Carmilla and Sera dedicated relationship and utterly in love but Carmilla still choosing to fall to be with her girls instead. The two seeing each other again thanks to Charlie after decades apart, and the pain of knowing one chose their 'job' and the other their family over each other.

NOT THAT HE WASN’T GLAD THEY WERE HAPPY! Man upstairs no, they needed a break from that constant depressive atmosphere, and he missed seeing Unikitty all bright and carefree, her fur a nice soft pink compared to the harsh fiery red she’d been sporting for the past few years. As he continued to observe what was happening not like he had a choice it looked like the aliens weren’t that evil.
