What I long to read is some Cas meta from season 9.

Not all that whining about him not being allowed to stay in the bunker for a couple of weeks for Sam's sake, when Dean explained him why and apologized several times and Cas understood. But Cas' real issue in season 9:

the angels.

More exactly, the fact he (again) caused the death of countless members of his species while he was trying to do the right thing. Pretty sure that (and the fact they're hunting him) is traumatizing for him.

Can’t believe they meant for Anna to be Dean’s serious love interest. She literally never did or said a single compelling thing.

Cas walked in, blew up every light bulb in the barn, didn’t blink at being stabbed or shot, knocked bobby out, then turned around and said “We need to talk, Dean… privately” with a little smirk and they’re surprised we liked him better?

It's 2025, you're watching a spn episode where dean and castiel have to steal the bow from a cupid who has made a gay couple fall in love for a spell whose remaining ingredients also have to do with angel-human love, and you laugh.

You laugh histerycally.

Destiel was so powerful by season 9 they honestly didn’t have any other choice than to force Dean to send Castiel away from both him and the bunker.

I mean, a human Cas in the bunker with Dean as his guide would have been so intimate. He’d have learned quickly from Dean how to feed his hungers, whether it was with food, a fight, or a fuck.

Cas safe and human and finally staying put. All of a sudden always within arms reach & dressed in Dean’s clothes. There’s no way they wouldn’t have gotten to know each other in the biblical sense.

after The Fall, when angels could no longer fly, I would’ve killed for a roadtrip between a bunch of angels. Just Cas driving 3-4 angels somewhere safe. These angels aren’t dead-set on killing Cas but they are still pissed. The silence is SO tense. Cas’ attempts at conversation make it even worse.

Cas: Sam taught me this roadtrip game—

Angels: did Sam also teach you how to be the most annoying mistake in existence, or does that come naturally?

I don't know if I can watch Castiel finally feel like he's going to be okay as a human, because the humans he trusts most, the ones he considers family, that he looks at and considers the best of humanity are there, they have him now, he's finally safe. Only for the man he loves to turn around and tell him to leave.
