This might be a very controversial take but Sybil being fat with no hair and Adora being weird about golems and Granny being old and a virgin and Magrat being ugly and Agnes being fat and Nanny being Nanny and Cheery existing does more for feminism than 90% of intentionally "feminist" media produced in the past 5-10 years actually

i haven't seen anyone do a clothes swap prompt so.. to the salon!!☝️ (i'm so sorry mutuals that i keep posting them the brainrot is unreal) SO
Chloe showing up to her first class of the day in a red sweatshirt with Red's heart emblem front and center. And the entire school, teachers and uma included, get severe whiplash from the amount of look backs they do because this is THE chloe charming, the personification of baby blue and to see her in a color that isn't white, gold, or blue is like hell freezing over, because why would she be wearing her roommates clothes because they're not dating (to their knowledge at least but they've been girlfriend for weeks).
And Red, poor red who has no idea why she keeps getting looks in the hallway, doesn't have a class with Chloe until before lunch and she hasn't seen her since that morning when chloe left for classes (and she's sure chloe didn't wear it out of the dorm). She walks into the classroom and goes stock still because there is her girlfriend sitting at their usual table, in her color in HER sweatshirt (which where the hell had that been, she's been looking for that for weeks at this point and Chloe has apparently stolen it the little thief). But now she has to sit through class while the love of her life (she knows it's still early to call her that but she'll never love someone as much as she does her bluey, her princess) is in her color and they have hours till they're back in their dorm and she can kiss her senseless and Red vows to give Chloe any article of clothing she wants as long as it's red, as long as it's shows everyone that chloe is hers
(chloe is still chipping away at adding blue to reds palette, because it's only fair)

deeply refreshing to see someone critical of Swift who also like, genuinely likes her. Like i'm neutral to positive on her, but the online discourse has been absolutely rancid. flipping between "Taylor Swift has never done anything wrong ever and she's a fucking genius" and "Taylor Swift is the worst lyricist of all time and also a bad person" is exhausting, so thank you for like. nuance or something lmao
not to make it serious for a sec but i genuinely think that being able to like things that are bad is really important. like I think that it's an important skill to be able to look at something and see what you personally enjoy about it and then take a step back and acknowledge that objectively it's flawed. and to also be able to acknowledge that liking something isn't necessarily an identity or a moral stance. and i think that fandom space in general could really benefit from more people taking the time to learn how to do that. it's okay to like things that are bad

in regards to the constant dismissal of his aroace identity, i hate it when alastor 'fans' say and use the excuse: "he's fictional, he won't get offended."
like, you're right, but it can and will offend us.
when you see yourself being represented on screen, of course you'd feel enthusiastic about it — representation allows individuals to see themselves reflected in the media they consume, validating their identities and experiences. but when so many people take that representation and decide to disregard and discard it, it is so fucking frustrating. we finally have another character to be part of the tiny amount of representation we have, but then people don't even care about how much it means to us? like yeah, alastor won't get offended because he's not real, but it frustrates and annoys us. do you realize that it's also technically invalidating the aroace community? that you're invalidating our feelings? imagine feeling like you're finally being seen because your orientation is finally being represented in media, and people just decide to blatantly ignore, discard, and invalidate it.
media has such a powerful influence on real life, representation being a prevalent factor of it. there are numerous posts that dictate how people went to watch a movie/show or read a book just because a character depicts their identity in it — obviously, being represented is an incredibly uplifting and validating experience.
which is why seeing an aroace character in a popular show is so meaningful to us because we live in a world where romance and sex are literally everywhere and prioritized above all else. (and it's pretty obvious that alastor's on the repulsed end of the spectrum, but even if he wasn't, at least make an effort to acknowledge his sexuality instead of continuing to portray him as allo; aroace folks can be in relationships but it's not going to be the same thing with allos' experiences.)
any and every representation matters, but why does that seem to stop at people under the aroace spectrum? like y'all can't even let us appreciate the scraps of representation we have. we barely have any, so are we really that dramatic for being upset at how people easily disregard and dismiss our identities that are being depicted on screen just like that? is it truly wrong of us to want to defend and maintain the little representation we have?

I love it when things like this happen. You can say that I have fallen in love — with life. With my own life, with my new life. All of it. - OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND, 1940
I was in love with Jimmy Stewart — crazy about him. It was a sort of high school pre-war romance. - OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND, 1947

yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.
to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!
i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.
also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.
they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.
they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.
i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.

After all that discussion touching on character death I want to note that I think Travis's self-imposed mechanic for Chetney rolling to see if he died of old age in his sleep is absolutely top-tier. On the one hand? Very possible he never rolls a 100 and this remains a running gag. On the other, if it does? Move of all time.

i think that it takes chloe an embarrassingly long amount of time (to her at least, in reality it was like a month) to come up with a nickname for Red that wasn't too cliche like the basic babygirl or darling (although Red absolutely melts for those, she's an absolute mess of a gay). Because while Red denies liking princess (she absolutely loves it, she'll never say that out loud tho), Princess is chloe's nickname so that one's off the table. (i know hearts is what's being used in some fanfics but that's really reds last name kinda like how Red calls chloe charming) until she come up with Cherry, because
1. cherries are red ("kinda on the nose princess" is what red responds with)
2. Red wears a cherry lipgloss that always makes Chloe's lips shiny and has her smelling cherries for the rest of the day
3. Because she's a hozier fan, and she's never chopped once from the cherry tree (she thinks about her girlfriend whenever she listens to work song)
4. Chloe has to explain to Red what the term "Cherry chapstick" meant one day which had the face of wonderland princess rivaling her hair and Chloe wheezing on the floor
5. she uses cherry blossom as a cute alternative, something she calls Red when her hair becomes pink from flamingo feather cupcakes
feel free to use this in your fics or personal hcs if you like
