To those who wanted to know what I thought :)) @hermy-97 @moonlight-n-moondust
Plot- it's kinda a jump into the story type, which can be good but I wish it had some more grounded scenes. I was left a little confused? But that's probably because I'm not that good at understanding mythology 😅 It does have fun world building if you like that!
Characters- I think it fleshes out the characteyr very well, older ones and the new ones (a lot better than what Wish did lol). Moana's sister doesn't come up as much I had wanted but she's super cute! I liked the new characters and Moana/Maui are pretty much the same.
Songs- ummm I really didn't like most of them? Idk they will probably grow on me but saying stuff that's happening in the plot while singing it doesn't make it a good song ya knowww. I literally laughed at some of the songs 💀 It was very obvious they needed Lin Manual Mirandas mind
TL;DR
Do I recommend??- If you really really love Moana I think it's always cool to see the characters again in a canon thing. I'd say it's a fun watch and incredibly pretty. Cool to go with friends or family but don't go in expecting it to be better than the first. Also there's an end credit scene that was mildly interesting so if you go make sure you stay for that! :3

I was having so much fun working on this animatic drawing delilah keen of dandy's world over and over that I forgot the animatic is actually about astro and dandy's horribly strained relationship. and that it's past midnight but that's besides the point

i looove the contrast between rick's vocals and the backing vocals in wearing the inside out, especially in the second chorus, like i think it's really important when talking about the song that the protagonist is giving this front-facing idea that he's fully relieved and committed to getting better while he's still hiding their turmoil and sheer anger at what happened to him. which could mean nothing about the mental state of richard wright

actually stunned by how gay The Beatles has been all this time and I just never knew

i’m not entirely sure if it counts, but the closest thing hypmic i think has gotten to this as a concept is the base line melody that loops throughout ore ga ichiro (underneath all the keyboard noises and synth) is the main melody in faces, except in faces it’s in reverse. ichiro may not have entirely been calling out rei but rei sure answered lol
#vee queued to fill the void#the stage music does actually tho lol#the oridivis had a very specific sound and in ensemble songs it would mix with the main melody like if you removed their vocals#you would still know which oridivi is up on the rotation and that’s the power of a leitmotif lol#it’s pretty tragic i think that we don’t have like main themes for the characters to play off this lol#like theme melodies the way chuuoku has this siren melody or the tobari bros’ are in the building melody lmao#it’s still crazy to me that the tobari bros are like the only ones who have one LOL#ohhh and now that i’m thinking of it it’s still not quite the same#but if you listen to say dh’s 2nd drb track (this applies to the tracks starting with the 2nd drb)#when rosasa are clearing the air between them the beat on their insert rap is the same beat#it just grows with each turn bc i assume the lore is that their hearts are connecting#and what’s neat about that is i’m pretty sure the only rap rei does in that track has an entirely different beat from theirs#rei’s not quite on their page yet and it’s symbolised thru the music *clenches fist* it is disgustingly good lmao

what have been your favorite songs off of clancy so far??? i’ve been so amazed by that album and i wanna hear your thoughts!!
AAAA OKAY. I'm just gonna copy here my ranking from last night after the 1st album listen. Mind you, before yesterday I made a point not to listen to any of the re-release singles and avoided ALL video spoilers, so I went in completely blind .
^ i forgot about Navigating and i put it on the same tier as Midwest
(okay i rambled and this is all jumbled together so - more thoughts under)
I still need to listen to it a few more times today so I can properly rank them but yeah. Routine / Oldies are my top ones for sure, with Backslide / At the Risk / Snap Back falling riiight under. Those three kinda broke me ngl.
Lavish for sure will go up in the ranking because I love it so so much it's SO fun haha.
The Craving I prefer Jenna's version over the single - just different feels. The single version I'd place it with Next Semester.
But yeah, I was sobbing pathetically on Oldies Station, and again on At The Risk lmao. BACKSLIDE!!! BROKE MY HEART!!! NOT EVEN GONNA TALK ABOUT THE VIDEO OTHERWISE!!! WOOOOOOO

Me and my friend were talking about it, and we both agree that Clancy feels like an amalgamation of every previous album. There is something so heavy and personal about it, very reminiscent of Self Titled, that we haven't seen in a while (since Blurryface I'd say). Not that Trench wasn't personal, but it feels incredibly lore-heavy (aside from Smithereens and The Legend <- i can't listen to it now because yeah. Same thing for me).
Obviously you got Neon Gravestones and Redecorate on SAI (WHICH I LOVE, will take no slander), but yeah.
*Oh and Leave the City - same vibes as Paladin sort of.
Clancy is special. It feels much more intimate. Much more emotionally charged. Trench felt like an album for the fans; SAI is the fun experimental let's go team one. But Clancy 1000% feels like this is for him. Like a letter to past and future versions of Tyler - does this make sense?
Sorry I think I rambled a bit much lol - I might do a proper review or whatever once I gave the album a few more spins but yeah! Right off the bat I am in love with it, if feeling a little too called out by some songs 🥲✌️

I never was into Monster High and the younger-demographic reboot appeals to me even less tbh, but honestly I have half a mind to seek it out in the faint, vain hope that it might encourage Mattel to reboot Ever After High. But on the other hand Ever After High's original design was so charming because of the elements which are now becoming charmingly dated to the early 2010s, so I just know an official redesign would just always be disappointing even though fan redesigns are always super cool. And the whole fairy-tale fad is over, I guess -- I bet there are still little kids who love it like I did, but the market is saturated (and apparently Descendants is still active, and I know they're still publishing their Disney fanfiction AU books...) -- so there's little hope on that front. But I'm bringing Ever After High back into my life myself anyways. Wayback Machine saves of the old website and my books will suffice <3

i remember the first time ever i listened to SO i was like pfft rap? get out. (i was cringe) and then when i gave it a listen again a few months later i was a changed person... so i binge listened to their entire discography immediately and was genuinely shocked because how could ALL of their songs be bangers, like i couldn't believe it was possible it was surreal........ i wish i could turn back time (lol) to experience that pure shock again

to this day i do not understand why monster was more popular than lucky one when exo released them both that one year. like lucky one sounds more unique AND the mv has a dope experimental scifi lab concept goin on. is it just the edginess of monster that made it more popular??? i have a new theory for aru sekai fans & by new i mean someone else might have caught on already but i havent seen it said SO. the rute furutewoa melody is in kyuuyaku, touhikou, & now kannagi (maybe elsewhere bc i havent been looking for this motif before i only realized it today really & i havent had time to go thru all the songs again yet) & we have kyuu (past), something in touhikou im too tired to remember currently but i remember calling something similar a while ago when someone asked if there was a timeline to this, and now kannagi that uses the older language so im willing to bet this motif is a way of saying the events in the song happened in the "past". whether thats actually Long Ago or just to say its not the current situation or just happened before the songs without it i cant say for sure but i think it makes sense given what we have now.
just like we have the nami no ne no motif that signals which characters still have their "self" if its in the song or lost it if its not.
i have to do some more digging of course but with what i know right now this makes the most sense to me
