#i'm not really in the danganronpa fandom right now but i needed to make my point

Very interesting to me that neither "Ultimate Lucky Student" in Danganronpa was lucky in the traditional sense of the word.

It's a bit easier to see with Nagito, though I'd argue that the title fits him a billion times better than Makoto. He doesn't have unnaturally *good* luck, as is usually implied with the word "lucky." He has unnatural *luck,* period. The most unlikely stuff just Will happen to him. A walrus is Going To come ring his front doorbell because of his ultimate talent. He's the improbability drive from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on two legs (well, not infinitely improbable like that, but he's only human, give him a break!)

And by knowing how his ultimate talent works, Nagito can use it as a pretty reliable tool. The drawing straws moment is an example of him using "bad" luck, while in the russian roulette moment he uses "good" luck. But in the end it's all just luck, and creating very low odds of something to happen, which will be boosted to 100% probability in Nagito's presence.

With Makoto, it's a bit harder to see because he doesn't really seem particularly lucky or unlucky at any given moment. (Ignore his surviving the fall into the trash chute, Kyoko also does so it has nothing to do with luck.) But you tell yourself, maybe it's fated luck. Maybe all those little moments that seem like nothing, amount to incredibly good luck in the greater picture, and that's how he succeeds in taking down the Mastermind.

I disagree though. I think that Makoto's actual ultimate talent is being the Ultimate Hope, and that he was miscategorized as Ultimate Lucky Student because he won the draw that one time. I'll tell you who got ultimately lucky the day Makoto won the Hope's Peak enrollment lottery though- the whole world did! The universe had the absolute best luck that day, Ultimate Hope of a person gets to be put in a position so he's there to stop the Ultimate Despair when it shows up. Althoughhhhh, you could also argue that it's Makoto's Ultimate Hope talent that needed the world to be lucky at that moment for things to work out in the end.

My point stands, Makoto doesn't actually have Ultimate Luck because his real talent is being the Ultimate Hope.

So yeah, out of both Ultimate Lucky Students, Nagito absolutely has that talent, it just doesn't show up in the way you'd first expect from hearing the word "lucky". And Makoto, I don't believe he has that talent in the first place.

DAY 4: DANGANTOBER

Day 4: OTP Ship I'll be so real right now, I wasn't big into fandom culture until I started this blog. I didn't read fanfic (still haven't yet, but I've got a few I have my eye on), I didn't make fanart, I didn't make edits, and most of all, I refused to engage in shipping. Long ago, these four stances lived in harmony.

Then everything changed when the Danganronpa fandom attacked.

There are many different ships that I think have so, so, SO MUCH POTENTIAL. But one ship that has stood out to me since the very beginning, was Sakura and Aoi. Immediately, I really liked Aoi, she seems like such a fun and sweet person, I'd definitely want her as a friend. While it took some time to warm up to Sakura, I also really love her, and the more I found out about her in her FTE's, the more I thought she was awesome.

First of all, why do I think they're cute? Well, first of all, they're bestie goals. They work out together, they have little sleepovers, and they always have each other's backs. When everyone doubted Sakura once she was revealed as the traitor, Aoi was still defending her with everything she had. Sakura reciprocates this too, getting very upset when Aoi gets hurt defending her.

They're ride or dies, for real.

I want them to train together, to wear matching BFF necklaces, go out on morning runs, and eat the most adorable doughnuts while watching Ghibli movies.

Chapter 4 of THH is actually so destroying, because Aoi thought that Sakura (I don't know if I'm allowed to say certain words on here) aliven't herself because the others were being suspicious of her and causing Aoi issues. It's no wonder that Aoi wanted everyone to get the blackened wrong during that trial, she was emotionally wrecked there. The fact that it wasn't even really why Sakura did it, it was just Monokuma being a little shit.

While Sakura isn't talked about a lot in the anime, you can tell that her death still affects Aoi, and how she approaches certain situations. Aoi's still a ride or die, but I feel like it's been intensified, because the other survivors are the people she's the closest to.

Taking it back to a lighter note, because Mod Tsumugi needs reminders that not everyone likes to hear about the sad parts of the games, I think they're absolutely perfect for each other, to me, they're an unbeatable duo. In my heart and mind, they're girlfriends having adorable little dates, dressing up in cute outfits, and cheering for each other during their respective sports.

Ooh, let's see. Naturally, my feelings for different fics change constantly, but here's where I'm at right now. In no particular order:

Full Offense to Freud. A We Need to Talk About Kevin fic where Kevin is yandere for the same black OC I used in my most popular yandere Twilight fic. (Actually, the Twilight fic where that OC originates is my most popular fic on AO3 period, and it almost made this list.) I only posted one chapter of this fic so far (which is probably why it makes this list; the Twilight fic has seventeen chapters now, and I feel super proud of about five of them). I wrote it right after reading We Need to Talk About Kevin, and it was just so cathartic. That book was so annoying. (It was entertaining, but just so much casual bigotry and weirdly obvious inaccuracies.) Basically, this fic was partially me arguing with the source material, and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. And my OC Sadie remains a queen.

Property Rights of the Ultra-Talented. A Danganronpa fic where Izuru Kamukura is yandere for Makoto Naegi and locks all the THH survivors in Hope's Peak about it. I enjoy all my Danganronpa fics in different ways, and honestly this isn't the one I reread the most, but this one I just think is where I'm closest to really having the character voices down. Plus it just feels cozier than any of my other Danganronpa fics, in my opinion. The others have a level of rawness that hasn't reared its head (yet? 👀) in this one, and while I delight in the rawness, I find Property Rights to be the most comfortable read.

Ah But It's Cold Outside. A Narnia fic where Edmund replaces the White Witch as an evil winter king and the reader is a new human who enters Narnia through the wardrobe, and you know it's yandere. I think it might contain some of my prettiest prose, at least for fanfiction.

Best Friend's Wedding. (It was between this and Necronaissance, and the latter falls victim to the "more chapters -> more room to disappoint myself" thing.) A Disney Descendants fic about Evie and Audrey forming a deep connection while hiding in a bathroom at Mal and Ben's wedding. It really goes into the politics of Auradon in a way that was really fun to tackle, and their dynamic is just so cute.

Meddlesome. This is a fic that I knew most people wouldn't read, because the fandom for renowned sci-fi author Octavia Butler's Lilith's Brood trilogy is simply not very big, or at least not very loud. Which is fine, because I didn't write this one with the expectation of praise; I just love the series and wrote something about it for myself, and there were still a few people who liked it. right now i'm writing exclusively in the pokémon fandom so like this is my space this is my home

a few months ago i tried branching out into the touhou rpc and like the people there are super nice and i didn't feel left out or anything it's just that joining a new rpc out of the blue like that was kinda overwhelming

i do want to give it another try soon because i'm a really big touhou fan and the people i met there were really nice it just has to be more of a gradual process

i also used to rp in the danganronpa fandom but like it's mega dead right now

as you guys Know i'm more of a comedy guy here on tumblr a lot of my content consists of funny one-liners and crack posts

honestly though this isn't really by choice it's more that i ended up limiting myself in that area because i felt like every time i tried to do something more serious and plot-driven in the pokemon rpc i ended up getting steamrolled

after that hiatus at the beginning of the year i decided that i don't want to let that limit me anymore and i want to write all the serious plots i've been missing out on because at the end of the day i shouldn't be waiting for people to make space for me, i need to be confident about the things i want and push out the people that try to force me into a box while also recognizing that there are others who simply haven't had the chance to see my actual preferences yet, so i've been making a gradual transition into writing more plot-driven content with consistent storylines and being more specific about my canon divergences

it's going slowly but there's no rush

at the end of the day i still love my comedy and light threads but like outside of the pokemon rpc i'm primarily known for angst so i'm trying to find that balance

I will never forgive Kodaka for this) Glup shitto - Tsumugi Shirogane (She's my favorite mastermind I don't care what anyone says about her! Anyone who calls her 'one-dimensional' talks like they're stuck in the killing game behind the screen! But I know better! MY DAD WORKS AT NINTENDO!) Poor little meow meow - Nagito Komaeda (Only considered controversial because of what the fandom has done to this poor guy. He's no doubt one of--if not the--best character Kodaka's ever written, and yet I must helplessly watch as he's reduced to 'haha I like hope and I'm crazy,' which is a huge disservice to his complex and well thought out story. Sadly it's a symptom of him being dragged outside of his context by pop culture.) Horse plinko - Junko Enoshima (I dunno, she probably wouldn't mind it) Eeby deeby - Nagito Komaeda again (I had to look up the exact meaning of superhell for this. And honestly he kinda did that to himself. Now wake up Nagito and go get your man so ya can live on that island together!)

Ace Attorney: Blorbo - Kazuma Asogi (Whoops he stole the top spot from Apollo, but believe me I think about him a lot too, especially cause he wins the relatability category; social anxiety go brrrrrrr. Yet no character has had me go more feral than Kazuma and I still have a TON on my mind about him that I really need to put to written word someday.) Scrunkly - Ron DeLite (MY SWEET LIL GUY! I'd let him steal all my valuables cause he's just too darn cute!) Scrimblo bimblo - Bobby Fulbright/The Phantom (The best final case culprit for the best final case in the entire series, I will not waver in my opinion! Bobby is such a fun detective, nearing the heights of Sholmes, while also being revealed to be the identity-stealing assassin I've always dreamed of. I will run in circles forever thinking about this amalgamation of a character. Now if only he was given any official merch...) Glup shitto - Satoru Hosonaga (If Hosonaga only has one fan then that's me! If there's ever a TGAA Investigations game, he better make a cameo someway somehow!) Poor little meow meow - Matt Engarde (This could've also gone to The Phantom but it fits Matt thematically cause he's very orange cat coded to me. Hi, I seen your match up game and wanted to try it. (I seen your button and idk if I literally have to pay or not but if I do just ignore me, this is my first ask so I’m not quite familiar with this 😭)

Late at night, there's nothing better to do than just come to terms that maybe it's OK to let him do this for you....he's used to taking care of everyone, and he loves you beyond just giving you a moment of mental peace. You both did a lot for a lot of other people, but the both of you needed more help for yourselves, and you know what? You were both just the right person to do that.

Mitsuya Takashi couldn't help but notice how uncertain and tired you were when you first met- but that wasn't all he saw about you, of course. He saw someone else that probably needed a little bit more of support in their life, and your presence intrigued him enough to invest. Eventually, he was over the moon with glee as the profit flew in the moment of realization that hit him and made him realize he'd finally gotten to break past your quietness (which he didn't really mind in the first place, seeing as it gave him room to honestly put all of his thoughts out there for you). Mitsuya appreciates your sense of humor, since no one seems to be able to keep this gloomy world just a bit lighter in conversation. He doesn't mind that you don't express your thoughts much in communication or words or that you're indecisive, because this man has initiative and intuition. Like it or not, he's going to do the best for you and himself. DANGANRONPA

Rantaro Amami, being the adventurous type, even if neither of you knew what to decide about something, Rantaro is the carefree man who will grab your hand and lead you head first into an uncalculated gut feeling and help you make the choices you need. You may...need to keep this ordinary man from making unordinarily instinctive decisions....but only now and then (hopefully you enjoy travel). Honestly, with you being the only quiet one within this horrid killing game, you were the only truly interesting person there. He really does enjoy taking care of others knowing that he won't have to worry for them once he gets the job done. Having taken care of little sisters when he was younger, he knows how to get quite a few things done, so chores are basically an expectation he has for himself that should bare no weight upon your overworked or stressed shoulders. He really won't go away once you show him the thumbs-up in the start of a close relationship, even if he doesn't quite understand how to get you out of your own mind or how to change it. He accepts that by loving you, he's put whatever's to come on himself, and he'll be very much accepting of the (few) decisions you're able to make. He can trust you really easily- it's just others he has a hard time with.
