#not art (yet!!!!)#preddy good kristen I got goin on in this piece#for some reason my brain isnt letting me do this one. been stalling on it for a good few days. but I intend to break thru it#I need to put this on paper at least once#(its space sweepers. I think it would be funny if the kids are in that universe too but theyre just like off to the side doing their own#thing pretty much unrelated to the main plot. theyre delivery people. theyre all still teens. they get up to shenanigans and then#one day they look up like huh the guy who founded eden fucking died?? when#kristen specifically I got a decent amount hashed out in my brain somehow. she's like an engineered messiah with a grafted engine#along her upper body skeleton that'd let her spontaneously rearrange objects on a molecular level#so she can theoretically knit wounds or cure diseases by thinking abt it very hard#sadly the engine of course takes enormous amount of energy to power. so most of the time in practice she just#has a half-metal skeleton that doesn't do anything. so she's buff as shit on the upper side and one of her punches can break your neck#but her mobility is limited and she sprains her ankles like every other week. her shins have broken like a few times#I genuinely love the way her shoes n braces look in this one its very fun#there are a lot of choices I made in this one that are so fun and also just like. a result of putting them in space sweepers#and thinking to myself here and there hey this would be cool if it harkens back to their canon designs#not riz tho other than being human he is fully exactly like how he looks in canon. hes just like that#hes the navigator and he charts their courses by hand with a school calculator#(also technically their legal counselor since he's sorta responsible for not putting them in traffic control's hands)#drawing this does make me realise a lot of these dynamics are really fun lol. idk if Im gonna ever do anything like proper for this but#at the very least if I draw this the idea will be out there)

so i started this show and it just gets worse and worseeeee not only did it lift the romance subplot directly from twilight (and not well) but they also are trying to play the forbidden love angle hard in the fantasy racism vein except it's a "cross-species" relationship between the two whitest people i've ever seen in my life and there are three people of color in the whole (first season of the) show who aren't villains and it seems that every other episode (and sometimes ebery episode and sometimes twice an episode!) there is a man physically or magically subjugating a woman and i keep waiting for the big reveal at the end to be stolen from fucking rainbow rowell

it is completed. The matches on the far outsides will be competing first, in 24 hr polls before they move on to go against the competitors on the inner brackets.
Round 1a polls will be posted SATURDAY JULY 15 (probably like 1pm pst or something), and Round 1b polls will be posted probably a couple days after that.

#gonna talk abt the seeding process in tags lol#ok so i didnt do formal seeding bc.... i have no idea how with this shit.#but i started by putting the 4 eps that made the cut in the 4 corners and faced them off against their own band (mostly)#then i filled the rest of the outsiders with artists who only had one release or ones that are generally less well known/liked (cough. patd#the inners were a lot tougher. im not even that happy with how all the seeding ended up but i tried to make it as fair as i possibly could#as well as tried to stick to the idea of high scorers vs low scorers and then middle scorers vs middles. Again didnt ALL work but i tried#i also am not familiar with four year strong at all so i based their seedings off of how their albums charted. hopefully its fair enough#potential 1a winners were considered when placing 1b ones in the spots where theyd face one off#i will not lie at all and say that my bias for certain albums is evident in this seeding. like i fixed this once 4 months ago, dealt with licensing depts to fix it but never again, we have pdfs and .ai documents filled with guidelines.. which fonts...... which colors... what sizing and proportions allowed

TIL that my right eye had gone haywire and shit
#story time! because im annoying#so today is my first day of clinical posting this semester and im posted to eye clinic#so we did our assessment (which the marks not as high as i expected) which are performing visual acuity test and instil eye drops#and when my friend did the visual acuity test on me my right eye vision is shit even when im wearing my glasses#it was 6/18 (which in the snellen chart i only managed to read until the 3rd row)#my left eye is okay and i thought i was tripping tbh#my ci thought my glasses' power increases as hell so she sent me to the low vision specialist part of the clinic#the ophthalmologist mention a medical condition idk the name and did the test like you would when you want to buy prescription glasses#the one where you wear a weird glasses and they keep on changing the lenses and ask you if its clearer or what#ANYWAY#turns out that when i was younger apparently the shop i made my glasses did the wrong prescription glasses#like my left eye was right but my right eye was wrong and it made my right eye turn to shit#so my power for my left eye is 300 while my right eye is 600+#but they cant give me the 600 on my right eye because then it will autocorrect#like if i occlude my left eye i can see the it clearer but as a pair of glasses it will be hard to read as the words will merge and all#so what the glasses shop i got my latest glasses did is they balanced the power on each side so that i can see better#thats why when i did the visual acuity test my right eye is shit because my glasses is made that way to balance it#its a really good news though because i thought that i need to buy new glasses#he did mention that my 'silau' increases tho but that's fine#the more you know 👀#personal.txt

the older i get the more confused i become in regards to my identity.
#z escribe#i have been aware that i was adopted from a young age. heck i knew before my mom told me because i watched the health channel#and i rmbr they showed a skin color chart and i pieced together...two white parents don't equal a brown kid#and i thought that the colorblind mindset was a proper one to be brought up with. obviously not as i experienced racism in elementary.#and was extremely confused why 'other' white kids didn't see me as white either...well no shit you're not white baby aza#and i went through a radical phase during middle school. hating all white people. but then my mom's white fragility deterred me from that#as any time i would voice my anger she would... quite literally in tears... try to reason with me and be like ''but i'm white people...#do you hate me?'' to which i would always have to soothe her. and honestly i have become comfortable in identifying with mixed.#it is a comfortable identity because i have grown up without any specific culture (outside of american. which. how does one even begin to#define the complexities of such an identity... the way that american as a nationality transcends as it becomes a civil religion.)#anyways. i have been thinking about a guy at a party and our conversations. and how we got to our identities and i instantly...#out of habit really. told him ''well i'm half mexican or indigenous too... but i mean it's not like i'm really latin.'' and he was like.#''no azaria. you are. don't diminish yourself and your ancestors just because you weren't able to grow up around that culture''#his comment made me think about my identity once again after a long time of not wondering what it means to be Me.#and i recently submitted a paper for an internship. and god. i was reading it to my white mom. and after i read the concluding paragraph#she asked me to read it again. to which i did. and then after a pause she sighed and said i was being ''too angry''#and when i asked her to elaborate she simply said ''well it makes it sound as if white people are evil''#mind you. my application paper is about working at a museum for african american/black art preservation. like. art history is so deeply#saturated with colonialism and racism??? and she just chose to ignore that point of my paper and focus on me critiquing her fellow white#people. and to categorize me as the 'angry black person' are you Fucking kidding me. but then even with that she was like.#''i just don't get why you're so angry. you're not even black. i mean. you don't look black at all. you look mexican''#she constantly wants my identity to be simple. to be watered down. to be digestible.#i am the product of a biracial mother and fully latin/indigenous father. that is the truth of my identity. i will NEVER be perceived as#white.#but after that i just felt so incredibly shitty and called my sister and she told me what our mom said to her that day too. and i said#something along the lines of ''sometimes i feel as if mom thinks we owe her for adopting us.'' and my sister agreed.#it broke me. it really did. to know that i am not being overdramatic in my thoughts. to know that i am not simply being ungrateful.#my sister says that she copes with it by reasoning that our parents are born in the 40s and times were a lot different then. but it is hard#for me to constantly excuse their racism and ignorance towards my identity. both regarding my queerness and ethnicity.#i am so tired. so so tired.

All true, and something that makes being disabled in medicine if you can sneak in (which is pretty much only if you can hide your disability) a neverending slew of inaccessible spaces, absurd requirements, and microaggressions
yes, doctors suck, but also "the medical ethics and patient interaction training doctors receive reinforces ableism" and "the hyper competitive medical school application process roots out the poor, the disabled, and those who would diversify the field" and "anti-establishment sentiment gets applications rejected and promotions requests denied, weeding out the doctors on our side" and "the gruesome nature of the job and the complete lack of mental health support for medical practitioners breeds apathy towards patients" and "insurance companies often define treatment solely on a cost-analysis basis" and "doctors take on such overwhelming student loan debt they have no choice but to pursue high paying jobs at the expense of their morals" are all also true
none of this absolves doctors of the truly horrendous things they say and do to patients, but it's important to acknowledge that rather than every doctor being coincidentally a bad person, there is something specific about this field and career path that gives rise to such high prevalence of ableist attitudes
and I WILL elaborate happily

#nurse made us put a lady to bed with 17 minutes left of the shift#said lady has severe dementia that has gotten significantly worse#couldnt even undress her without a physical fight#screaming shouting biting scratching#it was like she was possessed#and when we go to tell the nurse shes like ‘we know what shes like’#NO YOU DONT!!!!!!!#she needs a better home more suited to her specific needs#but the nurses just brush off everything we say#and im fucking sick of it#i do not get paid enough to be abused like this and then for the nurses to not give a shit#its not the lady’s fault at all of course i just wish the people who are supposed to be at the top in this fucking place woulf listen#so i ended my shift being really fucking pissed off#we had 1 minute left of the shift when we finished and she had the AUDACITY to ask us to fill out intervention charts and behaviour charts#fuck AAAAALLLLLLL the way off lmfao#No.
