ALSO ERIN SILVER
Silver was such an important character too, like #1 ally when it came to Teddy’s coming out. That relationship, I really could go on FOR EVER
But also she was such an early depiction of BPD in teen media, and Off the Rails shows her episode so well. You feel the urgency Silver is feeling. Of course, like any other teen drama it disappears until it’s needed again for another story (like Adriana trying to use it to break Navid and Silver up buuuut we don’t talk about that)
ugh i really need to watch it again I can’t stop thinking about it

Fictional characters that definitely deserved better
Tumblr media
💪Jen Walters (She-Hulk: Attorney at law)💪
She-Hulk is one of those shows I enjoyed because of the vibes, no surprise that a bunch of dudebros were doing their usual hate on the MCU crap again, especially going after this show.
I like how the show made Jennifer relatable and likable from the start, Tatiana did such a amazingly performance as the titular character along with matching her sassiness and wit like she have in the comics.
The possibilities of She-Hulk season 2 are slim to none, but I still have hope of Jen coming back in the future.
Tumblr media
🛩️Andy Demayo (Steven Universe)🛩️
Even though he was kinda rude in his debut episode, but honestly, you would be confused and angry too if you see a bunch of strangers in your barn.
Besides Greg and the residents at Beach City, he rarely calls out Steven's dangerously daily lifestyle with the gems and shows that he cares about his recently known nephew.
After Gem harvest, he resolved the bittered distance and continue visiting his family, even showing at Garnet's wedding.
It was kind of a waste that Future didn't give him anything important to add, he would connect and helped Steven's dilemma with the fear of change, similar to his.
Also a hilarious fun fact, Andy's VA is Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Tumblr media
🐁Splinter (TMNT 2012)🐁
Honestly one of the most tragic characters in the show, from a broken man who lost everything, to a loving and protecting father who found a new lease on life, along with a family that care for each other to the very end.
He can be strict but he does care about his family and would die fighting for them, he literally died to save them and would do it again if he have to.
Hoon Lee's electrifying portrayal speaks for itself and the critical juncture of his past that parallels him and Shredder is another reason why the show is underrated.
I hate the backlash that this character has been getting and that people are labeling him as a bad father but he's not, the show literally has moments of him caring and protecting his family from danger.
Tumblr media
🕸️Miles Morales (Spider-Man)🕸️
Without a doubt, Miles is one of the best Spider-Man characters of all. Pretty disgusting that people are using with the whole Miles Morales is Miles Morales crap to hate on a character that brings a new meaning for a iconic role model for kids.
Into and Across the Spider-verse done a outstanding job, making Miles's personal journey and growth so emotional and inspiring.
Sucks that the third film is going to take a long time to premiere, but at least the PS4 games also give him justice and continues shining Miles.
Miles Morales will forever be one of the best Spider-man, it just sucks that some people won't accept him continuously, but in some way at least there's some people who actually respect him as a character, knowing that he is in forever will be Spider-Man and that makes it him amazing.
Tumblr media
📋Lois Lane (My Adventures with Superman)📋
My Adventures with Superman is a show that should be talked about especially on how well written it is, the show adapted Lois very well, along with her budding romance with Clark.
I literally hated how Lois gets treated like garbage by a certain amount of people after the whole secret identity thing, the show does prove that Lois is flawed and complex in a good way, making her likable and relatable, she makes mistakes but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing, everyone does.
The latest episode of season 2 really proves that Lois is a good character, showing her empathetic past and complicated relationship with her dad.
Also, Alice Lee's fun performance as the character is just top notch, whether she's happy or sad, she just nails Lois's character without a doubt.
Tumblr media
🧬Morty Smith (Rick and Morty)🧬
This boy has been through enough, with neglectful parents, a sister that does care about him but is focused on her own life, Rick cares sometimes, but can be a real jerk. Morty is more you can be his own person the truth is some things can be holding him back, mostly his grandfather.
I'm glad that Rick is trying to change for the better, I remember I hated the way he treated Morty thoughout the seasons whether using verbal or physical abuse, it also sucks when he tried to do something good yet the universe basically just throws it back at him like a giant middle finger.
I'm glad that the later seasons proves that Morty could be a badass and he can handle himself, but I hope when the new season drops, they find a way to handle his trauma because he deserves a hug.
Tumblr media
🎳Wade Whipple (The Sonic franchise)🎳
The Sonic films are underrated but it's problem is that it gets dunked on, especially thanks to a so-called outside of the box thinker.
But unlike the other live action films with bland and boring human characters, the human characters in Sonic are actually likable and memorable, among them is Wade Whipple.
I really don't think he's one of the worst characters in Sonic, honestly his sister and dad deserves to be on that list.
Honestly people hate him just because he have more screen time than Knuckles but one, because it's a TV show budget and Knuckles is in the show, they are acting like he never was in the show.
Two, at least it added layers and flaws that made him even more relatable and serves a purpose to Knuckles's journey.
Like with Tom and Maddie with Sonic, his friendship with Knuckles is another core example of why Knuckles work and his actor, Adam Pally's performance was great too.
Tumblr media
🔪Sam Carpenter (Scream 5 and 6)🔪
Sam is another character that deserves more attention and respect than before, partially thanks to her actress.
Aside her rough past and learning the dark truth about her family, Sam cares about the people she loves and isn't afraid to fight for them, even fighting her own personal demons just to do so.
Melissa Barrera is a underrated actress, though Her performance in part 5 was good, I think she was just basically outperformed by everyone else, and it didn't help that she was getting bullied and criticize by bunch of toxic fans.
Scream 6 gave Sam justice and proves that she's a badass final girl, especially thanks to the crew and cast of the films who care and was there for her but thanks to a certain company that fire her for doing the right thing, what's the point of even watching Scream 7 without her and the core four but the good thing is at least it gave her and Sam a bittersweet ending.
Tumblr media
🐝Chloe Bourgeois (Miraculous Ladybug)🐝
This one is a completely personal rant, I used to be a fan Miraculous. But after watching the season 3 finale, I feel like the magic of the show just basically disappeared, and seasons 4 and 5 was a huge sign that the show fully gone off the rails.
I remember hating Chloe in the first season and I'm pretty sure everyone else felt the same feeling too, but season 2 actually did the the most surprising thing, actually gave her some character development.
It might be baby steps but still development, she might have been spoiled and selfish sometimes but they actually do show that she has flaws.
Malediktator was one of the best episodes of season 2, they were able to showcase Chloe's vulnerability and it prove that she can change and still be a useful ally like the other miraculous holders.
She protected her friend from getting akumatized again, she almost got Mayura's miraculous, and heck, She literally defied Hawkmoth's control, unlike the other akumatized victims, that is basically spells hero-worthy.
But of course as always, Thomas is just too spiteful and that thinks that Chloe is not just worthy and replaced her with a bland, forgettable and useless character who only exists just because she is "better" than Chloe.
It's honestly just pathetic that her corrupt father who spoils her and the literal villain of the show, who done some horrible and awful things get a redemption arc, but a literal misunderstood child doesn't, it just proves that the writer's room just don't even know how to handle character development nor redemption arcs.
It's even more sad that the film actually treats Chloe better than the show does.
The truth is whether do you like or don't like Chloe, it's possible that she can change, it's just that Thomas is the actual problem of the show, I hope one day somehow Chloe might actually get a actual chance to shine as a character again but maybe in the future it could still could happen.

I'll play! :) What was your very first fandom?
Ooh, this is fun. Great question.
I always rooted for the unexpected couple like Chloe + Clark, Chandler + Monica, Carter + Lucy, Carrie + Aiden, Sidney + Will, Joey + Pacey, etc.
But I really wasn’t an active “fandom” participant until ARROW.
I started watching ARROW during the second season in the spring of 2013. I had just been let go from a job I hated (no loss) and had all this free time. I had been scanning Twitter and a tweet popped up by jbuffyangel where she gave an in depth analysis of the latest episode of ARROW - like hard core analysis - down to the lighting and script- with a link to her blog here on tumblr.
I was intrigued. As I have mentioned before, my mom was an English scholar and she edited all my book reports and she always wanted me to “read below the surface” and to “find meaning beyond the obvious metaphors.” I always did very well when I could find a nugget and build a whole argument around it pleading my case with other aspects of the story as supporting evidence. Up until that point, I had never considered turning that critical eye towards a tv show. Jen had taken the teachings of my mom, and applied them to a tv show, with a built in mythology and this thing called “canon.”
I thought ARROW was such a random choice - why do I care about a second tier super hero on a second rate network (CW had just rebranded itself)? And her analysis was breathtaking. I had never seen an episode when I read her critique and I fell in love with Oliver and Tommy and Diggle and Felicity… and I now had a critical filter through which watch the show.
I love movies and tv shows - the idea of dropping out of my current state of existence and “being Andrea” and stepping into a whole new world, letting go of my deeply-rooted in science belief system and just getting sucked in to these new characters and their experiences was and still is like real world magic to me. I don’t care about the lighting or the staging, I just want a story to make me feel something.
I binged ARROW on Netflix and then watched it religiously through the remaining seasons. I was and still am an Olicity super fan. I donated money so an Olicity bench could be put up in a park in Vancouver. I watched every Facebook live with Stephen Amell learning about him and Oliver and the show in general.
I was part of the Olicity army that supported the show through all the show renewals, through the spin-offs, through the building of this whole universe of DC SUPERHeores- which is still a core part of the CW line up almost 10 years later.
The one area I never participated in was writing fan fiction. Oh I read a lot of it (gimme all the Bratva Felicity/Oliver stories please). But Chenford and the Rookie is what triggered in me a desire to actually write about episodes, and answer questions (like this one) and write stories about characters I see in my head. I am so grateful for that.
Chenford & Olicity 4 Ever!

MRS.EMILY AU FACTS/HEADCANONS:
*Mother of Charlotte and Sammy Emily *Married to Henry Emily
-Her name is Rose Clark . (Personality type: ESFP-A)
-175cm (5’7)
-Born 3rd of July, 1955 in Austin,Texas. . She moved to San jose,California when she was 15 and went to an art school there where she met Henry(Who at the time was taking a few classes there along side his university classes) They got engaged in 1977, and after Henry graduated from uni they moved to Hurricane,Utah together.
-Considers herself a freelance artist though she has never worked a day in her life for anything except when she helped do all the paintings/murals and advertising for Fredbear’s family diner.
-Started smoking at 18 and is a heavy smoker.
-Owns 2 guns, a pistol and a shotgun. Henry is very cautious about making sure they’re in a safe spot and no one has access to them except her.
-Not an empathetic or caring person, though she really tries to be. Even as a kid, if someone she thought was important to her came up to her and started crying and telling her a heartbreaking story, she wouldn’t feel anything, or any sort of emotion. As she grew older she learnt that she has to show atleast some kind of emotion or else people would think she was rude and stay away from her. . She has dated a lot of people before, a lot of them for a very short time, in hopes of ‘maybe if I fall in love with someone I’ll actually care about them and won’t have to pretend’ but none of her previous relationships really worked out, she stayed with Henry because he was just nicer than anyone else and she could somewhat sympathize with him. But it was easy for her to just leave him out of the blue because she didn’t recognize how upset he’d be and if she did, she couldn’t bring herself to truly care, even though she did love him a lot (My first language isn’t english so sorry if this didn’t make a lot of sense..)
-Her hair is naturally straight but she always and I mean always curls it
-Sammy was kinda like her favorite child, only because he was quiet and never made a mess, unlike Charlotte who from the moment she learnt how to walk, was very energetic and made a lot of messes everywhere.
-Left Henry the night that Charlotte was killed because he got very emotional and just completely mentally destroyed and she thought he was “too much” to handle. (She stayed in a hotel for a couple days then went to live in her parents house back in Texas)
-The day of her 30th birthday, she decided to visit Henry, after 2 years of leaving him. He wouldn’t answer the door and his front door was open so she decided to walk in herself, after a couple times of calling his name she heard him scream, she went in the living room and found that he had stabbed himself. With the knife that was meant to be on the robot he had built to kill him, though before turning it on and finishing it, Rose had come by and he kind of just snapped after hearing her voice and did it himself without the robot thing.
-Mrs.Afton(Mary) was her closest friend for many years, they met in highschool after she moved to California.
-She got along very well with Afton.
-She was alright with Jen, but would never consider them friends though, just acquaintances who may or may not slightly hate eachother.
-Knew how to sew really well and made a few clothes for Charlotte and Sammy. One of which Henry went on to give to Ella after Charlotte died.
-Would only ever buy Henry Roses and/or Rose shaped chocolates for Valentines because she thought it was funny

while the world ends around us (make believe with me)
6. I can’t even leave my room so I keep pouring AO3
And I've been looking for someone to put up with my bullshit I can't even leave my bedroom so I keep pouring And I ain't seen a light of day since, well, that's not important It's been long - Feeling Whitney // Post Malone
Lucas actually wakes up this morning.
It’s nice. Much better than laying against his wall all through the night, his eyes stuck on his laptop, watching Netflix or Youtube, or on his sketchbook, watching his pencil or pen or paint trailing across the page, leaving lines and smudges in its wake. And then looking up blearily when he realises he can see across his dark room because the sun is peeking through his blinds.
Today he wakes up when his phone starts buzzing and chiming next to his head, half under his pillow. It startles him, and he gasps as his eyes fly open, sitting up and muttering, “Jesus…” as he shuts off his alarm and tosses it to the floor next to him. It clatters against the wood and he winces, looking up at his door and running a hand through his hair.
He grabs food from the kitchen and eats it during his first class, scribbling the homework on a piece of paper he finds on the floor and doodling flowers and eyes as he forgets to pay attention. The teacher's voice turns into white noise.
- - -
He drifts off again in another class, and wakes up to a chorus of voices saying “Thank you,” and “Goodbye.” He doesn’t bother joining them, instead just clicking the hang up button and dropping his head to his arm, sighing and closing his eyes for a second before pushing himself up and groaning.
It’s the third red button he’s pressed just today.
He thinks about how many he presses a day.
Five classes, five red buttons.
Five days a week.
For weeks and weeks.
And weeks.
Christ.
Lucas huffs and pushes himself to sit cross-legged in front of the computer. He pushes it out of his mind, the remembrance that this is… it. All he has. This and a few texts from Kes and Jayden, usually about school or other kids from school, often complaining. Usually complaining. Sometimes he gets texts from Isa, silly selfies or pictures of birds. She knows he likes birds. Sometimes he gets texts from Noah, pictures of his art, drawings and paintings and doodles, or texts from Janna, which are never expected but always make him laugh. Sometimes Liv texts him just to check in.
It.
Homework and classes and red buttons and once-in-a-while texts from people he doesn’t see anymore.
And Jens, he remembers as his phone buzzes. And he smiles, but he really shouldn’t, so he pushes it away as he reaches to the floor and grabs the phone, reading.
guess what i’m making… 🥚🍳👨🏻🍳
He lets the smile push its way back onto his face (there’s no one to see anyway) as he shakes his head.
you didn’t give me time to guess, dummy
He lays on his back and holds his phone above his head, sighing as the bubble appears on his screen.
i’m impatient
Lucas scoffs, shaking his head again.
anyway good morning 😌, Jens texts a few seconds later.
good morning 🌞, Lucas responds even though it’s not really that sunny out. how are you today
well i woke up to my sisters arm hitting me in the face and i just burned an egg so that’s just kind of how it’s going so far you?
Lucas smiles again.
pretty dry so far but who knows
Like it’s a trigger, Lucas’s door swings open loudly and he tilts his head back, looking at his father upside down.
“...Yes?”
“You have to do the dishes, yeah?” he says flatly.
“But I did them last night,” Lucas says, still holding his phone above his head. He doesn’t look at it, even as it gives a short buzz with Jens’s response.
“And I brought dinner for you.”
“You brought chicken home and I cooked it.”
It’s true. Lucas had to Google how to do it, and it was the blandest, driest chicken he’s ever had, but it sufficed. There was nothing else in the kitchen he could have made. Back home, there’s usually things in the cupboard to micwave.
“Lucas—” His dad pinches the bridge of his nose and closes his eyes, huffing. Exasperated, like Lucas is the issue here. “Just do it.”
“Fine, whatever,” Lucas mutters, looking at his phone, but he doesn’t get to read the message before his dad snaps at him.
“Don’t whatever me,” he says sharply.
“Fine,” Lucas says, stopping him. “Yes. I will.”
He leaves without shutting Lucas’s door.
Lucas takes a second, huffing at the open hallway. He hates him. And he knows he Shouldn’t, because He’s His Father, but he can’t not. It’s his face. Even before Lucas knew about how much of a dick he is, his face told Lucas everything. Always angry, disappointed. Always bitter, like he tried to sue the universe and lost. His eyes always look pinched. Especially when he looks at Lucas.
He doesn’t know why, honestly. It’s not like he even really knows Lucas. Anything about Lucas that’s actually important. Not that Lucas would tell him anything important.
(He has a list of things he doesn’t ever plan on telling him. His being gay is the top one. He’s never heard his father talk about queer people, but he doesn’t have to to know that he’s probably a bigot. His art is another thing. He doesn’t want to listen to his father talk about how it’s not a Viable Career Option, or how it’s a Waste of Time.)
He looks at his phone after a second.
😔 boring days suck wanna call later and do hw together?
Lucas exhales, trying to sigh away his frustration.
yes ofc you said you can do math right?
He shuts the door (quietly) while he waits for Jens’s answer.
i’m a math genius call me fuckin newton
Lucas scoffs, shaking his head as he sits back on his mattress, leaning back so his head falls off the edge, upside down.
great so that means you’ll do my hw for me
Lucas bites his lip, trying to suppress the smile that appears in anticipation as Jens types.
hmmmm what’s in it for me?🤔
uhhhhh moral support
Lucas grins as you amaze me appears on his screen, followed by oh i can teach you math, which promptly makes him roll his eyes and reply with an exaggerated uuuuuuggggggghhhhhhhhh.
Jens replies with oop i gotta go, and then, as Lucas prepares to send the eye-rolling emoji, see you after school🙃.
Lucas sends the emoji anyway, along with you’re the worst.
A few seconds later, his phone buzzes with love you too <3 , and his lingering smile falters. He sits up, swallowing and setting the phone down.
Because the pause in him, the skipped beat of his heart, the way the words tug at him even as he reads and rereads and rereads them, even as his brain knows the irony, the playfulness, the mindlessness in Jens’s saying it, can only mean one thing, and he hates himself for it.
Lucas is fucked.
- - -
So he ignores it, of course. It can’t be happening. It can’t. He’s known Jens for a few days. There’s no reason for his stomach to flutter the way it does when he gets a text from him, or when his name lights up his computer screen on Google Meets.
“He-ey,” Jens sings when Lucas answers, and a smile flickers across Lucas’s face involuntarily.
“Hey.”
“How you doing?”
“Fine,” Lucas answers, neglecting to mention the rest of his day, which was absolutely not fine. The door slams are still ringing in his head. “You?”
“Eh.”
“Hm,” Lucas chuckles. “Hey, who's your maths teacher?”
“Clark,” Jens says, looking at Lucas with his pixelated eyes. Even glitchy and blurry, Lucas can see that he’s beautiful.
“Great,” he says, ignoring it. “Have you done homework for lesson seven?”
“I absolutely have not,” Jens chirps. “I can do it and show you how to solve the problems.”
“Absolutely not.”
“Mhmm.” Jens puckers his lips, nodding and furrowing his brows. “Mhmm, mhmm. Well. I could do it and send you the answers.”
“That sounds great,” Lucas says, sarcastically sweet.
Jens snickers, reaching past his laptop, and Lucas watches as the collar of his shirt falls, a section of his skin exposed before he sits back, pulling a messy notebook, loose papers hanging out of it, and calculator with him.
“Wanna read while I work?” Jens asks, oblivious to the heat in Lucas's chest.
“Oh, yeah, I can do that.”
Lucas barely even processes the words he reads to Jens, his brain somehow paying more attention to the quiet, hushed murmurs of numbers coming from Jens.
He hears Jens mutter, “Divide by six…” and click his tongue in thought a few times just as Lucas reads, “‘...like moths against the whispering and the champagne and the stars.’”
He listens to Jens intently, even though half (or maybe just a quarter) of his mind is on the book, and even though he only catches every few words. Some words, sixty, sixteen, seventy seven, are sharp and cut right through their connection. His murmurs are nearly completely unintelligible, but Lucas listens like he’s actually trying to learn something.
It’s not until Jens says, “Lu?” softly, that Lucas realises he’s stopped reading completely, the book fallen shut in his lap with his index finger holding the page loosely, and he startles, looking directly into Jens’s eyes. His face burns up at the nickname, and at the fact that he had been so enraptured by Jens muttering maths to himself that he had forgotten completely to read.
“I— Yeah, sorry,” he says, looking away and opening the book, hoping Jens can’t see how hot his face is.
“Why’d you stop?” A smile is spread across Jens’s face. Like he knows.
“I—” Lucas stutters again. “You seemed to focussed, I didn’t wanna distract you.”
“Aw.” Jens tilts his head. “That’s sweet.” There’s a pause, and he looks down, flipping a paper that’s out of Lucases sight, before he says, “I’m almost done, I can send you pictures after so do this one.”
“Yeah,” Lucas says, trying not to let out another stammer. His face burns again. He hadn’t realised how long he’d been listening.
Jens clicks his tongue as he thinks again, and Lucas hears the clicking of his calculator and the scratch of his pencil on paper.
“Add on both sides,” he says quietly, and then, “Oh, that’s not right,” flipping his pencil over to erase it.
Lucas snickers.
“Don’t you laugh at me,” Jens says, a smile playing at his lips. “You know you can’t do better.”
“You’re not wrong.”
When Jens finally finishes the problem (he has to try again two more times; he’d skipped the problem to leave it for the end when he’d started) he texts pictures of it to Lucas, and Lucas closes the book, folding the corner of the page.
He can feel Jens watching him as he copies down the answers.
“Number four is seventy three?” he says, zooming in on the photo.
“Thirteen,” Jens says, his voice softer than Lucas expected.
“Oh, that makes more sense.” Lucas writes it. “Why the hell do your ones look like sevens?”
“I don’t know,” Jen says defensively, making a face. “It’s never been a problem before.”
“It’s weird.” He’s met with silence. “If you’re making a face at me, I can’t see it.”
Jens lets out a laugh, and Lucas grins. If sunshine made a sound, it would be Jens’s laughter.
“How do you know me so well?” Jens asks, still laughing.
Lucas giggles, snorting and shaking his head as he looks up to see Jens’s face brightening even more.
“That was so cute,” Jens says lightly, and Lucas feels like he’s on fire.
“Shut up. What’s number seven? It’s cut off in the picture.”
“Oh, shit, sorry. That’s…” Jens’s brows furrow. “Six, four… one—”
“You thought it was a seven, didn’t you?”
“Shut up. One point three two.”
“Thank you-u-u.”
Jens is quiet as Lucas copies the rest of the answers. He shakes his head at how messy Jens’s work is, shocked and honestly impressed with how his brian works, numbers and lines scattered across the page, the answers in neat, little boxes.
“Do any new drawings?” Jens asks abruptly as Lucas copies the last one.
“Huh?”
“Have you drawn anything new?”
“Uh..” Lucas finishes writing the final answer and boxing it like Jens’s. “Yes?”
“Oh?” When he looks up, Jens is resting his chin on his hands, smiling. “Tell me.”
Lucas pauses, biting his lip. He’s only done one, and it’s ripped and crumpled and shredded in the corner of his room in a plastic bin.
“I did one, but it was shit, so it’s in the trash—”
“What was it?”
“Uh, that’s not important.”
“...Okay.” He says it softly. Lucas is grateful. “Can you show me a drawing? Or like a sketch, or…”
Lucas smiles. Jens is clearly out of his element. But he’s trying.
“I might have a picture,” he says, moving the maths homework away. “Most of my sketchbooks are still in boxes.”
“You haven’t unpacked yet?” Jens asks as Lucas scrolls though his camera roll, photos of Utrecht mainly, with a few of homework and screenshots of messages from the guys scattered in there.
“No,” he says simply.
“Why?”
“Eh.” Lucas finds one of a drawing and looks at it, contemplating. It’s a sketch of Noah that he did a little after moving. He’d meant to send it to him, even considered mailing it with a little letter and some Antwerp souvenirs like a post card or something, but he never did. He sends it to Jens. “I don’t really plan on staying here that long, just until this summer.”
“Oh. Oh, woah.”
Lucas beams without wanting to, watching Jens’s head duck as he looks at his phone.
“That’s so good, Lucas.”
“Thank you,” Lucas responds, his voice small. He shifts in his seat on the mattress, fidgeting as Jens looks up at him.
“That’s so good.”
“Who is it?” Jens looks back down, moving his fingers across the screen, and Lucas can tell he’s zooming in on the photo.
“My friend from Utrecht, he’s an artist too.”
“Oh!” Jens looks up again. “Speaking of artists. I have a friend I think you’ll like.”
“You think I’ll like him because he’s an artist?”
Jens drops his phone.
“I think you’ll like him because he’s a cool guy, and you already have something in common.”
“Okay, that’s fair.”
“You wanna meet him?” Jens asks, almost excitedly.
Lucas stares at him, tilting his head.
“Not in person,” Jens says. “Obviously.” He makes a face. “Sometimes we have, like, a group Zoom call with the guys, do you wanna join sometime?”
Lucas pauses, hoping Jens can see the despair in his face.
The guys.
“Uh— Yeah, why not?”
Jens beams.
It makes the screen glow brighter.

Happy Fanfic Writers Appreciation Day!
It’s still this day for like a few minutes longer where I am, so I thought I’d use the time to shout some peeps out with a mini fic rec list! I am woefully behind on reading fics because I read so slowly, but these are ones that I’ve had the chance to get caught up with/can’t get enough of. Also thank you to all the writers in t100 fandom who have become such great friends. We’re all in this together, and I feel so blessed to interact with you all. 💕 This rec list is mostly Bellarke, but there are a couple Memori things on here, as you all know me by now lol.
The Cockroach by @mobi-on-a-mission (Memori, Rated T, one-shot) I will shout until the end of time about how great a writer Mobi is! And I absolutely love this fic she wrote for Chopped 3.0 that’s based off The Martian. Good angst, a fake marriage, and a little bit of yearning that we don’t always get with Memori since their canon relationship happened so quickly. Mobi is an icon, everyone please read her stuff because I said so!
I Found Peace In Your Violence by @eyessharpweaponshot (Bellarke, Rated M, multi-chap, ongoing) Jen has done it again! Legit anything she writes is a masterpiece, and I’m so excited to see how this all unfolds. Clarke has what’s known as “the kill gene” and her whole life is turned upside down because of it. Another fandom icon we don’t deserve, honestly.
first the parent-teacher association, then the world by @animmortalist (Memori, Rated G, one-shot) I’m like the biggest dad!Murphy advocate on the planet, and I love this fic where Emori and Murphy basically take over the PTA from Josephine. THEIR POWER! Of course it all starts as a joke, and then they begin to take it seriously/enjoy it. Bonus points because Ryn wrote one of their children saying, “But Mom is already a queen”. Because Emori is a queen, bye.
Power Over Me by @sparklyfairymira (Bellarke, Rated E, multi-chap, complete) I have never seen The Witcher in my life, but I so loved this fic! It was so easy to follow along without knowledge of the show, and of course the yearning that Bellamy and Clarke went through every time they were separated was amazing. And I loved all the different creatures that were incorporated for each character. Such a fun fantasy read!
Amor vincit omnia by @changingthefairy-tale (Bellarke, Rated T, multi-chap, ongoing) Madison absolutely delivers with all of her canonverse pieces, and there has only been one chapter of this canon-divergent fic where Bellamy didn’t get taken, but I am already hooked. I’m ready for angst with amazing payoff, and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next!
and i’ll never say i love you (but i meant it all along) by @bellamysgriffin (Bellarke, Rated T, one-shot) This one’s another fic from Chopped 3.0, and it was based off an episode of Black Mirror. I’m actually afraid to watch Black Mirror because I hate stories about technology, but this fic made me want to watch it! Clarke and Bellamy meet through a dating system and somehow keep finding their way back to each other. Super intriguing, and I loved every minute of it.

It’s officially October. I’ve always really liked it when it’s autumn again. The only thing is that it’s getting darker earlier on and I’ve never been too keen on the dark. The first year when I owned the cafe, I would be so terrified walking to the bus, that eventually I kept hailing cabs, because dealing with that stress on top of owning a cafe, was too much for me at the time.
Thankfully I have a very tough boyfriend now, who loves to pick me up. Today is no different, except that we go to my parents. For the first time in what seemed like forever, my parents have a night off and they really wanted us over for a late dinner.
Today it’s Jennie’s turn to close off, but somehow Raye managed to stick around. ‘When is your next date?’ Jennie asks.
‘Tomorrow,’ Raye answers, ‘but I think about cancelling.’
I stop in the middle of cleaning a table. ‘Jen, did I hear that correctly? Raye Clarke is thinking about cancelling a date?’
Jennie nods. ‘I’m still a little shocked. I can’t believe this is happening.’
‘Very funny,’ Raye growls, looking actually annoyed. Geez, what is up with her? ‘It’s just, he sounds so stupid. I was hoping his looks would make up for it. His looks were the only reason that I swiped right. But talking to him and calling with him, he is really stupid.’
For Raye to say something like that, means that either something really bad happened or that she is growing. ‘Are you okay?’ I ask.
She sighs. ‘My brother is coming home next week. My parents are really looking forward to it and they keep calling me, demanding I should at least stop by.’
Jennie and I exchange looks. We know Alex Clarke pretty well. He was about a year older than us, but somehow always managed to bully us through high school. I never understood why a nice girl like Raye had a brother like Alex. Alex would always make racist Asian jokes against me and he once cut off two of Jennie’s braids, causing her to shave her entire head..
‘I hate that guy,’ Jennie admits. ‘God, your brother is so fucking annoying.’
‘And he is introducing us to his fiancée.’
‘That bonehead has a fiancée?’ Jennie exclaims. ‘How is it possible that he is fucking engaged and we,’—she gestures to her and Raye—‘are single?’
Raye has been sad for too long, because she literally shakes it off. She always does that. Being sad isn’t something that happens to her a lot. She always says that she’d rather be fake happy than real sad. I really don’t know if that is such a healthy way of dealing with your emotions, but okay. ‘It’s not until next week,’ she states, ‘so no need to dwell on it. I’m going to cancel that Tinder date and you and I, Jennie, are going to hang out.’
‘You can’t just expect us to hang out together, last minute. Maybe I already have plans.’
‘You don’t,’ Raye says. ‘You honestly don’t have plans, like ever. I know you.’
The door opens and when we all look up, I see my handsome boyfriend in the doorway. Tiki and Oreo rush to me and when I crouch down, they push me on my back, trying to see who can lick my face the most. ‘I missed you guys too,’ I squeal and wrap my arms around the dogs. ‘Oh my God, I love you too, but you have to let me get up. John, please help me.’
‘Come here, guys,’ he says, patting his legs, so they look up and let go of me.
I manage to push myself up, only to see Oreo sneaking back to me. I scratch his head, causing him to smile at me. I love that cute smile of his. He is such a big fat baby, always curling up beside me on the couch and always wanting to get in bed with us, but John sends Oreo and Tiki out every time we go to sleep. Somehow he got through an entire year of dating without letting Tiki sleep in our bed and now that we have Oreo, he hasn’t changed his opinion about it. I personally wouldn’t mind if the dogs were in our bed, but John says that he wants me all to himself when we’re sleeping and to be honest, I think that is really sweet.
John walks up to me. ‘Hi sweetheart,’ he says, before kissing me on my forehead. ‘Ready to go?’
‘I am, let me just get my bag.’
I rush to the kitchen and after I collected all my stuff, including my jacket, I give Raye and Jennie a big hug. ‘Say hi to your parents from me,’ Jennie says.
‘Will do. See you two tomorrow.’
‘Bye mommy, bye daddy,’ Raye says and I glare at her. ‘It’s funny and you like it, admit it.’
I send her the finger and with John—who is enjoying this way too much—and our dogs, I walk to the car. While the dogs get in the back, John puts my seat in the right place, but he stops me before we can get it. ‘What is it, honey?’ I ask him.
‘I really missed you.’ He gives me a long kiss and afterwards pulls me in a tight hug.
This isn’t really how he usually is. I frown. ‘Are you okay?’
‘Can’t I show my wonderful girlfriend how much I love her?’
I lean back, so our eyes meet. His dark eyes are so full of love and I can’t help to fall even more in love with him. He is so gorgeous and my boyfriend. Sometimes I still can’t comprehend it. ‘Of course, but… I don’t know. Just wondering.’
I get in the car and when John sits next to me, I still can’t help but worry a little. He has a frown between his brows and when he holds onto the steering wheel, he is also a bit tense, his knuckles almost turning white. When he feels me staring at him, he looks to the side. ‘What’s up, sweetheart?’
‘I love you, you know that right?’
John smiles. ‘I do know that and I also know that you are worried, but please don’t. Going to your parents still makes me a bit nervous.’
‘Why is that? They love you, especially my mom and when you let my dad drive around in your Mustang, he instantly wanted you to be his son in law.’ I place my hand on his. ‘No need to be nervous.’
John parks the car in front of my parents home, but I stop him before he can get out. ‘How about that when we get home and you’re still tense,’ I whisper, ‘I’ll help you relax a bit?’
His eyes widen and a grin appears on his face. ‘Really?’
‘Yeah, I think a back massage could do wonders.’
He laughs, placing his hand on his chest. ‘You had me there for a second. That is just mean, Darcie.’
I stick out my tongue. We get out of the car and with the dogs we walk to the front door of the house that I grew up in. The door flies open, to reveal both of my parents. My mom nearly pushes me aside to hug John. Mom always wanted to two kids, a boy and a girl. My father once told me that three years before they had me, they were expecting a boy, but in the seventh month of her pregnancy, his heart just stopped beating. They never knew why he never survived and when I asked her at age five why everyone had sibling, except me, she threw her bowl filled with soup against the wall and yelled at me that I should’ve never ask a question like that again.
When I finally got a boyfriend, she thought that she’d treat her son in law like a real son, but she never wanted anything to do with Eric. She hated his guts and at the time I felt awful for not liking her as much as I used to. I mean, Eric was my boyfriend, wasn’t she supposed to be happy?
But the way she loves John like he is her son, though he is only ten years younger than her, warms my heart. I know a tiny bit about his earlier life, how he was an orphan. The way he was welcomed in my family, I know it means a lot to him. When he met my parents for the first time and we got back to the apartment, he told me about how wonderful it felt to belong in a family.
He never really told me anything about Helen’s family, but I feel like sometimes I shouldn’t ask too much about her. I always feel a bit guilty after talking about her, I don’t know why.
But knowing that he was happy to belong to a family and that he would do everything to keep all of us safe (he said so himself), it made me realize once again that John is a good man and that I should never let him go.
I give my dad a hug. ‘I missed you, dad,’ I say to him.
‘Oh, munchkin, I missed you too.’
‘You look tired,’ I note, looking at his dark circles under his eyes.
‘Tough case, that’s all. Don’t you worry about me Your old man can handle it.’
⟢⟡⟣
‘Mom, really?’ I ask her, when I see there are only three chairs at the table. ‘We have four chairs, I know that.’
‘One is broken,’ she lies without skipping a beat. No wonder she is one of the best attorneys ever. For a second I believed her, but I know my mom and I know she’s up to something. My dad and her sit each on a chair, leaving only one left. ‘You can sit on your boyfriends lap.’
Oh my God, I thought once you weren’t a teen anymore, you wouldn’t be ashamed of your mother—guess I was wrong. ‘Mom,’ I whine, ‘please.’
‘Oh Darcie,’ she says. ‘I really like you two together. How do young people call it? Sailing?’
I’m visibly cringing. She always does that, trying to keep up with trends. It was funny when I was young, it was embarrassing when I was a teen, but now I’m thirty one, I really want her to stop doing that. ‘Mom, first of all: it’s called shipping, not sailing. Second of all: John and I are already dating, no need to force us together.’
John can’t hide his amusement. ‘Come on, baby,’ he says, sitting on the only chair left. ‘It’s not so bad.’ He holds my hand and pulls me to him. Knowing I can’t win this (and I’m definitely not eating my dinner standing up), I plop on his lap and my mother, who is a grown woman of sixty, hides her smile behind her hand.
‘I can’t believe you,’ I say to her, but I wrap my arm around John’s shoulders. Not wanting to give this sort of behavior any more attention than it should get, I turn to my father. ‘So, dad, how’s work?’ I ask.
‘It’s okay,’ he says. ‘I’m defending the family of Whitney Bell.’
I’ve heard about that case. Whitney Bell was a twenty five year old woman, whose ex-boyfriend brutally murdered her and dumped her in Central Park. I just didn’t know my dad was defending her family. But come to think of it, I barely spoke him these last few weeks and though I think my parents are doing a great job with the people who they defend, I barely keep up with it, even when it’s in the news all the time.
At first I was a bit nervous to talk to John about this case, since… Well… You know…
But he sat me down and for the first time, he actually mentioned his work, without me asking for it first. He told me that he only killed men who were better off dead than alive. He would never kill a woman or a child and it kind of eased my mind. Not that I was scared that he would murder me.
‘Must be rough,’ John says, before taking a sip of his drink.
‘It is. Family cases like this, it always pains me when I hear their stories. I asked Whitney’s parents to bring a picture of Whitney, to show the jury. Though I asked for one, they brought all their pictures they have of her with them.’ Dad looks at his glass and adds: ‘Parents always do that. I get it, you know. If something happened to you, Darcie, I’d be dragging every picture I have of you with me, to show the jury.’
‘I’m sorry, dad,’ I whisper, but loud enough for him to hear.
‘Don’t be, munchkin. It’s nothing I can’t handle.’ Dad smiles, but I don’t buy it. He is stressing out. ‘Tomorrow in the late afternoon we’ll hear how he is being sentenced for life.’ He wants to sound like he’s got everything under control, but he fails miserably.
John must picked up on his nerves too, because he suggests: ‘How about you and I take a drive in the Mustang after dinner, Christian?’
‘That would sure ease my mind,’ dad laughs and thankfully it’s a bit more real this time.
We talk during dinner about the customers, John’s book binding (causing my mom to say she has some old books) and our dogs, who are curled up beside each other.
John and dad are about to go for a drive in the Mustang, but before John leaves, he picks up Tiki, since she really want to go with him and he presses a kiss on my cheek. ‘I love you, sweetheart,’ he whispers.
My mom manages to keep quiet, but as soon as the front door is shut, she asks: ‘When are you going to give me grandchildren?’
‘Mom! What the hell?’
‘Oh come on, sweetheart,’ mom laughs. ‘I know you are thinking about it. I mean, you call each other mom and dad.’
‘When we’re talking to or about our dogs,’ I defend myself. ‘I know you want grandchildren, but please, don’t say that sort of stuff when he is around. I’m afraid it might scare him off.’
‘Why?’ she asks. ‘I mean, he loves you dearly and I bet he wants kids with you. I mean, who wouldn’t?’
I can’t believe that last makes me blush. ‘I know that, but it is so far ahead in the future, I don’t want to think about it yet.’
Mom wraps her arms around me, giving me a kiss on my cheek. ‘Okay, I’ll shut up about grandchildren. But you are my favorite sail.’
‘Ship, mom, it’s called a ship. And just say couple, please. There is no need to “fit” in with the cool kids.’
‘Yet you knew exactly what I was talking about.’
‘That’s because I have high school kids hanging around the cafe all day every day. I need to fit in with the cool kids.’
We plop on the couch and Oreo stretches himself out, waddles over to us and sits between us.
‘Mom, be honest with me now. Is dad really okay?’
‘You know how he is,’ she sighs. ‘Gets too wrapped up in a case.’ Mom squeezes my cheek and whispers: ‘He’ll be fine after tomorrow, like he always is after he has won a case.’
Mom and I cuddle up with Oreo, who has been the sweetest companion so far, ever since we rescued him from the shelter. He eventually is sitting a little behind me on the couch, his head placed on my shoulder.
The front door opens. My father is laughing, but when I look at him, I see his eyes are swollen and a bit red. ‘Dad, are you okay?’ I ask him.
‘Yeah, sweetheart, I’m fine. Just hit my head.’
My mother stands up and wraps her arms around my father. ‘Oh nae wangjamin,’ she soothes, giving him a kiss on his cheek.
Tiki rushes to her big brother and jumps on top of him. He simply licks her face, not annoyed by her antics. He never is.
John walks up to me and scratches Oreo’s head. ‘Maybe we should go home,’ John says, ‘it has been a long day.’
I simply nod and when we announce that we’re leaving, my mom gives me a tight hug. When I hold my dad, I’m instantly worried again. This is not who he is, I hardly recognize him anymore. ‘I love you, dad and if something is wrong, just tell me, okay? I’m one phone call away.’
Dad nods. ‘I love you too, munchkin and I will call you.’

character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: ugh Sebastian but also dark Josie and her new love interest, although I don't hate her, I just don't care about her
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: I guess Penelope would fall under here but she isn't trash, just a misguided teen in love
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: RAFAEL give the boy some screentime!!!
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: again, not nasty, but I feel weird shipping Hope and Raf when she is dating his bff (ofc the ot3 could solve that problem 👀)
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: Hope x Lizzie, Hope x Landon x Josie, Jed x Kaleb, Landon x Raf, Josie x Raf, MG x Nia, MG x Kym. . . .we have some good stuff here that will never be tapped for potential smh
DC
the first character i ever fell in love with: Joey Potter XD
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: uhhhh i have a lot of the reverse but not really any that I now hate . .. .
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: maybe Pacey x Andie, but I do still like them, but the cheating storylines ruined them even if they felt out of character
my ultimate favorite character™: Pacey!!!
prettiest character: ack Joey but also Jen is so pretty too!!
my most hated character: I joke about Dawsons but really it is Pacey's dad and that terrible English teacher oh yeah, and Tamara
