Characters: Ace Trappola, Deuce Spade, Cater Diamond, Trey Clover, Riddle Rosehearts.

Summary: (Continuation, after this) The main cast of Twisted Wonderland is in ruins after realizing the player’s vessel, Yuu, has mysteriously gone out of commission. So when Grim vanishes and appears next with a stranger holding Yuu’s camera, they cannot recognize the player they practically worship and assume the worst: that this person is an imposter. 

Note: This is just the first part, only with Heartslabyul. I’ll post the rest soon, once I actually get around to writing it. Anyways, I hope you enjoy!

Cater’s cheerful on the outside, but you can tell he’s not super thrilled about studying, he’s more into vibes than vocab drills. Still, he sticks around because he wants to help.

He’ll suggest making colorful flashcards or recording voice memos to make memorizing more fun. He’s surprisingly organized when he has structure.

“Ughhh, do we really gotta go over this section again? Wait, no no—I'm not ditching! Just…brain break time?”

He encourages you with lighthearted jabs that never feel mean.

“Hey, look at you go! If you keep this up, I might have to start copying your notes!”

You’ll catch him checking your focus sometimes, because if you’re serious about passing, then he will be too.

Later he might post a vague Magicam story like “Studying with real ones hits different.” (It’s about you. You just don’t know it.)

Trey’s the ideal balance of calm and productive. Studying with him feels like sipping warm tea; you feel focused, safe, and cared for.

He’s great at helping you memorize, especially if it’s related to logic or patterns.

If your stomach growls, he’s already reaching for a snack box.

“Take a break. A fed brain is a smart brain.”

When you thank him, he smiles softly.

“Of course. I don’t mind helping you. You work hard, and that matters.”

You leave the session with a full mind and a fuller heart.

Leona acts like he’s so bored to be studying, but he’s sharper than he lets on.

The two of you probably end up studying while lying in the sun somewhere, textbooks propped open lazily.

He explains things with blunt efficiency and grumbles if you miss easy questions, but never actually leaves.

“Tch. I already told you how to do that. C’mon, you’re smarter than this.”

But the moment you get something right?

“... Heh, See? Knew you’d catch on.”

He never says it, but studying with you keeps him grounded. He’d rather be here than anywhere else.

Studying with Vil feels like an academic runway—organized, composed, and elegantly intense.

He has high expectations, but he’s not cold—he wants you to shine.

When you struggle, he gently adjusts your notes or posture, never harsh, just… precise.

“Hold yourself with pride. Intelligence and beauty go hand in hand.”

If you impress him, he offers genuine praise, touching his chest like a pleased director.

“Very good. See? I knew you were capable of excellence.”

You leave feeling like you just passed a personal trial. You want to be better around him.

Studying with Rook is an experience. He romanticizes everything; he calls your learning process “sublime,” your confusion “a poetic struggle,” and your notes “a canvas.”

He watches your face intensely as you read, commenting on how you furrow your brows in thought.

“Magnifique! Such raw focus—c’est inspirant!”

Somehow he knows random facts that are on the exam, and he quizzes you with flair.

He’ll dramatically recite questions like they’re lines in a play, then wink when you answer correctly.

It’s weirdly motivating… and kind of fun.

When you first ask to study with Idia, he panics. “W-Wait, like, in-person? Together? In the same room??” You can practically hear the error sounds in his head.

But he doesn’t say no. After a few awkward silences and you settling in quietly, he lets you stay.

Idia doesn’t really “study” in the traditional sense—he breezes through calculations and logic-based subjects like he’s speedrunning a strategy game.

He’ll mutter explanations more to himself than to you, but when you ask questions, he’ll blink and repeat it more clearly (and slowly).

“Oh. Uh… right, okay. So if you think of the equation like cooldown rotation, then this variable's basically your setup move…”

He never expects praise, so when you do praise him, he just about bluescreens. His hair flickers pink for 0.3 seconds before he turns away with a rushed “N-Not really… It’s not like I did anything cool…”

The study session ends in silence, but it’s not uncomfortable. Before you leave, he says, without looking up, “If you… ever need help again… I guess I’m around.”

It’s not an invitation, not exactly. But you both know you’ll be back.

Studying with Malleus is quiet, focused, and oddly soothing. He asks questions that feel more like philosophical riddles, and you both end up tangenting into historical lore.

He’s incredibly patient. If you stumble, he waits for you to find your footing.

“Take your time. Knowledge is not a race.”

He listens to your thoughts with full attention, occasionally giving this small, amused smile when you think aloud.

If you fall asleep mid-study, he quietly watches over you like a protective shadow.

You always leave feeling like you learned something deeper than academics.

Studying with Lilia is unpredictable. Sometimes he’s wise and composed, helping you connect concepts like a veteran mage. Other times, he’s humming pop songs and offering “ancient” study tips that are 500 years out of date.

“In my day, we wrote essays with quills made from wyvern feathers! So much character…”

He makes learning fun, even if he occasionally leads you wildly off-topic.

He praises your efforts with a proud chuckle.

“You’ve improved so much! I’d say I’m proud, but I’ve always been proud of you.”

You never know what to expect—but it’s always a lovely time.

diagnosing the twst boys aka putting my psych degree to good use. wrote these on discord mobile at like midnight last night so forgive any weirdness.

Riddle: C-PTSD (his mother was/is very clearly abusive and extremely controlling. he has been experiencing trauma his whole life.), possibly on the spectrum as well

Trey: probably neurotypical and mentally well. the teeth thing is pretty weird though.

Cater: Major Depressive Disorder, but he masks pretty well.

Ace: honestly? Probably neurotypical and not mentally ill but if i were to diagnose him, perhaps ADHD Inattentive Type??

Deuce: Before i read his dorm vignette i may have said he has a learning disorder like dyscalculia or dyslexia, but he clearly shows that he doesn't struggle with academics due to disordered thinking so much as it's due to lacking the fundamentals. He picks up math pretty well just from using riddle's textbook. He may have had conduct disorder in his youth, but that also could have been him acting out for other reasons and i honestly think it's more likely the latter. Maybe has some form of ADHD but I'm not certain.

Leona: very clear case of Major Depressive Disorder.

Ruggie: C-PTSD (extreme poverty is, in fact, traumatizing)

Jack: bro is carrying the mental wellness of savanaclaw on his well-built shoulders

Azul: Body Dysmorphic Disorder and EDNOS (Eating Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). He has some serious body image issues to the point that i would definitely classify them as disordered, and he exhibits restrictive eating habits that also fall within the bounds of disordered eating. I wouldn't say he's anorexic or bulimic, so EDNOS is probably the best diagnosis.

Jade: okay. So. If Jade were over 18, i would say he might have a cluster b personality disorder (cluster b includes antisocial personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, and histrionic personality disorder. Yknow. The most stigmatized ones.), but you CANNOT diagnose anyone under the age of 18 with a personality disorder... and also i don't think he quite meets the criteria? Maybe on the spectrum. He's a freak but idk if he's diagnosable.

Floyd: ADHD, either combined or inattentive type. people like to throw around the word "bipolar" with floyd but they have a fundamental misunderstanding of bipolar disorder. BD mood swings are not even close to the frequency of floyd's. They can last for weeks or even months and are far more extreme highs and lows. He matches ADHD symptoms far better (constantly seeking stimulation, emotional dysregulation, trouble maintaining focus, etc.).

Kalim: ADHD combined type and C-PTSD. Listen. It is not fucking normal to constantly be in fear for your life and it will leave a person traumatized. Also he matches the classical ADHD symptoms.

Jamil: probably also has C-PTSD. Wouldn't be surprised if he develops some kind of personality disorder either due to trauma.

Vil: okay like... honestly? I think he's okay. He has some inferiority complex going with neige but 1. That's not a diagnosis and 2. It's not particularly disordered aside from the SDC incident.

Rook: he's a freak. But idk if his freak is diagnosable.

Epel: "a bit of a dick sometimes" is not a diagnosis

Idia: Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, MDD, autism, and PTSD. please god get this guy some antidepressants.

Ortho: he is a robot. he has a soul now but he seems like a very neurotypical and not mentally ill robot. Idk maybe autism??

Malleus: this guy is so full of autism it's unreal

Lilia: PTSD. Not even a question.

Silver: Narcolepsy, possibly with cataplexy, although I don't know if his sleeping spells constitute true cataplexy. Excessive daytime sleepiness is, however, a classical symptom of narcolepsy. Also probably on the spectrum. Flat affect king.

Sebek: Autistic ADHD legend. specifically ADHD hyperactive type.

Riddle is a little bit shy about it, but Malleus just considers Cater their unofficial wedding photographer and to be fair, Cater DOES constantly make cute albums of those two together. He does put in the work for those follows and likes.

it's a small, seemingly insignificant heart on your cheek but it means everything, and he knows it

I feel like he wouldn't be able to mention it after you initially show it to him, it's too embarrassing. And if someone asks, he's coughing and saying it's nothing really

But in reality that little heart shows your devotion, it shows you care about the things important to him

he insists on being with you whenever you're putting it back on to make sure it follows the rules of course! not because he loves seeing you so carefully and gently doing it..

the heart on your cheek may as well be Riddle's own heart

Trey Clover

trey looks so smug when he sees it

gathers you up in a big hug as he laughs, of course you'd get a little clover under your eye! it was your way of saying you were his and he couldn't be more proud

he's a lot more sly than he appears, and seeing a piece of him on you that tells EVERYONE who you're with... well, he eats it up

will always help you reapply it whenever you want, but doesn't push for you to have it all the time. it wouldn't mean much if he was forcing you into it, right?

sometimes he'll smudge it on "accident" just so you have to place it again. let's pick somewhere fun to put it together, okay?

Cater Diamond

nearly starts to cry

he meant that much to you?? that you'd place a diamond perfectly on your little round cheek??

when you confirm that, yeah, you did it because he means a lot to you, he DOES start to cry

takes a bunch of pictures of you with the diamond being the focal point, but he kind of hesitates to post them... he settles on just keeping them private for now

maybe he'll use them in the future if someone else tries to weasel their way into your heart :)

he always comes to your room any time either of you need that perfect diamond back on your faces <3

Deuce Spade

freezes up and can only stare as you ask what he thought

I feel like he would never really bring it up, it's too embarrassing, but when others talk about it? oh boy, the teasing he'll go through. all about how you chose to represent him and how obvious the love is

he really, really tries to be casual about it, but one day when it's pouring down and you're running back to your dorm, the little spade gets all washed up

gently, Deuce runs a finger along what's left and says you'll have to do it again

THEN he realizes what he just did and jumps away like a frightened cat. Tries to pretend it didn't happen and goes: "Ah, I mean.. if you needed help doing it again, I can assist!"

wants to be so smug about it, but you can tell he's really losing his cool

it's just so... personal, and lovely. It gives him butterflies every time he sees it

with others, he's still annoying like, of course they chose me! the little ace compliments you the best after all!

then as soon as you walk in it's all poorly hidden lovesick smiles. he's thinking the same things he could say out loud to others but in a more dreamy way

Let's face it, if you picked him, the both of you are probably getting into constant shenanigans, and smudging both of your marks
