When the Rio leaks (re: her relationship with Agatha) dropped, I didn't believe them because I didn't think a Disney-run Marvel would allow for that.
However, in conversations regarding when the MCU might actually the queer, I considered Agatha a possibility - in part because of Kathryn Hahn, but in part because of something else.
In the grand scheme of things, Agatha doesn't matter.
Now, let me explain that, because I love Agatha and I'm loving the show. I don't really think she doesn't matter but—
-sighs-
Agatha Harkness was only supposed to be in WandaVision. She was not intended to have her own show, she was not intended to have multiple appearances, she was not intended to necessarily show up again.
Agatha Harkness gained her own show on the basis of Jac's writing, Kathryn's performance, and the fans' reaction to her.
But Agatha does not matter to the grand scheme of whatever is happening in this saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If she was, Kathryn would have been signed on for multiple things when she signed on as Agatha the first time, Jac would have known early on that she would be continuing Agatha later, etc. etc.
What this means is that a Disney-run Marvel could use Agatha's show as a testing ground for all of the queer.
It's an indicator of what the average viewer wants and enjoys.
If it does well, then the Disney/Marvel conglomerate can feel more assured about future queer content (particularly when it comes to characters like Billy and Teddy and America).
If it does NOT do well, then Agatha and all of the characters herein (minus Billy and Teddy) can be written off because they don't need them for anything in the future anyway. They're just here because the fans loved Agatha and WandaVision. They don't matter.
And it does feel very much like that's what they're doing with Agatha All Along. They gave Jac more leeway to write a queer story, and she's hitting it out of the park, as are each of the actors portraying their characters. They're doing SUCH a good job.
But this really is about audience perception.
So I hope that the show does well for more than just us queers here on tumblr.com.
(And I honestly don't know how to gauge that.)

Can you post more of your thoughts on ai art, I’m intrigued by your comparison to readymades
I don't have super concrete thoughts about ai art, I guess my stance in general is that it's a new tool that is not going anywhere and I actually think many artists past would've loved the opportunity to so honestly and instantly peer into our collective electronic subconsciousness, to pull out the literal stastistical averages of the ways we categorize things by first teaching them to a machine. We can now SEE the proverbial electric sheep of which androids dream.
my comparison to readymades is that like, so many of the arguments about AI art not being art are because it's some sort of frankenstein amalgamation of already-made imagery and pieces [this is functionally incorrect imo, but a lot of opponents of AI in art don't actually know how it works and argue thusly] and i'm just like.. one of the most prolific sculptors, marcel duchamp, literally took manufactured objects and simply put them in displays and called them art allllll the way back in 1914, and it's fucking NUTS to me that this kinda thing is still causing such fierce debate. Like have we not finally realized that art is functionally undefinable? Saying something is or isn't art is complete nonsense. Just say it's bad art, or lazy art, or harmful art.
Then people have the issue with work being stolen to train the AIs.. I think this is valid to an extent, but I also think it's grounds for a wonderful philosophical discussion. For instance--what exactly is wrong about an AI being trained on other people's work? Is it wrong if I learn to draw by referencing artists I love? do I have to get the consent of every artist who inspires me?

Hmmmmm don't like that
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree that social media marketing is out of control and late-stage capitalism is a hellscape in general (but also, this is not particularly new. Back in the 50s the radio ads were all like, "Hey neighbor, buy Clorox™ Baby Formula to be a good, God-fearing American like me, your friend!" and this is basically the same thing)
But uhhhhh something about the rhetoric of "These people I perceive as shills or representative of corporations are inhuman monsterous Unpeople trying to infiltrate societymy social circle to manipulate me" hmmmmmmmmmmm just rubs me the wrong way, ya know, as a Jew,
truly my LEAST favorite form of advertisement these days is the faux-tiktoker/influencer who is here to Sell Me Something. the “omg unbox my Pureology (TM) skincare haul!!!” “doing the #NespressoChallenge!!!” “you guys will not BELIEVE what i got from shein-“ like its scary. its WEIRD. not only do i have no idea who these perfectly manicured, babytalking people are they feel less like real people than even an actual advertiser does. stop trying to make me believe you are my friend. you are something inhuman to me. you are a changeling. you are a brand wearing ill fitting human skin and i see its skeletal shape shift beneath the surface.

average United States contains 1000s of pet tigers in backyards" factoid actualy [sic] just statistical error. average person has 0 tigers on property. Activist Georg, who lives the U.S. Capitol & makes up over 10,000 each day, has purposefully been spreading disinformation adn [sic] should not have been counted
I have a big mad today, folks. It's a really frustrating one, because years worth of work has been validated... but the reason for that fucking sucks.
For almost a decade, I've been trying to fact-check the claim that there "are 10,000 to 20,000 pet tigers/big cats in backyards in the United States." I talked to zoo, sanctuary, and private cat people; I looked at legislation, regulation, attack/death/escape incident rates; I read everything I could get my hands on. None of it made sense. None of it lined up. I couldn't find data supporting anything like the population of pet cats being alleged to exist. Some of you might remember the series I published on those findings from 2018 or so under the hashtag #CrouchingTigerHiddenData. I've continued to work on it in the six years since, including publishing a peer reviewed study that counted all the non-pet big cats in the US (because even though they're regulated, apparently nobody bothered to keep track of those either).
I spent years of my life obsessing over that statistic because it was being used to push for new federal legislation that, while well intentioned, contained language that would, and has, created real problems for ethical facilities that have big cats. I wrote a comprehensive - 35 page! - analysis of the issues with the then-current version of the Big Cat Public Safety Act in 2020. When the bill was first introduced to Congress in 2013, a lot of groups promoted it by fear mongering: there's so many pet tigers! they could be hidden around every corner! they could escape and attack you! they could come out of nowhere and eat your children!! Tiger King exposed the masses to the idea of "thousands of abused backyard big cats": as a result the messaging around the bill shifted to being welfare-focused, and the law passed in 2022.
The Big Cat Public Safety Act created a registry, and anyone who owned a private cat and wanted to keep it had to join. If they did, they could keep the animal until it passed, as long as they followed certain strictures (no getting more, no public contact, etc). Don’t register and get caught? Cat is seized and major punishment for you. Registering is therefore highly incentivized. That registry closed in June of 2023, and you can now get that registration data via a Freedom of Information Act request.
Guess how many pet big cats were registered in the whole country?
97.
Not tens of thousands. Not thousands. Not even triple digits. 97.
And that isn't even the right number! Ten USDA licensed facilities registered erroneously. That accounts for 55 of 97 animals. Which leaves us with 42 pet big cats, of all species, in the entire country.
Now, I know that not everyone may have registered. There's probably someone living deep in the woods somewhere with their illegal pet cougar, and there's been at least one random person in Texas arrested for trying to sell a cub since the law passed. But - and here's the big thing - even if there are ten times as many hidden cats than people who registered them - that's nowhere near ten thousand animals. Obviously, I had some questions.
Guess what? Turns out, this is because it was never real. That huge number never had data behind it, wasn't likely to be accurate, and the advocacy groups using that statistic to fearmonger and drive their agenda knew it... and didn't see a problem with that.
Allow me to introduce you to an article published last week.
This article is good. (Full disclose, I'm quoted in it). It's comprehensive and fairly written, and they did their due diligence reporting and fact-checking the piece. They talked to a lot of people on all sides of the story.
But thing that really gets me?
Multiple representatives from major advocacy organizations who worked on the Big Cat Publix Safety Act told the reporter that they knew the statistics they were quoting weren't real. And that they don't care. The end justifies the means, the good guys won over the bad guys, that's just how lobbying works after all. They're so blase about it, it makes my stomach hurt. Let me pull some excerpts from the quotes.
"Whatever the true number, nearly everyone in the debate acknowledges a disparity between the actual census and the figures cited by lawmakers. “The 20,000 number is not real,” said Bill Nimmo, founder of Tigers in America. (...) For his part, Nimmo at Tigers in America sees the exaggerated figure as part of the political process. Prior to the passage of the bill, he said, businesses that exhibited and bred big cats juiced the numbers, too. (...) “I’m not justifying the hyperbolic 20,000,” Nimmo said. “In the world of comparing hyperbole, the good guys won this one.”
"Michelle Sinnott, director and counsel for captive animal law enforcement at the PETA Foundation, emphasized that the law accomplished what it was set out to do. (...) Specific numbers are not what really matter, she said: “Whether there’s one big cat in a private home or whether there’s 10,000 big cats in a private home, the underlying problem of industry is still there.”"
I have no problem with a law ending the private ownership of big cats, and with ending cub petting practices. What I do have a problem with is that these organizations purposefully spread disinformation for years in order to push for it. By their own admission, they repeatedly and intentionally promoted false statistics within Congress. For a decade.
No wonder it never made sense. No wonder no matter where I looked, I couldn't figure out how any of these groups got those numbers, why there was never any data to back any of the claims up, why everything I learned seemed to actively contradict it. It was never real. These people decided the truth didn't matter. They knew they had no proof, couldn't verify their shocking numbers... and they decided that was fine, if it achieved the end they wanted.
So members of the public - probably like you, reading this - and legislators who care about big cats and want to see legislation exist to protect them? They got played, got fed false information through a TV show designed to tug at heartstrings, and it got a law through Congress that's causing real problems for ethical captive big cat management. The 20,000 pet cat number was too sexy - too much of a crisis - for anyone to want to look past it and check that the language of the law wouldn't mess things up up for good zoos and sanctuaries. Whoops! At least the "bad guys" lost, right? (The problems are covered somewhat in the article linked, and I'll go into more details in a future post. You can also read my analysis from 2020, linked up top.)
Now, I know. Something something something facts don't matter this much in our post-truth era, stop caring so much, that's just how politics work, etc. I’m sorry, but no. Absolutely not.
Laws that will impact the welfare of living animals must be crafted carefully, thoughtfully, and precisely in order to ensure they achieve their goals without accidental negative impacts. We have a duty of care to ensure that. And in this case, the law also impacts reservoir populations for critically endangered species! We can't get those back if we mess them up. So maybe, just maybe, if legislators hadn't been so focused on all those alleged pet cats, the bill could have been written narrowly and precisely.
But the minutiae of regulatory impacts aren't sexy, and tiger abuse and TV shows about terrible people are. We all got misled, and now we're here, and the animals in good facilities are already paying for it.
I don't have a conclusion. I'm just mad. The public deserves to know the truth about animal legislation they're voting for, and I hope we all call on our legislators in the future to be far more critical of the data they get fed.

I'm sorry but I cannottt take americans who fearmonger about a 2nd trump term being a dictatorship that no one will survive seriously. they really treat dictatorships as this mythological boogeyman that will come for their white queer ass personally because they've always been safely removed from the reality of the violence and turmoil that their country routinely instills in the global south. they don't know anything about the dictatorships that the US have supported in my country and many others, only that it's a Bad Thing that is supposed to happen to brown monkeys, not meee. you're okay with the violence the US turn to the rest of the world, and your only fear is that this violence is turned against you - nevermind that the people who have dared challenge this sentiment within the US have had to bear the brunt of this violence for centuries. you will be fine. quit being dramatic and try to learn from people who have actually lived through dictatorships that your shitty country couldn't help but have its dirty hands in

I think it would be one thing if radblr had like, waited to get the proper info on this whole boxing situation but the response has been so confident so fast. When I first saw all the rapid-fire vitriol and transvestigating a couple days ago, I looked it up and the scant few news articles I could find talking about it were saying that she ‘may have failed the XY test’ - like what the hell does 'may' even mean??? So I was left wondering, why is everyone so confident about this with so little concrete information? Oh and shout out to the typical appearance of a daily mail article on my dash!! This whole situation has confirmed my belief that most of this community is just reactionary.
For the record, I think imane being a woc definitely has something to do with it but I think also radblr has been chomping at the bit for a high profile case to bolster legitimacy in the public eye. I understand that in our deeply misogynistic society that nobody takes feminism seriously and that being trans critical is so politically unpopular that it makes you feel like you’re going crazy, but this rushed response reeks of insecurity to me. This palpable community need to ‘prove’ that transgenderism is taking over the world has strong qanon conspiracy vibes to it; we already have a strong and well-supported body of theory and science, and I think what this experience has taught me that we need to be much more engaged with finding each other IRL and actually do something feminist, because otherwise this online community devolves fast into trying to find an alternative focus for our collective passions.
I would love to say that this is the moment where I 'break away from the community' because frankly the optics of this are teeeerrible. But most realistically, given my life circumstances at the moment, I'm not going to be going anywhere. I'll just continue my never-ending quest to collate a dashboard of people who don't share fearmongering and lying right-wing news articles because of an insecurity in their feminist politics that clearly runs so deep that they're willing to run crying to the most infamous publications run by the most powerful white men in the world just because 'well at least they're talking about it!' Give me a fucking break.

This will be my last reply and I wasn't gonna address this directly at first bc I don't wanna risk starting a discourse but I keep seeing people reblogging these tags when 1. I didn't say scrolling past CSAM is illegal and 2. As I sourced in the second post according to experts you DO NEED TO CLEAN YOUR WEBCACHES because it DOES SAVE IT TO YOUR HARD DRIVE.
Alongside that I'm getting more and more people accusing me of fearmongering and lying over things I didn't say so if you could reblog this version of the post instead I would be very grateful.
I left tumblr but I guess I might be coming back soon for real time since apparently Elon's bots ARE POSTING ACTUAL, REAL LIFE CP AND CSA NOW.
Tumblr media
I'm not even fucking joking. There are dozens of people in the replies and QRTs saying the same thing: the "PUSSY IN BIO" bots pots posted actual CP on their tweets.
IF YOU USE TWITTER, DO NOT HAVE AUTO-RECORDING ON, DO NOT STREAM AND MAKE SURE YOUR CACHES ARE CLEAN, POSSESSION OF CP - EVEN ACCIDENTAL - IS ILLEGAL. IF YOU SEE A TWEET HIDDEN FOR SPAM, DO NOT OPEN IT. I'm lucky to not have run into any CP/CSA footage myself yet, but I'm going to be extremely careful and I recommend you all be too. And if you DO happen to run into it, you can use websites like https://tips.fbi.gov/home. report.cybertip.org or iwf.org.uk/en/uk-report/ to report it.
Don't bother reporting it to twitter. Elon's already been exposed for restoring the account of a man who posted real CP. He won't care. He's a demon and twitter has become exactly the way he wants it.
Stay safe and pray for Elon Musk's downfall.

one thing I keep seeing is how systems with fearmonger newly discovered systems into not interacting with the online osddid community, which is stupid.
even if you think that there is a lot of misinformation online about the disorders, which I'm not gonna argue against, you're still assuming what that newly discovered system is looking for.
maybe they're not looking for diagnostic criterias or to sift through their trauma.
they're probably looking for community and personal experiences they can relate to.
which is very obviously a common thing for someone who just realised they might have a disorder is looking for.
support. community. comfort.
when I see a newly discovered system online and they ask where they start on system spaces, advice like "don't look around online, just go to (insert medical website)" is not helpful to someone who needs genuine advice from people with experience in system communities.
so, here's my advice to newly discovered systems :
— you're going to get things wrong and make mistakes. it's inevitable, and it 100% happens to everyone, even if someone's been diagnosed for 10+ years. don't be scared to make mistakes, you miss every shot you don't take.
— if you suddenly don't feel like you're a system, your communication sucks, you are frontstuck/no one else is fronting, don't worry. cdds are covert disorders, their whole intention is to not be found. you're not a liar or faker because you don't experience some symptoms of a disorder. (see this)
— look at what is already largely accepted in medical spaces, don't immediately jump into controversial/conspiracy theories
— start off with safe spaces, trying to participate in discourse when you're uneducated isn't going to end well
— figure out what alters do first, in our case and many others, it's a lot easier to "work backwards" when you already have an idea of what role an alter fills in your system before you try to fully find out their identity
— don't get too stuck up on alter labels, if you're lost on what role an alter has or don't even know what a lot of roles are, just focus on what they do for your system (see above)

Someone once said to me, “Do you always have to be so brutally honest?” to which I replied, “Would you rather I lied?” Which that kind of ended the conversation.
So I’ll be brutally honest with you now, I’m sick of it all!
I’m sick of Biden, Schwab, Gates, Fauci, Ursula, Trudeau, Macron, Hillary, Harari and all the psycho puppets that are being dangled on the world stage as some morbid entertainment, or rather psychological torture!
I’m sick of the LGBTQ narrative being shoved down our throats, of the transgender insanity, the ilegal immigrant invasion, the ongoing fearmongering with new pandemics, the constant threat of global war, the antisemitism narrative, the censorship, the ‘hate speech’ tyranny, the mRNA bioweapons and of the climate crisis bull shit!
I’m sick of humanity being stuck in this endless, nightmare of a loop without a resolution! Without justice! Without sense! I’m done with this shit show!
Always the same playbook, the same script, the same useful idiots, the same evil hands pulling the strings, the same narratives, the same psychological manipulation, the same false flags, the same lies from the media, the same ongoing madness! On and on and on and on…! Until when?!
When will people see? When will people realize that we are caught up in a matrix that exploits our ignorance and gullibility by capturing our perception as a means of control and enslavement? When will people recognise the patterns? The MO and the brainwashing techniques that they’ve been using for decades? When?
How many times must we endure the same narratives and events? The same divide and conquer strategies? The same color revolutions? The same infiltration techniques? The same provocations? The same ‘terrorist’ attacks?!
How many times before humanity finally realizes that we are psychological slaves with an almost fatal case of Stockholm syndrome? When will we acknowledge the problem? When will we start going to rehabilitation?
And no, you can’t say no! That response is not an option, unless we want to end up like that! So it’s about time we ALL try our best to wake up everyone! Speak up, share info, voice your real opinion, don’t be intimidated by the labels, be prepared to lose friends, stop caring what others may think and wage the flag of truth, of common sense, of righteousness and of kindness wherever you go.
Perhaps then we’ll get out of this sickening loop! It’s been going on long enough!
I'm just saying... 🤔

Hey, PSA for anyone who needs to hear it.
There are TERFs and transphobic people, articles, and memes out there who will try to crop post-top surgery care instructions as evidence that you'll have to deal with "lifelong pain and suffering" following top surgery. I just saw one on Facebook earlier that used care instructions saying "do not lift your arms above your head" as "evidence" that you'll never be able to do that again.
These things are lies. It's a good idea, I think, to fact-check ANYTHING you see online about gender-affirming surgeries because there's so much fearmongering out there.
I had my top surgery in July, it was the best thing that ever happened to me and I'm grateful for it every day. While it's true you shouldn't lift your arms above your head or lift more than like 8 pounds for those first two months, these guidelines are, first, standard surgical advice, and, secondly, often given out of an abundance of caution both to keep you safe but also to avoid stretching your scars while they're still fresh so they look better in the long run. My surgeon advised me to move "at my comfort level," and I was moving my arms well enough to wriggle into a t-shirt at five days out and my range of motion got better every single day. Two months after my surgery, my life was completely back to normal, with the benefit of being much more comfortable with my body!
If anyone tells you that top surgery will lead to "lifelong pain and suffering," just know they're either misinformed or being willfully malicious, and don't let it stop you from getting a gender-affirming surgery that you need.
