I’m a huge fan of reincarnation x immortal stuff, cause it gives off a happy ending and hope that their love will never die even if they’re reborn in a different time💖

I wanna start at the top by saying I think all of them freak out at least a little bit when they see their long dead lover seemingly up and alive again

I'll get into each one individually but needless to say, it's a bit of a shock to the lot of them

I think he's gone through this too many times and loves the drama of it all too much to ever have him claim that he will never love again after you (at least not forever)

but suffice it to say he doesn't think he'll ever have a love like you again in any of his life times worth of living he has left to get through

he also didn't become a vampire to kick the bucket quickly nor does he think he'll be headed in the same direction as you when he eventually does so he's in no particular hurry to 'follow you' as it were

you being reincarnated is actually his doing

against his best laid plans, you didn't end up in hell with him when you died

I think he could only stand it for a few months before he called in a favor and got your soul entered into the reincarnation program

that DOES mean he'll have to wait 18+ years to even attempt to make a move

and also that you won't remember him

or much if anything of your previous life

which means there's a 50/50 toss up that you'll be happily taken when he can actually find you again

he doesn't watch over you as you grow cause that's too creepy

but he does put some lesser demons/spirits to keep an eye on you and keep you safe

he doesn't want to have to start this process all over again

nor does he know how many otherworldly favors he can rely on for this

I think he 'randomly' bumps into you one day when you're old enough and he starts flirting and asks you out

I think whether or not he tells you about the whole deal will depend on how things play out

I think with Reece it's less of a reincarnation and more an alt time line version of you

Am I the asshole for being posted to this blog?

Here's a bit of background, even though I don't really know if it's necessary. Essentially, there is this “subreddit” called “r/AmITheAsshole.” If you don't know what a “subreddit” is, it's a sort of almost forum hosted on this social media site called “Reddit.” The purpose of r/AmITheAsshole is simple: people post anecdotes where they think it is possible they might have been an asshole, and commenters vote.

Now, Reddit announced changes to its API pricing, and moderators of a bunch of popular subreddits coordinated to do a 2-day “blackout,” starting on June 14, 2023. To my knowledge, r/AmITheAsshole was not one of these subreddits, but the resulting exodus of Reddit users to other sites (including this one) inspired someone to make a sort of gimmick blog based on the subreddit. People would send submissions through the blog's asks, and the people would vote in an attached poll.

While I am unsure of the history of the blog aita-blorbos, I am reasonably confident that it was based on this blog adaptation of the r/AmITheAsshole. It follows a similar format to the other blog, except for the fact that the submissions are supposed to be from the perspective of fictional characters, as opposed to the person sending the ask.

Now there's a lot of people that follow this particular blog. Maybe they're waiting for their own submission to leave the queue. Maybe they test themselves to see if they can guess what the ask is about. Maybe they just like the stories. I cannot say for certain.

Here's the thing, though. This isn't a story. I'm not a character, at least not in a conventional sense. There's nothing here to “figure out.” And I'm taking up a perfectly fine spot of the queue that another (possibly more deserving) post could have taken.

So does that make me the asshole?

I've been rereading your Zombie AU for the first time in forever - I know, everybody else is like "aw Christmas, time for hallmark" and I'm overhere like 'hmmh yes zombie guts and Angst, perfekt for this time of year' - and jesus fucking christ, I forgot how mean Steve was at first!

I know they occasionally mention that he was a bitch, but damn. I must have repressed that memory. He's been so nice recently that I, not unlike r herself, must've forgotten how snappy and moody and grumpy he was.

After the third chapter, I was like, "Hot damn, Steven. At this point, I'd have fed you to a to a bloody zombie myself. How dare you talk to us like this, who tf do you think you are".

And I know he makes up for it after a while, I do, but geez Louise. I kind of want to wrestle him, just to make him snap out of it quicker. I swear I could do it, I'm not a fighter, but I'm heavy and most willing to fight a dirty. (Just a tiny smidge, of course, I shan't hurt him... too much. Just that ego of his. A teeny tiny bit 👌🏻)

as much as i can rag on localizations sometimes, i think it's important to differentiate me nitpicking the objective quality of a localization and simply the intent behind it... translating is extremely subjective and nuanced in a way that i don't think any monolinguals (or even people who haven't attempted translating themselves) can understand and two competent translators can end up with completely different results that are both functional localizations.

i also understand that a lot of localized works are simply impossible to "live up to my standards" because i don't think localization teams have the time to make sure every line is perfect, which is fine! i'm just an insane fan so i enjoy picking apart every single line, that's all

and i also can't agree with the idea that a proper localization adds nothing to a work if you can understand the source material, especially in a world where social media allows us to connect with fans who experienced it in so many different languages. each language is able to add nuances and portray things differently that can be really interesting sometimes! (see: the use of iambic pentameter in live a live, or something as simple as partitio's yeehaw-ing in english)

also as someone who has dabbled in amateur translations, i really feel for localizers because i can't tell you how many times i've wracked my brain on how to write a simple sentence or just resort to using a translator's note (which localizers often don't have the liberty of doing, especially in games) and it isn't always flattering when someone compares my work favourably against an official localization. it's really just a matter of taste most of the time...!

tl;dr localization is really, really hard and when i nitpick it's often because a version is at odds with my personal interpretations of a scene or character
