fun detail I only put into context after seeing the post-fade jail romance scenes with all the companions: lucanis is the only one where rook is surprised when they realize he's there as he starts talking, because they didn't hear him come in haha. (Bellara and Neve knock before entering, like relatively normal people fhsda. Harding's scene starts in medias res but from the staging my vibe is that she and Rook entered the room together. Taash walks into the room ahead of Rook. Davrin comes in through a door left open for him -- Rook is standing with their back turned but they clearly expected him, they just smile a bit and don't seem surprised. Emmrich of course takes you to the Grand Necropolis for the top goth hookup since Mary Shelly fucked on her parents' graves, the man quite simply never misses.)

lucanis has also closed the door behind him without rook noticing. old assassin habits die hard I suppose lol. he totally still accidentally jumpscares the others without meaning to all the time because he moves around quietly when he doesn't think about it, I know this in my heart. I wonder if he was just... looking at them for a while before he spoke up.

there are some issues with iwtv s2 but i don't think it's fair to blame the show when so much of the fandom refuses to engage with what's on the screen. the bizarre insistence that louis never loved armand (🙄) or that armand is only thinking of daniel (😵‍💫) or that lestat always loved claudia (😂) - none of these are true and that's obvious if you listen to what characters say and watch what they do. the writing and directing and editing negate all of these takes but no let's just pretend shit isn't happening b/c OTP and endgame or something.

also half this fandom admits only "watching" iwtv via gifs and memes - of the course the discourse is fucked. we're not even talking about the same show anymore.

You know that annoying/ableist thing people do where they say that conservatives or bigots or assholes must have some disability or mental illness? E.g. "Those Trump supporters are all psychotic!" or "Racists are all brain damaged!"

I've found imho a pretty effective script for countering that without potentially Causing A Scene or getting someone mad at you:

Scoff lightly and say "Psychotic people deserve better than that comparison."

Also works for other stuff like "brain damaged" and "mentally ill" etc.

As long as you say it like you're joking with them, instead of like you're telling them off, I find it's pretty successful at getting people to go "Oh, hah, true" (tho sometimes a bit awkwardly) and then either self-correct or move on with the conversation.

idk I guess I'm tired of this attitude that if you're not constantly reading 9,000 page books or publicly critically analyzing the shows you're watching with huge essays, it means you don't actually engage deeply with material or you're somehow vapid and something something "consume product"

like man, stuff exists besides Media To Consume. Art is great and it's awesome. It's very cool to read books and like TV shows and movies. And not all of those need to be fuckin Citizen Kane. But it's awesome to like intense stuff too. But like yeah. You gotta have other stuff you do. I have lots of other stuff I do! Sometimes I don't even post on the internet about it!

So when I come online and post a bunch of Transformers or Gundam screencaps of some beautiful boy with the caption GOD I HATE HIS FUCKING FACE I'M GONNA CHEW HIS SKIN OFF GRRRR I AM SO IN LOVE it doesn't actually mean I don't have deeper thoughts than that. I'm just posting because I'm in my 30s and work 40 hours a week and just wanna watch a fun cartoon sometimes man.

For me I think (the problem is) its not about ladies only - its about the distinction between genders and about only reading/enjoying stuff you're attracted to??? Which is the reasoning i most see

And that's fine if that's what someone is reading for but that isn't the case for me - I'm reading for a story and I want equal representation

(basically i don't want special treatment for any one gender bc of some mysterious ick with whumping the other)

(this is also incredibly dependent on the type of story, like. if you're writing a sapphic story then obviously it'd be mainly about women. gay story? same. but you know what. there are allowed to be mixed genders and nonconforming genders and no genders at all and things are allowed to happen them too... just saying XD)
