Actually while I have you here if you have any advice for learning the bass that's a thing I'm trying to do :]

well for starters the same general advice for any instrument also works for the bass. the most important would be practice as often as you feel comfortable and try to have fun. along with that you should try to listen to the kinds of songs you'd like to play and try to isolate the sound of the bass and really focus on what they're doing and how it affects the music.

I personally believe the bass is an instrument that exists to give music feeling, and in order to do that you need to be able to feel the music yourself. I like to really try to get into a groove when I practice/play, it helps keep things fun even when you're doing exercises that aren't very fun themselves.

and speaking of exercises, do finger exercises!!!!! how you play is heavily influenced by the genre you play but all kinds of bass playing requires finger strength and dexterity on at least your left hand. if you're not sure what kinds of exercises to do, you can look up some basic ones on youtube and try them out. I recommend what I call "fret ladders" (idk what they're actually called but I call them that cause you move your fingers along the frets, one finger per fret, up and down the fret board) they really help with loosening up your hand and helps strengthen and improve mobility in all your fingers, especially the two smaller fingers. I try to do exercises like that for about 5-10 minutes before playing, every session. you can do more and I would recommend doing more if you're just starting out.

Other than that, youtube tutorials (song specific ones) and "play along" type videos can help too but they arent for everyone.

Every time I talk to a DB fan who doesn't know or doesn't agree that the whole franchise is an adventure comedy first and an action series second I feel insane but then I find an old Toriyama interview,

You made some comedic scenes where you have minor villains Pilaf & co. appear; how did you come up with a balance between laughs and fierce battles? Do you pay attention to the difference between comedy and battle in making a work “entertaining”?

I believe that, when you combine comedy and serious battles, both of them might come alive even more. As for me personally, though, I much prefer drawing dumb jokes to battle scenes.

In the latest movie, Toriyama-san, you participated in the production from the scriptwriting stage for the first time. What is the reason for that? Was there anything you noticed in coming face-to-face with the work after so long?

I was told about a project for Dragon Ball in its first animated film in a long while, and I read the story outline; while the beings “Beerus, God of Destruction” and “Super Saiyan God” (which goes above Super Saiyan) were interesting, the themes were heavy, and I felt that the world was a bit different from Dragon Ball. Rather than telling them about this or that problematic spot, I thought it would be faster if I just wrote it out concretely, and while I had intended just to give them a model―”for example”―my hand wouldn’t stop, and ultimately, I ended up writing almost everything, including the dialogue. I am reflecting on the fact that I did something terribly rude to the scriptwriter.

When I was 16 my psychologist made me do an exercise where I had to draw different emotions and I depicted all of them as creatures. This was my design for 'Love' and at the time I didn't understand why she remarked that my design was unusual, but looking back at it now yeah no I get it. Anyway I spruced up this ol' lad because Valentine's is coming up and it reminded me of my love monster. Some lore and bonus doodles under the cut, feel free to psychoanalyze my relationship with this specific emotion along with me

Love is a curious, communal and very affectionate species, one that is capable of forming strong bonds even with other animals. They express fondness in multiple different ways - from nuzzling, grooming and cuddling, to bringing all sorts of trinkets, food or other things their beloved might like, each individual having their own main love language. They also tend to wear their hearts on their shoulders, with such expressive body language it is hard to not be able to tell what one is feeling.

However, not all members of this species are very nice. While Love has a strong urge to give affection, it also craves that same affection back. Some animals (and sometimes even members of their own species) may prey on these instincts by tolerating these excitable critters, giving the bare minimum in return to maintain a bond, and reaping the benefits from the Love's attention and care. Some animals have even evolved a way to mimic a frill like the one of the Love species, their main way of showing their true feelings, to more effectively trap a Love in this one way relationship. Other times Loves can forget, or even willfully ignore, their sharp teeth, powerful clawed arms and rough, scaly, saggy skin, with can end up hurting someone during an intense cuddle session. It's not uncommon that they prioritize their own comfort and feelings over another's, which is why they sometimes ignore that their way of expressing affection is hurting someone, and refuse to let go if someone they're bonded to wants out.

While it is capable of forming bonds with other species, it's not exactly easy. Due to the Love's carnivorous nature and spontaneous, sudden movements, it scares other critters away, causing most Loves to be confined to their own communities.

I have always written in past tense but have really enjoyed writing in present tense lately?? But I saw a few people talking about how a lot of readers refuse to read fanfics written in present tense and I was curious about how true that was?
