I return. YEAH that makes sense. I DO remember some of that, I haven't looked up Ink's lore in so longgg, I was raw-dogging it. But yeah reading this is like having all those memories flood back into my head!!

I remember speaking to someone a long time about how meta that could get. Because in theory, if a creator wanted, say, error to destroy their au, that would be in the story of it no? I'm not well versed enough in him to go too deep into it. But I remember that part of the conversation.

AND YEAH!! He doesn't know about his background, I forgot about that too. I can see how that could create conflict with dream. Dream always has cared far too much after all.

But I'd imagine dream wouldn't care much about himself being viewed as a character but others. But it also depends on where on the timeline dream is at too.

I do think dreamtale is a fairytale in the sense that undertale is a game. There IS no outside world in dreamtale, it's just the village and a neverending forest. But no other sentient life.

Just like how there's no 'outside world' in undertale, at least not to the player.

Besides I think it fits with Dreamtale, it doesn't take place on earth or anything like earth.

It's surroundings are like a dream. The village is small but big! There are a lot of people but also little to no people.

There's as much as there needs to be for the fable.

I usually don't go with the whole 'every universe is a game' thing because I don't find it fun.

But I do think it's interesting if dreamtale was a folk tale. A story passed down through generations about the sins of judgement. But like, real.

It's an actual place.

This is probably going to get buried and I don't think anybody really cares this much but I wanted to share some pictures and text blurbs from all the Claude Rains biographies I have concerning Casablanca.

This movie means so much to me and it was something my grandmother and I used to watch and discuss. She could never remember character names but always knew my favorite was the little guy in uniform. She passed about a week ago but I would always try and keep her in the loop with all the things going on in the world of Old Hollywood. When she was a child, she remembered seeing outdoor screenings of the films and where she lived, it was more expensive to have the films dubbed so she'd learned a little bit of English along the way from her favorite movie stars.

Every time I'd visit, we'd sit down to watch something new and just having a buddy to ramble about was the best. Rick's Cafe was always a place I'd feel at home at, so I just imagine she's waiting there at our usual table until we can both hear "As Time Goes By" and bet on 22.

thinking about my bad things happen bingo card....thinking about compelling voice - whatever is happening on the ship, mccoy isn't affected because mirror!spock started a bond w/ him, and when the mental attack starts mccoy's brain reaches out to spock and spock feels it and immediately shields him with the broken bond, but like maybe.....has to finish the bond to do so? maybe spock isn't physically near mccoy? maybe it's actually pre-existing mckirk? maybe spock is say on a landing party with KIRK when it happens, and he has to explain what he just felt/what he just did to kirk? and mccoy is hmmm not having a good time of it, but he's at least not being compelled/remote-controlled like the rest of the ship is maybe? and spock and kirk have to find a way to get back onto the ship with mccoy's assistance? perhaps with kirk pushing for spock to do the same bond with him to ensure he won't get mind-jacked, and spock being like......so.......this is an uh................mating bond....................

also still trying to decide on a good villain for terms of endangerment. I'd say khan but I'm already using him for the scarpia ultimatum one. i keep going back to gary mitchell, but i'd really have to wibbly-wobbly timeframes, OR I'd have to bring him back. but the idea of him being kirk's ex and fucking with mccoy to hurt kirk is.......something, maybe.

i agree. i get comparing them (with humor) in a sense of "ooh they gay they died", but they have zero similarities :'') even the stories of their tragedies are very different. i think people may be misinterpreting it, without much regard to the plot, as

a) starry-eyed big dreams guy (jayce/achilles) and his

b) less sociable sidekick (viktor/patroclus)

or plain "himbo (j/a) and tired college student (v/p)" trope which is even more lost in translation. idk, that seems like where it'd go. there's a route to oversimplifying things that some people tend to go down when they idealize their ship because it fits the criteria to some of their favorite tropes. appearance also plays a big role in these things unfortunately, but that's an entirely different rabbit hole.

e.g., yes, neither jayce nor achilles is a himbo, but because of faulty connections, they are being classified under such. neither viktor nor patroclus is depicted as "the grumpy/chronically tired one", but because they show traits (perceived or otherwise) similar to a trope's dynamic, they are given that label, thus, compared and concluded similar.

perhaps the impression that patroclus "is a twink" from readers of the song of achilles, has aided them in likening him to viktor, who does not have the masculine body type of jayce. again, there is the oversimplification phenomena of, "they must be similar in size/build" because the patroclus from the aforementioned book refuses to fight, when in fact it was implied he was built like any other greek soldier. thus, people must imagine him as being like viktor, who has a noticeable hunch, pallor, and spindly limbs that could also have been a product of the latter's disability.

it's like they don't care much about the story-- their focal point is the shipping, which blurs out the bigger picture, and then the oversimplification i keep mentioning, happens.

anyways, again, this is my interpretation and i'd love to hear about why various sides are saying what they say 👌✨ i just don't believe in the absence of a thought process in even the most lacking conclusions. it exists but it's wired weirdly lol

I've been obsessed with the Iliad since 2019, and I've read a lot, and I mean A LOT of essays and books about the Iliad and about Achilles and Patroclus more specifically

So I guess you could say I kind of understand Achilles and Patroclus a bit

And my question is, what does Achilles and Patroclus have in common with Viktor and Jayce other than they're men and gay? Like no seriously, what?

Because, the core of Achilles and Patroclus' story; the most important part it's that they're soldiers, I can't even tell you guys how fundamentally important is that these guys are soldiers

And a big part of Jayce and Viktor's story is that they AREN'T soldiers, they're scientists! And literally a big part of Arcane would've been very different if both of them had stayed scientists instead of becoming a politician and Jesus

Achilles and Patroclus' story is tragic, because Achilles chose his pride over Patroclus

Like Patroclus' death? 100% avoidable, wouldn't have happened if Achilles had stopped being a baby for once in his life and actually listened to Patroclus and went back to fight

Viktor and Jayce's story? Literally about Jayce choosing Viktor over everything else, About Jayce choosing Viktor over Mel, his mom, Cait, Piltover, magic, etc etc

At the end of the Iliad Achilles' hubris is punished by the story taking away the love of his life

At the end of arcane, Viktor is forgiven, Jayce and him get to be together, doesn't matter if it's in an alternate dimension or super gay heaven, but it's a hopeful ending

So the complete opposite of the Iliad

Listen, I love both Patrochilles and JayVik, but these two have almost nothing in common

Something I've been thinking a lot about lately is how everyone thought Egon had gone insane. What Happened that made them think that. They've fought a gigantic Stay Puft Marshmellow Man TWICE (counting the 2009 video game because iirc it's canon? Correct me if I'm wrong), fought an interdimensional god, fought a blood thirsty ruler that killed thousands and was hated by all that was trapped in a painting (and managed to get in to beat him by making THE STATUE OF LIBERTY start walking down the street with slime that reacted purely based on vibes), found an underground abandoned transit system full of the moodslime, had a bathtub try to eat Dana and her baby, fought a giant murderous black widow lady, fought the fisherman ghost who turned an entire hotel floor into the bottom of a ocean, and that's not even mentioning them getting trapped on an island that randomly raised up from underwater that had been abandoned for decades created by Ivor Shandor who worshipped Gozer. So what did he do or say that made everyone else think he'd gone insane?? All I can think is maybe he was acting strange / eratic before, but he's always been like that to some degree.

I don't know. It's something that I've been thinking about. The correct answer is 'it's not that deep and they needed a reason that the others weren't together anymore and weren't aware of Egons death or know what was going on,' but also. What Was He Saying that prompted everyone, including Ray, to think he lost his mind when he'd been right almost every time before that.

I'm genuinely so curious as to what he was up to before this. What was he doing. What insane idea was working on prior to this or was he even working on anything at all??

Also want to clarify this post isn't negative 😭 I really love the newer movies and their lore / the newer storyline / characters, I just like thinking about small stupid things like this. Gives me something to think about / speculate about / figure out an answer to.

David 8

So David 8 has always been so intriguing for me. He's an android an artificial being who's programed to feel and be like humans. And yet he's a bit human at times. His childlike curiosity of things he finds interesting like Shaw and her dreams about her father. Or his favorite movie and later on the black goo and what it could do to various lifeforms.

He's a bit human most times because of the curiosity until it gets morbid.

Oh and yes I do believe he did love Shaw in his own morbid ways of course. See when Weyland was alive David needed to follow his directive which was make Weyland happy and do everything and anything he says to make that happen. But then he died and that essentially made him a "free man". The purpose of his directives are gone and now he can have his own directives for himself and not for anyone. He can satisfy his curiosities without consequences of delaying Weyland's wishes because the old chap is dead. He can do what he want. And he did in fact do all he wanted.

Even Shaw was not safe from his selfish wants. When he developed deep seated love for her after she put him back which was a long time coming as he's always favored her the most for her little kindness towards him unlike the other crew or Weyland and Vickers. She'd thank him despite it being his job. She's not unnecessarily mean to him like everyone else. It made sense why he'd love her. To experience kindness is to eventually crave it. Pine for it. And to David, Shaw was probably the embodiment of it because he never experienced it from anyone other than her.

Because he's emotionally immature and obviously his programming has been tweaking long before shit hit the fan he doesn't really know how love works. He doesn't know that love is about caring, and respect for your loved ones. David doesn't know how to love others because Weyland doesn't either. Weyland only loves himself and prioritizes all his wants over everyone else's even his own daughter. It once again makes sense why David is the way he is because he's as Weyland quoted "And I made him in my own image so he could be perfect. So he would never fail."

David is a much worse Weyland I guess?? Just more committed to experimental monstrosity because he's more intelligent. My guess is that after spending time with Shaw and experiencing her kindness over time he started to delude himself that he's something special to her. He means something to her like Holloway meant something to Shaw. He deludes himself into thinking they're some sort of couple. And what do life long devoted couples usually have? A baby. Or Children.

So like a man thinking a child would fix things between him and his wife he thought of making Shaw a mother once again. Something Shaw would never be but most distressingly became one because of an alien babe. But this time he would be the father not Holloway. So he experimented on her, he was creating "life" from her parts and making her more resilient as well. Keeping her alive for her to witness their perfect "children" come to life. Eventually she succumbs and dies, which leaves him distraught. Which is why we get the scene of him crying in Covenant when he talks to Walter near her grave. She was never meant to die, she was only meant to mutate so she wouldn't die when he took from her. She was supposed to be with him forever with their "children". Yet she did and even then he doesn't regret mutating her, he'd probably thought of going about it another way to ensure she lives but he'd still experiment on her.

David's new directive is his wants and not even his love could stop these directives, he wanted to create life with Shaw as they both couldn't on their own. He couldn't be a father because he was an artificial being and Shaw couldn't because she's infertile. And because he thought Shaw wanted a baby, so he was going to use her to create their baby. Their special baby. I think that's also why he reacted so strongly when the neomorph was shot at because this was his baby with Shaw. One of the only things that carries Shaw is these monstrosities he's created from her. They're a reminder of Shaw and his brilliance.

Does anybody have pages 5-8 or 19-21 of pancaketiffy's Nautical Disaster anywhere? And does anyone know if the comic was ever continued past page 23? I wanna see if I can archive it somehow.

UPDATE: Did some more digging and found pages 19-21 (though two pages are labeled as page 21, which seems like an accident but they are two different pages, I'll have them listed in order,) as well as a 24th page. My guess is that that was the last page that was publicly released, but again, if anyone knows about pages past this point let me know.

So now all I need to find are pages 5-8, and any possible pages after 24.

UPDATE 2: Found page 7, so that leaves pages 5 and 8.

Like, if merlin is (or was) a human, their childhood was so long ago that it's just become either, too irrelevant to be remember or too far gone to even begin remembered

If merlin was NOT a human, then their existence was born out nothing and will never have it, they don't have a beginning just like how they don't have an end. (yes this seem a bit far more of a reach but hey a food of thought)

But if they were a human, that means with each amnesiac episode merlin not only lost memory, but also sense of identity, every. single. time.

And that somehow even more tragic to think about,,, no wonder Satrana can't see anything, what there to see if you can't even pin point where your life start? When you live as countless of different person? What there to see really if you're made of a myth?

Those thoughts kinds eating my brain rn,,, each cycle or each amnesiac episodes it's like merlin born anew , and that's very fucked up cuz he could forgot himself and everyone again the next day...
