back with all those marks and bruises…” he trails off.
You get one moment of blessed silence, as the people near you process this information, before you’re inundated with laughter, wolf-whistling, and overly enthusiastic pats on the back.
“Should’ve just left the party,” Teruomi mutters.
Face still buried in his shoulder; you groan in agreement.

Heartslabyul: When They're Sick
So my best friend and I had been discussing what the boys would be like if we had to take care of them while sick…and this happened. Hope you enjoy! Also please keep in mind this series and the one right after was written literally MONTHS ago, and that includes authors notes at the start.

Heartslabyul: When They’re Sick
It was that beautiful time of year when the world was getting colder and everyone and their mother was getting the flu. Sadly, when it came to Heartslabyul, the flu ran rampant. With all their tea parties and chores, everyone worked closely together. This meant that if one person got sick, the rest of the dorm was going to be following close behind.
Tumblr media
Riddle Rosehearts
Riddle actually gets sick more often than most think, he’s just good at treating it the moment it happens. He’s almost always stressed with his studies or running his dorm, so it’s not odd to think that he gets sick pretty often. Normally he’s just a slight cold that can be treated with over the counter medicine, and it’s rare that it’s ever anything more.
As per usual Riddle style, asking for help isn’t something he’s very fond of. However, even he knows his limits so when you notice him looking like he’s on death’s door and ask him if you can take care of him, he’ll reluctantly agree. He’s a good patient for the most part, but he will be criticizing some of your methods since he does have a background with medicine due to his parents.
The only hard part with Riddle is getting him to take medication that isn’t in a pill form. It’s no secret he prefers sweeter things, so he’ll be grimacing when you show him the disgusting liquid in the cup. He might even insist that he doesn’t need it knowing full well he does. Get Trey to work his magic and make it taste less vile and he’ll down it in one go.
When it comes down to what he eats when he’s sick, he’s very picky. It has to have all the correct nutritional value. He probably had a cookbook of things that are acceptable for you to make him while he’s on the mend. If you can’t cook then you best grab someone who can, because not a single one of these recipes are simple. They do seem to be amazing for healing someone though, so it’s worth a shot at making him some.
Once he’s all better he might be a bit more bashful around you for a while. You did just see him at his most vulnerable…well one of the times he was most vulnerable. He’s going to be thanking you, and promising if you ever find yourself in a similar situation, he’ll make sure you’re well cared for.
Tumblr media
Trey Clover
It’s a bit harder to know if Trey is actually sick; he’s the oldest of his siblings and therefore was the one who always had to act like he was fine. When the flu swept through his home every year, he’d be the one taking care of everyone despite being sick himself. So when he’s sick he’ll just carry on as though it’s nothing and hope for the best. Not to say he won’t relax though if it gets bad, but it had to actually be bad for him to care about it.
He’s going to try and assure you that he’s fine despite the horrible wet cough he has going on, but if you insist even a little bit then he’ll give in and let you take care of him. It’s nice to have someone actually being the one to care for him since normally he’s by himself. He’ll make sure to express his gratitude while being spoiled by you.
Unlike some of his dorm members, he’s fine with gross tasting medicine. He swears he doesn’t even use magic to make it taste palatable…but you figure otherwise. Even while sick he’ll have that mischievous smirk and try to trick you, which normally means he’s starting to feel better.
He’s happy with whatever you make him to eat while he’s sick. He prefers things that are more bland while he’s feeling ill, but he’ll take something with a lot of spices as well to help unclog his sinuses. He’ll take whatever, as long as it’s not sweets. He knows the importance of eating correctly when sick, and can’t be coerced into eating a slice of pie for his mental well being.
Once he’s better he’s going to be thanking you a lot. Expect a delicious tart to be delivered to your dorm the moment he can move freely again without wanting to faint. He’s another one who’s promising you the sun and moon that if you ever get sick, he’ll make sure to take care of you.
Tumblr media
Cater Diamond
Cater can be a bit dramatic when he’s not feeling well. In fact, you’ll probably be finding out through social media that he’s sick before you even see him. Probably captioning a post of “If only there was a nice nurse who’d come and save me from my misery”. It’s a hint, to whom though…well nobody other than you knows. Because it’s you. He’s hinting that you should take care of him since you’re one of the few people at Night Raven that don’t have another agenda and would care for him just because you’re his friend.
As soon as you knock on his door, the floodgates are opening. Cater hates feeling sick and anything but energetic, so being sick absolutely sucked for him. He’s going to be happy you’re there, but also asking if you’re sure about helping him since he doesn't want to make you sick. He’s conflicted to the max about you helping, but just give him some assurance that you’re fine and want to make him feel better.
He’s one of the best in the dorm when it comes to taking medication. Unlike Trey and Riddle, he doesn’t care much about the taste. He’ll down it in one go like he’s taking a shot of liquor and be done with it. He doesn’t put up a fuss and is overall a very easy patient, but he’s going to be asking for you to stay with him until he’s all better. Be prepared to grab a chair and drag it over to his bedside because he doesn’t want to be left alone.
Only time you really get to leave him is to go to the restroom and grab him something to eat. He’s simple when he’s sick, grab him some chicken noodle soup and call it a day. He doesn’t care if it’s from a can or homemade, as long as he has some he swears he’ll recover in no time. He even says it's more like a magical potion than actual food.
You’re probably going to be waking up with a fully recovered Cater hoping about. He’s always recovered fast from being sick, and this is no different. Just a little bit of rest and medicine and he’ll be ready for anything. Expect to be showered in affection the moment he can, thanking you over and over again and telling you that you’re the best nurse to ever exist.
Tumblr media
Ace Trappola
Ace is one of the more dramatic members of NRC when he’s sick, but he’s going to be more whiny if anything. He hates the fact that he can’t do what he wants, but he also isn’t going to turn down the fact that this means he doesn’t have to go to class. It’s a win-lose situation for him really. If he is sick for more than three days though he will be regretting life and would rather be in class than dealing with this icky feeling.
If you offer him help then you just signed up to be his full time maid while he’s on the mend. Be expecting him to text you when he’s hungry or needs more water. He’s a huge baby, and will be teasing you the entire time. The good news is when the fever hits its peak his personality takes a dramatic turn. He becomes significantly more honest and is thanking you, even going so far to hold your hand and playing with it, letting you know he appreciates you helping him. When he’s no longer sick you best never mention this though, he’ll deny it since he can’t remember his fever induced haze.
He doesn’t like taking medicine, at all. He can down it in one go, sure, but he still hates it. He especially hates medicine that makes you drowsy since he despises the sedated feeling that takes over him. So if you’re going to be giving him medicine, make sure it won’t make him sleepy. If he gets that drowsy feeling where his mind can’t think straight and it’s not just from the fever, he’s going to be mad and refuse to take anything else.
He won’t turn down anything you make him, honestly. He’ll happily eat anything you bring him, even if it’s just something from the cafeteria. Just be careful if Grim comes with you, because the little cat is going to be trying to snag food off of Ace’s plate. The good news is if they begin arguing, you know Ace is starting to feel better.
The moment he’s better he is out of bed, ready to take on the world. He refuses to stay another minute in his shared dorm room, wanting to get out and cause some trouble. Of course he’ll be thanking you, but also saying that if you ever get sick, count him out of helping. He saw all the shit you had to put up with when taking care of him, and he’d rather not deal with that himself. At least he thanked you though…right?
Tumblr media
Deuce Spade
Deuce is a mama’s boy, and whenever he got sick his mother would be the one to figure it out right away. This meant he was used to being taken care of the moment he got even the slightest of colds. Half the time he wouldn’t even realize he was getting sick, and since it was caught so early it was over before it even began. Sadly coming to Night Raven meant when he got sick and he didn’t realize it, it got bad and fast.
He’s the one reaching out for help before you even know he’s sick. Messaging you and informing you of his situation, asking if you could bring over some medicine and soup. He’s not asking to be babied, but he doubted his dorm mates would be much help. His best bet was Trey when it came to being taken care of, and he was too weak to leave the bed and inform his Vice Dorm Leader that he was in need of help.
When it comes to taking medicine, he dislikes it, but does it anyway without much fuss. He would always remember his mom’s disappointed face when he didn’t take medication as a child and learned how to just down it. Don’t be surprised if you hear him mumbling “Around the teeth, through the gums, watch out guts, here it comes.” Before drinking the meds. He’s going to be pounding a water bottle after it though to get the sickening taste out of his mouth.
Deuce will take anything you hand him while sick and be thanking you the entire time. He’ll even insist you eat with him and move over on his bed to have you sit down with your bowl of soup. He gets a bit more talkative despite his throat being sore, so tell him that he needs to rest after eating something. If you want huge brownie points, grab his phone and call his mom to find out what she puts in her lentil soup that she always makes when Deuce is sick. The boy will be crying tears of happiness the moment the first spoonful hits his tongue.
Deuce is a bit slower on recovering, and will take a few days to be back to his normal energy levels. After the first two days though you don’t have to worry about playing nurse anymore, it’s mainly just the after effects. He is thanking you though and expect a present to be in your mailbox when he is better. Mama Spade did teach her son to always thank people properly, so you’ll have a handwritten letter that’s barely legible and some snacks along with it.

tell a friend to tell a friend, she’s bacccck 🤭 🤭 🤭
~ 😗 pick an image 😗 ~
Todays topic is… DRUM ROLL PLZ 🗣️.. 🥁 🥁 🥁
Why do ppl hate on u?? 🤔
Tumblr media
Group 1:
Tumblr media
You’re the type of person that is very thorough and this makes other people compare themselves to you and automatically feel attacked bc it’s so obvious that they’re only working to achieve the bare minimum. Before meeting you most people did only what was expected of them in school and work until they met you and now they see you as the standard. If you were such a bad person then why would random stranger customers praise you??? give you gifts, buy you snacks, etc if you were such the bad guy like people make you to be.
You’re the type of person that people may pick on for no reason not bc they see you as weak but bc they WANT you to FEEL left out, these types of people were the ones crying and complaining on social media during quarantine about how lonely they were and sad bc they had to be by themselves and you was just there sipping your tea bc you did your shadow work years ago when everyone else was creating soul ties and being n superficial frenemey relationships . You’ve been ostracized since an early age, but they can’t seem to understand why no matter how cliqued up they are and you’re standing alone or with one other person who also stands alone, why you aren’t begging to be n the circle or why you aren’t trying to prove yourself to others. whole time you’re loved by your family, your community , your siblings and or you have a friend group outside of them that they’re not aware of. Needless to say, you’re pretty fulfilled in life.
Bc of your high IQ, whether you know or not, you actually are gifted in creativity. For most you prob are supppper stylish you’re Mr or Misses put that shit on .. like FORREAL, and you rarelllllly get compliments or you do but not publicly or people may come days later like I saw that pic you posted and you’re thinking to yourself liiiiike hmm I didn’t see you n the likes thooo hater if you seen it why you ain’t like it then?? 🙄 people tell on themselves and you’ll realize years later that the whole time you were really the IT girl or Him but you make people feel small so they’d never tell you. Silent stalkers, silent obsessed fans and hidden enemies & prob people who call themselves your besties bc they wanna be accepted by the masses and since your the unconventional baddie (really not unconventional it’s just everyone else is basic and unoriginal / you break the norms and people don’t know how to be stylish outside of following trends or recreating what they see on their FYP or timeline…) anyway the way you dress is original and you’re prob good at trend forecasting and when you say stuff people be like “shut up” cuz you’re always right and people are inept when it comes to being creative or original; at the same time if someone was to try to wear what you’d wear for some reason they’d look like a fool 😂 it’s giving that’s so raven vibes where you’re psychic AND fashionable like how you gonna be the whole package? Meanwhile they’re getting bashed by their own family members for being dumb as doorknobs lmao
School : you’re the type to actually pay attention and when simple questions are asked you realize how little common sense people have bc they’ll basically repeat what was just said and so many people are used to being pacified and not called out on their BS bc it’s “not nice” but you’re like eff that why did you just ask what we’re doing n class when we’ve been talking about it for the last 30 min like bffr?? Cuz atp you’re playing in MYYY face for wasting my precious time by having to repeat simple stuff. I see you being the type where you’re tired of the professor asking the class questions and the class just mute sitting there like 🥴😓🫤🫠😵‍💫😴 .. AGAIN WASTING YOUR PRECIOUS LIFE FOR WATTT EXACTLY? So you *sigh* (save the day Superman /superwoman) by , once AGAIN, answering.. the.. questions.. you feel a tap on your shoulder.. “how did you know that??” ARGHHHH you want to scream bc I’m sorry [TW] everyone at your school is stupid or slow and it be making you feel like you weren’t even supposed to be born n this time period bc it’s no way 😂 you’re the type to get a bad grade n an easy class like gym just bc you didn’t try or change out when in reality you don’t gaf bc you prob have a high GPA anyways. I see you overall being a nice person (I just seen 3:33) but you have a low tolerance bc you know what you want out of life and everyone is just going thru the motions.
Work: you exemplify great customer service and work ethic and most people may hate on you bc customers prefer your service over others not just bc you look good 😂 which people also try to say you have pretty privilege and that disgusts them bc you actually do but don’t get it twisted bc you’re handsome intelligent and you understand psychology really well which goes hand in hand with sales. Don’t let anyone make you feel bad for being friendly or doing your job right. I don’t see you being like a stickler rule follower but rather someone who engages with customers to make the day go faster and honestly it builds rapport and makes your reputation even better bc you could be the youngest yet seem the most knowledgeable bc people who’ve worked there longer or have senior experience bc they’re much older feel like you should just take notes from them even tho there’s no notes to be taken bc you body the job. In fact you body everything you do like they wouldn’t hire you if you weren’t qualified. You’re the type to get the job bc of your experience then when you work your magic now all your coworkers are hating UGH I can relate
Alright group 1 we’ve been going in LMBO if you want more actually check the other piles bc this one is getting long , like 2 may resonate assswelllllll🫶🏽✨💕
Group 2:
Tumblr media
Okay girl people hate on you because they assume that because of how you dress you could come from a family that is a little more well off even tho you don’t flaunt it , tbh you are a lowkey kind of person and may be a bit timid. I see that you challenge yourself and put yourself out there because you’re a talented individual but your anxiety or shyness may get the best of you. You’re very intuitive and you can pick up on other peoples emotions you may be claircognizant or clairaudient or like the character in Charlie Bone who could touch objects and be transported back , so you sense things that most people don’t notice like subtleties and small changes n the frequencies.
People hate on you for seeing right thru them.. it’s unfair to ppl that try to hide behind a mask or coverup their true intentions or emotions and you may innocently ask someone what happened or what’s wrong bc something did and they didn’t tell anyone. So they immediately project on to you and call you weird or try to embarrass you wen you were trying to put yourself out there by being nice. Sorry I got side tracked but you could also be the type of person that doesn’t have alot of money but you’re resourceful and people wonder how you look so stylish when you’re not wearing anything designer. Or if you do wear designer brands it’s not the mainstream designer that people are used to and even up and coming designers that you’re aware of as are most people who are into the fashion world but these people are basic so all they know is Gucci.. you’ll have something on and people like it and love it trust me but they’ll try to get you to doubt your choices by making you the joke but honestly if it was so bad then why y’all talking about it sm?? Like who’s the fan? they are 🤭
People hate on you bc you’re chosen and they have pick me energy.. like you have the ability to stay focus and you’re selective with your energy I see you have this one true friend you rely on and everyone can’t stand them bc they’re 10 toes down for you and there’s prob a lot of daily talk where you’re the topic of conversation and others wish that people talked about them sm like they do you so they’d feel important but you’ve prob stopped someone from telling you what others say about you to you bc it isn’t aligned with your higher self or the action of gossip is just low vibrational. you’re like why’re y’all talking sm about other folks like can y’all step your game up so you can be the topic instead ??? You’ve prob told people you don’t care to go to college bc you want to sing , dance, act or do art.. strong fire energy or Aquarius energy. Like you’re just different and in your own lane and if anyone tried to find their way into your lane they’d automatically get called a copycat.
You’re the popular loner; you mind your business and stay focused and people hate on you bc you’re not easily distracted, there are no rumors that can go on about you bc you’re authentically you even tho you’re to yourself everyone knows exactly what you’re about and you really don’t leave any room for confusion or assumption cuz a “bih knew better than to to let [me]/ you hear it” .. 😂
People hate on your bc they can’t try you and honestly you’re probably everyone’s crush and they’re all competing for you.. funny thing is people don’t converse about how hot you are to each other bc in everyone’s eyes they’re trying to get with you or you’re their imaginary gf or bf and they wouldn’t admit it bc they don’t really wanna know who you’d pick😂 BIG delusional energy , you don’t have mean girl vibes but you don’t play the BS games. You make people feel like they have to step their game up like they may act childish but when you come around everyone straightens up and fights for your attention even if it’s a friend group bc they’re all secretly in love with you and wonder what type of things you’d like so they can win you over
People hate on you bc of how classy you are it doesn’t come off as arrogant, it just gives boujee high standard vibes. you could have a very attractive parent or older sister and peoples older siblings and parents can have crushes on your family and that’s why people hate bc they ugly 😂 or if their dad has a crush on your mom it’s like 🙄 it seems like people cannot escape you bc you’re the talk of the town.. people also hate on you because people try to be like you wen they realize their crush likes you bc even if you were to like someone back you don’t make it obvious you like to play hard to get or you like to be chased (AS YOU SHOULD ).. you may catch people watching you or eavesdropping or trying to steal glances at your phone or Instagram.. people would love to be your friend to get advice from you but they’re jealous and jealousy consumes people.. you’re really the nicest person but you couldn’t care less who likes you or doesn’t cuz at the end of the day you have INFLUENCE. And with great power comes great responsibility.. years later these people may try to friend you on FB or tell you how inspired they were by you or they wish you were friends.. but like they couldn’t handle being your friend anyway bc their standards for themselves really aren’t that high and it shows 😂
Strong Scorpio rising or Scorpio placements but now Scorpio sun
Group 3:
Tumblr media
Bet y’all never heard this one 👇🏽😜 [explicit lyrics]
Okay last but not least pile 3 you should read pile 2 bc it’ll make more sense. you are also extremely talented and for some reason you have this karmic lesson that you have to overcome where everyone tries to put you into a certain box like oh you should just be a nurse o you should do this or be that but they don’t have the type of talent you have and with that type of talent that you have will attract a lot of naysayers but if you do music you either have a very angelic voice or your music tone or type is original like Kendrick Lamar’s flow when he first came out or like a mixture of alternative rap.. whatever it is don’t be shy try to live out loud. You’re not the type of artist that shoves your art in peoples faces and if you put your art on a platform like Etsy or SoundCloud I see the more intention you put into it and the more you believe in yourself the more attention you attract from strangers. People hate on you because you stand by your work whether it be tarot, pottery, resin work, herbology, makeup etc and people in your hometown may not support it as much as others do… like if you were to have a showcase I see people from other places hoping you announce a date so they can come to your city and support you aww 🥹 it MAY take years of hard work BUT that’s what people want us to think.. the Divine blessed you with a gift that you should love OUT loud.. the more you do the more resistance you’ll get from those around you but that’s bc Saturn, Rahu, Mercury, and Ketu want to challenge how hard you’ll work bc not everyone deserves to be famous which is why some famous people or people of notoriety flop or don’t last long bc it’s not genuine.. you don’t do it for the money you do it out of love..
people hate on you because you EXUDE love.. you ARE LOVE and there’s nothing bad people can say about you bc you don’t harm anyone you give people compliments but I see a lot of people from your family or hometown deal with generational trauma and they’re not used to Divine energy and true love so you trigger people bc you illuminate their shadows and you make them uncomfortable with how at peace you are with yourself.. you are an influence /influencer (in the making.. on a wide scale don’t think that you’re not an influencer just bc you’re it rich or famous or getting a bunch of brand deals baby you better live delusional cuz that’s how you manifest)
people hate on you bc they may secretly buy your products or listen to your music when they’re alone and it triggers something n their soul when they hear your voice and words and it may make them cry bc they realize how unhappy with self they are .. people wish they had your confidence to have a passion and a gift and to love it sm that you want to share it with the world they also hate how insecure they are.. they know your songs bar for bar and want to play it n public but feel embarrassed 😒
People hate on you because you’re funny and for some reason people wanna hate you sooooo bad for no reason lol what’s their problem and you make your haters and enemies laugh and they can’t help it to the point where they may try to be nice to you and even if they didn’t do anything overly mean or bully like to you you look at them like their dumb wen they do bc you’re like ummm didn’t you hate me last week ???? And now they have a reason to make you the bad guy (might wanna read group 1)
People hate on you for being the youngest 😂 they hate on you for dumb things like having small hands or being dainty .. people could hate on your for liking cute stuff (like hello kitty or computer games even if they’re violent or logical games) like you’re like a cute little angel baby even if you’re a guy and if you’re a guy people hate on you bc you’re sweet and quiet and you laugh to yourself and other guys feel like you should flex your masculinity some people (TW) may try to say you’re gay for liking certain things which you could be and so what if you are gay used to mean happy ☺️ but for most of you I see you’re severely homosexual lol and lowkey all the girls have crushes on you but even tho you’re a quiet angel baby you prob got lean muscles and dark hair and you just don’t look like the other guys it’s crazy how men deal with beauty standards like women too but even tho most people may not have an outward crush on you, if there was a vote most people surprisingly to you would actually say you’re quite attractive ..
people hate on you bc you wear simple clothes like graphic tees and joggers and you look so hot 😂 I see you may be kind of a clutz or accidentally wear mix match shoes bc you got dressed n the dark lmao it’s giving strong struggling artist hobo vibes lmao and people hate that about you bc you’re naturally alluring and radiant. You may like anime or like to tell stories, even tho people may try to act like you’re lame if there was a bonfire people would want you there and sometimes people may try to throw parties just to see if you’d show up but you never do bc ✨social anxiety✨ .. strong E girl E boy /goth vibes it reminds me of stefan salvatore from vampire diaries 🤭😍🤤😫.. you’re not actually a guys guy or a girls girl bc you prob have a lot of siblings that are the opposite gender or you and you’re the only one that’s a girl amongst brothers or vice versa or if you’re the only boy with a bunch of sisters you may have a baby brother that’s wayyyyy younger than you .. basically you see how people may use manipulative tactics due to gender
I keep seeing backpacks maybe you take transit a lot of you like to walk and you just got your backpack but what you got n there Dora? 👀 better not be a weapon of mass destruction lolz jk
Strong mutable sign vibes or check your Pisces /12th house and gemini houses or Mercury

alright sorry to be a bitch about casting, but i’m gonna bc i do think it’s important to illustrating the feel of a character (if you come to me to bitch and whine about black annabeth get the fuck off my lawn). myself and others have already talked at length about the writing of the series, so if you’re looking for more weighty criticism, just scroll thru the pjo crit tag, now is my time to be a stickler for details, and this is a live action show, a visual medium, the casting is important for reasons beyond an actor’s ability to deliver lines. embodying the character purely in an actor’s personality isn’t enough—they need to physically feel like they could be this person to really sell it (there’s also something to be said abt not having to cast someone who supposedly feels like the character they’re playing just as themself—it’s called acting for a reason, but i digress).
just. take in the official viria pjo art of sally jackson.
Tumblr media
look at this woman. look at her!! that is MOTHER. that is the woman who worked herself to the bone to single handedly raise perseus jackson, flaws and all. that is the woman who rocked up to the battle of manhattan with a shotgun and A WILL. that is the woman poseidon himself called a queen amongst women and offered a palace to. with warm lighting only outshone by her reassuring smile and the candle of percy’s blue birthday cupcake—that’s sally jackson. the composition of it, her pose and welcoming smile, makes the viewer feel like we are percy jackson, and it’s our birthday we’re being beckoned to join in the celebration of, a special moment between mother and child.
now look at this woman.
Tumblr media
i feel like i’ve had this english teacher before, asking me why my autistic ass was tweaking out in the middle of her lesson on iambic peranimeter. i’m sure she’s a nice lady in real life, it’s nothing against her as a person or her skills as an actress, to me she just lacks the warmth and gentleness crucial to sally jackson’s feel as a character. that is my own subjective take. she doesn’t make my shoulders relax at the sight of her. her smile doesn’t make the tightness in my chest go away. looking at this sally jackson, i feel everything her character ISN’T meant to embody. i start feeling stressed out. like everything is somehow a lesson and she has grand expectations of my answer. and the script does NOT do her any favors with lines like “you decide how ugly this gets” at VERY MINOR “outbursts” of percy’s. paired together, the script and the casting, we get what feels more like all the chastising teachers in percy’s life rather than his loving and patient MOTHER. and i don’t wanna hear another one of y’all defend this depiction as more accurate to parents of ND children or i’m gonna lose it.
now finally, look at this woman.
Tumblr media
we can bash the pjo movies for all their inaccuracies and adaptation flaws, but if there’s one thing they nailed, it’s sally jackson. the kind eyes. the welcoming and reassuring gaze. a tired yet inherently trustworthy face. she’s so open. she feels so special, so giving, even if she herself has little. i can see myself laughing in her kitchen, making seven-layer dip or blue cookies. i can see her handing me an extra few jelly beans after a long shift at the candy store. i can see myself as percy jackson, able to put aside another school expulsion because that’s my mother and she’ll never let me doubt she loves me. i can see why poseidon, god of the sea, would fall in love with her in a way he hadn’t in thousands of years. i can see him offering her the world.
i don’t know if this casting impacted the official art, it did come first, maybe that’s a well-known fact and i just sound like a jackass—nor is official art is the end all be all (looking the og official pjo art dead in the eyes)—but this woman just deeply strikes me as the same sally jackson as the one in viria’s art and the pjo books. she’s sally jackson in ways show sally vehemently just… is not.

“it’s a date”
owen power x reader
🦋 BORDYSBAE’S 500 CELLY
— ୨୧ —
math. the subject that you hate, and apparently also hates you just as much. the C- that’s sitting in the grade book is haunting you. so, you do the best thing possible. and that’s ask your professor if he’s aware of any math tutors. he sends you the number of one of his students, but forgets to tell you just exactly who the person is.
as you walk into the library, that’s where you see the douchebag hockey player, owen power. you’ve spoken to him a few times, but never have they been very pleasant conversations. he stole your nice pen from you, he’s always begging you for a piece of paper, and he’s also almost always chuckling with his friend in class. owen and his friend sit a couple rows behind you, and they’re such a bother. sure, you can move seats easily, but you mentally claimed that one at the start of the semester. you also refuse to give him the pleasure of seeing you move seats.
“you’re my tutor? absolutely not,” you scoff and turn on your heel, but suddenly a large hand finds it’s way upon your shoulder. you turn around, and see owen towering over you. his brown eyes are looking down at you through the glass lenses resting upon his nasal bridge.
“woah, what was that all about?” owen chuckles slightly.
“no offense, owen, but you’re not really my favorite person. i don’t really want you to see how bad i am at math and laugh in my face with your idiot friends, so i’m just gonna find someone else to tutor me. thanks though,” you falsely smile. you turn around again, leaving owen utterly shocked.
“y/n hold on!” he shouts, immediately realizing he’s in the library after he does so. you turn around and look up at the boy once again.
“yes owen?” you groan.
“just give me a chance please? i hardly even know you, so let me prove to you i’m not this douchebag you think i am,” he smiles hopefully.
you realize what’s on the line here, and agree. you’re only doing this because your grade needs to rise, and definitely not because you have a soft spot for boys with glasses.
you sit across from him at the table, and tell him about the assignments you need help with. before you even realize it, an hour passes by, and owen’s actually a really good tutor. you’re actually starting to understand, so you both decide to take a break for a few minutes. you look up from your scratch paper, and that’s when you see owen already looking at you. “still think i’m such a douche?” he teasingly asks.
you roll your eyes, “no. but you better not go report back to your friends how dumb i am then go and hold it against me,” you say pointing a finger at him.
he lets out a laugh, “i won’t don’t worry. but you’re not even dumb, y/n. you’re learning so quickly i’m impressed. i don’t even think we need a second session, but i wouldn’t mind one,” he shyly says while fidgeting with his fingers.
your eyes widen, “w-what? did you just- ask me out?” you stutter, very taken back by his words.
“um yeah, is that okay? you can say no, it’s just that i’ve thought you were really cute for awhile now,” he nervously smiles.
“of course i’ll go out with you owen. and i’m sorry for assuming you were some asshole hockey player,” you chuckle.
“well how about on saturday i pick you up and we get coffee? maybe then i can return your pen that i stole, and prove i’m not the stereotypical hockey guy,” he cheesily grins.
you gasp at his words, “you still have that pen?! and you remembered?!”
“i was actually planning on giving it back to you the next time we had class, but i totally forgot. it’s been sitting on my desk ever since,” he says with a bashful blush on his cheeks.
“well then, i guess you’ll have to give me it on saturday. it’s a date.”
