I have had a minute to process. And I will say I was right about two things, one that Tommy was engaged to Abby once upon a time and that being the thing to break them up, and two that Buck would go straight to Eddie after he and Tommy broke up.

Now for the things I did not expect and the thoughts I had on them:

Josh saying that Buck lives in a post Glee world. Now, Josh DID have a point. But if the timeline of the show is the timeline of when it aired, Abby and Tommy would have been engaged from like 2015-2017. Glee ENDED in 2015. So. This doesn’t super work here? I get what he’s saying and it’s definitely true but the logic could have been better.

Eddie saying he’s straight. Yes, this can be thought of like the writers saying OKAY WE GET IT BUT NO. But I’m not so sure that’s what’s going on here? We will come back to this so put a pin in it for now.

Tommy breaking up with Buck BLINDSIDED me. It makes sense, in the long run. Tommy is afraid of Buck not loving him long term because he’s “the first” and the tears were wholly unexpected. But narratively, Buck has been the one that’s been broken up with. Left behind, so to say. Tommy is protecting himself (and that’s okay! I get it, weird choice but sure) but he’s hurting them both in the process. Put a pin in this as well.

Okay back to Eddie. The well/drainpipe didn’t go how anyone expected, but I think that’s for a reason. Has anyone else noticed we’re seeing Eddie’s Greatest Hits here? The couple fighting, the divorcing couple, the kid in the well, and next week the guy on hotshots stuck on the ladder like Buck after the lightning? The only things we skipped over were Shannon dying and the tsunami, and I really don’t think we’re going one for one here. But we’re bringing up a lot of his old traumas so maybe he’ll reflect on that???

Then we have the mustache shaving scene. Did ANYONE expect that? No? Good, me neither. I didn’t hate it? I liked the idea of an emotional thing, but I’ll take Ryan Guzman dancing to Old Time Rock and Roll in no pants. (Also going to answer the door like that? Slutty as hell, 10/10).

I did expect Buck to show up, because (remember the pin I told you to put in place? Here’s where the come up again), in the end it’s always going to Buck and Eddie choosing each other. Is it romantic? Idk maybe. I know I’d like it to be, but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter if it’s not. They’re each others ride or die, Eddie doesn’t question that Buck is there, he just takes the beer and shrugs because he has his back. They’re going to choose each other because it’s a safe space for both of them, someone who chose them. Eddie and Buck chose each other, neither of them have left like so many before, and they’re going to stick together and it always comes back to the two of them. Again, it might not end up romantic, but they’re still it for each other in a huge way. (I’m BEGGING for canon Buddie tho.)

I’m not convinced we’ve seen the last of Tommy, but then again maybe we have? Maybe he’s served a purpose in Buck’s narrative? Also to all of the bucktommy’s predicting it was Buck asking Tommy to move in….congratulations on being right and I’m sorry that’s how it went down. (Side note to anyone still reading that’s been in normal relationships, is six months too soon to move in? Especially because it doesn’t seem like they’ve said I love you’s yet? Please advise I’ve only been in unhinged relationships.)

Anyway all of this is a long winded way to say that I don’t think we can count Buddie out, as they’re each others safe space, but we’ll see as time goes on. I’ll settle for gay Eddie and a platonic shaped relationship between the two of them.

what do we owe each other? or rather, what do i owe you? i’ve been thinking about this a lot in the last few weeks, because the answer to that affects what i post and how i post it.

i wanted to post the haunting fic this month, maybe, but it’s a little heavier than my usual fare, and while that doesn’t bother me, the writer, i guess i just overthink the like. reality of being a fic writer in a niche/genre that is built on love stories, you know? is the haunting fic a love story? yeah. but i’m just… idk, i think i’m just kinda like ehhhhhh over the fact that maybe it’s not the love story we necessarily need right now, LOL. also it’s like, peak summer for me, which is very anti-haunting vibes, however, that might make it peak-posting time for our friends in non-southern-hemisphere countries? but then is that coming back around to like, the whole, “do i post a downer of a fic when my friends are emotionally vulnerable and at the mercy of seasonal depression?” LOL. but then that implies that i don’t trust you guys to know yourselves well enough to make the judgement call you need to……… LMAOOOO sorry guys, you’re getting all this dumped on you bc my friends aren’t TALKING TO MEEEE REEEEEE (but also this is like, a great sampler of what it’s like to be my friend so hey, maybe this is kinda like an audition?).

honestly this kind of overthinking is probably why it takes me so long to post anything LOL. i’m just kinda like uhh ehhh ahhh mmmm hmmm most of the time LOL. but anyways, part of me is just like, okay girl, you just gotta leave tumblr for the summer and go write the shouto fic LOL. but also that’s me lying to you, because i wouldn’t leave tumblr and i wouldn’t be working on the shouto fic LOL, what i really wanna do is the gravity falls fic. 🥹👉🏽👈🏽 and that’s for a couple of reasons: the hyperfixation is HOT at the moment, time to strike, etc etc, and also because i’ve decided that whenever i do post it, it needs to be already done in it’s entirety, so that it’s not dependant on like—you know!! the inherent motivation that comes with it being read by others. idk guys. 😩 i talk myself in circles about this. because like, okay—let’s say i manage to finish the wholeeee fic, and i post it, what does an apology present to our non-interested GF friends look like? LOL. like, do i write the GF fic, and then quickly follow that up with a chapter of the shouto fic, so there’s something for everyone? do i try and sandwich things? haunting one-shot, GF fic, shouto chapter? i know i KNOW “do what you want merms” i KNOWWW, the problem is that i. want to do everything. 🥹 and also it takes me time to deliver those things. 🥺 slowmaxxing, as our beloved starry likes to say. 🥹 but it means i kinda have to… choose wisely, right? because of the literal time we’re spending??? and then that brings me to a decision paralysis ig LOL. love life love creating i would not trade this for the world it’s fine it’s fun it’s fine.

Since I was asked my thoughts, this post might be all over the place; just walk with me. So boom, the ending was so good. I anticipated Tony to crash out, but not like that. Tony slapping Cameron shocked me, but her quick reflexives came in clutch. Idk if he’s dead, but I low-key don’t want him to for drama purposes. I was spoiled by some details about the show/book on tiktok. I know that Cameron gets together with Patrick, and I want to see a jealous dynamic between them (sorry, not sorry). But if Tony does die, or he survives, I hope nothing bad happens to her.

I wasn't expecting to like the dynamic of Rupert and Taggie, but I like how the show went about it. I think it's a perfect slow burn; the show did a good job of showcasing their yearning for one another. Having a good cast with great chemistry helped. Honestly, everyone had great chemistry. Personally, I'm rooting for Cameron and Declan. That man is so fine ☺️. I decided that I’m going to buy the book. Romance books don’t really do it for me, but I was geeked the whole time while watching the show. Hopefully, the books meet my expectations. I decided that I'd start with Rider because I wanted to know Rupert's background. Anyway, thanks for asking my thoughts about the show because I wasn’t expecting anyone to respond 💕.

I'm on the last episode of Rivals and I can't wait to see Tony crash out when he finds out about Cameron and Rupert.

| A/N; title based on the song by Lucy Dacus but the song itself is irrelevant to the plot lmao also pls don’t chew gum while you work out this is just Fiction <3

| CW; mostly just some good old bickering in a non-angsty way, Scott being Scott + the tiniest soft spot for you, I think that’s it 💆🏻‍♂️ I was going to make this smutty but it didn’t feel right and I didn’t want to force it so !

He was always there by the time you arrived, already sweaty and intense as you walked in.

“Jesus, Scott. You ever sleep?” You scoffed, setting your bag down and stretching your arms.

“Eight hours.” He barely looked up to talk to you, focused on the weights in front of him.

Of course. He was unintentionally irritating, the crisp, clean compression shirt he sported making the size of him just that much more unavoidable. You weren’t competing with him - you couldn’t if you wanted to, but he wasn’t a bad ‘gym buddy’, disregarding his grumpy attitude and refusal to actually call you that.

He never overstepped, he was quiet but reliable, giving you space and unenthusiastically spotting you whenever you asked.

You held your hand out towards him as he walked over and grabbed his bag, rolling his eyes at you before taking out a piece of gum.

“You get one. If you swallow it again that’s on you.” He said, the piece of gum still in his hand pointing at you as he spoke.

“Already cranky, I see.” You snatched the gum out of his hand, grinning at his less than pleased expression.

After a while you got a little overzealous with some weights, voice coming out shaky when you realized it was too much for you to lift all the way. “Shit- um, Scott?”

“What?” He didn’t look up at you when he replied. He didn’t usually have to, used to you asking him whatever questions popped up in your head during your workout, gym related or not.

“Can you come grab this for me?” He looked up then, disregarding his strict routine to jog over to you.

“Yeah. Fuck, why’d you add all this shit? You know that’s too much, right?” He lifted it back up for you, as soon as he was in front of you with his hands on his hips you knew you were in for one of his infamous lectures.

“I know now. I thought I could handle it-“ You tried to explain yourself, clearly falling short when he shook his head.

“Don’t be stupid. I won’t be able to workout if I’m too busy worrying about you breaking your neck. If you need help, just ask-“ He reprimanded, putting his hand up to stop you from interrupting him.

“Before it’s too much. That’s the only reason we’re here at the same time.” He always looked like someone’s dad when he got like this, aggressively chewing his gum with a disapproving look on his face.

“Yeah, yeah. You’re right, I’ll ask for help next time.” You muttered before standing up, motioning to walk off before he stopped you.

“Before-“ He moved to stand in front of you like some angry bouncer, waiting on you to finish his sentence.

“Before it’s too much. I know. Sorry.”

“Don’t be sorry, be smart.” That’s what he always said, you always apologized anyway.

You were done after that, uncomfortably dripping sweat from basically every part of your body, walking over to grab your water bottle as you met Scott on the bench. You sat down as he intently watched you trying to massage your leg.

“You hurt your leg, or what?”

“Just a cramp.” You sighed, laying down on the bench instead.

“Come here.” You propped yourself up on your elbows after he said it, confused expression on your face like he just said something insane.

“Don’t look at me like that. Just come here.” He motions for you to move closer to him with his hand, grabbing your leg and placing it in his lap when you were close enough. As soon as his hand moved to your leg you tensed up, unsure of what exactly what you were expecting but surprised nonetheless.

“What’s your problem? Christ just let me massage it out for you, don’t be a brat.” He complained, hands massaging over one of your legs when you relaxed.

“I’m not being a brat, you’re just not exactly the affectionate type.” You winced as he was particularly rougher right where it hurt.

“This isn’t affection, this is you not getting enough calcium and overworking yourself. That’s not on me.” He continued, moving to the other leg when he was pleased with your satiated breathing.

“You know I do this on purpose, right? I choose to do this, even if I’m a dick about it sometimes. I just want you to do it correctly, not get yourself hurt.”

“You’re a dick about it most of the time.” You corrected, sure you heard a light laugh out of him.

“But yeah, I know. Softy.” He rolled his eyes at the unusual nickname, tapping your leg to move it before he stood up.

“Hit the showers, you’re all sweaty.” He cracked his knuckles as he said it before walking away, ignoring your final remark.

“There he is.”

For me the ‘canon homoerotic subtext’ between brick!Valjean and Javert is really more about the parallels between Javert and Eponine, who are explicitly set up as character foils.

Brick!Javert isn’t obsessed with Valjean like he is in adaptations. He’s not psychosexually obsessed with hunting him down; he really doesn’t seem to think of him as being any different than any other criminal—- he doesn’t think about Jean Valjean much at all until after Jean Valjean saves his life.

But after the barricades, Javert’s sudden weird desperate emotions about Jean Valjean are like a twisted mirror of his character foil Eponine’s weird desperate emotions for Marius.

Some guy takes pity on them, and extends them a bit of basic impersonal kindness— and they react by descending into this violently self-destructive suicidal admiration built on self-loathing. They’re both described as making themselves the “dogs” of Marius/Valjean, the dogs of people who barely remember they exist.

And anyway! I think there is potential to explore things there in analysis and fanfiction
