Ok so I’m not a biologist but basically. Opossums are resistant to rabies because their body temp is too low for the virus to survive.

And I personally like the headcanon that Jason is like, a little bit zombie-like still, and runs colder than average, and so basically what I’m saying is rabies-resistant Jason Todd.

I think this has the potential to be very funny. Or angsty. Like Jason gets bit by a rabid raccoon or something and everything thinks he’s dying again in the worst way but he’s actually fine guys he’s built different.

Also the connection of opossums playing dead and Jason being undead etc that I’m too lazy to articulate right now but MOSTLY the rabies thing

Soap walked into Ghost's room after announcing his presence with, "knock knock ya grumpy bastard!"

Ghost didn't even look up from the paperwork he was doing, "hello Johnny."

"I know we won't be seeing each other over the holiday but I didn't want you to miss me too much-" this earned an eye roll from Ghost, "- so, I got you something."

That caught Ghost's attention as he looked up from his work and swiveled his chair to look at the other man, who currently had his hands behind his back.

"You know you didn't have to make me a bomb, and you really shouldn't have brought it to my room-“ Ghost began with a smirk that was hidden by his mask.

"Ack! It's nae a bomb L.T., you only get those for special occasions." Soap interrupted with a grin, before moving the gift into Ghost's field of view, "tada!"

Ghost blinked. He was face to face with two little black eyes and a pink nose on a white and gray, egg shaped body. It was a toy. A stuffed animal with round little ears and a tuft of hair between them, as well as a little pink tail.

"It's a rat?" Ghost said unsurely.

"No, it's an opossum." Soap said as he tossed the stuffed toy to Ghost and sat on the edge of the bed, "made me think of you with your mysterious air and eye make up."

Soap chuckled, poking fun at the larger man who was still staring at the creature he had caught from Soap. It was squishy and he imagined it'd be pretty soft, but he couldn't tell with his gloves on.

"It looks like you with that mohawk." Ghost said, finally looking back to Soap who was smiling at him.

"Maybe it's a good mix of both of us then,” he replied with a chuckle.

The toy was hardly bigger than both of his hands. Ghost brushed the puff of hair with his thumb.

"So,” Soap began, clearly still enjoying this little gift to Ghost, "what are you gonna name it?"

"Name it?" Ghost asked.

"Of course, all stuffies need a name!"

"Oh," Ghost thought for a moment, not being able to remember any names he might’ve given his toys as a child, “I don't know yet."

"Well,” Soap said with a grin as he stood, "you better have a name for it by the time I get back.”

"Yes sir." Ghost said with a smile he knew Soap could see in his eyes.

Before Soap left the room he said, with sincerity, "enjoy the holiday Simon."

Ghost surprised himself a little by replying with the same sincerity, "you too Johnny."

And with that Soap was gone for the next week, leaving Ghost to his paperwork and the opossum/rat "stuffie,” yet to be named.

Help me ahhh i can't stop thinking about what I'd do if i were in charge of a reboot of 6teen

For starters it would be more serialized, the original already had some of that and i don't wanna it to be so serialized you can't watch episodes out of order but we have streaming now so why not just have more mentions of previous episodes or foreshadowing future episodes

I'm mainly just thinking about Jonesy and how i could to not be the most hateable character, but i still want him to be a bit of a jerk to be honest but dear Lord I'm gonna give him a little chill pill like maybe he shouldn't be a literal criminal in multiple episodes, i wanna keep him being a selfish dick but maybe instead of flirting with literally all the women it's mostly just with his friends i kinda like the idea of him being demisexual idk i just like it, i also gave him more necklaces, mostly they mean nothing and he'd be happy letting another wear them, but one of his necklaces is his cremation necklace and is just really uncomfortable with the idea of others wearing it

i made jude trans, again i don't remember why i hc it but it's fun, so my design for him shows his binder under his tank top, i feel it would be mentioned but not a lot outside of a joke or two, i give him the more girly hands the women are given as a way to hint it and maybe older photos could show him with long hair or a dress. I also gave him a scarf which one thing i did add was maybe he'd like crochet/knitting and made the scarf himself (i also like to think nikki carries an opossum around that Jude made) he rollerstates everywhere even when he bumps into everything! I don't know what to headcanon his family like, they almost seem neglectful in the series as they're usually mentioned leaving jude alone at the house i feel but does that mean they're bad

Jen i feel she'd roughly stay the same, but maybe she'd be complaining a bit more about shit, i imagine she puts up with her job and school and stuff she hates because she knows it'll help her get what she wants but she doesn't care for it in private. Her parents are divorced like the original but i feel her dad isn't really explained in the original because jen remembers him as a good dad and some lines may reference him having died (omg what if he died by suicide, no I'm sorry not today) but it's never said that he's dead explicitly so it would make me wonder why in the original jen only lives with her mom, did he flee the area, was jen an unreliable narrator and he truly did something awful that warranted him not having custody, did her parents both choose to let Jen's mom have full custody for some reason? I don't know but in my version i like the idea of it being mention that she has to move between the houses (wait would she even have too, i know 16 is a bigger deal in Canada so would that give her the right to decide to not live with one of them?) but in my version of the show jens parents would have split costody of her and that would be mentioned

Nikki is a bit more nerdy i feel i made her, i like the idea of Chinese being her home language, and maybe she can also speak other languages outside of English and Chinese, i feel she'd speak Quebec French, Spanish and ASL to varying degrees of proficiency i could see her maybe considering being an interpreter as a career, she'd still be into protesting the same stuff she has before, she now has a half shaven head, one thing i don't necessarily care for with redesigns is just making her really emo but she's not really that in the original i mean sure it's alt but i don't see it as really emo. I feel like her and Wyatt talk about anime a lot. I feel she'd be fairly distant from her friends at the beginning of the series, like she's there with them they've known her most of their lives but it's not like she opens up to them about things and might seem unemphatic to them but overtime she tries to care about them and open up more maybe starting with them saying they're bi, which one is just like "wait you hadn't told us this before?"

Wyatt is also just nerdier, he draws, he sucks at it but he does draw, he obviously in a band, and so is jude, he just gets to do everything wyatt gets really obsessed with things he likes and will be upset if you don't like them, he also wears his headphones almost all the time, usually they're no music on though, i feel the music his band makes is just stuff that stimulates the ears it's just "hehe brain go brrrr" he's really into written art as well like fanfiction and poetry, i feel it would also be mentioned he takes care of younger siblings a lot as it's mentioned he's part of a big family in the series, i see him on the younger end of the family but still, idk maybe he could also have nieces and nephews

Caitlin also is into art, i feel she'd really be into the idea of fashion design but doesn't know how to make/modify clothing, she is the best drawer of the group, you can still very easily tell she's an only child, i liked the headcanon of her being homeschooled before joining the same school as the rest of the group, you could make an argument the first episode could imply it by saying "she didn't start until grade 10" but that also could mean she just went somewhere else, but i do think it would be fun if she didn't stop being friends with trisha despit being a bitch and the others keep trying to tell her to not hang with her but she "sees the good in her" i think it would be interesting to see it play out

I feel their parents would be mentioned more in the series, they might not show up but they are teenagers/young adults living under their parents roof so i feel it would make sense for it to be brought up more, like maybe the mention of a curfew or them complaining about something they're parents are doing or complain about rules they don't understand

It would be kinda cool to have a moment where both jen and jonesy bitch about their home lives and maybe complain that the marriage shouldn't even happen

On occasion. I'm not really into alcohol; there's a pretty short list of cocktails I like, for wine I only like Riesling, and even beer I've gotten "meh" on (I bought some Abita Strawberry the other day, and did they change the formula? Because ugh!)

So ironically, I have tattoos, but I want to cover them with new ones. I'd like a small cluster of hydrangea and honeysuckle blossoms (artists, hit a girl up!) to cover those. I also want to get the word "love" tattooed small on my body in both my mom's and my late dad's handwriting (thank goodness I still have birthday cards they gave me).

You know, as a teen I thought it sucked. Then I grew older and I felt it get better. Then they got older and things started to slip, and I got resentful and also realized that all the grownups are just pretending to have it all together when in reality NO ONE DOES. Now one of them is gone and I have to handle the estate, and the other I need to help caretake for, and all of it is SO complicated. I truly think this question has a different answer 10 years ago, 20 years ago, and might 10 years in the future.

Do you mean "ick" words like "moist" and "treat?" Those, for one. Certain slurs (you can't grow up in the South and not hear THAT slur from old folks... I cringe). Also, opening an envelope and reading "Notice of Policy Lapse" or "Failure to Receive Payment" (Remember #24? Yeah, that's some of what I had to deal with).

This used to be an easier question. I love Seattle, it's in a blue state and I really dig the climate, but lately it's been having heat waves, which I could tolerate IF y'all had air conditioning! Ugh, why are most of the blue states in cold areas? I like hot weather but apparently the heat must make people hateful because that's where all the red states are.

 one of my least favorite things about being in fowl communities, besides pretty much everything, is that people turn into parrots with no will to look into anything they are told. One person says a thing, and no one fact checks it, they all just pass it around until it reaches critical mass and trying to argue against it is like shooting a water gun at a brick wall.

Today’s firefight is, yet again, opossums. Someone dispatched on that was actively trying to kill his chickens, and half the comments are about how killing it wasn’t necessary (I’m sorry, if there is an animal actively killing my birds, there will be one winner in this fight and It’s Me) and how “good” opossums are- not because anyone making this argument thinks opossums are Good (I personally like them, just not in my bird pens), but because “opossums eat upwards of 5000 ticks a week.”

No the fuck they do not.

The incredibly bad science (that I hesitate to even CALL science because it was so poorly thought through) that concluded they eat this many ticks went like this: the scientists infested a bunch of opossums with a set number of ticks. They then counted the number of ticks that fell off into their collection bins over the course of the study. Then, without checking for live ticks on the opossums, they released the opossums, and assumed that any ticks that did not fall off must have been groomed off and eaten by the opossums. But they never fucking checked!!!

Anyway 24 OTHER studies that examined the contents of opossum stomachs for various reasons did not report any tick parts (more info in the link above). So like. idk where this is going. Opossums are cool but “opossums eat 5500+ larval ticks a week” factoid actually just statistical error, average opossum eats 0 ticks  per week. Ticks Georg, who lives in Virginia and got used in research, is an outlier and should have had his ticks counted.

About Me!

So I’ve been running this writing advice blog since 2016 (It seems like such a long time ago holy crap!!) and I realize that I haven’t made an an “About Me” page to go along with it! 

Sure, I have my tag #maddytalks and sometimes participate in tag games, but I haven’t done an About Me page before!

So....without further ado, hello everyone!!!!! 

I’m Maddy for short and I’m a recent college student from New York who’s currently double graduate with a BA in Anthropology and Art History. I enjoy reading and writing (obviously lmao), but I’m also a big fan of hiking, art, puzzles, history, video games, and listening to music! 

I’ve been writing since third grade, and finished my first novel in fifth grade (Though that’s been shelved since it was basically a glorified PJO fanfiction lmaoooo). My current WIP that I hope to get published is Wings of Faith, a young adult fantasy novel about a one-winged angel and his ragtag band of demon friends trying to break out of Hell!

Idk what else to say without rambling, so here are some lil’  random facts about me beneath the cut!

Where are you from?

I’m from New York, U.S., but both sides of my family moved here in the early 1900s from Italy and Sicily! My Italian heritage still plays a huge role in my life, especially when it comes to my commitment to family (and to good food!)

What made you get into writing?

My third grade teacher really liked the short stories I wrote in my little journal and encouraged me to take it up as a hobby, and had it not been for him, I probably wouldn’t be where I am today! My first published book will definitely be dedicated to him!

Any goals for the future?

My primary career goal is to become a museum curator! My bucket list also includes getting my book published and going to every one of the 62 major National Parks of the United States! (Nine down, fifty-three to go!)

Any pets?

Yes! I have a cat named Carly (after Carly from iCarly)! I used to have a bearded dragon named Gizmo, who passed at the ripe old age of 10! I’ve always wanted a dog, but I know in the end I’ll just be a cat lady for life.

Some things you’re not a fan of?

Math, ketchup, being cold, scary movies that are 90% jumpscares and no actual horror, artificial grape flavor

Up until recently I was a hardcore Blue enthusiast, but now I think my favorite color is Green!

My mom’s pasta with sauce. It’s a recipe that’s been passed down for generations!

I love elephants and orcas! I’m super drawn to their intelligence.

I really like My Cousin Vinny, but Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse is close up there, too.

Favorite Video Game?

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild! I logged over 100 hours on that game, did every single possible quest there was to do, and tried to find all nine hundred korok seeds but failed miserably. I LOVED exploring the huge open world, and literally cried when I finished it.

As the end credits rolled and the lights of the theater brightened to allow guests to leave, the sudden lack of theatrical music revealed another sound.

"Is that rain?" Virgil asked, leaning forward in his seat to look at the others.

Remus was already out of his seat and hurriedly making his way...up? the theatre steps, rather than heading for the exit. Roman didn't appear to be paying attention at all, seemingly trying to reach down the back of his shirt for something while Logan checked his phone for missed notifications. Janus gave Virgil a dry look. "No, that's not rain at all. It totally sounded like that before the movie started."

As if punctuating his words, a rumble of thunder shook the building.

Patton hopped to his feet and dug around in his drawstring bag for a bit before emerging with a collapsible, lime-green umbrella clasped in his hand. "I hope everyone came prepared! I wouldn't want the weather to dampen the mood!"

Virgil completely missed the pun, because he, in fact, did not come prepared and was already dreading getting his clothes soaked. Janus at least remarked, "I'm not sharing my umbrella."

"Nor am I," Logan agreed, standing up as he put his phone away. "I told everyone in the group text earlier today to bring adequate rain gear, so no one is going to be able to use the excuse that they 'didn't know'."

Virgil sighed as he stood with the others and they began shimmying down the aisle towards the stairs. "Yeah, well, I kinda ducked out of the group text after Remus started threatening spoilers for the movie."

Speaking of. "HEY! Hey, guys, look!"

Virgil already felt a wave of mortification sweeping over him as not only their group but everyone else still in the theatre turned towards the projection booth at the top of the stairs. Remus was using his hands to make shadow puppets of dicks in front of the light coming from the projector.

"Oh my god," Virgil choked out, suddenly wishing the ground would swallow him up. Janus and Logan both wore unimpressed looks as Patton chuckled nervously and called back up to Remus. "Hey kiddo, maybe come back down? We don't want the movie theatre employees to ban you again."

"Patton, stop acting like we know him!" Virgil hissed. "Everyone's looking at us!"

"Normally I'd relish the attention," Roman spoke up as he finally stood, still shifting his shirt and jacket in an odd fashion, "but I have to agree with the Dark Knight on this one, padre. I'd rather we all not get banned because of my brother."

"Glad to see the everlasting, unbreakable bond of blood between brothers is still as strong as ever," Janus said.

Logan pushed his glasses up on his nose, raising an eyebrow at the tamer twin. "Roman, what are you doing?"

Roman's reply was cut off as Remus made a mad, cackling dash back down the stairs through the last of the people leaving the theatre as employees appeared from behind the projection booth door.

"We should leave quickly," Logan said. He was checking his phone again. "I'm getting flash flood warnings for our area."

Virgil groaned. "As if Remy's driving wasn't bad enough."

They all shared a wince. No one carpooled with Virgil twice after riding with Remy in the driver seat.

The remaining five - since Remus was no longer in sight - began making their way down the stairs. Roman lagged behind after every few steps, still tugging at his shirt behind his back. After reaching the bottom and glancing back to see the twin still struggling on the stairs halfway up, Patton finally asked, "Do you need help, bud?"

Roman huffed frustratedly. "Remus kept putting candy down the back of my shirt during the movie. I got the Twizzlers out, but I'm pretty sure he also dropped some Reese's Pieces down my collar. I think they're stuck to my back from sitting between me and the seat cushion."

"Oh, so that's what he was doing," Janus said. "I was wondering why he was moving around so much."

"Aw, what a waste of candy," Patton pouted.

"Dude, just go in the bathroom and take your shirt off to check," Virgil said.

"Yes, please do that," Janus agreed, eyeing Roman warily all of a sudden. "If you're going to be riding in my car there will be no melted candy left behind in the seats."

Roman sighed but finally stopped pulling at his shirt and jacket to follow them the rest of the way out. As they neared the bathrooms, Logan asked, "Why didn't you just stop him from doing it?"

The twin scoffed. "Uh, have you met my brother? It's Remus, you can't tell him to do anything, and it would've been exactly what he wanted: me making a scene in a dark theater. Besides, I got some revenge by shoving SourPatch Kids down his shirt, too." The last bit was said with a bit of pride.

Janus groaned dramatically as Roman left them outside the bathrooms. "Great, two people littering candy in my car." He sighed as he made his way to the benches against the wall opposite of the bathrooms and sat down, pulling his yellow, faux snake skin-patterned backpack into his lap and opening it.

Patton took a seat beside Janus and Virgil sat on Patton's other side, slouching down with his hands shoved in his pockets. Virgil said, "I know for a fact that you helped Remus smuggle possums into the guys gym at school two months ago using your car to back up to the back entrance. Yet you're worried about a few pieces of candy?"

Janus rolled his eyes as he pulled off his left shoe. "First, there was never any proof that was even me, and secondly, I have a hatchback, Virgil, obviously any hypothetical opossums in cages would be stored in the back rather than on my leather seats."

"I was literally sitting beside you when Remus asked you to help and you said yes-" Virgil started to argue, but Patton cut him off quickly, desperate to avoid the argument that was sure to start. "Janus, you brought rainboots, too?"

The teen in question had pulled two shiny yellow rainboots out of his backpack and already had one on. "Of course I did. My regular shoes are too nice to get wet. Plus, these keep water from getting on the cuff of my pants."

Logan was looking at the garishly yellow backpack somewhat dubiously. "How did you even fit those in there? You snuck in all the drinks in that bag."

"Please, I'm a very efficient packer. Carrying five bottles of soda in just because you all are too cheap to buy from the concession here was child's play, even with my boots."

"I wore my boots, too!" Patton excitedly stuck his feet out, proudly showing off his cat-patterned rainboots. "Why didn't you wear yours in? They're so cute!"

"What if it hadn't rained?" Janus asked as he packed away the shoes he'd originally been wearing, now sporting his yellow rainboots. "I would've looked like a fool."

Logan said, "There was a ninety percent chance of rain."

"Still didn't want to risk it."

"Risk what?" Roman interrupted, finally leaving the bathroom.

Virgil stood up, looking at his phone. "Janus ruining his hypothetical reputation."

The hoodie-clad teen missed the impressive glare Janus shot his way. "Excuse you-"

"Guys, where's Remus?" Roman once again interrupted (to the relief of Patton and Logan).

"I think he's outside," Logan said, pulling out his collapsible, navy blue umbrella. "He's probably waiting on us."

He was right. Sort of. Outside the rain was pouring down hard enough that a mist was being swept under the overhang of the theatre by the wind. The parking lot was visibly flooded with only a few cars left in sight. They found Remus using a sharpie to draw on one of the encased movie posters placed outside the building. "You guys are slower than corpses. I've already drawn on Shia LaBeouf's movie poster over there and remade it into a masterpiece. Want to see?"

Everyone was thankfully saved from answering by Virgil's strangled noise of frustration. "Guys, I have a problem."

As Patton held a hand out for the sharpie (which Remus turned over with only a slight pout), he asked, "What's wrong, kiddo?"

"Remy just said he can't pick me up. He thinks the tread on his tires wouldn't stand up against this much rain and he's worried we'd hydroplane."

Well, what Remy actually said was this:

Sleepy bastard: hey V, sorry but I can't pick u up tonite. it's raining 2 hard *sad face emoji*

Virgil: seriously? how am I supposed to get home?

Sleepy bastard: gee, idk, ask ur friends? call an uber? hey, I'll even pay for it bc this is kinda my fault

Virgil: what

Sleepy bastard: I keep forgetting 2 go get new tires and I'm afraid the tread wouldn't get any good traction with it raining this bad. can you imagine getting out in this like that, with MY driving? *horrified face emoji* one of ur friends is some rich kid, right? i bet he can afford tires, probably the BEST tires *several dollar sign emojis*

Virgil: oh my god

Virgil: youre my cousin and youre literally leaving me out in the cold

Sleepy bastard: gee, babe, it's almost like that driver's test u refuse 2 take might actually be worth taking now, huh?

Sleepy bastard: ok srry that was a low blow. but rlly i think u should try 2 get a ride with ur friend. not kidding about my tires being shit. college is sucking my bank account dry and i don't want 2 add a car repair bill, or worse, a hospital bill

Sleepy bastard: cool cool, I'll leave the lights on for u. lmk if u decide to spend the night at a friends house instead

Virgil almost would've laughed at that if he wasn't currently wondering how he was going to get home, because spending the night at one of his friends' houses, unexpected and uninvited? Yeah, right, like he'd do that. He needed at least two days' notice in order to psych himself up into talking to anyone else's parents, let alone inviting himself to their house unexpectedly.

Thankfully, he didn't have any reservations about asking his friends for a ride. "I need a ride. Can I go with one of you guys?"

The rest of the group shared a glance. Janus spoke up. "Well, technically I was driving everyone home... Roman and Remus were dropped off and Logan rode with me here from school since we had a debate team meeting after school. Patton had a GSA club meeting after school so he rode with me, too. My car only holds five people."

Virgil felt the first stirrings of panic winding up in his chest - he's such an inconvenience, if only he could make himself take the stupid driving test without freezing up - only for the fear to die as Remus suddenly scoffed. "Of course you can fit more than five people in that fancy car of yours, Dee, you're just not trying hard enough."

"Remus, you're not riding on the roof of the car again. We saw what happened last time," Logan said in a somewhat exasperated tone.

Patton paled. "Again?"

Roman waved off the cat-loving teen, unfazed. "Trust me, you didn't miss much. They were going so fast I didn't even get a good video out of it."

Patton made a choking noise, looking increasingly more worried. "Guys-"

Remus giggled, slapping a hand down on Patton's shoulder. "Don't worry, Dad, I was so pumped full of adrenaline I didn't even feel anything when I landed."

"You're going to give him a stroke," Virgil muttered, eyeing the increasingly paler Patton warily.

"The point is..." Remus cut in, "if the back cargo space is good enough for my opossum friends, then it's good enough for me. Problem solved."

"Hypothetical opossum friends," Janus hurriedly corrected. "But sure, we can try it."

"Cool, great, quick question though-" Roman said, staring out at the flooding parking lot. "Why the hell did you park so far away?"

All eyes turned to squint out through the virtual monsoon that was coming down. At the farthest end of the darkened lot sat golden Chevy Bolt, illuminated by the weak beam of a parking lot light pole.

"So people wouldn't park near me and risk scratching my car, obviously," Janus said, completely unbothered by the fact that his car was at least a good fifty yards away. "Unlike some people, I brought an umbrella and appropriate footwear. I can just pull back around and pick you all up so you don't drip in my car."

Completely disregarding his words, Remus suddenly shouted, "First loser to the car gets shotgun!", before taking off headlong into the pouring rain. Not to be outdone by his brother, Roman cursed before running after him, yelling, "NOT FAIR!"

The remaining four watched with varying reactions of dismay, amusement, and confusion.

"...Wouldn't the loser be the last one to the car? And I thought Remus was going to ride in the back...?" Logan asked.

Janus hummed. "He is. I'm pretty sure he just wanted to get wet."

Virgil once again regretted his life choices, looking down at his worn-out converses and tattered jeans. "This is gonna suck so bad. I'm going to be soaked the second I step out there."

"I don't know," Patton said with a smile, still watching Remus and Roman chase each other in the rain. "It looks kinda fun to me."

"Oh, please," Janus started, shooting a wide-eyed look at Patton, "don't tell me you're actually thinking about-"

The glasses-wearing teen shot Janus a bright smile. "Pleeeeease?"

The blonde teen stared hard at Patton, trying to resist. After a few moments, Janus finally crumbled with a put-out sigh and roll of his mismatched eyes. "Fine, go for it. Seems like everyone is out to ruin my car's interior tonight, you might as well join in."

With a gasp of delight, Patton leaped forward and put his arms around the shorter teen, exclaiming, "Thanks, Janus!"

Looking a bit like an indignant cat that didn't want to be held, Janus awkwardly patted his back. "Sure. Whatever."

Virgil was snickering to himself at the look on Janus' face, only to be startled out of it by Patton shoving his collapsible umbrella into his hands. "Here, Virge, you can have my umbrella since I won't be using it now!"

Then the cat-loving teen was laughing as he dashed out into the rain, ignoring Logan's call of, "Be careful!"

The last three friends watched as the others gleefully ran about the parking lot. Roman reached the car before his brother, but Remus just jumped on his twins' back and held on, making Roman shriek indignantly and stagger as he tried to adjust to the new weight. Patton was finding the deepest puddles of the parking lot and jumping in each one with giant splashes, his laughter echoing across the parking lot even in the rain.

Janus sighed once again and pulled out his umbrella. "Well, I suppose it was about time I had my car detailed anyways."

As Logan opened his own navy umbrella, he said, "I suggest we walk at a slower pace than the others to the car. Not only could we slip if we ran, but running in the rain causes you to get even wetter than if you walk because more droplets are hitting you as you increase speed."

Virgil hummed, taking note for the next time he had to go between classes when it was raining and opened the bright green umbrella Patton had lent to him. It popped open to reveal two eyes and a mouth resembling a frog's face on the green fabric. Cute, he thought to himself (but didn't dare say out loud; he had an aesthetic to maintain). Mumbling, he shot a "thanksforlettingmeridewithyou" in Janus' direction.

The blonde teen's mismatched eyes lit up and he grinned. "What was that, Virgil? I don't think I heard you. Speak up a little bit."

The hoodie-clad teen huffed. "You heard me, I'm not saying it again."

"Hm, rude."

All three of them stepped out into the downpour and began making their way through the flooded areas of the parking lot. Virgil's shoes were soaked in virtually seconds, but at least his hair and eyeshadow was dry. Patton had nearly made it to the car at this point as Remus chased Roman around the vehicle, going in circles while shouting at each other.

Janus twirled the keys in his hand but made no move to unlock the doors until he was standing at the driver's side door. Patton moved to get in the door behind the driver's seat. He was soaked to the bone and grinning as Virgil came to stand next to him and shared the umbrella with him (even though it wouldn't do much good at that point). Roman, thinking Janus was about to unlock the door, stopped running to stand and wait at the passenger seat door. "HA! I call shotgun."

Stopping turned out to be a mistake. Remus, still thoroughly engrossed in the chase, tackled his brother right into the wet asphalt with a triumphant cry. Logan deftly stepped in to take Roman's former spot and it was only then that Janus unlocked the car.

Everyone sans Roman and Remus quickly piled into the luxury hatchback that no high schooler had any right to be driving. As Janus cranked up the heat to full blast, a soaking wet Roman swung open the door to the backseat and dove into the last open spot behind Logan, grumbling. "Seriously, Remus, why? You just succeeded in getting us both completely wet. This jacket is probably ruined now, thanks to you."

Remus, who was already crawling into the cargo space behind the back seats via the back hatch, blew a raspberry. "Just get it dry-cleaned, you baby. Besides, some of us like getting wet, if you know what I mean." The comment was collectively ignored.

"I can already tell there's going to be scuff marks from the pavement," Roman said as he examined the fabric. "I hope those Sour Patch Kids I put down your shirt melted to your clothes when you got us both wet."

"Oh, I already ate those."

There were more than a few disgusted faces in the car at that particular statement. Roman looked horrified. "That's so disgusting- How are we even related?"

A question everyone had heard numerous times...

"The car isn't moving till everyone is wearing their seatbelt," Janus stated, sternly eyeing the backseat passengers in the rearview mirror. He and Logan were both already buckled.

Virgil scooted over a bit for Patton, who had taken the middle seat between Virgil and Roman, to reach his buckle. "But Remus doesn't have a seatbelt."

"Remus doesn't count," Janus said.

"Yeah, emo," Remus leaned forward to poke Virgil in the neck. "God herself couldn't kill me."

Virgil gave a full-body shudder at the poke - Remus' fingers were freezing - and leaned forward to get away from the offending hand. "I swear to god, Rem, if you keep that up-"

Patton paused in trying to wipe away at the water obscuring his glasses and turned in his seat, squinting. "Now kiddos, play nice-"

Roman snorted. "I don't think my brother even knows how to 'play nice'."

Remus jabbed freezing fingers into Roman's unprotected neck in gleeful retaliation.

Tuning out the less mature back seat passengers and setting the windshield wipers at full blast, Janus shifted into drive and began to slowly pull out of the nearly empty parking lot. Logan studied him out of the corner of his eye for a few moments before saying, "I would think you'd be more upset at the amount of water we tracked into your car, Remus and Roman especially."

Janus shot Logan a mischievous grin as he drummed his fingers on the steering wheel. "Oh, I'm sure I'll find a way to collect on this favor with each of you at a later date."

"Of course you would," Logan sighed, already dreading the implications.

The blonde teen simply snickered, finally pulling out onto the road to begin the ordeal of dropping everyone off at their respective homes.

9. Can you swim? 🐡

I'm not sure, probably not really. I don't like swimming in general (because of the swimsuits), and I also always used to get panicky if I didn't feel the bottom of the lake/swimming pool under my feet so I always preferred staying close to the shore or walls etc. where I could grab on just anything or stand up. But I remember we went to the indoors swimming... pool place (UIMAHALLI mitä se on enkuks) often when I was younger, and I really liked diving. I always kept saying I can't swim, so I would just dive to everywhere and never swam.

About today - I honestly don't know. I don't think I can swim, because I'm always so terrified of running out of energy. So even if I was able to swim in theory, I don't know for how long I'd be able to keep going. Even if they say that every human can also float but, idk. I just don't like water nor beaches. Too hot and wet and swimsuits are awful.

10. Cute movie 🎥

Oh gosh, what is a cute movie even... I don't really watch cute movies? And most of my favorite kids' films are also kinda dark, such as The Lion King or Land Before Time. In a way Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron could also be considered cute but it ALSO is actually rather dark than just cute...

Okay. For some reason my mind wants to answer now: Over The Hedge. I have seen this movie only once and probably over 10 years ago, but the reason why my mind is thinking about this might be the squirrel Hammy. He's super cute and has ADHD so he's very hyperactive and also funny (and relatable too I guess). I can only remember the scene where he drinks an energy drink and the time "stops" because he can now move faster than light basically. But yeah, it's a very "basic" DreamWorks animation about a group of friends who are slightly anthropomorphic animals. Should probably rewatch that. (It also has opossums in that, and you like opossums, right? :D)

22. Favorite fastfood restaurant 🍗

I think it's gotta be a pizzeria. That's the fast food I eat most often (which is not that often), and the next in line is probably Subway. But yeah, not going to name any pizzerias for privacy reasons, but there are several good ones in my city, but two of them are great (or one of the is not even a pizzeria but a buffet restaurant which also serves pizza and kebab etc). From the other one (same as in the brackets) you can also get deep-pan pizza, and I LOVE deep-pan pizza but there's only like 2 places in my city where you can order that, and the other one always closes at like. 3pm or something which is so weird. I'm barely even awake at 3pm.

I also really love Frnds&Brgrs, but unfortunately they don't have restaurants anywhere near my city. I've visited this once in Helsinki (the one near the train station, I really recommend this cos it was SO GOOOOOOD). And the other one I visited at... I think Espoo this summer, but the burger was not as good as the one I had in Helsinki a few years earlier. It could have been just what I ordered, but the fried onion there inside the burger was just so spicy I had to remove it from the burger, and I didn't realize it would even come with that. Generally I do love onion and use it all the time in my own cooking, but for some reason it was just so spicy I could not taste anything but that burning sensation.

May 9th, 2022 Part 2

So basically tumblr is being mean and glitched on me 2 times and erased what I had said. So basically recapping everything again, we watched a ted talk and it was loud so I covered my ears but felt disrespectful. Then Hyena was talking about the Scythe series and it bores me so I feel bad for not being interested. He is also rereading it an annotating again. Then I explained how I feel like a liar about my mental health issues because they are similar to my friends. It's a whole thing. Anyways in English with Mrs. O she was picking on MB. So we took a test and I didn't really remember anything and I was kind of pissed. I really wish that I had a 504 or an IEP. I also realized that I tend to take things out on myself physically. Me hitting my arms and scratching my arms and neck could probably be considered self harm but I don't know because to me they aren't. I only see self harm to myself as cutting. Anyways that wasn't fun. Also my tumblr keeps glitching kind of. Not fully sure what's happening there. Also 2 more class periods and I get to go home and eat and relax. I need to get my algebra homework done and my spanish. Then if I have enough drive work on missing carrers and biology. So currently in Spanish I think I am very under stimulated. I feel empty but kinda heavy. Depressed you could say? Not sure there isn't enough of anything really and it sucks. I don't know what to do about it but this assignment is boring. I also don't know when it is due. I hate when teachers don't update their Skyward until right before grades are due because then I can't quantify what I am not doing good in and missing. This is one of the classes. Although I can't blame Mr. L he is brand new and got her in the middle of the year from Mexico. Idk. Ok update I started it but the website is too much stimuli and I can't view a simplified version because my school has blocked almost every extension I think I will email something to the principle about it. So I didn't email the principle but I have a draft. So my friends and I got to sit by each other during CATs which I don't have the energy to explain. So first Hyena drew a shape, then Opossum, and finally Penguin. I made stupid characters and it was seritone boost. Then I had Tem Shop stuck in my head and I forgot how much it makes brain go brr but yeah I had it on loop for a few seconds but then it faded at the end. 0/10 did not like. I don't have much for now but I am riding home and my dad won't be there :) I think I will make jasmine rice. I like it a lot. I am pretty sure rice is a major comfort food. Also there is a song I like but I really don't know what the lyrics mean like yeah it's in english but I don't understand but nice beats. So I got home I did indeed make and consume my jasmine rice. It's not the best because it's not my usual brand. Then so we got an pilated woodpecker and he's big! We also have two! Then my dad pointed out to me that the DNR plane flying low and circling just beyond the woods at my house. That was certainly interesting because we never see the plane. We suspect that there is a fire judging by the ash in the air and the smell. Yeah you can smell that and the rain. Can't really explain it. There are also a lot of Orioles here today and they love to go to the hummingbird feeder when there is one just for them smh. Also so I have a strawberry plant and it's doing very good! I am incredibly happy about it! So turns out no fire I think not sure what happened. Anyways I just played Stardew Valley for quite a bit of time. Now I kind of have the motivation to due homework so yay. Spoiler alert I did 2 problems and stopped but I have now gone to bed so yeah. Also I put out a jar to collect rain water :)

hi hey hello, I'll try my best to answer these for the good ol' Ohio Worms!!

for the worms sidecord, I'd say its kinda more of a vibes type of thing? while there are often lore and strat stuff, a lot of major stuff actually applicable to the game is kept to the maincord, and sidecord discussions for strats and lore and such are usually summed up in maincord if it's something important. but overall, the sidecord is more treated as a fun place to just chat with the strats being more of a side thing rather than the focus. we have game nights and Minecraft server! lorejams ARE typically held in the sidecord, but once again a lot of lore discussions are in maincord + any big discussions will usually be relayed to maincord if they happen in the sidecord. also, the maincord channels are generally going to stay really dead during any sort of off-season, but during on-season there's often more people in the maincord channels than in the sidecord.

2. honestly it's been a bit touch and go for bit! we're still trying to find a good way to hold lore jams, but unless it's changed recently the current method for doing lore for new players is to have a soft ban on lore discussions on a new player for a few days, and then on the lorejam day the ban is lifted and people discuss their ideas and bounce concepts around. by the end of it, usually there's a general agreed upon vibe for a player, but a lot of the details are left up in the air. the older the player, the more likely there's going to be one mostly-accepted interpretation (for example, scratch deleuze being an opossum). for newer players, it's much more common for there to be a lot of different interpretations of a character from person to person

3. oh MAN it really depends on the season!! the main thing is that we are either all in on winning or all in on losing. sometimes the hardest decision on a worms election is deciding whether we want to go up or go down. worms are very big on planning for the long term (and, as is usually the case, trying our best to get something good out of a bad situation. worms have historically had absolutely rotten luck in elections) it can get kind of stat heavy when elections are discussed, but based on my experience there's usually plenty of people available and willing to try to explain things and answer questions about that kind of stuff. idk if I'm explaining it very well but it's like. you can engage with the more technical and statistical parts of the game, but you really don't have to in order to participate!

one thing that I should mention pertaining to elections specifically is that there tends to be... a lot of division on what people want to vote on/do for the team. there's been a lot of times going into elections where the general guide is pretty loose just because we couldn't get people agree on what to vote for. the removal of wills was the best thing to happen to the worms tbh we had SO many problems with wills. because of our commonly split voters we've been really vulnerable to wimdys, or even just singular fans with a lot of votes. tbh I think it's always WAY easier for worms to come to a consensus with shiny votes instead of spiky ones (like gatecrashing, getting the cluttered mod, going towards horizon, and ohio peanuts were things that just kind of happened. worms fans are like forces of nature sometimes when it comes to shiny voting). also, for some reason, boosting defense? we ALWAYS love to boost that defense. its a good stat we SWEAR. everyone who says defense doesn't matter is a liar and a SCOUNDREL

generally tho, I'd say worms are overall going for worms good, eventually. and if we have to have a season or two of worms bad to get that sweet sweet bottom dweller boost, then so be it. but a worms worst nightmare? middling.

4. worms LOVE dirt. and space. and worms. if you go into a specifically worms channel you're going to see a TON of "g'dirt" "feeling loamy today" "all writhe" "two hearts no brain can't lose" "worm me to the moon let me writhe among the stars let's see what the dirt is like on jupiter and mars" and things like that. you don't have to specifically love bugs or worms or anything; fun fact, the worms are the only blaseball team where pics of the irl mascot has to be put under a spoiler on maincord (and NO lovers do not count!! you can post people holding hands and such!!!), and the sidecord has a bug quarantine channel so people who don't want to see bugs or worms and such don't have to see them if they don't want to c: but yeah like, we worms LOVE our theming. we love our theming so much that the team pretty much changed ALL of our silly sayings and such when we were briefly the Ohio peanuts (my personal favorite being the temp switch from g'dirt to l'gume)

in summary, I'd say the Ohio Worms are a fun not-so-little team where we're still trying to find our place in this big blaseball world....

things i want to know about blaseball teams thats hard to find out without going team to team sounding like an interrogator

1. how reliant is the team on a sidecord? is the sidecord for games or for vibes? do you have to be in the sidecord to understand shit about the team and participate in lorejams? (ex: fridays has fricord but it seems that most things blaseball related go in maincord)

2. how does lore jams look/work on the team? (tigers has a flowchart pinned on maincord, thank you tigers)

3. does the team care about winning? in elections are things chosen for stats or vibes or for the bit? (ex: one of the reasons i left mechs was because they seemed very stats heavy and it was intimidating as a newbie, this might be a dumb question tho since ive not been in another team other than for short circuits where fridays went for vibes)

4. whats the teams theme/aesthetic? (ex: lovers has a theme of love and a medieval aesthetic), how much are these themes/aesthetic pushed for? (ex: would an aro person be alienated on the lovers? are the spies fans actually allowed to talk about their team??? ive not heard Anything about the spies i realise)

like i dont particularly care about lore, i can learn about past lore if i want to, i care about how it will be to actually engage with a team and even with some teams like the fridays and lovers having slides for new members its usually about the usual stuff of “be nice to others” “we dont really care if we win or lose” etc and current/former player lore instead of what can be expected in areas like sidecord or lorejams that is a major part of the blaseball experiance

if you or a loved one has any answers to these questions for literally Any team i would like to eat them, please educate me, i am starving

personal update.

yesterday I drove up to the nor-cal area where I'm going to be visiting for the next week or so. The 9 hour drive went well except for once when I took like, 3 wrong turns in a row, and had to spend an hour going through neighborhoods and backtracking.

I got to my destination about halfway through the trans-youth-group-meeting that I used to go to, where I was planning on meeting some friends. I was able to talk to the group about the scary thing that happened to me with the abusive ex-friend, and that was nice. I went with some of these folks to a pizza place afterward because I didn't have dinner or anywhere to go really. I don't eat cheese so I just asked everyone if I could have their crusts if they don't want them. One of the ppl that went to the meeting spoke very little english. I don't want to out them, so I'll just call them David. I don't know very much spanish, either, but I knew a little, and David knew a little english. I was real nervous at first because I am usually so anxious at interacting with ppl. Soon though, after us having a hard time understanding eachother, i used my phone to let us use a translation app (not perfect translations, but it was good enough).

Another enby friend at the table was drawing birds and opossums, and at this I gained so much confidence, knowing that there was someone as enthusiastic about these animals and who was similar to me in many ways. And so I asked David what his favorite bird was, and I told him about how I fed some birds some pumpkin seeds on my drive up here today, and we talked for the rest of the meetup - writing and waiting for messages.

Anyway, eventually, He gave me his number (!!!) so that we can still be friends. (he was sad because I wouldn't be at the next meeting because I'm leaving town). And I'm sad too because I love writing and laughing with ppl who can laugh with me like we did. Idk Idk.

Anyway anyway - Thismorning he sort of I think asked me out? (there's some translation uncertainty), And I'd be excited, but I'm conflicteddddd. First off: I've gotta ask how old he is, because if he's under like, 21, then I'd only feel ok hanging out in a group setting. And Secondly: I'm hesitant about getting connected to a guy? like, I really like that he doesn't have the machismo like my last roommate had. And I mean I didn't explicitly ask how they identify actually, so I guess I should use they/them pronouns? But they said they were gay? but Idk if they maybe just weren't being specific? Ughghghghhghghghghghgh. And like, being a dyke is part of me and ~I~ ~don't~~know~ how to ~navigate~ this ~situation~~~~~~

Anyway though. I slept in the back of my car last night. I woke up once to put on another jacket and more blankets, and I didn't sleep really well because I couldn't stretch out my legs. I was lucky to find a parking spot in a little dirt parking lot near a little field, because it was out of the main street lights, but not too isolated.

I woke up at about 7:30 I think, and I went to a local uni to get changed and microwave my potatoes for breakfast. I fucking hate this uni so much though. It's where I went to study, but it's the fucking worst. One of the shitty things about it is that there are Literally ZERO public parking spots anywhere on campus, and the closest free parkable sidewalk is like, a half mile away from the campus edge. So i used one of like, 20, 20 min parking spots for this pos 10k student school.

Aaaanyway. I'm at the city library now. I need to eat lunch soon, and then I'm going to the doctor for a follow up. Then I just gotta figure out a better place to park/sleep. Tomorrow I'm going to Sacramento to see another friend.
