Remember when the sims team said Spa Day was one of many packs to be updated?
A lot of us took that promise for a lie, as Spa Day was the only pack to recieve a FREE UPDATE.
It's no secret that EA loves money and when the spa day update didn't result in more money what could they then do? Release the actual updates as seprerated packs (though that wasn't new news with the whole cats and dogs and My first pet stuff). I've therefore made a list over packs I believe is paid updates to other packs bc EA greedy.
So here is a complete list of DLCs which was updates for other DLCs and why
Luxury Party Stuff Pack & Party Essential Kit
Gives itself away. They properly had party essential kit in their system for quite a while if we are honest with ourselves.
City Living Expansion Pack & And Most clothing based Kits + Tiny living Stuff Pack + Industrial lofts
Nearly Every clothing based kit looks like an update for City Living. We are talking Urban Homage, Moonlight Chic, Carnival Streetwear, Modern Menswear, Fashion Street & Incheon Arrivals. Tiny living fits apartment based living and Industrial Loft is a common theme among modern apartments. Industrial loft kit was released before the update announcement, but is definitely meant as an update released in kit form as a part of EA tryouts on kits.
Realm of Magic & Paranormal Stuff Pack & Crystal Creation Stuff pack
Everyone pretty much agreed that Crystal Creation Stuff Pack was fitting into Realm of magic, but it's not the first stuff pack to pull a pay for realm of magic update on us. Before the update announcement, did they release Paranormal Stuff Pack. They already did a lot of pay to update packs before the announcement, but it's more visible now where they announced it nearly 3 years ago... Jesus F.
Vampires Game Pack & Goth Galore Kit & Castle Estate Kit
Again no Secret that two of the newer kits are paid updates for Vampires Game Pack.
Dining Out Game Pack & Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack
Bringing along a new way to run a food selling business, does Home Chef Hustle feel like it was supposed to be a part of Dining Out Game Pack, where you now could run a food stall.
Werewolves Game Pack & Grunge Revival Kit & Possible Basement Treasure Kit
Grunge Revival brings on alike style to the clothing style of Werewolves Game Pack. Which is mostly a shame if anything. Basement Treasure Kit feels like an update of leftover stuff left into a kit.
Fitness Stuff Pack & Throwback Fit Kit
It's clothing you wear when training, it's really a no brainer.
Parenthood Game Pack & Growing Together Expansion Pack & First Fits Kit
A lot of people would argue that Little Campers Kit is a part of this one as well, but Little Campers feels more like a paid expansion to Outdoor Retreat. However I believe that Growing Toegther Expansion pack started as an update to the parenthood game pack, but evolved into it's own. First Fits can also be argued to belong to a game pack all about raising kids.
Perfect Patio/Backyard Stuff Packs & Courtyward Oasis Kit & Desert Luxe Kit & Poolside Splash Kit & Simtimates Kit
Perfect Patio and Backyard Stuff Packs were released before September 2021 (Release of the Spa Day update) and I have grouped them together as one could argue they belong together. It can be argues that Courtyard Oasis wasn't meant to be an update, but taking it's release (May 2021) did EA already know they were going to update packs at this point. They were still playing around with kits by it's release and as kits became a bigger success than they properly planned, it meant they scraped updates of packs more or less all together. However Desert Luxe, poolside Splash and Simtimates Kits definitely feel like they were updates for the stuff packs. Simtimates is more a mixture update but included some swimwear. It can therefor also be argued to be an update of another pack.
Seasons Expansion Pack & Greenhouse Haven kit
...It kinda give itself away so
Vintage Glamour Stuff Pack & Decor to the Max Kit.
Everyone agrees Decor to the max definitely is a pay to update of Vintage Glamour. While it adds no gameplay it adds more stuff.
Pay to update (Base Game):
Wedding Stories (As broken as it is, it sure feels like a pay to update basegame essential)
My first Toddler stuff (Why is this still behind a paywall?)
Knifty Knitting (They literally made it so you need it in expansion packs, so it should be a base game update).
Kids Rooms (Same argument as with My first toddler stuff)
Packs I'm unsure what was an update to:
Modern Luxe
Booknook Kit
Everyday Clutter & Bathroom Clutter
Pastel Pop (Though that seemed more like a collab kit)
The other half of Simtimates Kit
Blooming Rooms
Debatable pay to update packs:
Spooky Stuff - Released before Vampires, realm of magic, werewolves and seasons, yet feels like a pay to update to those 4 packs.
Movie Hangout and Bowling Night Stuff Packs - Feels like updates for Get Together in terms of themes.
Snowy Escape - Feels partly like an update to seasons filled with winter activities.
Laundry Day and Bust the Dust - Feels like they belong together due to theme. Could potentially have been updates to Cats & Dogs and/or Vintage Glamour which introduced the butler as a part of cleaning tasks.
Cottage Living & Horse Ranch - Many debates that Horse Ranch should be a part of Cottage Living - which tbh is properly true. When making a farm focused pack, properly should you know... remember to make it one pack.
Dream Home Decorator - Definitely a game pack on it's own, but could also be a part of packs like City Living.
Cool Kitchen Stuff Pack & Country Kitchen kit - Had Cool Kitchen not been released before Dining out could it had been a pack on it's own. Country Kitchen was released before Cottage living, yet feels like they took some stuff out of Cottage Living which was released about 4 months later. Country Kitchen can also be argued to belong to Dining Out due to the kitchen focus, however I strongly believe it was some items from Cottage living that they took out.
Island Living & Eco Lifestyle - We get one pack where you clean an island and have to preserve it, shortly after they release Eco lifestyle which is about green energy, reusing things and so on. Of course the theme of the stuff in Eco living doesn't match those of Island Living, however they properly got sparked from the same part with the protect earth part.
I've got nothing else. At least this is how I view things. This may have been shared before by other simmers. But I always see people be highly annoyed every time a "Pay to update" release, and tbh very fair. They are pay to updates kits and stuff. As someone who knows a bit of the gaming industry and have done research on the spiral EA started for AAA companies to never finish their games... yeah. But it's also not unknown that EA can have DLCs and their updates sitting around for years depending on whether they know they can earn more money or it or not.
I recommend really to never buy EA based games if you play on a pc of any kind. They have even begun giving less successfull packs away for free in hope to get there more successfull packs sold even more by grabing people into the game by showing them a little bit of what they miss out on when not buying DLCs (And it works and it hurts)

Okay hot take, but I wouldn't mind if adult Timmy doesn't appear in FOP A New Wish.
Maybe it's just me, but I think it'd be great to have some ambiguity to his fate.
Think of it like the fate of the Baudelaires in ASOUE, at the end of The End, the audience doesn't know their fate. However, it's up to the person's imagination to create their fate. Sometimes, we won't get all the answers, and it's up to the audience to fill in the gaps.
I honestly think it'd be for the better for the show to continue the stories of a couple of OG characters to further the plot, except for Timmy.
Mainly because I'd like the show to continue on its own merit, not just for the nostalgia of showing the OG characters we've seen.
For example, I like the direction that we've seen so far, allowing a few OG characters to return to have an actual impact on the plot, and it feels natural to their story.
A.J founded the Galaxa Institute
Crocker is a janitor at the Institute still with a fairy obsession
Vicky is a birthday princess who terrorizes kids when the adults aren't looking
Again it's a hot take for a reason. I'm aware that I'm in the minority here.
