I am once again popping by to say hello. 👋🏻 I used to post so much more frequently on here but after my life pretty much was falling apart when COVID started in early 2020, I felt like I couldn’t share things on here. • I have always been all about promoting that having Crohn’s doesn’t define me and showing people you can accomplish SO much despite your chronic illness, so when I was laid off due to COVID and had to make some major life decisions and changes for my family I just felt like such a failure and didn’t want people seeing the struggle. • But after going through so many ups and downs since early 2020, and continuing to experience them, I’ve realized that it’s important to be real. So much social media is just a person’s “highlight reel” and we never see what goes on behind the scenes or the struggles they are facing. As much as I claim I’m an open book, I’ve realized I’m an open book when it comes to my health, but pretty closed when it deals with my career, family, and aspirations. Which is totally fine. But I think it’s important to reiterate to stop comparing yourself to people on social media. You are only seeing small pieces of their life. Things no one told you

Pricing new teeth. For 12+ years I have been on Remicade,Humaria,Cimciza, and as of now ENTYVIO. I knew that I would need to be monitored for osteoporosis, which in my last bone scans showed the beginnings in the left hip and femur. So it should make sense that that can wreak havoc on your teeth. The first sign of trouble was on vacation in Belize one of the local men gave me some local snacks. I bit into the snack (local heart of palm) and my tooth broke in to 5 or 6 pieces of varing sizes. I was on hour from the nearest airport and about 2 more from a dentist. I choose to stay and was treated by the local guide that had given me local the snack to me. When we got back to the lodge I was no near closer to a dentist. With only 3 more day I stayed so I didn’t ruin my wife’s trip. I have had to cut to many vacations and trips or drive to the store in the 15+ of marriage to ruin this. Luckily an orthopedic surgeon arrived in the camp that evening and was able control the pain of this exploding tooth. The crush into to its self like a hotel imploded in Vegas. The tooth was robbed of Ca and the structure of the was gone. Now have three missing teeth and several more broken off just below the gum. I was always proud that I took good care of my teeth, no cavities until 6 years ago. Now every tooth has damage and I am ashamed. My teeth look like a meth addict. The dentists(5 so far) have all recommended the all on 4/5 methods of implants over dentures because of the likelihood that I will have more bone loss in the future. Once the teeth are removed the jaw will lose bone(happens to anyone with no teeth), the difference is that there is much more bone loss with dentures. Prices are crazy $40,000, foreign prices are more reasonable but still a lot for me, $8,000 plus travel and lodging for two trip to the country. I set up a go fund me but I’m not sure what and how to anything. I know some of you are thinking “I could never go stay in the jungle.” I have a hard time driving to the store. It was not easy but I was not as bad as I thought it could be.

This week marks my four month stomaversary, and I will finally have my review with my surgeon. Yay. • This is also my second week back at work, and I am loving being back. I am determined to try and get myself back on track swiftly, after phasing myself into my routine. • I have been a bit quiet on here. Everything is fine, I am just trying to get on with things and adapt to everything but it's sometimes easier said than done. Fun Friday meme for you! 😂😂 • • I know I’ve been super inconsistent with Instagram and updating everyone that for so long has followed me and my IBD journey. So I do apologize for that! • • But my journey is ALL over the place, so inconsistency is really just on point with my life right now. 😂 • • My fistula surgery in June went well. The surgeon was able to go straight to a fistulotomy instead of placing a seton drain. And now that it’s pretty much healed, it means, I’m cleared to do just about everything! 🙌🏻 • • I have an appointment with my PCP soon to decide if I need neurology for my migraines. They’ve been getting more intense over the last year with auras and nausea lasting way longer than before. I don't remember if I've already mentioned this but I've had an abnormally high resting heart rate since leaving the hospital at the beginning of April. (And by high, I mean consistently higher than 110bpm). I have since spoken to my GP and had a blood test to check my potassium levels, which came back fine, as well as an ECG. The ECG showed a regular but high heart rate of around 90-100 so they've referred me to the hospital out-patient cardio clinic to have another type of ECG (the proper name of which escapes me) where they put goop on your chest and use a scanner to watch your heart beating. Fingers crossed they'll figure out what's causing it. I'm still on prednisolone, which I know can cause a rise in heart rate, but it's never been this high before. I'm hoping it's nothing serious. Someone from IBDSuperheroes has suggested it could be the beginnings of POTS so I'll talk to the doctor when I go for the ECG.

Happy Sunday..

It's bank holiday for those in the UK, which mean tomorrow is a free weekend DAY! 🎉🎊

After over a week of road tripping around southern England, it's time to head home. I've seen and done some amazing things! All finished off with a spa stay and a nice full body massage!

It's been hard to push on, I've had good days and bad days.

It's been a pain trying to get low fibre and no dairy meals whilst eating out but it's been done. It's hard explaining what you can and can't consume, but people do try to accommodate. It's also been fun finding vegan cafe's for a lovely dairy free coffee and treat.

Yesterday I had my first nap in a while, I relaxed and made the best of a me day. It's what we all need every now and then. Don't forget to listen to your body and do what is needed. If you need a break, take one. Do what YOU need to get well.

2 weeks post surgery... I feel like it's very easy to forget how easy I tire out. I've not been very good at resting, as I feel so well with my Crohns pain being nonexistent since I woke up. I managed to go and do a short walk with my Milo, which felt so good. I love the fresh air, and the happy skips of the furbaby make it so worth it. Getting back home I got my comfys on and ended up having a great nap. My wounds are all healing great, and I'm adjusting to my new life with a ileostomy.
