last semester i wasn’t doing well in a very important class i needed to pass in order to graduate so i was working my ass off writing essays and shit and every time i started slacking i would bring up this image and i’d say “ah fuck you’re right vash i really need to keep working” and then i’d write for another two hours and i actually managed to pass and graduate and i honestly don’t know if i would’ve been able to without this picture. thank you vash

This is sad but unfortunately I think this is just going to be the norm for the next few years as streaming services die a slow death.

HBO Max should in theory be able to make money from a show that was at one point the top new series in the US. At the time, David Jenkins said "This is what happens when a major media company invests in inclusive mainstream stories" (agree!) but unfortunately that major media company, like all streaming services, has a terrible business model that can't support that investment.

This is an interesting article about how streaming services are losing money and scrambling to make it back by trying to convince people to buy cheaper, ad-supported options or bundling with other streaming services. Unfortunately for them, I think that's like... all of the options? At some point they're just going to continue to lose money. Making shows is expensive and very few consumers are willing to pay more when they could just cancel and use a cheaper service (or, you know. 🏴‍☠️)

This is also a good article that was written after Shadow and Bone was cancelled by Netflix about whether it could be saved:

"The problem is that while saving shows used to be plausible, at times, the cost of Shadow and Bone combined with the fact that streaming services are really, really starting to cut back on spending means that this would be an extremely tough sell. WB Discovery’s Max is being lambasted for killing finished projects for tax breaks to chip into its massive debt. Disney Plus has done the same thing and has said they will cut back on things like expensive Marvel shows. Amazon Prime is mired in expensive creator deals going nowhere and throwing insane amounts of money at projects they are realizing are not panning out. Paramount Plus losing $500 million a year. NBC’s Peacock is losing $650 million a quarter."

TLDR; Streaming services have reached such a dire point financially that they have to cancel some of their most popular content (Marvel shows on Disney+???? These have seemingly been very successful; it's wild to read that they're "cutting back") in the desperate hope that a new season of something that's cheaper to make will get more attention.

What I gathered from these articles is that steaming services are dying a slow death and sadly, a lot of good shows are going to go with them.

I just finished watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. I thought it was fantastic, though I have one☝️ complaint...

It is CRIMINAL that the Gaang never addressed/discovered Appas fear of fire. 😤

Poor Appa was sold to a fire nation circus where he was abused and whipped with fire and forced to preform which made him scared of fire. Azula even ADDRESSES THIS FEAR. "Ah, afraid of fire now, are we?" SO ITS A LEGIT FORMED FEAR. BUT ITS NEVER BROUGHT UP OR DISCOVERED BY THE GAANG?? EVEN THOUGH SUKI WAS THERE AND WOULD KNOW ABOUT HIS FEAR TOO???

How a sky bison gonna fight the fire nation IF HE'S SCARED OF FIRE? They TOTALLY should have addressed that. it could have been a bonding moment between Toph, Aang and Appa and everything!😭😭😭😭

HOW SWEET WOULD IT HAVE BEEN IF THE GAANG FIGURED OUT WHAT HE'S BEEN THROUGH BY THE BURN SCARS ON HIS PAWS, THE HOLES IN HIS BACK/SHOULDERS/HEAD/FACE, THE WEIGHT HE LOST AND THE STRAINED MUSCLES AND HAD A WHOLE EPISODE PAMPERING APPA AND TENDING TO HIS INGURIES?? 😭😭

Especially since at this point he'd been missing for like 4 weeks by this point?? Making an episode where everyone has a special reunion moment with Appa and showing the Gaang helping Appa physically and mentally recover from EVERYTHING he's been through would have been the best. 😔😔😔 Would have been my favorite episode by FAR.

I would LOVE to draw a comic about this myself but that would be a TON of work and research to make sure I write everyone's characters correctly and have the timeline of events all line upppp... and I could write it but the truth is I'm a lousy fic writer and I don't think it would come out the way I wanttttt 😩😩😩

Hopefully I can find a fix-it fic for this particular issue or the post war comics will surprise me with its Appa content 👀👀👀

can i just say. and this is probably a niche hill to die on. that i am so gobsmacked every time someone vaguely hints at the idea that jotaro doesn't care meaningfully for the other crusaders, usually particularly kakyoin and joseph, when those two actually tend to be the ones he reacts to being hurt the hardest

like he cares for his loved ones!!!! that literally plays into his character motives in every single part he shows up in!!! stop lying to me!!!!!!!

In order to turn a very embarrassing moment of my life into something funny have this stupid Timbern au:

The Drakes are alive so Tim is still on track for being the heir of D.I. but is interning at W.E. for the summer because Bruce offered a position

Bernard has been interning at W.E. as well, for volunteering hours

The both work in a small, newer branch of W.E. that focuses on cultivating more information about Gotham’s history

Bernard’s there because it's the most teen focused thing and Tim’s there because he wants to figure where exactly the Lazarus pit is under Gotham so he can mess with Ra’s

They are currently stationed at an old house that was made into a museum which is managed by Wayne Enterprises, but since most of it is a museum there are only a few rooms to actually work, however it being a teen thing it’s very much choose your own hours so that prevents too many people from being there at once

Tim, who doesn’t want someone to come in a see the fact that he’s already finished cataloging all of the 2023 Donations to the museum and is instead using the time to further research the numerous curses in Gotham and/or watch Demon Slayer, is very happy about this fact and only comes at either the earliest or latest times so he gets a room to himself and only has to pretend to be going through boxes when someone checks on him

Bernard immediately messes up Tim’s plan

He’s always there- morning, night, even when Tim changes up his schedule

And no matter how many how many empty rooms there might be he always finds Tim and sits with him, even the time Tim tried to hide in the attic under the guise of organizing a couple boxes up there

Being the paranoid idiot that he is Tim assume that Bernard is a from the League of Assassins and enacts a 46-step plan to figure out what he’s planning (read: stalks him) and in the course of it ends up falling in love

Meanwhile on Bernard’s side, the first week of the internship he walked into the room Tim was in and wanted to be friends with the cute boy

The reason that he kept finding Tim was that he was talking to Dick Grayson, his gymnastics instructor, and Dick had realized that the boy in question was his honorary little brother and told Bernard that “Timmy’s shy, you just have to break down his walls to get to know him” and tells him when Tim’s going to the museum

Dick is well aware of what Tim thinks the situation is because he’s the one Tim rants to, but he thinks it’s funny and will make for a great story to tell at their wedding

Every "killing the rat grinders is so against the theme of the season" fan has been awfully quiet lately!!!

It's almost like it was always completely reasonable for the Bad Kids to treat the rat grinders as enemies that had to be taken out in the midst of this boss fight knowing that they (or any of their allies) would have the capacity to bring them back in the same way that they brought Ragh back all those years ago. It's almost like these actors and their characters have shown time and time again that they have an intense capacity for compassion and forgiveness even when pushed to their absolute limits!!!! It's almost like the world of Spyre (and DnD as a whole) is full of magic in a way that our real world is not and therefore the ethics of a situation should really be considered by different standards.
