I feel so powerfully having done my French homework for once.

good news: i’ll be a coauthor on a paper and thus have a publication before i submit grad school applications

mediocre news: it wont be my project’s paper

#(by every weekend i mean like 7 days a week sitch)#a bit ago i was literally complaining about how its frustrating i wont publish before i have to apply to phd programs #and then like two hrs later my PI pulled me into his office and was like if you take care of these revision experiments u can be on paper #(mediocre news meaning that the paper i get out before applications wont be for the project that im actually spearheading)#the other reason im super busy is that i was volunteered to do two important talks #which also is awesome but now i need to put those together #i still get presentation anxiety but i used to be awful presenter and now apparently ive improved enough to get volun-told to speak #so its all good busy!

tomorrow is my last day of having to do work for my classes and I’m just soooo ready for this upcoming break. I wanna write for an entire day at a time again and learn how to crotchet without putting so many expectations to be perfect the first time again!!!! I wanna paint and play my switch and just lay down without feeling guilty!!!!! I need it!!!!!!!

somehow, beyond all human comprehension, circumstances and health be damned, i successfully submitted my first complete, on time project sekai design entry! i present to you… dashing daisy!

#project sekai #proseka #kaito #more more jump #プロセカ #it probably seems like me making a big deal out of nothing but I’ve tried hard at this contest for maybe a year maybe more or less #I’ve always failed #I have wips and sketches of lots of contests going back months that I couldn’t bring myself to. finish but are worth keeping for later #i love all my designs a lot but the art and the hard work takes a toll on me #often I do one big last push for the deadline and am unable to finish due to my poor health or almost passing out from tiredness lol #it’s a lot #and there’s more I could’ve done with this but I kept the shading anatomy drawing etc to a minimum so I could succeed #I also had a freak incident where I stayed up for like 40 hours #my body was like jelly and random still images and part of my art started moving but I was somehow ok to finish and post #like two hours early #which is insane #anyway it’s scuffed but I tried really hard to get across the presentation and what this concept means to me #I wrote a whole thing on twitter about the inspirations and stuff #think early 2010s idol stage costumes and also my love of 1960s retropop and Showa retro in general #if this wins which it probably won’t but if it does #I also partly wanted it so boys have more cute things to wear with idol style mvs and stages #and so kaito has more matching outfits for mmj #and so you can make any character a True Idol #my suggested mvs are dream place tenshi no clover and journey 3d #anyway kaito the world my final message goodbye #mmj #I like the double meaning of dashing as princely and handsome but also running #kinda like how every akb48 mv starts with idols running #you know it’s gonna be iconic when the center is running as the mv is about to start #imagine him running with his golden mic and stepping onto stage…uwa

Crafting update/crafting forecast! Short term: - I’ve made more progress on the floral crumb quilt (super fun, but going to take a while) - I’m going to embroider “fleece navidad” next to that tiny embroidered alpaca and turn it into an ornament - I’m going to crochet a tiny rainbow stegosaurus! That’ll probably be this afternoon - probably another Halloween something? - probably more embroidered flowers Longer term (aka holiday crafting): - a chicken - a binosaur - a dinosaur (yes those are two separate projects) - something octonauts themed?????? - something for my nieces (no idea what though) - minecraft quilt (for the kidlet I used to babysit! :D) - oh I might make my nieces beanies!! one a unicorn and one a cat - a crocodile - either a griffin, a cockatrice, or a cat in a fancy outfit. I have not decided yet - necklace chains for some pendants - four memory teddy bears Even longer term (aka stuff for the MTH charity auction, which has bidding next week): - another crocodile (this one will be crocodile Loki) - a Bucky Bear or Winter Soldier Bear - possibly more! I added tiers this year so I might make up to two plushies for each of three auctions (the first Jeff the Land Shark is already done)

honestly I love, love, love that Octopath II keeps the wild variation between different character stories, I completed one of Temenos and one of Ochette's chapters back-to-back bc they were in the same town, and the amount of tonal dissonance is crazy bc Temenos's story is far more serious and somber, while Ochette's is wild and unrestrained fun, but I love it so much. Bunch of weirdos hanging out together helping each other out despite being on polar opposites of the story tone spectrum

#also I'm...getting the feeling there is far more than four chapters per character for this game #honestly everything feels like there so much more and it's great #I always had this nagging feeling that the original Octopath was incomplete #like the dev team ran out of production time for some things but still wrapped up the project w/ enough polish to call it finished #but like the fact that only two final bosses had in-battle dialogue and only one was voiced #like sure not all of the final bosses would have had dialogue but it's weird that more of them didn't #also Kit's entire side story felt like it could have been an entire set of four ''united'' chapters where all the characters work together #which would explain why Galdera's battle sprite is insane amounts of detailed if he was intended to be the ACTUAL final boss for the game #I mean I have no proof of any of this it's just more...the feeling I get bc of some elements feeling incomplete or like #''we don't have time to finish this so let's just polish it up so it's at least presentable and still plays well'' kinda feeling #if that makes sense #ANYHOW #I'm really glad to see how much more Octo II is able to do like #there's just so much stuff but in a good way #oracle of lore

I've been at this office job for less than 2 weeks and I was already developing beef with the HR team, and now I've learnt that my whole team has beef with them

We had a team meeting and my boss gave me a task, my coworker went "isn't that something HR should do and should have already done?", to which my boss replied "Yes but I need it done well and soon so we're doing it ourselves"

Lmao get wrecked HR, the grad that's just started is better trusted to do good work than you are

#and i can't just say it's them being overworked and understaffed or anything #I've already proofread two documents from them and they had so many errors #and the HR grad that started the same time as me told me yesterday he still hasn't done anything???#bro I've proofread HR's two big external documents proofread three internal company newsletters #collated a draft table of contacts for every person involved in this one company projects #have gone through all the project photo folders to shortlist photos for a rolling presentation at an upcoming major company event #and documented which projects have no photos or only outdated photos #am halfway through putting together the draft rolling presentation #and drafted a few social media posts for the social media coordinator to have a look at #i didn't even get access to our internal documents for the first 4 days of my job due to an IT issue #oh AND i did a mini-photoshoot with someone in the company who's having a short article posted about them #that's enough talking in the tags methinks. sent post.#ramblings of a bystander
