i finally started reading the high republic books! i finished light of the jedi last night, so here are a few of my (non-spoilery) thoughts:

jedi doing cool shit with the force is my favorite thing and there is SO much good jedi doing cool shit with the force content

also the way the force was described was just, really beautiful. it's been a while since any visual star wars medium has really made me feel in awe of the force, but this did the job so well.

the little worldbuilding aspects were really cool. (hypserspace travel still being developed, bacta isn't mass-produced yet, etc.) this book was just a really nice reminder about how cool and strange and fun the star wars galaxy can be (when actual effort is put into making it that way)

on that note, god it felt good to have good star wars content. like this was SO. GOOD. (and i'm so so excited to move onto the next books, but i kind of didn't want this one to end bc charles soule is such a beautiful writer. and he made every pov interesting and engaging; i was never bored)

i think maybe my favorite pov to read from was bell's. he made me laugh, and soule wrote him in such a way that was youthful but not childish, and it was just such a joy reading his pov. i felt so connected to him immediately, and was so proud of him by the end of the book! can't wait to see where his story goes. (also i love his and loden's relationship and i have SO many feelings about the end of the book like..... iykyk.)

avar and elzar. avar and elzar. AVAR AND ELZAR. they've got me down so. bad. help.....i love both of them individually, and their dynamic together is everything to me actually. (i have so many more thoughts on them, but i’ll come back to them later)

another bullet point to again say how much i LOVE jedi doing cool shit with the force, and relating it to elzar and a) how he describes the force as an endless sea.... yeah. i'm in love w that description; and b) him wanting to push boundaries, explore all that the force is capable, is just really really cool.

the epilogue. I have not stopped thinking about it. like i got yearning and terrifying force visions all in one chapter?? charles soule did that for ME <3

i'm reading the main books for phase one in order, so next up is test of courage, then into the dark. (even though i reallyyyy want to just go right to the rising storm lol)

Like, dude whisked the most important person in the entire Order away from an attack of monsters up into a TREE only to be IMMEDIATELY YANKED DOWN BY A WHIP AROUND THE ANKLE by his top student "rival" from "Merlin school", and then having said rival pull a "touch her and you die" with a SWORD/BLADE TO HIS THROAT, WITHOUT HESITATION????

AND THEN THEY JUST FKN LEAVE BREE UP IN THE TREE DURING THE WHOLE EXCHANGE WITH THE GENERALS BECAUSE "she's safe up there"??? GIRLIE SPENDS FKN 7 PAGES UP IN THAT TREE EYE- 😭😭😭😭💀💀💀 I laugh every time I think about it

Also just Lark, happy and excited to finally meet Bree, having a one-sided argument with an absolutely livid, drenched in shadowborn-goo-Sel while also having a SCOTTISH ACCENT like I can't. It's ridiculous I love it sm hjshjfsdfd

And also the only thing I love more than Lark x William-interactions is fkn Lark x SEL interactions because the mutual respect but also Sel being sassy towards poor Lark who's literally just there to do his job is just incredible. fkn love their dynamic lol

because as much as i love writing my fics and shipping my ships my interest in both of those things is, I think, very narrow and specific compared to most people who are into them? due to my habits being like. very particular

astarion origin playthrough, i've somehow made it to the goblin camp without anyone knowing he's a vamp?

not gonna lie, i'm kinda baffled there seems to only be one scene where you're forced to consider biting your companions? and there's no prompting from the narrator/dialogue to bite people or resist your hunger? in the only origin cutscene i've had, i chose to go after an animal instead of my party because it was literally the first night and it just never got brought up again?

i'm torn between trying to see how long i can keep it a secret vs. wanting to see if i'll get more content and dialogue after confessing.

September was such a difficult month to deal with I ignored my own birthday on my own blog, as I was very busy procrastinating, and in general the day passed by somehow quietly and uneventfully...

BUT! I’ve decided that I won’t stand on ceremony with anyone anymore, so long live the local shock content like this just because I can 💅🏻 All non-icons and non-legends can feel free to unfollow right now, because on sep 27th, the great and incomparable ICON, LEGEND and even LIBRA celebrated his day! - it's Louis XIII❗

Yes, he turned 421 the previous year, he's a relatable miracle and any yellow press about him infuriates the heck out of me (and it'S literally almOST EVERYWHERE WTF even in articles where it's like 50% of actual facts). You probably think "ahh yes louis xiii the noname from the musketeers" and oh boy if only u knew :"((( It is especially sad that in this book, which on one hand at least somehow promoted him, he is still completely different from how he was like irl.

Dumas, of course, is not particularly to blame, but it just hurts me that these stereotypes are so tightly stuck to my precious Louis that many people judge him based either on them or on the shite written by his ancient haters from the 17th century who simply could not make it in p0litics or whatever...

All this seemed to me illegally unfair on every possible level of unfairness, which made me start spreading my love for this historical figure from this little birthday drawing!

I remember how I had much more fun that day than on my own birthday ahaha, I would even say that it was the happiest day of the year. I drew this drawing while listening to "Ballet de la Merlaison" and it was so heartwarming that I caught some kind of euphoria, as if it was my second birhday ❤️

P.S. By the way, "Ballet de la Merlaison" was written entirely by Louis himself and if you haven't heard it yet then whaT ARE YOU DOING PleasE GIVE A LISTen tO MARLESON BALLET THIS IS NOT MUSKETEER MEME THIS IS ETHEREAL 🤧🎶
