the boys is literally political satire man idk what to tell you
The first two seasons was as much a critique about the superhero genre as anything.
Kripke has had to be reminded by his actors that Homelander isn't a 1:1 analogue of Trump. The show has become more about TRUMP BAD after he left office than it ever was while he was president.
If you don't understand that a show can be multiple things, man idk what to tell you.

The other night I had a dream that there was a hot new parody of the song Lump by Presidents of the United States of America. Tragically, I don't remember any of the parody lyrics beyond the chorus of "she's Lump, she's Lump, she's Lump" being replaced with "he's Trump, he's Trump, he's Trump".

I wish this was a parody. He actually said that. He said presidents have absolute immunity and the only method to hold a president accountable for an "official act" is via a guilty verdict in an impeachment trial.
And it's even worse than "congress being cool with it". Congress can be almost entirely against it and it'll still pass (according to Trump's logic) because to achieve a guilty verdict in an impeachment trial requires a 2/3 majority vote in the senate.
So really it only takes a little over a third of the senate, which is 34 senators, to be cool with it, in order to make presidentially ordered assassination of political rivals legal (again, according to Trump).
And even worse. These 34 senators could be representing as few as 17 states and as few as 24 million people, or only 7.5% of the country.
The Court of Appeals rejected this interpretation outright, but the fact that Trump chose to present this argument and continues to spew it in his rallies is a major concern.
I know I'm preaching to the choir talking about it on Tumblr, but Trump wants to be a dictator. And the Republican Party are supporting him in this effort.
Abolish the Republican Party. They're not a legitimate political party anymore. They're a hostile fascist entity trying to overthrow America's democracy and they need to be dealt with accordingly.

I have posted this many times, and I'm so sad to say this is still relevant. This episode of All in the Family aired 16 Sept 1972. This was a PARODY of the absurdity of pro-gun arguments and conservatives in the era.
Archie Bunker goes on tv and argues, ridiculously, for everyone to have guns, and is then promptly held up by people who saw his editorial on gun control.
youtube
Archie Bunker was an absurdity. He was NOT supposed to become inspiration for a future president. Every episode was Norman Lear (one of the best producers of television in American history) using Archie Bunker to beg and plead the audience to have some shred of respect and NOT be like Archie Bunker.
I am exhausted and ashamed that what was an outrageous joke 52 years ago is STILL an argument that not only we continue to have, but that some people literally take it seriously.
You know what the saddest thing is? Archie Bunker is better than most conservatives, and do you know why? Because every week he spouts this absolute garbage, and everyone around him tells him he's crazy and stupid and he needs to stop. Then, his horrible bigotry and sadistic insanity get him in trouble. Then, at the end of the episode, Archie realises that his argument was wrong, and he has to re-evaluate his stance.
[Archie is delivering en editorial on a local TV station] Archie Bunker: [on TV] Good evening, everybody. This here is Archie Bunker of 704 Hauser Street, veteran of the big war, speaking on behalf of guns for everybody. Now, question: what was the first thing that the Communists done when they took over Russia? Answer: gun control. And there's a lot of people in this country want to do the same thing to us here in a kind of conspiracy, see. You take your big international bankers, they want to - whaddya call - masticate the people of this here nation like puppets on the wing, and then when they get their guns, turn us over to the Commies. Edith Bunker: Oh, Archie, I'm glad they put you on a stool, you look taller sitting down. Archie Bunker: [on TV] Now I want to talk about another thing that's on everybody's minds today, and that's your stick-ups and your skyjackings, and which, if that were up to me, I could end the skyjackings tomorrow. Michael 'Meathead' Stivic: You could? Archie Bunker: [on TV] All you gotta do is arm all your passengers. He ain't got no more moral superiority there, and he ain't gonna dare to pull out no rod. And then your airlines, they wouldn't have to search the passengers on the ground no more, they just pass out the pistols at the beginning of the trip, and they just pick them up at the end! Case closed. Michael 'Meathead' Stivic: That's incredible, Arch.
I'm almost sad that Norman Lear lived to see the rise of neo-fascism and trumpism (same thing) in America. But for his 100th birthday, Lear wrote an article (linked above, excerpts below) reflecting on the America he saw in his 100 years. Absolutely worth a read.

God yeah it's so nice to see I'm not the only one. Like these were all the exact same conversations I heard when it was hilary vs trump?? It feels like an episode of the twilight zone like the democrats just sat on their hands for years and did nothing for the last 8 years but yeah sure *this* election is going to be the one that fixes everything. For years my joke was that every republican slashes corporate taxes and every succeeding democrat undoes half the cuts and we call that progress :)))))
And then I got an ad for the Biden campaign saying that we needed to elect them because they were literally going to do that. Fucking parody of themselves. And it's like have you people been doing nothing since the election??????? You don't go to fucking protests and try to protect your friends from capitalism??????????? I swear it seems like most "liberals" answer is every year but an election they can't do anything and every election year "we just need to keep things together one more time:)"
Sorry to rant
No honestly I totally agree it's just wild to see that we've been in a domestic policy stalemate for.... what, 20 years? There's like some change here and there, some terrible things, but overall we kind stayed the exact same since Clinton. Foreign policy, though, has progressively gone worse and worse and worse. Like the entire middle east is ruined. Many many countries are in poverty (I know from families and friends in all sorts of SWANA countries!!!). And it's primarily due to American intervention.
We're just at a point where something needs to change. The day by day has not gotten better for the average American and has progressively gotten worse in other places where us intervention is the norm. So like what's the point in recycling the same old talking points, saying we need to do something later but now we have this existential threat and-! I genuinely don't see an end to this cycle. After this election cycle when like... Nikki Hailey runs? Then what? Are we gonna say "vote blue to SAVE democracy" for the rest of our lives?? Because the way this is going, the Republicans are going to consistently get more and more extreme and the dems are gonna shift more and more right.
Idk I'm just wondering "when is far enough" for everyone to not want to vote blue? What is the point to be like "Yeah I can't ideologically in good faith support these people who are committing these atrocities"? Why are you not shocked at this point that something like this will happen so openly??

Boycott!
Tumblr media
It pisses me off that people care more about the fact that Snow White doesn't have pale skin than that there's a fucking genocide going on in the world (By the way, fucking boycott Disney because they helped Israel financially)
But you can see that there are more important things, remember the Olympics? Instead of being concerned about Israel being allowed, people got more outraged because they thought the drag queen was parodying an image of Jesus and not mythology… Yeah, that was fucking more important to them and it still pisses me off
It pisses me off that bullshit like this makes people look away from the genocide going on in the world and it's fucked up, stop fucking looking away, I understand, you want to feel better, but while you're doing something else, don't forget about Gaza, Congo , Sudan, Haiti, Syria, Ukraine… Just don't forget about them, I'm begging you
Now that I have your word:

If you follow this bloggo you know I don't like Stormfront being made into Homelander's gf rather than his father like in the comics.
Stormfront being his gf, in my opinion, narratively undercuts the America allegory (we don't COME from racism and eugenics, we just flirt with it when we're upset. Wrong. That's patriotic copium.) But, looking at how Kripke tries so hard to make Homelander = Trump when THAT comparison is barely surface level it's apparent that cohesive themes are obviously not his strong suit.
I know the show is supposed to be an "irreverent superhero parody" but Kripke decided to elevate it from its, let's be honest, unfilmable comic roots and make it current political satire so I will grade him and Seth Rogan (Rogan produces, no idea if he writes) on that metric.
Anyway, back to Stormfront, who's basically a right-wing Reddit chud but genderbent. That's it.
Look.
I'm not saying there aren't women like her in the alt right pipeline, there are. But women in the pipeline generally present differently than the men. Because, at its core, the movement is anti women or want them in "their place." They are very good foot soldiers for it though, make no mistake, women are key to spreading the right wing agenda but it just won't be done the same way the men do it.
I can sorta excuse her being the way that she is because ofc who would suspect the strong female hero of being the face of a regressive movement that notoriously derides women? (Even though her dog whistles are deafening, props to them for pointing out Nordaboos.)
HOWEVER...
It just would have been ten times funnier and more subversive if Homelander was having flying unhinged sex with a murderous tradwife superhero.

There is a worship song about Donald Trump
So I'm scrolling TikTok right, and suddenly I see this edit of Cthulhu with the song behind it. I'm like, this song is kind of funny; it's neat. I want to know the context behind it, so I click on the song, open up the song, and I find out this song was originally about Donald Trump!!?!!?!! I am not kidding, I am not joking, and from what I can tell, it is not a parody. A bunch of people on Tiktok thought it was a parody or that it was a song from the boys or something, but no, it isn't!!!!
[Insert screaming here]
It's called The Chosen One by Natasha Owens. These people are satirising themselves.
I do, however, have some good news because TikTok every once in a while can be a truly beautiful place, and I can tell you that a majority of the videos underneath that song are either people going WTF or, much more importantly, people using it for edits. Some of the characters the song was used for include, but are not limited to, Cthulhu, Mothman, Anakin Skywalker, and Palpatine.
However, my absolute favourite of these was a couple of edits I saw of Homelander from The Boys because, for obvious reasons, it fit very well.
I am not American, nor am I the first to say this, but we truly live in a bad timeline; however, on the bright side, we did get some excellent comedy out of it. (it doesn't make up for it but at least it's something)
Here are links to a few of the edits I mentioned:
Cthulhu, Homelander +1, Mothman +1, Anakin Skywalker and Emperor Palpatine, Voldemort, Bill Cipher, Joffrey Baratheon and Daenerys Targaryen, The Alien from Alien, Paul Atreides from dune, giardia, Godzilla, Hannibal from the TV show.
And bonus: A POV about Henry the viii
There are some more but I can't find and list it all.
I'm also tagging these fandoms because:
If I have to know about it, you do too, and I want to ask that you make more edits using this song, and if you actually do that for some reason, can you please tag one of my accounts on Tumblr? I need to see more of this shit. If you don't feel like it, that's fine, but if you do make more, please tag me. I what to see more please, please, pleeeeaase.

A lot of the AI parody art people are making of Kamala doesn't really look like her, which stands out when they put it next to one of Trump which looks comparatively accurate, I'm not sure if this is because people making the pics are halfassing it or we're seeing the upshot of the racial bias in the model's source data.

I'm usually pretty chill about The Boys when it comes to politics.
Yes, Homelander is a Trump parody.
Yes, Vought is a parody of Disney AND Big Pharma.
Yes, the show relentlessly mocks white supremacists, homophobes, corporate feminism and sexism.
Yes, in theory the show does pretend to give some meaningful messages about toxic masculity and cycles of abuse, even if it fails in practice more often than not.
Yes, the franchise as a whole is shameless liberal propaganda and I say this as someone who is neither American nor supports any American party because they both suck. One more than the other, but still. And it's not like I can vote there or anything so it's whatever.
Although I can ocassionally appreciate its political message, I just see The Boys as a form of entertainment and I don't really hold it to any type of high moral standard.
I'll admit I heard some rumors about Antony Starr being racist that made me uncomfortable, but after investigating the matter I concluded that it was just an Xer actor being an Xer actor. Aka, not understanding that that type of mean spirited 2000s humor is not acceptable anymore. Unless it's a Woody Allen or Roman Polansky level thing, I don't really believe in cancel culture, specially if it's over some instagram drama.
My point is that I do have issues with the show, but not enough to let it affect my enjoyment of it. That is until it comes to one. Single. Thing.
Frenchie.
Tomer Capone.
Although I loved the character when I first started the show, when I found out who the actor was I couldn't ignore it and I still can't. I look away during his scenes because of how uncomfortable I get. I do not engage with the character at all. I cannot write about him, I cannot read about him.
It's just creepy and upsetting for me, because this guy was not just a IDF footsoldier. He was literally a squad leader. To me, that's evil incarnate.
The fact that all the cast members openly support Israel almost made me quit watching. I strongly suspect that they don't actually care about the Israel-Palestine situation and were just forced to issue that opinion by the producers because, again, liberal propaganda.
I'm not saying you need to stop watching the show bc I didn't and obviously it would make me an hypocrite. Just felt like I needed to get it off my chest. I feel like this is something we don't talk about enough and are too quick to sweep under the rough, and I really feel we shouldn't.

New trailer for MAWS Season 2! I have some things to say.
Mainly about the villains.
And I just...
How about we start with the positives.
Tumblr media
They brought in Atomic Skull, which is great. He should've been here sooner if you ask me.
Tumblr media
Parasite is returning, and he was a stand-out in my opinion. Loved how they reinvented him.
Tumblr media
That's unmistakably a parademon, which means they'll be expanding the space side of the story and bringing in the New Gods. Cool.
Tumblr media
I'm thinking this is Solaris, the Tyrant Sun. Always fun to bring in an evil sentient star.
Tumblr media
Looks like they're bringing in Steel, which is awesome. Love having him around.
And for the big one:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Supergirl! Clark isn't alone anymore!
It'll be really fun watching how this develops.
Okay, now for the things I'm iffy about.
Tumblr media
Is this guy supposed to be Bloodsport or Conduit? Either way, can we stop with the techno-mercenary-criminals?
Tumblr media
I guess not because apparently this is going to be Blockbuster.
Tumblr media
Livewire's back. I say through clenched teeth. Hopefully, they'll introduce her pathological need for attention and validation in this season.
Tumblr media
Apparently, Brainiac is a collaborator with the Kryptonians, who seem to be like the Viltrumites from Invincible–superpowered world conquerors.
[I do kind of like this call-back to the old Fleischer cartoons]
And then this:
Tumblr media
This is officially Lex Luthor.
. . . (sigh). This show is so frustrating to me because it's so close to perfect, but it just never commits to getting it right.
Now, I understand Lex Luthor is a hard character to grasp because he's been completely misunderstood for the past 40 years (and we have John Byrne to thank for that).
I can see how they could spin this into a Breaking Bad scenario–a young genius who feels overlooked and underappreciated decides to become a master criminal to get the respect law-abiding society denied him.
But that's still missing a critical piece of his character.
Lex Luthor and Superman used to be friends.
Tumblr media
(This was written by Jerry Siegel, by the way–AKA the co-creator of Superman)
There was a time when Lex had the potential to be a world-changing scientist, but a rookie mistake by Superboy completely changed the trajectory of his life.
It's only when they had a falling-out that Lex became a criminal because he lost faith that society would ever accept him.
This Lex feels more in the mold of the John Byrne Lex who was just a bad Donald Trump parody.
Tumblr media
It also brings to mind Jesse Eisenberg's pseudo-libertarian Mark Zuckerberg Luthor, which was just the apex of how shallow the Post-Crisis Luthor is.
Tumblr media
Basically Lex Luthor becomes a super-criminal because he has no friends. He's a GD incel.
Tumblr media
Like, seriously, he's just a lonely nerd who denies his insecurities through a hyper-masculine persona, all to distract himself from how miserable he is.
That is Lex Luthor
Tumblr media
That's what makes moments like this so poignant:
Tumblr media
Lex Luthor could be happy and respected if he just let go of his toxic mindset, but he's so wrapped up in his misanthropy, self-pity and self-loathing, entitlement, and blaming of Superman to see it.
I also kind of headcanon that Lex is gay and just massively over-compensates for it, and his fixation on Superman is the same hated obsession incels have with women.
Maybe the show will surprise me, who knows?
I'll still watch it–it's the first solo Superman cartoon in the last 27, so you can't be picky about these things.

you know how trump is so insane that he's kind of impossible to parody? I don't watch SNL but I'm guessing it's back now that it's September. I kind of think they should just play his part of the debate as-is and the parody part can be Kamala Harris's reactions to him. And the moderators' reactions to him. And the average person watching at home reacting to him.
the man himself said crazier shit than an SNL writer could possibly come up with. the funny part was watching Harris try to have any kind of debate with him.

Unpopular opinion but I don't trust Melania. I truly believe she is using her husband for money and fame. And call me old fashioned, but the first lady should be a role model to young women and someone with a porn star past isn't capable of being that. I am NOT saying Michelle Obama was a good role model or anything either, but we can do better. First ladies used to have more class
Melania was a fashion/glamour model not anything to do with porn, the job does include being nude from time to time but it's not really in the control of the model and if they want to keep working sometimes it's what you gotta do unless you have the name recognition of the big supermodels.
And even they do the nude thing if they feel like it, source Robin Thicke's Good Times video.
Side note the Weird Al parody of that one (word crimes) occasionally pops into my head when I'm typing and helps me remember some of the rules of writing and such.
She came from a very modest background in what was still Yugoslavia and managed to catch the eye of some big names while successfully trying to make a name for herself.
Which she did as we all know.
Which in turn made her a whole lot of money, so she doesn't really need Trump for that, be why she signed the Pre-Nup without reservations.
She speaks Slovenian, English, French, Italian, and German fluently albeit with an accent, I can barely manage English some days.
She has a extensive list of accomplishments, has proven to be very smart and capable on her own and as first lady.
There's noting concrete about any degrees but it's pretty clear she's a smart woman given all the other accomplishments.
She was born in a communist country and made her way to the US and managed to wind up the 2nd foreign born first lady in US history.
So she's got some tasteful modeling shots where she's nude, it's not like she worked as a porn actress or even did lewd photoshoots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or are we going to call all this porn too?
She's an accomplished woman who made a big name for herself before meeting Trump and none of the stuff she did as a model is anything for her to be ashamed of at all.
My lifelong democrat dad can't stand trump and wants him locked up for both real and perceived crimes, but the only thin negative he could ever come up with for Melania is questioning her judgment when it comes to picking a partner.
Maybe we should go back to the Nancy Reagan "throat goat" jokes instead.
