It's a small detail, but I keep thinking about Legends Are Forever (totk au) Curtwen and body heat.
Before the Calamity, Curt generates a lot of heat. He grew up in the green fields of Hateno Village, running rampant under the sun, before spending years training to be a knight in and around northern Hyrule Field. He runs hot naturally, and stays active - while he is Owen's appointed knight, he still finds time to train, so that he is ready for danger at a moment's notice at all times.
Owen, on the other hand, is usually cold. He has spent years indoors, spending practically all of his time on his royal education and his duties as a prince - giving everything to his training to awaken the sacred power he was born into, that he is supposed to be able to wield, while he has no real guidance on the matter. The chill of each trip to a sacred spring lingers longer than the last.
But after the Calamity, when they finally reunite, a separated century of stasis between the world they knew and the world they find themselves in, this is turned on its head.
The Shrine of Resurrection ran on incredible technology and restorative magic. It used the blessed waters of a hot spring bubbling up from the Depths below to bring its inhabitant back to life - and yet, the cold of death that once claimed Curt's bones is reluctant to let him go, and keeps reminding him of its presence.
It's just as well, then, that Owen is a divine furnace. Now that his sealing power has been set blazing, it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon - the descendant of Hylia's holy light burns hot, even when he isn't actively using it.
The fiery hero-to-be and the cold prince in the tower, the revived martyr and the sacred flame - they complement each other.

#could do with an 'it's complicated' option really /hj#depends where you put the breakup. i mean technically curt left him (for dead) at the start of the show#but also 'we're done / we're through' is quite the breakup statement sooooo#/silly#and Pearl and Marina don't have any canonical relationship status (to the best of my knowledge) because nintendo are COWARDS#they're still basically canon though in the sense that if they were a straight couple people would probably consider them canon. so no.
