You three are quite chill and soft.

Both Jotaro and Kakyoin are generally pretty mellow.

If you’re an introvert, the three of you often spend time doing your own thing at home. More often than not, Jotaro is doing research, reading, or napping while Kakyoin is playing video games or creating art. All three of you are almost always in the same room.

If you’re extroverted, they wouldn’t mind going out with you to social events, as long as they aren’t too long or frequent. You guys mostly settle for going out to quiet places like the park, or spending quality time at home regardless of your intro/extroversion.

The three of you often play video games together. Kakyoin almost always wins unless Joot is feeling a bit more competitive, which ends in a tie most of the time.

Taking naps together is a common and almost mandatory occurrence for you three. Because of how tired Jotaro usually is he often falls asleep first while you and Kakyoin giggle about how cute he looks. If Kak falls asleep first (which is quite rare since he’s almost always preoccupied) you and Joot just snuggle in silence, occasionally chatting softly about whatever comes to mind. If you fall asleep first, your two bois will engage in idle conversation while caressing your hair or fingers.

Joot doesn’t cook often. As he grew up, Holly was the one who cooked, and while he would occasionally help as a child, she didn’t want him near the stove too often out of fear of him burning himself. As a result he doesn’t have much experience but can make pretty nice dishes when following instructions carefully. On the other hand, Kakyoin is good at cooking (the guy somehow managed to make breakfast in the desert so there’s no way he can’t cook) and enjoys trying out new recipes. If you cook, the two will help as best as they can, but it’s usually Kak who volunteers to assist you.

Personality dynamic wise, your sweethearts are different in some ways yet similar in others.

We all know that Joot is the silent stoic kind. He doesn’t speak much and, while he thinks he’s easy to read, he’s quite far from it. However, if you pay attention there are definitely signs of his love. He shows affection through actions and will help you even when you don’t ask for it. He will blush slightly and grumble dismissively when you thank him.

Kakyoin is less reserved than Joot. He’s a tease and enjoys making his two lovers blush redder than cherries. He likes impressing you with his intelligence, but is very good at doing so in a humble way. He also enjoys flirtatious banter and if you just so happen to engage with him, the two of you will go at it for minutes while Joot blushes.

Regardless of their differences though, they are both quiet and somewhat aloof, but still caring in their own ways. If you have a bad day, Jotaro will prepare your favorite beverage and give you a nice shoulder massage (and he’s quite good at it) while Kak will gladly listen to you vent if you need to. He’ll also lend you a shoulder to rest your head upon.

Speaking of, nobody would dare upset you as long as Jotaro and Kakyoin are at your side, though if somebody has the balls to even look at you the wrong way, your boys will take care of them in a heartbeat. We know how strong Jotaro is, and Kakyoin’s sharp tongue is nothing to be messed with.

You three often visit eachother’s families, particularly Holly. She absolutely adores you and Kakyoin and is so happy that her son found such wonderful partners and often invites you guys over for dinner and over holidays. Kakyoin’s parents are also delighted that their son has people he is close to now, and there’s no doubt that your family would be fond of your partners too.

It’s pretty obvious that you guys are strong as all hell in battle. If you have a stand, the combination of (Stand Name), Star Platinum, and Hierophant Green makes for an impressive team. If you aren’t a stand user, you use your intellect as a weapon.

The three of you together are an unstoppable force in every sense of the phrase.

After Part 3, Jotaro is often away from home, which means that you and Kakyoin are often back home together. I headcanon that Kakyoin would also work for the Speedwagon Foundation by researching Stands, but is not required to travel as much, meaning that he spends a lot more time with you.

It’s always fun bonding with Kakyoin during these times and you often come up with dumb but hilarious inside jokes that you share with Joot whenever you three get together again.

You plan little parties for when Jotaro gets back from overseas.

The two of you often video chat with Jotaro while he’s abroad. Some of the most frequent discussion topics are work related (primarily stands) and your day to day lives.

A lot of the time, Jotaro will come home to you and Kakyoin cuddling fast asleep in bed, and after a quick shower he joins you. He can’t help but smile at the peaceful expressions on your faces.

The three of you often wake up tangled up in the sheets the next morning. A lot of the time you are on your stomach lying on Jotaro’s torso while Kakyoin is huddled up into his side. Jotaro has his arms wrapped around both of you.

Unlike Jotaro’s canon relationship, this one is more likely to work out because Kakyoin is a stand user as well. The chances are much higher if you are one too. :)

I saw this headcanon somewhere else but I also 100% agree that it would also work because Kakyoin would raise all hell if Joot abandoned you.

This year I spontaneously watched Appmon nearly 2 times, and I have thoughts about it. And what better way to acknowledge it than on its 5th Anniversary. (Or 4th anniversary of Our Singularity). I'm planning on at least covering my thoughts on the main 5 kids this month, in an order based 100% on who I want to talk about first.

It's Astra.

I think Astra is generally the least liked Appmon character, or perhaps more accurately, is the character I see the most disdain for. And, honestly, I can understand where it comes from. But he’s my favorite Appmon character actually. In a cast with a non-conventional protagonist, a blackbelt idol, and a hacker, Astra’s “Apptube” is well, just kind of there. Like a more modern version of Eri’s idol career. His personality is clearly meant to be representative of the target audience, the group whose number one career aspiration is Youtuber. So, he’s kind of cringy and kind of annoying, especially to an adult audience. I get it. But Astra’s a character I found to have a lot of stuff going on.

I admittedly tend to have a soft spot for the babies of any team, especially if they are assertive enough to keep up with their seniors. And Astra does fit the bill. He’s generally seen to be on equal footing with the others, and his rather aggressive way of talking to the other doesn’t exactly make you think baby of the team. He doesn’t use honorifics, and in general Astra’s referred to in the same terms as Haru and Rei. (As near as I can tell, anyway with my nonexistent Japanese skills, correct me if I’m wrong). The fact he’s in elementary school is a bit more incidental than anything.

We learn the most about Astra’s family and upbringing compared to the other characters, and it is central to his arc. We get a lot of information straightforwardly in the show. He had a lot of pressure on him as the heir to the school, and felt pressured to act the part of the perfect heir. Throughout the show we see him struggle with the pressure of being the heir. As a child he was extremely dedicated to following his father's footsteps. He didn’t seem to see himself as anything other than the heir to his father's school. He seemed set apart from other children, seemingly due to the closed-off way he acted. This dedication to being a good heir was to the detriment of his happiness. Until Musimon came into his life allowing him to loosen up and seek his own happiness. Classic stuff. But Astra is a little more at war with himself than may be obvious by his “annoying” attitude.

While we first learn about Astra suppressing his own eccentricities, in his debut episodes, it’s not until later that we learn about his mother, and learn that this side of his personality didn’t come out of nowhere. His mother is very similar to him, which gives us the question of why he ever became so disciplined in the first place if his behavior isn't out of place in his family, and his mother is a strong advocate for him doing his own thing. In fact, Astra seemed initially a bit embarrassed by his mother when he introduced her to the other Appdrivers. Of course this is almost certainly because his mother calling his friend “pretty” and gushing about her husband and how they met is embarrassing, and even if Astra himself acts just as obnoxious. But even so, he's clearly less respectful towards her. The reasons behind why Astra calls his mother by her first name are unclear, though it doesn't seem to stem from a lack of love for his mother.

But regardless, it helps build the idea that more likely, he was trying to win the approval of people outside his immediate family. After all, as shown in episode 7, it was the assumption that Astra would inherit the school by others that prompted Astra’s response to his father. Even if Astra’s father does have a desire for Astra to inherit his position, he also understands that it's first and foremost Astra’s life to live. Astra however does have a lot of respect for his father and seems to value his opinion immensely, he recognizes that not inheriting the school would be disappointing to his father and does not want to disappoint him. So while I think there is something to be said for Astra’s behavior relating to a desire to impress his father, I don’t personally think it's the origin in its entirety.

Astra over the course of the series is very independent and marches to his own beat, Astra, like Eri, had made the first step to change prior to his introduction, but that doesn’t mean he was already completely different from the boy who acted stiff to prove himself to others. Astra’s second episode deals with him succumbing to peer pressure in his new activity, and his final episode is about not succumbing to his uncle's expectations, the old expectations that kept him down for so long. (But it's also a bit about fulfilling Hinarin’s expectations, expectations he agreed to).

Despite Apptubing being the career choice where Astra does as he pleases, his final episode isn’t about him Apptubing because he wants to but as a way to help someone else. Particularly his cousin. While it isn’t explicitly clear if Astra knows it’s his cousin the fact of the matter is that he’s helping his family through his Apptubing, even if it is something he picked up for himself. (A reasoning perhaps parallels Eri’s reasons for being an idol, wanting to bring smiles to her mom, despite it clearly being something she herself enjoys). His care for his family is exactly the reason he continues to train to be the heir, but that doesn’t mean even if he doesn’t uphold expectations that he can’t be a help to his family.

Astra’s arc deals with expectations vs. a desire to help. Astra in large part is assertive about not having to help other people out and doing his own thing, recognizing he doesn’t have to do anything he doesn’t want to. But his actions consistently betray his care for others. I think this is most evident in the way Astra acted as if he wasn’t going to help Eri out with her elections, but did so anyway, even if he antagonized her a bit in the process, but ended up being the proudest of her accomplishments. Not to mention the way he continues to train as the heir, albeit on his own terms. Over the course of the series, he becomes more open with his care towards others, culminating in the jailbreak episode, but he’s always been shown to care. He’s finding that balance between living his own life and helping others.

It’s clear that Astra doesn’t hate being heir at least. He’s extremely determined to do both. And personally, I think it’s very possible that he sees Apptubing as a hobby. He after all proposed the half-hour limit himself. Even at the beginning with his most abrasive. He dutifully kept it to a relatively small impact on his life. For all that it’s brought up as an important element in his life, and he is shown breaking his own rule on occasion without consequence. One of the longest times we see him Apptubing is when he’s helping Eri out. Of course on the flip side of that, we have episode 8 where he breaks the rule because his videos aren't doing as well as he likes, but that's definitely tying back to his desire for people's approval. While he is for lack of a better word, tempted into giving up training to be an iemoto to dedicate himself to Apptubing, it isn’t something he seems to seriously consider at all.

The biggest thing Musimon gave him was not the courage to be an Apptuber, but the courage to be himself. Indulging in Apptubing for fun is merely a small part of that. Astra is still the good heir, but he is no longer letting that define his entire life, sometimes forgoing certain parts of training. But that doesn’t mean that tea ceremony is a bad part of his life. There’s also a certain balance in his personality between the abrasive “annoying” boy at the start of the series and the passive boy prior to the show's beginning. I don’t feel that the polite Astra is completely disingenuous. Astra is capable of acting calm and grounded, and this side of himself becomes more apparent as the series goes on, particularly with Eri who, in contrast to him, throws herself into her idol career with more and more genuine passion. When he supports Eri with his videos but asks her to take a break, which tracks with what we know about his fathers working habits. It’s his final focus episode where he is shown to be acting, more in someone else's interest, and even shown to be a bit embarrassed by it. In contrast to an Astra who even in episode 19, was not taking much seriously. I think it’s only fair to say Astra did genuinely inherit some of his father's more grounded and dutiful nature.

And while earlier I did say Astra’s age feels incidental, I don’t think that is to say it has no bearing on his role in the story. It's part of the reason Eri is so dismissive of him at first, Sure, the other’s treat him as equal, and are in no way particularly protective of him, nor do they expect him to be any less capable than him. But this isn’t to say Astra’s relative youthfulness isn’t apparent when with the others at least in the beginning. Astra is definitely on the more immature side of things, he after all is the one who started the rivalry with Eri because his ego was bruised (not that Eri's initial dismissal of him was helping matters any). As I said earlier, Astra mellowed as the show progressed and I think it’s a fair assumption to say he’d continue to do so. Not that he’ll lose his energy, but that he’ll be able to act with more maturity and consideration for others. The most common complaint about him I’ve heard is “annoying”, which is understandable. But that’s not accidental, even in-universe (hah), others seem to find him to be a bit much at first at the beginning of the series. His “annoying” personality is him testing the waters beyond the role of dutiful heir he’s always played. He’s annoying because he’s an 11-year-old boy who does not always know how to act in ways appropriate to his situation. He’s the kid of the group. I do understand if that still makes watching irritating. Watching should be fun after all, but it’s more of a matter of opinion than an objective flaw.

Unlike Gatchmon, Offmon, and Dokamon whose personalities seem to clash a bit with their buddies, Musimon and Astra are consistently on the same page, after episode 8. This is exemplified in episode 29, where Musimon runs away for fun rather than because he wants something from Astra, and Astra is the only partner who seems to have not been worried, recognizing what Musimon was doing. Of course, their fight in episode 8 was about Astra not being true to himself, thus naturally conflicting with the one who is on the same page as his true self. Musimon shares Astra’s high energy but caring nature. I’m not an expert on the Japanese language by any means, but there is something notable about the fact Musimon uses “Boku” to Astra’s usual “Ore”. Musimon and Astra are without a doubt very similar, the only difference in their demeanors being Musimon is perhaps a bit less confrontational. If Musimon being Astra’s buddy says anything about Astra, it’s probably that Astra is by his nature not quite as aggressive as he seems. Which for someone who clearly used to takes people's opinions of him to heart, seems about right.

Astra’s arc is all about expectations, expectations as an Apptuber, and as the heir. Astra living up to, or disregarding expectations based on what he believes is best. Living the life he wants to live.

Some final observations from me in regards to Astra, is that he’s paired with Fakemon for God Grade. While it’s probably in part just how things worked out logistically, it also makes a bit of sense as a foil. Fakemon is constantly being disingenuous, while a huge part of Astra’s arc is being true to himself, while also fulfilling other people's expectations of him. Also of note, Entermon is described as a Digimon who exists wherever you can find culture something that is particularly relevant to Astra.

While being biracial is not directly important to the story, it’s not incidental and clearly is thematically related to him being trapped between the traditional and the modern Japan. While in story Astra’s story is simply about outside expectations of inheritance, It’s possible to read Astra prior to the series as trying to overcompensate for his foreign mother in the eyes of the people at his father’s school. This is something I find notable considering that Appmon’s assistant producer, Akari Yanagawa, went on to become the producer of 2019’s Star Twinkle Precure, a season of Precure notable for the franchise's 2nd biracial cure, whose personal arc more obviously alluded to racism than Astra's, though still very indirectly.

You were on your bed with your laptop on a blanket in front of you as you listen to your teacher drone on and on and on.

Then you shrieked when your bedroom door was thrown open and three fairly big guys came rushing in.

Naturally you screamed in fear.

Koutaro was the one carrying you as the Konoha turned off your laptop and Akaashi stood there. He was so not with this.

The thing is, Koutaro didn't tell you on purpose so your reaction would be genuine enough to fool your class.

He got you so upset that Akaashi, Konoha, Anohori, Komi, Onaga, Sarukui, and even Washio were chastising him for it.

They weren't having his dumb shit today, no sir.

He made it up to you though, so did the rest of the team.

Akaashi had just walked into your room while you were sitting at your desk.

He had pushed your chair out of the way and simple turned everything off. Saving any documents you may or may not have had open first of course.

Then he took your hand and he took you to a nice and quiet Cafe where you guys spent the rest of the day.

Your teacher addresses you and scolds you for having Satoir there.

"Why, it's not like I'm distracting you. You're not doing anything anyways. Let's leave, my Paradise."

After that Satori had a long argument with your teacher, your teacher very clearly losing. More than half your class was losing it at this point.

"Look, you abarrent brat,'" thats when you got mad.

"Excuse me? What did you just call him??!!" You slammed your laptop shut after that.

Invader zim Sitcom au (Part 2)

Okay so this is gonna go over all the other famlies. For characters who’s last names I don’t know I just gave them random last names.

The membranes: AKA The next door neighbors who get a spinoff later or something 

Professor Membrane: Doesn’t change much besides from being actually supportive this time. He’s like how he was in ETF. He’s still a successful scientist, but the “Smartest man in the world” thing is only just a title now. He let’s Gaz and Dib help him during some of his experiments as a fun, family bonding activity. (This does not mean they’re all safe, they can still be pretty chaotic, such as that one time where the house got overrun by gerbils). He still has robotic limbs from the shark incident, the incident actually left him deathly afraid of sharks (Yaaaaayyy PTSD)

Dib Membrane: Still a feral little paranormal investigator, he Zim go on crazy paranormal-hunting adventures together (YAAAYY Zadf), which Gaz joins sometimes. Sometimes it just ends up like a scooby-doo mystery where it turns out nothing supernatural was actually going on, sometimes they actually find some sort of paranormal thing. A lot of they’re hangouts are paranormal investigations. Dib’s still feral but he’s still calmer and more rational than Zim, while ZIm is much more rash and impulsive. Though Dib’s still more of a logical thinker, while Zim is a much more outside-the-box thinker, so they work well together. Sometimes they’ll butt heads and their competitiveness flares up again, but it’s more of a friendly, chaotic rivalry.

Gazlene “Gaz” Membrane: Gaz is a lot like how she was in the comics, still a jerk, but she still cares about her brother. Her care commonly shows in anger born of worry, she’s pretty much 80% of his impulse control.

Clembrane and Foodio 3000: Clembrane was a clone made by membrane so that membrane could get more stuff done, but the cloning didn’t go so well, which is why Clembrane is the way he is. Clembrane just ends up doing housework, and has an odd fixation on pudding. (Professor doesn’t know why, he thinks it might be because that was one of the first thing they taught him to cook that came out edible). Foodio’s pretty much the same, but was instead created as a robo-butler to clean the house and do chores when membrane was to busy.

Skoodge Brians: Zim’s best friend besides Dib, he’s gullible, but he’s got a good heart and he means well. He’s also a strong boy, physically and emotionally. He, Zim, Dib, and Gaz make up a ragtag bunch of misfits and stand up for eachother togther, and go on their own misadventures. Skoodge takes the bullying he receives in stride because he tells himself (Or at least tries to) that they’re just empty insults. He’s usually the shoulder to cry on for the group. He’s the type of friend to just let himself into the house if he’s close enough with whoever lives there (I.e, The Membrane sibs and Zim).

Tak Vessel:  (I wanted her surname to be a reference to her ship in the show. Vessel is an actual surname, albeit rare, and is a synonym for ship). Tak is a transfer student from the UK (Hence her accent) causing occasional culture shock for her (”IT’S NOT CALELD SOCCER! IT’S CALLED FUTBOL!!!” “Tak please it’s just a game). She’s kind of a bully who usually targets Zim, but mostly because he keeps ticking her off. She does have her soft spots for the Membrane siblings and her little sister Mimi. She holds some begrudging respect for Skoodge for putting up with everyone’s BS, her included, she can’t even imagine having that kind of patience. She mellows down if you get on her good side and can be a good friend when she wants to, She’s not much of a bully as she is just able to go from 0 to 100 real easily. 

Minerva “Mimi” Vessel: Tak’s “creepy” little sister around Gir’s age. Tak is really close to her,  which comes as a surprise to most people since Tak is seen as the kind of person who’d bully their little sibling. Mimi is a creepy little Satan child, at least at surface level. She checks all the boxes on the creepy little kid list. She doesn’t talk, she has big ole eyes that stares into your soul, she usually plays or sits alone, and is into some dark things, like she’s the kid who’d read the original tale after watching a disney movie, and would prefer the original. But deep down she’s just shy. She opens up to Gir later in the series, and usually lets him talk for her (Either by whispering in his ear and having him repeat what she just said, or communicating in sign language and having him translate, Gir’s translations are the same quality as google translate, not entirely accurate but you can get what she’s trying to say if you connect the dots). Mimi only speaks when she deems it necessary, since she has a stutter and a bit of a lisp when she speaks, which she’s really insecure about.

Tennessee “Tenn” Michaels: (I know literally nothing about Tenn please forgive me) A lively girl who’s kind of a ditz, but always tries her best and is quick to know when she’s made a mistake. She’s a friend of Skoodge’s so she knows the main squad just by proximity. She’s much more of a girly girl then Tak and Gaz, but they humor her because it makes her happy. Her parents run a daycare which she helps with sometimes, although “Help” usually means “Be offered as a sacrifice to a bunch of insane toddlers” in her eyes (Kinda like being sent tons of defective sir units in the show, except she’s only stuck with them until they’re parents pick them up). Sometimes she joins the main squad with they’re paranormal investigations or general shenanigans, but usually she can’t because she’s busy helping her parents at the daycare. She’s pretty much the only main character who’s not unpopular and has more then 4 or 5 friends.

Floog Gregor: Floog is a shy boy who’s also friends with Skoodge. He’s timid but he tries to be a good leader, and he’s even vice president of the student council at Skool. He looks up to his Dad, Theen, who’s a commander serving in the navy seals. Floog doesn’t get to see his dad very often, at least not in person (They do things like phone calls and video chat, but it’s not the same) Floog knows that his dad’s very busy, and that he has to sacrifice family time for his job. But since Theen’s a navy seal (I’ll keep it vague where Theen is serving specifically because I don’t want to offend anyone) Floog feels selfish for wanting his dad to come home, because of this, Floog has a tendacy to put others before himself. Like Tenn, Floog sometimes joins the main gang in their misadventures, but he’s usually too scared. When he does join them, he’s the most hesitant to do anything, and pretty much takes orders from the others. He’s pretty much the Shaggy of the group.

Minimoose: The Invaedirs pet cat. (I made him a cat because cats go “Nyah!” like Minimoose) He’s a chubby lil good boi who waddles and causes trouble and cutes his way out of it. Zim found him in a dumpster and named him “Minimoose” because according to Zim, he looks like a miniature moose. Red and purple thought the name was stupid, Gir liked it, Miyuki thought it was hillarious, Spork didn’t really care, so Minimoose got his name via majority vote. Zim’s the closest with him, and Zim even talks to Minimoose sometimes. (”MINIMOOSE! Red pushed me again, how can I get him to stop pushing me?! “Nyah” “Good Idea Minimoose! Putting Red down means I WOULD get pushed less!” “Nyah” “Yes Minimoose, I love you too.”)

Buck will be the first one to tell you that he isn’t the greatest person with pop culture – and that extends to technology. He’s not even embarrassed about it; it just never piqued his interest, and that’s about it for explanations. So, no, he doesn’t know that the Jonas Brothers are back together – in fact, he only has a vague recollection of who they are –, and the only reason he keeps getting new iPhones is because they keep calling him to offer a trade (and everyone knows shiny new things are always fun, okay?).

Chimney, on the other hand, is a pop culture pro. 

“There’s no such thing as too old for apps, Buck,” he says, waving his phone around as if to prove a point, “because if I still have a phone in my hands, then I can still enjoy the damn apps that go in them, right?”

Buck nods, unsure of what else to say. He hates feeling unsure, more so if the subject is as dumb as popular-things-he-doesn’t-know-and-or-care-about.

“What I’m tryna show you,” Chim continues, as if Buck isn’t about two seconds from tuning out of this conversation entirely, “is a funny series of videos on Tik Tok. I promise you’re gonna laugh at ‘em.”

“What’s… Tik-Tok…?” Buck asks instead.

Chim sighs, but then laughs a little. “Ok, Buck, it doesn’t matter, come watch the videos!”

It starts with a soft, mellow song, and on screen he can see some pictures, all accompanied with text explaining them, that'sthats my best friend, we been best friends for 3 years now, he doesn'tdoesnt know i like him, and then it cuts to a cute moment of a blonde teen leaning in and placing a tentative kiss on said best friend’s lips. They laugh and then hug, and then the video ends. After that one come a few more in succession; some go horribly wrong, and some are funny. Most of them work out as planned, though.

Then Bobby calls Chimney from downstairs, and Chim pockets his phone to leave.

“That’s the ‘kiss your best friend challenge’, Buckaroo.” He says with a grin, all teeth. “Thought you’d enjoy it.” He winks at Buck, and then goes, yelling coming! and leaving behind a very confused and only somewhat amused Buck.

That’s how it starts.

So, no, Buck doesn’t really know the first thing about apps in general, what’s trending and what’s not, but he does know how to work the App Store. Knows how to find apps. Knows how to download Tik Tok.

It’s innocent enough at first. The videos are funny, for the most part, and it’s a mindless distraction, even if only slightly better than the games he’s used to, and only better because of the amount of variety he gets.

He can’t help but come back to the stupid videos (and why even call them challenges anyway? What’s challenging about them?) about kissing your best friend.

They’re mostly adorable, but some are heartbreaking. He’s soft, okay? No shame in his game. He’s a soft guy, who’s (mostly) in touch with his feelings. Some of the rejection ones are upsetting; God knows Buck has faced a couple of rejections in his prime, and they hurt.

He keeps watching them anyway.

This week has been a rough one. Eddie picked up an extra shift, which made Buck decide to pick one up, too, because why the hell not? Christopher wasn’t even going to need anything Buck could help with, as he already had plans with Abuela. That extra shift, it turned out, was a horrible mistake.

(Not really. Buck really, really does love his job. Loves doing what he does, loves knowing he’s helping people. Sometimes it gets exhausting, though. Sometimes he’s made to face  what losing his friends, his family, Eddie would feel like, and those hurt days like a motherfucker.)

A huge house fire reached the two neighboring houses. They needed backup, the whole thing was insane. Half of the roof collapsed not even two inches from where Eddie was standing, twin girls in his arms, Buck watching from the ladder where he was ready to take the girls. It doesn’t matter how many times they go near death; every single time it happens in slow-motion. Everyone came out alive, but the bitter taste followed Buck’s mouth into the truck, where he places a hand on Eddie’s shoulder, and leaves it there until they reach the station.

“Plans for the evening?” He asks softly. They feel extra raw tonight.

“Not really.” Eddie replies, and the silence stretches. Buck thinks that’s all Eddie’s saying, until he clears his throat, continues. “Christopher’s staying with Abuela, and then Carla’s picking him up and taking him to school in the morning.” Another pause. “I’m just tired, Buck. I need to crash.”

Buck nods. “Yeah. Yeah, I know. I just. I won’t be able to,” he says, complete honesty without even thinking, and that’s probably his favorite thing about his friendship with Eddie. No filter, just truth. Mostly.

Eddie nods, but it’s more of a jerky motion. Buck doesn’t inquire further.

“You wanna grab a couple pizzas and some beer? We can pretend to watch a movie until we collapse.”

The suggestion sounds heavenly. Buck grins, nods, already picking up his phone.

“Domino’s fine? The usual?”

Eddie nods. “Your place or mine?”

In the end they only get the pizzas because Buck has more than enough beers for the two of them at his place. 

They have three mostly empty pizza boxes on the coffee table, beer in hand, a half a dozen other bottles around the boxes, a movie they’re pretending to watch – but even as it plays on screen, Buck can’t pretend to know what’s going on. He’s sitting on the far end of the couch, with Eddie right beside him, head on his shoulder.

Buck’s a naturally tactile person. Craves physical touches, and the warmth of another person’s skin. Eddie wasn’t always like that; it took him some time to open up, and Buck doesn’t know if this is for him only, or if he’s as open with any of his other friends, but that doesn’t matter to Buck.

Buck moves his arm behind Eddie, so that they can both be more comfortable, and Eddie looks up a little startled, soft around the edges and glassy-eyed, which means he was probably on his way to falling asleep when Buck moved. He smiles at Buck, a small smile that’s open and honest and free. And Buck… Wow. Buck realizes, then and there, that he wants to kiss Eddie. 

It’s only a second, and then Eddie’s looking back at the screen, burrowing just the tiniest bit more into the space Buck has made for him, taking a sip of his beer, sighing very softly.

And, oh. Oh. Buck understands now. Buck knows, deeply and suddenly, why they’re called challenges, and what the challenging part is about the whole kiss your best friend thing.

It’s a bet he’s not sure if he’s willing to take.

Buck can’t stop thinking about it.

He doesn’t remember when he knew he was in love with Abby. That’s always where their relationship was going to go, there wasn’t another option. They weren’t ever in it for anything other than being together. Sure, Buck tried, for the first time, to be a better man, and that was what moved them along, but Buck always knew how they were supposed to end up. Together. Which is why he doesn’t know when he realized he was in love with Abby. If the goal was to get the girl, then being in love with her was an integral part of the plan. He just doesn’t fucking know, which is making everything worse.

Because he’s pretty sure he’s in love with Eddie.

Because he didn’t know, and then he did.

Because it was easy to figure out.

Eddie looked at him, open and carefree, even if for just a minute, and Buck thought yes. And that was it. Buck thought yes, Buck thought he would do anything to just keep Eddie looking like that, soft, and safe, and tranquil. In his arms. Buck thought all those things in a millisecond, and he knew what they meant. He knows what they mean, because he hasn’t stopped thinking about them ever since they materialized in his mind.

I’m in love with Eddie.

Buck wanted to be a better man for Abby, and he was, but Eddie makes him a better man.

He hates knowing this. He doesn’t know what to do with it, because, while he would never do anything to jeopardize what he has with Eddie (this friendship, this trust, this love – that is above the romance part of things, and involves everything else – namely, Christopher, and the feeling of belonging he gets when he’s with them), he also knows himself. He knows this isn’t going to last very long before he bursts and makes a mess of things. He needs to think, but he has, has been doing nothing but think about this.

He needs to do something.

He just hasn’t figured out what just yet.

The idea comes, funnily enough, when they’re at a call.

The universe sure loves a good dose of irony.

Some (dumb) teenager stuck in the air vent, was what the 9-1-1 operator said. There’s a really big, sour looking man yelling at a teenage girl – who’s yelling right back at him – outside when they get there, a lady watching them, clear from her face that she’s both the girl’s mom and the man’s wife and that she’s given up on whatever’s going on. He half hears as Bobby tries to placate things enough to understand what’s going. The girl outside starts sobbing, but now he’s concentrating on the girl inside, upstairs in a bedroom, stuck in the air vent.

“Hey, can you hear me?” He says loudly, and gets some noise back that he’ll take as an answer. She’s already all the way in the vent, save for one foot hanging out from where she got stuck trying to move, a knee up and one leg straight. Stupid, stupid idea. “What’s your name?” He asks, and then they start to work.

“Sage,” she answers, loud. He’s not sure if she’s yelling or if the sound’s carrying, but he keeps being loud just to be sure.

“Ok, Sage, we’re gonna get you out, don’t worry! Wanna tell me whatcha doing in there?”

“Looking for a rat,” she replies, and Eddie huffs a laugh beside him, shakes his head. “Sorry, I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be rude, I just panicked!”

“Hey, don’t worry about my feelings, Sage, we’re fine. You wanna tell me what happened for you to hop up there?”

“What’s your name?” She says, and that takes him by surprise. His eyebrows go up, and he looks at everyone around before answering.

“Uh, it’s Buck. My name’s Buck.”

“Look, Buck,” she starts, and she sounds so, so angry, but also so very sad, “Baileya’s dad hates me, ok? I haven’t seen her in a month! She’s my best friend!”

“Ok, Sage, I’m gonna need you to take a few calming breaths before we continue, ok? Do you want me to breathe with you?”

“No, no, it’s okay,” she says, and then she’s quiet, and they can all hear her breathing deeply. “Okay, sorry. Look. Baileya’s dad he, uh, he thinks I’m a bad influence. He was supposed to be somewhere, fuck if I know, but he was only supposed to come back tomorrow. I haven’t seen B in a month –” that last part sounds so sad it breaks Buck’s heart a bit, “– and I just. I missed her.” She’s silent for a little bit, and no one presses for more, but then she speaks up again. “We saw his car outta the window and I just panicked. This air vent hasn’t had a pane for the longest time and I’m a fucking gymnast, so I thought I could just jump up here and hang out for a minute. I know it was stupid, but he would kick me out if he found me, and I mean that very literally.”

Buck looks at his team. They all know what this means.

Finally, Bobby says, “Well, Sage, you’re gonna be out of there in a minute, and you’re gonna get to see your best friend, and no one’s touching you under the protection of the LAFD, okay? Don’t worry.”

She sounds shaky when she says thank you.

When they get her out, she asks them to stay at the door so she can get all her things in her backpack, and Buck notices her phone was propped up against some books in a table in front of the bed. Everyone trails out and he lingers behind to protect her, but also to say, in an almost-whisper:

“Hey, Sage, why was your phone propped up like that?”

She turns tomato red in a second, flat-out. “I was, uh. I was. Um. Filming a thing.”

And of course Buck knows. He knows that angle. “A challenge?”

She looks surprised. “Yeah. For, um, for Tik-Tok.”

“Did you get to do it?”

“Yeah, Buck,” she says, and he wouldn’t ask, normally, but her voice says it all.

“Did Baileya like it?”

She smiles at him, almost as if she can’t keep it in. “Yes.”

He decides then and there that he’s not going to look them up, but he can’t stop thinking about the smile on Sage’s face when she said yes.

The whole way back to the station he keeps watching Chimney, who has noticed, but hasn’t asked what he’s looking at him for. He wonders if he was always obvious to everyone else, and only oblivious to himself. He wonders whether he’s obvious to Eddie or if Eddie is oblivious to him.

More than anything, though, he’s pretty sure he found a way to do something. He feels silly. It was staring at him this whole time. Or, well, he was staring at it, really, for quite some time, in fact.

It’s another Saturday, and he’s been psyching himself up for a week. 

Sure, he’s figured out what to do, and he doesn’t wanna risk anything. That doesn’t mean he’s not jittery about it. So much, in fact, that Eddie notices as soon as he walks through the door.

Christopher jumps up as soon as he sees him, saying a long and excited Buck! and all but flinging himself at Buck, who has just enough time to drop the bags he has on the floor carefully and pick up Christopher in the same motion.

“How’s my Superman doing?”

“Good, Bucky. How are you?”

“Ready for a fun day with my favorite boys,” he replies, easy as anything.

He drops Christopher, and Eddie gives him a quick hug before picking up the bags he brought.

“What are these?”

“Well, it’s a nice day, thought we could, you know, make a day of it? You said you didn’t have plans and I have everything for a nice picnic.” He shrugs.

“I don’t see a basket,” Eddie teases.

“It’s in the car, you jerk.”

Eddie laughs. “Hey, Christopher, what do we think about a picnic?”

“Picnic!” is all the reply he gets from a very excited Christopher. “I’m going to change,” he says, already shuffling to his bedroom, and Eddie shakes his head.

“I also got us some beer, but that’s more for later in the evening. Thought we could order a pizza after Chris goes to bed, maybe?”

Eddie looks fake-shocked. “You want a whole entire day of eating not really health stuff? Who are you and what did you do to my Buck?”

And Buck knows, okay? Buck knows he’s just joking, but it still tugs at his heart, makes him feel like those butterflies people talk about are real: his head feels light, there’s a tingling on the tips of his fingers. Instead of any of the stupid things he wants to do, he just shakes his head, smiles.

“Nah, man, just wanted a nice day with the two of you, that’s all.”

Eddie’s smile is blinding. “Sounds good to me.”

“I’ll tuck him in and you order the pizza?”

“Yup.”

“‘K. Chris, go say good night to Buck.”

Christopher moves slowly. They’ve had a fun, long day.

“Good night, Bucky. I love you.”

“Good night, Chris. I love you, too.”

Buck listens to the sounds of the two of them as he orders the pizza. He thinks about how familiar it is, how at home he feels.

How he is, maybe, about to mess the whole thing up.

He sure has his excuses in place in case things don’t go the way he wants them to – “it’s just a joke, look, I can show you the other videos. It’s a challenge for Tik Tok. I just wanted to be down with the kids, Eddie! I thought you’d be game! It’s just for show!” – but it’s not going to stop things from being awkward for a little bit until they get back to normal. 

When Eddie comes back, the pizza is there already, and Buck is nursing a beer that’s already halfway down, but has one out for Eddie, cold and fresh. Eddie collapses on the couch with a grunt.

“That boy’s getting big, por Díos, where did the time go,” he says, sitting up nicely, taking a swig of his beer.

They’re having a good time. But they’re never not having a good time. This is it, Buck realizes. He can’t imagine ever again feeling so at home in the presence of someone else. He can’t imagine loving a child so deeply; can’t imagine loving a man more for the way he loves his own son. This is it.

Eddie goes to the bathroom, and it’s Buck’s chance.

He puts the phone up against a vase Eddie has on the coffee table; knows Eddie enough to know he won’t notice, especially after two beers.

“Alright, what did I miss,” Eddie says as he walks in the living room, more conversationally than interested, and Buck knows it’s now or never.

“Hey, Eddie,” he says, slowly, which makes Eddie look at him immediately, confusion and worry written in the lines around his eyes.

���You ok, Buck?” He asks, placing his beer bottle on the coffee table in front of them, worry making him move more into Buck’s personal space.

Ok, Buck. Now or never. Do it.

“Yeah, yeah, I just. I. Look, Eddie, I just need to –” Buck cuts himself off in favor of moving entirely into Eddie’s personal space, meeting him in the middle where Eddie already was. The air between them mingles, Buck can feel the warmth they’re creating back on his lips.

“What are you doing?” Eddie whispers, sharp, and for a second Buck feels as if he has lost; this exact moment is suspended in infinity for Buck to commit it to memory, to remember his loss, forevermore. But then. Then, Eddie looks down at Buck’s lips, and licks his own. Buck needs nothing else. He goes in.

Eddie is very still when their lips touch, but Buck can absolutely not help but notice how soft they are. Eddie is all hard angles and big muscles, but his lips are so soft, how’s that even possible? And then Buck notices he isn’t moving. He isn’t even breathing, actually, holding himself taut. Buck’s thankful for his foresight of not touching Eddie anywhere besides the lips.

Buck backs away slowly, hoping that Eddie won’t look at him too close, hoping Eddie will take pity and just let him run away for the night. But Eddie is watching him intently, looking into the blue eyes that already feel wet, so obviously they look wet. But hey! Buck tried, didn’t he? 

All the apologies and speech he had ready die in his throat. He’s not going to lie to Eddie; he doesn’t want to lie to Eddie. He should know. He should know that Buck is in love with him, heart-achingly so. He needs to know. So Buck doesn’t say anything. He looks around; for a second he had forgotten the phone was even there. He starts to get up, his mind a mess. 

Eddie holds his wrist. Buck looks at where they’re touching as if it’s burning. Eddie tugs, hard, making him sit down. 

“Did you mean that?" He asks, voice only above a whisper, but still crystal clear.

“What?” Buck says, confused. 

“Buck. Did you mean to do that?” He asks again, eyes on Buck’s. 

“Yeah,” he breathes out. “Yeah, Eddie. I’ve been meaning to. For a while now.” 

Buck closes his eyes, then. Eddie's eyes are too bright, too beautiful for Buck to keep looking at. And then, Eddie’s hand is up against his neck, his jaw, against his cheek, resting there, thumb awfully close to the corner of Buck’s mouth. And then, Buck’s being kissed. For real. 

Eddie kisses exactly like he does all other things: quietly, not showing off, but assured of himself and of what he’s doing; he’s a pro and he knows it. 

Buck is about to shift into ‘two can play at this game mode’ when he remembers the phone recording. 

He pulls away slowly, softly, regrettably, but covers Eddie’s hand on his cheek with one of his hands, moves it to his mouth to kiss Eddie’s palm. Free. Able and allowed to do this. 

They smile at each other. Buck could stare at Eddie’s smile forever. 

He reaches for his phone on the coffee table and says a fuck so heartfelt Eddie moves away from him on the couch. 

“Buck?”

“It. Wasn’t. Recording.”

“What?”

Buck is, admittedly, a little late on the uptake of how bad that sounded. It takes him a while to explain the whole thing to Eddie, which of course includes showing him a few challenge videos. 

"So you had a speech ready in case I flipped out on you,” Eddie concludes. 

“Yup, correct." 

A beat, and then: "You didn’t say anything, though." 

Buck looks up at him, confused. "What do you mean?" 

"You pulled back, and you didn’t say anything. You were just going to leave." 

And, wow. Buck forgets, sometimes, just how perceptive Eddie is. He looks away for a second, but decides Eddie deserves honesty, even if it’s at the cost of baring his soul. He already did a lot of that tonight, might as well keep going. 

"I realized I wanted you to know. Our friendship is the most important thing I have, and so I knew that, whatever happened here, you needed to know that I’m in love with you. I was sure we could get over it and back into our friendship eventually, but I just needed you to know." 

Eddie nods, understanding, taking one of Buck’s large hands between both of his. 

"Thank you, Buck. Not just for your honesty, but also for taking a chance on us." 

They kiss. 

A lot.

Eddie, bless him, not only is a good sport and has fun with the whole thing, but also helps Buck find pictures of the two of them.

"Hey, Chim! Come up here!” Buck yells as soon as he sees Chimney coming in through the station gates. 

He’s happy. He feels like he might burst with happiness. 

The past week has been everything he dreamed of, and more. Christopher was so happy he cried, which made Buck cry, which made Eddie sniff, which the two other boys in the room knew meant Eddie was trying not to cry. Buck was finally happy. 

Sure it had only been a week, but he was ready to share that with the world. And he was going to start with Chimney. 

“What’s up, Buckaroo? You look awfully chirpy for this early in the morning.” He then noticed: “Oh, hey Eddie. You’re up early." 

"Someone had to contain Mr. Buckley over here. He’s excited." 

”…Okay. Buck? Anytime now.“ 

"I just gotta show you this video on Tik Tok." 

"Wait, what? You got Tik Tok? Look at you, Buck!" 

Buck can’t help the blush. "Yeah, yeah, whatever.” He places his phone in Chimney’s hands. “Watch." 

Chim presses play, and his mouth does some weird things, but he looks positively pleased. 

"I knew it!” He yells when he’s done, excitement he can’t contain. 

They hug, and Chim promises not to tell anyone until they do, offering them well wishes and relationship help, which they both wrinkle their noses at, but say thank you all the same. 

Eddie moves into the kitchen, and Chimney takes the opportunity to say, so that only Buck can hear: “I knew you’d enjoy the challenge, Buck." 

Buck knows he’s a sap, but he can’t help the smile. "Yeah, Chim. I’ll owe you one forever." 

Chimney shakes his head at him, his smile so fond even Buck can see. 

"Nah, Buckaroo. Just be happy. That’s all I want."

Summary: New girl in a new school means new friends.

A/N - here’s an imagine no one asked for lmao, hope ya’ll enjoy despite it being REAL cliche I bet :) 

It was never one of life’s simplest moments, never one that took a few hours of just one, short day to adjust by. It was starting high school as a new student, in a new environment, feeling like a new identity that was never an easy obstacle to overcome. It wasn’t so bad, so long as you hadn’t done anything to evoke any sort of attention, just remain mellow enough for anyone not to care, then all would be fine accordingly.

Homeroom had already begun just as you’d again, had your final meet and greet with Principal Morita, alongside your overly-excited yet very professional mother, whom on the other hand was the reason for your abrupt new beginning… In simple terms, her new job position, required her which meant you as well to move, which resulted in a new home: and you weren’t at all mad: upset inevitably over the idea that there’d be some distance between yourself and your “original” friends. Although, your mother worked incredibly hard and strived for the best… This is what made her happy, and there was nothing more that you could have asked for, nor complained about. 

Hearing about moving to New York, was indeed a mouthful… You weren’t really a huge fan of the big cities, although you’d never actually experienced it either. Nonetheless, here you were.

“So I’m sure, Y/N’s familiarised herself with most of the campus expectations and the curriculum, with our helpful study guide. It can be tough adjusting of course, but you’ll have your study buddy to guide you, and if there’s any other further pressing issues, you know exactly where to find me!”

Smile and nod, the expected, respectful gesture was all you could muster up. At this point, you were sitting at the edge of your seat, anticipating for the defeaning sound of the school bell that would ultimately commence the day. The thing you were most curious about what your fellow peers, and who exactly they’d be.

“Anyway, Ms Y/L/N, before I escort Y/N to her first class of the day, I’ll give you a moment with your daughter. I’m expecting big things, considering her school record is quite exemplary.”

“Thank you again, Principal Morita, I really appreciate all the help of the staff-”

Leaving his office expectedly, you stood by your mother, as she fiddled with your clothes, eager to fix any flaws before departing for the day.

“Now, sweetheart, I want you to be just how you were in school before. I want you to be you! This school is quite the prestigious one, but I trust you-”

Taking in a deep sigh, finally adjusting her kind gaze unto you, her thumb gently stroking your cheek, giving you the final reassurance you’d much needed, as the much anticipated bell rang in the near distance.

“I can’t thank you enough… You’ve been so-so understanding, sweetheart. You know how much I love you, right?”

“Yes, yes Mum, I do! And, I love you too.” You couldn’t help but let to chuckle: your Mum was the fun type, although seeing her this emotionally raw was always rare, yet comforting.

“Now let’s not keep him waiting, baby!”

“So I see you have Science early this morning! A challenge, although I’m certain you’ll settle perfectly in. Your study partner, Mr Peter Parker will help you fit right in no doubt.”

Taking final turn, as you’d come to stand behind the very door of your first day, the name, Peter Parker, echoed through your mind… Must be quite the student to earn the mighty responsibility of baby-sitting you.

“Thank you again, Principal Morita, my mother and I really appreciate all that you and the staff have done.”

With the final nod and reassuring, familiar smile, Principal Morita entered the classroom proudly, with you shyly following behind.

“Mr Harrington, students, I’d like you all to give a warm welcome to our newest addition, Miss Y/N Y/L/N-”

And que the bright smile, you so eagerly could no longer contain, taking in all the new, foreign faces of your fellow class: some smiling in return, others simply staring blankly.

“Please, everyone, make her feel at home! And Mr Harrington, make good use of Miss Y/L/N, from what I’ve anticipated she’ll do great things… So I’ll leave you to it!-”

You hadn’t even realised that you nor your “study buddy” had been introduced, as Principal Morita had promised: although just in the knick of time, before closing the door behind for the lesson to resume, he’d luckily remembered.

“Oh and Mr Parker-”

In response, although instinctive, an arm instantly shot into the air, with you just realising it was one of the few students who’d actually exchanged a friendly smile in return to yours.

“Please take good care of Y/N, any complaints and you’ve got yourself a detention! That’ll be all.”

Just as quickly as the seconds go by, the room fell silent, and yet your eyes remained locked onto Peter, as his on you.

“Well Y/N!-”

Finally, the gaze breaking as your head immediately turned towards I’m Mr Harrington, as Principal Marito just pointed out. I’ll be both your teacher for Science and Homeroom, as I saw on the class roll! So lucky you-”

He tried, he really tried to amuse you and you showed him somewhat of an appreciation.

“Anyways, I think it would be best that you sit beside Peter, so Ned, if you don’t mind moving seats, please and then we can resume back to the lesson.”

Just as you’d turned towards Peter’s direction, you noticed both him and this Ned exchanging looks. On one hand Ned looked quite surprised, almost as though he was anticipating Peter to defend his seat, although on the other end of the spectrum, it seemed Peter was oblivious to Ned’s reaction.

“I’m really sorry-” You whispered, a sense of guilt gushing through you in the moment as Ned stood to pack his things.  

“It’s okay, uh- just a heads up, Peter’s really no help-”

“Dude-”

Yet again, you’d let out another spontaneous chuckle, a spur in the moment.

Looking down towards Peter as you settled yourself in what was essentially Ned’s seat.

“I-I’m Peter, by the way.”

“I know, but it’s nice to meet you, Peter Parker. I trust you won’t lose the new girl...Or you’ll be getting a serious call from my mum.”

You were desperate to break the ice: trying to spare a joke, laugh along with him at it: he seemed tense, awkward if you were being honest. All the while, he generally rubbed off as a sincere guy.

Nonetheless, throughout the lesson every once in a while, Peter would whisper innocently, asking if you were alright or if you needed help with anything. A couple more times, you’d caught him staring at you, only to quickly divert his attention away back to the front, when he’d sensed you’d seen him in the act. It’s not that it made you uneasy, although you felt weary of yourself more like it.

“Is there something on my face, Peter?” You’d utter, nudging him gently as Mr Harrington played a short clip.

“Oh-no, God I’m really sorry… You’re just, uh- You’re really pretty-”

Taken aback, you hadn’t expected that at all. Appreciating the fact you hadn’t humiliated yourself, you were indeed feeling giddy after Peter’s words. Only he felt quite the opposite.

“Shit, I’m sorry that -that just came out of nowhere… Word vomit. Not that I’m, you know- Lying or trying to-to-”

“Parker! I’m sure Miss Y/L/N doesn’t need you to translate the video for her, so in that case… Zip it, please!”

You could physically see him turning redder by the shade, shuffling himself deeper into his seat, as he diverted his full attention towards the screen… You couldn’t help although discern an instant yet natural liking in Peter, there was something quite alluring about him.

After sparing a few minutes of silence, you yet again, although more discreetly nudged Peter by the arm.

“You don’t think it’s too early to already fall for the new girl?”  

Poor attempt at a joke: Peter tried shrugging it off with a quick, small smirk, although as per usual you’d come to notice, he was still tense.

“I’m just kidding, Peter… I have a good feeling about us.”

Just as you’d given him one last, of what you’d hope was a reassuring smile, you presumed to face the front, taking a quick glance towards Mr Harrington, whom however was much more preoccupied with the video.

You felt the presence of a pair of eyes on you, Peter’s eyes… And yet, it didn’t feel at all unnerving, nor foreign. In fact, being quite frank to yourself, you’d come to assume it would be a new feeling you wouldn't struggle getting used to!

Considering I’ve talked extensively about Daiken on multiple occasions, as have many others, I’ll try to keep this short and simple.

So.

The Important Parts

Daisuke and Ken were literally designed as complements. I mentioned this in one of my earlier posts, but 02 is composed of Odd Couples and Daisuke and Ken are the Red Oni and Blue Oni specifically. Their personalities, as well as their physical appearances, were designed to complement each other.

Jogress evolution requires the partners to understand each other on a deep, spiritual level, but no one--not even Taichi and Yamato--does so with as much depth as Daisuke and Ken. Seriously, they hear each other’s heartbeats. They’re the only Jogress partners to experience that, and it doesn’t help that Jogress sounds remarkably like sex--and it’d be pretty damn funny if it worked the other way too.

They work in perfect sync, even before they’re proper friends. This is why their Jogress comes so easily to them and why they become such good friends.

Even when he’s the Kaiser, Ken hyper-focuses on Daisuke in a way that is very foe yay. He is particularly interested in defeating him specifically; the others matter far less.

Daisuke has a crush the moment he meets Ken, and he is unreasonably happy that the great Ichijouji Ken remembers his name.

Once Ken becomes good, Daisuke is the one who believes in him and invites him to join the team, even though the others aren’t on board yet. Ken isn’t ready to join them yet because he doesn’t think he deserves their forgiveness, but Daisuke’s unwavering faith in him is an essential part of his healing process.

Daisuke understood Ken’s kindness the moment he touched the Digimental of Miracles. But even after he joins the team, everyone else is continually surprised by Ken and continually underestimates him. Meanwhile, Daisuke’s just sitting over here going, “But wait, he’s always been like this!”

And it works both ways...

Ken understands Daisuke on a fundamental level as well, and he believes in him in a way none of the others ever do. He understands that Daisuke is a team player above all else, and he never thinks Daisuke is stupid or selfish or simple.

When Ken struggles, Daisuke is the one who can always get through to him. This is, of course, because of their deep connection. He talks him down from what is essentially suicide, and he gives him the strength to fight the darkness and defeat Demon.

But Ken helps Daisuke too, even though it’s not shown as explicitly. It’s pretty obvious that Daisuke has low self-esteem, especially at the beginning of the show. He has no real friends and doesn’t even really understand what friendship means. It’s not until Ken that he really begins to mellow out and properly understand what it means to be a friend, and Ken’s complete faith in him is definitely good for his self-esteem.

Daisuke functions entirely as Ken’s knight in shining armor, and when Ken goes with Oikawa and gets his Dark Seed scanned to put in the kidnapped children, he calls for Daisuke’s aid before his own Digimon partner’s. And when Ken and Wormmon are stuck in Tamachi without the ability to evolve because of the Dark Towers, Daisuke forsakes all other duties to go help him.

Ken is Daisuke’s weak spot. Throughout the show, Daisuke remains strong and confident despite his issues, but the moment Ken starts to break down, Daisuke practically begs him to stop because he won’t be able to be strong and defeat BelialVamdemon if Ken falls apart.

They literally stay up at night thinking about each other. Think about that.

Daisuke is very obviously bisexual. Ken’s sexuality is far less obvious because he’s a subtle person, but the blushing is pretty telling.

Just the way they look at each other in general. It doesn’t get cuter than this. In fact, they’re constantly looking at each other in the promo art as well.

Literally all of Diablomon Strikes Back. It’s just a giant Daiken marathon, and it’s the most beautiful thing.

Okay, and as a final note, one of the most important things is how Daisuke and Ken refer to each other throughout the series. This video does a great job summing it up, but basically, it’s this:

Daisuke is not big on honorifics in general and only uses them for Ken before he knows that he’s the Kaiser. Even after Ken’s good, he calls him Ichijouji, no honorifics, and it isn’t that long before he just switches to plain Ken. And that’s a big deal. Using someone’s first name without applying an honorific requires a deep, intimate relationship, though some younger people are less likely to use honorifics in general these days.

As for Ken, he’s much more formal than Daisuke, and for the longest time, he refers to him as Motomiya-kun. After a while, he drops the honorific and just refers to him as Motomiya, even though he refers to all the other Chosen Children by their first names (with honorifics). This shows that Daisuke is a special case--he uses his family name in a sort of act of reverence, he’s being respectful. And when Ken finally does call Daisuke by his first name (without honorifics, though he continues to use them with everyone else), it is decidedly more meaningful. But even after he calls him Daisuke, he reserves that for when they are in private and continues to call him Motomiya in front of other people. That is one hell of a distinction.

And yeah...

I said I was going to keep this short and then I didn’t.

So...sorry?

Sai visiting the triplets' apartment after finals ended and they play Cards Against Humanity with booze ‐🍊

When the triplets became old enough to drink, Sai had been the one to introduce them to alcohol. Sure their parents had given them all half a cup of wine and beer to try but Sai had been the one to really introduce them to the hard stuff. She had even introduced Saya and Saki to it before they were old enough to drink. She knew they were going to parties in high school, and she wanted to be there with them as they tried it for the first time and found out their limits. Sure Sai would always see her sisters as babies, but it was nice to have them as her drinking buddies. Especially Saya and Saki, Sae had little to no tolerance. If Mina, Sana, and Tzuyu knew about it they never intervened. Sai may sound like a bad influence, but she always kept their safety in mind. She would always look out for the little sisters. No matter what.

Sai had graduated college by the time her sisters were in it. But she knew how stressful it was, and on breaks from her schedule she would go visit them. Especially right after finals. She had texted Sae to say she was coming over, but when she showed up the triplets were all still a bit surprised.

“Unnie? Is that beer?” Saya asked as she saw a six pack of beer in her sister's hand.

“You know it is.” Sai giggled. “Now let me in, it’s cold.” Saya stepped to the side and Sai came in, setting the beer down on the kitchen table. 

“Hey Unnie.” Saki was on the couch flipping through the channels. “Hey Sak.” Sai smiled at her little sister.

“You know I’ve never understood that nickname. Saki only has one more syllable-”

“I’ve been calling you that since you were seven, don’t try to overanalyze it now.” Sai rolled her eyes, throwing Saki a beer. “Where’s Sae?” 

“Shower.” Saya informed as she came into the living room, grabbing a can of beer and opening it. “She was out with Dae.” 

“Oh really?” “Yeah but he had to go home to babysit Haeun.” Saki explained. “Anyway, what did you have in mind for tonight?” “Well I was thinking maybe we could play cards.” Sai put the bag she was carrying on her shoulder down. “I brought cards against humanity.” “Cards against humanity and booze?” Saya asked. “Have I ever told you you're the best sister ever?” 

“No never. You have never been nice to me once.” Sai rolled her eyes as she pulled the box of cards out. “And after I’ve always been so generous to you.” “This is the first nice thing you’ve done in like a year.” Saya nodded, pulling out the black cards and setting them aside. 

“Hey I’ve done tons of nice stuff for you throughout your entire life you ungrateful brat.” Sai nudged her sister's side. “Anyway, we can’t start until Sae is ready.” “I know.” Saya nodded. “I’m just shuffling the cards.” “Go ahead.” Sai took a can of beer and opened it. “How was finals?” “Tiring, but it’s over now.” Saki moved to a better spot on the couch to play the game. “How’s idol life?” “It has its ups and downs.” Sai nodded. “I did a shoot with mom and Nico, it was some kind of generational feature for a magazine or something. That was fun. I was worried because she was so excited in the car, but when we got there she was super professional.” “Mom’s had her doing modeling jobs since she was born.” Saki shrugged. “Unlike the rest of us apparently it’s okay if Nico does it.” “Well I think it’s more that Nico wants to do it. I did a shoot with mom once when I was three and mom said I had a huge diva meltdown, and I’m sure she thought all three of you at once would be a lot.” Sai explained. “I get where she’s coming from, Nico is the most mellow of us as a toddler.” “I suppose. Sae was pretty mellow though right?” “Sae was afraid of everything.” Sai scoffed. “The first time mom took you guys to one of her shoots Sae started crying because of the flashing lights.” “Really?” Saya laughed at the thought.

“Yeah. Plus any time moms had you guys do family photoshoots just for us you were always the worst. Saya you could never stay still, Sae would usually start crying, and Saki you just followed Sae and Saya.” Sai laughed at the memory. “I don’t remember much, I was only five at the time. But I did remember you guys causing lots of headaches. Mama says I did too, but Nico is the most mellow of us all. The girl couldn’t be a headache if she tried.” “She is pretty sweet.” Saki laughed. 

“Oh she can be a headache.” Saya groaned, taking another sip of beer. “At least she can be to me. She’s locked me out of the house twice, taken my keys because she thought they were a toy, and much much more.” “Yeah but you signed yourself up for that. Your the one who acts like you hate her the most, of course she’s going to torture you.” Sai commented. “It’s payback for being such a bitch Saya.” “Shut up.” Saya rolled her eyes. “I was fifteen.” “You still act like it, Saya.” Saki laughed at her fellow triplet. She turned when she heard the water for the shower turn off. “It sounds like Sae is done.” “Oh finally. I see princess Sae still showers forever.” Sai mentioned, taking another sip of beer and starting to deal out white cards face down. “Yeah, I’ve tried to start cutting her down to forty five minutes or less. She steals all the hot water.” Saya whined.

“You take like ten minute showers at the most.” Saki rolled her eyes. “You are largely unaffected by Sae’s showers.” “Well I like them short and sweet.” Saya retorted. “It’s better than Sae’s bathes that she takes at four am.” “Sae takes baths at four am?” Sai asked, clearly confused. “She says it’s for when her period hits her at night. Apparently the hot water helps.” Saki shrugged. “Makes sense.” Sai nodded, finishing dealing out the cards. “Did you see the new video of Nic mom posted on tik tok?” “Which one?” Saki asked, picking up her cards and glancing at them.

“The dance one.” Sai explained.  

“Honestly, it’s crazy my four year old sister has a better social media presence than I do.” Saya rolled her eyes. “How many followers does she have?” “Just a bit less than Saki.” Sai picked up her cards too. “So I guess she’s third overall in follower count.” “And she’s four years old.” Saya rolled her eyes. “Well mom manages it. She’s been working in the entertainment industry since she was fourteen, she knows the ins and outs pretty well.” Sai took a sip of beer with one hand as she studied her cards. “Plus Nico has been all over youtube and tik tok since before she was born. We were posting videos before she was even born.” “Yeah…” Saya sighed in relief when they heard the lock to the bathroom door click. Sae stepped out, already in her pajamas and drying her hair with a towel, with a sheet mask on her face.

“Unnie! You're here!” Sae smiled as she saw Sai. “Yup, we were waiting on you princess.” Sai had started calling Sae princess when she was two. Even though Sae had tried to tell her sister she outgrew the nickname Sai was never going to let it go, just like she would never let go of calling her sisters the babies. “Oh sorry.” Sae apologized, stepping further into the living room. “Beer and cards?” “Yup.” Sai nodded. “You're up first, I dealt the cards.” Sai explained as Sae sat down. 

“Sure.” Sae nodded. 

“How was your date?” Sae blushed faintly, the masked hiding her face as she flipped over a black card.

“Fun. We went to a movie.” Sae said, watching as each of her sisters put cards forward. She couldn’t keep a straight face as she read their answers. She eventually picked the most stupid one, the point going to Saki. 

“Movie date? Lame.” Sai laughed at Sae as Saya slipped a card over.

“I know right? They are so vanilla.” Saya agreed. 

“Hey movie dates are good.” Sae pouted, looking over her cards to pick a good one. “Saki back me up.” “I mean, did you at least make out in the bathroom?” Saki asked. “No!”

“Your nineteen Sae, you went on the same dates when you were sixteen.” Sai rolled her eyes as Saya gave the point to Sae. “Live a little.” “Don’t encourage reckless behaviour Unnie. You're the one who’s protective over me.” Saki flipped over a black card.

“Yeah well movie dates are just a little lame. It’s not the nineteen thirties. At least make out in the bathroom or something. No sex, but making out is fine.” Sai nodded. “You tell me if he’s acting up though, I’ll kick his ass.” Saki gave the point to Sai. They had played the game many times together since the triplets had moved out, so they were comfortable carrying a conversation while they played. They had always had that comfortable relationship together. As sisters they had always been fairly close, and they were all comfortable around each other. 

“I know Unnie…” And Sae wouldn’t have it any other way.

Garden Reunion

'I can't believe it's been ten years since we all graduated together,' Rose said, gesturing to the busy room elegantly with a glass of champange. She was wearing a pink slip dress in the warm summer heat of the garden party that surrounded her, and a smile that matched to make her look radiant.

'What I can't believe is how many people made it,' Alix pointed out in return. She had come in a finely tailored suit, but had removed the jacket to show that her white shirt was sleeveless and tasteful. Gone was the pink hair of yesteryear, now a deep purple that had been cropped short simliar to Rose's. 'After we all graduated we pretty much scattered to the wind in our little pairs. I've hardly heard from anyone since we left, even though we said we'd catch up.'

'I thought it was so cute how many of us all paired up after we graduated. I heard that Ivan and Mylene have had number two: a little girl.' Rose smiled. 'You missed out on a lot since you went away to America for university, I'm sorry to say, but your Aunty Rose is here to catch you up!'

'I'm sure I can guess, even from just looking around right now. And I didn't miss everything, I went to the five year reunion!' Alix teased. 'I'm sure there's enough kids having been popped out for you to be "Aunty Rose" for as much as you like.'

Juleka came up from behind Rose and slipped an arm around her waist. 'Oh? Care to make some guesses?' She wore a chic purple number with a short black jacket despite the heat, and pecked Rose on the cheek.

'Well obviously you two are still together,' Alix started. 'Not that that's a surprise. Especially by the way Rose has been waving around that ring since you both got here,' she smiled. Juleka glanced down at her wife, who only shrugged innocently. 'I don't know what she's talking about.' Rose turned her eyes back to Alix. 'Did you see the photos on Instagram of where we renewed our vows in Marseille? Wasn't it romantic?'

'Sure looked it,' Alix returned with a laugh. 'Though it's hard to sift through the sheer volume of photos that you put up.'

'Ok, who's next for guessing?' Juleka gestured to the rest of the garden around them from where they stood at the canapé table.

'Well,' Alix's eyes fell on Kim, who was staring up at the statue placed in the corner of the garden while a few others were clearly trying to talk him down. 'Kim's probably doing his sports thing. Wasn't he dating that swimmer?' Alix hesitated. 'Wait, I remember some super over-the-top proposal video I saw somewhere online, so what's the deal?'

Rose laughed out loud. 'Yes, he married Ondine. He put on this huge proposal with flowers and choreographed dancers and fountains and everything, and after she finished laughing she said yes. Honestly, it was like something out of a romantic comedy.'

'You can't lie Rose, you love those romantic comedies,' Juleka pointed out with a smile. 'Or was that all-day marathon for your birthday wasted?'

'No way! It was the perfect birthday! I loved every minute, but I'm not a teenager anymore. That kind of excess in real life would be expensive.'

'Ok, so who else is here,' Alix hummed to herself. 'Did Nathanial ever put a ring on Mark?' She questioned, spotting the couple by the punch table.

'Yes, they eloped.' Rose pouted slightly.

'You're not still mad that you haven't seen the photos, are you?' Juleka questioned jokingly.

'It's important!' Rose replied. 'I can't believe they didn't even tell us friends about it until the next event! I need to know the details!'

'They said they wanted a quiet ceremony.' Juleka pointed out.

'Here, I got you Rose,' Alix started. 'It probably went something like this: "Hey Mark will you marry me?", "Yep", "cool, hey look there's a minister over there because Italy, let's get hitched", "done", "dearly beloved, will you two grooms take each other to be your lawfully wedded grooms?", "yep", "yep" "done and done".'

'Alix, you don't have a romantic bone in your body.' Rose said dryly.

'I take pride in that fact.'

There was a commotion by the entrance to the party, as a new figure swept in, trailed by a few unfamiliar plus ones that looked up to their leader in avid admiration.

'What about Lila?' Alix asked, her eyes following the girl's grand entrance. She had long forgone the bangs and tinted red hair for her natural brunette, which was surprisingly tastefully piled up into a braided bun. Her champagne coloured, strapless dress trailed behind her into a short train, and a sheer wrap was draped around her elbows to which her gloves reached. 'It seems she's doing alright for herself, surprisingly.'

'Oh, be nice. She's mellowed, ever since she got that amazing acting job through her contacts.'

Alix glanced sideways at Juleka, who gave her a hint of a warning look.

'Oh, I see. Are those her assistants?' Alix looked back at her entourage, who were now scattering to prep the room, find her a glass of champagne and a chair.

'Yes, I think so. She keeps a couple of interns to assist her with her ongoing medical issues while she works.'

'Does she have a lot of issues then?' Alix barely stifled a grin.

'Not so many, but there's always new things popping up,' Juleka replied, pokerfaced.

'I'm going to say hello, you two should come with me!' Rose said, moving in Lila's direction and taking Juleka by the hand.

'Is she still doing work with the Agreste brand?' Alix asked Juleka in an undertone as they were towed in the girl's direction.

'Yes, more than ever. Ever since Adrien left she's had her eyes on the prize.'

'Lila, how are you?' Rose exclaimed as soon as they were in earshot.

An assistant leant over to whisper quickly into Lila's ear and Lila smiled in recognition. 'Rose! It's been so long, I can't believe it,' she replied, easing herself down into a ciar. 'And Juleka, and Alex, how are you three?'

'Oh, amazing! Alix's just got back from America, I can't believe how good the timing came out for this party. We haven't seen her in forever!' Rose replied. 'And we're doing great, I'm back working at College Françoise Dupont! I'm so happy to be helping people whenever I can.'

'That's great,' Lila said with a smile that hardly reached her eyes. 'You'll be teaching the next generation about the world. Could you get me a glass of water?' Alix glanced at the jug next to Lila as Rose happily agreed, before moving off.

'So, Lila, we were just talking about how everyone has paired off after school. Do you have anyone in your life?' Alix questioned, not half as cheerfully as she had been to Rose. She and Lila had never seen eye to eye completely, mostly due to the clear deceptions of Lila in Alix's opinion.

'Of course, can't you see my ring?' Lila proffed a delicate hand. Despite wearing gloves, she had taken her sizeable diamond ring and was wearing it on the outside of the glove. 'I got engaged at the beginning of the year in secret. I can't tell you to whom though, I don't want the press to get a hold of it just yet!' She said with a hint of conspiracy.

'I see, well, congratulations.' Alix eyed her up. 'Have you heard from Adrien lately?'

'Oh, him?' Lila rolled her eyes. 'He quit his father's business completely, and the modelling industry altogether. What does it matter after that?' Lila sat forward in a stage whisper. 'I heard that it was because he'd gotten a girl pregnant, and she threatened to go to the press. It was such a scandal, because she was so young, you know,'

'Oh? How do you know about this apparant girl?' Alix questioned, an eyebrow raising slowly.

'You hear a lot of things in the acting world, especially when you're as high-flying as I am. There are no secrets from me.' Lila said with a smirk.

'I heard that he quit everything because he was sick of it,' Juleka pointed out. 'Doesn't he work in a shop downtown now or something?'

Lila waved it away with a snort. 'That's just what the press want you to think.'

Rose returned, a glass of water in hand. 'What does the press want you to think?'

'About Adrien,-' Lila started, but was cut off.

'Oh, Adrien! He works with Marinet-'

'Marinette!!' Lila's eyes flashed. 'He's working with Marinette? He's been barred from the fashion industry!' She caught the way Rose was looking at her. 'It's just awful!' She added with a delicate sniff and dabbing of her eyes.

'Oh, speaking of, Marinette's coming tonight,' Juleka said. 'So you can ask her yourself.'

'She is!?' Lila snapped around. 'She's not here though,'

'She said she's running late.' Juleka shrugged. 'I think she's coming with Alya and Nino.'

Lila looked like she was about to sneer, but covered it quickly. 'It would be good to see Alya again, hope she doesn't press me about,' she lifted her hand and waved the ring at them, 'you know,'

'The fact you're engaged?' Alix pointed out point-blank, and Lila's jaw tightened.

'Yes, thank you Alex. That.'

'Well why don't you ask them? Here come Alya and Nino now!' Rose pointed to the entrance, where the two had clearly just been dropped off.

'Where's Marinette?' Alix asked, as she was clearly not with the pair.

She didn't wait for Lila's answer, and moved towards Alya and Nino instead.

When she approached they greeted her warmly, and Alya immediately complimented her on her tailor and hair stylist.

Alix returned the compliment to them both, before asking, 'So how are you both? I heard that Marinette was coming with you?'

'Oh, no,' Alya laughed. 'She's coming with everyone's favourite blonde. She should be right behind us though.'

Nino shook her hand warmly. 'It's good to see you, I'm really glad to see you're doing so well.'

'Still making music, music man?' Alix grinned.

'You know it,' Nino returned. 'But I produce now, managing some of the best bands in the city. Including yours truly,' he winked.

Alya nudged him. 'Look, here they come now,' she said, looking back over her shoulder.

Two glamourously dressed people were walking towards them, talking animatedly.

'See? We didn't need the driver in the end, you know I don't like bothering him unless there's an event,' Marinette was saying. She tucked a loose strand of long, flowing black hair behind her ear, her sapphire jewelry flashing in the half-light spilling from the hedged entrance to the garden. 'The Uber was fine.'

'The Uber was not fine!' Snapped back none other than Chloé, who tossed her hair animatedly. 'I'm going to give him one star, and he's lucky I can't go lower. Dropping us off at the end of the street like that. Ridiculous.'

'You're the one that wanted to be dropped there so that you wouldn't be embarrased by an Uber,' Marinette lightly chastised. 'Now you're letting the whole party know by complaining about it.'

Chloé puffed out her cheeks for a moment. 'I hate it when you're right.' She turned her attention to the small gathering by the door. 'Oh, look who it is,'

'Hey girls!' Alya exclaimed, giving Marinette a hug as she passed. 'It's been so long! Is Adrien not coming tonight?'

'Adrikins was busy,' Chloé looked put out. 'You know how he is with crowds these days. Plus,' her eyes flashed in Lila's direction. 'Certain people here aren't worth his time of day.'

'We're mostly here to see you guys,' Marinette added. 'Isn't that right?' she elbowed Chloé playfully.

'That's right,' Chloé said, without effort. 'There's a few loose things to do here before we head back to Milan.'

'Oh, I didn't know you two were working together,' Alix said, 'I thought you two couldn't stand each other.'

'You've been away too long, my friend,' Alya smiled. 'These two are running one of the biggest fashion brands in Paris as well as Milan and Rome right now.'

'And only improving, obviously,' Chloé pointed out with a grin. 'Lucky there isn't that much competition here in Paris.'

'What do you mean, not much competition?' Came the voice of Lila, who joined them as they moved towards the drinks table. 'Your little brand can hardly get off the ground here in Paris!'

All five stiffened slightly, but Marinette rolled onto one hip, planting a hand there. 'Aren't you wearing one of our dresses right now, Lila?' She looked her up and down with a grin.

'W-what are you talking about?' Lila pushed back. 'This was handmade in Milan by the finest-'

'It was made by Emile, I'd recognize that stitching anywhere,' Chloé said dryly. 'Emile's one of our best, clearly. Shame it had to be wasted on you.'

Lila flushed red, before turning and stomping away.

'Be careful of those delicate ankles!' Alya called after her, and took the returning murderous glance with glee.

'Nicely done,' Marinette said, leaning over and kissing Chloé's cheek.

Chloé grinned. 'She makes it so easy.'

'She really does,' Marinette replied with a smile.

'Oh!' Alix said suddenly. 'But Marinette, you're not wearing-'

Marinette lightly smacked Chloé shoulder. 'You can blame her for me not wearing my ring everywhere.'

'It's not my fault it outshines everything else,' Chloé returned. 'If you would be a little more glamourous it would fit in better!'

'I think I'd need to be on the Met Gala in order to be able to wear that ring, Chloé.' Marinette teased.

Chloé smiled. 'Well you can hardly blame me when only the best is worthy.' She flushed slightly.

'Aw, is she still turning red after all this time?' Alya teased.

'Noone asked you,' Chloé turned and hid her face by taking up a glass from a nearby table. 'Different topic, why is Kim on top of that statue over there?'

'Because it's Kim, why else?' Alix shrugged. 'But hang on, I thought Juleka said that Adrien was the one who was working with Marinette?'

'Oh, she said that?' Marinette questioned. 'No, he's working with my parents, actually. Turns out his passion is pastries, though I think everyone saw that from how quickly they

disappeared during our school days together.'

Alix grinned, but slowly her eyes dropped. 'I'm sorry to hear about what happened,'

'He doesn't care about any of that,' she waved her away. 'He just wants the quiet life, you know? And with his wife Kagami about to have their first, my parents are going completely insane for their adoptive grandkid. It's all the attention he wants.'

'You know Lila's saying he got a girl pregnant?' Alix pointed out. 'It's why he left.'

'He left because of his father. Simple as that.'

'Well, if it helps you were dating him at the time,' Alya elbowed her playfully. 'Got anything to tell us?'

Marinette glanced down at her perfect figure. 'Yes, actually, I do.' She turned to Chloé. 'I wanted to tell you in private, dearest, but I've actually been pregnant for the last eight years.'

'I can't believe I never knew,' Chloé replied flatly, before grinning. 'What sort of ridiculous nonsense is that? She's clearly after the company.'

'She's also "secretly engaged",' Alix pointed out, with appropriate quote gestures. 'Take that as you will.'

'Can you believe it?' Marinette said with a laugh, but composed herself. 'Nope, I'm here for a good time with my friends. I'm not going to spend it gossiping about Lila.'

'Suit yourself,' Chloé shrugged. 'So who's she engaged to?'

'Chloé,' Marinette said in a warning tone. 'Why don't we do some rounds?'

Chloé pulled a face, but when Marinette looped an arm through hers she couldn't help but smile.

'I know it's been three years, but I can't believe what a couple they make,' Alya said as the group watched them go. 'I remember when they hated each other's guts back in middle school.'

'Well, you know how it is when little boys pull little girls pigtails,' Nino shrugged.

'What, that little boys need to be taught how to deal with their emotions properly so they don't end up on wanted posters?' Alix pointed out.

'Uh, yes,' Nino agreed, 'but my point is that when Chloé got over herself, more or less, they worked things out really well. Adrien really helped with that, I think.'

'So what did Adrien have to say about his best friend and his ex dating?'

'He was pretty over the moon when everything happened, and for the record it's his two best friends dating, but he has a lot of best friends these days. We're proud of him.' Alya said.

'I can tell,' Alix smiled. 'I'll have to drop by the bakery and say hello while I'm in town.'

'He'd like that, I'm sure.' Alya smiled back.

META - Bakugo's feelings towards 1-A! Who does he actually view as a friend? Who does he actually hate? I want all those complex feelings about his classmates / 'friends'. ( also what does he think of those who have self-declared themselves his friend? )

Okay this is gonna get fucking long and that’s why I’ve been putting this off for so long but dammit I’m gonna give this a proper answer lol. I’m basically just going to list out everyone in class A and give Bakugou’s opinion on each one of them for the most streamlined way to answer this. Going to get put under a read more solely because of how long this is gonna get.

Aoyama: Bakugou thinks all the sparkling and speaking French Aoyama does is weird. Or how Aoyama seems to be pretty picky with what he eats and needs a neck napkin and placemat just to keep clean. But Aoyama generally stays away from Bakugou so he hasn’t interacted much to be further annoyed by Aoyama at all or have much to say to him. He wouldn’t willingly seek out Aoyama to partner up with during an in class exercise.

Mina: Doesn’t mind her too much. Mina’s firmly in the Bakusquad but she doesn’t really say or do much to bug Bakugou like Denki and Sero sometimes do to tease Bakugou, or push his buttons to get him to do something. She got on his radar enough to get the ‘Pinky’ and ‘Raccoon Eyes’ nickname from him, and he did notice that she’s good at dancing. 

Tsuyu: Bakugou doesn’t have much of an opinion on Tsuyu mostly due to their overall lack of personal interaction. He hasn’t vocalized it to her, but in his head he calls her ‘Frogger’ (yes based off the video game). So he doesn’t have a good or bad opinion of her as a person, or as a hero in training.

Iida: Thinks Iida has an annoying stick up his ass for sure about being such a stickler for following rules (as if Bakugou doesn’t do so himself, but on the other hand he doesn’t make a point to make sure everyone else does). Definitely gets enjoyment out of doing stuff just to get a rise out of Iida (case in point: feet up on his own desk). Doesn’t mind teaming up with Iida for mock battles in class, but Iida isn’t his first choice anyway. Bakugou is aware that Iida is one of the few classmates that snuck out to help rescue him from Kamino and he respects that shockingly delinquent course of action from Iida, but it earned some of Bakugou’s respect because of some of the risks that choice entailed, both as a UA student and as a bystander that got in close proximity of both the League and All For One.

Uraraka: (is a bit verse dependent if Bakugou’s with her or not) Thoroughly respects her after their sports festival match and wants to have another face off with her someday to see what strategy she’d come up with next and if he can best her a second time. Also pleasantly surprised at how physically strong she became after interning with Gunhead, and is interested to see how her Quirk training progresses and what extra skills she may develop for it over time.

Ojiro: Thinks he’s boring like a lot of people do, but like others in the class Bakugou has little opinion of Ojiro due to their overall lack of personal interaction so it doesn’t contribute to Bakugou thinking he’s an overall boring person. Bakugou knows he’s got a tail that’s apparently strong enough to knock people over, but that’s about it; doesn’t pay attention to Ojiro’s martial art fighting style at all.

Denki: Bakugou tolerates him. Denki’s firmly a member of the Bakusquad but Bakugou can get more easily annoyed by Denki than other members of the ‘squad’ sometimes. Mostly due to Denki’s high levels of energy and penchant for saying or doing stuff to playfully tease Bakugou like Sero often does. Doesn’t regret coming up with the ‘Dunce Face’ nickname he gave Denki, and switched over to ‘Pikachu’ more since Denki hasn’t short-circuited in awhile so the old moniker isn’t as applicable anymore.

Kirishima: (is a bit verse dependent if Bakugou’s with him or not) Kirishima’s become Bakugou’s ride or die since the cavalry battle. In that match he showed Bakugou that he’s reliable, and tough, and has room to improve that he plans on doing so to the fullest. Kirishima’s energy is good for Bakugou to be around (even if he won’t necessarily admit it) and he’s been a good influence on Bakugou as well. He appreciates Kirishima risking the trouble to save him at Kamino and knows the risks that came with from him doing so. At this point, Bakugou knows Kirishima is someone he wants to have as a friend for a very long time, and could even see himself partnering up with once they become full fledged pro heroes.

Koda: Bakugou thinks he’s a wimp honestly. Between Koda being a very soft spoken person anyway, apparently being afraid of bugs, and just not being in the forefront of things whenever they happen, Bakugou doesn’t really know why Koda’s there in the hero course.

Sato: Doesn’t have much of an opinion on Sato either for the usual reason of not much personal interaction with him. The class B joint training is the only time Bakugou’s worked with Sato in a mock fight and they meshed well in the group, but it wasn’t really enough to keep Sato in his sights. Bakugou doesn’t even have a nickname for Sato either, that’s how much he’s not on Bakugou’s radar personally or as a fellow hero in training.

Shoji: Has little to no opinion of Shoji for the usual reason. Thinks all the octopus arms and stuff looks weird, but Bakugou interacts with Shoji so little it’s not even worth it for him to bring up. Shoji’s not his first choice by any means to partner up with for an in-class exercise, he knows the sentiment would be reciprocated and Bakugou doesn’t really care either way.

Jirou: She’s one in the Bakusquad that Bakugou thinks he vibes well with more than others. Jirou being one of the most mellow members of the squad (but not in a bad way) makes Bakugou a bit more comfortable seeking out her company over say Sero or Denki who are much more talkative and energetic and likely to get on Bakugou’s nerves. He and Jirou can just hang out and not need to fill the time with talking or sound every single second. Working together with her in the class B joint training showed him how their fighting styles can work together without them being in the way of the other, and Bakugou would willingly partner up with her again for future class exercises.

Sero: Another member of the Bakusquad that Bakugou sort of tolerates more than anything. He’s not a fan of how Sero knows how to say so little and easily manipulate Bakugou into doing something (case in point: convincing Bakugou to play the drums for the school festival performance). But having Sero in his group for the class B joint training helped Bakugou appreciate Sero a bit more in them being able to work together but not getting in each others way to the point of hindering the other.

Tokoyami: Doesn’t have much of an opinion on Tokoyami as a person, but the fact that Bakugou’s Quirk is such a foil to Dark Shadow and how easily he’s been able to take down Dark Shadow on multiple occasions (though one of said occasions was out of safety for himself and others, but still) has Tokoyami on Bakugou’s radar more than other classmates. He doesn’t have a particular nickname for Tokoyami (yet), but Bakugou’s secretly intrigued to see if Dark Shadow is ever able to present Bakugou with a harder fight where Bakugou doesn’t win as easily and they could have a more challenging match.

Shoto: (is a bit verse dependent on if Bakugou’s with him or not) Mister Threw-the-match will never entirely get away from that occasional moniker. Shoto is the first person in the class that Bakugou viewed as a true rival in terms of power and capability. Shoto being a recommended student didn’t matter to him or not, but Shoto was Bakugou’s wake up call that he’s still not the best of the best and that there can and are other people who can challenge Bakugou in a fight and can just as easily keep him from the top spot in class. Served Bakugou a much needed slice of humble pie whether Bakugou wanted it or not. He respects Shoto’s power, but he would never pick Shoto first to help him in the kitchen unless the boy went through some serious cooking lessons. 

Hagakure: Bakugou has no idea why she’s in the hero course. Her Quirk is good for stealth but he has zero idea how she passed the entrance exam (especially considering she’s far from a top student academically) with her limited physical strength and not really able to do anything offensively at all (he thinks her being able to reflect light is boring honestly) and was able to secure a spot in the hero course. Unless he got partnered up with her by a teacher, Bakugou wouldn’t willingly partner up with her. Also because he would have little to no idea where she is and if she was in range of one of his explosions, so she would be a huge liability while working with him because he can’t do anything to protect her from his Quirk or know if he needed to be careful to not hurt her, so that liability is a big dealbreaker for him.

Deku: Bakugou’s opinion of Deku has improved vastly over the course of the last year alone, and he now views Deku as a friendly rival or more of an equal than he ever has. Watching Deku progress and become stronger and be able to hold his own has shown Bakugou that Deku is no longer the crybaby wimp he used to only see Deku as, and he’s someone worthy of taking on All Might’s mantle and just maybe, they can start being proper friends. Bakugou still has his own inner demons to fully own up to, but they’ve started working towards a better partnership between the two of them.

Mineta: Bakugou’s far from a fan of Mineta. He’s had more than one occasion that he wanted to kick Mineta over the perimeter wall of UA for some of the comments he’s made about their female classmates since Bakugou does drink his respect women juice, but he doesn’t feel like getting stuck under house arrest again for it. He did get a lot of enjoyment out of Jirou poking Mineta in the eye with her earphone jack though. As a fellow hero in training, Bakugou hasn’t paid Mineta any mind and has zero desire to. Mineta’s basically at the bottom of who he’d willingly partner up with for an in class exercise.

Momo: Like Iida, Bakugou’s not a fan of how much a stickler Momo can be for enforcing the rules both for herself and for others. Bakugou is aware that Momo is one of the few that snuck off to help rescue him from Kamino and he respects that she made that risky and dangerous choice to do so. He might not necessarily seek Momo out to partner up for an in class exercise since she is still very untrained with both her confidence and making stuff (and utilizing what she made) quickly, so Momo being a sort of slower fighter wouldn’t make her as good a fit to work specifically alongside Bakugou, but if she gets better and shows him what she’s got, he’d be more inclined to try and work with her more.

As for those in the class who have self-proclaimed themselves Bakugou’s friend, he’s kind of had no choice but to accept it because he isn’t going to be able to change their mind or drive them away. If the Bakusquad was going to decide they didn’t want to be his friends after all, it would’ve happened by now and Bakugou knows it. He’s taken the having a ‘squad’ in stride, even if he gets annoyed by some of them at times.

Chart First Impressions: Joshua

This is just a very general reading of the member’s charts — the parts that popped out to me, things I personally liked, things I thought were interesting or contrary to the image I have of them. I’m not looking at anything in particular with each reading. Some of their readings may be more aspect focused, where some may just focus solely on their personal planets and their signs. that moon is roooough. 

lmao, this moon is a lot to unpack so it’s gonna take up this entire reading i’m sorry

with such an earthy and logical chart, it’s almost a good thing for him to have such an afflicted moon because otherwise the emotional and feeling part of himself would never be challenged or explored (unless imposed onto him externally) 

but based on his chart, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s had a hard time understanding himself emotionally.

also considering that capricorns have a rep for being prone to difficulties with processing emotions healthily and consistently, I’m sure this is an area he has struggled with in some way shape or form.

or, if anything, an area in his life he has often had to take into extra account.  

with so many hard aspects, confronting this part of his life is almost unavoidable if not the epicenter of his own personal development.

anyway, his moon square mercury & moon square uranus are constantly making him doubt his emotions. Not only does he struggle to understand them, but there is an inherent distrust of his emotions that he may struggle to overcome. 

there is a constant questioning on whether to trust the mind or the heart. 

inversely, his moon TRINE jupiter gives him a super bleeding and generous heart while his moon square neptune also makes him incredibly perceptive, sensitive, and intuitive. 

moon in hard aspect to neptune not only heightens the intensity of his emotional responses, but he may experience a sense of delusion. He may struggle to understand what he’s feeling vs. what is actually happening. furthering this sense of emotional distrust within him.

additionally, he reacts intensely and notices so much, but his first reaction may be to invalidate. 

his mind can’t trust his own intuition, while his intuition is skeptical of his mind’s pure logics. 

his moon is square venus which would make it hard for him to understand how to express his affection, as well as figure out how to get his need for affection met. 

this can manifest for a lot of people very differently. 

sometimes that’d mean they seldom express affection as there simply isn’t a path for these feelings to be released. 

with joshua, he may still express affection, it may just be a bit awkward, random, or forced sometimes. mainly because, again, it doesn’t just flow through him like it does for others and he may struggle in identifying when it’s needed. 

other more emotionally intuitive members like wonwoo and dk may find themselves moving to comfort without even realizing, simply because they’re so in tune with the others they are just drawn to where their attention is needed. 

more logical and practical members like joshua are still capable of offering this comfort, it just goes through a much more intellect driven filter. “is that person acting weird? why would they be upset? does that make sense? what could have happened? should i leave them alone? should i comfort them? hmmmm maybe I should ask. maybe i’m making it all up.”

and for joshua in particular, learning how to shorten that process is a mixture of getting to know the people he loves and studying their habits, as well as learning to trust his gut more and more. 

his moon square venus also creates a conflict between his own emotional needs, and the needs of others. this can make him a people pleaser, a yes-man, a serial romantic. 

he may struggle to identify when a situation is no longer serving him and when to step away. 

in different stages of his life he may struggle to leave or move on from relationships, and on the other side of the spectrum he may find himself being that “serial romantic.” this can greatly depend on how his other aspects manifest.

his taurus moon square capricorn mars also heightens his emotional responses and could potentially lead to boiling/explosive anger. 

this would simultaneously trigger his softer, sensitive, nurturing parts of himself that would hate those reactions while further fueling his self-distrust. 

we can also look at this in the more literal aspects of these planets. 

his desire to act (mars) is fighting for dominance with his emotions (moon), which can very unevenly distribute the emotionally-charged and turbulent energies that can arise in moments of discord. 

both his moon and mars are in earth signs which can mean he experiences long periods where he is totally fine and very reasonable. they’re both very stable, down-to-earth, and mellow signs and can often find areas of understanding and agreement with each other even though they’re in this hard aspect.

a taurus moon seeks comfort and familiarity which keeps his cap mars in a easy place where it isn’t challenged very often. 

the issue is, is that taurus can be much more easily provoked than a cap mars can. a cap mars can be cool and collected, even in moments of anger where as a taurus moon can 100% blow up if pushed too far, made too uncomfortable, or are challenged too much.

where taurus may decide “that’s enough i’ve had it” a capricorn may simply file it away to be attended to later and more strategically.

and with that, his cap mars HATES being at his taurus moon’s mercy when provoked. this is something that his cap influence would be very frustrated with as he’d much more comfortably depend on his own internal stability than external forces while his taurus moon can’t help but feel flustered by certain things. 

this is why the members consider him a TERRIFYING person to see angry. 

he is so calm and collected for so long thanks to both of these signs, but this aspect creates a tension where his capricorn mars tries to censor his taurus moon and which further activates his taurus moon’s super indignant and headstrong attitude/frustration. 

and once his cap mars decides he’s had enough i can see it playing out in one of two ways. 

1) he’s trigger happy, super frustrated and cannot hide it. either he becomes visually upset or he starts getting short with people over the smallest things

2) he continues to boil until one person steps out of line, and from there you get a perfectly compiled list of reasons why you shouldn’t have done that specific thing and also what everyone else is doing wrong. 

but to put it simply, i watched a lot of joshua angry videos and compilations and i didn’t see even a hint of ACTUAL joshua anger (at least what i’d expect from his chart)

he’s super controlled with it on the day to day and is incredibly composed, which is why he is such a scary guy if you piss him off. it’s so unexpected and sooooooo much more deeper and intense than you ever could have predicted. 

this can tend to be a very discouraging habit for him as he has two parts of his personality that intrinsically HATE when he has outbursts or even feeeeels anger to that degree. 

one being his earth and cap influences that hate the feeling of losing control. 

and two being his softer aspects i mentioned before like his moon trine jupiter and moon square neptune. 

because he has this super soft and empathetic side to him, he probably feels immense guilt in the aftermath of his outbursts and can create this series of events where he finally gets these things off his chest, and then immediately backs away from them because, once the negative feelings have been released, his resolve dramatically lessens. 

not only that, but his judgement on when and when not to act is inhibited due to this moon square mars so he may end up getting mad at the wrong people at the wrong time. 

and the unfortunate thing about all of this is that joshua really doesn’t have a clear path of expression in his chart when it comes to the more turbulent and moody aspects of our personalities thanks to this afflicted moon.

these emotions boil inside of him, both good and bad, and they go every which way to try and find some kind of release.

often times, especially when he was younger, he may have found that he wasn’t comfortable expressing them in any specific way so eventually they’d just explode one way or another. 

this may have made him appear much more unpredictable, impulsive, and hot-headed than he actually inherently is. 

so if you had told me he had a rebellious streak as a kid i’d totally believe you.

often times earth signs with this kind of energy end up doing some stupid things as kids simply to exert control over themselves to counterbalance the instability they may be experiencing internally. 

if you know someone similar who has mellowed out over the years, that’s because they had gotten to know themselves and found different ways of expressing their emotions and exerting control. 

but this is were i really really gotta put a huge disclaimer because i don’t know joshua, i can only look at his mannerisms, the things he says, and generally just try and read his energy through videos and how he acts in a group. 

i think these are fun things to consider but i would never treat this reading as fact unless he were to, for some wild reason, validate it. 

but lets wrap this up because this is getting long.

the funny thing with moon placements is they all kind of hint towards a strong influence on the part of a mother or a nurturing “motherly” figure in general. 

the nature of the influence can be determined based on if the relationship with this mother-figure is either good, bad, or absent (though we know it’s not absent and is pretty clearly a positive influence for him). 

if it’s bad, he may resent this part of himself that’s so hyper aware of his emotional shortcomings. 

if it’s good, then these aspects are far easier to deal with and — in certain situations — can be entirely nulled. 

but most importantly, if neither of those, he’d at least be able to find value in them.

obviously these things are more nuanced than that, but these are some of the few ways you can interpret such a strong emphasis on the moon. 

so many hard aspects in his moon have activated and created awareness of himself that may have remained dormant and unexplored.

i’m only using depression as an analogy (I don’t know joshua’s life) but it’s very similar to explaining your depression to someone who has had similar experiences before vs someone who hasn’t. 

sure, someone who hasn’t can understand the gist but they wont understand the severity and they wont understand the nuance. 

thanks to Joshua’s afflicted moon, after a lot of growth and time, he will inherently be able to understand the nuance of other people’s emotions as well as his own.
