I did the exact thing explained above and it yielded the same results.

Out of sheer curiosity, though, I wanted to see if there were any "buzz words" that were flagged specifically. So I replaced 'Donald Trump' with 'Kermit the Frog' and got the same garb about Community Guidelines.

Delving a little deeper, I searched each word by itself, 'Donald Trump,' 'rigged,' and 'election' all were searchable being US based and no VPN used at the time. However the full term of 'rigged election' was flagged immediately thereafter. Of course, with a VPN based outside of the US, it worked just fine.

I'm not trying to sway the conversation one way or the other, and I'm *definitely* not on the side of censorship. I just think tinkering a bit is interesting.

so the first screenshot is trying to look this up on tiktok normally, "donald trump rigged election" and it says that search violates community guidelines.

the second screenshot is looking up the same exact thing, but with a (australian) vpn on. canadian vpn didn't fix it fyi.

THIS is exactly the type of censorship to be looking out for on tiktok. this actually is crazy.

i think one of my biggest pet peeves is when you're trying to explain or delve deeper into a topic that's *a bit* more complex or challenging with someone and they immediately cut you off and resort to making jokes about their head hurting or dumbing it down to a cartoonish level for,,, comedic effect i guess
