Also want to note, based on the last post, that I'm now going to be shifting muses between the 'Primary' and 'Secondary' muses pages as appropriate.

I've wanted to do this for a while - as my muse fluctuates, shuffle the characters who I have most muse for onto the primary list and those who I'm currently less inspired for onto the secondary list - but it just didn't really work out when one list was using unique artwork for the characters and the other still just had screencaps, since mixing the two would look messy. Now that I can use the same style of image for both, though, I'm going to put this into practice ^^

“Outside of Sugar Rush?” Ralph repeated, extreme skepticism written all over his face. “Yeah, something tells me Turbo isn’t going to be too thrilled about that suggestion.” “Ohhh, I’m sure it’ll be fine.” Felix insisted, pushing the door open, “He’s been going along with everything else so far, right?” As soon as the pair of them stepped inside, the first thing they heard was the offended shouting from one very aggravated Cy-bug. “What kind of a fool do you take me for?!” When it came to Calhoun, King Candy had been trying to make a habit of staying relatively civil. But now, all of those efforts may as well have gone out the window the second she’d made such a ridiculous suggestion. “What’s wrong? I thought you were on our side.” Calhoun barbed him with his own words, folding her arms across her chest. “What’s the problem with doing one little favour?” Through grit fangs, King Candy snarled back, “If you think I’m stupid enough to make myself target practice for your little firing squad, you are sorely mistaken.” “What, now you’re afraid of getting shot?” Scoffing at that, Calhoun’s harsh eyes narrowed. “I think you’re full of bull. So much for the ‘helpful’ act, hm?” “C’mon Tammy, to be fair, you did kinda threaten to drag him outta Sugar Rush an’ ‘put him down’ once...” Vanellope hesitantly pointed out, casting nervous glances between the two characters glaring daggers at each other. “Ya gotta admit, that ain’t exactly the most reassuring sign…”

BEHOLD: MALWARE AU

So. We all know Turbo. He's kind of the flavour of the month right now. He's a horrible little piece of shit and we love him for that!

As a result of a couple posts that I'll link when I'm on desktop (or you can look through my blog its some of my most recent reblogs) and That One Video Essay I got to thinking about how much of Turbo's actions came from his nature, what cropped up out of desperation and jealousy, and what came from the nightmare virus that ate him. Then I got to writing. A lot. And now I have a monster fanfic that might or might not ever get written but I might actually explode if I don't share some of it.

This snippet revolves around Vanellope, mostly, and my continuous ongoing realization that modding/slightly retexturing video games is actually a lot easier than I thought it was. Enjoy!

Prologue

Vanellope hasn't been a part of her own game for 15 years. It's long since figured out how to function around her, but now King Candy's been dealt with via hot cola insecticide and she adamantly refuses to ride in his little vanilla-white kart. Not with her own baby waiting right there for her.

Except the game really really wants her to.

The kart bakery is supposed to be a fun side minigame. The kart lasts until the player stops feeding the game quarters, then it will restore itself to the default kart for the racer.

She's been carefully ignoring the crackling parts of code that bubble up around her when she revvs the engine too hard for days now, telling herself it was just remnants of her own glitch messing with her driving. But right after she crossed the finish line at the end of the final race of that day, it glitched so badly she was left lying on the track as it rammed itself into the boundary.

She'd spent most of that evening moping around and complaining under her breath about the mess her predecessor had left her - - until she thought huh. If Turbo could program his whole throne-stealing butt into the game, why couldn't she just... Slip in and fix her kart?

Sour Bill didn't seem happy at all when she slipped behind the curtain of her throne room (bleh. Needed to redecorate that soon. Way too princess-y for her taste), but he dutifully agreed to stand guard as she followed the instructions on the handy little piece of paper that lay discarded on the floor.

Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, START

Yes! She jumped into the darkness without thinking, entranced by the nebula of nodes and string of information that made the glitch constantly buzzing under her skin sing.

This is what she was meant for. This was why the game kept her around. It loved her.

Her node was easy to find, set in the center as it was with streams of code coming from it. She blipped up to it, and kicked her feet excitedly as she floated in place, and tapped it to enlarge it.

Wow, it really was easy. All she had to do was find her primary kart file, and swap it with the one in the Bakery's subfolder that held the information for her baby, and that was that. No wonder King Boogerface managed to mess things around so much, if what was all it took.

Task complete, she turned around to try and reorient herself to find the exit again, but a flickering node caught her eye.

It was strobing worse than any of the others, and there was no visible text on it to give any clue as to what it could be. She blipped over to it and tapped on it-

Only to be thrown backwards as it quadrupled in size, mangled streams of code now visible through it's translucent surface.

She glitched again to lose her momentum and stop somersaulting through the void, then back towards the code box. She reached a hand inside and flicked her wrist in a movement she instinctively remembered, and pressed confirm when the prompt came up to clear the cache memory.

It spluttered for a moment, then as if expelling a sickness the darkness bled from the body of the node and dissolved into the void, leaving behind a little red code box, smaller and less defined than the rest, connected to everything with only a thin strand but with it's pixelated text quite clear for her to read, and her breath hitched.

Hello! I'm sorry if this is a weird request at all, but do you think you could do turbo wreck it ralph age regression headcanons? I feel like it's an odd request, but he's one of my comfort characters from the movie and I hc him as an age regressor like me because of it

•Turbo’s age regression is often triggered by extreme stress or feelings of isolation. After being unplugged and forgotten by the arcade world, he starts regressing to a more childlike state as a coping mechanism. This allows him to retreat into a simpler, more innocent mindset where the complexities of his downfall don’t weigh on him as heavily

•Even in his regressed state, Turbo is still deeply attached to racing. He gravitates towards simple, classic racing games, ones with colorful, cartoonish graphics that remind him of his early days in "TurboTime". These games provide a sense of comfort and familiarity, almost like a security blanket

•Turbo, while regressed, exhibits behaviors like collecting toys, especially ones shaped like cars or other racing memorabilia. He might obsessively arrange them in neat rows or race them along imaginary tracks, finding solace in this innocent play

•He tends to seek out comfort from characters who exude a parental or protective vibe. For instance, he might be drawn to Felix’s steady, nurturing personality, despite their past enmity. Turbo might unconsciously see Felix as a safe figure, even if he’d never admit it when he’s in his adult mindset

•Routine becomes incredibly important to Turbo when he regresses. Simple things like following a set sequence in his day, starting up a racing game, eating candy from Sugar Rush, or watching other racers, provide a sense of stability. Disruptions to this routine could lead to anxiety or tantrums

•Sugar Rush as a Comfort Zone : Turbo’s regression finds comfort in the bright, candy-coated world of Sugar Rush. The whimsical, child-friendly environment allows him to indulge in innocent pleasures like munching on candy or playing harmless pranks, far removed from the ruthless, competitive world he once dominated !

•As a regressor, Turbo becomes more desperate for approval and validation from others, especially from those he admires or sees as authority figures. He might go to great lengths to be praised, such as by showing off his racing skills or trying to impress Vanellope or King Candy (before his true identity was revealed)

•During regression, Turbo often has vivid flashbacks to his early days in the arcade, before his downfall. These memories are both a comfort and a curse; they remind him of a time when everything was simpler and when he was adored as the best racer

•Turbo’s speech becomes more childlike when regressed. He might use simpler language, refer to himself in the third person, or speak in a high-pitched, sing-song voice, mimicking how he perceives a child would talk.

Hey there everyone! Welcome to the first night of the tenth annual Wreck-it Ralph Pin Post Month!

We're starting the month off small with the Uncas International, Vanellope in a Kart, Wreck-it Ralph pin. LE 500.

This pin was released as an exclusive by the Disney Pins Blog for their final release of 2022. The pin itself features Vanellope nestled in a smaller version of her candy kart. The colorful candy kart is covered in detail, sprinkles and wiggly strips of frosting adoring its glittery frame. All the while Vanellope sits calmly in her kart, waving with a friendly smile much like one would from the top of a parade float.

While this is an officially licensed pin by Disney, it is one also made by a third party company as stated in the pin's description. Uncas International, which is a producer of jewelry and accessories located in Road Island. I've noticed Disney's been reaching out to these third party's more often in recent years for exclusive pins, which results in unique designs and art styles. As well as other opportunities such as cheaper pins and the use of recycled material, such as those used in this pin. I enjoy the simple design of this pin as it reminds me of the earlier designs back when the movie first released. Which is why I believed it to be the perfect one to start our month on.

A Few weeks ago I read Ghost Boy by turbomun. Fanfiction/Drama. Originally written Nov-2012 to Jan-2013.

Never thought id be reviewing Fanfiction on this blog (I haven't been involved in any fandoms for years) but this did take me 2 days to read and I enjoyed it so...

This is a Wreck-It Ralph fanfiction with the classic fanfiction trope of "bad guy character looses their memories and forgets they were evil, and then the good guys get to interact with them and try to fix them".

I thought the beginning was the best part, where Turbo is in a bar angsting about how his creators made him look like a weird zombie and also physically and mentally 15 forever. and how everyone treats him like shit. and he's about to be replaced. the part where he wakes up what feels like the next morning and is told "yah you've been dead for like 25 years and your friends are also dead yah sorry." and him wondering why everyone is treating him like they think he's gonna do something bad.

I liked his interactions with Vanellope, they were very cute. i also liked his arc of feeling like he can act like the kid he is and not forcing himself to act like an adult. oh also I really liked the part where he puts his coin in the cup and it spits out his other name.

Now getting into the stuff i thought was mid: the Jackel & Hyde fanfic trope has never been my favorite, it's very emo and kinda cringe (in a bad way). i wasn't bothered to much by it's inclusion but i did groan when it showed up and i kinda wish the story hadn't gone in that direction. I didn't love the way a lot of the characters, especially Turbo, were super aware of what they were feeling and why, and said it out loud in these weird speeches. it felt very unsubtle and not how real people act, especially teenagers. the prose in this story were nothing to write home about. they weren't bad, but they wernt a highlight ether. they got the job done.

A decent fanfiction. Flawed but still enjoyable. 7/10

“Taffyta, Rancis…” Vanellope greeted them, giving an awkward glance their ex-ruler’s way. “I’m sure you remember King Candy… ahehe…” “Um. Since when is that allowed outside?” Taffyta asked, pointing her lollipop King Candy’s way. That being said, her snide tone was unable to mask the fear present within her eyes. “Oh, pardon me, I wasn’t aware I needed your permission.” He sneered right back, only for Vanellope to shoot a desperately pleading look his way. King Candy, albeit reluctantly, toned down the hostility in his voice, but not without a begrudging bug-like warble first. “I guess you could say I’m on bodyguard duty.” Vanellope had to muffle her laughter at the word ‘duty’, causing King Candy to cast her a most unimpressed stare. Taffyta and Rancis, on the other hand, exchanged uncertain glances with each other. “Uh, Vanny, are you sure that’s a good idea?” Rancis asked in a bit of a whisper, as if the Cy-bug wasn’t literally right there, “I mean, that’s kinda like Link going to Ganondorf for bodyguarding…”
