My mom's got cancer (her treatment will ensure the tumours more or less remain in stasis - she's stable and okay) and she meets many women in the similar positions.

She met a woman. Bit older than herself and with a more aggressive type of cancer. They chatted and she told my mom about her husband and two adult sons who do nothing for her.

She still does all the domestic labour and grocery shopping. She still has to cook. If she comes home from her cancer treatment and is too ill and tired to cook, she ends up eating leftover bread. They won't even heat soup for her.

And she talked to my mom, all worried. Because her doctor told her to eat healthier, and she doesn't know how to manage that on top of everything else.

And this is such a common story. In practice, those marriage vows are for the wives only.

what I was talking abt earlier. we have fully looped back around and away from feminism, societally, whereas before it was very Feminism 101 to acknowledge that many parts of existing as a woman in a misogynistic society are painful and upsetting. not that being a woman is Inherently Negative in a bubble. but that living on this earth, in the conditions we're living in, is hostile to women. and that gender is a performance. that many of the Staples Of Femininity as accepted by society are things that you have to create and perform and mold artificially and aren't inherent, that COMPLAINING about day to day difficulties of existing as a woman is something that you're allowed to do. acknowledging these basic, again, feminism 101 things, that something tied to womanhood is more time consuming or more expensive or more dangerous Because Of The Problems. does not CREATE the problems. that when women complain about having to perform femininity, they are not, in fact, oppressing themselves. the call does not come from inside the fucking house. saying that you HAVE suffered does not fucking equate that you believe you SHOULD have suffered.

I guess any negative experiences you have by living in a misogynistic world... are your fault if you are anything but positive? I am pretty fucking sure they are very much aware of pain, and are MORE than aware of the swirling torrent of misogyny and standards of femininity than anybody else. actually. and I am pretty sure someone complaining on tumblr that being a woman means always putting on a performance is going to make someone change their mind about transitioning. also "performing femininity" as a necessity to being treated well as a woman is not fucking NEWS to your Local Trans Woman. I honestly can’t imagine how horrifying this whole experience must have been for Anin. Like imagine coming back to your home after years of being abroad; your best friend—who you’ve been in love with since you were a child—is being courted by hordes of men. You confess to her once more, tell her in the utmost clear terms how much you love her, the extent to which she plagues your every waking thought, the unwavering devotion you feel to her. All that you ask in return is to know if you are the person who brings her joy and aches her heart in all the right ways. She hesitates, gives you a non-answer and finally, you reserve yourself to the thought that the girl you are hopelessly in love with, the one you’ve spent most of your life yearning for does not in fact yearn for you the same.

Dream's stage presence during the TWWTH tour was great, and frankly a lot more than I expected from a guy with little to no experience with live performances. I had no doubt he'd be good at it, but he truly blew me away. And the fact he was able to pull it off so soon after a major surgery that left him unable to walk on his own? Absolutely incredible

I really hope he decides to do another tour in the future, it would be awesome to see how well he could command an audience now that he has a better idea of what he's doing/doesn't have to rehearse through a recovery period
