Saw that you recently posted a pining!cas ficlet. Do you happen to know more fics song the same lines? Jealous pining!cas? Feeling a bit vindictive so looking for some petty things to read.

It's an area of writing that I think is really underserved! I would like to read more in that very specific area but there isn't much, or at least I'm not willing to sieve through all of AO3 to find exactly the right vibe. I mean, I'm not vindictive, lol -- I am secure in my canon joys -- but there's this really narrow slice of wincest-with-pining!Cas that is really interesting to me. I'll actually just crib from a convo I had about this ages ago--

I don't want meanspirited wincest writer shit, and I don't want alas poor Cas :((( shit, and I don't want shipper-on-deck!Sam or weird homophobe Dean or all of the other hundred pitfalls (…that said, 'alas poor Cas' might be kinda reasonable for s13-15. Dean was straight-up mean to him, lol) [...] I guess part of the trouble is the same trouble with finding good gen. You've got to be on board with the emotional incest dynamic with Sam & Dean, even if you're going to keep it on the brotherly side, and understand that that is 50% of why Dean & Cas will never happen (or at least never happen the way Cas might wish it would). ((this aside from any potential sexuality barrier for Dean.)) then you have to be interested in enough in the canon dynamic to write a fic where they specifically don't hook up the number of people willing to write it in just that way is… uh… conservatively I'm gonna say 4

So those four people -- sing out! Tell us where the fics are! Friends who want a similar dynamic, pls rec stuff to us! Me and anon want to read it, it would be so interesting, give us it 🙏

Cas is right. Dean, with all of his free will intact, would NOT have murdered the Stynes kid.

Like Cas, with his free will intact, would never have murdered Samandriel.

Their assessments of one another are actually correct.

And essentially, they tell each other, "you're gonna have to go through me" (to become that).

They ask each other to: "Stop," both telling the other in so many words that "this isn't you."

Their styles differ, of course. Dean goads Cas defiantly: "Come on you coward, do it!" Cas tries to remain level-headed and controlled, only moving to block and restrain.

Essentially, their desires are the same, for the other to stop.

With everyone telling them who they should be, and trying to make them into things other than what their big hearts would actually want, they beg each other to stay as they are.

And here's what's on my mind... They were both GOOD at being soldiers. Unbelievably good.

Their talents were recognized early and exploited. They became chained to their respective battle aptitudes.

Both had to reckon with becoming addicted to war, to the feeling of adrenaline and black-and-white causes (see: Purgatory, hunting, etc.). Both often feel too much responsibility, punishing themselves and undertaking penance.

They struggled with thinking it's all they were good for, battle or WORK.

Or worse. For Dean, it was often being one of the "crazy ones," only "good for a fling." For Cas, it was often "being expendable."

They're looked down upon by the likes of Metatron: Cas is like a "dumb puppy," a "stupid, lumbering jock." Even Crowley talks to Dean this way on occasion: "It's math (idiot)."

It's also like when Death calls Cas a "stupid soldier." Or when the British Men of Letters call the ones on the ground doing the fighting and getting their hands dirty "dogs." Or when Henry calls hunters "apes."

Despite their supposed "legacy lineage," Sam and Dean inherited the Campbell class. The soldier class.

Interesting to me that Jack inherits this, too. Despite his aptitude for nearly everything he touches (computers, research, even blossoming machete skills when he kills Noah the Gorgon), Jack too will inherit this Campbell-coded "stupidity."

That's what Chuck charges him with in Unity: "TOO STUPID."

Jack has Cas and Dean's class: the soldier class.

if you're wondering why bob is here it's bc in the original villareal story there was a very minor background detail that diego lobo and bob pancakes dated in college and broke up tragically and that's where the story peaked. so i included him it's still canon

i did these in my this is the fall sim style so i'm thinking. if they exist in this universe what's all their opinions on the 'did jacques do it' situation. let's take a look

don: saw a photo of jacques's wife on the news during the investigation. said "whoa mama that's a hot babe!" like johnny bravo and did not read the headline. does not know anything about it still.

vlad: well he's psychic he could figure out the truth if he actually cared. and he has!

olive: obviously respects it. except for the getting investigated part, would never happen to her.

diego: does not think jacques did it but enjoys the tabloids. knows other rich people personally who he thinks have killed their spouses

morgyn: will post things like "friendly reminder that j*cques v*llareal literally killed his wife and is a billionaire so maybe don't go to one of their hotels" on tumblr and will then do a call out post about like a fanfic writer who wrote an unhealthy relationship with more severity

pascal: knows conspiracy theories and this one is bullshit. or maybe it just doesn't interest him as much as aliens and that's why he thinks that

jeb: has a very "well of course he did. them rich folk can do whatever they want. there ain't no hope for the rest of us" while kicking a can down the road approach

bob: thinks he did it. is very alarmed that it was brushed off. eliza's like bob book the hotel and he's like am i going crazy. does anyone hear me.

there's a lot of ships in the world that require subtext and imagination but samdean is definitely not one of them

What I long to read is some Cas meta from season 9.

Not all that whining about him not being allowed to stay in the bunker for a couple of weeks for Sam's sake, when Dean explained him why and apologized several times and Cas understood. But Cas' real issue in season 9:

the angels.

More exactly, the fact he (again) caused the death of countless members of his species while he was trying to do the right thing. Pretty sure that (and the fact they're hunting him) is traumatizing for him.

It's totally just my images-fuelled brain's fault but the pipeline from Chuck smiting Jack and Sam shooting Chuck to Sam shooting Cas and Cas smiting Not-Jack is kinda real.

my second time doing this challenge! it took me forever to try and come up with a story for this and i still got nothing. first of all highwayman as i've said is my favorite song of all time so. no pressure. then i thought it was funny that the next song was so different yet kind of similar in that there's some vague thread of immortality in both of them. then the third is just a love song so. idk. some kind of supernatural weirdness going on here.
