i actually think it's really weird that people (like davrin esp) are so upset that lucanis is an assassin. like he wasn't hired to kill US you guys, we're fine. that's kinda the point of assassins, they only kill who they're paid to kill. it feels like they wanted him to mirror zevran a little bit but like zevran it makes sense b/c he was literally hired to kill the HoF and Squad. So it's pretty reasonable for your squad to be like "this guy? you're gonna let this guy near our food? you're going to SLEEP WITH THIS GUY? THIS GUY WHO JUST TRIED TO KILL US!??" since zevran did in fact, very recently, try to kill you.

Lucanis, you just broke out of prison and "hired". He's not going to murder you (on purpose), you're ostensibly his client. That would be exceptionally bad manners and also bad for business. Lucanis is a Professional and a Gentleman, at the end of the day. i do get harding and davrin being leery that he's possessed and spite might kill you just for funsies. but some of the dialogue you get from davrin esp, you get the vibes that he's much more upset to be working with an assassin than a demon possessed person. which is kind of a weird thing for a dragon age squad member to be upset about, since you regularly kill lots of people/monsters for no money/minimal money. i wish we got to call them out on it a little bit (or had a squad member who could), the way varric does with anders in da2 when anders gets upset about almost killing someone and varric's like, "dude we killed so many people before breakfast this morning and you didn't even blink, miss with me with this shit"

also also I know everyone likes to talk about how good of an archon Venti is because he left mondstadt to do its own thing and hey look Zhongli's doing the same now with his retirement but I also like how the story shows it isn't without flaws, with so much freedom in the city it's all too easy to take control with power, Mondstadt's people may be free but they also don't have a god to actually uphold the ideal they stand for and how personal freedoms conflict, discrimination(eg. against Eula and her clan) is allowed because the people are free to do whatever they want, the fatui really wormed their way into mondstadt during the webtoon + nearly did with Davalin bc the people of mondstadt do whatever they want so Jean is overworked and the knights are ineffective(according to Diluc), and how mondstadt might have been the least free place for the common people during the Lawrences rule despite being the region governed by the archon of freedom

Zhongli at least first tested his people were ready before retiring, Venti kinda acended, organized a bunch of celebrations for his people, then left them to have fun with their newfound freedom only interveining when things get really bad

I don't want to give EVERYTHING way 🤭so these are a bit short. I'm also not super familiar with Alice yet, so her's are a bit more superficial. Added Andrew!

Norton

-HAS to be with someone who respects his alone-time. He does better with someone who’s overall not that clingy, but at the very least you need to be able to let him go when he says he needs space. When he asks for that, it’s largely because he’s nervous about hurting you when he’s not fully in control of his emotions.

-He can’t be with someone rich. If he was, there’s a very good chance he doesn’t have genuine feelings for them. There is a small exception to this in the manor, because it’s something of an equalizer and money doesn’t help anyone here. But outside? Norton (Aus excluded) is always going to be a frugal thrift-er, and he’d be easily annoyed by someone who blows their money like it grows on trees.

-He does better with fellow introverts too. He can do group stuff sometimes, but he prefers intimate, not-noisy environments. He’s spent most of his life alone so big events, public activities, and big social groups just feel foreign to him.

Naib

-The main thing for Naib is you not being a nosey nancy. Especially outside of the manor, he needs a partner who isn’t going to ask questions about what he does for work. He brings home the bacon and that’s got to be enough for you.

-It’s also better for him to be with someone who doesn’t mind his paranoid protectiveness. As much as he wants you to stay out of his business, he wants to be IN yours. Not to be controlling, but so he’s always prepared to come running if something happens. He can live without this trait in a partner, but it will be a constant point of tension if you don’t like it.

-Otherwise, Naib can get along with just about anyone who treats him decently. He sees the appeal in several personality types.

Eli

-Eli also works with many different types of people! He’s a very patient and calm man who makes and effort to understand everyone’s actions and opinions. The only people I straight-up can’t see him being with are those who intentionally try to bring out negative emotions as tests or pranks. He enjoys some light teasing, but if you try to rile him up or make him jealous, he’s just going to disengage from you because that’s blatantly unkind. He wants to foster good-vibes only with his partner.

-He does very much like skinship, though, so it’s best if his partner likes both giving and receiving Physical Touch as a love language.

-He’s a lot more likely to be sweet on someone who’s kind and generous. And he’s very intuitive, so he knows when this is genuine…if you’re faking it to manipulate/get in his good graces.

Alice

-As a journalist, she needs a partner who can keep their mouth shut. Like, you’re more than welcome to gossip TO HER. But she literally pays her bills by being nosey, and exclusivity of information is part of that. So don’t share things you learn from her…but DO share things you learn from others with her.

-She’s brave to a fault. Like Alice sometimes genuinely does not sense danger sometimes, so she would appreciate a partner who looks out for her when she can’t do it herself.

Andrew

-You have to be open-minded and nonjudgemental. He’s been treated poorly most of his life because of how he looks, and if he sees you treating other people with similar backstories well, his opinion of you skyrockets. (even though he won’t make it known for some time.) If you gossip to him about other people’s superficial stuff, kiss your relationship goodbye.

-Does best with someone patient and intuitive. He’s defensive and has an attitude, sometimes even without meaning to. He requires a lot of grace as far as overlooking the shit he says. His verbal communication will improve with time, and he will apologize for any slipups as his trust in you grows, but you have to be able to wait out the road bumps first.

-He also does better with a fellow introvert than an extrovert. For friendships, it doesn’t matter, but for a romantic partner he has more insecurities and concerns about you leaving him for someone else. If you like to spend a lot of time with other people, like being the center of attention, or feed on other’s approval, Andrew will have a harder time reigning in those thoughts that he’s not important to you.

I've already done a desk setup previously, but I've cleaned up, and I feel like it needs a repost (not much has changed tbh, only the drawer lol)

First up, my laptop nook! I have my laptop propped up on a stand, whiteboard from @studaxy, some blue posters and my cute blue mouse.

Some more posters in the wall to my left! Most of them are handmade, because I love putting up stuff that I created on my walls :) Random sticky notes with info, and also a quote from @guz013 that I really loved.

The stationery corner of my desk! Color pens, highlighters, sticky notes, paperclips, the whole deal. Storage box from @studaxy (you really know how to spoil me huh)

My drawer where all the extra things go :) It has my journal, the stickers that I put on my wall, some extra stationery, etc etc. Also an extra pair of compression gloves because you never know!

That's all :) I really like my desk setup because it has everything that I need on a daily basis in an accessible manner that works for me. And as you can see, most of the items are blue, which is my favourite color :D

And oooh, tbh I always thought Killer never got to celebrate his due to his circumstances, therefore he never truly formed much attachment to the concept of celebrating it

And when he used to live in an environment where he wasn’t even sure he’ll make it to the next year, he quickly realized there’s no point to them

Not only that, but with how his life had gone, when is his birthday? He can’t really say his birthday is the same as “Sans” he is no longer him, when was he really born, when had his soul deformed from its white upside down heart to its signature red target, that was his rebirth, but it’s hard to tell when it happened when he was choking and barely clinging to consciousness as he took in the smell of the golden flowers underneath him

I feel like this definitely would carry over to the time after he’s saved, he sees no true point to it, he no longer has a concept of when his birthday is or why he should care to celebrate it even if he knew when it was, not when he doubts he’ll survive to the next year

I don’t think Color would force his own ideals onto Killer or force him to try and celebrate his birthday if Killer refuses, but I feel like he’d make sure Killer knows the door is open if he ever changes his mind, I like to think instead of a traditional birthday, Color just chose to celebrate Killer’s life as much as he can, not necessarily once a year

As to how specifically, I like to think they do it in various ways, they celebrate by going to a place they always wanted to go, by gifts, by simply spending time with each other for the whole day, etc

Killer deserves to celebrate life in all the beautiful various ways he could when all he knew before was death

I think it'd be Hotarubi because, despite him not being necessarily artistic, he can be left in peace as much as possible. I highly doubt Subaru or Haku would be nagging him to do stuff. The environment in Hotarubi might annoy him though, since it's lakes everywhere 🤔

I feel like, even though Mortkranken has loners, he would probably be peer pressured into working and researching a lot and that is definitely a no no for him kffjdkdhhs ESPECIALLY because he's squeamish

Anton is spontaneous and kinda just goes after whatever he likes or is feeling at the moment so I don’t think being with someone foreign would be an issue at all tbh as long as you can have an actual in depth convo with him, ambition and you’re his type atm all is well 😭

Sohee probably finds foreigners attractive but kinda just doesn’t approach them unless they approach him, however he hates feeling limited in expression (sag mercury) so the person would have to be fluent in korean probably.

Seunghan has a libra venus and libra venuses tend to gravitate to people they just borderline find attractive or aesthetically pleasing so if he finds you good looking he finds you good looking no if ands or buts about it and the pisces mars gives him less visual boundaries

Wonbin wouldn’t be against it but he’d be hesitant bc of the whole “he wants a genderbent him” mentality he kinda has and would have a hard time going after someone outside of his comfort zone but he wouldn’t be against it if it came naturally/easily.

Shotaro would but only if they check every single box possible for him regarding his ideal type and what he likes visually/physically. Also he might be hesitant and even paranoid about it since he’s kinda traditional 😭 .

Eunseok and Sungchan would be apprehensive, Sungchan cares a lot about how he’s perceived and viewed so being in an unconventional relationship kind of shivers his timbers and the effort it takes for a relationship between people with different backgrounds would probably overwhelm him. Eunseok probably finds foreigners attractive considering his sag mars but I think the committing effort of adapting to them would be what scares him away.

On the matter of having a roommate I'm pretty sure I'm a minority here but I wouldn't mind sharing a room with Rook.

Like, for the most commonly remembered bad sides of rooming with Rook I don't wouldn't being watched while I sleep nor the chaotic environment created by his incredible amount of merch, as long as he doesn't put his stuff on my side of the room I'm fine with it. Also despite what many other people believe I don't think he'd go through my stuff without me knowing (even if he did I wouldn't really mind tbh) so...

There's also the good points like he seems pretty neat/tidy and silent, which are the two things that I value the most in someone I'm going to share a house with and he's just the type of extrovert I need, because he wouldn't mind how awkward I am. He could both monologue to me when I don't feel like talking and listen to me when I have something I'm enthusiastic about.

I also can't explain this but I feel like I would never need to worry about losing my things or forgetting something at my dorm if I git him to like me enough so yeah, Rook would be the ideal roommate for me, I don't mind his freak

re: delivering a baby, unlike the plane landing thing most people actually have a chance of being able to do this, not because it's easy but because the person actually giving birth is really doing most of the work here. TBH the biggest issues we get with BBAs are the fact that people get this idea that they need to be 'doing something' when, if someone's labour is progressing so quickly that there isn't time to get to a hospital/planned birthplace, the bus is basically driving itself at that point, and the best thing you can do is just try to get them to the safest, cleanest space available and stay with them. You don't need to like, put your hands up there (all you will do is introduce an infection risk) or pull the baby out of there (you will probably just give that kid a brachial plexus injury) and for the love of god, you do not need to cut the fucking cord as soon as baby is out. People seem to fixate on this even though, in most countries, delayed cord clamping is standard practice, but everyone's seen the tv or movie where people act like if you don't cut that cord immediately the baby is going to...idk, go back in? We've had a horror stories of even paramedics cutting cords and not clmaping the umbilical stump (that is now an open wound with thre huge vessels in it, guess what happens) or snapping cords by yanking on them, or in one case even causing a uterine inversion (basically what you think it is) by trying to pull out a placenta that had not yet detached from the uterine wall.

Fortunately, the births that happen that quickly are generally at lower risk of complications, for the person giving birth or baby - it's the ones that labour for days, or push for hours, where you're more likely to see babies that come out flat or don't transition well to breathing, or massive PPHs.

look "doctor" everyone knows that the umbilicus is basically a bungee cord and if you dont sever that thing asap the baby's gonna ricochet right back up there and make a bunch of gmod collision noises

no you're right, landing a plane is probably not the best comparison lol. i did really like that one story about the expectant mom who got lost on a hike and ended up successfully delivering the baby herself, including if im not mistaken successfully tying off the cord with a hoodie string or something and then chewing through it herself? i might have made up a false memory about the cord part but both she and the baby were completely fine even after being stuck in the wilderness for, iirc, several days. ive never been pregnant and probably never will be BUT that has always seemed like the ideal birthing environment for me, a person for whom the greatest risk to my mental health in that scenario is people fussing over me and telling me what to do in a maternity ward while im trying to concentrate (i dont actually believe this, i am sure in the event i got pregnant i would prefer to make choices that minimized the risk of injury to myself and the baby)

He's not a bad person at all! in fact he's extremely relationship oriented, but if he feels unbalanced and insecure in himself its difficult for him to navigate them. Hes able to intergrate the two sides of his personality and be free, hes also more open with his words hehe to the point people might perceive him as being harsh towards his partner. It truly comes down to him being able to express all the things he bottles up, so he lets it all out! He loves family life, and loves to work and work to support a family. I think he enjoys seeing his spouse/family enjoy the fruits of his labor. He also likes a fiery type of person, because he's also like that in many ways. With the empress, there is the sense he does want to start a family at some point, though i dont feel a rush to do so. He's down if and when his spouse is down. He's also willing to work on keeping the romance, intimacy, and fire of a relationship going at all times, he doesnt like stangancy in that way. so sweet hehe

Answering ur autism question: substance abuse. I know it's unhealthy, but my surroundings rn are generally very tumultuous (shaky living situation etc) and getting the same high consistently mimics a familiar environment to me. Even if my external stimulation is in constant flux, my inner goings on remain constant. I don't recommend this at all, by the way, I'm hoping other people who answer you will introduce me to a new way tbh

I haven't thought about substance use this way before, but it makes a ton of sense to me. I imagine it could apply to other altered states of consciousness too -- either by generating a familiar emotion (by listening to sad music, say) or through something like meditation or a trance state. I understand why this route isn't ideal for you, anon, but I can see why it would bring you some constancy and comfort. People always assume substance use is about escaping, but in a way you're using to even be able to ground yourself in reality to the extent you can. That's really insightful.
