ik he regrets not falling with the brothers, and he beats himself up about it constantly. it's why he helped them during the war. i already went on a tangent about his struggle to pick a side before the war here but GOD it still hurts reading this

barbatos' ideal world revolving around diavolo is unsurprising, but also very telling of his character. he's so focused on everything and everyone around him, making sure space-time stays stable, that he doesn't have time to think about anything but that. not even when it pertains to himself and his happiness

barbatos' happiness revolves around fulfilling his duties as butler/subordinate, but also making sure he stays sane long enough to ensure that the instability and semi unpredictability of time itself doesn't prevent diavolo's wishes from coming true

So, Time Chronicles huh? I haven't played og so I'm happy I can read it but I've seen some people say that new readers are going to miss context bc related calls/texts aren't embedded into the story. I think I'll wait and see if devs add them before I read but what do you think?

Also I wonder if they've made any more changes to the story (iirc @/devildomwriter has at least the main story backed up) Crossing fingers that og devilgrams (unlikely in my opinion) and outfits eventually get ported too

I have to admit that my feelings about it are mixed.

On the one hand, I'm thrilled that everyone gets to catch up with the story! I think it's great that I don't have to switch between apps to read the OG anymore. And I also love that they're including the event stories and birthday stories, so you never have to worry about missing them. And then you can still use Lonely Devil if you want to grind for specific cards.

But on the other hand, this doesn't bode well for the OG app in general. And I'm going to really miss a lot of those cards. Not to mention all the time and money I spent on everything in that app. This is truly the big downside to it.

As for the chats and phone calls, I'm not sure what they're gonna do about that. It's true that you need the ones that are part of the story if you want that extra context. My hope would be that they would find a way to include them, so that you don't miss out on that stuff when you read OG. Specifically I remember there being a lot of chats that were embedded in the story.

But does this mean we're also going to lose all the cards, Devilgrams, outfits, daily chats, and phone calls that we all spent a lot of time and money on to obtain in OG?

I wish they would tell us, but their silence on it is pretty damning. Most likely if they were going to transfer all of that over to Nightbringer, they would have told us, right? Because they would know that would make us all happy??

I do feel like lately they've been trying to listen to their players and incorporate things that we say we want. For instance, allowing us to remove that ad banner on the home screen, bringing back birthday events, and now putting the OG story into NB so anyone can read it.

If they could just give us those other things, I'd be pretty satisfied with game play as a whole. (The writing is a different issue, let us not discuss it lol.)

But as it stands right now, unless they keep the OG app running for as long as NB is running, then some of us stand to lose quite a lot of money and all of us will have lost the time invested.

Anyway, I'm sorry, I know that wasn't really what your ask was about. If you've never played OG, then you'll have nothing to worry about losing. I'm not sure if they're going to include the chats and so on, but I hope they do because I feel like it's a little silly to leave those out?

Also not sure how different the story will be, but my guess is probably not by much. It's easier for them not to mess with it and to just put it in there as is. I don't think they're going to be doing any major rewriting lol.

I abandoned canon when they released an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT GAME rather than revamp/rework the old game and gave us no way to transfer cards or anything.

I'm not at all mad with anyone who continued on, don't get me wrong. But seeing now that people are being asked to pay THAT much for a 'date'?? Glad I jumped ship a long time ago. It's better here. Free in the fandom

Honestly, so valid of you, anon.

I am biased because when I started playing, NB was already here. So I wasn't as invested in OG (time or money). I was still trying to make my way through the lessons, but getting the cards and leveling them was harder for me in OG than they were in NB, so I ended up gravitating to NB. And then they eventually made the OG story available on NB and for me, I was kinda grateful (felt bad for the OG players though! Damn...)

But the overall story has gotten so far off course at this point. And they keep reusing previous plot points/situations but lightly modified and it feels really.... lazy.

And like...I get that the company needs to make money, there's a lot that goes into producing and maintaining a game. But their prices are too much for a flat rate and a "date" that doesn't seem much better than your typical UR+ devilgram, and that combined with how the romance and implied steaminess has been very much nerfed (except for the art and home screen dialogues ironically), it's just been really losing steam for me. It's a shame cuz I love the characters and the world (what we get of it at least) and I loved the parts of the story that made sense (mostly earlier NB and OG stuff). So much potential but they've been squandering it for a while.

I'm going to keep writing for the fandom, and I'm still playing NB to follow the main storyline when I have time, but I'm definitely not as active with any other aspects of the game. I rarely do/read the events, only to quickly gain XP and collect the DP. I don't use the Wanderer's Whereabouts, or the Deviltube thing, and even the Devilgram stories have been lacking a certain something for me lately. Really I'm just watching the main story hoping they'll eventually Get To The Point. But even then I'm not sure how long I'll last if they keep dragging things out.

Anyway... it is what it is, amiright? Either Solmare will see how this is received and get their shit together, or.... they won't. I'm not really holding my breath either way.

solmare I swear if you make mammon have ONE more intimate moment with MC only to be interrupted by the usual perps (Lucifer, Levi and Luke) (damn Ls) I will explode. ESPECIALLY if it ends with mammon going “AAA evil brothers😡angry chiwawa🤣anyway I gotta skiddadle!” And running away. Every time that happens an angel loses its wings

Tell me why you give mammon character development in a scene, we have a deep chat, you can smooch him or whatever, and the whole 2-lesson-arc has been leading up to this moment of vulnerability and hopefully character development only to make him run away and lose literally everything that this mini-arc taught him. Surely. SURELY there is a point in time between making a pact with him and like idk the end of season 3 when mammon realises his relationship (platonic, romantic, whatever it is for your MC) with MC is more important than Grimm to him. Not entirely, because that’s a core part of his character, just a point where he realises “hm I’m going to TRY paying Levi back so he stops interrupting me! And try calm down for lucifer so I can spend more time with MC instead of hanging from the ceiling!” Right? RIGHT??!!!?!

We see time and time AGAIN how much he cares for MC (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but he’s one of the only 2 brothers who hasn’t directly/intentionally endangered MC and I THINK he was the only one who seemed distraught at their death??? Last one is probs wrong) but he still finds a way to abandon MC every time someone’s shouts “MAMMONNNN” or starts chasing him. Like, bro. I get you’re a wimp with crippling debt but the LEAST you could do is drag MC with you so that they don’t get in trouble instead since he clearly cares for them😞🙏

And him running away being for comedic purposes isn’t even a valid reason for it to happen because there are funny ways for him to NOT just abandon us. 1) he could hide instead. There is a scene I believe is in season 2(?) where he’s in his room with MC, Levi storms in and they hide in his car. Not sure if they made a funny thing out of hiding in a car, but that scene led to Levi saying that he couldn’t smell mammon and meme on calling him a blood hound. Idk about you but I for one certainly har-har’d at that. Plus, hiding would be a nice change of pace from mammons usual running away. Option 2) Mammon could drag us with him??? I don’t play events or devilgram because I’m too lazy and poor for that but I’m like 99% sure that in the main story of OG game, mammon does NOT bring us with him any time he’s running away, which is weird because he’s always yelling that we should be with him cause he’s “our first” (his words not mine obv) but I don’t remember any scenes that he brings us with him when he needs to leave?? I would LOVE to be wrong on that part so please correct me if I’m wrong but I sadly don’t think I am. Option 3) Picture this: mammon gets spooked, screeches because he’s a wuss, he runs away (whether it be from a person, witch, whatever is after him) only to realise: “Wait! I left my favourite person behind! Whoops!” And he runs back and grabs MC (Maybe by the sleeve like a toddler, maybe by the hair, maybe he even princess carries them because yes) that’s it. That’s the whole thing. Mammon drags/carries MC after forgetting them. You could even expand on that and have him apologise for it, or get all flustered and deny he forgot MC, or act all proud like he saved MC as if he isn’t the reason MC is in danger or was left behind in the first place MMMITS SO GOOD SOLMARE FEED ME

All I’m asking is for solmare to PLEASE let us have a long, well-written and intimate moment with mammon that isn’t interrupted, or if it is he TAKES US WITH HIM or COMES RIGHT BACK FOR US when he runs away. I beg

but the thing is,

i don't believe diavolo is "canonically yandere"

and here is why:

first off, those admissions stated are not unique to "yandere" characters only. multiple characters have expressed wanting to keep mc to themselves, and given the chance, they would proclaim so. it can't be a fact contributing to diavolo = yandere if other "non-yandere" characters (say, mammon or asmodeus, or perhaps simeon) would or have already proclaimed such things. Obey Me is a romance oriented game. It is quite normal to hear/read lines of the sort, no matter the character archetype. I've played otome/gacha games including Solmare's games since back when they were still Shall We Date. edit: —and therefore encountered those same lines multiple times.

second, his character song. i genuinely believe his character song isn't meant to suggest that he's yandere. i didn't feel any of the sort. if anything, diavolo's character song instead feels likd desperation. like he was doing his best to sell himself to mc.

Even the chorus feels like he was trying to convince mc and him both.

"Fear nothing and move forward." seems to be a message to himself, a reminder that despite possible, suggested fears of not being chosen, not being the closest to the player in comparison to the brothers, especially Lucifer.

It's very hard to explain and I probably should be doing my research paper instead but technically, he is the number 1. He's the prince of Devildom. He has the authority, the riches, the power. He's royalty. But compared to Lucifer and the brothers, he has barely any way to connect to mc. Not to mention that Lucifer is the more present and active forefront.

It's also like...like he thinks he needs to exchange luxury or material things to be loved.

Honestly I don't think I have enough non-neurodivergent braincells to be able to express my views on the matter clearly and concisely, so this ends here.

edit: i am back from first major hurdle of research study. right now i am not playing obey me. the way the writers handled the story and the individual character depths of all the male leads disappointed me, so i only come back for fanfic ideas because yes, despite what has happened in the story, i still love the characters. so yeah. as of now, these opinions are of what i know from the character song, and from side/event stories as well as devilgram and chats. before stopping, i did play obey me for the main story for three years though.

point one: it was not diavolo who was specifically responsible for mc's estrangement into devildom. mc was chosen by random and complete bad luck, mentioned by lucifer in satan's arc. even then, choosing did not fall under diavolo's responsibilities, but lucifer's. pretty irresponsible way to choose an exchange student, especially a human one, but diavolo wasn't even meant to be a dateable character back in the earliest part of the main story for it to suggest that diavolo has yandere tendencies. the only thing that implies is that demons overestimated humans and their ability to adapt/acclimate or simply did not care. however, this argument is only viable if the yanking mc from home thing one is referring to is not from season 1.

point two: the definition of a yandere is exactly, word for word, this: Yandere is a portmanteau of two Japanese words. The first is yanderu, which means “to be sick,” and the second is deredere, used here for “lovestruck.” A yandere is often sweet, caring, and innocent before switching into someone who displays an extreme, often violent or psychotic, level of devotion to a love interest

here's a longer definition:

point three: there's a distinct difference between yandere and somewhat possessive or jealous.

point four: barbatos is def much more of a canon yandere than diavolo, and i am not against fanon/headcanon/au yandere! diavolo.

A Maskless Masquerade?

Dialogue is HEAVILY paraphrased & the events are HEAVILY summarised/edited so this is in no way a substitute to reading the actual Devilgram

Asmo invites Mammon & MC to his "new & improved" Masquerade party where the masks are provided at the party itself. Mammon picks out a raven mask that disappears the second he puts it on (then what's the fucking point of having a Masquerade!? The whole point is the mysterious masks! This is a fancy influencer party though so...).

"I can't believe Asmo just fucking scammed us wtf" says MC

"Right!? Where the fuck's the manager!? No wait fuck it where's Asmo!" screams Mammon

Which catches Asmo's attention, who basically says "I was wondering what all the yelling was about but seeing as it's the two of you it makes sense now."

Mammon complains about the mask and Asmo says these masks are meant to disappear once they're put on (are you sure this isn't a scam?") and that they also have magic powers (don't YOU have magic powers!?).

MC picks out a mask but all it does is turn invisible because this one's one of the duds that are mixed in with the rest.

"And :) you :) can't :) choose :) another :)" says Asmo

"This is fucking bullshit" says Mammon

Asmo says there's a button in the corner of the mask if they want to take it off. He tells them to have fun and leaves them to it. Mammon says he doesn't fully get the hype but they can still have fun with just his mask

Mammon's cussing Asmo out for not really telling them how to use the mask and MC suggests moving his arms about because it's a bird mask. Mammon does so and black feathers appear around them & he then asks MC to dance with him in a shower of feathers.

If MC takes the lead he laughs brightly and says they're feeling confident.

If he takes the lead he ends up dragging them too close (by accident? Because he seems surprised by them ending up so close to him. It feels/sounds like he grabbed their hand and maybe pulled them to him.) He blushes and looks aside and tells them that for this song they need to dance close together and then MC goes:

If they say the first one he snaps that they're wrong which makes them start laughing.

If they say the second one, they press even closer to him which makes him stutter & blush and say that he didn't mean that close but he doesn't mind.

The other masks are letting out bubbles and confetti.

MC says the masks look like they'll be a big hit & Mammon draws them closer to take a picture - promising to send it to them later.

The others masks can all do more than one type of magic and Mammon wonders what else his can do. He finds a sheet of paper saying that each mask has a specific set of instructions written on the inside. He says he can't remember seeing anything but takes off his to check again.

The instructions ask him to raise his arms above his head.

He says the instructions are vague because they don't really say what that's supposed to do. MC says it builds up more suspense that way and he smiles and says he didn't think about that & that they always find a way to put a positive spin on things, which is one of the things he likes about them.

Raising his hands makes a large fan appear and MC suggests he try fanning it. He agrees but asks them to get behind him first cause they don't know what the fan will actually do (🥺).

The fan makes him start floating and he waves it at MC to get them floating too. They say it feels awesome and he laughs and says they're good at it but to not get ahead of themself or they may crash

One of the masks has started conjuring up balloons but they don't stop, making the entire room fill with too many balloons and sending Mammon crashing towards the wall

MC grabs Mammon and pulls him closer to them and away from the balloons. They crash into each other and he thanks them before realising they're holding him really close and he blushes and snaps at them to let him go cause they're gonna give him a bigger heartattack than nearly crashing into the wall did

He distracts them by telling them they should get back to dancing and he conjures up more more feathers and MC easily takes the bait - happy to get distracted if that means they get to praise Mammon. He laughs and they end up dancing the night away.

They were allowed to take the masks with them as souvenirs, and on the way home Mammon suddenly gets serious and says he wants to try something.

MC, ever the opportunist and ever the simp, says : Like holding hands? *^*

He stutters and blushes and says that's not what he meant but if they really want to they can. He then notes that their hands are warm (this is the third Devilgram where Mammon's commented on how warm MC/MC's hands are and I dunno I just think it's neat).

Anyway what he actually wanted to try was to use his mask's magic to fly home (my guy, you have wings)

"Fuck yeah!" says MC

Mammon says that MC's got better at keeping their balance and asks how they're doing. But before they can reply a gust of strong wind blows towards them and in a parallel to the last time, Mammon ends up pulling MC towards him to keep them safe.

Mammon's expresses worry and MC, ever the opportunist and ever the simp, says "Hey how about I kiss you as a thank you for saving me?" And then they kiss him without waiting for a reply.

Mammon's taken completely by surprise and can only stutter out some noises before he sighs and tells them that they're playing dirty.

They kiss him again because they're an ass like that and he's shocked silent this time before he tells them there's something about them... He then snaps and tells them he wants to kiss them again and that he's not letting them go until they get home, wondering how many kisses it'll take till they have to land

And then to the dismay of everyone below them, they make out during the whole ride home

The End

In the first chat Mammon says that the masks are gaining a lot of popularity and that he bets the creator sponsored the whole party as a way to boost said popularity

He's proven right in the next chat when Asmo, on their group chat, says that he was given the masks and asked to invite a lot of influencers to the party.

The little brooch on the picture on the left is similar to the large one he had in his Lord of Fools costume. Though the one on the Fools costume is very obviously a sun.

It kills me that Lucifer's the "Morning Star" but Mammon's got more sun symbolism

If you've read the devilgram story "angel's first horror game"- how do you think the demon bros (+the others if you'd like) would react if the mc got said virus and their d.d.d ended up sending similar messages to them as simeon's did?

I have not read the Devilgram story, but I did look up a summary. I apologize in advance if I'm missing some details.

somehow i have more UR+ than other types, but you have to remember that "A" and "Event" also should count towards the Regulars, which i didnt do. I should have 44 UR's vs my 31 UR+'s

anytime i get a new UR(+) i can just add it onto a list in the same document and all this information will be updated!! YIPPEE

anyway back to the OG diagrams, you can see i only have 2 envy cards that i use, despite me having that sin the most (along with greed). whats not in this document is my beloved Luke 21 B-day SSR, my strongest card TO DATE. STILL. its somehow way stronger than any other UR so theres not really a need for envy cards all that much =w=bb

Aside from levi, the only other guy who's card i use more than not is simeon. I think thats because 2 of his UR's (the ones i still use) go al the way back to when i first started. so, early ur's, very well leveled from the start, and i just kept using em.

you'll see that i have more cards of Levi that i use than that there are actual sins. this is because im a sucker for him and want his pretty cards to be leveled. maybe they have an outfit, maybe its a UR+ that i want to replace a UR, something like that.

also. yes i have a total of 75 cards, out of which only 27 i really use. sue me. i like collecting the pretty pictures.

I could make another infograb on whether or not ive read the devilgram but lemme tell you... those'll look very two-sided. literally every Levi & Belphegor cards'll be there and MAYBE 2 other singulair cards from the beginning days.

i think it'd be fun to keep track of how strong each card is but that is WAY too much to do without automisation. none of this is linked to my actual game im putting it all in by hand. so imagine having to change it any time a card levels up.... PAIN.

Since a lot of story keys were given during this event, have you read any of the devilgrams for the new Anniversary cards?

I have. 7 of them so far.

I'm going for Banner Lucifer next, but I have to draw a couple things first.

My onion (without spoilers):

Diavolo (from banner): This one features a very needy MC who can't be left alone and needs to be taken care of uwu. Don't vibe. 2/10

Barbatos: The first two give me 2nd hand embarrasment, I can't exactly put into words why. Like I was gonna roll with having Barbatos take a break, the rest is just... yeah I'm not replaying those two. Uuuuhhhh cw for people who don't like inebriated person stuff in this one. Kiinda questionable/10

Simeon SSR: The cheese is so strong in this one. Cheese drenched in honey, overly sweet all around. 5/10

Simeon UR: Less sweet, still tender. He's just like this, huh? 6/10

Satan: Favorite, by a long shot. The premise is good, there is a whole gram for silly fun antics, and his words at the end resonated with me in a way I didn't expect this game to, and hadn't done so far. MC isn't a whiny babey idiot. 15/10

Solomon: Listen I know they get some leeway with these things, it shouldn't be taken seriously. But the inconsistencies... "you can't go back to HoL like this" mate, Beel was there, he lives there too and he is in the same "predicament"... either help him too or think of something else. The rest was good. He's such a nerd. Good MC too. 7/10

Lucifer (from box): He's a stick in the mud. It is an acquired taste. I wish MC could play it cool for once with him, but then nothing would happen. Lucifer/10

I actually really like all the villain outfits?? The hero ones are okay, but they're a little boring in comparison. And like the villains got Barbatos, Solomon, AND Mammon!?? I mean there's no question which side I would choose lol.

And yesssss, Beel looks amazing, too!! AND THIRTEEN. She's stunning and I love her.

I pulled more than I maybe would have in the Nightmare because I wanted to grind this event too!! There are so many things that I'm totally loving!! Straight up, it's the villains and the CARDS are really good, too!!!

LOLOL I laughed so hard when I first saw Mammon's login bonus line! I was like listen, I know you think you're a bad boy and that's really dang cute, but we all know you're a good boy. :)

But yes, they REALLY NEED TO STOP with the choker/collar situation!!! I swear it's every single Mammon outfit nowadays and every time it feels like a personal attack lol.

Oof I'm sorry about working retail, I know it sucks! I think Lucifer would be good at being a manager, but he'd probably scare the shit out of customers. Maybe that's a good thing lol. Mammon would charm everybody just by being his adorable self. He's just got that outgoing personality, so I think he'd do all right. Might blow up every now and again with someone pushing too far. I think Asmo would also do well, but he's also not gonna let anyone get away with just anything.

I kinda see Beel being too nice. Like he'd be good at it, but he'd be the one who just lets customers yell at him without defending himself at all.

Belphie, Satan, and Levi would all be failures for different reasons, put those guys in the back lol.

I don’t know if you have this one card but I found it rather interesting as it manages to give Solomon more depth. So I wanted to share it with you.

This is the Devilgram story by the way.

Anyways it basically goes that Solomon wants to create a box where anyone who is in it can only get out if they tell the truth. He enlists MC’s help to draw it, but lo and behold as always, both manage to get trapped inside of it. So they try to tell the truth about something they’ve previously lied about.

Solomon says he lied just the other day by giving Asmo a vague answer when He asked for his fortune to be read.

MC’s prompt are between having previously lied about a test that wasn’t easy or complimenting someone’s cooking they didn’t like. Let me tell you, the second was funny because finally we get to tell Solomon his cooking is bad. But I felt so bad choosing it since Solomon responds as such…

Yet this isn’t enough to get them out because MC helped, so the spell ended up changing. Now Solomon and Mc need to reveal a secret about themselves in order to escape the box. Leading us to be able to choose out of 3 prompts to ask Solomon.

• What is something he hasn’t told anyone?

But let’s backtrack a bit.

All the way to Solomon’s profile.

It clearly states Solomon dislikes the ocean. I forget if it was on your blog or on Tumblr, but I remember someone posted once that the reason Solomon could hate the ocean is due to having one of his rings thrown into it. And so he had to search for it in order to find it.

But despite that possibly being the reason, or having such a bad experience with the ocean, this great magician still took the time to research the ocean. Enough to publish a book about fish habitats.

That’s dedication right there.

I wonder if this will be brought up again in the main story, since the only instance was Solomon trying to make a pact with Lucifer. And did Solomon ever find this ring?

Obviously I don’t expect that to happen this season as it’s meant to revolve around the 3 new transfer students….unless Thirteen has it 👀???

I have this devil gram in my collection, but I appreciate you giving me your thoughts. It is a good Solomon lore dive.

There's a point back in season 3 when a drunken Asmodeus tells Solomon his cooking is not just terrible but it also comes with negative magical properties, and Solomon seems genuinely hurt by the comment. He asks Simeon to teach him but the lessons don't seem to stick. He's back to trying to cook in the cafe a few lessons later. It seems he's sincere in his desire to share his cooking with everyone, but he's not apt to get any better at it.

Solomon still has his ring (the Ring of Wisdom). He uses its animal-speaking powers in multiple devilgrams and in a couple events. We don't know if the OM canon is 100% identical to the biblical story (My guess? Probably not. Asmo revealed he and Solomon met when the former was drunk and sobbing at being rejected).

His contradictory relationship with the ocean seems to be a personality quirk more than anything: Solomon is fascinated by the ocean, but the ocean doesn't always treat Solomon nicely.

He's an interesting oddball, to be sure. I just wish we actually got more of a peek into his background in S3, particularly because a good portion of it was dedicated to us getting into the Sorcerer's Society -- which he founded and has a history with.

Why? Satan embodies all that I’m attracted to IRL, he loves cats, reading and knowledge, is a little nerdy, but still incredibly attractive. He’s also mature, but has a bit of a mischevious streak to keep things fun.

Comfort or 2nd Fave Character: Solomon

Why? Solomon originally made me laugh with his kind of “asshole-ish” behavior, but as I played the game more I realized he was a serious, passionate character, a lot like Satan but different. I adore him and he’s definitely my comfort character.

Least Favorite Character: Mammon/Diavolo

Why? Tbh, I don’t mind Mammon all the time, but he’s very needy and I’m not into the tsundere attitude. He’s incredibly sweet at times but for the most part I feel like he’s a possessive little kid. (Don’t kill me, I know he’s well loved in the fandom! I don’t hate him!) And Diavolo, I also don’t hate but he definitely seems to have stunted emotional maturity at times and while it can be incredibly endearing, at other times it’s annoying.

Favorite Event: This is rough because I love the events, but it’s probably a tie between the wedding event and the cherry blossoms event. I’m not entirely caught up on the events though.

Things you dislike about the game: Nightmare! I have the worst luck and I wish there was a pity system. Also, for UR Event cards, the amount you need is so much. I know it’s the point of the game but I wish the cards were easier to get sometimes.

So I'm going to make a semi rant post:

Obey Me. Has so much potential. But they really don't get... HOW we feel. I don't even like Satan. But I realize it's because he comes off as rude and stiff in the story. The devilgram stories though, give him depth. That's dumb. That needs to be in the actual story. For all of them. They need real depth to their characters, not shallow throwaway gags of "haha Levi likes Ruri, Satan likes books and NOTHING ELSE ABOUT HIM IS INTERESTING AND HE DOESN'T EXIST BEYOND HE LIKES BOOKS AND DON'T PISS HIM OFF, Lucifer is always cranky and overbearing, Asmo likes to fuck people and that's it, Beel just eats and Belphegor just sleeps. That's it, that's them. That's their depth." FALSE. I just unlocked the Devilgram story "The Search for Self" with Satan. We go to an art gallery and he is talking about art and reflecting on improving who you are inside. THAT'S DEEP. It shows he is actually a very careful, calculating person. He is intellectual, and finds ways to improve himself, and this contributes to him always keeping his wrath calm. It's more than "I read books", it's "I care very deeply about finding all the facts, about self-improvement, about appreciating things for the depth they have, considering all angles and possibilities. I like the stories that art and books tell, I like to THINK. I am not unfeeling however. I appreciate the FEELINGS they give me as well."

And that's great. I actually am learning to appreciate Satan now.

I probably never would have, had I gone strictly off the main storyline.

First complaint. Give the characters actual depth and development in the story.

Second complaint, the dialogue OPTIONS.

Satan explains this art piece and the ONLY option we get is "Ah, okay." Essentially a lackluster "oh. Those were words you said. I didn't understand or care, me dumb."

Fuck that.

Give me the dialogue options of "I'm not sure I understand", "That sounds really cool!" "What a thoughtful piece, I can see the passion they put into making this!"

The two options were "....And?" "The story flows well so far." And if you select "and" he says "wait does this mean I can kiss you?" First off, that's not in character for Levi. Assuming he is allowed to make advances. He's too self concious and self deprecating for that. Second, it sounds rude.

It sounds like "ok, you like me. What's your point?"

And how does he even hear that "what's your point?" As "oh you like me? So, what are you gonna do about it? You gonna kiss me or something?" And even if that is what the dialogue option meant, IT STILL COMES OFF AS STANDOFFISH. WHICH I HATE. Listen, just because Levi doesn't like himself and think he doesn't deserve love, does not mean that WE think he doesn't deserve love and are lackluster in giving it to him.

Let me tell my poor self deprecating boy how much I adore and appreciate him. How much he makes me want to hug him and kiss his nose and his cheeks and watch ALL the anime with him and go to fan events and couple cosplay and that he is cute, handsome, silly, smart, and I want to be with him always.

(Granted, at the end of that devilgram, he says the script he's writing is dumb and you offer up "Why can't we be together forever?" Which is you admitting that you want to be with him but AGAIN, it's lackluster. It's the delivery that sucks. Change the fialogue to "I don't think it's dumb. I want to be with you forever" and suddenly, that's more romantic. Like I am actively pursuing him.

This is what I mean when I say the dialogue options suck. Don't get me wrong, some of the sassy ones are funny. Yes. But for the romance ones, stop giving us half assed ones. The sassy is funny for rejection. For trolling. But not for the romance options. You talked like that to someone in real life who actually liked you and you'd be called an asshole or a bitch. The romance dialogue options need to go all in. Love isn't a joke.)

Third, WHY IS THAT OUR LACKLUSTER TAKE ON IT? WHY ARE YOU NOT GIVING ME THE DIALOGUE OPTION "I'm so glad to hear that! I'm crazy about you too!"

Quit making it feel lik our only options are "oh ok" and "ew gross".

Give us the options we all genuinely want which is "let me pour my love and affection onto you I adore you so much oh my god you are so precious yes you are wonderful I love you so much"
