HELLOOOO !!!!! I met you through the AU where Luigi escapes, And honestly, what an incredible Au!!! You have so much talent!!
But I wanted to clear up a stupid little doubt , I don't know if you've ever thought about this, but how old would these characters be? (I believe they are your OCs )
You know, I haven't actually thought about their ages, so lets figure it out using the ✨️Power of Overthinking✨️
According to the film, it seems like the type of shell indicates the rank, with blue with spines being the highest and smooth green being the lowest (red and pink could be somewhere in the middle).
Cooper is a green shell promoted to green shell paratroopa, so assuming Bowser doesn't yoink his citizens to join his army at a young age, Cooper, being just a prison guard and not exactly a soldier, would be ranked as someone ranking higher than a novice or rookie (or whatever terms properly fit someone who isnt new, but not combat ready), so he'd be in his mid 20s. I know I said Cooper was the Koopa from the beginning of the film who was shaking inside his shell. So if I declare him to not be combat ready, then why the spear? That's easy. Intimidation. Because Bowser and Kamek didn't even NEED the army.
Felicity was one of the Shy Guys who was out on patrol when she and her other lackies found Luigi alone in the Darklands, making her some sort of scout. So she's probably in her early 20's. Maybe...Chances are Cooper and Felicity are in a similar category perhaps? And of course they'd know each other and hang out a lot. If Felicity catches prisoners, she probably sees Cooper pretty often when turning them in.
Doug is a fun one to figure out. Remember the Koopa who gets burned by Bowser after asking a dumb question? That's him. And if you remember that scene, he was holding a spear, which means this boy KNOWS how to fight, making him older than Cooper and Felicity since he's a soldier. Hes probably a little older than Cooper by a pinch. But he is a gentle soul. I mean, he straight up asks Bowser a question that could get him killed. He has seen too much to like being in the army. And in the comic, he gets locked up afterwards, uses his bones to pick the lock and sneak behind Luigi, Lumalee, and KP (I ran out of pages to post, which is why I didn't draw that scene TT-TT), doesn't rat them out after his head gets stolen, but has to put on a facade once Felicity and Cooper get involved, even gave KP one of his bones so that he doesn't hurt himself while his foot gets cut off, and even gives Cooper advice on how to get his wings to not tickle his shell! Doug fans are gonna like this next update hehehehehe.
So to paraphrase, They're all in their 20s, Doug is the oldest while Felicity is the youngest

You know what really pisses me off…people (mainly men) on tiktok that complain about women only getting into shows for hot male characters.
Like specifically Jjk, they be so salty and mad when people be simping for Gojo, Geto, Toji, or Nanami. But they literally have been doing that exact same thing with female characters since forever. These are the same people who actually over sexualize characters too and don’t see that character for anything but their looks. Like you can’t scroll on twitter without seeing literal porn of female characters if you’re on the art side of twitter. Then don’t get me started on how a lot of these characters be literal children. I mean they don’t even try to age up the characters either, they literally draw them exactly how they look as a child or teenager. Not saying that if they did age them up it would be any better, just pointing out a simple fact.
That’s why I’m so happy jjk exists. We need more shows without all that unnecessary fan service of panty shots, or female characters being groped and it being written off as a joke. This is why I barely watch any anime but a select few. It’s probably why aot and jjk are my top favorites. We need more good fan service of male characters being hot by showing off how cool they are or how strong they are.
I know the reason why I simp for Gojo is because of his personality, it’s really attractive. I love the way he acts and I’m always geeked when he’s on screen. Same way with other characters like Geto. And ofc I like them because they’re hot, like that’s an obvious given. Same way with aot. I like eren because of his attitude. I’ve always liked him even before he was cold and yes I can say this because when I first started watching aot I was 12 or 13 years old the same age or younger than eren when he was a scout. Also yes I’m someone who understands the depth of these characters too, which a lot of men fail to do with female characters.
I really wish we had more shows just like aot or jjk. Maybe I’m not looking hard enough but I love shows when the fandom has a lot women in them. It’s such a fun experience.

Braiding
Read on AO3
“Why did I agree to this?”
“Beats me!” Eiffel said with a smile. “But you did!”
Minkowski groaned. “I regret it already.” It was her room. This was probably against some protocol or another, something about keeping professional relationships professional.
Eiffel chuckled, patting the space in front of him and crossing his legs. “Come on, Rapunzel.”
“Maybe I should just shave it all off.”
He laughed. “And you call me dramatic. Trust me, I’m actually not bad at this. Scout’s honour.”
She huffed, but sat in front of him.
“That’s the spirit!”
Minkowski turned to glare at him, but he only grinned back.
At least if he messed up her hair, she could do the same right back.
The first touch of his fingers untangling her hair made her jump. How long had it been since someone had touched her? It must have been longer than she’d thought.
Eiffel gently worked out the larger knots with his fingers, noting how she shivered at the touch. He understood that feeling. Instead of commenting, he grabbed the brush, carefully running it through her hair and smoothing it out.
Okay, so it felt really nice to have someone brush her hair. “You are good at this.”
Eiffel smiled. “No need to sound so surprised.” He paused. “Okay, maybe there’s a little reason.”
Minkowski smirked. She’d softened on her Communications Officer over the last few months. Started letting his jokes get to her, teasing him back on occasion. She wouldn’t say it out loud, but… they felt like friends, now.
That was a nice feeling.
He put the brush down next to them and started gathering her hair into one long strand. Unfortunately for her, doing so meant that his nails brushed the back of her neck, drawing out a twitch and a gasp and oh right, she was ticklish there.
And she’s just allowed her friend and head of mischief full access. Great.
“You okay?” Eiffel asked, his hands stilling.
Minkowski cleared her throat. “Fine, fine.”
“If you say so.” He shrugged, going back to his task.
The second time he accidentally touched her neck, Eiffel started to get suspicious. He could understand once, it was a surprise. But why did she flinch again?
The third time was a test. He let his fingers wiggle a little as they passed just above her shoulder, and yep, that was definitely a muffled squeal.
He grinned. So Commander Badass was ticklish. Cute.
Shit. He knew. He definitely knew what he was doing, because he started doing it more. Every overlapping strand of hair was accompanied with a fingertip trailing across her neck and making her squirm or hiccup or squeak, smiling wider with every attempt. She should stop him.
She should stop him.
A finger wiggled playfully just under her jaw, and she barely muffled a snort behind one hand, twitching forward instinctively and grinning like crazy.
Eiffel chuckled. “Hey, I can’t work if you’re all the way over there.” He teased, but didn’t follow. He had a feeling that if he pushed too hard she’d put a stop to this, and that was the last thing he wanted. This was fun.
It was very tempting to curl up into a ball or run away. Minkowski knew she was smiling, surprised to find how relaxed she felt beyond that giddy tension. She leaned back, fighting not to scrunch up her shoulders.
In the interest of not getting his ass kicked, Eiffel didn’t tease. Much. He sang a quick, “Thank you!” and went right back to braiding. And maybe sneaking in a quick tickle every few seconds. Hey, it wasn’t like she was stopping him.
It was really hard not to scrunch up her neck, but she managed. Just about. She wrapped one arm around her middle and scrunched her eyes closed, struggling not to laugh. This was- it was silly, and yeah, normally that was something she was categorically against, but…
Okay, fine, she was kind of having fun.
Nails scratched just under her ear, drawing out a hicuppy laugh and making her crush the other hand over her mouth. Eiffel laughed silently.
“Umm, what are you doing?”
“Oh, hey Hera.” Eiffel said, looking up at the nearest camera. “We’re having a bit of a slumber party; the Commander’s hair was getting kind of out of control.”
“No, not that, I mean-” His fingers danced over the side of her neck, and she flinched. “That! What is that?”
Minkowski cringed. Really? She couldn’t even respond without laughing right now. Did Hera seriously not get it?
Eiffel chuckled and did it again, noting that her ears had gotten flushed. “What? My hand just slipped.”
Hera groaned. “You’re doing something! Tell me!”
He winked at the camera. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, I’m not doing aaaanything. Right, Commander?”
“Mm-hm!” She managed to squeak, face burning.
Hera huffed, and Eiffel mouthed, “Later.” At the camera. He felt a little bad for leaving her in the dark, but hey, he was almost done.
“Aaaand, done!” He neatly tied up the end of the braid, and because he might never get the chance again, playfully wiggled the end of it against her neck.
There was a loud squeak, and the next thing he knew, his commanding officer had flopped over sideways, both hands smushed over her face and her shoulders locked around her ears. Eiffel chuckled. “You okay there?”
Minkowski glowered at him between her fingers, grateful that her giddy smile was thoroughly hidden.
Hera laughed. At least they were having fun. “Seriously, what’s going on?”
Eiffel smirked. “Well-”
He was cut off by a gentle punch in the arm. Minkowski sat up, still grinning, with a sly spark in her eye and the brush in her hand. “Your turn.”
Oh crap. He laughed nervously. “You don’t have to do that, it’s all good.”
She shifted back and crossed her legs, patting the spot in front of her. “I insist.”
He was so dead.
Cautiously, Eiffel sat down, already half turtled and biting down nervous giggles. He jumped when the brush was dragged through his messy hair.
Then she dropped the brush and dug her fingers into his ribs, making him shriek loudly and fold in half like a cheap lawn chair.
Minkowski grinned, vibrating her fingers into his ribcage. “You okay there?” She asked, amused by his wild cackling.
Huh. Now that she thought of it, she wasn’t sure she’d heard him properly laugh before. Weird, for such an upbeat person. He was certainly laughing now, snorting and cackling and squealing in a way that maybe she should have found obnoxious.
Eiffel kicked his feet and squirmed frantically, trying very hard not to wriggle out of Minkowski’s evil grip while laughing his head off. It was hard; she was unsurprisingly ruthless. “Mercy!” He squealed, twisting ineffectively. “Mehehercy!”
Minkowski rolled her eyes at his dramatics, letting one hand drift to squeeze at his stomach, drawing out a series of snorts. “Weren’t you just telling Hera what’s happening?”
“Noooo!” He whined, curling up as best he could.
Short nails scratched at his neck, and he burst into giggles, shoulders scrunching. “Oh, I think you were.” She teased.
Eiffel felt like he was melting. This was so unfair; he hadn’t been even half this mean! He slapped at her hands weakly, slumping forwards and laughing helplessly.
Minkowski chuckled, worming her hands under his arms and earning a shriek. “Well?”
“Yes, I’m not entirely sure what’s so funny right now.” Hera said, sounding a little smug.
Eiffel wheezed, his smile wide and helpless. Minkowski seemed to notice his need for air and eased off a little, fingers playing gently at his ribs and keeping him jumpy. He couldn’t stop giggling. This was the most fun he’d ever had on the Hephaestus.
He was certainly taking his time catching his breath. She scratched gently at his stomach, and Eiffel yelped and flopped over onto his front. “Okay! Okahahay! It- it tickles, plehehease!”
“Ohhhh, I see!” Hera said teasingly.
Minkowski mercifully retracted her hands. “Why didn’t you say so?”
He wanted to swear at her but was too busy giggling his head off. His limbs had gone all floppy and his brain was pleasantly fuzzy from laughing so much. A hand brushed his hair back and he flinched violently.
Minkowski chuckled. “It’s okay, you’re done.” She said, going back to his hair. “But someone has to do something about this rat’s nest.”
Oh. He relaxed. Should probably get up to make this easier, but he was very comfortable in this boneless, giddy state, and Minkowski was only making it worse by gently brushing his hair. It was calming. He wasn’t going to get up unless someone made him.
It was certainly a lot faster to braid someone’s hair when you weren’t also tickling them to death, Minkowski reflected with a soft smile. Eiffel seemed to have given up on being a human being for now and decided his time was better spent as a jellyfish. It was kind of nice, seeing him this happy.
“All done!” She said, and because she was feeling evil, brushed the end of the braid around his neck, earning a giggly squeal and getting him to squirm onto his back.
Eiffel glared playfully, still grinning. “You’re ruthless.”
She shrugged. “Eh, we already knew that.”
He chuckled and sat up. “Remind me never to get on your bad side.”
“I have tried.” She said with a smirk. “Yet somehow you always wind up there.”
“At what point do you admit that you don’t have a good side?”
She punched him gently in the shoulder, and Eiffel grinned. He was sort of tempted to poke at her, try to figure out if she had other weak spots. Another part of him didn’t want to push the line. It was nice being able to have little hair braiding parties that left them both smiling and a little giggly. The last thing he wanted was to ruin it.
Minkowski ran her braid through her hand. Huh. “You actually did a good job.”
Eiffel put a hand over his heart. “Commander. That was almost a compliment!”
She rolled her eyes. “It took you long enough.”
“All part of the process.” He grinned. “Happy to help out any time.”
The thought had that giddy feeling in her stomach resurfacing and her lips twitching. She bit the inside of her lip. “I’ll keep you posted.”
Eiffel tried to hide his surprise, but nothing would keep the massive grin from forming. “Great.”
It was great. It really was.
Maybe next time, he’d figure out her other weak spots.

I have been thinking nonstop about how tf2 mercs and markiplier egos would interact now 😭
-------
Heavy, squinting down at Dr. Iplier: tiny.... tiny little doctor...? (mark is only taller than engie, maybe the same height as pyro)
------- Medic: Hey if you want I could heal your ey- The Host: NO. Medic: :( why not The Host: It's complicated Medic: Please don't tell me your eye sockets are haunted too... ------- Google: (minding his own buisiness) Engineer, visibly twitching: Hey there. (slowly pulls out screwdriver. casually approaches). Mind if I ask how you were made? ------- Spy has no interest in interacting with anyone until he finds Dark sitting in a corner drinking wine. He sits down next to them, pours himself a glass, and they just silently exchange looks. -------
PYRO AND WILFORD PYRO AND WILFORD OMG Pyro: (drawing rainbows) Wilford: Ha ha! I'm wearing rainbow suspenders!
Pyro: (burning down buildings, setting people on fire) Wilford: This is fine because death isn't real! (shoots someone)
Pyro: Mmph Mmph! Wilford: Unfortunately your subtitles haven't been translated, so ol' Warfstache here doesn't know what you're saying :(
------- Bing and Scout do skateboard tricks together. Both of them attempt a very simple trick and fail it, falling down and scraping their knees. Both insist they are the better skater, the world's best skater even.
-------
Heist Mark pulls out his bombs and his 16th Century flintlock pistol likely used by pirates for boarding actionsTM and Demoman is mildly interested. Heist Mark then proves that he has strangely extensive knowledge about medieval weaponry and Demo is much more interested. Demo pulls out Eyelander and Captain Magnum joins their little group where they all start talking about weapons and bombs.
-------
Engineer: (disappointed after having failed to get permission to take Google apart and put him back together) Head Engineer Mark: Hi there! I heard you're an engineer? I'm an engineer! Engineer: Do you. Build guns. Or robot arms. Head Engineer Mark: I mean I have the Asteroid Defense System turrets..... but actually I build a spaceship and sort of maybe a time travel universe breaking machine? Engineer: So a dangerous device that can destroy the world.... can I see the schematics?
------- I know in my SOUL Ed Edgar and Sniper hate each other but I can't elaborate. Illinois and Sniper have a very casual truce going on but ultimately Sniper does not really wanna hang out with anyone. This of course means the Jims spot him standing off to the side and think he's the perfect intervewee and at least three, maybe four Jims swarm Sniper and shove cameras and microphones inches from his face and he has a terrible time.
-------
Yandere somehow completely enchants Medic's doves and I can't elaborate on this either. Heavy is bemused. As long as Archimedes chooses Medic over Yan he's going to pretend he isn't jealous about the attention his doves are giving her. Scout goes "AWOOGA GIRL?!" and gets stabbed by Yan. Heavy is reminded of his younger sisters and is delighted.
-------
Eric Derekson is terrified of Soldier. The main two off the top of my head who are not put off by Soldier's shouting are King of the Squirrels and Yancy. Soldier corners King and is like "what are you king of?! not america. WHAT COUNTRY IS SQUIRRELS" Scout hears Yancy speak, hears the accent, and immediately throws hands.
-------
I am yap-o-clock-ing in your ask box but I needed to give you the brainrot that you've given me
OH MY GOD IM DRAWING SOME OF THESE I PROMISE YOU . I DONT KNOW WHEN ILL DRAW THEM BUT I BET YOUR ASS THEYLL BE DRAWN. KEEP YAPPING IN MY INBOX.
PLEASE. PLEASE KEEP TALKING.
TF2 x MARK EGOS BRAINROT !!!!!!!!!

I!!! ok ok these were who i was actually originally going to make helsmets for but then i remembered aron was originally a minecraft oc and she Immediately Took The Spotlight bUT I!!!! made some helsmets of the minecraft crew (even tho their helsmets would certainly not be a crew) to fill @silverskye13's sandbox with!!!!! i will ramble!! under cut!!
SO FIREMITE
He was like the first one (maybe second??) that i came up with an idea for, and it was actually the redesigns that did it! i mentioned that he kept his more sculk-y eye and half of his face hidden bc it could freak ppl out and then also i realized that i'd kinda visualized him as a happy ray of sunshine all the time and it perfectly opened the door to! suppression. like if he's perfect beam of sunshine all the time then he's gotta be suppressing/hiding A Lot Of StuffTM, both physically (hiding as much of his warden influence as possible) and emotionally (only showing others his happiness), so i made his helsmet based off that! :V it's also kinda what firemite is afraid to be seen as i think, bc if he saw his helsmet all he would see is what about himself would scare ppl.
Tyratone was my second!! I'm pretty sure! she might've been first. but Tyr looks around at her friend group and sees that everyone else contributes- fire brings up resources from underground, aqua makes connections to other folks to keep them on good terms, and razor keeps the group protected from physical threats. She just.. has her little indoor farm. Collects crops every so often. Mostly keeps her cats alive. Messes around with firemite n tags along with razor to scout out sometmes. Like what does she even do. (She provides for the group but thinks it a task that any of them could do and that she's not really needed, even tho they do all rely on her to keep them going. Any of them *could* step into that role alongside what they do, it's simple enough, but they all appreciate having her around bc she's fun and enjoys simple things, and keeps the group together.) She thinks it only a matter of time before she's kicked out bc she's not really doing much, and so her helsmet is based around proving her worth through what she can do for other people!
Aqua took me a bit to fully realize; i had a vague idea for a while but it was toeing the line of similarity to tyr's and i didn't want repeats, so i sat and thought for a bit. in his original bio, i'd put that he kinda missed only having two ppl in the group, and that he thinks he's the leader but isn't. ok, so throwing these two things together, i can kinda figure that maybe he missed only having two people bc it meant that his opinions carried more weight, because it was only ever up against one other, instead of three others. he gets ideas of what he thinks is best and what he thinks they should do at any given time and the others tend to go with razor's ideas more than his, and it gets to him. he feels like they don't really listen to him at all, which they do and give consideration to his input, but he gets jealous and upset that razor's ideas are gone with more. so his hels is someone that constantly strives to be heard and to be listened to and to be viewed as important! i'm not actually sure if how i ended up implementing that works or not, but that's what i was able to come up with :V (the cane is just to look neat, and also it's netherite so heavy bonking stick as well should he need it sdklfj)
and then razor! razor. good night he gave me trouble. i wanted to draw him so badly and could not for the life of me figure out what his hels would be of. like i knew he'd be a fighter, but like. why would he exist in the first place?? i kinda thought about how i'd designed him and what personality traits i'd given him- he wears a lot of layers, most of his face is covered, long sleeves, it's a kinda closed-off wardrobe. and he's phlegmatic, so he goes with the flow a lot. maybe his thing is that he's doing what he can to keep the group safe, sure, but he also wants to try to stay a little closed-off, so that if he fails one day to keep them safe, it won't hurt as much and would be easier to move on. tossing around the idea that maybe that had happened with folks he was previously with- before he and fire met aqua and tyr, and maybe even before he met fire. not sure yet, (still not entirely certain on his hels concept at all tbh) but that's the fun of being in the middle of developing characters and their stories!! trying stuff out and seeing if it sticks!!
ANYWAY if u read all of that bLESS YOU ilysm these were really fun to figure out and make!!! also cannot believe i hecking. i did all these today, this afternoon/evening dslkfjsdkl i'm going to bed Extremely LateTM but it is worth it!!! i did it!!!! i'm so happy i love them sm qvq ty silver for writing such a cool hecking story that provides so so much inspiration and such a fun world to play around in, this was a fantastic exercise in character development for these four, who just existed as bullet points prior :V
#redstone and skulk#minecraft oc#firemite#tyratone#aquafinity#razormane#hi hello it is me again with more helsmet designs#-helsmit? helsmet?? whichever one lskdfj#all of my rambling is in the readmore this time so no paragraphs of tags!!

@transgender-scout @1ight wait fuck now i have to compile them okay okay okay i have a feeling this is gonna get long so I'm gonna put it under a cut haha but for real thank you for asking!!
First things first! This is how I imagine the flock is able to disguise themselves. There's no going undercover at an actual school for them, but I don't think anyone's looking twice at a bulky coat, especially if it's set in the future. Not too far in the future though, still in the 21st century. I have no ideas for a plot restructuring or anything, I never read past Nevermore and I barely remember anything past the fourth book, so most of my headcanons are character dynamics and such. I do have some that aren't focused on the flock but not many. Anyways.
(also idk if most of this can even be considered headcanon bc its basically fanfic at this point)
A couple things I should've added to the design post are Toto's Total’s nonexistence (I'm sorry if you like him but I do not lmao) and the fact that their hair is feathers. Like those very fine and very long feathers that roosters get. The flock also doesn't develop superpowers.
In my version of things, there's a small town close-ish to the E shaped house. Far enough that no one in town is gonna drop by for a visit, but close enough to fly down to for some groceries, which they'd do after Jeb left and until the money was gone. I think he would've taught them how to forage for things and that's how they get by since then.
Max (21) isn't The Leader TM either, I think leadership is shared more with Fang/Friday and Iggy. She likes volleyball and usually the one to go foraging. She's never thought about it but if she did, she'd probably consider herself agender.
Fang/Friday (22) gets his name from a Friday the 13th DVD cover, Jeb thinks he wants to be called Jason when he first points to it. He used to help Nudge/Dora and Angel with their hair when they were little and still does occasionally. He likes to draw and he's the go-to when someone needs to be comforted. There's no way in hell I would let him be anything less than bisexual.
Iggy (20) is the one that probably hears Friday's voice the most. He was also taught braille and Jeb got them a labeling machine. He's still the best cook and he's very protective over the vinyls/tapes/cds in the house. He mourns the loss of them when they have to flee the house, but he is excited to finally have access to new music. He's also gay. Because I said so.
Nudge/Dora (17) still wishes she could live a normal life, but has accepted that it's just not a possibility. She clings to "Dorothy" when she learns it. Being talkative and into fashion are still part of her character, but now she also loves bugs. She tags along when Max goes foraging so she can try and get pictures of any new bugs she hasn't seen before. Friday often gets to hear which bugs and what they were doing when they're sketching together.
Gazzy/Gizmo (14) gets his name when he watches the Gremlins movie for two months straight and starts mimicking the mogwai noises. He almost kills everyone when he mixes a couple cleaners from under the kitchen sink. He's quickly enamored with the chemistry books he's given afterwards. Like any other teenage boy, he likes video games and has too much energy for his own good. Max offers to race him when he's particularly amped.
Angel (11) is the only one out of the group that wasn't experimented on and she doesn't get the protectiveness or why they never go anywhere. She likes sitcoms and never refuses an offer to forage with Max. She also took a liking to helping Iggy cook things. She was very quick to tell people she wasn't a boy once she had the vocabulary.
Ari (15) has chronic pain. Being turned to goo and rebuilt into something different will do that to you. It doesn't get better the second time. Nor the third. He used to live in the E shaped house, before Jeb brought Gizmo, back when he was a regular kid. He's always liked animals, caring for them. He wanted to be a farmer or something when he grew up. After he joins the flock, he and Gizmo are fast friends. (Watching him and Gizmo dick around is what makes Friday realize that he really is just a kid.)
Maya/Em (21, kinda) my identity issues queen!! Cloning keeps the original memories intact and then they were further messed with to ensure her allegiance. She has a hard time coming to terms with that, with not being Max, not being who she thought she was. Her friends aren't her friends, she didn't watch Gizmo and Angel grow up, she didn't go to Friday after another nightmare, or call Dora to come catch a spider. That wasn't her. Having time away from them before she joins the flock helps. She renames herself Em during that time, distinct enough from Max but not removed from it completely. She learns that she likes cooking and she discovers cheerleading. She thinks she'd like that if she got the chance to participate. She's also aroace. She wants nothing to do with any of that.
Dylan (21) sticks closest to Em, but he eventually grows close to Iggy as well. They share a soaring/gliding wing shape and Iggy is grateful to have someone who can fly as long as he can (recreational flying is always cut short in his opinion, because the others have to work harder to stay airborne and get tired). Dylan likes to tinker around with motors and mechanisms, trying to get them to work again or building them from the ground up. Not that he has an abundance of opportunities to do that, but being able to fix a busted car comes in handy. He's one of them gays that can drive.
Lastly, I do have ideas on Erasers and different classes of them and their usages but jesus christ this did in fact get very long and I need to go eat something lmao so that'll have to be a separate post for another time.
#maximum ride#the last media i have consumed of this book series#was the manga#and like a quarter of a five hour recap video of the plot#and i would like to keep it that way lmao#i only want nostalgia brain maximum ride

Getting into Metroid This Past Month:
I first learned about Metroid (as well as most Nintendo franchises that weren't Pokemon and Mario) through my friend's copy of Smash Bros Brawl at around the age of 9. Samus being a hot lady underneath the cool set of power armor left enough of an impression for me to try and draw her from memory, but I otherwise had no interest in actually playing her games for most of the following decade and a half. In that time I learned a bit of her lore from Smash Trophys, Game Theory videos, and watching the first few minutes of Other M cutscenes to hear the lady from Smash Bros talk, but it wasn't until shortly after the release of Metroid Dread when I watched some late game cutscenes from the game and GameXplain's Metroid movie pitch video that I became interested enough in the story of the games and Samus as a character that I decided to downlo- I mean obtain copies of Zero Mission and Fusion for my Visua- I mean Gameboy Advance, which I held off on starting until I worked through my gaming backlog more, and it was earlier this summer that I decided the time had come.
The Metroid Manga: Before starting Zero Mission as my first game I read the manga so I'd get a good sense of Samus' backstory before starting. Now I knew what to roughly expect thanks to the Gamexplain movie pitch adapting much of the story, but overall I enjoyed it more than I was expecting. I probably don't need to tell you that Ridley was the absolute highlight. His pure evil is matched only by Louie from Pikmin in terms of Nintendo villains and it got me very invested in his rivalry with Samus throughout the games. Aside from that, my favourite part of the manga was Samus' characterization and her relationship with her bird dads. I have a real soft spot for all adoption related tropes so I really like the idea that Samus was taken in by what was once the most important race in the galaxy and inherited their legacy of keeping the peace, which she basically turned into a job via bounty hunting. However a lot of what the manga does is better in concept than in execution, as the art is hard to follow a lot of the time and much of the story is sped through quite quickly, no thanks to how much time is spent with the extensive cast of side characters. When Samus started her zero mission I held off on finishing the story until I played the game, and while I'm glad that they went with adapting the game at the end because we got to see a climactic fight against Ridley it is super bizarre that they didn't commit to the idea and just stopped when Samus reached Mother Brain. The manga is absolutely worth reading but best thought of as a companion to Zero Mission, probably best read afterwards.
Metroid Zero Mission: My experience with Metroidvanias was basically just Hollow Knight, the first Dark Souls, and Bloodborne, and while I was excited to experience the same sense of adventure I also feared getting lost as per this franchise's reputation. However I surprisingly managed to make my way though the whole game with only one thing I had to look up, which embarrassingly was the same mistake David Jaffe infamously made in Dread, as I failed to realize I could shoot a ceiling open even with enemies there to hint that I could. I think the game has the perfect balance between freedom and guidance as someone's first Metroid game through the chozo statues that mark your next destination without telling you how exactly to get there. Combine that with it being a remake of the first game and I think it was just the perfect game for me and anyone else to start with. My biggest issue gameplay-wise was just the fights against Mother Brain and the two black Space Pirates were very frustrating, the latter because the combat just didn't feel designed for a fight that reflex based, at least not for a newcomer. After finishing the game I felt compelled to earn the Zero Suit Samus ending, which I accomplished by constantly scouting out the optimal routes and resetting so I could get through them as fast as possible.
AM2R: I wanted to play these games in story order so I knew I had to play some version of Metroid 2 next. After trying out the original Metroid that you unlock after beating Zero Mission I figured the pre-NES games weren't going to be fun for me so I wanted to play either AM2R or Samus Returns, and I went with the former as it would be easier to find and would be closer to the game I just finished. The game is a very impressive feat for a fan-made project, though I think it was the one I had the least fun with overall. A few hours into the game I listened to the Some Call Me Johnny review which mentioned it being very hard, and that made sense considering it was a fan project by big Metroid fans for big Metroid fans, but it did result in a few of the bosses being quite frustrating with how much skill they demanded, particularly with the space jump which I struggled to understand the timing of. I didn't feel like instantly replaying it as I did with Zero Mission but I really loved how they adapted the ending.
Super Metroid: "This SNES game probably won't hold up that well right?" Thought the guy whose first console was the PS2.
Super Metroid is one of the greatest games of all time.
Metroid Fusion: I was real intrigued going into this game given what I'd heard about its linearity and extra story focus compared to the prior games but it was still a shock going straight from 2 playthroughs of Super Metroid to this. It didn't even really feel like Metroid, especially with how you were essentially playing through levels via Adam sending you through specific locations with specific tasks. Eventually I got used to it and fully accepted it as a Metroid game as I was increasingly required to be more explorative, though I think of all Metroid games I've played it has the most needlessly abstract methods for mandatory progression. The example which I eventually gave up on and looked up was the yellow Space Pirate X which which could only be damaged with a shot to the back apparently? There was seemingly no visual hints for that and the doors didn't even open if you absorbed the X before they formed the Space Pirates. While I figured out the other examples on my own I just felt I had to blow up way more seemingly random walls than normal. The bosses were generally very fun except for everything about Yakuza. A super long lead up to a boss that kept killing me super easily before I figured out how to avoid its grab attack, followed by a struggle to regain health for the ensuing SA-X encounter with how little health you get from enemies that could fly in out of nowhere and do more damage to you than you were regaining. Speaking of the SA-X, it wasn't in the game as much as I was expecting, but each encounter was quite memorable, especially when I was hiding behind power bomb blocks and it dropped a power bomb. Overall I didn't like most of this game's choices, but I like it when franchises try new things so I wouldn't say anything should have been changed except for how much health you get from enemies. This was the 2nd game I didn't feel like instantly replaying.
Metroid Prime: As of writing this I am currently a few hours into the first Metroid Prime, specifically having just gotten the boost ball. The Metroid formula was very well translated into 3D and the visuals have aged amazingly. I may be playing a remaster but most remasters still don't look this modern. But curiously this has been the Metroid game I've spent the most time away from during a playthrough, going several days without picking it up again. It's not that I dislike playing it, I just don't feel as much of a strong desire to keep coming back to it. Maybe I just feel the need to catch up on other stuff after playing so much Metroid. I do think I'll get around to playing the rest soon enough.
One of my biggest impressions overall is that Metroid is actually quite underrated despite how iconic it is. Samus seems mostly remembered as a Smash Bros character and her iconic twist as one of gaming's first female protagonists, but it doesn't seem like that many people actually play the games. It's also funny that while Samus is famous as a sex symbol in the Smash Bros and general gaming fandoms, it seems that the actual Metroid fandom prefers their Samus cooler than sexy. Anyway I'm looking forward to eventually picking up Dread, the game which first hooked my interest into this franchise, and the other 2 Prime games. Maybe I'll even pick up Other M if I see it around.

Hiya! I notice you’ve played a lot of dnd rangers just like me! I wanted to ask what draws you towards the class? what do you enjoy about the class? And what do you think is the classes identity what makes a ranger ?
I’ve played swarmkeeper feywanderer horizon walker drakewarden and gloomstalker, I’m drawn towards the class in part because I’m a Ranger irl it’s my day job, but I also love the jack of all trades support vibe of the class it doesn’t excel anywhere but can help every class with a little bit of something and I view the classes identity as the professional adventurer someone who spends their life balancing the threats of the world whether that be the threats of the wild the monsters who inhabit it or the people who cross it, balancing their needs, kinda like Geralt of rivia balancing the needs of “monsters” and people, they work to make the world a safer better place picking up whatever skills and magic help them survive, I also note that every dnd class is either some form of Hunter or Tamer, the gloomstalker, horizon walker ,hunter and monster slayer, hunt the creatures of the wild, while the drakewarden, the swarmkeeper, the beast master and the fey wanderer spend their time befriending and taming the monsters of the wild. I don’t mean to answer my own question but I’m interested as someone who’s played the ranger just as much as me how your opinions may differ (I also especially love your borrower style ranger the little fellow is so cute and very well drawn)
Thanks for listening to my rambling and questions you can ignore this if it’s too much for whatever vibe you’re feeling rn have a lovely day !
hi!! Fun fact, i actually havent played any rangers 🥴 I'm the kinda dnd player who plays in like 2-3 campaigns but makes like 50 ocs. ASDFJKSDJF (I've only played a cleric and a barbarian in campaigns, but for oneshots I've tried every race) Id love to play one, but its kinda hard to do that for a oneshot since so much of the ranger class is dependent on favoured terrain/knowing your surroundings and levelling.
This is SUCH a fun ask because I LOVE the ranger class for its very niche yet versatile character archetype. I think if there's one type of word I could use to describe a ranger is a survivalist — the rangers that I do have, a handful of them are fashioned after Scouts/parkrangers (because....I was one.) or famous character types that do a lot of adventuring like cowboys, pirates, explorers etc. — if I'm being honest, ranger is the most 'adventurer' type there is!
(as a note here, i know pointy hat has mentioned a ranger's big thing was an animal companion -- i think?? IDR -- which is like a fun take. I really like his stuff, but i feel like a class shouldn't be bound to smth like a pet. any class can have pets!)
To use my own as an example, I have a bounty hunter devil cowboy (monster slayer), a princess-mononoke-ish Artemis huntress (hunter), a HouYi type ancient hero with 3-legged crows (swarmkeeper), an Indiana jones style explorerer (horizon walker) and a borrower (beast master). I really love the idea of all of them being really different but all being excellent survivalists and navigators!
Im a big fan of rangers that have fighting styles other than archery too. I think archery is awesome for the fighting style, but having duelist (like the borrower) or dueling (monster hunter) gives it an extra bit of flavour to just "class that wields a bow". it also sets them apart from a fighter bc in my head a fighter is more military while a ranger is more solitary. It establishes them as a martial class for sure, but its so versatile and has that edge that comes with dex-based instead of str-based.
I particularly like monster slayer bc to me that was very like...witcher-y. The cowboy is a monster slayer with favoured foes as humanoids bc he only tracks humanoids (bounties), which is some fun flavouring. There's a lot of customization! To clarify, there's a lot of room for flavour, but not as much choice for character builds (like, mechanically, at least compared to stuff like warlocks.)
The addition of magic also helps give it some class distinction :0
TLDR: mixes the best aspects of rogues and fighters with LOTS of room for flavour text.

its really great to see someone on here whose so passionate abt dead money!! i would love to hear about daisy and their relationship to the other collars! (also, i really love how you draw christine, she is delightfully teensy tiny)
YES THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING, I WOULD BE SO HAPPY TO EXPLAIN :D
The entire situation of being stuck in the Sierra Madre and forced to cooperate was a special kind of awful for Daisy, what with her being the type of person who does not trust other people (not at all quickly, at least). She likes being in control, and absolutely hates feeling like her life is in the hands (or, *ahem*, around the neck) of anyone else, which makes for a very interesting situation with some very interesting dynamics with the others collars!
Daisy and Dean:
Their relationship is something of an unstable equality, where they both hold the upper hand (and both want to hold the upper hand), until they don't. They could each beat the other easily, Dean with smarts, Daisy with strength, and they each know it, and it's something about that shared capacity for ruthlessness (the ability for each of them to fight with teeth and claws and come out on top; there's no clear winner between them, it could go either way) that enables them to actually get pretty close. (and like, really close at one specific point in an abandoned convenience store, if you catch my drift.) Between the two of them, Dean is the one in the so-called "leader" position, calling the shots whenever they're doing things side-by-side, although look any closer than face value and it becomes clear how much he relies on Daisy's strength, selflessness, and general know-how. Dean will let her take point more often than not, let her charge ahead and do the dangerous things, the scary things, the hard things, that he will then take most of the credit for (she doesn't mind too much, luckily). They're kind of like,, y'know, a rich guy and his big ol' guard dog that he keeps on a short leash and claims the reason it's so short is because he needs to keep her under control, that it's a reminder that he's in charge, he's the one who owns her (metaphorically), but in reality it's so short because A) he finds comfort in her being so close, able to protect him at arms' length, and B) she is really who's leading. not him.
He also refers to her as "Miss Daisy" more often than not, which is kind of cute. She calls him "babydoll."
Daisy and Dog/God:
Daisy meets God twice, once in the police station and again in the kitchen, and both times, they absolutely hate each other. No camaraderie between them, nor was there ever any potential.
Daisy and Dog, however, end up caring for each other. A lot. They become fiercely protective over each other, quickly realizing "oh hey I would die for this person actually" and each putting in the extra effort to make sure the other has what they need. Daisy goes out of her way to keep Dog fed, to reassure him that he's doing well, everything's going fine. In return, Dog keeps an eye out for the things he realizes Daisy is afraid of (BUT IMPORTANT CHARACTER NOTE FOR DAISY, admitting fear is something she never, ever does. Ever.). Dog will use himself as a shield for Daisy (if need be), and does his best to steer her away from the darker areas of the Villa, or from more cramped, enclosed spaces or pathways (she has claustrophobia). He tends to scout ahead when they're traveling together, reporting back to Daisy with things like "Small space ahead" or "Ghosts that way," so they can take a different route (even if they could theoretically kill ghosts together with relative ease, ghosts are scary, dude).
Daisy has a lot of sympathy for Dog. For a good chunk of her time in the Sierra Madre, he acts as an anchor, reminding her she's not here (or shouldn't be here) for the gold. She's here to cooperate until she can get the hell out of here, and take Dog with her. He deserves better than what the Sierra Madre has handed him.
(no spoilers bc I'm writing a whole fic about Daisy's time in the Madre, but . . . . things don't end up going well for her and Dog; something she ends up regretting so much, and so deeply, she attempts to drink the cloud kiss (poison), which (fortunately) doesn't end up killing her.)
Daisy and Christine:
These two end up trusting one another more than anyone trusts anyone else, due to several factors, most having to do with their inexplicable shared experiences (having gone to the Big Empty and gotten their brains messed with, being the only two human women, both knowing and being very close with Veronica[!!][although it is a purely platonic, sisterly relationship with Daisy; we all know that was very much not the case with Christine and Veronica <3]). They both adapt to the other very quickly, and get really good at watching each others' backs while they do their things in the Villa. They have a pretty significant barrier between them, though, with Christine not being able to speak, and Daisy . . . really not being able to understand her, for the most part (low perception and very low intelligence), but those walls fall down once they reach the casino and Christine is able to speak and explain things in a way Daisy understands.
very important note as well, Daisy understands immediately that Christine wouldn't want to go in the elevator at her switching station to do all her work manually (tiny cramped room, noises like an Auto-Doc, no. way.). Forcing Christine into the elevator was never even an option; Daisy has claustrophobia, she doesn't want to be stuck in any tiny-ass room with barely any leg room. Christine appreciates this. :)
i love talking about characters and dead money this is so fabulous, thank you for your ask <33333
#if anyone has any other questions please ask!! i love to answer!!! :D#RAAAAA DEAD MONEY MAKES ME SO CRAZY /VERY POSITIVE#so much more i couldve touched on (like the shift in dynamics once they enter the casino environment rather than the villa)#but i felt like this was getting really long lol#I LOVE TO TALK AND I LOVE TO WRITE#YAYYY#dead money#new vegas#daisy correa#dean domino#dog/god#christine royce#courier six#fallout headcanons#irradiated writing#headcanons#oh oh oh p.s. daisy calls christine “sugar” and “love” (platonically)#and dog “baby” but like. in the tone you might use for a small child#she also calls dean “pretty boy”

Can you please make platonic mercenaries with a teenage girl reader? She's originally from Russia. Y/n is a big fan of horror movies and other creepy stuff. Her favorite hobby is walking around abandoned buildings and diggerism, she likes to take things she finds in buildings with her as souvenirs. One shot as all mercenaries go with her to the abandoned hospital, if it's not hard. They have fun, have wheelchair races, scare each other, play catch-up, draw graffiti, until they hear some strange noises, the mercenaries think it's y/n since she moved away from them, but she stands next to them. Y/n as the bravest decides to go into the room where the strange sounds are coming from, dementia and courage, She enters the room, but there is no one there, only children's drawings and toys, y/n is alarmed by the find and she runs out of that room screaming to the mercenaries that they need to get out of there. When the mercenaries and y / n start to leave the hospital, they hear the clatter of feet, as if someone is running after them, and when they have already run out of the hospital gate, everything is silent, and there is no pursuer
Sorry I actually don’t do full one shots at this time! But I did dot point a few headcanons about this awesome idea! Hope u like some of em they’re short and sweet :’)
Mercs and Fem!Teen!Reader explore an abandoned hospital
You were a bold and daring girl. You loved anything spooky or creepy, especially abandoned places! Your favourite hobby was to poke around in locations you weren’t normally allowed to
All nine mercenaries tagged along with you to an abandoned hospital. With you being so young, they could be overprotective of you. You ran off away from the team a lot, looking through the old rooms.
As you scurried off down a dark hallway, Heavy followed after and scooped you up with just one of his arms. Medic scolded you for being so reckless, but like that ever stopped you
You and Pyro tagged the old hospital walls with graffiti. You couldn’t help but giggle with delight as he painted cute hearts and smiley faces all over
Scout challenged you to a wheelchair race, which you immediately accepted. The rest of the team cheered you on as you both rolled down the hallway, trying to beat each other. Alas, Scout won
When you were snooping around in a dark room, Sniper snuck up behind you and scared the daylights out of you. You screamed in horror, before he bursted into laughter. You didn’t find it nearly as funny
You got your revenge though. When Sniper stepped out of the hospital to take a leak, you waited for him behind the wall. As he reentered, you leapt out and scared the Christ out of him back
There was a scary noise from one of the empty hospital rooms. You and Spy crept over to the door to check it, but he quickly chickened out and disappeared within thin air. You rolled your eyes as you heard his hurried footsteps run the other direction. Coward
The rest of the team watched from a distance as you bravely entered the spooky room, finding nothing. Just as you were about to look back and tell them it was nothing, the wind slammed the window shut, startling you
You shrieked in terror, bolting down the hall with nine men at your heels. Soldier screamed too, more of a war cry than anything. You all ran for your lives, spooked out of your minds
A wave of relief washed over you when you all escaped the hospital, falling onto the grass just outside. You sat there catching your breath, laughing to yourself at how silly you were
Engineer asked exactly why you all started running, but you couldn’t give him a good answer. You just got spooked… Demoman laughed, playfully patting you on the back
You enjoyed tonight, and hoped that the mercs would accompany you on more of your adventures in the future

hello there :D
I’ve never done an ask before so here it goes.
to my favorite creator on tumblr!
I have always had this theory that Dust and Horror are very fidgety and often need to do something with their hands, I have always thought that sometimes Horror, Dust and Error (I know Error isn’t in this story but he is in mine) would just sit by the fire and do their own fidgety crafts, Dust does origami since it is delicate and takes time distracting him from his thoughts, Horror likes to cross stitch, and Error knits. I was just wondering if they do anything like that, maybe a fidgety craft like that could help Dust with his nerves and baby depression (it helps me :D).
Lastly, I saw someone mention the boys coming out to Nightmare, what are your head cannons on their sexualities?
I love your work and can’t wait to read more, take your time and have fun. And here, a sketch, Gooptales and Sky children of the light
Hello!
It's okay, I honestly get nervous sending in asks myself. Welcome to my ask box, and feel free to send in anything anytime. I try to answer most of them I recieve.
And what an honor to have such a title! Thank you!
I love your idea! It is nice for the boys to have hobbies to occupy their minds and hands other than mischief! Really, what you shared is a pleasant scene I could see playing out.
For HNBD, though, it would be mostly Killer with his whittling once he takes up that hobby. Dust just likes reading, and is good at sitting still and letting his mind drift off into space adventures in his book. Maybe one day, he will try writing one. But right now, he just would rather read. Horror, with his hunting that he will start, likes leather working as not being wasteful extends to more than food to him. To him, using 100% of an animal he kills is how he honors and respects the creatures that sustain him. Cross likes training, gaming, and occasionally sketching and journaling. As for the Growing Up
GoopTales offshoot, well, the boys do join clubs which will kind of answer that. Cross joins track and field as he stays fairly active. Horror doesn't join on at the school, Nightmare helps him find a hunters club, and he also decides to be a boy scout. He's an outdoors kind of guy. Killer ends up joining the drama club and taking such classes. He finds a love for Shakespeare, and it makes Nightmare so happy to hear him in his room practicing his lines. Plays are perfect for him, but he can't read them while sitting. Reading has been difficult for him since his soul was mutated, but since lines are split up, and it is meant to be read aloud, with voices, he can focus on it. As for Dust, he didn't want to join any at first, but Killer kept dragging him along. Eventually, he slips away one day and finds the chess club... he also finds out about the creative writing club and joins both since they meet on different days.
I honestly don't feel like discussing that, sorry. Just know, my main ship is Soriel, and if I see a Sans, I want to give them a Toriel, and if I see a Toriel, they should have a Sans. That's the way my brain is programmed. I do actually have a Toriel picked out for Dream. But trying to not spill all my Soriel headcanons all over the UTMV too quickly. XD (After all, there is FuzzyNight, then my fics I am slowly writing when in romance moods: The HouseKeeper for Killer and Soul Fire Blues for Dust. I think that's enough for now)
What an adorable drawing! Thank you so much for sharing this! I will have to add it to my collection of art! I love seeing them following Nightmare like little ducklings. It warms my heart. And love the cape you gave Nightmare!

there have been some asks sitting unanswered in my inbox for an embarrassingly long time so I'm just going to go through and answer a bunch of them at once haha.
Sada and Turo / Paldea
now that the dlc is out I can play around with my own version of paldea's story and the professors (that I may or may not actually talk about), but they won't be in the rainbow rocket stuff with supersymmetry. "officially" at least. maybe I'll draw something for fun, but I don't intend them to actually be in rr like the rest. they're more interesting to me within the story of paldea, especially with the ai aspects and ... other things going on there.
but to the anons who sent me these: those ideas are cool and honestly you should pursue them yourself!
Lusamine
absolutely yes. in the base universe, her "unification" with nihilego kills her pretty quickly. iota lusamine is luckier since her nihilego seems to prefer keeping her around for longer. slow-acting vs fast-acting poisons, I suppose. by the time lusamine is picked up by rr, it's been about 6 months since she became jellyfish. who knows how much time she has left but her mental (and physical) state will continue to deteriorate along the way. an unsurprising consequence of willingly jumping into the mouth of a parasite
possibly? I haven't given that much thought tbh. considering lillie and guzma's proximity to lusamine when she goes motherbeast, they'd both be lucky to make it out alive hahaha. but I could see all three of them trying to help people and pokemon in the UB-overrun world too
honestly, no clue. I don't even think she knows, and she definitely doesn't care. who needs regular pokemon when she's got ultra beasts now! if lillie is still around she might have taken in a few of them herself though.
Other AU stuff
I've actually made a post about team galactic here!
one fun fact about each of them:
maria/mars is giovanni and ariana's first child, and she ran from her home in kanto when she was 16 to become a pokemon trainer and get away from her parents. sorry silver (she hasn't contacted him in a while).
juno/jupiter makes traditional (hisuian) style pokeballs as a hobby despite the fact that they absolutely are not practical to actually use anymore. but they look nice
sterling/saturn helps run the in-universe equivalent of pokemon showdown because he's a nerd. he enjoys simulated battles more than the real thing most of the time
great news: the rainbow rocket invasion all his fault!
by that I mean the choice of the base universe for invasion wasn't entirely arbitrary; rainbow rocket didn't just Show Up and hope this universe had what they wanted. beforehand, someone from rainbow rocket (either giovanni or archer, maybe even colress) scouted things out, and approached faba for information about the general state of the world and necrozma in particular. faba essentially sells out the universe (and aether's work with necrozma) in exchange for the promise of power and whatever tantalizing rewards the rr emissary offers haha. it's possible some of this involves planting a device to let rr come back to the right universe when ready too. what faba is up to when everything is going down in rr is not something that I've thought about, but he definitely gets found out for his actions leading up to it. oops!
unfortunately probably not. the rr stuff is happening on the other side of the planet and I can't think of a situation which might result in them getting to meet up. I'm not enough of an expert on the two of them to say how such a meeting would play out either, but it would definitely be... interesting considering their own universe's version of the other person has been dead for several years.
rose would probably be the least upset about it but cyrus wins the award for most upset (he has control issues). lysandre absolutely would have the most violent response to it though
Compliments
while I'm not going to share the collection of complimentary messages I've gotten over time, I want everyone to know that I really appreciate hearing that you enjoy my ideas and art! it's encouraging and I'm glad people like my pokemon playground hahaha. and that applies to tags too! it's always great to see... I don't always get around to actually answering the stuff in my inbox (whether it's actual questions or otherwise) but rest assured I do see it!

Way Back Home
You can read this fic, and all my others, on my ao3!
______________________
The nights in Hyrule had gotten to a point where, come morning, the trees, grass, and whatever flowers were left would be coated in a thin sheet of icy frost, as the seasons began their final change of the year. Grasses shriveled up, most fall crops were dying, and Hyrule's local waterfowl were beginning to leave for the warmer southern waters. Next spring, they would return and nest in the nearby ponds and springs.
Zelda was home alone at Links abode in Hateno, dumping what was left of the slightly damp firewood into the furnace. It was sappy wood, so now and again, she would jump from the sound of a loud crack as the heat made the wood pop and crackle viciously.
Link was supposed to return from a trip to Rito Village soon. Kass had asked for some help reaching his destination on a three-day trip, and the only path they could take ran through Lizalfos camps and Lynel territory. Link was more than happy to accompany him, always ready to lend a hand to a friend. That was four days ago, but Zelda hadn't the slightest worry. Sometimes his trips took a little longer than expected, especially when unsavory weather, monsters, or villagers needing help popped up unannounced. He was capable, that she knew of, and never doubted.
Originally, she had planned to go, but Link insisted she stay home and have some time to herself to do what she pleased, whether that be reading, writing, practicing archery, or putting together another one of her weird science experiments, as long as he didn't come home to a blown up house. She thought about it and realized she had been tagging along so much that she never made enough time for her own interests. "Actually, that's not a half-bad idea. There are some potion recipe parchments I gathered from the library. I'd like to try them and… Oh! I have to read those books too!"
Zelda was curled up on the couch reading said book. She had snatched it from Hyrule Castle's worn-down library during a scouting trip with Link. It was still intact and readable, and she took it, along with multiple others she found interesting, such as some fantasy novels, and romantic literature. This particular one was about native flora and fauna and she flipped through its pages, enamored with the scientific sketches and drawings. "Some of these flowers don't even exist anymore!"
Living in Hateno had swiftly become one of her favorite things about her new life. Though she was a princess a hundred years ago, she hadn't missed all the formalities, like those itchy ceremonial dresses, early mornings rushing to etiquette practice, or spending hours on end in freezing spring waters trying to access a power she wasn't even sure she possessed. Here, she could come and go as she pleased, spend hours indoors without someone banging on the door, rushing her to some diplomatic meeting, and, best of all, she had Link with her all the time, and there were no maids around to spread "scandalous rumors" about the pair. The worst she heard around the village was "Hey, are you Link's girlfriend?" Which she'd proudly announce "yes" to.
It was peaceful above all else. A warm fire, fuzzy lynel skin blankets, books to read, food to eat, and houseplants galore, a show of Link's green thumb. It was all she needed to be content. The only thing that could make it better was if he'd hurry on home.
Whatever pleasant thoughts she had were interrupted by three forceful knocks on the front door. She froze up and dropped the book to the floor, momentarily angered by the fact she had lost what page she was on. She really needed to invest in a bookmark.
A voice came from outside. Link's voice, albeit a bit hoarse. "Zelda? Zelda! Open up. It's me."
The moon was at its highest point in the sky. What was he doing back at that time of night, and in such cold temperatures? She pulled herself from her comfy seat, tossing the blankets to the side. "Great heavens, Link. It's midnight!" She strode towards the door. "What are you doing back at this hour-" her words were cut off by a loud gasp when she flung the door open. Instead of her knight jumping into open arms as she had hoped, she found him in a much worse off state.
First was the blood. So much fucking blood. He was covered head to toe like he had gone swimming in it. Some of it was dried, some fresh, but it was all a horrific sight. Then there were the bruises, two on his arm, one on his leg, another on his face, and there were some hidden under the torn clothing he was wearing. Some looked like they were beginning to turn blue, and Zelda worried about broken bones.
Lastly, he was paler than snow. His lips had lost their pinkish coloring, as did the tips of his ears and fingers. He looked like walking death. She noticed that his eyes were starting to dilate, as he did his best to hold her gaze, and she grew worried, knowing that usually, that happens right before…
"Sweet Hylia! Link!" She saw him begin to sway forward, and she lunged, grabbing him under his arms and hauling him upwards, and he garbled something unintelligible.
"Huh? What?"
She gave him a few seconds to come back to. "Bandages… and there's elixirs by the sink." He swayed again and she held him steady. "The table. Please."
"Right, right. Here, arm over my shoulders." She helped him lift his left arm over her, and slowly, they made their way to the kitchen table, where she plopped him down in a chair and only went to fetch his requested items when she was sure he wouldn't collapse again.
She came back only moments later, and Link mumbled again. "Can't see…"
"It's alright, I'm right here." The biggest gash was on his outer right thigh, and she immediately went to work wrapping it as tightly as she could manage, earning several pained noises from Link. "All this blood…"
"Most of it's not mine." He grumbled.
"I'm unsure whether that's better or worse." She finished off the bandaging and popped open an elixir for Link to take. "Here. Don't chug it all at once or you'll vomit. Little sips."
He did as he was told, slowly taking little sips at a time, while Zelda got to work on some of his lesser wounds. A cut on his shoulder, a bruise to his stomach, a puncture in his arm, a slash across his top lip, a lesion to his shoulder blade, the list went on and on, but Zelda was quick. What felt like a month's supply of medical bandages later, she was sure she had every single one cleaned and dressed, and some were starting to heal at the edges thanks to the healing elixir. Link had already opened his second one and was starting to drink it too, and she had to remind him again to go slow.
She was wetting a washcloth in the sink when Link tried to stand, but stars clouded his vision as soon as he did, and his body suddenly felt like lead. He landed back on the chair with a heavy thud, making Zelda panic, and rush over.
"Don't try that! You've lost far too much blood. Besides, I'm still working on these." She pointed to a cut with stitches that she had worked on. "Try to raise your arms. I need to get these filthy clothes off of you."
He languidly hoisted them upwards, and Zelda took extra caution in maneuvering the fabric around all his wounds, worried about infecting them. She tossed the ruined shirt to the floor, then crouched down, undoing his belt. "Pants too." A little bit of color returned to his face as he froze.
"Link-"
"Yeah! Yeah…" He snapped out of it and lifted his hips so she could get the garment off. It was safe to say that everything he was wearing would be tossed out or burned, and he was left sitting in his boxers.
Zelda backed up and finally took a good look. He looked like hell had swallowed him whole, chewed him up, and spat him back to earth. The injuries were all dressed, but he didn't look any better. He looked defeated. She squeezed the washcloth in her hands, and strode over, gingerly wiping some dried blood off his collarbones. "Oh, Link. What happened out there?"
He said nothing. Instead, he just looked over at the wall, clearly not wanting to say. Zelda wiped more blood and gore off of him before pressing for an answer. "Link." She brought a finger under his chin and gently, but firmly, pulled him to face her. "What? Happened?" She punctuated each word.
Beat, he sighed roughly, like a balloon losing all its air, and pressed a hand to his forehead. "Yiga."
"Fucking hell, Link."
"I know, I know. Don't berate me, the wounds were a lesson enough." He coughed wetly. "Shit."
Finished with her work, she took the blood-stained cloth and tossed it on top of the ruined clothing. "How many were there?"
He held up his fingers to count and then dropped them. "Ten? Twenty? I don't know. They just kept appearing. It felt like an ambush."
"I don't see how it couldn't have been an ambush. Are they all dead?"
"Yes-" he caught himself. "No. Wait. No. I… well… I got some of them but I- I just-" It pained him to even say it.
"You did what?" She questioned. He looked at her for a moment, trying to calm his nerves, which were becoming more frayed by the second. Zelda knew what he had done. He wouldn't have been there had he not, but she knew just how much it bothered him, so she placed a hand on his. "Ran away. You ran for your life."
She felt his body tense at the fact. "I- I ran. I ran as fast as I could." His voice broke and Zelda swore she heard her heart shatter into a million little pieces. "I took down a few, then more came for me. I got overrun, and… one of them cut my arm, then another. I just- there were too many." He brought his head up and looked straight at her, and Zelda suddenly realized she was witnessing something she had never seen before. "I just ran. They chased me but I ran." Tears were now flowing, dripping onto the bandages.
"I was scared, Zelda. I was so fucking scared."
Those few words made him feel more bare and seen than he had ever felt before, and his breathing got more erratic as every silent second passed by.
Zelda stood, taking both his hands in hers, and tugging. He stood up, still jaded, but a little confused as she slowly led him towards the couch, and the warm, but dimming fire. She sat down first, never letting him go, then guided him to follow. His breathing was still labored, and she worried he would pass out again. "Come here, love."
Moving hurt him, from every part of his body, and he would hiss in pain every time a wounded part of him would hit the side of the couch, or he would put weight on the wrong leg. Slowly, he eased himself down on top of Zelda, until he was able to wrap his arms around her shoulders and release some of his body weight. He let out a long breath of relief.
She shifted slightly to grab a blanket off the floor, and he whined. "Sorry." She dragged the blanket up over them both, covering him just below his shoulders, and he shifted to get more comfortable. He looked at her, and she looked like she was thinking hard. Gazing upon his battered body and teary face with a judging look, as she did with those weird experiments of hers.
"Zelda. Say something. Anything."
She looked like she had been pulled from a trance, and she sighed, letting her hands drift under the blanket as she rubbed up and down his sides and back. He felt like he could fall asleep at the first touch. "My dear, sweet knight. Of all the courageous, boar-headed, and downright crazy things I've seen you do," She brought her hand to his face, "I think this is, by far, the bravest thing you've ever done."
"But-" Link couldn't believe his ears, and he perked them, curiously. "But I ran!"
"You did, you ran for your life. You ran as fast as you could go and because of that you are alive, Link. You came home to me because you ran."
He was starstruck, and Zelda's patience was wearing paper thin. She leaned forward, pulling him in and kissing him as hard and fervently as ever, making him squeak, but she slowed as she felt him melt, like wax over flame. She kept telling herself to be gentle, not breaking him any more than he already was.
He tried to mumble something, and she pulled back, letting him catch his breath to speak.
"It's not right. That wasn't courage, that was fear. I was frightened." Tears returned anew, though not as much as before. "It's not right. I'm supposed to be a hero, courage incarnate. Not whatever the hell this is." He gestured to himself, placing his hand on his chest.
She took his hand and wrapped him back around her shoulders. "Link, true courage is knowing when to run. If you didn't, you wouldn't be fighting another day." She frowned. "You never would have come home. To me."
Link sniffled, and buried his face in her neck, trying and failing to get closer when there was no more air between them, and Zelda curled around him, sheltering and warming him until his whimpers and cries got quieter and quieter, until all she heard was heavy breaths. He finally peeled himself away from her, sitting up a little straighter. She put her hand back to his cheek and he all but melted at the touch, pushing closer to her. She smelled like pine and chamomile, and Link wondered for a moment if he really had died and made it to heaven.
He glanced at her lips and leaned forward. "Kiss me?" And Zelda fought back a smirk.
Oranges. She had been eating oranges because he tasted the faint citrus flavor every time he kissed her. Maybe some strawberries too, but mostly the oranges. She pressed harder into the kiss, pushing her tongue into her mouth and making him moan. He had surrendered, too tired to take control, but more than willing to let her take charge.
It went on until the embers in the fire started to die out, and Zelda pulled back, nor before placing a kiss on the tip of his nose. "I love you, Link, but now I want you to rest, ok?" He nodded, sad they had to stop, but his yawn told him she was right. "Lay down. I'm not going anywhere."
She saw the way he looked around them, out the windows, and at the door. The horrors of the ambush are still fresh in his mind, so she had to remind him that he was safe. "Link, no one is going to get you." She lifted her hand to him, and a faint glow of the Triforce shone just under the skin. "Not while I'm here. Now sleep, my knight."
He felt so lucky to have her, and he smiled widely, taking her hand, still faintly glowing, and pressing a kiss to it, before settling down, and laying his head on her chest. "I love you too, Princess. More than you'll ever know." He was out within minutes, breathes coming in slight wheezes from the injuries, but comfortable other than that.
Zelda watched for a while before she felt herself grow weary and fatigued. She scooted down, careful not to wake him, and snuggled closer. "Goodnight my love."
Seeing him in such a state pained her. Images of red-clad warriors with curved blades and white masks danced in her head, filling her with seething, fiery rage. Like hell, they were going to take someone else she loved out of her life. Not a chance. Not with her alive and kicking. She'd kill Ganon a hundred times over to protect him, so some Yiga ambush was nothing.
"Link, I promise you. I will find them, and I will destroy… Every. Last. One." With her promise sealed, she allowed herself to drift off.

since you said crossovers were okay can we see some of that fashion buddies crossover you mentioned awhile back?
(Man, copypasting and editing this on my phone turned out to be a pain in the ass.)
----------
There are rumblings of a strange new monster wandering about the jianghu. It appears to be a woman dressed in scandalous black clothing with gold armor, except it can't be an actual woman because the scout reports say that she can grow taller than the trees or smaller than a bird, that she can fly on insect wings and shoot lightning from her hands.
A joke, the great sects think. A tale created and spread by drunkards.
Until a group of Lan disciples are the next to cross her path.
---
Janet van Dyne is having a very, very bad week. She's lost count of the number of magical or technological portals she's been tossed through in her lifetime, so at first she'd been grateful to at least have ended up on Earth this time.
And then the first group of people she had come across had promptly run screaming.
What Mandarin she's picked up on both her jobs is no help, since no one gives her time to speak before they attack, and like hell she's just going to stand there and let herself be stabbed.
Which has only led to this. Staring at a drawing of a snarling face under the hooded visor of her costume.
She groans and pinches the bridge of her nose to stave off a headache, then considers her options.
She's been (guiltily) stealing food in her small form already... maybe if she could nick some clothing, it would be easier to hide...
The only problem being that she would also need to steal a basin so she could particle-treat them to change size with her (no naked escapes, thank you very much), and that would be noticeable.
She's still deciding what to do when two young men, a grouchy looking one Steve's size in greens and greys and the other more placid one in the white and blue of the last group to try and kill her, enter the inn through the doorframe she's currently hiding on.
And they have swords like that last group.
Shit.
Time to go.
She slips out of a gap between boards and heads for the edge of town, but only a little ways away from the inn, she starts feeling inexplicably exhausted.
Maybe the sleep deprivation is catching up to her. Holes in trees and cracks in walls aren't exactly comfortable.
Without meaning to, her flight path starts drifting lower as the sleepiness gets worse.
-and then she's startled back to fully awake when she's snared right out of the air by a net with glowing threads.
"Fu-" <<Hey! Let me out!>>
The kid holding the net looks a year or two younger than Nadia and Ying, and... oh, damn, he's wearing the same colors as tall, dark, and grumpy back at the inn. That can't be a coincidence.
<<You don't look all that scary for a monster,>> he says, tilting his head.
Oh, thank God. Finally, someone who talks first instead of going right for stabby things.
<<That's because I'm not a monster,>> she replies, retracting her visor into her hood and yanking it back to uncover her hair, ears, and face.
<<But you are magical?>>
She briefly debates how much she should explain, then settles on keeping it simple. <<I was a science experiment.>>
That seems to be good enough, as the boy puts the net down on a table that passers-by are unlikely to notice, letting her start untangling herself.
He sits down and rests his chin on his fists with a grin she knows all too well promises mischief. <<So does that mean you don't want to use your giant size to crush thousands of innocents into soup?>>
<<Alright, one: That's morbid. And gross... Are people really saying that?>>
<<Among other horrors.>>
She groans. <<Great. No. Literally the only two things I want right now are a bath and some sleep.>>
Before he can answer, there's a commanding bark of "Huaisang!" from the street, and the kid winces.
<<Friend of yours?>>
<<My older brother,>> he replies, then scratches his cheek in thought. <<Can you hide in my sleeve?>
<<Your collar would be easier on both of us,>> Jan says. She's still wary, but seeing as he seems willing to risk trusting her, she'll go along.
She flutters up to settle between the third and fourth layers, hiding under his hair and tucking her wings in to curl herself up small.
<<All set?>>
She hopes she's not making a huge mistake. <<Let's go.>>

Day Two: Blink
She blinked.
“Just waaaatch the crystal. 5 minutes, no looking away, no cheating, and I’ll pay for dinner. Scout’s honor.”
She would roll her eyes, but that would probably count as cheating. So she just stared. This was sort of a stupid bit, now that she had the peace and quiet to think about it. Some moronic stageplay ‘hypnosis’ act. She could put up with the cornier bits, so she didn’t mind. She just couldn’t wrap her mind around how anyone thought this would actually work on someone.
Sure, it was easy on the eyes. It was nice to look at, had a pretty glow to it and about a million sides for her gaze to shift to. The facets all glittered in the sun, shining pretty light everywhere. She could admit it was nice to admire while she breezed through her time.
She blinked.
“There you go. Just watch and relax…”
She resisted the urge to tell them to shut up, but their voice only came to her in a muddied mumble. She was focused on the crystal dangling in front of her now. Had it gotten bigger since she refocused her attention? Or had she just…needed to stare longer..?
No, it seemed bigger since she blinked for sure. Or just closer. It didn’t matter—though her eyes lidded a little to counteract it. She didn’t know how much time had passed. She was pretty relaxed, to be honest.
She blinked. Slower, this time.
The crystal had most definitely dropped lower to her face. It twisted and shone in the pretty light, shining all its pretty colors across the walls, and it…it looked, um…
“…pretty…” she heard herself mumble, jaw slack, as her eyes fluttered slowly. No one else was doing any of the work—“hypnosis” or otherwise. As far as she was concerned, she was doing the heavy lifting. Her eyes, that was. They felt so heavy…and the crystal was drawing even closer, filling up her entire field of vision. It was so much to try and focus on all the glittering sides at once—too much. It was too…much…
Her eyes rolled back.
“…man. Only lasted 2 and a half this time. New record!”
