The worry nags at his heart that maybe he missed something in his exhaustion, but keeping the search going will not help. He knows this, and so he shoots a tired smile to Jaina when he catches her looking through the transparisteel. “Yeah, no signs on the ships or through the Force.” He shakes his head, smile slipping into a frown. “We’ll start up the search again after we get some rest.” He hates that they have to stop, but he knows he is no help like this.

slowly her head turns to face him . eyes narrow , emotion drains from her features . the moment is still , but the lingering feeling of disaster is in the air . brown hues never shift from him as she stare . the moment seems to last forever until she suddenly begins laughing . leaning forward , she dramatically holds her stomach as if laughing had caused pain in her sides . 

jaina moves quickly . kicking his foot back so he tumbles forward , her arms encircles his head in a tight grasp .                       ❝   ben , are you trying to get beat up or --- ?   ❞

“ JAINA ! ”

Mara’s eyes widen as she eyes her niece and her bloodstained shirt. The nonchalant manner in which Jana states this discouraging, as the first thought that goes through Mara’s head is instinctively is that the blood is not Jaina’s. But as she rushes forward, she sees the mangled gnash against Jaina’s side, carefully concealed by her dark attire; yet blood seeps.

How very typical of a Solo to find trouble, Mara thinks, if only to find some levity amidst this moment. Her hands stretch to keep Jaina steady, as her emerald eyes look downward to the wound to assess the damage.

“ We need to staunch the bleeding, ” Mara says, tugging off her jacket and pressing it to Jaina’s side. Blood seeps through, dark and warm. “ What did you even do to get a wound like this ? Is it still out there ? ” Eyes briefly flash, thinking of an opponent - man or beast - out there, lurking in wait. “ Keep pressure here. I’m going to carry you to the ship ... and don’t worry. I’ll consider not telling your parents. ”

Soaring (Tahiri Veila x Anakin Solo)

So I watched The Bad Batch and now my brain is nothing but Star Wars. I have happily gone through all the prompts I've reblogged here and started writing little blurbs. Requests are still open!

You’ve said you’re going to leave, but I don’t want you to go and if I don’t say something now…

Tahiri stood at the end of the ramp, one foot on the cool metal of the Falcon, the other with her toes still curled around the grass of the landing field. Anakin and his father were still waiting for Jacen and Jaina to come back with their things, but Tahiri knew that if she moved another inch, she wouldn't be in control of her words and actions.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she watched Anakin explain the nuances of the debate between the Mon Calamari and the Quarrens. His ice-blue eyes shone in the setting sun and his hands darted back and forth to illustrate his explanations. Tahiri begged the force that he wouldn't sense how much she loved watching him explain things.

"...Of course, Mom could totally handle this all by herself, but she says it shows Mon Cala how important this debate is to the New Republic if we're all there. But I'm pretty sure she needs us to keep dad awake during the proceedings." He said.

"I'm sure you could help too, if your mom needed it," Tahiri put in, "You're good at coming up with solutions that no one else does."

Anakin grinned back at her, and was it just her imagination, or did he blush?

"Hi Tahiri!" Jacen and Jaina approached the Falcon with their duffel bags slung over their shoulders, waving goodbye to their friends watching from the hangar bay. Tahiri frowned, she'd been hoping for at least a couple more minutes alone with Anakin.

"Ready to go?" Jacen beamed up at his little brother. Jaina gave Tahiri a hug that was almost instinct, and Tahiri couldn't help but return the embrace with fervor. She'd be lying if she said that one of the benefits of being so close with Anakin Solo wasn't the friendship of his brother and sister.

"Yeah," Anakin sighed, despite being so excited about the debate just a moment ago, "I guess I'll see you later, Tahiri."

"See you later, Anakin, I love you!"

"Love you too!"

Tahiri didn't realize what she'd said until Anakin replied in kind. And then both Jacen and Jaina were looking at them with the smuggest Solo grins Tahiri had ever seen. Anakin's face was so incredibly red beneath his honeyed mop of hair, and Tahiri thought she would evaporate from the heat she felt in her cheeks.

"Krakana got your tongue?" Jacen ruffled his brother's hair before darting deeper into the Falcon to hide. Jaina took after him with a cackle.

Anakin took a step to run after his older brother and sister, but stopped himself, turning to smile back at Tahiri.

"I can't wait to get back," He told her.

Tahiri inhaled sharply, and ran up the ramp. Before he could react, she placed a quick kiss on his cheek, and ran back down. By the time Anakin had processed what had happened, the ramp was closing, and his father was yelling for him to strap in.

"I'll see you when you get back!" She waved as the ramp shut.

Her heart was still beating powerfully, but with each beat she felt lighter than air. She was fairly certain it took off with the Falcon as it soared over the Massassi treetops, up higher and higher towards the gas giant of Yavin.

“And you’ve, what? Buried all your feelings this whole time? Thought you’d deal with it some other day, it’s not important right now?” Okay, maybe he was projecting a little bit, because he had done that before. Many times, and it never ended well. “I might not be able to do much, but I can listen if you want to vent.” Kyp paused and then shrugged. “Or if you want to spar, we could do that too.”

Newly crowned King Kylo of Arendelle locks himself away in an ice castle of his own making after his coronation doesn’t go as planned. Though his twin sister Princess Jaina is determined to make him see sense, it turns out local ice farmer Rey is just what Ben needs to find the balance his soul has craved since he was a child.

   Some parts of this story will follow the movies almost word for word. Other details of course won’t. Those differences will tell the real story we’re following here…

Jaina Solo Had a Type:

I'm having a "reminiscing about the Star Wars EU" day (when it was good it was very, very good, and when it was bad, lol, I still read it) and thanks to @ice-connoisseur mentioning familiarity with Jaina Solo more through fic & wikis... I find myself compelled to share two Random Scenes From Jaina Solo's Love Life that, though I haven't reread these books ever, have somehow stayed with me over half my life:

Leia, telling Jag Fel, Jaina's love interest at the time, how to find a young Jedi named Zekk... who happens to be Jaina's childhood sweetheart:

"He looks a bit like a young Kyp Durron- dark hair and green eyes, similar height..."

[Leia] trailed off and she studied Jag appraisingly.

For a moment Jag thought she might comment on the fact that this description could just as well have been applied to him.

In his opinion, there were far too many dark-haired, green-eyed men in Jaina Solo's orbit.

The EU at its height: ah yes the once-roguish teenage crush, the troublemaking bad boy of Jedi Masters who's too old for her, and the by-the-book rival pilot... are all A Suspiciously Similar Physical Type and forced to awkwardly recognize this themselves and deal with Leia & Han also noting this resemblance and its implications on Jaina's interests thereof. "Legends" is right.

pretty sure this is the one & only time I have seen this happen in fiction... though IRL some folks' romantic interests sure tend to be A Certain Type...

Also, from a later book (the trilogy where the EU totally lost me to be honest... there may have been mind-melding bugs... but still) this moment :

Han, over ship comms, in response to Jag Fel (his daughter's then-ex) telling them he really doesn't want to shoot them down:

"Do what you have to do, kid. I always liked Kyp Durron better anyway."

(Leia then slaps off the comms to demand Han, are you crazy - less so for antagonizing the guy in command of a fleet they're face, more so because - Kyp?!)
