for the WIP folder game: I love your Old Gods AU and would really like to hear more about what you have planned for it!

uh, plans... my plans? for an au? I don't have any plans ever (i say, like a lier)

So currently I'm trying to work on a plot point that revolves around Celegorm and it's kind of his swan song for the series, if you will. As has been seeded out in some stories, Celegorm goes haring off to hunt down Eol and get revenge for what he did to Aredhel (who Celegorm is very in love with and no you can't change my mind about it). Unfortunately, leaving his family's protections behind and having a lot of dark thoughts along the way is not good for him, and the Entity (already connected to him due to a childhood encounter) starts worming It's way into him.

As you might imagine, things don't go great when he eventually comes home. Beyond the Entity's growing influence over him, he's seen and done a lot of things that are at odds with how he was raised, and he doesn't want to go back to who he used to me. One of my C+C week stories is set during this period and I love that it's setting up how wrong things feel when Celegorm comes back. Something that isn't explicitly said in that story (figured I can reveal it now) is that Celegorm has started killing small animals for fun.

Anyway, things are going to progress and he's going to do something Really Bad in town. The family finds out, Feanor and he have a fight about his behavior, then he takes his horse and favorite dog (Huan, of course) and leaves. Without any defenses against the Entity, It consumes him.

And, well, that's kind of the end of him being an active character in the series. Astute readers will mark that he comes back to the family but thanks to time enthralled to the Entity, he isn't really doing much any more.

Fun fact (that might never get in a story): Huan leaves Celegorm and becomes Legolas's pet!

Not fun fact: Celegorm eats his horse.

not confident on how “canon” or in-character this is but- I HAD FUN this AU has really got me in the rendering spirit, I really enjoy taking inspiration but also adding mu own silly twists on it and AAA everything looks even more tasty now

I view this as them in New Home after getting something to eat (after the last page update) and heading back the same way since Alphys’ place is on the way to The Lab. The font convo comes back up again and then yeah

also i never poster about this- but i had another forgettable dream. it didn’t make any godamn sense. I woke up and drew the only scene I could remember:

Wingdings and Sans had a fight and ig wingdings killed Sans 😭😭😭 in a stairwell for some reason

and current Sans, Papyrus brother Sans, is like watching all of this and was brought here by Lancer like a Ghost Of Christmas Past type situation. Idk why. I choose not to attempt to make sense of this anymore. But i swear this is an actual dream i had 😭

things didn’t work out with the Mothman

I don’t think the siren mentioned in Lost Legends that Ford had dated ever had a name, so I’ve decided to call her Penelope because silly Epic reference

I found those deleted storyboards from A Tale of Two Stans where it showed the siren and so I’ve decided to draw her my way based on those boards and do some sillies (5th drawing features my friend @pinkhibiscustea ‘s mermaid OC)

Tell me more about the old gods AU!

Okay, so this is another AU the @nighttimepatrons and I created (you'll notice a pattern there). The AO3 series has an overview description, so I'll try not to repeat that too much and just offer more tidbits.

This somewhat modern AU came about because Nightie finally saw reason and said Feanor can actually be a good dad and love his family and still have issues. Some of the initial ideas were inspired by aspects of Old Gods of Appalachia, which is how it got its name. It's since inadvertently become a bit of a critic of Manifest Destiny.

The series follows Feanor, Nerdanel, and their children/grandchildren as they live in an isolated homestead on a mountain while a malicious/destructive supernatural entity tries to escape its ancient prison in the mountain range. The entity is interested in killing or enthralling them, but Feanor isn't about to sit back and let that happen! (he's also not about to leave his home because it's HIS)

There's also some stuff with Oropher, Thranduil, and Erestor wanting to build a railway right through those mountains. Which, one can imagine, would not be a good thing with an evil being older than bones about to burst out into the world. (Given stuff with Eol and Aredhel, I've recently realized the entity could be Melian)

One of the things I like most about this AU is the chance to write a variety of tones and emotions, from awkward attempts at smut to happy kid fics to navigating social consequences of coming out as trans to terrifying delusions/hallucinations from unrecognized mental health issues to really uncomfortable looks inside the minds of nasty characters like Eol. Really, if I'm in the mood to write I can generally find something in this vast AU to dabble in.

An Average Night is probably still my favorite story in the au, though I wrote it really early on so parts have been retconned, but I haven't changed the original story because I like it so much.
