thinking about writing this for Gallavich A.U.gust week 1 (or if I don't finish it in time then I'll post it during the free week)
Just wanted to know what you guys thought of this idea :)
Some Caleb bashing
EMT Ian
In this AU, Caleb and Ian having been dating for a few years now. It kind of feels like they're going through the motions somedays, there's just this missing spark that Ian tells himself isn't a big deal because it's just a small rough patch and all couples go through it
He loves Christmas but Caleb doesn't as much and makes jabs at Ian's expense about it (he does that about a lot of things Ian likes, actually) but again, he just brushes it off
Instead of being with his family for the holiday, he accepts Caleb's invitation to spend it with his family instead (idk if I'd make them more accepting of his sexuality or not and add to the drama)
And the neighborhood Caleb's parents live in just so happens to be the same one that Mandy Milkovich lives in now that she's escaped her abusive father. It's also the same year that she convinces her grumpy, foul-mouthed brother to join her now that he's out of Terry's grasp as well. She wants this year to be different for them, for them to have a happy Christmas for the first time in their lives
As it turns out, Christmas isn't really a big deal in Caleb's family. They'll celebrate but it's nothing like Ian's used to at his own childhood home. What's worse is that he hoped to use this opportunity to get close to his boyfriend's family and he just can't. They're polite but seemingly uninterested
And one morning while Caleb is out (for work, or some tradition with his family), Ian goes for a walk and ends up down the street where he sees a guy fall off a roof while trying to install Christmas lights. He's cursing at the woman--his wife? No, no, he learns, sister and she's just rolling her eyes, unconcerned
He gets to know the Malkovich's and forms a fast bond. He gets along better with them than Caleb's family, that's for sure. And as he helps the siblings create their own version of a perfect Christmas, Ian gets along with Mickey easily. He can banter with him and not deal with passive-aggressive remarks in return. It's...it's just different
Over the course of his stay in the neighborhood, Ian comes to terms with the fact that he's fallen out of love with his boyfriend and fallen in love with the guy down the street

I've noticed that among the original Space Pirate trio, Kraid is the only one who's been completely left out when it comes to characterization, relevance, and impact on Samus' backstory. Mother Brain's role is obvious, she's the leader; Ridley's evolved, it seems, from his role in capturing the Infant Metroid and kicking off the game's events; The game needed one of the bosses to successfully escape, which also meant being defeated afterwards.
Between Ridley and Phantoon as the only mobile ones, Ridley is brought back to show how the series has begun to evolve, and these recurring appearances and importance make him a speaking character in the Super Metroid comic... Cue him returning in Fusion and being shown in flashbacks attacking Samus' family, and with Mother Brain retconned as a Chozo supercomputer who betrayed them to the Space Pirates, Ridley naturally filled in the spot of their previous leader.
Kraid? Alas, poor Kraid! He was also meant to be in Prime alongside Ridley, since it was essentially meant to be a 3D Super, but his fight was too difficult to program in their time crunch! So Retro resorted to a giant version of the Elite Pirates they'd already programmed, called the Omega Pirate, and had him replace Kraid in the Phazon Mines.
Anyhow, it makes me consider a Metroid show or fanon or whichever in which Kraid is given actual relevance just shy of Ridley and Mother Brain themselves, and is part of that trio. And my point on how even Other M discusses Ridley and Mother's relevance to Samus' psychology, even if this idea is executed in a very flawed manner, makes me also realize: Kraid has no personal relevance to Samus either.
Now, all of this does lend well to Dread's portrayal of Kraid as someone who was never as important or meaningful to Samus as those other jerks, which leads to her hilarious, badass irreverence towards Kraid. But I do have to consider a story in which Kraid IS made relevant, and the difference between him and Mother is that he wasn't as much of a horrific, longstanding trauma, and is someone Samus gets to see chained and shackled; Plus, Kraid isn't as much of a fight.
So how do Ridley and Mother Brain play into Samus' backstory? I realize they basically kill off two separate families of her, mark the end of two different lives in two different homes; Ridley kills Samus' human family, he ravages K-2L. This leads her to Zebes... Only for Mother Brain to betray the Chozo to the Space Pirates, causing Gray Voice's death and for the remaining Chozo to flee the galaxy. Zebes is no longer a home for Samus to return to, and eventually it's destroyed because of Mother.
So what 'third' family, backstory, home does Samus have? The Federation. She had her time in the Federation, she had the Malkovich brothers and Anthony. Samus eventually left that home too, in order to become the bounty hunter we all know and love today.
We even have someone in the Federation who dies; Ian Malkovich. His death is introduced in Other M, which is admittedly about Samus' relationship with the Federation when you think about it. And since Kraid is a member of High Command, it might make a lot of sense to make him responsible for the Lusitania incident.
Granted, this isn't as huge or traumatic a thing as losing her parents or the Chozo she was raised by being gone forever; So that could also match with Kraid not being as much of a specter in Samus' life. He could be more of a casual Space Pirate arch-nemesis to Samus, in-between Ridley and Mother Brain; With those two, their moments have to matter, they need to have weight, etc. But with Kraid, it's way less tense, which in some ways leads to more creative freedom, and of course culminates in the Dread fight.
Of course, there is one criticism I've considered; That having Kraid be part of Samus' backstory and growth as a character, influencing the incident that made her finally leave the Federation, could be... ludicrous? That all three Space Pirate commanders are involved with Samus in some way. Granted, Kraid is a Space Pirate commander; Samus inevitably comes to fight him anyway, and her time in the Federation was part of that revenge against the pirates. And making Kraid less directly involved with Ian's death, but still a component, could make the whole thing just understated enough... Idk.
In the case of Kraid, Samus kind of WAS asking to fight him and risk losses of some kind, and I don't mean that in a victim-blaming kind of way, but in a "We're avoiding a third coincidence of having this enemy just happen to cross paths/be involved with Samus, by having Samus be the one to take initiative to find this guy" kind of way. It represents her growing into the hunter who fights back, which then culminates in her finally becoming independent from the Federation after being dissatisfied by its handling of the nevertheless successful Lusitania mission.
Samus’ conflict with Kraid begins with her conflict with administrative handling of situations, and this could be reflected in Kraid’s antagonistic role as a commander who acts through others and even decoys to direct troops against Samus; Seeing Kraid sacrifice his own soldiers cements her hatred of him. He’s the most extreme example she learned from that informs Samus’ distaste for working within larger systems; Adam not getting everything right was also a minor part of it. But Kraid illustrated just how bad this could get.
So it matches with Kraid being less of a directly personal deal to her, compared to Mother Brain who has less appearances and didn't spark PTSD, and Ridley who caused everything afterwards and did lead to a suicidal panic attack. Plus, it kind of goes with Kraid being a starter boss in Zero Mission; He’s not this big emotional hurdle, just a physical one so it’s a good place to start off and show Samus’ growth throughout her first big adventure.
I’ve had this concept for a hypothetical show to give us the backstory, but then a few episodes of Samus fighting Space Pirates and building up her fame before the Zero Mission begins. And part of this is Samus trying to track down Kraid and defeat him, only to then find out the twist of his smaller doppelgänger. Because if Zero Mission no longer leaves room for that, the only place left is to put that before the Zero Mission itself!
And with Kraid as someone Samus fails to defeat after discovering how huge he is, it makes him a Goliath to her David to come back to and surpass, on a more casual first boss level. So next time, Samus is prepared and has actual upgrades with her, which allows her to have the big first moment when she downs a major Space Pirate for the first time; That makes her feel more prepared to then take on Ridley in Norfair. She succeeds, Samus is feeling better, Gandrayda gives her a thumbs up, and then she defeats Mother Brain…
Only for the Zero Suit segment to ask the question: Did Samus only get this far because of her upgrades? Or is there more to her and her growth than that? And this is confirmed when she passes the Ruins Test, and deemed just as worthy of the Power Suit as she’s ever been. Maybe anyone else could wear it like Samus does, but Chozo tech would not be enough to accomplish her feats; That is owed more to Samus’ strength of heart and ingenuity as a warrior.

Could you do a yandere fiona gallagher x female reader x yandere best friend mickey Malkovich?
Conversations In The Gallagher Kitchen
Yandere Fiona X Reader X Platonic Yandere Mickey
Tumblr media
“Why are you always here?” Fiona weaves around the small Gallagher kitchen, picking up plated and bowls from breakfast and still finding time to to stare pointedly at Mickey. “Ian’s not even here. At least when he’s here it makes sense”
Mickey gives a flash of his middle finger, which Fiona returns. “I’m here for Y/n. She wasn’t at her house and I know she’s your lay of the week.”
The eldest Gallagher contemplates murder at the implication but the momentary look of disgust on mickeys face calms her just enough to reply. “She went out to get a toothbrush. Liam flushed hers.”
“You’re just letting her walk around alone in this neighborhood? Some girlfriend you are.” Mickey leans back against the counter his disgust fading to sadistic glee. Just the thought of proving how crappy Fiona was for you made him happy.
Fiona stops picking up to glare softly at your supposed best friend. “Wow you sure give her a lot of credit. How’d you think she’d like to hear you say that?”
The Milkovich flinches the tiniest bit at the thought but recovers quickly. “She’d know I was just looking out for her.”
“I think she’d kick your ass” Fiona continues to glare but her eyes fill with pride at the thought, it was impossible to stay upset when she thought of you.
“Whatever. I’ll wait.” Mickey pulls out a chair from the kitchen table and starts to tap his fingers impatiently.
“Fine. I guess we’ll see who she chooses when she gets back. Her girlfriend” she smirks softly at how ridiculous this was. “or you.” Fiona takes the seat opposite of him and the pair glare at each other, both poised to monopolize you as soon as you come in.

Metroid; Other M - An Essay/Review
I consider myself a Metroid fan, even though I've only played two Metroid games. Those games being Metroid; Samus Returns and Metroid; Other M, today we'll be talking about the latter.
It is recommended you listen to the track from the game called Metroid; Other M - Piano Medley while reading this. I will also give you other tracks to listen to, it is also recommended to read on desktop or a laptop.

Story
Tumblr media
Now I as a wee child in 2012 got a Wii along with Epic Mickey (warrants it's own essay), Super Mario Galaxy (also requires an essay), and Metroid Other M (I'll refer to it as Other M). So I will be writing this without bias or nostalgia.
Now this came out after Metroid Prime 3 (currently playing it atm) which portrayed Samus as a badass, which she is in every game. This game kinda does that decently, although the story is iffy it has a good message and TRIED to give Samus emotion and inner-thoughts.
Samus after recovering from the battle against Mother Brain, that happened years ago, heads into space when she gets a distress call from an abandoned Galactic Federation base called 'The Bottle Ship' where she supposedly got the call from 'the baby'. There she encounters her old team from the time she was at the federation, these people are: Adam Malkovich, Anthony Higgs, Ian Malkovich, James Pierce, K.G. Misawa, and Lyle Smithsonian.
Now I'm still salty after all these years about the whole cutscene in Sector Zero. Now if Adam knew they weren't immune to freeze rays, why did he shoot a freeze ray at Samus?? Also his sacrifice seemed somewhat forced, but I guess Sakamoto wanted to put Samus in a more vulnerable position. Another infamous scene is the cutscene before you fight Ridley where Samus is put in a vulnerable position and is saved by Anthony, I'm not gonna go further into this but you get where I'm going with this.
Now I'm not gonna go into full detail but this game was designed to have story and action at the forefront, and this has a lot of unnecessary story bits and cutscenes. Now I know Samus' voice is very robotic but this was developed in Japan first and it was probably due to Sakamoto overseeing both the Japanese dub and American dub, in Japan a more monotonous voice makes a hero more compelling.
If we were to get a switch port I'd say fix some of the unnecessary story and re-dub the whole thing.
Tumblr media
Gameplay
Tumblr media
Now let's talk about gameplay which has its problems but it has its good parts. I like the implementation of authorizing weapons instead of finding them like you would in other games. You also hold the wii remote horizontally.
Now the whole finding containers like the missle capacity containers aren't that necessary unless you are doing a 100% run since you won't be using them that often. Now I have a problem with all the controls being just on the wii remote, especially with how the dodge is also on the d-pad which you use to move Samus around.
There's also the implementation of first person by flipping the wii remote vertically, this allows you to refill your missiles and recover some health since the only way to recover full health is to get to a recharge station which also act as save points. Now when replaying this for my essay/review I almost hurt my wrist when desperately trying to recharge health when fighting a mob of enemies.
Gameplay isn't great but it is decent as decent can get.
Tumblr media
The Flaws
Tumblr media
youtube
Let's talk about the flaws in Other M. Most are well known such as the poor characterization of Samus, the faulty controls, the plot holes in the story, and some of the mechanics.
I already went over the story flaws and the poor characterization of Samus, so let's go over the flaws of the game mechanics. I went over the problems that arise when playing specifically with the controls being just on the wii remote. The wii remote is also small and can easily be flung out of your hand when trying to go first person. The walking sections of the game are very boring and slow compared to the other faster paced sections of the game, the bosses are fine except for the 2nd form of Ridley A.K.A the small fuzzy creature you encounter earlier in Sector 1.
The authorization aspect is cool but Adam only activates things you need when you are actively dying. The biggest example of this is in Sector 3 when you are actively burning alive when Adam activates the Varia Suit. So it's faulty, but it is a good concept.
The missle capacity capsules aren't even necessary when just playing the game unless you're doing a 100% run through. They're especially hard to reach as well until later in the game when you'll have to back track to get them. Another problem is the back tracking you have to do, you'll travel through all the sectors only to have to back track to get back to the main area then back to a different sector. It's just so unnecessary and tiring to have to go back to the main area just to be able to go to a different sector.
Anyways we're close to the end of this essay/review.
Tumblr media
Should You Play It?
Tumblr media
If you just want a Metroid game that's campy, you don't care about story, love fast paced action, and you can have a somewhat fun time then yes I suggest playing it.
If you care about story and 100 percenting it then this game isn't for you as you will be doing a lot of back tracking to 100% it and the story has plot holes.
This essay/review is to talk about the positives of the game as well as the negatives. It's a good game but it is shrouded by only the negative aspects of it. If you cannot access the game to play it yourself then I suggest watching a comment less playthrough of it.
This is simply my opinion and you can form your own from playing it or just watching a playthrough. But, at least give it a chance before judging it blindly. Thank you for reading, I'm always passionate about writing about the things I enjoy.

“Height Difference”
Castilla (OC) and Adam Malkovich as sassy young recruits. Oddly enough, trying to draw a younger, slightly less angular Adam (before he got more grim and scowly, although in my head he’s always had some measure of that) ended up looking a lot like Ian. Which I suppose makes sense. I’m still not the best at drawing faces but I think he came out with a decent enough likeness.
Adam’s canon-ish height is about 6′0″/183 cm, Castilla stands around 4′8″/143 cm, which is a bit short even for an Acaprian. (By the way, don’t lean on your Acaprian friends like this, or you may find out the hard way that they never lost their ancestral reinforced skull/neck, and that they stand at around rib-cracking height. Castilla notably has built up a reputation for being “clumsy,” which really just means she tends to step on the toes of people who tick her off and blithely pass it off as accidental. Suffice to say Adam learned his lesson the first time he invaded her personal space.)
The uniforms here are based on the handful of cutscenes from Samus’s GFP era in Other M Colours pulled mostly from official art and @color-palettes set “Smiling Soldier” Pose ref from theposearchives on DeviantArt

So I guess I ride off into one of their crappy cities good for me. I guess they wanna clear to try and come out. Talk about all day long on the radio they're just disgusting stupid people and they're nitrogen narcosis that's what it is nitrogen is stuck in there but good. I tried putting helium in they got really mad at me I kept doing it finally it'll calm down I said now you guys have to do it to each other it's very dangerous 'cause you're angry. We kept doing it one day they stopped and got screwed up again and I can't stop them as hell this is terrible. Right that's what it is so within the world in the balance you almost blew it he says. What's over that way it's a small airfield outside of Toronto and it's to the north if you go north of Toronto like 5 miles that's the airport and you go another 7 miles that's where that thing goes off and it's a city that was brought over there it's only 5 by 5 miles but it looks like a new quiz on board a nuclear weapon was on board and it did look like 4 minutes no it became seconds it looks real I don't have time to jump out but I would get incinerated and he says it looks like 4 minutes and it's speed up and that's what I say so you have to be careful when you jump I kind of know the area and I'm a mutant and I might be an alpha and they could be after us and people have to check a lot it's annoying and we do have hope that they will accept us we don't think it's real and he can't tell but he says there's an easy way to tell is that if Max are out of the way and they say you're out of the way and we know what the pattern is. So we keep ourselves and we also have several other things to discuss not really but we want our interested in the vehicle this has been a pain in the ****. He wants me to make pain in the **** bar. I don't know if anybody would go there and he says why do you think they think it's a pain in the **** there and that's funny o K kid I'm very
and that's funny o K kid I'm very
anthony hcopkins
I'm at the post office he can never remember my name it's Ian Malkovich . And yeah he can remember it but really what a show I tell you it's exhilarating seeing it and I don't know why we're putting bombs on there no we're pseudo empire and that's what we're doing and maybe the son of James Costa and he wants to know where Jim is so I know that he liked you and he's your friend and mentor and you learned a lot and I will tell you he did not die well no he was sick and he says OK so they have him somewhere and I certainly would probably know where and I know where they intend to put him so we are getting ahead of the 8 ball. He was a little bit abnormal so he's one of us. Good we should assemble the rescue Rangers and it's not a bad unit and the badger is the mascot and I had a badger as a pet for a long time two of them and they were very cute couple and they do movies and they're famous famous movies and cartoons and live movies and we know who they are they have special names and for crying out loud we're going to use the badger and we have women and men the women will be the black and white and the men of the red and white and we get that. I'm gonna try and get it going but we need uniforms and he says you might as well make part of it out of Kevlar and we're gonna go ahead and do that. People need jobs big time.

'Andrew Scott is the latest actor to step into the sneaky shoes of '60s grifter Tom Ripley in Netflix's upcoming limited series, Ripley.
The Fleabag breakout — who is currently earning Oscar buzz for his role in All of Us Strangers — leads the latest adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s bestselling Tim Ripley novels, most famously seen on screen in 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law.
Like that movie, Ripley follows the conman after he is hired by a wealthy benefactor to convince his vagabond son Dickie Greenleaf to return home from Italy. But Tom quickly becomes enchanted by the glamor of Dickie's lifestyle and does everything to ensure his place alongside him.
Netflix dropped a trailer for the suspenseful drama on Monday. "Tom's acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder," a logline for the reads.
Joining Scott in Ripley will be Emma's Johnny Flynn as Dickie, the part Law played in the film. Alongside him is Dakota Fanning as Dickie's picture-perfect girlfriend Marge Sherwood (Paltrow's previous role). She's the one who first suspects Tom might not be who he says he is.
All episode of Ripley will hit Netflix on Feb. 4. The eight-episode series is written, directed, and executive produced by Academy Award winner Steve Zaillian (The Irishman, The Night Of), who told Vanity Fair in December that telling the story of Tom's treachery over multiple episodes allowed him to be "more faithful to the story, tone, and subtleties of Highsmith’s work."
"[I] tried to approach my adaptation in a way I imagined she might herself," Zaillian told the outlet, adding that he even shot the series in "gorgeous" black and white to correspond with "the edition of the Ripley book" he had on his desk.
Highsmith — who did died in 1995 at the age of 74 — published five Ripley novels over the course of 36 years: The Talented Mr. Ripley (1955), Ripley Under Ground (1970), Ripley's Game (1974), The Boy Who Followed Ripley (1980) and Ripley Under Water (1991).
Before 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley, that novel was adapted into the 1960 film Purple Moon, with Alain Delon as Tom. Ripley's Game was filmed in 1977 as The American Friend starring Dennis Hopper, and later under its original title in a 2002 movie with John Malkovich. Ripley Under Ground hit the screen in 2005, in a film starring Barry Pepper.
In 2009, BBC Radio 4 brought all five Ripley novels to life with Ian Hart as Tom. Other television adaptations have come over the years as well — though Netflix's Ripley is the most thorough.
Playing the role wasn't easy for Scott, who is also executive producing the show. "It was a heavy part to play," he told Vanity Fair. "I found it mentally and physically really hard. That’s just the truth of it."
"I feel like you’re required to love and advocate for your characters, and your job is to go, 'Why? What’s that?' You don’t play the opinions, the previous attitudes that people might have about Tom Ripley," Scott, 47, also said. "You have to throw all those out, try not to listen to them, and go, 'Okay, well, I have to have the courage to create our own version and my own understanding of the character.' "
That doesn't mean he ever got there, the actor noting that he struggled to understand some of Tom's actions. "Certain things I can understand, but other things — it’s actually the blankness that’s sometimes hard to engage with," he said.'
