what is the theory that ivan manipulated the event where till and mizi met the wagyein?

It's not a theory, actually! It's confirmed that Ivan orchestrated the whole event. The true reason as to why however is still unknown. The information provides more context to this scene, though:

During the earlier times of ALNST the most rational explanation for this scene was that Till ran after a flower crown (presumably Mizi's) and Ivan followed him in out of curiosity. Now we know that Ivan was conveniently just standing there because he was waiting.

Side note, I find it heartbreaking (and maybe a little funny, sorry) that Till most likely didn't notice Ivan in this scene. That's just like him, isn't it. Always too busy running after Mizi while Ivan trails behind, an ever-present shadow.

I'm not sure how Ivan manipulated the circumstances for both of them to end up there, but it is confirmed that everything was intentional. What strikes me most is how they describe this particular scene:

I can't copy down what they said word-for-word (Patreon info), but they described Ivan watching "creepily" as Till and Mizi are faced with danger. We know that Ivan was familiar with the Cerberus wagyein beforehand, enough to touch its teeth and even to rest himself inside its maw. To Ivan, the wagyein is not dangerous, but to Till and Mizi, it could be. Ivan prepared the wagyein, led them there, and watched "creepily" from afar as Till fell on his knees, seemingly injured.

The closest I can get to making sense of Ivan's "scheme" is that he wanted to see how other children would react in a dangerous situation. Ivan's always been an observer, after all, and he's learned to survive by copying the more "normal" behaviors of his peers. This situation occured when Ivan was still young and had not yet developed his more charming mask, so perhaps he staged this encounter to study a situational response, to learn and mimic the emotion of fear. And what better subjects for the experiment than two of the most expressive and reactive humans of their batch? It helps that he was already fixated on Till beforehand, too. I think Ivan became irreversibly obssessed after this incident, especially since it's framed as a turning point in Ivan's life, comparing Till to the stars.

This is just my attempt at an interpretation, though. It could very well be for another reason. He most likely chose Till and Mizi specifically for personal reasons, not just for reaction. I'm still not sure on the purpose behind the whole thing.

The team wanted to capture Ivan's "dark emotions" through the shot of his stalking, which could relate to his more sinister intentions. His gaze can be read in a few different ways, though. Curiosity, interest, fear, etc. Maybe that's why they decided to redraw the shot in ROUND 6.

I think this better sells the feeling they were trying to convey.

I'm really not a villain enjoyer. I love anti-heroes and anti-villains. But I can't see fictional evil separate from real evil. As in not that enjoying dark fiction means you condone it, but that all fiction holds up some kind of mirror to the world as it is. Killing innocent people doesn't make you an iconic lesbian girlboss it just makes you part of the mundane and stultifying black rot of the universe.

"But characters struggling with honour and goodness and the egoism of being good are so boring." Cool well some of us actually struggle with that stuff on the daily because being a good person is complicated and harder than being an edgelord.

Sure you can use fiction to explore the darkness of human nature and learn empathy, but the world doesn't actually suffer from a deficit of empathy for powerful and privileged people who do heinous stuff. You could literally kill a thousand babies in broad daylight and they'll find a way to blame your childhood trauma for it as long as you're white, cisgender, abled and attractive, and you'll be their poor little meow meow by the end of the week. Don't act like you're advocating for Quasimodo when you're just making Elon Musk hot, smart and gay.

Trump is in a decent position to win as of 11:25 EST and so many of the races he's winning are by such miniscule numbers. 5,000, 2,000 statewide and I'm sorry if you abstained and are just cool with it, fine. but this election will make some difficult choices for me and many like me and it just really sucks that so many people care more about an abstract point than the everyday rights of women in particular

like I know no one who abstained wants to hear from people it genuinely might affect, but I have a Peruvian in law who is legal (not a citizen) but who is very at risk of being sent back it Trump even pursues half of the things regarding immigrants he's promised. He has a wife who is American and relatives who have just come here legally with the hope to pursue citizenship which under project 2025 might not be possible for them

Also I'm sure out of everyone the last person you want to hear from is a middle class white bitch but I have wanted to be a mom my whole life and I've held off until I think I can give a baby the best life I possibly can. And I live in a state that might make the decision to kill me if I have complications that would result in an abortion and I legitimately am so scared of that I might temporarily move back to my home blue state, women have died in my state already because of this. Pregnancy is extremely daunting under the best of circumstances but our country's mortality rate for both babies and mothers continues to be under other developed nations and I know other people have it so much worse than me. But in the richest nation in the world it just really sucks that I have to decide between moving away from my house and husband if I get pregnant or staying in a state where I could die for VERY preventable reasons because the doctors were too afraid to give the care I needed.

Anyway I'm not trying to guilt people necessarily like I fucking get it but this does have immediate consequences for more people than just my family. And it just sucks.

i got to meet jen back in april, and today i got to meet mark! the absolute EUPHORIA of those meetings, 2 life goals coming true that i never thought i'd achieve, within the same year, all without leaving my australian city.

when i met jen, i made her cry (unintentionally!) but it spoke volumes to me that our meeting had that impact. today when i met mark, he asked if he could take his own photo of the art i had him sign, which spoke to me just as much, and both of them seemed truly happy to meet me.

i know i said it when i met jen but wow my life has really come full circle now. it's fulfilling, but i can't help but feel kind of sad too because, now what? what can mean more than this?

Finally, we were offered this quest to let The Empire test some weapons on us for a little over four days. All of these rewards could be useful.

Mechi can always use gold for his technology, and having the favour of The Empire might help us in finding the Archonexus in the future.

Alternatively, a tornado generator sounds like it could help us turn the tide of any battles that look to be going against us with just one colonist and a handful of mechanoids to hold the line.

Mechi would leap at the chance to gain new knowledge, especially if it meant he could do it without talking to anybody. For reference, his social skill is the only one he's absolutely useless at.

Or we could deny the quest and tell The Empire we want no part of their weapons test. What do we think, everyone?
