We started a new D&D campaign today, West Marches style and set in the Bloodborne universe. I made a Paladin and because I DM a lot and I just came off playing a wizard I sort of set him up as a ridiculous joke character who’s a conspiracy theorist.

Well folks, as soon as I started actually playing this character he accidentally became a solid, responsible leader type with a keen interest in protecting the party and a motivation centered on righting injustice. I don’t know what happened but I think he’s in charge now? His name is Marten Van Der Sloot, he’s a 55 year old human with no sense of humor and I care way too much about him now by mistake.

Can you give us any info on what BB! Goosefeather’s Curse is like? I just read it and I’m interested to know how the changes to his character in bb affect that

I can see the Great Hunger being the tipping point for him and fate, realizing if he goes along with fate things might be better

In BB, Goosefeather and Pinestar's novellas have been rolled into one book; Pinestar's Crusade. Goosefeather is an antagonist in nearly every story he's in, after realizing that preparing for the Great Hunger only ended up making things worse. He comes to believe that his visions are instructions, and he dedicates himself to carrying them out to the letter...

No matter the cost. A sister. Clanmates. War itself. No matter what is done, it would be worse otherwise.

He's shattered when Pinestar's defeated prophecy comes true, and the fated hero Mosslight dies unceremoniously in the snow during Bluestar's Flowers. Bluemoon will NEVER allow ThunderClan to descend into chaos, she will protect her friends to the bitter end-- and seeing his life's philosophy proven untrue is a crushing blow to Goosefeather.

But before then, he's responsible the terrible "vision" that Pinestar "receives" about Tigerkit. It was just a nightmare. Goosefeather told a half-truth to stress him out enough to leave.

i get the gentle healer trope completely like i understand the appeal fo a character who drains themself for the sake of others of a character who is self sacrificing to the nth degree who dedicates their life to saving people, often at their own expense.

but also clerics are fucking crazy man especially clerics of death and the grave and stuff. i love clerics who cause more damage than they heal who can't touch without harming clerics whose blood runs necrotic and whose gods gifts are acid and poison and violence - not even evil clerics. people who are sworn to the dark and distasteful aspects of service, who perform their tasks with filthy hands, bloodstained faith.

people who are so devoted to their god they take on the things no one else is willing to do, who sacrifice their own innocence and their own peace in the name of faith.

Spending my sick time writing out my own ATLA creation myth which won't even be relevant until Book 4 of Fractures, but by god will it be ready when it is needed.

Staring at me, mockingly, is Baldur's Gate 3, currently open to literally right before the fight at the end of Act 2, as well as my outline for Fractures. Both are waiting for me and like a coward I refuse.

Karen is a warlock, Right is a cleric, Paul is a paladin, and Brent is a bard (so he can use bardic inspiration on Karen).
