feng xin and mu qing are making me feel insane. every time they are in a scene together it’s about them. the tension between them is more potent than any romance it is a character unto itself. they never even fell out directly. they have never talked about it. they are working side-by-side in the job they dreamed about while growing up together. losing the friendship is still so raw that they cannot have a civil conversation. it has been seven hundred years of peacetime and they still have to be placed on opposite ends of the room at every social event. the moment xie lian is back both of them show up at his sides and fall back into their old bickering dynamic. and don’t confront the other about it despite their shitty disguises. after 700 years of not speaking. can you begin to imagine how much love is there. how much grief. jesus fucking christ.

Jolting awake, you felt fresh tears rolling past your cheeks and staining your pillow. Eyes wide, you scanned your surroundings. Same room, same bed, same pyjamas...

Was that all a dream? But... It had felt so terrifyingly real that you had woken up in a cold sweat with ugly tears streaming down your face. Heart palpitating, you tried to regulate your breathing and convinced yourself that it was just a dream.

Feeling a warm breath brush the back of your neck, you turned to see your boyfriend, Bokuto Kōtarō, sleeping soundly next to you. His breaths were slow and deep, and you watched as his bare chest rose and fell. With a beefy arm slung over your waist, he held you close to him throughout the night, keeping you warm. The dim moonlight from your window illuminated his features and his face looked so peaceful (and beautiful) you couldn't help but stare.

Breathing a sigh of relief, you soaked up the warmth radiating from his body. Not wanting to wake him, you furiously wiped the tears from your cheeks and tried to quiet your sobs.

Unfortunately for you, Bokuto's hearing was as sharp as an owl's, and he stirred with a groggy "Y/n?"

A sniffle.

He jerked his head up to look at you clearly. Your head was buried in his chest. "Y/n?"

Another sniffle. He was starting to panic.

"Babe! Babe, what happened?" He asked softly, placing a hand under your chin and tilting your head up. He swore he heard his heart go crack when he saw your tears. You responded by burying your face in his neck again.

Realising you probably weren't ready to talk just yet, he decided to distract you first. Pulling your trembling body to his, he gently rubbed circles on your back and pressed a sweet kiss to your temple.

He hummed, "You know, I was thinking the other day. Maybe we could install a small spinning light thingy in the corner of our room so it's not so dark at night. I know you don't really like it when it's pitch black in the room sooo I figured maybe that could help! I was scrolling online and saw some designs I thought you'd like, but I forgot to copy the link to send it to you but I can look for it again and show it to you later-"

He paused abruptly when you raised your head, sitting up and looking at him with a half-smile on your face.

"You okay?" He asked, concern taking over his features. He shifted so that you both were half sitting with your legs still tangled under the blanket. "Wanna talk about it?"

With yet another sniffle, you nodded. As you recounted your nightmare, Bokuto continued rubbing your arm soothingly, occasionally wiping away your tears with his thumb. His head was tilted to the side in the most adorable fashion and his eyes were fully focused on you as you spoke.

"And... and then you died," You whispered, voice hoarse and shaky. Looking into his bright amber eyes, you continued. "It was so scary, Kō..."

"But I’m right here, aren’t I?" He asked almost immediately. Bending down to your eye level, he looked at you with such a pure and genuine smile. Your heart beat faster under his gaze.

"And I’m gonna be right here forever. I’ll be here when you wake up from bad dreams and good dreams, and I’ll be here on the nights you can’t fall asleep. I’ll be your protector, Y/n!” He continued, beaming. He swiftly placed a kiss on your forehead. “I’ll protect you from all the nightmares, I promise! And see? I’m totally fine! Those killers ain't got nothing on us. I won’t let ‘em touch my baby.”

He concluded his little cheer-up speech with a sweet kiss on your lips. His hand brushed your jaw, pulling you closer. If you weren’t seated firmly on the bed, your knees probably would’ve given out from how sweet the kiss was. Either that or you would’ve gotten severe cavities before the kiss ended.

Pulling away, he wrapped you up in his arms and you felt your lips pull into a smile. His cheery mood really was contagious.

Gently pushing you into a lying position, he grabbed the blanket and pulled it over your bodies, essentially bundling the two of you together.

“Time to get some sleep, babe. I’ll be right here, ‘kay?” He said, now hugging you under the covers. You hummed, feeling safe and content.

“Oh yeah, we should definitely get a spinning light thingy. It might help with the nightmares ‘cause it won’t be as dark,” you piped up. Chuckling, Bokuto agreed.

“I love you,” he whispered, closing his eyes.

“I love you more,” you yawned.

“I love you the most-est!”

You felt another kiss on the crown of your head before you drifted off to sleep.

Ok ok ok Royal au Royal au ararararah

now to yap about my Royal au cause I’m normal. (Longer post- I just infodump about my AU basically-)

So what I have in drafts is all mainly brothers or prison duo centric, as if you know my fics I usually write from Icarus’s perspective on things. The main ships I would be focusing on are ghaae, nightingstar, Wolftross, and then prison duo- but I have cameos of all of the cannon ships of course. I’m gonna kind of just go through and explain roles of my main guys tho- so hope you like this as a sort of starting summary? I guess?

Icarus is the crown prince of the gilded kingdom. Basically the other full representative of the overworld who’s not Fable. Basically, they are heir to the throne, have to maintain a public image, help Fable out with royal duties and pretty much prepare to be the next monarch to ensure a smooth transition if “mortal king Fable” passes away. (He can’t die- I’ll get to that maybe- but yknow. God.)

I’ll talk about Isla and things later in this post, so I won’t mention it now- but yeah. Icarus is the only heir to the gilded kingdom.

Centross is Icarus’s bodyguard (yes I’m going down that road for the prison duo content. I’m so unpredictable /silly/sarc/lh) Royal guard? Close enough probably. Which- idk if I have to get into what he does. I think you can assume. Protection stuff. He was a former assassin, having used to work with Enderian. I’m doing a cliche maybe- but- yknow- he was sent to kill Icarus, ended up unable to do so… so now he’s a bodyguard for them instead of going back to Enderian. (There’s probably a promise of mutual protection somewhere- I’m sure Icarus would not have let Fable give them a bodyguard before then, and when he did they’d make it everyone’s problem- instead wanting to prove they could protect themself. There’s something there. Yeah.)

Wolftross is yes a thing, I think they were probably together for a while- maybe not long after he first became a royal guard. At Icarus’s request, he can visit Fenris whenever he wants probably. Easton replaces him when he’s gone (even after he became blind- at Icarus’s request he will continue that role. They trust him- and he’s capable.)

In the one thing I wrote, I gave him end features as well. I’m moreso debating on that- but I think it’d be a cool thing as a byproduct of being one of Enderian’s closest advisors and trusted assasin. Or- I give them to him later when he gets to be god. He gets them at some point- for me.

Rae is the crown prince of the end kingdom- full representative of the end that is not Enderian. I’d think she gives him more freedom than Icarus gets from fable, her being the end mother she is. She did have the same I guess cruel past that she does in cannon- I’m trying to figure out how I’m translating s1 into this AU still, and maybe you’ll get a oneshot of that eventually. Atleast the prison arc- of course. He left the gilded kingdom (either with Isla, or later on his own I have drafts for. But- probably with Isla) and lived with Isla for a bit- she runs for help from soul and things like in cannon and she helps hide them for a bit. Though- Isla ends up having Rae stay with Enderian. She probably stays as long as she can without compermising Rae’s safety, but maybe gets caught by Fable eventually.

Fenris is Rae’s bodyguard. He is a former general for the Nether’s army, just like in cannon. (I have to rewatch some of his lore before confidently talking about how he gets to become Rae’s bodyguard, so I’m sorry I won’t have too much info at the moment <3)

He becomes Rae’s bodyguard later- Enderian probably heard of his reputation as “the wolf” and hired him. (May try to include the wolf arc- but am again, trying to figure out how to integrate it.)

Now- basic plot summary? Something of the sort? Yeah. Some random details too cause I have no one train of thought ever and am just writing whatever I think of down. /lh

So for some backstory- Islas story is basically the same as in lore. But it changes for that bit after Rae was born just to adhere to the different circumstances Royal AU brings to the table. So, Rae grows a bit before Isla takes him and runs in this AU- he’s older, couldn’t tell you how old (age is a lie/silly/j) but just. A child. She notices how he’s being treated by Fable, takes him and leaves. She doesn’t take Icarus. There’s a lot of consideration for that fact- of course there is. Their her child. But- they’re not close, Fable makes sure of that. They spend most of their time with him, and their his heir after all. Their disappearance would be the worst to explain. So she doesn’t take them with her.

She takes Rae, and over the course of a few years- stays in a sort of safe house like in cannon, learns the things she does there, goes to soul for help, all that stuff. But she ends up taking Rae to Enderian, he becomes crown prince. She stays with them until it compromises Rae’s safety. Fable finds her, she doesn’t give away that she’d stayed with Enderian and that stays secret for a long time. Fable finds her, messes with her memories and things (he’s messed with Icarus’s too at this point- probably erasing Rae entirely) end she goes into a coma. He locks her away, Icarus doesn’t even know she’s here- and ends up having no memories of her anyways. Only fable knows where she’s locked away. Some tower in the castle sleeping beauty style probably.

Rae grows up in the end kingdom, Icarus grows up in the overworld.

Rae meets Caspian in the end prison- advocating for his freedom and things. He gets him a place in the end kingdom, and they get together at a peaceful festival in the overworld. That is an annual festival- Rae meets aax and takes her there too. He and Cas talk- and probably end up asking Aax out there too- making a whole day out of it probably. It’s a tradition for them, after all.

Aax lives with Cas, and Rae stays with them on weekends? Mayhaps? Something like that. He’s allowed to visit them whenever.

I like to think maybe Cas helps Athena and Bruin run the bakery on occasion. Bed and breakfast. Idk. Rae is definelty still the taste tester on Aax safe foods. And also a waiter on opening day for multiple reasons- one, it’s funny- two, yknow. Royal press. Media(?) purposes. Yknow what I mean hopefully.

Also- end kingdom I think had parts in the overworld and end? Like- overworld has the stronghold portal as the center and then made a kingdom around that, and then there’s an end part of the kingdom. This was probably a result of a peace treaty Isla had led years before between the realms after the war. Because badass mother deserves it. But to explain that- yeah. I think the Nether doesn’t- but has a trading hub spreading through portals and things. Yknow. Just not kingdom- I think the overworld is still more cold to people from the nether so. No kingdom. But portals can be made anywhere instead of having just one like the end, so that makes sense.

Gilded kingdom is just the biggest kingdom in the overworld areas we know- as Fable is the god of creation. I just have cool ideas for kingdom designs. May build them in Minecraft actually who knows- (if I do I will in fact post the pictures)

The Aether kingdom was a thing for souls and stuff as it was in cannon, but fell the same way. Alerion and Will live peacefully in one of the overworld kingdoms living normal lives away from everything, as they deserve.

A lot of the fable characters probably lives in the overworld, and just travel between realms.

Athena’s house probably has an area like his lab, where half is in the overworld and half is in the nether. If not, maybe their bed and breakfast- or atleast she has some nether bakery locations maybe with nether specific treats! Cause I think they deserve it and I just think it’d be cool.

Will has a cartographers shop in his village- like a cartographer villager type thing.

Rae has his archives he runs in his kingdom, there are two- one in the overworld part and one in the nether.

Starbarks definelty exists, does Fenris cannonly in this AU run all of the businesses he runs in actual cannon? Probably not. Do they exist? Probably.

Ven works as a close advisor for Fable, and Ari is hired as a knight or general of a sort for fable. Maybe more like a spy. Cat scratch records exist probably.

The world sisters do exist, most likely- (logistically if this was like a alternate “fable raises Icarus AU” they probably wouldn’t but I can do what I want and I say they’re here cause I love them- /silly)

Addie- Addie idk- maybe they work on like a night shift for the archives? Or like as an intern.

Ulysses- idk where to put Ulysses. Oh you silly fish man you. I will incorporate all the telchin stuff, definetly, I think just think of the cannon lore for that one.

Also- Quixis is there somewhere. Probably not in the same way for plot- but gotta include them in every au somehow /silly

sorry for nagging you but i wanted to ask if you have some tips on making comics. I’ve trying making many comics but i always lose motivation and can’t seem to get past even the first panel sometimes.

I did make a pretty long post here, with some advice for starting out! But that’s more technical I guess, and it sounds like maybe you’re looking for some motivational advice? So in addition to that post, I’d say…

Don’t look at these panels where you’re stuck as failures. Look at them, instead, as first drafts!! Keep the early planning stages loose, so it doesn’t feel like an arrow to the heart if you have to make changes. Many artists need to see their thoughts collected somewhere before they can refine things and move on to the next stage. Another big thing is learning to be okay with throwing those drafts away when they become more of a roadblock than a step towards that awesome, final version you’ve got knocking around in your head.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve spent an hour plotting the composition of a panel…or maybe I’ve gotten too focused on the little details of a character’s expression, but the rest of the shot has just….idk died. I’ll copy and paste what I did like, and delete what’s not working or I’ll completely start over, no fuss. Wipe my hands of it and refuse to look at it as a failure. If I drew it once, I can draw it again! Practice isn’t time wasted, it’s time invested into growing! Drawing is drawing!

It’s always good to look back at your work, so you can see your improvement, but only focusing on your unfinished pieces might be doing more harm than good.

And maybe, you don’t have to draw a full 10 page comic from the get go! Try experimenting with shorter form comics! You can tell quite a number of stories in just a few panels! Learning the ins and outs of something new is a lot easier to accomplish when it’s done in smaller increments. That way you can have that feeling of success more often and it’ll motivate you into not giving up!

When I started EW, I was doing parts in like, one or two pages! Because I was still nailing down the comic techniques I wanted to employ. I was gathering brushes and learning how and when to use them! Learning how to create compositions that worked around dialogue bubbles! All the boring parts of comic creating lol. But then, the more comfortable I became with those techniques, the less time they took, and I could really go wild with the creative aspect! Now my updates are much longer!

It’s just a process. But at some point, all the advice and resources in the world can only help so much. You have to be willing to put in the time!

I’d say it’s kinda similar advice they give when you start working out. When you’re first starting, and you try to do more than your body is comfortable with, you’ll be in a lot of pain and won’t want to continue. It’s easy to give up if you’re not seeing results and you feel like you’re wasting your time. But if you start in a reasonable place, and let yourself learn as you go, then you can gain good habits and it’ll get easier!

And only then, when it’s easy, that’s when you challenge yourself! Not when you’re already struggling with just starting! Or it won’t be fun and all of your drive will disappear!

And that’s really what you’re doing this all for, right? For fun!

I will list five here!

1. We Should Just Kiss (Like Real People Do)

I’m actually pretty proud of this fic because it’s the first one I wrote after a pretty long hiatus and I was very nervous about it because a) it was my first fic for a new fandom b) it has explicit sexual content and I wasn’t sure if could pull it off nicely c) writing calamity xie lian and wu ming was a task alright like this fic took me almost a month i guess?? and d) since it was something I’d written after so long I was nervous my writing would be crappy

But people liked it and even I was very satisfied and pleased with how it turned out in the end! I’m pretty proud of it. Idk how I was inspired to write this fic because I started on a draft of it in the notes app of my phone while I was commuting back to home after my internship (harrowing experience fr)

(Maybe the fic made me channel out all my frustrations caused by the internship via xie lian)

2. I Really Like Your Company

I love this fic because it’s the first multi chapter fic I completed and posted. Also because it was my lifeline fr while I was grappling with many things. I’d started it as a gift for one of my dear friends and then it just became so much more. It’s so warm and comforting.

I was throwing in tropes and all cute stuff I could imagine in it and it made me happy. Writing that fic, getting comments on it made me very happy. I love that fic.

3. Once More We Try

Okay I’m actually still working on this fic and as a matter of fact I was working on its latest chapter before this and I truly think this fic has quickly become one of my favourites because I love writing all the characters in it so much. There’s so much to explore and so much to write and it’s a challenge but such a good challenge!

Idk how I got the inspiration for the fic I was just scrolling through tumblr one day and I randomly got this thought that huh what if SY had died instead of throwing Binghe in the abyss? And then I posted that idea and.

IT BLEW UP?

so I thought whoa why wait for someone else to write it when I can write it so I got down to business and here we are! It’s super fun. I love this fic so much. It’s also my first fic for scum villain fandom and I’m so glad it’s been so well received ❤️

4. Song of The River City

Another TGCF fanfic! I’ve put it on hold for now as I’m planning to complete OMWT before I get back to it. I’m actually very proud of this AU where we have ghost king! Xie Lian who had died during the hundred sword scene and cultivator! Hua Cheng (who had dispersed his soul as Wu Ming and was re incarcerated as the cultivator). I’m planning to do great things with this AU and I also love writing a darker XL.

The inspiration for this fic was that I was just thinking about the hundred sword scene and I thought, huh what if that guy died here? So I got down to work.

I love this fic and writing all the characters in it and plotting out the backstories is very fun! Especially the latest chapter where I’d posted the fengqing backstory is one of my favourites. I’m proud of it.

5. I Remember It

So this is just 100 words long and I love this fic because I feel like I managed to break mine and all its readers hearts in so few words. I love writing drabbles because they are always a good challenge for me and this one is a particular favorite of mine. The inspiration for it was actually a fic idea that I later scrapped away. The fic was supposed to be from the pov of snowbaz’s kid and her experience with them as she got older and they aged too and yeah.. somehow it turned into that.

save for the dual destinies dlc case, i’ve finished my first play through of the mainline ace attorney games. incredibly solid series. i have a draft with my thoughts on each case in the aj trilogy + game ratings. dunno if i’d wanna post it though, it’s kinda long.

so instead, i’ll post some misc thoughts about phoenix and edgeworth portrayals across mainline/aai + my personal favorite interpretations of them by the writing team!

spoilers for AA mainline and AAI duology

by far, my favorite phoenix portrayal is og trilogy phoenix. the way he interacts with his environment and the people around him is very authentic, albeit rude as hell (which, in hindsight, is even more authentic for phoenix, so…). saw someone’s tumblr post mention that phoenix is such a “straight guy” which…yeah LMAO. real to life accuracy, so much so it’s infuriating. i think what i’ve played of dd’s dlc case captures what i wanted to see from post-trilogy phoenix in that he’s still an asshole and comically stupid, but not actually stupid, if ykwim. something i disliked abt the rest of aa5 and aa6 is how the writing team watered his character down to the following two oversimplifications: “phoenix only wins cases bc he bluffs!” and “uhh...what evidence does phoenix present now?”

don’t mistake a silly man for a stupid man. mia calls phoenix a genius in the og trilogy. phoenix dives in head first but he’s meticulous when it comes to drawing out the truth. most of all, he doesn’t outwardly show how frazzled he is (see that one drew misham quote about phoenix quietly watching the court as he’s accused of forging evidence), even if he feels that way. i get the colorful usage of expressions is for comedic effect but it just makes him look like he doesn’t know wtf he’s doing, and that’s a disservice to his character. yes, he bluffs, but he isn’t clueless. anyway, i’m excited to replay the first trilogy now that i “know” second trilogy phoenix. that might also just be my way of saying “give me back MY phoenix”, bc the last time i’m (mostly) on board w his portrayal is in aa4, and even then i didn’t like the dialogue in his forged evidence trial.

*though, as of writing this, i’ve seen some good arguments abt his forged evidence trial dialogue that make me think ok maybe it was actually pretty accurate. let’s see wht i think on replay

on the other hand, my favorite edgeworth—at least in principle—is post-apollo justice edgeworth. in many ways, i think how he’s portrayed at 35 is how he would’ve been had dl-6 not occurred, barring his career choice. still a bit pompous, still fairly mean (at least on the surface, we all know he cares more than he lets on) and perhaps a bit uptight, but self-assured and just. the writing team makes a point to show that edgeworth doesn’t care about prestige or fancy titles. that feels like him in a way post-first trilogy edgeworth doesn’t. this particular point was fleshed out in aa1 and rfta, tho, so idk if i can give yamazaki credit for it.

there are some things that will always bother me abt post-first trilogy edgeworth (the problems are present in the aai duology as well) where the writing team shoves him into a box teeming with boring tropes for his character archetype.

edgeworth is fine w pictures in the first trilogy, but comes to hate them in the aai duology.

ik it’s small but honestly what was the reason? what justification is there for this outside of wanting to fit edgeworth into a “cold character” stereotype?

bridge to the turnabout and turnabout ablaze are only about a month apart. i’m not buying into the sudden aversion to picture taking, regardless how minute a criticism it is. in any case, i feel like what i’m trying to say comes through w these screenshots: yamazaki’s edgeworth is always just a little off.

i am forgetting where i saw the post and i have too many liked posts to scroll thru to find it again but i saw a reblog?? tumblr post?? abt yamazaki and takumi’s diff approaches to edgeworth, where takumi says edgeworth listens to trot while yamazaki thinks he’d listen to classical music, and if that doesn’t drive the point home, idk wht will.

why then, did i enjoy post-aj edgeworth most? short answer is i’m taking liberties w his development and its implications. while i never completely buy into post-aa3 edgeworth, i can digest and get behind most of him when i’m not nitpicking, unlike w post-aj phoenix. does edgeworth feel a little uninspired and one- as opposed to three-dimensional? yeah, but his core is so strong i can overlook it. i’ll miss seeing a developed edgeworth when replaying the trilogy. him at 35 makes me feel warm inside.

anyway, i didn’t intend to start hating when i made this post bc i ultimately still believe the second trilogy was pretty good, if not overly ambitious with it's storytelling. maybe i'll post that AJ trilogy review.

overall, tho, t&t and aai2 were my favorite games to come out of the franchise. i’m going to do that slow replay of the first trilogy, aai duology, and aj:aa before making final judgments.

So like… it’s been a month since I updated Windwheel aster, as an apology for not posting yet I thought I’d give you all an update on my progress????

Chapter title still unknown but it will start with ‘T’

Currently I’m on part 3 of my 10 scenes. 5839 words or 13 pages so far (I really wish it was more I’m so sorry-)

- Aether is on the verge of insanity and is in desperate need of sleep.

- Decarabian is having his center of attention era.

- Venti is frightened and taking after Rosaria.

- And rosemary is a pile of wool (mentally)

Probably i guess this is the end. It takes place during jjk 0 from Gojo’s pov when he murks his bf and it’s basically just angst without happy ending.

The vast majority of my fics have happy endings, but I’d say it’s probably my Christmas bkak fic kiss me once, then kiss me twice, then kiss me once again simply because there’s basically no angst whereas my other fics all have some kind of angst in them somewhere.

I don’t, but that’s just a preference of mine.

I’ve been very lucky to have received only kindness! The worst thing I’ve read on one of my fics was that the angst was resolved too quickly but they still enjoyed it lol.

I have an old bokuaka draft of them having a contentious meet cute at a corner store that I’d love to get back to one day, but I don’t really have much content in mind for it so idk if that will ever happen.

Characterization and dialogue, I’d say! I’ve been told I’m really good at staying consistent with characterization and that my dialogue sounds natural and flows really well.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I overexplain or overstate things. I try to really make sure some things are clear and in doing that I dumb down my writing :P fortunately my wonderful beta reader helps to keep me aware of that!

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?

Yeah sure why not? I’m only fluent in English, but I don’t mind when another language is used, Google exists for a reason and typically the author will give the translation in the notes.

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

ARCANE. I DESPERATELY WANT TO WRITE AN ARCANE JAYVIK FIC. I have two ideas in mind: a deeper, more emotional and soft fic before s2 when they’re just partners and another one where they fuck in front of the Hexgate in s2 lol.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

A real sophie’s choice. It’s a battle between my iwaoi fic you’ll always know me which I hold extremely close to my heart but I cringe at many of the decisions I made looking back (still love it though) and my jjk post canon fic things i would miss from the other side. I think the latter one is some of my best writing!

Hmmmmm favorites, I’ve made a lot for tsams in past tho I dunno if you’d be interested in those, right now I have a couple jrwi aus I’ve been thinking about a lot. I can’t believe I haven’t actually posted anything about them but if you’d be interested in hearing me ramble;

I’ve got two bigger ones that I’ve slowly been working on, one I call “he drowned the world” and it’s an au where Gillion, way before the events in riptide, did a big thing and the ocean rose up and flooded the entire world. The people still alive made big ol’ floating cities like boats on the ocean. I thought the idea of the whole land, sea, one will overtake the other prophecy stuff would be interesting to explore. I plotted a mini story in the universe though it still needs lots of plot working before I could ever write and post the actual thing.

The current version has Chip meeting Gillion in a above water prison (I need to figure out a solid reason why he’s there) and then freeing him and sailing on a little mini adventure. There were older versions where Chip was in an underwater air city and Gillion was a royal of some kind but I changed it for various reasons.

I have some designs I drew of Gillion in some outfits for the au, more for the old version but could work with the new;

The other biggish story was one branching off a superhero au I drafted, where Chip, Gillion, and Jay are superheroes and Niklaus is a big supervillain. The branching story was instead of Albatrio being superheroes I made them kids and decided let’s give them to Niklaus and mess around with that. Currently I’m calling it “my villainous children”.

I’ve got some fun plot points thought up with like Chip falling for a hero in training and wanting to play hero to get closer to him and Gillion discovering an interest in heroism himself, with both of them trying to hide it from Nik since Niklaus expects them to become supervillains like him or civilians at least.

Art wise here’s An old design for normal superhero Gill plus a Jay design I had sitting in my drafts for some reason (looks finished idk why I never saved it but I didn’t);

Thinking about it these sound like big projects but they’re very unfinished. they’re cool ideas that I’d love to explore with time, but very likely i’ll lose interest before then, which is why I put these in one off catagory. More accurately one offs I have these guys just singular characters, like I made a design for a vampire Chip, a Vampire hunter Gillion, an Emo Gillion, and a triton Pretzel which I never posted;

None of them have major stories but little ideas that run around in my head occasionally. Honestly I just really enjoy the process of making designs.

“holy shit” I breathed. The offical Aston Martin formula 1 account had just reposted your story for their employee appreciation post of the week. I’d barely been working 6 months full time for them in their media and administration departments.

They had already shown me so much love since I began my journey and I just new this was exactly where I wanted to be. I set my phone down as i lay on the plush hotel room bed, hair up in a towel & back to the headboard. Lost in my thoughts, head swirling with gratitude for the life I was now living.

A loud ding from my phone which has been sitting on my lap brought me out of my daydreaming daze, my eyes lightly scanning across the screen to the new notifications.

I could not believe my eyes, he had to be kidding right?

There was no way he decided to do this on his own accord me, I mean we had talked once or twice during media duties or in passing at the motor home. Small exchanges of polite smiles and quiet hellos before morning meetings or in the cafeteria on lunch breaks but I would’ve never bet my bottom dollar on something like this happening.

I had started on it, and then, for the longest time, it was in my drafts and yesterday, I finally sat down and wrote it out. and it was honestly so fascinating to explore this aspect of lee's character, and I just love yapping about her as a character in general, so thank you so so much for both sending in this ask and actually wanting to hear my thoughts on this element of lee :") disclaimer: while I did do some research on selective mutism for this, this post is by no means meant to be used as a source for how selective mutism is treated!! because my research wasn't super in-depth, I can't guarantee that all of this information is one hundred percent accurate to the real experience of selective mutism. divider by: @lil-liaa

oh, I totally agree with you. all her scenes as a child in the film are of her not speaking at all, so I definitely think the film, at the very least, heavily implies she has selective mutism

I could see it being a result of situations she finds anxiety-inducing or socially uncomfortable. because I'm thinking of the scene when her mom tells her she has the day off for lee's birthday, and lee doesn't really say anything. maybe this is a sign that even with ruth, someone who she's comfortable enough to share physical affection with, there are still situations where she is unable to speak. considering how affectionate and vulnerable the moment is, with ruth stroking her arm and confirming she took time off from lee, maybe this is a sign that lee wasn't able to speak in moreso emotional circumstances? I could see that being the case, considering how even as an adult, she definitely struggles to honestly communicate her emotions, as well as accept emotional comfort/affection (such as saying nothing when browning assures her that she'll wait for lee)

and yeah, it definitely is something that's apparent in her interaction with kobble. like, he's a stranger who's interacting with her in a way she's not used to, and I could definitely see that triggering her anxiety and making her unable to talk with him. I also read that children do, you know, absorb and take note of how their parents will swoop in to help them out, so I'm sure when ruth shows up, that makes lee feel even more assured that she won't need to talk to this stranger

like, based on her expression when kobble pops up at the beginning, I do think she's definitely uncomfortable and put off by him being there. sure, she snaps his picture, so maybe she's not super put off, or just doesn't realize the social implications of photographing someone (ie. it usually being in an interaction/bond of comfortability), but yeah, he's a stranger, and a rather odd one too, and with that comes automatic discomfort.

I searched up possible reasons for selective mutism, and while there is a broad range of them, I think for lee, the reasons are most likely anxiety, her difficulties with socializing, and the fact that her and her mother were so isolated all through her childhood, which very much limited her opportunities to socialize with others. this probably was further exacerbated by ruth's general distrust with the world outside of them too

I think ruth would kind of have to intervene eventually -- maybe kobble's encounter with lee would make her a lot more afraid, worrying that lee's aversion to speaking with strangers could cause her harm. or maybe even apart from that, she'd just be generally worried for lee, whose teachers have spoken to ruth about her being socially isolated from everyone else

I think ruth would first try to coax lee into talking where moments where she is still present. having her mom there makes lee more comfortable by default, though the fact that ruth is no longer speaking on behalf of her definitely makes her uncomfortable. but, just as ruth had warned lee of days before, she wants lee to try on her own

and so she does. she tries to model after how she's observed other people talking, and though it's struggle, she manages. and to help through the process, ruth gets lee a type of soda she likes or lets lee choose the movie they'll watch that day

and lee's an independent kid, right? so, I feel like after enough practice with her mom, ruth would encourage lee to do some tasks on her own, like pick up a delivery from the post office, or get some groceries by herself. at first, lee is highly uncomfortable with the prospect of talking to all these strangers, but the stubborn part of her wants to prove to herself and her mom that she can do it. so, she pushes herself to go about these tasks, stumble through her words, then return successfully

and idk, part of me feels that post-kobble-encounter, when ruth starts going through changes in her behaviour, lee, as she grows older, would feel it even more necessary to depend on herself and her ability to communicate. her mother is slowly fading away, her home is becoming a place she dreads to return to -- she needs to ensure that she no longer needs to rely on ruth for these things, so that one day, she can leave this place

I feel like as an adult, the selective mutism may still occur sometimes, but it's rare, far in between, and only occurs during moments of immense anxiety and fear. but, for the most part now, she's found ways to manage her discomfort with socializing, as well as the anxiety she deals with regarding unfamiliar people/situations

On AoI now and in an Everlark AU you could lift this Gilbert line following Anne's refusal of him right out for Peeta:

Also, I've been trying to settle on a Phil and I've settled that personality-wise and being surprised by love, it's Finnick, even though with historical accuracy he'd never be able to make house with Katniss and whoever else rounds out Patty's Place. This is the passage that made it stick for me:

"I couldn’t really believe before that Jonas would ever care for frivolous me.” “Phil, you’re not really frivolous,” said Anne gravely. “‘Way down underneath that frivolous exterior of yours you’ve got a dear, loyal, womanly little soul. In my drafts, I have Katniss, Madge, and Johanna in a house together. For some reason Peeta is boarding at Mags house where Annie, her niece, also lives… idk if that makes sense for the time period, so maybe Mags should be his aunt as well and that would make it okay? Or maybe I should just put Katniss, Jo, and Madge in Mag’s house with Annie? Which make me wonder why I didn’t have Annie in school herself (maybe she already graduated? Idk?)

Either way: Finnick was definitely in the mix too. I found this and I really don’t know where I was going with it except that the Katniss & Finnick pairing is always a favorite and they’d find each other and wreak havoc in any au.

The biggest surprise of my time here at Capital is an unlikely friendship I have made with Finnick Odair. If I was fanciful like Prim I would call him a kindred spirit, but I’m not sure how that makes sense since I’ve never met anyone who on first inspection appear more the opposite of me.

We met at the first year social, though he is really in his third. I was standing in the corner with Madge and Peeta and he caught me in a rare smile.

This would be for [REDACTED FOR MY SAFETY] fandom. Both characters were left for dead after a ruthless battle, one of them shown to be alive only through his own narration. The other was not shown by the end of the fic to have made it. He did, ultimately, but that only came up in a sequel.

I generally use italics for it, unless it’s ASL, because I’ve had Deaf people in the spaces I write say that they want it to be treated on the same level as English.

lady macbeth in macbeth: lady macbeth is such a coveted role in general and you cannot tell me grell wouldn’t absolutely eat it UP. she very much has the right vibe for the role (and the look! this painting of ellen terry as lady macbeth reminds me so much of her) but also on a metatextual level grell would definitely have an interesting approach to playing the role bc of what lady macbeth stands for thematically. lady macbeth’s relationship to motherhood (and arguably womanhood in general) clashes with grell’s own and i think grell would have fun delving into that as an actress. in general lady macbeth is very grell but simultaneously different enough that she’d still have fun playing her

juliet in romeo and juliet: juliet is just such a classic character that there’s no way grell isn’t clamoring to play her. grell is a huge romantic too and she’s referenced romeo and juliet so like. yeah duh

ophelia in hamlet: she already did this in that one ova so DUH. except she’d take the role very seriously fuck what the ova says. grell does not play about ophelia she gets her she’d be so into that role

portia in the merchant of venice: i ran out of interesting things to say this is just the kind of role she’d take

i literally only put thought into the lady macbeth part of this post i am so sorry. but yeah in general i think grell appreciates a good challenge acting-wise and i think she also generally enjoys playing women who are not right in the noggin in similar ways to her but just different enough that it’s still fun to play them ya feel

The Bi Andrew controversy and my opinion on some people’s reactions

-Okay so ik this is a dead topic but it’s been on my mind since this all went down and i feel like i have the words to describe my feelings on it. But first i want to preface that im not trying to start a fight with this i just have some thoughts i really want to get off my chest.-

I made a post when the whole thing was going down and honestly I really didn’t get what I ment across. It was a mess of angry ranting that people couldn’t understand without me explaining in the comments. Sorry for that btw.

When I’m being honest the whole reaction to Nora revealing that in most drafts Andrew was bisexual made me kinda sick to my stomach as a gay man. It was just legions of people celebrating the fact that “thank god he wasn’t actually gay” or “now I don’t feel bad for wanting to fuck him as a woman cause he was bi the whole time!!”. And idk sometimes about that reaction just really bothered me (I wonder why)

I would have no problem with bi Andrew if he was canon. (I’d love him just as much as I love canon Andrew) it just doesn’t make sense to me that so many people were so happy when Nora told about his different orientation in the drafts. I dead ass saw people claiming Andrew was now bi in canon because of this. There was a brief uptake in andrewxrenee shipping (idc what u ship I’m using this as a point) so many people just acting like he was not gay in the text because it was different in the drafts.

A characters sexuality is an important aspect of them. Like let’s take Neil for example, he is demisexual/demiromantic. That is an important part of his character as a whole. Hell it’s pretty inseparable from him, it is a part of what makes Neil, Neil. The same can be said about Andrew. His homosexuality is a large part of what built him as a person. If he was bi then that would have been an integral part of his character. And to see people practically giddy over the fact that in the drafts he was bi and then using that to diminish his canon sexuality was icky.

-I do want to quick say that when I say that Andrew’s being gay was an important factor in shaping him as a person I’m referring to that being a thing he needed to cope with after what happened to him in his childhood not that what happened in his childhood was because he was gay. I don’t want to get the wrong idea across lol. Also if he was bi that would have also been a thing he would have needed to cope with because no matter what he is still into men.-

Ik it’s a classic talking point but let’s switch the situation around. Say Andrew was bi in canon and Nora confirmed that he was gay in most drafts. Then with that info people started celebrating the fact that “HES NOT ACTUALLY BI!!”. That is a really uncomfortable thing to read, right.

It was not ok just cause it was gay->bi and it would not be ok if it was bi->gay.

-Just another thing if Andrew was bi there would be no problem. People resorting to biphobia over this whole situation were wrong and deserve to called tf out for their shit. A character being bi in drafts is absolutely no excuse to resorting to real world bigotry. If u did that ur gross and wrong-

I can understand a small bit about how if you are bi seeing a character you love also be bi probably feels great. But hey I and other gay men see the stuff ur saying and it kinda (really) hurts.

now only live and breathe supercorp but i’ve got a couple avalance too

well there’s only 5 so all of them but my s3 alt reveal is the top

i try to but i’m only really good at it usually right after i post. the ones that come in randomly later are harder for me for some reason

i guess the reveal fic is technically the angstiest because it’s open ended but i don’t much care for angst so i’d never end one with it

oof idk maybe cat naps but that’s mostly because i wanted to write about my cats without writing about my cats
