GOD I NEED A GIRLFRIEND SO FUCKING BAD

So according to you, there is no right and wrong of sex, sexuality and gender? So someone can be a male cisgender woman? A lesbian cis man?
You are talking about two completely different concepts here Anon. What I said was that sex ≠ gender. That means someone's sex is not linked to their gender.
I didn't say anything about sexuality.
Sex ≠ Sexuality - who you are attracted to is not predetermined by your chromosomes. A woman can be attracted to men or women or nonbinary people etc. She isn't limited to only liking "the opposite sex" - that's heteronormativity.
Moving on.
"Cisgender" means "person whose gender matches the sex they were assigned at birth". In this case, "cisgender woman" is a woman who was assigned female at birth, still identifies as being female, and who identifies as a woman. Her gender identity matches her assigned sex. So in most cases, if you see "cis woman", she is female.
The exception to this is interesx folks, who may have their sex misidentified at birth or whose sex is complicated, so in that case you could have a cis woman who was assigned male at birth or at some other point in her life. She could be a male cis woman. Intersex folks are allowed to identify as cis if they want to.
But I mean, if a cis woman who is female wants to identify as male, cool. How she identifies is not your business.
And here we come to one of the queerphobe's favorite boogeymen, the "lesbian cis man". Has anyone actually ever met this man before? And I don't mean the guy sitting in the back of his college 101 class joking he's a "lesbian", or 4chan trolls, or cis men misusing dating apps - I mean, has anyone met a cis man who genuinely feels he is a lesbian? I'd like to meet him, I bet he has some fascinating takes on gender and sexuality.
You know what you sound like when you cry about the hypothetical "lesbian cis man"? You sound like pro-lifers going "WoULd YoU aBoRt a bAbY tWo SeCoNdS bEfOrE BirTh??".
If you're a cis lesbian woman and a guy comes up to you and you don't want him hitting on you, just be a grown up and use your words and say "no". Just like you'd turn down anyone else you weren't interested in. Like. I just don't see how this is hard. If he's openly identifying as a cis man, it's pretty easy to say "No, sorry, I'm not into cis men". Being a lesbian doesn't mean you're obligated to date anyone who identifies as a lesbian, that's not how sexuality works. How HE identifies is irrelevant.
If you're a lesbian, you're not attracted to other people based on their sexuality - "lesbian" is a description of your sexuality. You're attracted to people based on a bunch of things - how they present themselves, what gender they are, what political party they are etc. Someone saying "I'm a lesbian" does not mean you have to entertain their advances. Hell, someone saying "I'm a woman" does not mean you have to entertain her advances, either.
Who you choose to interact with and date is 100% of your choice.

I think like… if Dean was ever stuck in a woman’s body for a bit bc of a spell or something.
1) She wouldn’t only accept being a girl, but would completely not understand the innate genderfuckery, because Dean Winchester has never perceived any difference between gender identity and appearance/presentation. If you’re a girl you’re a girl, if you’re a boy you’re a boy, “trans” means you want to be the other one. If gender ≠ physical body then why do trans people transition etc (not my personal opinion to be clear. Just how I think Dean would see it)
2) She would suddenly have no issue openly being with Cas, because Dean Winchester does NOT like dudes, which means she’s a lesbian, and according to google lesbians can be attracted to anyone who isn’t a man including nonbinary and agender and all those new genders and stuff, and Cas isn’t a man, he’s an angel or whatever he even counts as now, and if you’re a dude it’s gay to date anyone that isn’t a woman, but if you’re a chick it’s still lesbian to date anyone that’s not a dude. And Dean Winchester really needs everyone to know that she’s a lesbian. She might even ask Cas what gender he is and get him a pride pin with some flag she’s never even heard of so that everyone knows that Cas is some kind of other Gender and Dean is a lesbian. She’s not into dudes. She’s not straight. (The internalized biphobia gets seriously tragic here, bc the shit bi wlw face….)
(Eesh that got a bit too real for a second)
I also think she’d still go by “Dean”, because cool tough butch lesbians having guy names is really hot and probably some kind of turn-on her tbh, she probably grows her hair out just long enough to slick it back, and rocks up to places with greaser hair and bad smoky eyeliner and lip gloss and tight jeans and boots and a low cut tank top with the leather-coat-over-flannel hanging half off her shoulders, and the thing is that it absolutely works and other lesbians just fall all over her, either out of attraction or envy. …Dean is taken, though.

Can I please hear some thoughts about your takes on the main 4?
Just anything on your mind I love hearing your thoughts :>
oooo good ask actually, I've been so focused on developing Dr. Hare and Binary Bard that Black Widow and Captain Crawfish haven't really crossed my mind all that much 🤔 Doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about them though! I've just been brain-rotting about Hare and Bard more cause they're my comfort characters
My brain's a little scrambled right now to really go into depth at the moment, but I'll give you a few heacanons for each!
Dr. Hare ~ Autistic/has ADHD, or heck even both, and loves to info-dump about his interests to anyone willing to listen,, I'm just projecting at this point ~ Has fants(fur pants), his fur is very soft <3 Sucks in the summer, though ~ His little rabbit tail wags when he's really happy or excited about something, or info-dumping about something he's really passionate about 🥺 ~ He's envious of his pre-villain self, he wished he could go back to that young naïve version of himself, way back before the harshness of reality had a chance to crush him like it did and caused his villain totem to develop. Though at the same time, he wonders if that version of himself would hate him for who he's become, and if he would even want to associate himself with him in his current state. ~ What happened to him wasn't an accident
Binary Bard ~ I headcanon him as a masc-aligned nonbinary guy, he/they pronouns but he's cool with just he/him or they/them. I, personally, just call them what I see him as in the moment like I do with myself and my own OC's with pronoun sets like that ~ Speaks in binary to really aggravate others sometimes, just for the sake of being cryptic, or sometimes to say something he doesn't want to say directly. Luckily for him, the other three are accustomed to this and have learned how to translate it by now. ~ Knowing the things he did while under the influence of his villain totem has left him with sleeping issues, often laying awake at night feeling guilty and wondering what he could have done differently. ~ During his time controlled by the totem, it had altered his personality entirely, essentially turning him into the complete opposite of the calm inventor that usually kept too himself, he hates the person that totem turned him into. He especially hates what it made him do too his loved ones.
Black Widow ~ Black Widow and Betty Jetty are absolutely dating. Power lesbians. ~ I headcanon she became Black Widow because throughout her entire life her artistic talents were always pushed aside and belittled ever since childhood. Beautiful landscapes and still-lives eventually turned into warped portraits of herself when her totem came about, and she sought out to make the world see and recognize her talent. ~ *Rubs my gay little hands* Transfem Black Widow ~ After her totem was destroyed, she almost didn't know how to adjust to domestic life, it even scared her a bit, but with the help of her little ex-villain friend group they all learned to adjust and reflect on themselves together, which helped ease her fears. Now she's essentially like the group "mama bear" and "cool aunt" both wrapped in one.
Captain Crawfish ~ His totem came about after a previous crew he was captain of was lost at sea after a rival crew from Skullduggery sunk his ship. Survivors guilt and anger spawning both his totem and his hatred for Skullduggery, wanting to steal every bit of treasure they have like they stole his crew from him, whom he treasured as his own family. This eventually turned to stealing whatever treasure he could get his hands on, with it temporarily filling that void his fallen crew left behind, and when that feeling would wear off he'd set off for the next set of treasures in a desperate attempt to fill that void again, and that cycle would continue. ~ After his totems destruction, it took him a long while before he felt comfortable enough to return to the seas, still feeling awful about his lost crew and fearing another crew would be taken from him if he started sailing again. But, like mentioned in Black Widow's section, he and the others all learned to cope together and he eventually did return to sailing. ~ He's honestly rather protective of the other three, them being the only ones he's felt particularly close too since his first crewmates. He'll never admit it out loud, but he doesn't want to lose them like he did his crew.

7, 14, 21, and any one you wanna answer but haven't for the violence
7. What character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?
Probably Kya. I didn’t see or have any problem with her in the show. she seems cool. But with the Kya/Lin ship, it’s like how I said in this ask with how Korra and Asami are put in masculine/feminine roles in their ship. I’ve found that happening with them, too, and often people will treat Linzin as comphet and I honestly can’t cope (lol) or get with that HC. To each their own, but separating myself from that side of the fandom has helped.
14. That one thing you see in fics all the time?
This will be a repeat from this ask, but villainizing of certain characters without a legitimate reason for the sake of pushing a shipping agenda. The hate on these characters that’s OOC spills out into fandom calling them all these nasty names. If the people in fandom refreshed themselves on show, they may see the hate is baseless.
Guys, close the fic, stop drafting the hate rant you’re about to post, unclench your jaw, and consider rewatching the show or go outside. Either or at this point.
21. Part of canon you think is overhyped
Probably the Linzin breakup.
In the show, Lin was able to make light of it when she said, “You should have seen Air Temple Island after Tenzin broke up with me.”
Now the details of their relationship and breakup are left up in the air but let’s imagine this:
Being in a long term relationship with someone you’ve grown up with. This person was someone you’ve developed with over the years from friends to lovers and you could have likely imagined a life with.
Then, all of that is ripped away when they break up with you for someone significantly younger, allegedly his “soulmate” who stuck out their chin to confess. An outsider of a relationship who came in with the promise of being better.
That hurts.
Lin destroying ATI in the breakup should be more than the audience going, “Ooh, way to be a badass earth bender, Lin. Tear it all up!”
That energy came from a place of hurt, betrayal, and not feeling like you’re ever going to be enough for anybody.
*Now, this comes with the huge caveat we cannot do completely fair comparisons of the two ships, since that would involve considerations of timelines and how Linzin being endgame from the start would have impacted their lives.
Still overhyped, regardless.
Oh I love that last one! I’ll go with 24. Topic that brings up the most rancid discourse
Korra and Asami’s sexualities. OMG you guys! They are bisexual. An attraction to someone regardless of gender. They can date each other, yes. BUT—
They can date other women. They can date men. They can date nonbinary people. Crazy concept, right? Apparently.
All of those and then some are valid shipping options. There is ZERO need to come for a creator for not wanting to put Korra and Asami together. There is actually zero need to go and hate on a creator point blank, but I digress.
Also just because a ship is canon, doesn’t make it superior. It is only one of infinite possibilities. That is putting too much weight in the writers’ decisions in their storyline with the endgame ship.
Thanks for the asks!

me: it's weird to me to think about the fact that liking girls sometimes was the cause of so much pain and suffering in my life when now it seems like all i do is think about men. gross.
alana bloom from nbc hannibal (my therapist in my mind): why do you say it's gross? a lot of people would say attraction to men is ordinary.
me: yeah, it's boring. unless you do it in a gay way. then it's cool. and most people would not say that i do it in a gay way.
alana bloom: would you say that you do?
me: i don't think most people would get the way i see my own relationship to gender and sexuality if i tried to explain it to them. that's honestly the best proof that i have of being trans, because only other trans people actually get what i'm going for. most people would say i'm a woman who likes women and men, which isn't really accurate.
alana bloom: well, who cares about "most people?" if your understanding of your gender and sexuality is different than theirs, it seems like you're able to accept that. and sexuality isn't set in stone, either. i mean, i used to like men.
me: yeah, but then you got better.
alana bloom: mmm, i got severe spinal trauma. but back to the question. what's with that description, that thinking about men feels gross to you?
me: i mean—not really gross. i do like men, like, unironically. it's just not very cool.
alana bloom: so it's cooler to like women than men?
me: yeah! i mean, look at you! and literally every lesbian on the planet! it's SO much cooler than liking men.
alana bloom: thank you, on behalf of lesbians. it's nice to be cool.
me: you're welcome.
alana bloom: but if liking men is uncool, what does that matter to you? is it important that you're cool?
me: well...it's more that being cool just isn't realistic for me. like, i'm scripting out an imagined therapy session between me and a fictional character right now.
alana bloom: fair point.
me: and that's true for the men i think about as well.
alana bloom: they aren't cool?
me: no, well—no. they aren't cool. i like them even more when they're a little pathetic. i think that's my type. but they're also not real, most of the time.
alana bloom: like me.
me: yeah.
alana bloom: so it's a fantasized version of men occupying your thoughts. imagined men.
me: yeah. imaginary pathetic men.
alana bloom: is it interfering with your life?
me: no. i'm not really trying to meet actual men right now, anyway. or any person, of whatever gender.
alana bloom: then i think you're fine.
me: no, i mean, like...i know it's fine; that's not really a worry for me. i just wonder what it means. you know, in my head, trying to analyze patterns on my own.
alana bloom: before you pretend to sit down with me, you mean?
me: yeah. and i have a theory.
alana bloom: oh wow. you leaned forward and looked really excited when you said that.
me: because i love theories. and i have one. well, maybe two, actually.
alana bloom: pen's in hand. shoot.
me: i think the reason i think about men all the time is either a personal gender/sexuality thing OR a patriarchy/freudian thing. or maybe both at once, a little bit. so for gender/sexuality reasons, i think i want to be with a man in a gender-affirming way where it's a little gay in any direction since i think i'm nonbinary, and since in my crush/dating history i've only ever dated girls or future girls, i kinda want the other side of the spectrum to feel like a Real bisexual. that would explain why i latch onto that type of relationship in fiction so much, because i want it for me. and for patriarchy/freudian reasons, i think i'm looking for male validation because everyone kind of is on some level, and i'm anthropologically fascinated by men and want to understand them. and i think on some level i want to process a deep dark tangle of weird-ass emotions about my father through a fulfilling romantic relationship with a guy who is like him but also completely not like him. you know?
alana bloom: ...sorry, one second...
me: oh no, yeah, sorry. that was a lot of words really fast.
alana bloom: don't worry about it. ok, got it. so...we can dissect these if you want, but i have a question first. did forming these theories settle the question for you?
me: kind of? they're only theories. but having a guess is better than having no clue, i think.
alana bloom: and was this helpful for you?
me: i guess. it's something i do automatically.
alana bloom: it's rational to want a theory. but you may also be rationalizing.
me: ...yeah, i know. it's not great but i can't turn it off.
alana bloom: part of therapy is figuring out what may be behind our decisions and habits, and you're good at that. you do that part of my job for me. but the other part is working to change our consciousness and accomplish a goal. so what do you want to accomplish?
me: i guess...i want to stop feeling shame whenever i like someone. real people, not...well, maybe the made-up ones, too, honestly. i want to be able to actually have a sexual relationship at some point.
alana bloom: with men specifically, or...?
me: anyone. it's always embarrassing and weird and scary when i get close and i wish it wasn't.
alana bloom: you know, there may be something we should revisit here, actually—remember what you said a few minutes ago? at the start of this session transcript?
me: not exactly. i'd need to scroll up to see it.
alana bloom: you said that liking girls caused you pain and suffering. you were referring to discovering your sexuality and coming out, right?
me: yeah. i guess that was like...a seriously traumatic thing for me, when that didn't go well.
alana bloom: do you think it could be a sunk cost feeling? like, "i felt so hurt after being told that i didn't really know that i liked girls, and now that pain was for nothing?"
me: ...i know that, like, the spiral of effects after that day wound up being about way more than just that. there are a lot of things that my parents would never understand about me and the way i see the world, and that gap gets bigger all the time. but since that was the one thing i thought i would never tell them, then yeah. i guess it feels like it was all for nothing if i spend too much thought on men, or something.
alana bloom: see, the thing is that your feelings—your internal experience—have nothing to do with how your parents act. assuming responsibility for their bad reception of your sexuality puts you in charge of controlling them.
me: ...ooh, you...therapist...
alana bloom: you can't always be ahead of the game.
me: i'm still writing your dialogue, dr. bloom. this might not count as you outsmarting me.
alana bloom: but you surprised yourself, right? whether i'm real or not, therapy is about helping to lead you to your own realizations. you may have wound up in a similar place with a session in real life.
me: i should still maybe talk to a real person, at some point...no offense.
alana bloom: none taken. i'm a plot device.
me: sorry. it still seems like that's a bad thing to make someone into.
alana bloom: why me? if you could indulge my curiosity a little.
me: i always liked you in the show. and it seems like out of all of the psychiatrists, you would be the one most likely to actually do the right thing and help someone safely.
alana bloom: thank you. i should tell you, though—psychiatrists prescribe medication and don't generally run talk therapy sessions like this.
me: oh. shit. do, uh...do you think i need medication?
alana bloom: probably not.
me: sorry. i wasted your time.
alana bloom: i'm not real. you just said you were writing my dialogue.
me: ...right...
alana bloom: should we wrap up here?
me: probably. i'm pretty sure the reason i wrote this was because my friend angel made a joke about telling her therapist hannibal about haikyuu.
alana bloom: wow.

Can I be that guy and just say all of the above for Luna for that s/i ask game?? I crave lore lmao
(@3lectro-heart)
PASSES AWAY THANK YOU,, okay <3!!! i, too, crave lore (btw our s/i's should be friends. conflict of interest, who's she??)
(feel free 2 scroll if you dont want Spell of Luna Lore Blast)
1. what are the basics of your self insert? name, date of birth, height, etc.?
Luna Cooper is my Tiger and Bunny S/I!! They use she/they pronouns (leaning more towards they/them) and their birthday is September 21st! They're about 5'5'' (~165 cm) tall. Most of Luna's personality is taken from my own awkwardness and sarcasm.
2. when in canon does your self insert come in? do you have a scene in mind for your entrance?
Ironically enough, I'm working on that! I'm a little behind, but the fic 'Luna Cooper's Terrible* Week' involves the first few scenes between them and my f/o, Kotetsu! Luna is an office worker on the south side of Sternbild, working for a not-so-reputable energy company when they're suddenly flung into the world of heroes by complete accident (sorry, Luna, guess we're making friends now..)
Timeline-wise their entrance is set somewhere post-season 1/The Rising and pre-season 2!
*Did not feel like typing out the entire title
3. how do the other characters generally feel about your self insert?
For the most part, Luna puts on a very shy and socially awkward outward appearance, so I think one of their closer friends would be Ivan, and Barnaby would be another close friend that would help Luna come out of their shell more! Not to be cliche, but the entire first league would ABSOLUTELY tease Kotetsu for his crush on Luna
4. would you be considered a main character, side character, villain, or something else?
1000% side character - noooo I dont wanna be dragged into the spotlight nooo !! -luna, probably (will get dragged into being a main character against their will)
5. does your self insert have any special powers or abilities?
Luna's NEXT power is temperature control! They've had it since they were little; it first manifested when Luna had a raging fever when they were young and they managed to break it without any help - now their power is used in pretty mundane ways, like heating up coffee or cooling off a room. It's usually not a very big area of effect, but it's still pretty useful!
6. does your self insert have any pets?
Just one - a long, white cat with blue eyes. Her name is Snowdrop and she's Luna's emotional support animal! They got Snowdrop just before they dropped out of college.
7. would any other characters (besides your f/o) have a crush on your self insert?
I think a lot of other characters would have strong platonic or familial feelings for Luna; they'd see them as a younger sibling or someone to protect.
8. what is your self insert’s orientation?
Nonbinary and bisexual! Just like me frfr
9. who are your self insert’s closest friends?
Like I said earlier, Ivan! Barnaby and Karina would also take a more 'older brother/sister' role when helping protect Luna from the villains.
10. how do the other characters feel about your self insert and f/o’s relationship?
Barnaby: Are you going to tell them or do I have to?
Kotetsu: ???
Ivan: You're so obvious...
They'd definitely want both of them to confess ASAP so Kotetsu can go back to focusing! on! the mission! C'mon, we don't have all day!!
side note: now I want to write a one-shot where Ivan uses his power to turn into Luna; then Kotetsu practices asking Luna out with Ivan + the others (this would be hilarious)
11. what kind of outfit(s) does your self insert wear?
Sweaters and jeans, for the most part! Due to their NEXT power, it's honestly a little hard for them to regulate their own body temperature - especially if Luna tries to adjust a large area. Extreme colds and extreme hots tend to make Luna feverish, so they try to dress for the weather (which may include many, many layers)
Luna also wears glasses (my only s/i to do so) but they also have contact lenses for if glasses are too much of a hassle
12. how would the fandom view your character?
Knowing fandom, they'd probably infantilize them. Luna gives off a very shy energy, but they're also quick-witted and sarcastic - also super good with organizing events, managing people, implementing ideas, etc - so there's a lot more to Luna than just their social awkwardness!
13. does your self insert have any information about their family?
Yes! Luna's an only child, with an extremely overprotective mother (Saffire) and father (Clint). They don't have any siblings, and any extended family is distant.
14. what hobbies does your self insert have?
Video games! Luna loves JRPGs and otome games - they tend to bring their Switch with them to work on occasion - Kotetsu finds out about this and Luna is a little embarrassed, but they teach Kotetsu how to play a few games as well!
15. how does your self insert play a role in the plot of the story? do they help directly defeat the villain, support the heroes, etc.?
Same with being the side character, Luna definitely wants to play a supporting role. They're happy being a manager or running to get coffee!
16. freebie! name a fact about your self insert you want everyone to know.
Luna struggles with affection a lot, so whenever Kotetsu is like ">:3c i am going to hug you now" they just. absolutely bluescreen early on in the relationship

Hiii please don't answer if this question is too much but I was wondering what your experience as a trans person existing is like? Rn I'm cis passing and low-key making me miserable but the anxiety of how I would b treated in the world is so so so scary so I guess is it hard? Are you treated any different? Especially the non-binary thing bc that's me too <3
haiii as always i write fucken essays so its below the cut lol
well first of all i can only speak to my own experience, which is obvs influenced by the other parts of my life like my location/class/race/sexuality/personality/etc, it difficult/impossible to distill what "being trans" is like without factoring in everything else.
but anyways, i'm extremely lucky to have had the security to come out and be open about my transness since i'm surrounded by really excellent people. when i came out i was 14 and didn't know any other trans people, and it sucked, but i feel like even in just the past 6ish years there's a LOT more visibility for trans people than there was back then, and obvs i was young and had a lot less personal autonomy at the time. but my friends were all really cool about it and my parents were chill as well, and i went to a good high school where my teachers were respectful (i got misgendered by other students but once they were aware of me being trans they usually stopped) so i honestly didn't face that much external difficulty because of my gender.
the period between coming out and medically transitioning was rough a lot of the time tho, just because of the frustration of trying to be seen a certain way and the world never seeing you that way, at times it felt futile to even try and for a long time i really wished i wasn't trans, because being trans had never brought me any joy, so i didn't have pride in it the way i could with my sexuality, as it had only ever caused me pain (whereas my queer sexuality had lead me to love, sex, community, etc). but those were internally-driven feelings, not anything specific in how i was treated except for generally living in a world that didn't see me as myself, but that's also true when ur not out. it took a lot of fighting to be seen, and learning how to make myself happy.
since coming out, though, its been really really amazing. meeting & connecting with other trans people, dating other trans people, helping other people figure out their gender identities by being myself around them, making art about being trans, etc, is very rewarding, and obvs u can do that without being "out" too.
emotionally its very fulfilling, like jesus christ medically transitioning once i was an adult was so fucking awesome. i hadnt realized how much not being visible as my gender to other people was holding me back and distressing me until it stopped. even though i had socially transitioned earlier and been respected by people around me, it wasnt until i went on hrt and had top surgery that i felt really really good about existing as a trans person, when i could exist at any time in any space in any clothes and be seen how i wanted to be seen, and felt like my body was as it should be.
i don't really get treated differently tbh, most people don't readily assume ppl are trans so upon meeting me people just think im a queer guy, and i only bring up being trans when i want to & feel ok doing so. being nonbinary some people are bad about using my pronouns but i honestly dont care much. every once in a while i have to explain gender stuff to people but again i dont mind. its def more annoying than if i was a binary trans person but meh.
there's some annoying/anxiety-inducing stuff like dealing with extended family, doctors appointments, legal documents, and situations where i feel like i have to try to be Stealth, but those are rare compared to my everyday life where i'm genuinely just vibing.
i completely respect trans people who don't want to be out for whatever reason, but personally i've found it to be very rewarding and i can only imagine how miserable i'd be if i couldn't be open about my gender.
tldr; it's hard while you're figuring yourself out, but if the people around you are generally good, it's extremely awesome to be able to be yourself and transition!

team rocket headcanons … sock em to me
yeas okay 🥰
ive said this like 50 million bajillion times but james is full of tgirl swag as a nonbinary/genderfluid woman
she's amab, and went on hrt for a little over a year between late OS and early hoenn. she decided to stop cuz at that point she was comfortable with her changes, especially her voice. though still her voice is fairly low and she doesnt exactly conform to the norm of what a woman looks like, her relationship with her gender is something only she can really understand and she loves who she is
the first person she came out to was jessie- while when she was a little LITTLE kid before she knew about identity technically it was nanny and popop cuz she would constantly ask to wear dresses and "pretend to be a girl" (🥚) BUT during the bike gang days (runaway daze) jessie was who she first told about how she felt. later in OS then theyre in gay love james comes out again which at this point in time james has had nearly all of themself beat out of them by you know who. kidnapped from sunnytown a year later they were basically converted back to "normal". though knowing this was wrong, it still stuck with james that those years of questioning when they were a teen was just a phase, and repressed as much dysphoria as possible. anyways on with the point i made a comic about this that is kinda ugly at this point but its about how james comes to terms with the fact that theyre not male
WHY DID I WRITE ACTUAL LORE I MEANT TO WRITE QUICK LITTLE HEADCANONS
anyways um. back in runaway daze jessie dated tyra and james was with chopper, who are the two cool bike guy and girl from that episode... tell me they werent in gay love i dare you
jessie and cassidy are exes (DUH) and cassidy was the most serious relationship shes ever been in. cassidy picked her up from the worst month of jessie's life when she failed nursing school and practically lived in alleyways
jessie's first pokemon was a starmie that she found washed up injured on the beach and nursed back to health as a child. its kinda and unexpected first pokemon for jess but its just a nod towards her weird bizarre "i was a ninja girl" bullshit story where she had one
james' last name is morgante, her parents' names being giorgio and eliza. her stupid italian dad owns a billionaire tech company called morgantech, he is basically pokemon bill gates
meowth is jewish
in journeys meowth ends up adopting a galarian meowth born in a wet cardboard box all alone. it tells him its name is scrimblo, and he takes it in as his own son with every disease. scrimblo has stunted growth and is stuck kitten sized for eternity, with a tail completely unaffected by the stunted growth so its just a giant bushy tail on a little rat creature
in sun and moon jessie and james got married, and mareanie got to be included in her own little veil and getting to stand at the altar too and give james a poison kissy
more sun and moon things, they have a pickup truck jessie named "the milf mobile" that is kinda run down. james found it overgrown in the woods and took it to the treehouse, then repaired it with their magical engineering skills. they regularly drove ash where he needed to be or straight up just took him on drives where he sat in the bed of it
after journeys the trio quit and go back home to alola, where they work on opening a place called "mama ki's malasada cafe" instead of just a food truck. the trio and twerps also work on expanding their treehouse for jaime, as well as expanding it for the pokemon they brought with them from HQ
over time their little treehouse area becomes a bit of a wild pokemon center- injured wild pokemon would come over to receive help, and word would get around in wild pokemon communities that its the place to be. a few pokemon jessie bandaged later and the whole place is a zoo
meowth always wanted to be a dad, but cant have eggs of his own despite being afab. he quickly grows attached to baby pokemon and pokemon eggs, and even has a soft spot for human babies. THATS WHY IM A MEOWTH GETS TO BE A DAD TRUTHER AND HE GETS SCRIMBLO
ive seen some headcanons around this and while realistically it makes sense the trio would all be like... i guess normal people drinking? but here here here i. how do i explain that theres this certain bit of lore in my canon where human people have the blood type of pokemon types rather than A or B or whatever... what im saying here is james is a poison type. this means they can digest and take in an absurd amount of toxins with no effect to their body. now what does this have to do with anything you ask... one way the trio would get quick cash was make insanely high bets at bars for drinking contests, and bets on james winning, completely unfair because james can drink an amount of alcohol that would kill a man and her body just thinks its yummy juice. so theyd pit james against some tough guy and have them drink, only for james' opponent to lose cuz of the unfair advantage. so, jessie and meowth grab their unfair bet money and go blow it on a mecha
on the blood types thing also, jessie is fire. she is very warm to cuddle like fever level warm. she has fangs duh and also claws cuz im a monsterfucker but im just gonna excuse my behavior with worldbuilding
growlie has severe trauma due to obvious reasons having seen the things done to his best friend, so when meeting jessie he sees a similar face and cant clearly enough tell the very visible difference between her and jessebelle. it took him a while to get used to her- if she so much as layed a hand on james to get their attention, growlie would start barking and push himself between the two
sorry for this sentence but harley is jessie and james' twinkish sugar daddy
james grew up in the south and has a southern accent that theyve managed to for the most part get out of their system. but its not that easy and when theh get angry or yell at all everyone can hear it. they get made fun of a lot for that
jessie uses honey shampoo, which is part of why stufful clung to her hair besides the scent of mama ki.
jess is also the malasada queen and thats one of her favorite treats. she loves snacking and chewing is a huge stim for her. her favorite food is anything with either honey or soy sauce. shes also obsessed with fried rice
meowth is the team's adult i guess i should say, even though jessie and james are adults meowth is the one whos maturity is that of an adult. he helps them through most problems and helps them with things like driving. it was actually meowth (a cat) who taught james (a human) to drive
I KNOW THATS A LOT I HAVE SO MUCH MORE BUT HERE YOU GO

19, 22 and 23? :^)
19. What is the one thing you hate most about your fandom?
Tbh there are a lot of things I hate, although by this point it's only very certain parts of the fandom that have these problems, since most of the shitty people have lost interest by this point. If I had to choose just one thing though, it'd be the overwhelming focus on white, male characters over female and/or characters of color. And there are a lot of areas where this shows up. One major example is that a lot of people like the idea of Connor, Hank, Gavin, and Nines (all white, male characters, mind you) staying at the DPD even after:
The DPD was the one (along with Cyberlife) responsible for the deaths, arrests, and brutal treatment of androids, the main oppressed group in the game's world
Connor and Nines are a part of that oppressed group, and at least Hank is shown in game to support them
Connor has already worked at the DPD and was routinely called an "it" (which as someone who is nonbinary and has been called "it" knows how insulting that can be and understands the need to get away from situations where that happens), was allowed to be sent to his death by, and was routinely harassed and nearly murdered, or in some playthroughs actually murdered, by workers at the DPD (*ahem Gavin ahem*)
Hank (if he is your friend) risked his career just to cause a distraction for Connor to keep him alive
Just because the android revolution was successful doesn't mean the DPD was going to follow that. I mean, the androids were heavily compared to African Americans in this game, and we all know how the current police system treats them (and if you don't, pay attention to the news, like, ever. Also read Jim Crow as that book is very informative on the oppression of blacks in the entire incarceration system as well as before and after that)
So I hope it would be pretty obvious to any sane person that suggesting these characters would join/remain in the DPD after everything is offensive on all sorts of levels.
In addition to that, you also have some people saying that they only cared about Connor's story, or that his was the only good one. The female protagonist that risks her own life several times to save that of a child (no matter if she is human or android)? Not important. The (half) black protagonist who is shot by police, has to rebuild himself, and leads his own people to freedom? Who cares? The only important story to these people is the white, male, cop android who spends most of his time hunting down the good guys. And if some people honestly prefer Connor's story because of their own reasons, that's fine. And yes, Kara and Markus's stories have lots of problems. But Connor's does too, and none of this gives people an excuse to ignore the other characters, especially since they are the minority characters. Then, there are also the people who say Connor's machine path was better than his deviant path, or that him being replaced by Nines in the end was unfair. And... what the fuck??? I mean, I get it, it's fun to play through different options, and Connor is hella badass in the machine path. But he is also hella badass in the deviant path (killing the guards in the elevator, possibly the team at the bottom if he doesn't catch the security camera, fighting Sixty, walking in front of all the androids he freed, like, come on), and he also, like, has morals and isn't oppressive??? In the machine route, he kills his own people, including those who just want to be free and might have been completely pacifist the entire way through. So I'm sorry, anyone who thinks his machine path is better is just looking for an excuse to be oppressive without openly admitting it.
Then there's the Gavin apologizers. While fanon Gavin is awesome, some people have way overstepped the line of redemption and allowing oppression. I've seen posts defending Gavin's in-game behavior, just because he refers to androids as "he" on occasion. This is despite:
Suggesting "roughing up," or being violent to Shaolin (the HK400 in "The Interrogation")
Insulting his partner, Chris, when he doesn't forcibly move Shaolin against Shaolin's will
Pointing a gun at Connor after Connor rightfully says to stop touching Shaolin for both succeeding the mission and for Shaolin's sake, and only stepping down after Hank points a gun at him and even after insults Connor
Punching Connor right in the thirium pump regulator and then pushing his head right where his LED is in the break room if Connor refuses to get him a coffee
Insulting and threatening Connor in the same scene even if Connor follows all of his demands
Insulting Hank's alcoholism in the Eden Club "it's starting to stink of booze in here"
Purposely pushing Connor to the side in the same scene
Trying to literally murder Connor and admitting he'd wanted to kill him ever since he first saw Connor, sometimes successfully
Both physically and verbally assaulting Connor
I forgive very easily and strongly believe in redemption, don't get me wrong. But trying to excuse Gavin's behaviors is so inexcusable, especially when most of his aggressions are towards androids, the oppressed minority.
Now, let's look at Ao3, shall we? Let's see how many fics posted there are with each of the "main" (including Gavin and Nines since even though they are not main characters in canon they are in fanon) characters... (also, keep in mind, I gathered this data about a month ago so it might not be completely up to date):
Connor: 16,150
Markus: 5,395
Kara: 1,504
Hank: 13,135
Nines: 9,807
Gavin: 9,939
Amanda: 1,177
Chloe: 1,521
North: 3,056
Simon: 3,192
Josh: 1,965
Alice: 1,098
Luther: 848
Rose: 193
This means that certain characters get unequal amounts of attention:
White: 59,042
Black: 9,578
Male: 60,431
Female: 8,549
White, Male: 52,223
White, Female: 7,179
Black, Male: 8,208
Black, Female: 1,370
Well, this says a lot. Now, some people reading this might realize that there are more white and male characters to begin with, so it could be fair even with their numbers being higher. So, okay, let's see the average amount of works a single character in each of the above categories would have (so divide each of the values by the number of characters in that category) (also I rounded to the tenth place aka first decimal point):
White: 6,560.2
Black: 1,915.6
Male: 7,553.9
Female: 1,424.8
White, Male: 10,444.6
White, Female: 1,794.8
Black, Male: 2,736
Black, Female: 685
If anything, these are even more telling. And if you don't believe me, look on Ao3 and calculate these yourself, because you'll get the same thing.
To be clear, I don't have anything against Connor, Hank, or any of the white and/or male characters. I even like the way that the fandom has redeemed Gavin. But the fandom has not done the same job of redeeming other characters, especially the minority ones, and pays way less attention to them, and that needs to be called out with evidence by someone.
Anyway, I spent a LONG time on that first question, so I'll try to make the next answers shorter!
22. Popular character you hate?
There aren't any popular characters that I thoroughly hate. The only characters I hate are ones that are already highly unpopular (Todd, Zlatko, Perkins). If we're talking canon characters, I do hate Gavin with a flaming passion. I mean, he is meant to represent police brutality. But fanon Gavin is cool with me, so I'm not sure exactly how much this counts.
There is one semi-popular character that I dislike though, and that is Kamski. I'm half-counting him again because within the fandom there are very mixed opinions. I personally dislike him mainly because of his treatment of one of his Chloe's: he is willing to let her get shot in the head and killed just to find a dumb answer to his Kamski test just because he feels like it. If Connor doesn't shoot Chloe, he tells Connor he's deviant, knowing full well that Amanda and Cyberlife are watching being the one to design the program, endangering Connor. While he arguably is responsible for deviancy and wants androids to succeed, that doesn't make up for those facts.
Another character that half-counts is Daniel. There are mixed opinions within the fandom on him as well, with some arguing that he is only wanting to not get replaced and protect himself. However, since his first response was to kill the dad, and then he proceeded to shoot at least 3 more cops, killing 2, and hold Emma, the young girl he had been friends with for years hostage, even though she had nothing to do with his replacement. You can't argue that he didn't want to kill Emma and only used her as protection for himself, either, as there are multiple endings where he tries and sometimes succeeds in killing Emma, even when he is also killing himself. I'm not closed to a redemption arc for him, but his in-game actions are inexcusable. He's the one deviant who truly has no valid defense for his actions.
23. Unpopular character you love?
There are a few. I absolutely adore North, Josh, Adam, and Alice, even though the fandom has conflicted opinions on them. Then again, none of these characters are really considered unpopular, just not as popular as others with a select few that don't like them. With North, I've been in this fandom since a few months after its release, when there was a lot of North hatred, and was actually in a group called the North Protection Squad lol. However, now most people like her, and she's really grown in popularity. With Josh, it's less that he's hated, and more that he's ignored. People say that Simon was the peaceful option when he was really the neutral, and recently I've seen more people against Josh's opinions on the revolution. While I don't always agree with Josh being so passive and undemanding (neither do I agree with North's violence), he's still an awesome character with some very valid points. Then, I do understand why some people dislike Adam, as at first he's against androids and almost reveals Kara and the others. However, if you meet him at the border crossing, he apologizes to Kara and changes his mind, promising to help androids. While he may start out scared and not on the right side, he does have a good heart and ends up making the right decisions in the end. With Alice, I haven't seen many people hate her, either, although I have seen some saying she's annoying and lacks a personality. I agree that she lacks a personality, although I argue that's the writers' faults rather than her character's (as are problems with other characters, I mean David Cage wrote this so what were we expecting). I also don't think she's annoying, as after all she is only 9 (in human terms), doesn't admit she's an android because she's scared Kara will reject her (and Kara actually can reject her for being an android, leaving her completely on her own in a world that wants her dead. Also, living her whole life with Todd can absolutely not help her feel more secure with who she is or make her trust Kara to still love her for it), and she is only cold and feels sick because her model of android is literally designed to replicate human sickness and discomfort (and it's clear she doesn't know how to turn them off, because even after Kara knows she's an android Kara still has to help Alice not feel cold anymore. Also, this is November in Detroit, in which the average temperature is 42°F (5.6°C). There are also scenes where it is snowing, meaning the temperature is below freezing. Still, despite the temperatures, in some scenes not having a coat, and feeling sick, she says Kara and Luther can't stop because of her, risks her life to save Kara's if you fail QTEs, and says she's "fine" even when she's cold to comfort Kara. So if you think she can be annoying, yeah, all 9-year-olds can be. But if you think she's annoying enough to actually hate her, idek what to say).
In terms of characters that are really unpopular, I actually like Leo. His actions at first are inexcusable. I mean, accusing Carl of loving an android more than hin, insulting Markus and treating him as less than human, threatening him, breaking into Carl's house and attempting to steal his paintings for drug money, and framing Markus for Carl's death leading to him getting shot and nearly killed are obviously not okay things to do. However, he is clearly on drugs, specifically red ice, the most dangerous drug in the world. Also, if you decide to push Markus leading Carl to still be alive, when you return to Carl's house, you can find a message Leo sent to Carl in which he apologizes for everything and promises it won't happen again. In the extras section, you also find out Carl missed out on Leo's whole childhood, only first meeting him once he was much older. Given that Carl spends all of his days pleasantly conversing with Markus while ignoring Leo, not calling him, only talking to Leo once he comes around himself, and doesn't even argue when Leo says Carl doesn't love him, it's almost fair that Leo thinks the way he does. Since he's also high on drugs throughout the story, at least up until Markus gets shot, we also know that the Leo we see isn't the real Leo. Later, if Carl is dead and Markus visits his grave, he encounters Leo again. This time, when Leo sees Markus he is only shocked. Now, off of red ice, not only is he going to see Carl's grave, expressing love for his father, he also doesn't try to hurt Markus, insult him, or anything mean or dehumanizing. His expression lacks any signs of aggression. It was only when he was high that he was such an asshole. Although that doesn't excuse his behavior, it does give a reason for it, and by the end I consider him redeemed.
~~~
Wow... that was a long response to a very short ask. No need to read all that (although I would highly suggest reading my first answer, at least, since that does contain some very relevant points). Although then again, if you've made it here, you've probably already read all that. In which case I would love to hear your opinions if you're willing to share (as well as anyone who sees this!) I guess I just had a lot of opinions that I needed to put out in the world lol, so thank you sm for the ask!!!!! 💛💛💛
almost every puyo~tet single-character headcanon wie have
every character we've put more than three minutes of thought into are gonna be in this post. this *does* leave out a lot of characters, but still includes so many that hopefully that'll make up for it. ^also i forgot about this entirely while writing and tried to add a few characters i literally never think about everat all so you get extra funny commentary i guess
welp! enjoy the ride. and dont forget to like, comment, and subscribe (/lh)
warnings: mentions food, implied self-harm, delusions (not inherently triggering but still), general violence, some madou-era content, death. (more to be added + ask to tag) none of the things mentioned are in much detail.
Madou Monogatari / OG Puyo~Puyo characters:
Arle – 16 (chronologically 20 due to the Madou time stop but doesn’t realize it), has PTSD and ADHD + nonbinary transfem + sex-repulsed and questioning (she/he/they)
Assorted headcanons:
-Her armor was made into a sort of magical puberty blocker by her grandmother, who knew Arle was trans and wanted her to live her life to the fullest. -Although she has never been in an (official) romantic relationship, she’s usually the first person her friends go to for relationship advice. -She stims a lot, usually by twirling her hair around or jumping.
Relationship headcanons:
Partners: She’s in a vaguely romantic relationship with Serilly. “Vaguely” as in they go on dates frequently, kiss a lot, and would live together if they could, but neither is sure if they are actually dating. Friends: She adores Ringo and Amitie and wants to protect both of them – not in the super creepy and sorta patronizing way, but in the “she really cares about them and their well-being” way. Despite thinking that Schezo is an absolute fool at times, she still cares about him quite a bit. She’s come to regret what she did all those years ago, and is determined to make sure that Schezo never remembers it.
-
Schezo – ~200, has ADHD and PTSD + transmasc + homosexual (he/it/gore)
Assorted headcanons:
-Although he can be away from his sword, it’s bonded to his body so strongly that if he is too far away from it for too long he becomes incredibly weak. -He borrowed a thesaurus from Aya and Klug and is not planning on ever giving it back. -He doesn’t remember a single thing that happened before Puyo~7, and can hardly remember anything from then until Puyo~Tetris 2. -After learning about tone indicators, he begins to put “/nx” at the end of *all* of his messages online. Although a few people make fun of him for it, many people find it either endearing or some form of cool, and he’s affectionately known as “the /nx anon” in a few social circles. -His main special interests are forging and dark magic (good for him <3)
Relationship headcanons:
Crushes: He has a slight crush on Lemres, and thinks that Incubus is.. interesting. He also thinks Witch is cute but can’t tell if that’s a crush or what. (Good) friends: He considers Arle to be his best friend, and she’s usually the first person he’d go to for anything. The two actually lived together for a while. Although he thinks Rulue is a fool at times, he still cares about her and thinks she’s pretty impressive. Enemies...?: He once was always looking to pick a fight with Satan, but after (rather awkwardly) remembering that he once saw the prince as a father, he mostly stopped doing that.
-
Rulue – ~40-ish?, experiences delusions + cis lass + questioning (she/her and a few neopronouns)
Assorted headcanons:
-She’s not sure why there are so many people who are like her and at this point she’s wondering if it really is just a coincidence. -She secretly wishes that she could join Arle, Schezo and Witch’s arm-wrestling sessions, but as they’ve been going on for so long without her she feels almost awkward asking. -Although she still experiences delusions sometimes, she’s gotten a lot better at telling what’s true and what’s false.
Relationship headcanons:
Partner… sorta?: She’s sort of in a QPR with Raffina, and they go on platonic dates a lot. (Good) friends: She’s quite good friends with Arle, especially since she’s no longer chasing after Satan. Speaking of Satan, as she’s no longer absolutely obsessed with him she’s actually beginning to get along well with him, and the two regularly have friendly battles.
-
Witch – >16, might be NT + cis lass + omni (she/it)
Assorted headcanons:
-The only thing she can transform people or things into without help of a potion is mushrooms. -She’s surprisingly strong and quite good at arm wrestling. -She’s not sure if she had any sort of neurodiversities, but she doesn’t really care either way.
Relationship headcanons:
Crushes…?: She might have feelings for Arle, but even she doesn’t have any clue. She’s also.. interested in Feli, as she sees Feli as quite the interesting person. Family: She’s an orphan, although she doesn’t mind it. (Good) friends: She’s okay-ish friends with Schezo, and the two usually do arm wrestling matches with Arle in their free time.
-
Satan – ~3000<, only god knows + cis trans man (somehow less than a joke) + pansexual (he/it)
Assorted headcanons:
-As he’s so old and has changed his physical appearance so many times, he’s completely forgotten his original sex, if he even had one. -After getting very literally schooled by Raffina, he realized that his plans to acquire Arle were just never going to work, and after a while of self-reflection he decided that he’d rather spend the rest of eternity doing other things he liked than chasing around an underage lass. -Due to having completely remade the world himself, he feels almost completely disconnected from it. All the people he used to know.. aren’t the same, and it’s destroying him.
Relationship headcanons:
Partners: Misses his dead wife a lot, but is now happily dating (nd half-joke married to) Ex (Chosen) family: After Satan had a good long think about everything, he realized that he did actually care about Lidelle a lot, and now properly sees her as a little sister. Friends: He’s on good terms with Rulue and actually properly hangs out with her sometimes. -
Serilly – >16, has anxiety and experiences delusions + trans lass + questioning (she/her)
Assorted headcanons:
-hgnggng operea
Relationship headcanons:
Partners: She may or may not be dating Arle. (Chosen) family: Although she’s presumably an orphan, she has Suketoudara, who she sees as an older brother figure. Best friend: She platonically loves Harpy a lot, and the two of them spend a lot of time together. - Suketoudara – ~30, NT + about as cis guy as a fish can get + polysexual (he/him)
Assorted headcanons:
-I literally do not think about this guy
Relationship headcanons:
Sibling serilly
Puyo Fever (2) characters:
Amitie – 14 and a half, autistic + binary transfem + fem-leaning panromantic (she/fae/flare)
Assorted headcanons:
-She found out that she was trans when she was 7 years old, and managed to convince her parents to let her transition when she was 12. -She taught herself how to bake, and Arle taught her how to cook more salty things. She regularly makes lunches for her friends, even if they already have their own. -She cares a lot about Sig’s ladybug friend and usually “babysits” them when Sig has to leave to wherever. -Raffina and her are the only two with two parents who haven’t divorced and/or died, but as Amitie's parents are almost always at work she doesn't get to talk to them very much. -She stims by twirling her hair when it’s long, or squishing a puyo-shaped stress ball when it’s short.
Relationship headcanons:
Partners: She’s in a QPR with Sig and Klug, and says she wouldn’t give it up for the world. Crushes: She has a huge crush on Ringo, and a squish on Ess, but she doesn’t think either of them feel the same way. (Chosen) family: She feels rather lucky having contact with both her mother and father, as most of her friends don’t have contact with their own parents. Also, she looks up to Arle a lot, and sees them as an older sibling. Friends(?): Nobody can tell what exactly her relationship with Raffina is, but the most common theory is that they’ve kissed at least twice. Even during Lidelle’s fight with Sig, Amitie supported her, knowing she truly did regret her actions and it was mostly just a big misunderstanding.
-
Klug – 14 and three quarts, autistic and has ADHD + transmasc nonbinary + ace/aroflux (he/they/wir)
Assorted headcanons:
-Although he had initially asked to be called by neopronouns just as a joke, he found he actually liked the wir/worm set a lot, and now tends to go by that exclusively on some days. -On one night he doesn’t remember, all of his cosmetic glasses were mysteriously destroyed, along with all his contact lenses. After that, he stuck to just one pair of functional glasses -He was gifted an “EiPod” by Ringo and Amitie, although only the latter took credit for it. -He stims by humming, writing, and aggressively cleaning his glasses.
Relationship headcanons:
Partners: He’s in a QPR with Sig and Amitie, and secretly wants to leave Primp and travel the world with them both. Chosen family: He sees Feli as both a rival and a sister, and now has come to see Lemres as an older-sibling figure of sorts. Friend: He’s on good terms with Lidelle, and she’s one of the only people who’s younger than he is that he still treats with respect. Rivals(?): He thinks Raffina is pretty rude, and he never lets her go without remembering that he’s better friends with Amitie than she is for more than a month.
-
Sig – 15, autistic and has ADHD + transmasc demilad + biromantic (he/bug/they/it)
Assorted headcanons:
-Doesn’t consider any sort of bug to be his “favorite”, but has a soft spot for ladybeetles, stag beetles and fireflies. -After a failed attempt at acquiring Sig’s power, Aya accidentally gave Sig half of its own power, causing Sig to become slightly more than just a half-demon. -After he scratched himself one too many times, Amitie and Lidelle worked together to make a glove for Sig’s claw hand. -His main special interests are both bugs and history, and he usually stims by repeating words he likes.
Relationship headcanons:
Partners: He’s mostly queerplatonic, partially romantic partners with both Amitie and Klug. During the first half week of their relationship, he was the only one the two felt comfortable cuddling with, which he was completely fine with. Family: Although initially Sig and Aya were almost enemies, they managed to reach an agreement after being left alone together and now see each other as both family and friends. Friends: He’s pretty good friends with Lidelle, and he helps her with bug-related problems whenever she has any. He’s also pretty good friends with Raffina even if they don’t hang out much and he still has trouble with her name. Enemies: Schezo.
-
Raffina – 16, has (canonical) imposter syndrome + transfem + pansexual demiromantic (she/her)
Assorted headcanons:
-As her family is very upper middle class, she was able to medically transition almost immediately after coming out. -She once tried to start a Primp Town Fight Club. It did not go well. -She’s the only person aside from Amitie that has two parents that did not abandon her and are not divorced. Unlike Amitie, however, only her mother works, so she gets to talk to her father frequently.
Relationship headcanons:
Crush: She secretly wants to kiss Lidelle really badly. (Good) friends: Although she was slightly distanced from them during the whole fight ordeal, she’s quite good friends with all the ASK trio. She’s pretty friendly with Ess.
-
Lidelle – 14, has social anxiety + cis lass + questioning (she/her)
Assorted headcanons:
-She feels genuinely sorry for what she did and said to Sig and those bugs, and she’s proud of herself for apologizing. -She likes playing with marbles and has made pretty big marble “race” courses in the past. -She doubts her self-worth a lot, and is worried that others don’t take her very seriously.
Relationship headcanons:
Chosen family: Despite not having any surviving biological family, she’s found a family in the form of Draco and Satan, who have been taking care of her for some time now. Best friend: Lidelle hangs out with Raffina almost constantly, and she considers Raf to be her very best friend. Good friends.. again: After a very large fight with Sig over the fact that her flesh-eating plants killed some of his bugs, she and Sig stopped being friends for a bit. After a lot of talking with Amitie and Raffina, she realized her mistake, and she apologized to Sig – and to her surprise, Sig apologized back. Even during the fight, she and Amitie stayed friends, and Ami gave her a lot of emotional support. She looks up to Klug, although Klug sees her as an equal and even spares a warm smile for her during some of his most jerk-y moments.
-
Lemres – 35, autistic, has SAD and PTSD + transmasc and nonbinary + aroflux/aceflux (they/them, he/him and any candy-related neopronouns)
Assorted headcanons:
-They are actually entirely blind due to personal reasons, and sewed their eyes shut as to not freak others out too much. They “see” by feeling the magic of their environment, and cannot “see” in low-magic areas (they also cannot read faces. At all.) -They have a sort of “vacation house” near Primp which they visit during the summer or any free time they have. The fact that it was built so close to Primp was a coincidence, but something they like very much. -Schezo occasionally “visits” the vacation house for a few months before running off on some random adventure for whatever reason. -Their broom was broken, presumably by Witch as they had fought with her not too long before that. -Su has a certain type of magic that allows sucre to read minds (or at least meaning). -His type of magic does not work on demons for a plethora of reasons. -They usually stim by twirling their staff around and messing with what remains of their broom.
Relationship headcanons:
Partners: They’re in a weird sort-of relationship with Schezo. The relationship informally started after Schezo assisted Lemres during a restless period and it doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. (Chosen) family: Although they want to keep their distance from their biological family, they’ve found a new family in Primp in the form of the ASK trio (Good) friends: They’re very close to Accord, having know her since Highschool (and even before she made Poipoi).
-
Feli – 16 and a half, experiences delusions and has disorders + transfem + bisexual (she/her evi/evil go/goth)
Assorted headcanons:
-Rather compulsory heterosexuality with her. She doesn’t actually have that much love for Lemres, mainly just lust and a feeling that she has to date or marry him. -She personally believes sharing one’s birthday with someone else is a sign of extreme trust due to Zodiac reasons. -She feels like her gender is influenced by gothic aesthetics, but can’t really describe it further.
Relationship headcanons:
Crushes: She still very obviously has a crush on Lemres, although it’s starting to lessen now that Lemres is in a closed relationship. (Chosen) family: She sees Klug as an annoying little brother, although he’s marginally more mature than she is. (Good) friends: She’s pretty good friends with Lidelle and Raffina.
-
Accord/Poipoi – ???? + cis lass and agender respectively + god knows (she/her for accord, he/it for poipoi)
Assorted headcanons:
-Accord secretly really likes hitting things with her hammer to the point where she’d go quite far in order to get a chance to do so. However, she would never readily admit this as she finds it to be incredibly childish. -Only Accord knows what happened to Lemres’s eyes. -During Highschool, Accord enchanted a puppet and gave it its own thoughts, personality, dreams, etc. That puppet was quite obviously Poipoi.
Relationship headcanons:
(Good) friends: Accord is close friends with Lemres, having known him since Highschool (she was his upperclassman by a few years) and never passes up a chance to talk to him. Poipoi managed to make friends with Aya in a particularly independent moment where it ran away.
-
Ayashii – >800, has a lot of trauma + whats a gender + (it/any neos/they/he/she)
Assorted headcanons:
-It genuinely forgot what a gender was because gender is so unimportant to it. -It somehow found a way to continue being friends with the puppy it rescued, even going so far as to teaching them the difference between it and Klug. -As it has extreme claustrophobia, it tends to take very long walks whenever it’s using Klug’s body.
Relationship headcanons:
Crushes???: Aya has some interest in Lemres and Schezo, but isn’t entirely sure what kind of interest. (Chosen) family: It’s beginning to see Klug as a son of sorts, and recognizes Sig as its descendent. huh what: It doesn’t trust Accord at all, especially knowing (and being friends with) Poipoi as an individual.
-
Yu and Rei - ??? + phasmaeic + (both use she/he/they gho/ghost spec/spectre and dar/dark)
- - -
Relationship headcanons:
Puyo~7 characters:
Ringo – 16, ??? + questioning (demigirl?) + bisexual (she/they)
Assorted headcanons:
-She’s questioning pretty much every single thing about her identity and beliefs to the point where she’s actually been having frequent migraines because of it. -She’s not at all proud to admit it, but she’s not-so-secretly envious of Maguro’s “beauty beam”. -She eats a LOT of things that you’re not meant to eat, to the point where everyone except for Sig (who does the same) is worried for her.
Relationship headcanons:
Crushes: She has small crushes on both Amitie and Tee, although she likes Amitie a *bit* more. Epic friends: She’s best friends with Maguro, and he’s one of the few people she properly trusts (not for edgy reasons, just because). A lot of people assume she’s dating him, which makes her feel pretty uncomfortable, but she doesn’t feel like she can really blame them.
-
Maguro – 16, has ADHD and PTSD (latter from AU) + questioning + bisexual (he/they)
Assorted headcanons:
-He’s questioning the same stuff as Ringo, although he’s a lot more chill about it. -He was pretty scarred, emotionally and physically, after an unfortunate incident concerning a badly thought-out prank, a fishing net, and a timer set to one month -He remembers all of his trauma in perfect clarity, and has good memory overall.
Relationship headcanons:
Partner:He’s been in a romantic relationship with Tee for a few months, and so far it’s been really nice. Best friend: He’s best friends with Ringo, and he feels really comfortable around her. They share almost everything, and are planning on moving in together once they get the chance to have a proper house. Good friends: Although Ris moved away to study abroad a while back, they still send a lot of gifts and letters to him on a regular basis. Also, they’ve been staying in contact with Ess ever since the whole beauty pageant thing and the two go shopping when they’re both free.
-
Risukuma – 19, NT + trans man + male-leaning pansexual (he/him)
Assorted headcanons:
-He’s incredibly interested in all types of love -After graduating school, he decided to study abroad to learn more about other cultures (and of course, love). -He really likes music, even having written some of his own songs in the past. One of his favorite bands is IDKHOW.
Relationship headcanons:
Partner: Despite only having interacted a few times, he’s quite good “friends” with Ai. Good friends: After moving away from Suzuran, he’s not been able to hang out with Ringo or Maguro as much, but he still sends them letters and gifts on a regular basis. What: He does not want to know about Ecolo. Do not tell him about Ecolo.
-
Ecolo – ageless and has so many disorders (affectionate??) + gender + probably so (it/they/he/she/other in that order)
Assorted headcanons:
-If asked, it would describe its gender as “Once In A Lifetime” by Talking Heads. -It’s trying really really hard to respect Ringo’s boundaries nowadays, and not just because she refused to acknowledge its existence for a whole week after it accidentally hurt her. -It can change into its human form at will; however, if it wants to stay in that form for more than a few hours at a time, it has to actually sleep for several days straight. -In its humanoid form, it sports several scars. -It genuinely loves fidget spinners and has this really creepy one it carries everywhere.
Relationship headcanons:
Crush: You know it wants to kiss Ringo so bad. Friends: Ex-friends with Satan because Ringo hates him. Pretty alright friends with Ex and Marle, not entirely sure what to think about Squares. Uh…: After.. an accident it caused, Maguro started to be able to remember it.
Puyo~Tetris characters:
Tee – 16, + trans man + questioning (he/him)
Assorted headcanons:
-He can’t pronounce any name longer than four letters long. Somehow, the worst case of this is with Ringo and Maguro’s names. -Having transitioned at a very young age and only interacting with one lass for most of his life, he has a lot of internalized sexism. After Ringo points this out, he starts trying to work on it, but he hasn’t been doing very well so far. -He’s also trying really hard to find a balance between being too basic and too over-the-top, but..
Relationship headcanons:
Partner: He’s been in a romantic relationship with Maguro for a few months. It’s been really nice, but as this is his first relationship he tends to go all-out with everything, causing Maguro to get rather flustered. Crush: Although he’s very hesitant to admit it, he has a pretty big crush on Ringo and wants to kiss her. Chosen family: O is his parent, Ess and Ai are his siblings, and the twins are his messed up if true gay cousins. Friend: He’s pretty good friends with Sig because of their shared inability to correctly pronounce Raffina’s name.
-
O – infinite, ??? + ???? + probably gay? ????? (any and all pronouns)
Assorted headcanons:
-I cannot reasonably take myself seriously trying to make headcanons for this godforsaken cloud cube -Squares themself made this thing (on accident?) -Anger management issues incarnate
Relationship headcanons:
Parnter: Kissed Carbuncle once eChidle: Tee is its son
-
Ex – ~40, has autism, minor intrusive thoughts and (canon) depression + some form of Guy + yes (he/they)
Assorted headcanons:
-He’s not sure how he identifies gender- and sexuality-wise and feels as if he’s too old to try to figure that out (which isn’t true, but still) -He genuinely misses Ess and Ai a lot and is unendingly grateful for the chance to see them both again. -His intrusive thoughts are usually fairly easy to deal with, but can sometimes get pretty bad if he’s left alone for too long.
Relationship headcanons:
Partners: I’m pretty sure he has an ex-wife somewhere and that scares me. Also he kisses Satan every day of his life (Chosen) family: He misses his children, Ess and Ai, so much. (Good) friends: He’s become reluctant friends with Ecolo, and very good friends with Marle and Squares.
-
Jay & Elle – 13, autistic and have separation anxiety + nonbinary + ??? (they/them)
Assorted headcanons:
-Individually they’re okay with all pronouns, but nobody can reasonably refer to them as separate entities. -After a few people asked them, they stopped bullying Ai as much, but they still “prank” him a lot. -They were separated exactly once. It was not a very good time for them.
Relationship headcanons:
Partners:They’re queerplatonic partners with Yu and Rei, since that’s just kind of what happens when you’re two sets of evil twins who like bothering others. Friends: They don’t really have many friends as their creepiness scares people off a lot, but they like hanging out with Ecolo (even if they forget about it a lot)
-
Ai – 20, has pretty severe anxiety + transmasc + bisexual (he/him)
Assorted headcanons:
-He found out that he was trans after he managed to get a sort of wi-fi thing going during a five-month-long stay in a densely-packed asteroid belt. He had actually medically transitioned before that, but nobody on the SS Tetra had the word for it. -He has exactly one large scar from a prank gone horribly wrong. Otherwise, he’s not been seriously injured by anything the twins have done. - Recently he’s started to become slightly braver in general thanks to a lot of therapy and emotional support from his boyfriend, this has allowed him to stand up to the twins a lot more. He is also more physically strong, and plans to drop kick them both someday.
Relationship headcanons:
Partner: He kisses Risukuma on the daily Chosen family: As he canonically sees Ex as a father, he headcanonically sees Ess as a sister. Pure hatred(/j): He’s no longer as afraid of the tetra twins, and sometimes even manages to prank them back on good days.
-
Ess – ~15, only ex knows. Has serious abandonment issues, apparently canon(?!?!) PTSD, and so many things + cis demilass + lesbiab (she/they/ze)
Assorted headcanons:
-She actually has a job, and on the last weekend of every month she goes shopping with Maguro (or Amitie if he’s busy) on Saturday and Raffina on Sunday with the money she gets. -She kinda wishes that she were more physically strong for a multitude of minor reasons. -Ess doesn’t actually know how to say Ringo’s name and tries really hard to hide that fact.
Relationship headcanons:
Crushes:She’s absolutely in love with Amitie, although she’s in very deep denial about it. Chosen family: She sees Ai as a brother, and the two bond over the fact that Ex totally ditched them to go patch up dimensions or whatever. Speaking of Ex, she’s very recently found it in her heart to maybe forgive him for leaving her when she was young, although she still is a long ways away from seeing him as a father again. Friends: She and Raffina hang out and talk about their insecurities a lot.
-
Zed – uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (he/him)
Assorted headcanons:
-uhhhhhhhhhh -I genuinely don’t think of this guy He reminds me too much of my ex-chosen-father -…to be added.
Relationship headcanons:
Ess is his belovt daughter that’s all you need to know.
Additional headcanons:
-Most of the Madou Monogatari gang feel entirely disconnected from what’s left of their humanity, so they identify with it/its along with whichever other pronouns they use. -Sig, Dark Sig, and the evil Sig from Sig’s Secret are all different entities. -Speaking of Dark Sig, they can actually purr, although Sig himself cannot. Klug thinks this is incredibly interesting and actually conducted several half-serious experiments to try to figure out why. -All of the SS Tetra crew see each other as family, although some have more clearly defined views of that. None of them have any romantic or sexual interest in any other member.
Tokusatsu Au where Rukia plays the lead actress in a superhero action show. Renji plays one of the villains and they are The most popular ship in the fandom. Bonus points if Orihime plays the main villain and loves every second of it.
This was the very first prompt I got, and I fell in love. Unfortunately, aside from a brief period of being grotesquely fascinated with Power Rangers as teen, I know almost nothing about tokusatsu. I did as much research as I could and I attempted to watch an episode of Kamen Rider, but my eyes glazed over halfway through. Anyway, please forgive my inaccuracies, I wrote this with my heart.
“Uh, looks like we’re almost out of time,” the panel moderator for “High-Spirited Battle Clairvoyant Tomoe!: A Sneak Peak at Season 5” declared, “but would you be willing to take just a few audience questions?”
Head Screenwriter Kurosaki Ichigo glanced at Leading Actress Kuchiki Rukia out of the corner of his eye, and she gave a tiny nod.
“Yeah, sure!” he replied.
There was already a young woman waiting at the microphone, practically vibrating with anxiety. She was wearing a t-shirt that had ZabiTo4Ever!! handwritten in marker on it. Rukia knew, deep down in her bones, what the question was going to be.
“Hi, yes, hello, big fan of your work! My question is: are Tomoe and Zabimaru going to kiss this season?”
“No,” Rukia started to say.
“As you probably know,” Ichigo said loudly on top of her, “the show holds close to the core plot points of Kuna-sensei’s manga, although, because of her minimalist style, we do expand a lot of the dialogue and filler scenes. She has said in several interviews that High-Spirited Battle Clairvoyant Tomoe! is not a romance manga, so the odds of Tomoe and Zabimaru ever kissing on screen are very, very low.”
The young woman stared at Ichigo grumpily. “Does this also count Zabimaru’s secret college student identity, Satonako Takeru?”
Ichigo stared back at her. “Yes. It does.”
The next question came from a person wearing a full suit of HellKnight’s plasma armor made out of overlapping plates of cardboard. Rukia was kind of impressed by it. She wondered if he could sit down.
“Hi, Kurosaki-sensei, I am a huge fan of your work,” a voice emanated from deep within the cardboard. “I was wondering if you are influenced at all by fanworks, and if Episode 73: Pride is on the Line!: The Bake Sale Must Go On! was based in any way on the classic fanfiction, ‘Tell Me All Your Best Lies’? It’s the top story by kudos in the ZabiTo tag, which I might point out is the most popular shipping category on AO3.”
Ichigo cleared his throat gently. “I am contractually not allowed to read fanfiction, although I do enjoy fanart! There are some incredibly talented artists in the fandom, although for some reason, no one ever wants to draw pictures of Lead Screenwriters.”
“I’ll draw you, sleeping on the set like you always do,” Rukia offered, and that got a pretty big laugh. Rukia’s Tumblr of behind-the-scenes doodle comics was beloved among the fandom.
The next question was from a nonbinary person wearing a big poufy skirt and a hairstyle that would make their make-up and hair guru, Yumichika, sit up and take notice. “Hi, this is a question for Kuchiki-san! If the show is going to roughly keep pace with the manga, as it has done up until now, you should be shooting the storyline where Tomoe and Queen Bloodbuzz switch bodies later this year. I was wondering if you could comment on how you feel about filming that storyline?”
Finally! A good one! “Yes!” Rukia nodded eagerly. “I don’t usually like to speak for my fellow cast members, but Orihime and I are beyond excited about playing each other. We’ve been studying each other’s mannerisms and practicing already! Does anyone want to hear my Queen Bloodbuzz cackle?” She wagged her eyebrows as the audience cheered. “Here goes-- bwaHaHaHaHAHAHAHAAHAAAHAAAAAAAA!”
“Bonechilling,” Ichigo commented dryly as the audience erupted.
“Amazing, Kuchiki-san!” the moderator exclaimed. “I think there is time for one more, but this will be the last question!”
A tall girl in a full set of High-Spirited Battle Clairvoyant Tomoe motorcycle leathers stepped to the microphone. She was holding a notebook. “Hello!” she warbled. “In a 2020 interview with the Psychics and Sidekicks podcast, Abarai Renji was asked about his opinion on ZabiTo as a ship, and he replied,” she consulted her notebook, “‘Tomoe is such a cool lady and talented Battle Clairvoyant, and she always follows her heart and stays true to herself. I think that Zabimaru can’t help but be impressed with her, even though they’re enemies, and I always try to roll that into our on-screen interactions.’ I know that in the past you’ve refused to comment on the ship, but I was wondering if you had any thoughts on, y’know, his thoughts?”
“Well, he’s correct, of course, Tomoe is very cool and admirable,” Rukia replied, which drew a few laughs, although it seemed like the audience was leaning forward in anticipation of her answer. “Like I said, I don’t like to speak for other cast members. I’ll be doing a big cast panel with Abarai and Inoue and Matsumoto and Ukitake tomorrow afternoon, and I hope you all can make it! See you then!”
The moderator thanked them enthusiastically, and then Ichigo and Rukia slipped out the back guest entrance.
“Evasive as always, Kuchiki,” Ichigo teased.
“Whatever,” Rukia sniffed. “The higher ups say we’re not supposed to comment on stuff like that, and I was not commenting. By the way, how many secret fanfic accounts are you up to? Four?”
“It’s only three!” Ichigo paused. “I wrote that fanfic the guy brought up.”
“Of course you did,” Rukia sighed. “I do blame you personally for the popularity of the damn ship.”
“Me? Blame Kuna for making up two such sexy, emotionally constipated dumbasses!” Ichigo defended.
“Also, it’s not Ichigo’s fault that you and Abarai have insane chemistry.”
Rukia spun around, grinning. “Orihime!”
Rukia’s two co-stars, Inoue Orihime and Abarai Renji, the portrayers of Tomoe’s demonic archnemeses, stood in the hallway behind them.
“We sat in on your panel!” Orihime beamed. “You two were brilliant!”
“Don’t worry,” Renji added. “We were incognito.”
“Incognito” was relative, Rukia supposed, when you were at Tokyo’s biggest tokusatsu
convention.
Orihime was wearing a Zabimaru outfit so detailed that she probably could have won a prize down at the cosplay hall. She had the gravity-defying ponytail, the eyeliner, the insane widow's peak (complete with forehead tatts), the fangs, the motorcycle boots. The paper mache snake skull helmet was a little lopsided, but it was charming. She had her top zipped a little higher than canon, but that was forgivable, too.
Renji had taken the opposite tack of looking as much like a normal person-- or at least a normal Battle Clairvoyant Tomoe superfan-- as possible. Relaxed fit jeans and an oversized hoodie de-emphasized his ultra-fit physique. He was wearing a t-shirt with a very dramatic rendering of Orihime that said “Queen Bloodbuzz can step on me!” and a ball cap with the logo of Seireitei University, the fictional college Tomoe and Takeru attended.
“You think you’re in disguise,” Rukia pointed out, “but there are thousands of teen girls in this place with entire Tumblrs dedicated to your stupid face when you’re out of costume.”
Renji cocked an eyebrow at her. “You underestimate me, Rukia. I have bought… new sunglasses.” With a flourish, he whipped out a pair of the dorkiest wayfarers she’d ever seen, and flipped them onto his face. “I’ve disappeared! Who am I? Where am I?”
“You look really great, Orihime,” Ichigo said, his cheeks coloring a little bit. “Did you get Uryuu or Yumichika to help you with that costume?” In his continuing theme of doing things he wasn’t supposed to, Ichigo had finally started dating Orihime on the downlow around the time they finished up filming last season. It had done absolutely nothing for how shy he still got around her. They were, in Rukia’s opinion, cute as hell.
“Oh, no, that would be cheating!” Orihime replied, wagging a finger at him. “Well…maybe I did cheat, just a tiny bit. Renji helped me make the helmet and he held up references for me while I was painting on the tattoos.”
“Only the forehead ones,” Renji quickly added.
“He wouldn’t even offer feedback on my booby tattoos!” Orihime frowned. She leaned forward. “Rukia, how do they look?”
Ichigo turned even redder.
“Perfect, as in all you do!” Rukia replied loftily.
“What’s everyone got coming up next?” Renji asked. “I was thinking of slipping out and trying to pick up some real coffee.”
“I’m judging a villainess-themed cosplay competition,” Orihime chirped. “But I’m dying for a blueberry caramel iced latte. Renji, my henchman, pleeeeease!”
“Of course, my liege,” Renji replied in his Zabimaru voice.
It’s not like it had been a hard decision to accept the role of the motorcycle-riding, badass heroine of one of the most popular manga of the last decade, but it had turned out to be one of the best decisions of Rukia’s life. not just her career. Aside from a few of the money-obsessed executives, she liked nearly everyone in the cast and crew, but the fact that the fact that the ruthless, homicidal, literally Hell-spawned villains of the show were played by the two sweetest marshmallow people she had ever met just took the cake. Renji and Orihime had already known each other from some voicework they had done previously, and their excitement at working together on a live-action project had infected the entire cast from the start. Rukia wasn’t sure, but she strongly suspected that Renji was the one who had hyped Orihime up to ask Ichigo out.
“I have a writers’ workshop I’m moderating this afternoon, and I wanted to review the writing samples people sent in,” Ichigo said, scratching the back of his head. “I’d love to stop by that cosplay contest, though, at least for a few minutes.”
“You’ll be needing caffeine, too, then, eh?” Renji offered. “Hot, black, and in the largest cup they make, as usual?”
“Ugh, you’re the best,” Ichigo groaned. “You wanna power-up this season? Costume update? You know what? Maybe I’ll just have you defeat Tomoe once and for all, no one likes her anyway.”
“C’mon, you know I’m the world’s number one Tomoe simp, don’t do that!” Renji laughed.
Rukia rolled her eyes. “I’m free and I could use some fresh air. Besides, it’s going to take all your dumb muscles just to carry Kurosaki’s vat of coffee back here.”
“Cool!” Renji proclaimed. “We’ll be back soon!”
“Thanks, Renjiiiii!” Orihime waved.
“You need to stop off and put on a disguise?” Renji asked.
“No point in it, I always get recognized,” Rukia sighed, pulling her sunglasses out of her purse anyway.
“Here,” Renji said, plunking his hat on her head. “Maybe this will help.”
“Thanks,” Rukia replied, and then did a double take. “Whaaaaaat is on your head?”
“Shut up!” Renji laughed. He usually shaved his head when they were filming, because it made it easier to deal with the make-up and wigs, but since they were between seasons, he’d grown his hair out into a short, tousled mop of reddish-brown waves. He looked, for the lack of a better word, dreamy. “I shot a movie over the summer, and they wanted me to look softer.”
Rukia looked at him over the top of her sunglasses. “You didn’t tell me you were doing a movie!”
“Oh, it was just a little indy romcom thing. I wasn’t sure it was gonna pan out, I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it.”
“You were in a romcom? You’re kidding me!” They ducked out of a side door of the convention center into the bright sunshine.
“Yeah, it’s about a guy who goes to the gym to try to get ripped to impress a girl, and makes friends with me, this nice, already ripped dude who gives him lifting tips and encourages him a bunch. By the end of the movie, it turns out we have crushes on each other.”
“Oh, no, that sounds really cute, actually!”
“It was written by a woman who graduated from one of Ichigo’s writing workshops. The script was really snappy and Ichigo thought having someone like me as the gym guy would give it just a bit of campy cachet. You know what a good sense he’s got for stuff like that.”
“That was cool of you to go out on a limb a little,” Rukia replied.
Renji rubbed the back of his neck. “I’d been wanting to try something like that for a while, actually.”
Rukia blinked. “You aren’t… you aren’t thinking of leaving the show, are you?”
“Huh? No. No! No, the show means the world to me, I would never. But… it’s not gonna run forever, y’know?”
“I would have guessed you’d want to be a big action star or something!” Rukia said, throwing a few air punches. “That’s my dream!”
Renji stuffed his hands in the pockets of his hoodie. “Yeah, that’s what I thought I wanted when I first got into acting. I’d read the Tomoe manga, and I thought playing Zabimaru would be a good jumping-off point, besides just being a cool character overall.”
“Is that… not true?” Rukia frowned.
“Oh, I mean, I guess so! I didn’t really know about the fandom, though and… to be honest, I’m kinda into the idea that there are all these fans who think I’m complex and redeemable?”
Rukia regarded him out of the corner of her eye. “They just want to fix you.”
“Maybe! Ichigo made me read this one fanfic that was eight thousand words of the reader getting sick and Zabimaru making them soup? And feeding them the soup? I still haven’t decided how I feel about it.”
“How does he have time to find these things? Does he even sleep?”
“Anyway, it doesn’t hurt to be well-rounded and it was fun. I’m still mostly an action guy, but I wouldn’t mind doin’ something with a romantic subplot. A period drama or something like that. I look pretty good in hakama, you know.”
“I bet you do,” Rukia laughed. She squinted at him, but his expression was unreadable behind the shades. Renji didn’t have the classic leading man looks, not like her ridiculously famous older brother, but she could definitely see him as the best friend, the B-plot romance, with his cute, messy hair and that big doofy grin.
“By the way, I’m sorry you had to field that question about me spilling my romantic sensibilities on that podcast.”
Rukia laughed. “You didn’t even answer the question, either! These people are relentless!”
Renji stopped at a street corner and peered down the various possible directions they could go. “Which way feels like it might have a coffee shop?”
“You didn’t have one in mind before we left? I thought you knew where we were going!”
“Nah, I just like to go out and see what there is.”
“I can look up a map,” Rukia said, reaching in her bag for her phone.
“Let’s just go this way,” Renji said, stepping out into the street in the direction that had the WALK light. Rukia sighed and had to scramble to catch up with him.
“So, what do you think about it?”
“Huh?” Rukia asked. “Think about what?”
“Our ship. ZabiTo.”
“I can’t believe you just said that word out loud. And you know we’re not supposed to give our opinion on it!”
“Aw, c’mon, we’re not supposed to give public statements on our opinions. I don’t think there’s any harm in talking between ourselves. We’re in disguise, even.”
“‘Disguise’,” Rukia sniffed.
“You don’t like it, I can tell.”
“He’s a bad guy! Everyone always talks about chemistry, and that may be true, but I just don’t think that Tomoe could ever get over his acts of violence and cruelty.”
“Queen Bloodbuzz is cruel. Zabimaru is not cruel.”
“Okay, that’s fair, but still. He’s kidnapped just about all of Tomoe’s friends and or turned them into monsters at one time or another. He’s always setting Karakura Town on fire or flooding it with magic lizard goo. He ruined the sports festival.”
“Maybe the sports festival deserved to be ruined,” Renji muttered under his breath.
“Okay, you’ve got a point on that one,” Rukia admitted.
“It’s really clear though, that he’s got some agenda beyond just simping for Queen Bloodbuzz--”
“The simping for Queen Bloodbuzz is the most relatable thing about him, to be honest.”
“Granted. But, what if he’s got a good reason for everything he does, actually? What if he’s doing all of this against his own moral code as a means of infiltrating Hell itself and getting himself into a position of trust so that he can bring down the Lords of Hell from the inside?”
Rukia slipped her sunglasses down to the tip of her nose. “Does Kuna give you Zabimaru spoilers?” The reclusive creator High-Spirited Battle Clairvoyant Tomoe! was only barely involved with the television show, but she did privately meet with each of the cast members about once a year. Most of Rukia’s meetings consisted of Kuna giving her constructive criticism on her battle poses.
“No, mostly we practice sneering,” Renji replied. “But I gotta play the guy, so I gotta think about this, you know, what motivates him? I mean, you’re probably right, it would never work out. But unlike Tomoe, whose principles would call for her to ignore any attraction she has to him, Zabimaru has the freedom to pine for her, perhaps because his love is futile and he doesn’t think he deserves it anyway.”
“That’s kinda dark, dude,” Rukia frowned.
“Yes, well, that is the kind of character acting that netted me the 2019 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Best Villain Award, Foreign Language Category.”
“That’s literally what’s going through your head when you’re shouting that if I can’t make some sick motorcycle jump, you’ll turn all my friends into stuffed animal versions of themselves?”
“No, of course not! At those times I’m thinking about how much I love my job. OH! and what is that I see!” Renji struck an extremely Zabimaru pose. “A MISTER DONUT!”
“My hero!” Rukia exclaimed, unable to resist an opportunity to shout dramatically. “I’m sorry I doubted you!”
“I think we should get some donuts, too. Orihime loves donuts,” Renji declared.
“Oh, for sure,” Rukia agreed. She was thoughtful for a moment. It would be easy to move on to a different subject, the subject being donuts, but she wasn’t happy with leaving the last conversation hanging. “Look, Renji, just because I don’t like the dumb ship, you know that’s not a reflection on you, right?”
“Huh?” Renji replied. “You mean you don’t mind if I like it?”
“Well… I mean, I don’t, I guess, but what I really meant was, er… we joke a lot, but Tomoe and Zabimaru are just parts, y’know? Just because I don’t think Zabimaru isn’t good boyfriend material doesn’t mean I…” Rukia trailed off, suddenly realizing what she was saying. “Um. What I mean is. You’re very nice and probably one of my favorite people I’ve ever worked with and if someone I knew wanted to ask you out, I would definitely encourage them to, A+ guy, I’d say, probably would make a great boyfriend.”
Renji pushed his sunglasses up onto his forehead and regarded her for a long moment. “For the record, Kuchiki, I think that both you and Tomoe would make excellent girlfriend material.” While Rukia stood there and gaped like a fish, he turned and pushed open the door to the coffee shop. “Ichigo likes crullers and Orihime always wants the most colorful thing they’ve got. Do you know what you want?”
“I need to think about it,” Rukia squeaked. She wasn’t talking about donuts.
Lance Schnitz
Fandom: Tangled
Character(s): Lance Strongbow, Eugene Fitzherbert, some mention of Kiera and Catalina
Prompt: Arnwaldo Schnitz
Warning: I haven't watched the series in full. I only watched the entirety of season 1 and some episodes of season 2 and 3 so some of this might not line up with canon. And there may be a slight chance this'll become irrelevant once the Eugene book comes out in September. Who knows. Also some cursing? If you get uptight by the word damn.
A/N: This is for @tangledbea 's Lance Strongbow appreciation week. I was originally going to contribute with just drawings cause it's what I do best but this specific prompt inspired me more to write than to draw. So here it is. I haven't written anything in full for forever so uh be gentle. Also I hc Lance as nonbinary, using he/they pronouns, so I use he/him and they/them interchangeably in this fic.
Arnwaldo Schnitz.
What kind of name is that?
Arnwaldo Schnitz.
If he ever figures out how to communicate with the dead, first thing he's gonna do is ask his parents what were they thinking when naming him that. They hated that name. Ever since he developed cognitive thought, he's hated that name with every fiber of his being. Arnwaldo, that's not even a real name! It's just a weird combination of Arnold and Waldo, which are probably about two of the worst names to combine. Maybe that's just their bias showing. Maybe it's all the years of anger they've had stored for being bullied because of the damn name. The only person who never made fun of him for it was Eugene. Eugene didn't like his name either. Lance always thought the reason was the same as his, anger, but he later learned it was more out of embarrassment than anger. Lance always wanted to change their name, but he never knew to what until Eugene introduced them to Flynn Ryder and Lance Archer. Now that was a cool name! And an even cooler guy. Stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. He had wished there was someone like that giving that stuff out. Maybe it would've given them enough to get good food and clothes. Him and Eugene would reenact their adventures with what little they had. Eugene was always Flynn Ryder and they were always Lance Archer. He had looked up to him just like Eugene to Flynn. At some point, they had finally decided to change their name from stupid Arnwaldo to Lance. He decide to change his last name too, it reminded them to much of their old name. But they weren't too fond of Archer either. It wasn't bad and he doesn't think it's bad for Lance Archer, it just didn't fit him y'know? But he didn't wanna stray too far from it either, it be rude to take their hero's first name but not atleast honor his last name. Think, think, think. Bow, archers shoot bows right?
Lance Bow.
Hm, that doesn't feel complete though. What about Strongbow?
Lance Strongbow.
Now that! That fits way better. And they've been going by that ever since. Eugene also changed his name to Flynn Ryder. They did eventually leave the orphanage and became thieves. The best you could say. Expanding their horizons from Veraderos to Corona. Though unlike their heroes, they never gave to the poor. I mean they technically did since him and Flynn were poor so they did give to the poor. It just so happens that they were the poor. They eventually drifted apart with Flynn, going off with the Stabbington Brothers, while he was thrown into the clink. Amazing.
Before being released, he'd heard from the guards that the princess of Corona was dating a thief by the name of Flynn Ryder. Ho ho ho, he has to go visit Flynn after he gets outta here. And so they did. Obviously they were gonna meet Flynn anyway to execute their plan to steal from the Baron but it wasn't his main reason. Ok maybe it was, but still! It was like a cute road trip but with crime involved. He figured he had to lie to Flynn to get to help them since he's now living in the palace with the royals and wouldn't want to get on their bad side by stealing again. But it was fine, lying was like second nature to them. And guess what? He got his old pal to steal again by convincing him that the treasure they told him about belonged to their old inmate and got permission to have. Flynn did eventually figure out they were stealing from the Baron but that was when they already got to it so it didn't matter. One thing that angered him other than Flynn just being so uptight about the whole stealing thing was him calling him by his old name. Like how dare he?! Just because you're angry doesn't mean you get to drop that all of a sudden. And he did it again later on when they finally escaped the Baron's house. He knew how much resentment he had towards his old name and he still used it. Just because he went back to going by his old name doesn't mean they want to. They did inevitably say sorry to Eugene for the lying to him and even gave the treasure they stole to the charity they had for the orphans of Corona under the name Schnitz. Not because he decided to go back to using his old name, it was just to stay anonymous.
They did stay in Corona and still kept the bedroom Eugene and the princess gave them when they came to visit. Not that they deserved it but they weren't gonna complain. When you get a nice room IN A PALACE, you tend not to complain. He was glad he did stay because it lead to him meeting Angry and Catalina. And now after going on adventures with Eugene and his Corona friends and defeating the big bad, he was once again stuck. They were planning to adopt Angry and Catalina, to give them the childhood they never got but now Strongbow didn't feel fitting. I mean Lance Strongbow was a good strong name, but Kiera and Catalina Strongbow? Not so much. So he went back to Schnitz. Schnitz isn't a bad last name. Lance never hated his last name like they did their first name. Just being associated with their old name was too much for them at the moment. But now that he's gonna raise kids of his own, maybe it'll be good to go back to Schnitz.  It is the only thing he has related to his parents and Kiera and Catalina Schnitz had a nice ring to it. Just because they're going back to their old last name doesn't mean he has to change his first name to his old name.
Lance Schnitz.
That does have a pretty nice ring to it.
Lance Schnitz.
He could get used to that.
Not that anyone asked (but seriously I’d LOVE for someone to talk to me about PokeSpe (just no spoilers past vol 13)) but since I made an offhand remark about my Top 5 favorite characters, it occurred to me that I actually DO have approximately 5 top favorite characters, and I’m procrastinating on work, so I’m gonna ramble
**just in case, note that a lot of this will revolve around my childhood experience with gender in a “I’m AFAB (and present-day me still identifies as a cis girl) but I don’t fit in with what media is telling me girls are like” way, a brief childhood feeling of homophobia, and probably general TMI about my opinions and emotions throughout my life, haha
1. Yellow
Okay, so, I was a little kid when Pokemon Adventures started coming out in English, back when manga was released as single-issue monthly comic books instead of complete volumes.  So I was rereading the same chapters over and over while anxiously awaiting the rest of the story (and wound up missing a bunch of issues anyway)
I enjoyed the RGB arc, I thought it was fun, but I didn’t LOVE the series until Yellow showed up.  At that age my ideal crush was “a cute boy my age who would be nice to me” and Yellow was presented to the reader as a cute boy my age who was sweet and kind and gentle, but also good in a fight, as all shounen protags must be.  Extra bonus points because they had just a few physically weak Pokémon and tried to fight battles in a way that minimized damage to their own and the opponent’s Pokémon, which meant they fought in a particularly smart and clever way.  And I was considered “smart” for being good at school, so being a SMART cute “boy” my age who would be nice to me, Yellow was PERFECT.  I mean, I loved the arc in general because of the clever battles, and the mystery of what had happened to Red, why these people were after Pikachu, why Yellow was so secretive about themself and their mission, etc was really engaging.  But also I adored Yellow as a character and partly in a “I wonder if ‘he’ would like me??” kind of way X’D  So to my tiny child self who didn’t even know it was possible to like-like someone of the same gender (because I hadn’t read Cardcaptor Sakura yet XD ), the reveal that Yellow was a “girl” was devastating—I had to cross out floating hearts on at least one drawing of us holding hands (scandalous!) and, while kind of stunned and shaken for a while, decided that what I’d felt all along was a deep, intense desire to be friends X’D (which probably wasn’t too far from the truth since I was pre-puberty and later turned out to be asexual)
(Also note that I never got the RGB issue that had the chapter where Red helps a little ‘girl’ capture a Rattata—later proven to be Yellow’s backstory—so the gender reveal really came out of nowhere for me.)
But anyways, I still love Yellow as a character for all the above reasons, without the crush aspects because I’m way older than them now.
Also when I reread the series ten years ago, I finally realized “wait, aside from surprising the reader, there’s no real plot reason for Yellow to pretend to be a ‘boy’ except that Green told ‘her’ to—so why did ‘she’ do it?”...and because at that time I didn’t even know that nonbinary genders existed, I decided it was cus they had low self-esteem and pretending to be a different person gave them courage (the same reading I had for Mulan at the time).  These days I’m more inclined to “yeah, I think Yellow’s nonbinary,” but that other interpretation was deeply relatable to me and only made me love Yellow even more.
2. Bill
Bill’s definitely a character I’ve grown to love more as an adult, since I’ve gone from seeing myself as “a protagonist doing cool things” to “a side character just living their life who hopefully gets to do something once in a while.”  But as a kid and now, I like him mostly for the slapstick and goofy expressions and the (early chapters Viz translations) outrageous accent  X’D  My brain desperately craves endorphins and the best way to get em is through a good laugh.
But also, I liked that he was introduced as a goofy character-of-the-week who got into ridiculous trouble and had to be rescued, but then kept being brought back, was slowly built up to be the “smart sidekick who explains things,” and eventually got to the point where he was participating in big battles (the Yellow finale on Cerise Island).  I rambled about this in the tags of another post, but I liked that he was a character who was “weak” without being “useless.”  As a kid who was good at school, I was obsessed with being good at things and had developed a black-and-white view of the world where either you were “strong/smart” or “weak/stupid” to the point that failing or just being not-so-good at anything was devastating (it still kind of is), because that meant I was actually “weak/stupid” when I was supposed to be “strong/smart.”  So it was kind of awesome that this guy who kept getting into trouble and having to be rescued—and didn’t even want to BE part of the final battle—managed to hold his own and get through it and help out instead of being a burden that dragged everyone down.  Seriously, he used a MAGIKARP effectively—the Pokémon everyone makes fun of for being “useless” and he used its one attack to save his life!
(Bonus points for all this happening in contrast to my devastating childhood experience of stanning The One Girl Character in every popular shounen series, waiting desperately for her to get to do something in battle, and then her one spotlight episode revolved around her struggling because she was so weak...not only was that actually happening to a boy for once, it was actually happening in a more satisfying/empowering way :’D )
3. Gold
I have extremely specific tastes when it comes to “the dumb shounen/action movie protag,” because as a kid I hated it when the main character was “dumb” because I was “smart” (re: good at school) and people who were “dumb” shouldn’t deserve to be the main character and have all the cool powers and save the world and stuff.  As an adult, I hate it when male characters are dumb and/or jerks but it’s treated as fine or even sexy(??) and the other characters fawn over them, and I generally still kind of hate it when characters who are dumb and/or jerks get the big important role when there’s a female character RIGHT THERE who’s more competent (and OF COURSE she has to wind up falling in love with him)
But anyway, I have extremely specific tastes, and Gold is it  X’D  He’s the perfect combination of “unshakably confident in his own stupid/egotistic views” and “treated as annoying and/or comic relief by the rest of the cast” with a bonus dash of actually being really clever in battle (so my inner child goes “Ah yes, technically, he is ’smart,’ and therefore...worthwhile“)  Making me laugh while also impressing me is like the key to my heart.
4. Crystal
I’m too lazy to look it up, but when Viz was publishing Pokemon Adventures as monthly comics, they must have switched to publishing it as trade paperbacks only and/or had a huge gap between the end of Yellow and the start of GSC, because for YEARS I’d thought Yellow was the end of the series and was shocked the first time I saw later volumes.  (My dad was buying us the monthly issues at the local comic store, and either they wouldn’t have ordered the trade paperbacks or he wouldn’t have thought to check those shelves.)
Anyway, that’s a long lead-in to the statement of “Crystal would automatically be my #1 or #2 if I’d read her arc as a kid.”  She’s a girl, she wears pants, she’s EXTREMELY smart (genius-level “book-smarts” about every Pokémon’s behaviors and weaknesses PLUS being clever in a battle), was tough as nails (she KICKED her Pokéballs!!), had no interest in romance or her appearance, AND had a short arc about losing her confidence and training herself back up to full power.  I would have KILLED for a character like that when I was a little girl being told that “girls don’t like action shows like Dragon Ball Z” (but I was a girl and I did???) and that girls were supposed to be pretty and obsessed with fashion and dating, and that girls were never the main character of action series, just side characters who either did nothing or got one chance to do something and were pathetically weak (see above, and/or Sakura’s fight against Ino (Naruto), those couple filler eps where Téa/Anzu played Duel Monsters (Yu-Gi-Oh), Videl getting pummeled by Spopovich (DBZ), etc).
So anyway, she’s awesome, she’s exactly the type of character I would’ve loved as a kid.  The only reason she’s behind Gold here is because at my age, “makes me laugh” > “the kind of main character I used to wish I could be”
5. Green (the girl trainer...I’m just too loyal to the Viz version to call her “Blue”...)
I’m trying not to rehash the same “I’m a girl but none of the girls in my shows/comics are like me!” childhood woes over and over, haha, but as much as I always enjoyed Green for being extremely clever and outsmarting the boys and being funny when she did so, she always lost points with me for being “pretty” and flirting to get her way, because that put her in the box of “girls are supposed to be pretty and desired by boys and obsessed with their appearance and romance” that was so foreign and disheartening to me as a kid.
But her staredown with Ho-oh at the end of the GSC arc TOTALLY got me.  As a sad adult with anxiety, watching characters who are absolutely terrified overcome their fear, watching characters who are completely beaten down struggle back to their feet and keep fighting, is like my ultimate power fantasy.  That sequence genuinely had me in tears.
Also her bond with Silver is super precious, especially since that’s like the first time in the series we’ve seen her be genuinely emotional and vulnerable with someone instead of teasing or manipulating them.
Honorable mention: Sapphire
I haven’t gotten up to R/S in my reread yet, and I only read that arc once over like a weekend ten years ago, but I’m pretty sure she’s gonna be a Top Fave cus again there’s that “I'm not like other girls!” childhood feel  (last time I’m saying it, I promise)
It’s a story arc where one protag wants to fight the gyms and the other protag wants to win the beauty contests, but the one who wants to fight the gyms is the girl!!  And she’s the typical “dumb but extremely good at fighting” shounen protag but she’s the girl!!  She’s feral and illiterate and a total tomboy and wins all her fights and she’s a GIRL!!!!
--
Anyway, those are my kids and my dude and my probably way-too-personal reasons why.  If you wanna reblog, reply, or send an ask about your own faves...please
soda, byakuya, rantaro, and ibuki with a s/o with adhd
Tumblr media
i think i understood your ask ! however, i’m only going to write headcanons with a s / o with adhd because i tried writing the original ask and i felt like i wasn’t doing the adhd community justice with the way i described some things in the original way i wrote it.
also, i didn’t specify that the s / o is nonbinary because my headcanons are usually with a nonbinary / non-gender specific character already ! so i just went with my normal writing form.
if i still did the adhd community wrong with anything i wrote, please let me know so i can edit it ! i don’t want to offend anyone or write any misconceptions since i’m not the most knowledgeable in a lot of disorders.  - mod kokichi
[ S O D A ]
- soda honestly paid no attention to how wild you could be some times
- i mean, its just you ??? you're allowed to do what you want ??
- he is a simp and would not stop you from doing anything
- before you were even dating, you warned him about your adhd diagnosis by the doctor
- his exact words were " oh, alright. cool. do you want to learn about cars ? i could use someone with a lot of energy to help out. "
- you did, indeed, learn about cars, or at least learned enough to help him out
- and you do help him out with whatever project he's always working on
- and you must say, it's rather fun
- it's something to get your attention on, and it's fun to hang out with your boyfriend like this
- so most of the time you were kept with something to grab your attention
- however, not every day can there be something to grasp your attention, and on those days, you really start to worry about yourself
- you sometimes can get so bored that you feel like your trapped in the house, even when you're able to go outside at any time
- soda is pretty good at finding something to do, being a rather energetic person as well
- so even when you actually are stuck at home, he can usually find something to do to keep you afloat
- he really doesn't think about your adhd being a disorder, he just finds you to have a rambunctious personality
- honestly most of the time when you're begging for his attention out of boredom, it doesn't even cross his mind that your adhd might be acting up.
- he just gives you what you want most of the time, and it's great
[ B Y A K U Y A ]
- okay, i have to be real here
- at first, when he met you for the first time, he thought you were really annoying
- your personality is completely opposite of who he is as a person
- and he found the way you acted to be strange
- but after spending a little time with you, he learned strange wasn't a terrible thing
- he means the best most of the time
- even when he has a headache, and doesn't want to deal with anyone
- he'll still make sure that you're okay where you are
- he seriously has a little station in his office just for you to hang out in when you get bored of watching him do paperwork
- it consists of a computer that chihiro helped him install with things that would stimulate your adhd and keep your attention on it
- a few stimulation toys ( i don't know if they're used with adhd, but i use them a lot for my autism )
- and some books he knows you like to read
- so you won't be too bored when accompanying him to the office
- everything he does may seem to be slightly degrading, like scolding you for walking to the park on your own
- but he really means just to take care of you in his own way
- relationships, in general, are something that he struggles with, so when you add on adhd that needs constant stimulation, he gets a little stressed out sometimes
- just like how he tries not to get upset with you, you have to be patient with him
- he is constantly trying to be the person you need him to be, with small steps
[ R A N T A R O ]
- he was fully aware you were hyperactive way before you even told him you had adhd
- so whenever he's around you, he prepares for a wild ride
- it's rather out of his personality to be constantly doing something
- he's a man who likes his peace and quiet sometimes, which is okay
- rantaro has no problem finding something for you to do or giving you attention when you really need it
- he almost takes care of you like you're a child in a way ??
- but he does it out of love i swear
- he kind of treats you like he does his sisters
- purely because that's how he learned how to take care of everyone
- after you admit to him that you have adhd, he'd be a little more attentive to your needs
- he'd be the kind of guy who goes outside with you just so you two can walk to the park together
- he really likes how your personality is almost starchly different from his own
- and thinks that you two work together really well
- even if you didn't have adhd, he would still make sure you had a good relationship with his sisters
- but it's even better when you have adhd because they all love how playful and fun you can be
- on your worst days, he's there to take care of you if you need him too
- not everything is always so pretty and he's aware of that
- he communicates with you all the time to make sure that you feel comfortable around him and that he was doing the right things when he's taking care of you
- he lowkey enjoys when you come up to him with a random idea in your head that you have to get done right. now.
- he just thinks you balance him out really well
[ I B U K I ]
- adhd ?? what's that ?
- at first, she had no idea what you were talking about when you explained to your girlfriend about your diagnosis
- ibuki believed it just made you hyper sometimes,
- and that was okay because she was hyper too !!
- i headcanon her with adhd as well, but she just doesn't know what it is really
- she's not really good with medical stuff and things like that, so she doesn't really think too much about it
- or, at all, really
- she's always got something steaming in her head, and almost never do you spend a boring day
- so she's really good at keeping you stimulated with your surroundings instead of bored
- however, upon request after a particularly wild concert that left you with a ringing in your ears and a headache for the rest of the day
- she does make sure not to OVERstimulate you
- she would ask if you were okay with everything before, during, and after whatever she has planned that day if it's going to be wild
- just to make sure you were safe, because she's pretty bad at consoling
- but really good at taking your attention away from negative thoughts
- she wants you to have lots of fun and be safe at the same time, so she really likes to bring you along on her adventures no matter what time it is in the day
- she finds you really fun to be around !!!
- especially when you're the one who initiates something fun during the day
- she'll also listen to every one of your rants because !! you're just so smart ?
- she never would have thought of some of the things you do, and she's always amazed
- you have her entire heart, basically.
There's a lot of things about Borderlands 3 that makes it kinda a garbage game. And all of those things are valid and true but a aspect of bl3 that deeply bothers me isn't something I've really seen people talk about?? Maybe they have but I missed it but I want to say my interpretation. (Also like, spoiler warning throughout all of this post)
To start off with: hi, I'm a autistic afab nonbinary person and this is relevant for this little rant I'm bout to go on.
I want to begin by stating why I love this franchise so much.
Borderlands, whether you like it or not, is INCREDIBLY queer. And not in a coded kind of way, it's just flat out gay as fuck. And that means so fucking much to me. Borderlands 2 was one of the first times I ever felt fully represented in a game. Zer0 being this dumbass making Yugioh references and generally being a fun garbage boy and also being nonbinary meant a lot to me and I adore him to this day (nonbinary people can use gendered pronouns fuc off). And getting more and more into this series and finding out that basically every character was on some level queer was really cool to me. Maya being asexual and most of the characters being attracted to multiple genders so honestly and off handily was so refreshing and amazing to get to play through. The casual mentions of a woman's wife or some man's husband in the echo's you find or Moxxi talking about her ex girlfriends was one of the reasons I loved this so much.
Another thing I loved particularly about Borderlands 2 was how feminist it was. I can not tell you how quickly I lost my shit at Mr. Torgue talking about the friend zone being misogynistic(it is btw). And the repeated jokes about fully murdering men for being rude to women was some of the highlights of my first playthrough. Punching a guy till he explodes because he disrespected a sex worker?? Fucking immaculate.
SPEAKING OF SEX WORK.
Mad Moxxi is a icon. She is a mother of MULTIPLE children, a survivor of rape and assault and a fucking bad bitch who runs a now intergalactic titty bar. Getting to have not only a sex worker be respected in a narrative, Moxxi is fun and a genuinely complex character who isn't defined by her job or her appearance. She is emotional and strong and funny and flawed but amazing person.
And then there's the way the male characters a represented and treated. I'll be honest here, I haven't really played Borderlands 1, mostly because have been spoiled by auto pick up and also I just didn't feel like it. So my idea of most of the men are based entirely off of Bl2, the pre-sequel and Tales. Anyway, Mordecai in particular is a character I really liked upfront. I love how a lot of his motivation and character is driven by his love of animals and Bloodwing. He's kind and though troubled knows when to get his shit together and be there when he needs to be. His casual "are you okay?" After the latter falls in the Arid Nexus was such a nice moment and the way he genuinely tries to be there emotionally for all of the people around him who he cares for is so fucking rare to see in a male character. And his arc of giving up alcohol to focus on being a better bird dad and you getting to help Brick make Mordecai a special gift to celebrate his sobriety is so amazing and I'm so proud of him.
Mr. Torgue is my dad and I love him. As mentioned, he is normal and believes that the friend zone is absolute garbage talk is ICONIC™ and the best scene in that game fight me. Torgue is a crybaby. He is an emotional person who is not afraid to express his pain and hurt when people are mean to him. He respects women and loves unicorns. The fact that is physical appearance is a big muscle guy who screams but is the literal opposite of toxic masculinity will forever make him the best male character of all time and I love him and he is my dad.
Roland was a character that I was never in particularly attached to but I still respect him and did enjoy his presence. I really appreciated his leadership style being primarily based on empathy and logic as opposed to him being a big meanie man with a HUGE dick who yells at people. I always really resonated with the echo from Tannis talking about how she came to Sanctuary. Roland going out of his way to bring Tannis to safety while completely respecting her autism and struggle with socializing really made his death hit harder when Tannis was very obviously distraught by losing him. It really seems that Roland was the only one who didn't treat her differently. And as someone who's autistic, finding people who legit 100% understand and respect you and just let you live the way you want/need to is kinda hard and those are the qualities I'd personally want in a leader.
Angel is also a big spot of affection for me. Handsome Jack being a irrefutably horrible person who Angel flat out says gaslights people and killed her means a lot to me considering 99% of Bad Parent stories end with "I forgive u" getting to see an abusive victim take that narrative and say fuck you was powerful and meant a lot to me coming from my own abusive home life.
There's a lot of other things I love about Borderlands but if I keep going I won't stop lol so let's get into why Borderlands 3 makes me so uncomfortable.
One of the main things that bothered me was the sexism. Its nothing too horrifying but given how feminist bl2 was it was really shocking and a bit hurtful the number of times women are called bitches or made to seem crazy. If you recall I brought up how you punch a man to death for calling a woman a bitch? Yea no, in this game we mock women for having boundaries and opinions because lol she's just a CRAZY BITCH who just needs to stop acting so hysterical am I right guys?
Yea the whole mission with that stupid bear thing and his ex robot girlfriend made me insanely uncomfortable and upset. I kept waiting for the gotcha moment where it says actually this bear guy is a dick and he shouldn't use language like that but no we just,,,,,, are supposed to laugh along. I hate it.
Even though Borderlands 3 is still very much queer, this game introducing 2 new trans characters as well as a whole DLC about a gay marriage and one of the playable characters being a lesbian there was this some shit that bothered me.
The mission where you crash and ruin a lesbian wedding.
That mission made so upset and uncomfortable. I hated how traumatized and hurt Tumorhead was as I murdered her family and wife. I hated how unfulfilling the mission was where PLOT TWIST the lady was actually a spy or whatever. I hate how there's a mission about ruining some poor psycho ladies wedding. I would've much more preferred a mission where Idk Bloodshine asks you to help her kill a spy who's causing problems and then fucking go around Promethea collecting wedding decorations or something. OR MAYBE JUST NOT A MISSION WHERE YOU KILL LESBIANS FOR NO FUCKING REASON.
I'm mad, anyway.
I also hated how Tannis was treated in this game. Under absolutely no circumstance would Doctor Patricia Tannis ever willingly take up a position of leadership. She is a severely autistic woman who gets nose bleeds from talking to people she wouldn't just be like "I'm in charge now pls talk to me!!!" Fuck off. And the joke about her dating a minecart isn't funny. The whole thing with the chairs, though funny in its absurdities was still a very important and powerful moment of character exploration. Tannis is insane. She is traumatized and hurt and in a moment of severe torture, she humanized some inanimate objects to cope. Tannis crying over the echo over Phillip is a heartbreaking moment of true vulnerability. It is also funny, because that's how good dark comedy works. It can be both hysterical and emotionally ruining at the same time. So what exactly does Tannis divorcing a minecart mean? What is this saying about her character? Why is it funny? Because lol lol reference??? Again, fuck off.
I hate how the Calypso twins childhood is handled. Troy implies it was horribly abusive and traumatic. But when we met Typhon whatever, he acts like it wasn't that bad??? He acts like he just didn't buy his kids the latest iPhone and oh no whoopsie now they're evil, my bad guys. It feels super weird and I don't like it.
Speaking of abusive parents. THEY DID MY GIRL ANGEL DIRTY SO BAD. This was literally when I decided I hated this game. Angel being the one who killed her mother and not Jack was fucking horrible. Especially after the literal foreshadowing in borderlands 2 implying he did. The fact that Jack is treated like a fearful man making what he thought was the right decision was insulting. I get that MattPat manipulated the fandom into thing Jack is a uwu bean but fuck you, you're the writers and you should fucking know better. Handsome Jack saw his daughter had power and turned her into a living battery for him to use as he saw fit. He was not scared and he was NOT right. Fuck you and fuck you for framing child abuse as chill and ok if your spooked enough like that. And the mission directly contradicts the echo's in Get To Know Jack. If Angel killed her mom why does she ask Jack where her mommy is when he's putting her in her chambers?? Why is it in the echo Jack is aggressive and forcibly and hurtfully makes her go into her chambers but in the memory, he's quiet and passive about it?? That's literally just flat out bad writing. Also fuck you.
Anyway,
I think that's really all I wanted to say about this topic. Obviously, there are also things that suck about bl3 but I'll try to chill and not make this too long.
I mostly wanted to make this to see if people cared/are bothered by the same things I am. I've seen how some of the fandom treats the more emotional and gay aspects of this franchise(the people throwing a fit over Amara, the friend zone line, not respecting trans peoples pronouns, sexualizing and being gross about Moxxi)
Anyway that's it byeeeeeeeeeeeee
