And apparently she uses shikai 24/7 because she thinks the nails are cute, which other squads criticize her for. By other squads i mean Byakuya he probably hates her ass

on some level I understand that welcome to hell is probably a little harder to sell than hazbin given the *gestures vaguely* entire main plotline of w2h THAT SAID im going to be mad about it forever. because one of them is actually funny and has good character design and compelling dynamics and a good plot and its not the one about the freaking hotel.

I hate the Staghorns so much. every time I do their questline to get that painting I think "oh surely it's not going to make me mad this time around" and YET
#they are genuinely terrible friends#when I get to the part where they just THROW AWAY Ravaedron's gift so callously I just AYTDFASHGFD I need to bite something#they then go back like 'oh nooo we only hated your gift you worked so hard on because we would miss you 🥺' like bitch WHAT#WHAT??? that is not how a sane person reacts to someone making you a personal gift with you in mind!!!!!!!!!#like 'ooh it didn't have the right ✨meaning✨ behind it' IT WAS MADE WITH LOVE. IT WAS MADE WITH YOU AND THE LAND YOU LOVE IN MIND#AND THIS LAND HOLDS SO MANY PAINFUL MEMORIES FOR HIM. MAKING THAT PAINTING MUST HAVE BEEN SO HARD FOR HIM#BUT HE DID IT ANYWAY FOR YOU#AND YOU THROW IT AWAY#I HATE THEM I HATE THEM SO MUCH#it would have made more sense to like. find the painting stowed away in their basement or something#like at least then they wouldn't look so cruel and cold. it would be more like they just didn't know what to do with it or something#they were literally just upset it didn't have their faces on it#it's just. seeing that painting thrown away never fails to make my blood boil. the Stanghorn's motivations are all over the place#they never make any sense and then they have the AUDACITY to (even after the end of the questline when they're supposedly not mad at him)#call Ravaedron 'thick headed' and 'unwise' and 'maddening'#they are awful characters. a pain to interact with and the 2nd worst written characters in the Angle (which is saying A LOT)#and the worst part is I *know* how to fix this questline! you just need to change how that first instance goes and a few other things#and then the Staghorns don't look so racist and awful and the conflict between them almost makes sense#I'd need to write a whole post about that but I don't want to because I don't want to think about this quest

We ought to write more Pokemon fic some time. We want to recreate the Pokemon Manners/Human Manners cheat sheet that we made a few years ago we think that this site would like the Sliding Scale Of Politeness When Greeting A New Pokemon You've Never Met Before.
#we speak#writing#we grew up with pmd games and we feel like the way that pmd pokemon's dialogue tends to be excessively... direct?#should be a feature and not a bug when any pokemon that you meet might be totally unfamiliar with your species and biology#it's probably very polite to start up front with some basic facts about yourself so they know how to act going forward#the very upfront feel to dialogue also very much helps with keeping the dialogue feel more... pokemon#people mock the series for weird npc dialogue a lot but we think that taking these things literally makes for more fun society building#it doesn't all have to fit with socially acceptable for our world we think. polite in our world isn't even consistent by household.#sometimes a polite interaction sounds like “hello! i'm poochyena! i like to chase people and bite!”#name and immediately socially useful information. now you know about the chasing people and biting so you don't assume it's rude#of course poochyena bites and chases people. it likes to do that. you can say you don't like that and it might stop doing that to You#but it will not stop biting and chasing people because that's what it likes to do and it will probably only befriend people okay with that#it makes a very specific dialogue feel that's very fun to do. we like how the pokemon world tends to treat any sort of like#disability or “weird” things as something that you just say out the gate and everyones like “oh okay”#and then treat that as Part Of Interactions going forwards. there are a surprising amount of parts of the pokemon manga#that are dedicated to working around a character's disability after one or all of their means of dealing with it get taken out#admittedly we aren't that caught up on newer content but we find the way that it tends to be just Accepted as very refreshing#making the dialogue this direct does also tend to make it read as more “childish” in english and particular because a lot of Maturity's jus#learning how to dance around what you're saying or phrase it in different ways to get your idea across differently#whereas here everything is just as direct as possible. “i don't like charmander”. “i like roasting berries”. “i want to dig things up”.#all pokemon dialogue tends to go towards being exceedingly simple and it makes for some very distinct writing#especially when you have to tackle complex situations with characters who probably dont employ that sort of vocabulary#though we personally enjoy doing this sort of stuff your mileage may vary ofc#we are biased towards this sort of thins because we find it MUCH more fun to build up what we're talking about from blocks#than to like. try and use more indirect wording that may lose things in translation#unfortunately this is not fun in irl conversation. everyone has to be on the same page and you need to use the same playbook to communicate#we REALLY wish people said what they meant though. we're really tired of being asked shit like “is this accessible”#when what they mean is “can you climb these stairs” a question which depends on the day our energy level and how things have been going#there are a lot of things we could say that would make us feel like some sort of anti sjw type guy and a lot of em boil down to just#"for the love of god dont dance around a Sensitive Topic just get to the point and ask us about it this just makes things harder for everyo

Whoa tree kangaroos are so cooool!! Do you happen to know any fun facts about kinkajous or binturongs or pangolins? All animals I love but don’t know much about
Very good choices, and interestingly very similar animals! Tree kangaroos, kinkajous, and pangolins all fill a very similar ecological niche. Small to medium arboreal mammals (though some pangolins are terrestrial). But from different areas, speaking phylogenetically (and geographically I suppose haha).
Kinkajous are from Central/South America, and are from the order Carnivora (the order which has canines, felines, bears, etc). They are related to raccoons, though not super closely.
Binturongs are also from Carnivora, but are from Southeast Asia. They're from one of my favorite families, Viverridae, which has some really interesting critters such as civets and genets!
Pangolins, meanwhile, are the only living species of their order. This means that they don't have any particularly close living relatives. They live throughout Africa and South Asia.
Binturongs and Kinkajous also have rather similar diets. Despite being carnivorans, they mostly eat fruits. They do eat meat, but it's not the majority of their diet. Pangolins on the other hand are insectivores, specializing in ants and termites, much like anteaters!
They're each really fascinating animals by themselves, and pangolins are especially unique. Apparently, Binturongs and Kinkajous are the only members of carnivora with prehensile tails!

I have never seen a binturong or a pangolin in person, though I would love to! I have interacted with a kinkajou before. They have a very strong smell, which reminded me of pretzels. They also have very sharp teeth and a lot of curiosity.

unfair child having and child care are so asymmetrical for humans .i guess for lots of species really but were at least able to reason and do things abt it yknow. like its one of those things that make nature seem really deeply unfair even tho its just a result of evolution like everything else but i guess its just deeply frustrating how poorly weve organized society to at all make up for it. especially w the way labor and society and economics work now. like its such an obvious asymmetrical weight on women and its for real so crazy the efforts to equalize that load have been non existent or a total joke, in part bc of backwards social attitudes but also bc muh econony excuses. its so...short sighted.
