Spider-man x Batfam Prompt's
Ok so lately I have seen a lot of "Spidy goes to gotham and gets adopted fics" probably cause of Dark Matter by mysterycyclone cause like, duh, that fic is a goddamn masterpiece. But I feel like a lot of them are sort of the same thing with diffrent fonts ans it feels a bit saturated. Not all of them...but most of them.
Am I saying that there needs to be less of these fics? Hell no! Keep writing them please. I just feel like there could be more variety is all.
I suggest maybe try one of these ideas out
1: Peter going straight to the Batfam or other heros (dosent always have to be Batfam) and they try to work together on how to get him home, while slowly realizing "omg, your life is terrible! We want to help you, we do, but maybe we shouldnt and try to give you a better life here. Then its just a moral delema on what to do as they get to know the spider child.
2: maybe another Spider-man is the one that goes to Hotham like Andrew or Toby. Insted of being sent home at the end of NWH, they where accidentally sent to the DCU. Or maybe one of the Spider verse characters or a cartoon version of the character. Dosent always need to be Toms Spider-man.
3: on that same note. Please give more love to What If...Zombies Peter. You guys have no Idea the amount of angst and "haha, my world ended and im fine" potental there is. And you can have the other surviving member also be there as they look for eachother (characters that "survived* (no one survived that episode) are Peter, King T'challa, Scott Lang+cape, and Ig Bruce Baner/Hulk, and Bucky Barnes since we never saw them get turned or eaten) just think about Spidey and the Batfam investigating a lab or sometbing and all of a sudden they find floating head Scott in a crate. Everyone if scared shitless while Peter is crying tires of joy as he moves to hug the floating head. Think about that and tell me Im not on to something here.
4: Have the fic start our like halfway through. Maybe skip him getting to Gotham and have him be there for a few months already or something. This will help with adding more crack fics.
5: Maybe have the fic be that Peter is there for a while, he knows everyone, they know him, they might or might not know the identitys but they trust eachother. And Peter has been looking for a way home and he finally finds it! But... he accidentally brings some of the Batfam with him. So now its the Batfams turn to learn to live in the MCU with help of Spidy and they finally understand so much about him, how he lived, and vigilanties he knows (team red!) As they learn the history and pubilc opinion or Spider-man and the world.
6: Just a react to fic. Yk, those fics where they're stuffed in a room and forced to watch something? Yeah. Have the Dark Matter cast stuffed in a room and watch some MCU clips. It dosent even have to be some magic forth wall bull shit if you dont like that. In chapter 44, Peter and co. are said to be going back to the cave, and Peter still have is suit. Canonically, Karen records everything. Maybe Peter ends up so tired he dosent even want to try to explain everything. So he just hooks up Karen to the computer and and has her show them everything from the suits recordings to security cameras and news reports, to the memes and videos spiderman fans have made.
7: have the Justice League get involed cause "Hes to bright to be one of yours Bruce!" And have him be a honorary member of the league of have them put him on Young Justice. Peter gets adopted by Batfam? Yes. Peter becomeing Bffs with the Young Justice kids and actually forming normal relationships with kids his age? Also yes.
Do I have more? Probably but Im too lazy for it rn
If you for some reason use one of my ideas, pls tag me and maybe credit me for the original idea (but I mostly want to be able to find the fic if you do make it ( o_o) )
Who knows, I might just write some of these myself if I ever get the motivation lol

hey! I've been following you for a while now and i just wanted to say that i absolutely love your writing and check your blog almost everyday 😔🙏🏻
anyways i was wondering if you'd write something fluffy where spider gets the hiccups while out in the forest with the recoms. He acts tough and tries to hide it, but the recoms take notice of course. They take turns suggesting increasingly ridiculous 'cures' (gulping down lots of water, holding your breath + spinning around etc) which don't work, to their amusement and spider's growing embarrassment, and Quaritch ends up having to step in as the Responsible Father before things get out of hand.
+10 for general recom dumbassery
+20 for a cute father-son moment between quaritch and spider
+30 if spider's hiccups actually go away! 🤭
-b
Hi b! Thanks for asking! Sorry it took me a while 💞
"Son of a-"
Spider's curse was drowned out by Wainfleet's booming laughter throughout the clearing.
"Something funny, Baldo?" Spider dared.
Wainfleet tried to dim his guffaws, but was only drawing more attention to himself from Zdog and Prager. "This kid, man!" Wainfleet chuckled, addressing the rest of the recom squad's curious and amused stares. "He's had the hiccups for the last twenty minutes and tried to hide it!"
Instantaneously, the watching recoms' faces burst into matching expressions of mirth.
"Aw, baby Spidey has the hiccups?" Zdog mocked.
Spider seethed. He had been trying to conceal them for this exact reason. He knew the squad would be jerks. He grit his teeth and turned around on the fallen tree trunk, facing out of the clearing and ignoring the squad.
"Hey, kid!" Lopez called. Spider didn't turn around. He knew he was being mocked. "I got a cure." Spider's ears perked up. He slowly twisted around to hear it.
"You gotta hold your breath," Lopez continued, walking over so he didn't have to shout, "and spin around ten times while looking at the sky."
"I'm not doing that, asshat!" Spider yelled. Did they think he was dumb?
Lopez looked offended. Fike stepped in. "It's true Spidey," he said. "Something about..." he looked at Ja, who was smirking from beside the fire. "Stretching your diaphragm! Right, Ja?"
Spider looked at the medic for his opinion. "That's correct," Ja admitted. "You do have to stretch your diaphragm..."
Lopez and Fike cheered, and Zdog had begun to laugh again. "Come on, Spider! Give it a go!"
Spider cussed them all in Na'vi, hating them for their stupid 'cures', but he really was feeling desperate. If he didn't embarrass himself by listening to their suggestions, the humiliation of them all listening to his hiccups would do the job anyway.
"Fine," he growled, getting up and taking a huge gulp of filtered air, throwing his head back to the sky and spinning. The recoms began to count him, and Spider knew they were doing so deliberately slowly.
"... seven, eight, nine, ten!" They cheered, and Spider stopped spinning, letting himself come to a wobbly standstill. The world spun in front of his eyes, and his legs suddenly felt like jelly. "Woah," he said, trying to find his balance as he stepped forwards.
The recoms roared with laughter as he faceplanted a mushroom.
"Shit," he cussed, struggling to get back to his feet and deciding to just sit down with his head between his knees. Only a few seconds later, the next hiccup came.
"You bastards!" he groaned, raising his head to glare at the squad, laughing like a pack of hyenas. Spider cast around, looking for Quaritch, but the Colonel must have been out looking for dinner or securing the perimeter.
"Alright, alright," Wainfleet snickered. "Have some of my water. Just take small gulps." He got up and passed the bottle to Spider, who took it after a second's hesitation.
"Wait, have you tried drinking upside down?" Zdog butted in.
"Upside down?" queried Ja, a skeptical look on his face.
Zdog's face was reminiscent and confident. "Oh yeah, my granny swore by it, bless her heart." Spider couldn't tell if she was being serious.
"Is that gonna-" another hiccup "-stretch my diaphragm, yeah?" Spider asked sarcastically, fed up of her already.
"It will!" she replied earnestly. "If you're constantly taking small gulps without pausing for air, it forces you to hold your breath and stretches your lungs out!
Spider hiccuped again, sealing the nail in his coffin. "How am I gonna drink upside down?" He asked. Seeing the glint in Zdog's eye, and the conspiratorial smirk between Lopez and Fike, he immediately sussed them out. "You are not holding me!"
"You're a right buzzkill, kid," Wainfleet murmured.
"I can do a handstand fine by myself," Spider ignored him. "But how am I gonna drink anything?"
Prager seemed to be two steps ahead of him, already pulling out a straw from one of the recom's gross nutrient shakes that came in cardboard cartons. "Voila."
"Jesus," Spider muttered, eyeing the straw and the devilish gleam in each recom's eye as they stared at him. "You know I'll have to take the mask off?" He hiccuped again, which only strengthened their resolve, making them even more insufferable.
Spider made up his mind. "If any of you dickwads touches me I swear to Eywa..." he warned them, approaching Prager and bringing the bottle with him. "I can only hold it for like, thirty seconds."
"I'm right here with the mask, whenever you give the word," Wainfleet assured him.
"Fuck. Am I really doing this?" Spider muttered to himself stupidly.
"Yeah, baby!" Cried Zdog, who had throughly enjoyed the whole saga, providing nothing but ill-timed sniggers throughout.
Spider got into position, ready to go into a handstand. He addressed Wainfleet. "Once I'm balanced, take the mask off." Hiccup. "When I say, put it back on and not a moment later, you got it? I don't fancy dying."
Prager spoke next. "And I'll hold the bottle up for you, so you don't need to use your hands."
Spider looked around at the group, who were clearly having the time of their lives over his suffering. "I hate every one of you," he muttered, before going down on his hands and pushing himself up into a handstand. He could hold one since he was five - it was just something he was good at. Funnily enough, no Na'vi he'd ever met was able to do it. He'd spent ages trying to teach Kiri and Lo'ak and even Tuk, but they just couldn't. It seemed his useless skill was finally coming in handy.
He waited for the next hiccup to pass, took a few deep breaths, then nodded at Wainfleet. "Okay, take the mask off."
Wainfleet did so, and Prager immediately moved the water within sipping distance of Spider's mouth. He began sipping small sips, without pausing for breath, just like Zdog had said, until-
"PUT YOUR MASK BACK ON!"
Spider immediately fell down from his handstand - somewhat gracefully - and took the mask back that Wainfleet was hurriedly handing out to him.
Quaritch was standing on the edge of the clearing, a yerik slung over his shoulders and staring at the group with murder in his eyes. He deposited the animal down by the fire and stormed across the grass. Spider pressed the seal on the exopack and cool air flowed back into his mask. He took a hesitant step back from the Colonel, the man's anger palpable.
"What do you think you're doing?!" He yelled, addressing the recoms, but mostly, Spider noticed, Wainfleet. Nobody answered. "Taking his mask off! ARE! YOU! INSANE!"
All noise had vanished from the clearing. Spider could have heard a pin drop. He didn't want to even shuffle his feet for fear of making too much noise. Quaritch's roars had rooted everybody in place in shock.
Quaritch looked directly at Spider. "Come here!" he demanded, and Spider hastily obeyed. "Sit down!" Quaritch barked, removing Spider from the line of bollocking. He continued to shout at the recom squad for what felt like half an hour, when in reality it couldn't have been any longer than a minute. He was so angry, even Spider knew better than to snigger at the looks of embarrassment on the recoms' faces. They looked like a line of children that had misbehaved at school.
When Quaritch had finished, he took a moment to catch his breath, then turned back to Spider. Spider automatically flinched away, but there was no need. The Colonel reached out a huge hand and placed it on Spider's shoulder. "You should know better, kid." His tone was feather light compared to the one he'd used on the squad. "What if you'd hiccuped without your mask on?"
Spider hadn't actually considered that. Until Quaritch had mentioned hiccuping, Spider had completely forgotten about it, and only now did he realise... it had worked.
"Sorry," Spider mumbled, only half sarcastically. He looked up and made eyes with Zdog over Quaritch's shoulder. Although the woman was thoroughly scolded, she still maintained that mischievous glint in her eye, and Spider knew in that moment that she was gloating.
She'd won.
Spider's hiccups had been cured.

I feel. Insane. Bonkers actually. Marbles lost over this trailer.
but I HOPE THERE'S SLEEPER. I don't know how well a 2hr something movie handle the intro of that many symbiote characters but we shall see. also??? the lizard (more accurately the guy who plays him) being there??? why???
the shot of klyntar as well!!! (and that reveal has me shaking in my boots... Im afraid and I don't know if that's good)
I don't quite trust the IMBd page yet; there's a kid on the cast page, he could be sleeper or dylan. Venom War and now this??? im losing it (if I had it in the first place)
logged on just to see what you'd posted abt the trailer bc i finally got to watch it and wanted to come scream w yall
Hi!!! I’m also going insane!!
IF THERES NO SLEEPER IM GOING TO CRY. After everything that’s going on in the comics rn I need Eddie in some media being a good dad. I’m on my knees begging for him to have one fatherly bone in his body. Dylan would also be cool, but I’m biased towards Sleeper lol
LIZARD GUY!! WHY IS HE HERE. IS SONY FR STILL TRYING TO MAKE THEIR SHITTY SPIDERMAN WKTH NO SPIDEY UNIVERSE REAL AFTER THE ABSOLUTE STINKERS THEYVE PUT OUT
ALSO KLYNTAR LOOKS SO COOL!! The shots of the Hive had me going feral— and the symbiotes emerging from it is so slay!!!
thank you for screaming with me!!! I love yapping about Venom way too much— screaming crying throwing up I’m so excited for this movie!!!

List of favorite versions of these characters
List of my favorite iterations of different characters:
This is an opinion:
Spider-Man
I just love how nuanced and developed this take on Spidey is. All are great in their own terms but I have personally felt more of a connection to this Spidey more than anyone else, with only Andrew Garfield's coming close because I just love that the whole mannerisms are just so real.
He experiences anger and sadness and so many other negative emotions. He doesn't have to be the happy one all the time because that's unrealistic. It has a more grounded apporach than Tobey Maguire's Spidey but not as much as Andrew Garfield, giving the perfect balance for a quality comic book movie character. It's not too campy but has just the right amount.
The main problem is the fanfiction writers treating him like a five year old when he is not. This is a developed and mature character. How everyone just treats him like a baby is beyond me. His last appearance had him try to murder a man with his bare hands (and a weaponized glider). There was no baby in that scene.
Next up it's Batman.
This one has so much potential. I don't have as much to discuss but I just feel drawn to it for some reason. The incredibly dark, emotional feel seems to just work for Batman and Robert Pattinson just nails it. The only other one that comes close is Christian Bale who unfortunately puts me off with two things. The design and the voice.
You can't tell me Batman sounds like he gargles with battery acid. Also... hockey pads? Really Nolan?
Next up... Percy Jackson. (Reminder that I am only putting in live action ones as I have not seen the Lightning Thief play but I have been told it's great)
This one is no contest.
While Logan Lerman was actually a perfect casting for the 16 year old Son of Poseidon, his performance was slightly bogged down by the movie he was in. Logan and the Lotus scene was probably the only thing I would ever like about the movies. Walker on the other hand, while we have only seen him in trailer as of right now, is the perfect Percy. I don't care about his looks because the entire reason PJO was created was to send the message that anyone, whether they have dyslexia or ADHD, can be a hero. The whole part of Percy's design doesn't matter, just as long as he looks like Poseidon. That's the only part that matters. Just like how Annabeth's design doesn't matter as the whole idea of it was that anyone can be smart, despite being discriminated against for their appearance. THIS LITERALLY MEANS IT MAKES MORE SENSE FOR HER TO BE BLACK RATHER THAN BLONDE. STOP BULLYING LEAH YOU RACIST NERDS ON THE INTERNET. NOT THAT I'M HATING ON NERDS THO I AM ONE AND THIS ARGUMENT IS LITERALLY TO DEFEND THE ULTIMATE NERD.
Anyway back to Percy. Walker is Percy Jackson. Anyone seen Secret Headquarters and The Adam Project? It's like seeing Percy come to life. Anyone who says 'Ever had your ass beat by a twelve year old nerd with an inhaler' in that tone is Percy Jackson. His entire mannerism just is the chaotic energy of Percy. Plus, Rick Riordan has said that he has encouraged Walker to embrace anger in the show rather than just be the stereotypical morally superior protagonist. THIS PERCY WILL SHOW EMOTION AND ANGER AND EVERYTHING. THAT IS PERCY. From the start, he has always had a slightly darker streak, from manipulating Procrustes into lying in his literal death bed to manipulating the tears and poison of the misery goddess (No idea where the fandom got the idea of blood bending that's not part of the scene)
Honestly, all I've heard from this kid is just Percy Jackson. He is Percy.
For the final one we have Superman and Lex Luthor.
This is the best ever Clark Kent I have seen. He shows both the alien side and the human side of Kal-El so well. Henry Cavill was amazing but we never saw really saw Clark enough. More of the Kal-El side. This is probably because of the lack of appearance due to all the weird problems with the DCEU which was disappointing as he was gearing up to take the new favorite spot for me. Welling on the other hand, had so much time, evolving and developing this character that is was just hard not to see Welling when I hear Clark.
Despite the lack of suiting up (Which was fixed by the Season 11 comics and Smallville Tie-ins) he managed to bring the essence of Superman into the show so well. His time as the Red-Blue Blur and The Blur managed to show both his heroic side and his darker side, adding a much more emotionally invested side to the character. Rather than just making him the morally correct character who can do no wrong and assumes the best in everyone like most people think of when they see Superman, Smallville's version shows him as a person making him have flaws, doubts, anger, emotion and so much trails.
His friendship and rivalry with Lex, paired with Tom Welling's amazing chemistry with Michael Rosenbaum, created such amazing on screen banter and added a new layer to his character, giving him a large parallel to one of his greatest enemies.
Both started off wanting to be just good. The main difference was parentage. Clark was lucky to get Jonathan and Martha. He may have had some hiccups with Jor-El but Jor-El at least wanted to give him a good path. Lex had Lionel. Lionel was abusive, via neglect and hate. Lionel was the real reason why Lex had no hope of becoming a hero. This came into play heavily in the earlier seasons of Smallville.
Smallville was always a three act play.
Act 1: Season 1-3
This one focused on fathers and sons
So much of this was about Jonathan and Clark, Lionel and Lex, Henry Small and Lana, Jor-El and Clark, even Gabe and Chloe for a bit.
Act 2: 4-7
This one helped develop the characters through their interactions with each other while building the Krypton sub-plot.
This was how Lana's relationship with Clark and Lex grew and fell.
This was how Chloe grew to be one of Clark's most trusted confidants.
This was about how Clark and Lex's friendship started failing.
All the while, we finally were introduced to actual characters from the comic books other than Lex, Lana, Clark, Pete and Clark's parents.
We saw The Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, Green Arrow and Black Canary.
We were introduced to Lois Lane of all people which gave everyone my favorite version of the character, rivalled only by My Adventures with Superman and Superman and Lois.
We saw Brainiac, Bizarro and Supergirl.
This truly marked the end of the fathers and sons arc with Jonathan suffering a heart attack and Lex truly becoming the villain after murdering his Father, a fate he had tried so hard to stop in the earlier seasons.
Then we got the final act.
Act 3: Seasons 8-10
This was the act where Clark truly became a hero. He stepped out of the shadows as the Red-Blue Blur. He took on Doomsday. He finally defeated Brainiac. Lois and Clark became a thing. We saw his dark side as he became The Blur, with his trenchcoat and we saw him evolve past his dark side and then finally, he donned the cape.
This was truly the greatest version of Superman.
Now you must be waiting for the Lex one.
Of course it will be Smallville's Lex.
Michael Rosenbaum was PERFECT.
He will be the only Lex I ever see.
His take on the character was just so emotional and perfect.
His relationship with Clark and his slow descent to madness and evil but just perfect.
That day on the bridge changed his life but it also changed all of ours.
Everyone who saw Smallville knew that Clark and Lex would become enemies and yet it still hurt.
Let's be honest, this scene broke everyone.
This was when there truly was no return.
This just cemented what everyone knew would happen.
This was truly the greatest pair in TV history.
They've come a long way from this:
Knight out.

okay, Marauders fan
Mm nope. Spider-Man fan. Andrew Garfield fan. Supernatural (not the show, the creatures) AU fan. I love werewolves, vampires, witches, ghosts, horror tragic drama romancey shit. I used to love Harry Potter when I was a kid/teenager (I’m in my 30s now) but never got into the fanfic fandom side. I had no idea the Marauders were even a thing besides being Harry’s dad in the books until I joined the AG Spidey fandom two years ago and saw he was a fan cast fav. Think I’ve read exactly one Remus Lupin fanfic since resparking my love for Spidey and it didn’t do anything for me because my hyperfixation is with tasm Peter Parker and not Lupin. I love writing for characters Andrew has actually played with movies I can actually watch for inspiration and not things a bunch of strangers decided to use his face for.
So, no. Not a marauders fan. Not a Harry Potter fan. Loved it when I was kid but it no longer does anything for me apart from make me pissed off and angry. I’m going to state this right now to make sure we are very clear on this subject: I fucking hate JKR. She is a horrific disgusting woman. I do not support her or her vile beliefs. I love and actively support the transgender community and I always will.
Me writing a werewolf story that is using PETER PARKER as the au and using SPIDERMAN characters and SPIDERMAN lore throughout does not equate to me writing a fucking Harry Potter story and I am honestly insulted for being told otherwise. Nothing in my story has the slightest god damn thing to do with or relates to HP and is full of Spider-Man characters and Peter Parker lore and my own take on a werewolf origin story with my own created world around it. Had you actually read it and not just glanced at the picture and assumed that anything Andrew Garfield next to a werewolf must mean Harry Potter fan than maybe you would see otherwise. If it was literally any other actors face there, in any other fandom doing a werewolf au, you would not give a shit. Andrew Garfield was not even in Harry Potter. He has literally nothing to do it. He was in Spider-Man and he did play Peter Parker who is the exact person in writing an au for.
I have wrote multiple aus in the Peter Parker fandom. Last year I wrote a Peter vampire au. Does that mean I’m out to suck Stephanie Meyer or Anne Rices dicks? No. I wrote a Peter serial killer au. Does that mean I want to suck Ted Bundy’s dick? No. Writing a werewolf au is literally no different. I write AUs. It’s what I like to do. Werewolf is just another typical, very popular au throughout fandoms for me to tick off the list. Try actually looking at someone’s work before making judgement calls based off AGs face next to wolf.
Don’t ever call me a Harry Potter fan. It’s 9am and I’m pissed off. Have a good day, dammit!

Symbiot3 for the ask game!
I don't ship it. :/
...
....just kidding! I absolutely ship it. Everyone knows I ship it. If you didn't know, congrats! Now you know! Ahem, thank you for indulging me, my friend.
What made you ship it? The funny answer is "spite". Back in, oh I don't know, maybe January of 2018, @amaronith and I were complaining about Venom Inc. and That Scene™ in the Alpha issue like "haha what if Eddie and Flash just got together instead of fighting. seems like the only way they can solve this".
(Venom Inc: Alpha #1; Slott, Costa, Stegman. they are SO dumb.)
The real answer is that AFTER we made that joke I started thinking about it and I was like "oh shit they actually have a lot in common and the Venom Symbiote is obviously in love with both of them... holy shit this might actually be a good ship. hot damn."
The ship is still largely out of spite for Venom Inc, but it's grown into so much more than that. I really like digging into all the characters and their respective relationships with each other and how it can all lead up to the three of them finding what makes it work.
What are your favorite things about the ship?
HMMM. Well. There was this moment from the Savage Six arc in Remender's run on Agent Venom...
...mostly because this is, at least to me, the first time we see Eddie address Venom with some like... modicum of the love he felt for the symbiote once upon a time. Like for a brief second there, he believes that maybe there's a part of the symbiote, regardless of who it's with, that has just saved him. And he's stunned. It's glorious.
There's also the glorious tension-filled Hallway Scene in Cullen Bunn's half of that same Venom volume, and I know that this one is precisely from #35:
I know that technically Eddie is Toxin here but MAN this scene was insane for that. Like. Holy shit.
Aaaand despite all my gripes about it, I have to hand this one to Donny Cates and Iban Coello. It's absolutely gorgeous. I'm pretty much internally screaming every time I see these panels. I don't really like the writing in this scene, I don't feel it's very indicative of what I think Eddie and Flash's relationship up to this point should be, buuuuuuut it's very sweet and very tender. I think they should kiiiiiiiss.
Overall I think there's just SO much potential to explore all they have in common, between complicated family relationships and complicated romantic relationships and both having grown up Catholic and their really different connections to Spider-Man, there is SO. MUCH. And the symbiote knows them, and it knows their hearts, and while I think if forced to choose between them it ultimately would.. but I would rather it not have to.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
I do find this kind of a funny question because I know there are people who think that this ship existing at all is an "unpopular opinion" in and of itself. But I don't think there's any real grounds to the idea that the symbiote isn't willing to share its host with another lover - especially if that other party is willing to accept symbiote+host as a package deal. I think it would be very normal for any bonded pair, for the human side to still desire a relationship with another humanoid.
There's this... particular way that Eddie isolates himself after a certain point in comics, right around the mid-90s when he leaves San Francisco I think, that really bothers me. Do I think he needs a romantic relationship outside the symbiote to have a happy and fulfilling life? Certainly not. But I also don't think it's going to be detrimental to him or his bond with the symbiote.
I guess the only other "unpopular opinion" I might have is that by making Eddie hold hands with Flash I would also expect him to get drawn into Flash's social circle. Flash is at his core a Spider-Man character and especially my more recent fics I like to lean into that. Some people don't like the idea of Venom being closer to the Spidey cast, but the truth is that I think their best stories are when we remember that Eddie and Flash are really very ordinary guys.
And they are both in love with a space alien. (And each other.)
#symbiot3#this was actually exactly what i needed today lol thank you bonnie#asked and answered#I haven't rambled about them in a LONG time#not to this extent at least#it's crazy everything that's happened since venom inc! i hope they hug by the end of whatever this summer event is#or you know. more. i won't complain if there's more.#dylan when he sees flash drinking coffee in the brock family apartment one morning: 'so are you like. my stepdad now'#flash immediately chokes on his coffee: 'uhhhh let's not get carried away champ'#anyways i'll stop there i'm just giggling to myself at this point

I prefer to use metacritic over RT for the reason anon listed below. Still, there were several critics that rated it 0/10 with some saying it was unwatchable and a waste, and almost all critics watched it through the lens of “famous blockbuster actor with a huge following tries something new” which is wrong if you’re familiar with his pre Spider-man work. I think some critics went into watching that show looking for reasons to dislike it.
… “The Beach” has a 21% RT score and 53 metacritic score, and I desperately need Tom to see that score because that movie is not perfect but deserved MUCH better. Leo was hugely typecast after Titanic (which I think is his real gripe w superhero/blockbuster movies). Titanic released in 1997 and Leo didn’t have a critical hit until 2002 Catch Me if You Can, and that was a Spielberg film.
At the end of the day, Leo’s most famous role will always be Jack Dawson. It’s the role most “normal” people will always associate him with, but now he’s done enough movies opposite of Jack’s character people take him seriously.
You're right, I'll have to check out Metacritic more often. I'm so used to always looking on RT or IMDB lol.
Anyway......Great points about Leo DiCaprio Anon. 👍🏾 I know he's referred back to that time and how crazy it was for him in many various interviews over the years. And YES, I think that's probably one of the main reasons why Leo advises young actors against doing superhero films. He probably saw himself how the largely popular and successful "Titanic" role really probably stifled him career-wise for years. 🥴
I just think it's hard period for younger actors who have done such an iconic role, to really break free from that, because ppl like to pigeon-hole actors (and just ppl in general) ALL the time. 😒🙄
It may take a few years, but I definitely foresee Tom breaking out of the superhero "bubble" that it seems some in Hollywood have put him in. And don't think that Tom is the only one who's going through this. Actor Chris Evans (Captain America) gets typecast and stereotyped all the time due to his previous Marvel role. Why do you think he was okay with hanging up the suit? 👀
Honestly? Leo doing CMIYC was probably the best thing he could have done for his career. I could see Tom doing a role like that honestly. He certainly has the charisma to pull it off! 😉
I actually think that Tom's career is perfectly fine tbh, and I love how diverse his filmography is! I'm sure he will be called one of our great leading actors in the future.... mark my words.
If I were to give Tom any type of advice career-wise to get over this "period" however (not that he needs my advice on anything.... cuz who am I but just a fan? Lol 🤭 😆), it would be to:
Take a little bit of a break from the mentally-taxing/mentally-troubled roles for a little while. You can still show people that you're a great actor, that you're naturally gifted, and MORE than just "Spider-man" without doing dark/edgy/mentally-taxing roles 😔 I think the Fred Astaire biopic is a perfect choice for example 😌👌🏾 Especially since he will be able to finally showcase a talent he's had since he was a kid onscreen!
Do some lighter roles that showcase more of his natural charisma (and maybe even humor) 😌👌🏾
Take on a few roles that showcase him using his regular English accent
Don't pick roles based on "gut feelings or emotions".... pick roles more strategically and analytically (I know he said he hates doing that lol 😄) based on a GOOD SCRIPT, a great cast, and/or an awesome director, with a storyline that interests him👍🏾
Do an ensemble film again (kind of like TDATT) where he's not the main focus of the film, but a very important part of the storyline along with other well-acclaimed actors. Ensemble films are GREAT. And the entire film (or its success) isn't ALL on your shoulders.
And finally (and I know this will make some fans angry lol 😆), but if I were him, I would actually not return to the Spidey role for another 4 years 👀 Can't Sony still keep their rights to the Spidey character if they just keep making another animated Miles Morales film for a little while? 👀
Anyway, that would be my personal advice! 🤷🏾♀️
But hey, I'm nobody but a casual observer, so my advice could be crap for all I know rofl 🤣 But from the outside looking in, this is the direction that I would go if I were in his position. 😊
I think the thing that frustrates me the most with Tom and critics trying to pigeonhole him, is the fact that if they ever watched Tom's EARLIER films prior to Spiderman, they would see that Tom was really more of an indie actor!
The problem is, people either never saw his earlier films, OR, they never really paid much attention to him, so when SM HOCO came out, THAT became the barometer that they used to judge him and his acting 🙄, when in reality, they should be taking his entire filmography as a whole into consideration imo.
Anyway, let me stop with this dissertation lol..
Great points Anon 👍🏾

Spider-Man Read-Through 022: The Master Plan of the Molten Man... and Dracula is also there (ASM 132-133, GSSM 1)
MASTERPOST
In this duo, we see an old friend... or two. And then, we meet a vampire. OoOoOh~!
I really enjoy the Molten Man's new design! Gorgeous cover.
It may be January in the Marvel-verse, but we're in May 74, publication-wise!
Liz is back! Hasn't been seen since issue 30, which explains why I keep mistaking Betty and her.
I don't know why, but I remembered this specific (and very ugly) maid. Poor lady.
Anyway, Raxton is hot, there I said it, we can get on.
When I first saw those panels, I thought it was exactly like how Romita would draw Liz... then I checked the credits again... and it's him! His soapy style is gorgeous as ever. Peter says she never got on with MJ, but given that MJ appeared for the first real time in #42... I don't know what he's on. The art of the retcon!
Ned, who's investigating the maid's intel on Raxton, almost dies as Raxton (actually the Molten Man) makes his room explode. I like that Ned (and the rest of the cast) are more involved! I miss them.
The Molten Man has apparently not been seen since #35, which checks out. It's the occasion for the artists to put gold, which is a shade we don't see so much.
Look, is this a safe space? Can I say what's on my mind?
The feet are really nice. I'm not particularly into feet (I know, TMI) but I'm really impressed by how it looks good. And the rest of Raxton's body is obviously quite well-done too. I'm not saying that Spider-Man comics made me gay, but they sure aren't beating the allegations.
Ned is very badly aged, but I like the damsel in distress look.
Raxton's radiation has a bad influence on Peter's metabolism, and he might very well die by the next issue...
Oh, who are we kidding?
In the readers' letters, it seems like Gwen's death has now mostly been forgiven, and someone is praising MJ--and she deserves it!
Even men want to see more of Peter! I'm afraid the situation isn't exactly adapted, however.
As a matter of fact, Spidey has already planned to party in a sauna with another man. Better luck next time!
(I love those smoke effects.)
Liz reveals that Raxton is her brother, which I completely forgot about.
We rarely see that kind of comedy, hahaha.
So. Um. It's a classic story of Spidey kind of being a jerk. Um. So Liz's brother is dead. For now. Maybe. Oof.
In the comments, there's also people talking about Russia's attack on Ukraine. Gerry Conway's run is really provocative, huh! I'm kind of loving it. His shaking of the status quo, not the attack.
I wonder if we'll get to see Liz's reaction :(
I'll do Giant-Size 1 later, it's currently more than 3 am. Hey, do you know what we'll get next time? A big batch... and Harry's big moment as, you know, the, the...!
Oh, you'll just have to wait!
______________________________________________________________
And here's the late addendum of Giant-Size Spider-Man #1!
I'm into that, actually!
So May's dying again (isn't she always?) and Peter needs to get her a vaccine. Ross Andru thus entertains us with a brilliant perspective shot.
Their homoeroticism never fails. Reading the summary of Marvel Team-Up 23 actually was a treat, because I finally got the answer to a years-old question of mine: did Iceman really rob a bank in the first few pages of this issue?
No, he didn't, folks!
Yes, you're getting a ton of screenshots for this part, since I know there's no more issue in this batch after this one.
Anyway, Dracula... Could you please breed me?
To me, Peter and Dracula crossing paths was like, an interplanetary event. It gave me chills. In fact, it still does and I think I should write Peter/Dracula smut now so thank you to the whole team, you've made a mess out of my brain, ARE YOU HAPPY?!? (It is 3 am.)
At least three factions are out there to find Maxfield, either to kill him (Dracula), use him for bartering (the Whisperer and Simian), and naturally Peter just wants to heal his aunt.
I remember that exact cosplay!!!! Funny what the brain remembers and doesn't. Sir, if you thirst so much, maybe I could come to your aide. You just need to ask. Okay, that's actually optional.
The Whisperer's men have a run in with Dracula and think he's Maxfield, which totally offends Dracula. As revenge, he decides to homosexualize his assailants.
Muahahaha.
The writing team then attempts to gaslight me into thinking Dracula isn't hot as fuck.
They're not doing a good job, I can tell you.
A woman is attacked by Dracula, Peter hears her, alerts the captain, who makes Dr. Maxfield come... and Simian follows them.
The fake Hawkgirl attacks one of them and is knocked unconscious. They escape with the man, Peter escapes too...
I'm all giddy!!!!!! Don't know why, but I love that "oh it's not the end yet... or rather, at all! I'm loving this romp. It's a complete joy.
In a great feat of misdirection, Simian and his men find Spider-Man... but actually, he's just a rando in a costume! That's funny and foreshadowed (given that everyone's in a costume anyway). And if I remember, this isn't the only misdirection...
The guy on the right is a fun one.
Meanwhile, Dracula is just as uncomfortable watching Babylon's first 10 minutes as I was. (It's a great movie, go watch it.)
Great mise-en-scène! The Whisperer has trapped the guy, but a bat follows... and hits Simian with its gay ray. Hurray!
Gosh, Dracula is such a girlboss. "I have been harassed--attacked--INSULTED..." Iconic.
Dracula eventually escapes, convinced that he just threw Maxfield overboard... but Spidey caught fake Robin Hood!
And thus, the biggest twist arises!
What a girlboss too.
And that's how it ends. A stellar issue! Loved it.

Spider-man: The Animated Series, 101 (Nov. 19, 1994) - “Night of the Lizard”
Written by: Gerry Conway, Stan Berkowitz, & John Semper Jr. Directed by: Bob Richardson
The Breakdown
After sightings of a mysterious lizard-creature in the sewers make the news, J Jonah Jameson offers a $1,000 reward to whoever can provide a photographic proof. Peter Parker is hurting for cash, so he grabs his camera and thwips into action. First up, he begins his search with a visit to his professor (Dr. Curt Connors) because that guy knows, like, a LOT about Lizards you guys. In fact, Connors even has a fancy ray gun at his campus facility called a “Neogenic Recombinator” which is capable of giving small mammals the ability to regrow missing limbs just by zapping some Reptile DNA into them. Pretty neat, right? Maybe one day this device will help Connors regrow his own arm, but surely not today. Of course, that expository information is purely to set the tone of the story, and I’m sure it won’t relate directly to the primary narrative or events of this episode.
In the twist that utterly may shock you, it turns out that Doc Connors and the Lizard are-one-and-the-same on account of engaging in a reckless attempt to regrow his own arm, which has gone horribly wrong! (Who could have foreseen this?) With a new set of reptilian priorities, Croc Connors decides to turn everyone into Anthropomorphic Reptiles, because he’s decided being a dinosaur-man actually kinda slaps. (Important follow up question: does he maybe have a point? That does sound awesome.) Regardless, it’s poor form to assume that’s what everyone wants without checking first, so Pete gets into Spidey mode and shuts the whole thing down, using the gene-ray-gun to turn Connors back into his normal human self. And to top it off Peter gets the pictures so he can keep the noose of capitalism at bay for a little while longer! Yay!
The Verdict
One thing these old 90’s cartoons excelled at was in getting to the point. ‘Night of the Lizard’ picks up when Spider-man is already well established, and Peter is in university. Even Peter’s supporting cast are all introduced as if the audience could already know them, and it works. At no point are we ever left to wonder what’s going on, or who anyone is. The writing and animation on this show never reached the maturity of Batman: TAS or other WB fare of the era, but this episode still holds up pretty well for a 90’s kids show. Visually the animators do a decent job of capturing Spider-man’s acrobatics (the webbing looks great), although the CGI backgrounds have not aged gracefully. Meanwhile, what the writing lacks in emotional depth, it makes up for it in whiz-bang adventure that’s simultaneously a faithful update to the source material.
When all is said and done, this is remains a solid intro to an iconic show from my childhood.
3 stars (out of 5)
Additional Observations
I like that they introduced Eddie Brock as a rival photographer right away. Gives us some time to establish his dynamic with Peter before he becomes Veno- I mean, I’m sure they’ll sort out their differences amicably.
The Lizard’s design is spot on. As a kid watching this show felt like like a comic book come to life. Coincidentally the Lizard was one of the first Spidey rogues I was introduced to back when I first started reading comics.
I love how a university has access to a device capable of creating literal super-monsters almost instantly, and there seems to be no resources devoted to guarding it. And this is only the first of many times that specific one-of-a-kind device will be misused to a similar effect. Maybe the line between this universe with super-people, and ours, is a better security budget.

Into, Across and Beyond! Cast: ChaosIIUniverse Sonic and Sonia
Replaces: Peter B. Parker / Webb-verse Spidey (CU!Sonic) and Mayday Parker (CU!Sonia) Created by: ToonsiteComics
"Here's the one you've been waiting for!" - CU!Sonic
"The name is Sonia Rose, and I'm here to kick your asses straight to jail!" - CU!Sonia
A Sonic in the Blur Gang who's actually started a family? Who'd have thought it?
ChaosIIUniverse Sonic is the lead hero of his dimension, and after marrying his Amy Rose, they had a daughter together, affectionately named Sonia Rose, who takes after both her father and mother.
However, due to some unknown circumstances, Amy passed away, leaving Sonic a single father as he raised Sonia on his own. He taught her about swimming (which involved giving her LOTS of floaties), was there for her when choosing the right preschool (taking offense to any that didn't have chilli dogs on the lunch menu), comforting her when she had been bullied in school, scolding her when she accidentally breaks some stuff, and even teaching her stuff like how to tie her shoelaces.
This checking, of course, goes both ways, with Sonia herself keeping tabs on her dad to ensure he's not trying to get another spouse without her permission, even confiscating a chilli dog when he's caught texting Elise. Seems like that controlling side of Amy rubbed off on her daughter.
When some thieves started wreaking havoc around Sonic's home city, however, he had to be away from home a lot more, which inspired Sonia to try and help to make her dad proud. For instance, she showed up and intruded on a bank robbery, somehow stealing the robbers' weapons AND their bomb when their guards were dropped. Granted, she didn't know how to disarm the bomb afterwards, but Sonic arrived in good time to send it straight to the nearest desert.
Unfortunately, the thieves escaped with the cash, and Sonic felt upset with his daughter for jeopardising that mission and getting herself into danger. Once he realised her motivations for doing so, however, he calmed down and felt sorry himself for his upset, considering she's one of the few reasons why he's still going, especially after the loss of his wife. The two hugged it out and made up, with Sonic promising to spend more time with her if she doesn't try to save the day alone again.
Which brings us to the point of More than One Universe, when the duo are the second ones brought in when OMT!Tails ran off alone. When they found him, he's the second one to chime in about his loss, assuring the kid he wasn't alone in losing someone close to him.
With CU!Sonia still wanting to learn how to be a hero without getting herself in danger, Nitro offered to share his knowledge with her in a special training course, whilst CU!Sonic actively got involved in curing the rogue villains.
“I can relate to what [Nitro] just said. I lost Amy a while back when we had Sonia as a daughter. She was my Mina… It took me a while to move on from then and cope as a single father. Ever since, I kept trying to be the carefree hero she saw me as, but it became tough as time went on. Sonia was all I had left to call family. You shouldn’t have to experience that same darkness.”
During that time, he was even there for Errorverse Sonic, who was also carrying the burden of almost losing everyone he loved to Toxinfect, an event that scarred that version of the Blue Blur for life. The poor guy wasn't afraid to sob in CU!Sonic's arms after venting about it.
After all of that, CU!Sonic and CU!Sonia became the ninth and tenth official members of the Blur Gang, with Sonia tagging along with her father to ensure he's safe, and vice versa.
A temporary point in the Quill Society had them goofing around with Lost Memory Sonic a bit. As you can tell, the hedgehog is not that amused at the father and daughter's silly antics, but still tolerates it.

Simpsons Ride
A fun simulator ride where Sideshow Bob is trying to kill you and the Simpsons .With original animation ,the original cast (Except Harry Shearer ),this is a fun ride.It is the newest ride I have ridden(Showing how long it has been since I've been there).I know some resent it for replacing Back to the Future the Ride and while I get it....I dont have any attachment to Back to the Future and a lot of attachment to the Simpsons ,soI like this ride

Deep Dive Thoughts about the Daily Bugle Lego Set
I got this Lego Set for Christmas, highlight of the day honestly cause I've wanted one of my own for awhile if only to play out my many Spider-Man story fantasies. It's an impressive looking set to be sure, and I love it for how it has gone all out in many respects. But something really cool is how many minifigs are included in it! Every possibly Spider-Man character is here. Well there are a few exceptions, probably based on them not being able to fit so well with the others. Like, the Lizard has to be a tad bigger than these guys. Same with the Rhino, but almost everyone else is here. It's an impressive cast to be sure.
Look at that, they even have various non-affiliated Marvel heroes because they have connections to Spider-Man. Punisher debuted in an issue of Spider-Man for example. Miles is here sporting his getup from the Spiderverse movie as well, which is kickass cause I love hoodies. Miles should just wear a hoodie all the time as Spider-Man, makes him standout even more. Maybe they're worried he'll look too much like Ghost-Spider, who also wears a hood... I just like hoods.
But there is a major missing member of the Spidey Support cast though. Someone VERY important, Mary Jane Watson!
The woman most associated with Peter Parker/Spider-Man as his primary love interest. So much so they actually got married... and then that all got erased because Marvel couldn't figure out how to make their marriage compelling or interesting. But despite that, even though people claim them being married would be boring all over again, Marvel continues to tease and hint and fakeout the possibility of them getting back together again. They've been doing so for well over a decade at this point. Most recently after heavily hinting at the possibility of their romance returning throughout the Nick Spencer run, Peter has done something terrible enough for MJ to not only leave him but start up a new relationship with someone else who has kids who call her mom!
People are not happy about being yanked around like that, but this is not the point I want to stress here. My point is mainly, Lego decided that for this huge Spider-Man based set, featuring tons of characters, they were going to just cut MJ out altogether. She's just gone! Nowhere to be seen! But another love interest is still there, in fact she's doubly there!
Gwen Stacey is here, Peter's first love and perhaps true love given how he will never be over her. To be fair, its hard to get over someone who died on your watch. More specifically died because your web-line, for the one and only time in existence, decided to obey the laws of thermodynamics concerning centrifugal force. But she's not dead here!
In fact, in the bio for her minifigure, the instruction booklet clearly states she is Peter's "College Crush". Spidey fans might be aware that Gwen dies during Peter's college years. This was something Greg Weisman had to clearly state for fans in recently years concerning the ultimate fate of Gwen on the Spectacular Spider-Man Animated series. Basically, Gwen was never going to die on that show which would've naturally ended when Peter graduated from high school, not after or before. So Gwen was never dying on that show.
But wait, you say, that just means that this is during Peter's time at college! So maybe Gwen is about to take the plunge! Slow your roll buddy! First of all, there is no REAL death in Lego. Haven't the various video games taught you anything? Everyone just runs off screen or plops down with cartoon stars over their heads forever. They're fine!
Second, that's not possible either, because various events that SHOULD have taken place as a result of Gwen's death have already or ARE occurring at this point of time in the story of the set! Case in point...
As you can see in this picture one of the many stickers for the set, the Clone Saga is happening! The infamous 90s sequel to the original Clone Saga of the 70s in fact, since Scarlet Spider is around! For whatever reason, Professor Miles Warren has not become the Jackal, or the very least he has not yet been discovered and is hiding his evil alter ego. Even from Ben Riley, who he created! Assuming this is a three way live interview J Jonah Jameson is running (And that seems to be the case), then for whatever reason no one has figured out what Warren is doing!
For those uninitiated, the Clone Saga was initially kicked off because Prof. Miles Warren had a creepy obsession with one of his students, Gwen Stacey. When she died, he tried to clone her so he could be with her. You know, cause he's a creep. That went badly with the original Gwen Clone getting lost and a Spider-Man clone falling into a smokestack. Years later that Peter clone becomes Ben Reilly, the Scarlet Spider, and kicks off a whole other Clone Saga. One Marvel has overstay its welcome because Marvel in the 90s is run by the marketing department and not the actual storytellers.
Now considering that Gwen is still alive, active, in college and being pined for by Peter as they attend classes together, it stands to reason that not only did this version of Spidey manage to save Gwen from a fatal snap off a bridge but that despite her survival, Miles Warren still futzed around with cloning tech and we have probably skipped the original Clone Saga and gone straight to the 90s one.
That should be it, right? Well no! We still have another very big question to ask... Ghost-Spider, aka Spider-Gwen!
She's included in the set too and before you suggest she's a clone or from another dimension as is usually suggested, no, she's not. The backstory blurb for her figure says she is, in fact, Gwen's alter ego! She's not from another world, she's not a clone, she IS Gwen. It makes sense, Peter Parker and Spider-Man have their own individual mini figures, but they're clearly meant to be the same person who's figure you swap out when necessary for the story. So the same has to hold true for Gwen Stacey! This is a universe where Gwen Stacey also got Spider powers! Maybe, in fact, as a result of Miles Warren's experiments with cloning or perhaps in a similar lab accident that would lead to Miles Morales getting Spider-powers as he's here as well!
But here's something that's also very random, and I only discovered this while I was writing all this down, Gwen's minifig outfit is a reused torso model.
This is common practice and given how much they spent on creating this set it stands to reason they had to reuse some figure designs to cut down on costs. This particular figure's outfit is from the Haunted House Attraction set. So I can only assume that the attraction exists within the world of Lego Spider-Man, or at the very least, it has the same clothing line.
If the former is the case then that opens up a whole other can of worms because of Haunted House ride is based off another line of now defunct and out of print Lego sets, Lego Adventurers!
The principal villain of that series was Baron Von Barron and his house is the basis for the storyline of the Haunted Attraction ride. Although its hard to say whether the ride itself is BASED on the story of the Adventurers series or is actually built around Barron's old house. So either the stories centered around the Adventurers sets are REAL and occurred within the Lego Marvel universe or they are themselves a popular old adventure serial within that universe.
So, putting it all together. Lego Spider-Man exists in a world where Mary Jane either does not exist is not a mainstay in Peter's life. Gwen Stacey is still alive and may or may not be in a relationship with Peter while also being Ghost-Spider at the same time. Indicating she got powers at some point in this world. The Clone Saga itself is currently happening, through entirely different circumstances and means but is occurring regardless. And the old Lego Adventurers series is in one way or another Canon to the Lego Marvel series, as either actual events or in-universe media.
This is all incredibly out of left field and strange and a major rabbit hole of over thinking. So I'm just going to end this by saying, I'm just glad Black Cat is included in this set, cause I'm gonna have her and Spider-Man making out on the top of the building when I'm finally done building it! Peter X Felicia forever!

Alt!
Taken from this meme
Say hello to your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, Pete Parker!
Okay. So last year my friend made me watch Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark around the time I joined a Spider-Verse inspired rp server on discord. And so my idea for Pete was born.
If you don't know what Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark is, it is the Spider-Man musical that almost killed both its actors and Broadway. Waiting in the Wings on youtube has a good video on it. I'm not going to go too much into it but the production was a mess and Bono didn't help and the cast's talent was wasted on it. Although this song is absolutely wonderful and I'm so upset that the soundtrack version is a solo because the harmonies elevate it but that's a petty complaint.
Back to Pete!
Pete is basically if the musical was run by competent people, or if the musical was more dark. Somewhere between the two. Everyone's names have been slightly changed apart from J Jonah Jameson because it's funny. He's still an awkward nerdy guy, madly in love with MJ, standard Spidey stuff.
My personal spin mainly lies in the topic or Arachne. In the musical she shows up, gives him a pep talk, and dips. My Arachne is actually an alien whose interest was piqued by Pete's emergence and decided to make contact; as is a pretty common trope within sci-fi they took the form and persona of a being that would not cause him to freak out and chose a figure he has been fascinated with ever since he was a kid: Arachne from Greek Mythology. Pete is aware that they aren't actually Arachne but calls them that because he isn't about to question too much. She (I use both she and they for Arachne) communicates telepathically and through dreams/visions and is pretty chill and was a good shoulder to cry on after Green Goblin died (which in my canon Pete was absolutely fucked up from).
Now, this is an ongoing B plot in the server but as the Spider-people are glitching Pete gets a bit desperate and Arachne offers to help stabilize his DNA. Just a small alteration, not too much. But the plan is over the course of his stay he will give in to more and more alterations and merges more and more with Arachne until he basically becomes Venom. I'm super excited to do this plot thread!
Anyways for your troubles here's a picture of Alice Cooper and Ben Stiller at Spider-Man Turn off the Dark that I found while looking for reference photos

Was not expecting Jimmy the Mouth in 2024, lol — I assume this is set in the Back in Black era? or thereabouts.
Cute ending. No super strong feelings about it either way. Off the cuff, I'd say it's not JMD's most interesting writing, but that doesn't make it bad. It's a decent, concise 10 page comic with clear writing and solid pacing, which I can definitely appreciate.
I do like the line about not having handcuffs.
I really like the art and compositions here. Casagrande clearly knows her way around a black costume which is always a plus in my book, and her layouts are really solid. Letting the action speak for itself and allowing Spidey to be silent during a fight is basically always something I love, and the team here definitely nailed that. Dude can be brutal when he wants, and the action panels in this comic are really visually bold and striking. Fantastic look all around, would frame that 6-panel fight and hang it on the wall.
Black costume is always hot. Peter slipping his binds and slinking around in general is also always hot. Appreciate him generally being capable and confident, which is another big plus. Leaning on Peter's soft spot for kids/protective nature is also always good.
In the broader context of Spider-Man #lore I find it faintly intriguing? I think it carries some underlying wrinkles that are more meaningful if you have familiarity with Peter's supporting cast and their interpersonal issues, recurring themes of alcoholism, addiction, poverty and child abuse, etc. Not in a strong way, but to me this elicited a kind of "Huh," and if I wasn't already familiar w/ these themes as they exist in Peter and his friends' and family members' lives, I think the backstory here would come across as more generic/basic. Which is fine, it's 10 pages. It's just interesting to me in a lightweight kind of way where it's not clear if it was meant to connect to any that at all or if it's just a quick + simple setup for DeMatteis to write about what DeMatteis likes to write about lol
(not to over-analyze a 10 page comic or be like ''Flash Thompson Implication!'' but— lmao)
anyway tl;dr: not bad, very nice art

Most long term fans of Z are appreciative of the opportunity that being in the Spidey movies opened for her but many have the criticisms of the lack of character development over the course of 3 movies. You even posted about your issues with the way Marvel developed the character. They understand that she was playing a love interest, but you can have a 3-dimensional love interest instead of a 2-dimensional one, and Marvel had a lot of chances to make MJ feel like a real person with an actual family and goals outside of loving Peter and just spending a few more seconds would have made the love story more believable rather than suddenly have Peter with a crush on MJ even though he had ignored her existence for years. We just need to compare all the background that was given to Kirsten Dunst's MJ or Emma Stone's Gwen to see how shallow the MCU was with Zs MJ
Also we even have Tom saying that he may not go back to Spidey because he feels protective of the character and will just return if there's a story worth telling. Can we afford the same grace to Z regarding MJ?

Well, you're certainly not wrong about that. I def have my complaints about Marvel's Spiderman film (and just some of the Marvel films in general) when it comes to character development, Zendaya's MJ character to be specific, and I've voiced my concerns and opinions about this on my blog for years.
So yea, it's def no secret that I think they could improve in certain areas.
But with that said, let's be honest, this is just a Marvel movie. It's a superhero blockbuster popcorn flick. 🍿 This isn't War and Peace lol. 😅 Tbh, I've long-since given up trying to expect much character development in a Marvel film (especially for Spiderman, which is geared towards kids it seems). 🤷🏾♀️
It's not like those films take forever to make, and if Z enjoys it, and she keeps getting those Disney/Marvel coins, then I'm not mad at that at all. 😊
I just find it strange and a bit sus when some (I said some) Z stans hate Spiderman with a passion. It just seems strange. The films are enjoyed by most ppl, they make a ton of money, there's no DRAMA with the cast or franchise, and it doesn't take nearly a year to film like with Euphoria. 🤷🏾♀️

No I totally agree with you here Anon. Marvel/Disney could def do better imo. I mean, some things would only even take a few minutes to show or even mention.... like, seeing where MJ lives lol.... or her home life. We really could have seen more insight into WHY her character was so cynical in HOCO. But nope! 😒

I totally agree with you here, but I think we need to keep in mind too that Tobey and Andrew's spidey films were SONY solo films. They weren't attached to Marvel in any way. In fact, I don't even think Marvel studios existed back then lol 😆
Their films weren't tied to some "cinematic universe" or "multiverse" with 50-11 things going on that character development takes a back seat. 👀
I've been saying for years that when Tom's Spiderman was being threatened to be taken OUT of the MCU, I was actually not too upset about that, because I felt at the time that this would have allowed for better character development with MJ, and even with Tom's Peter Parker. To me, going back to Sony solo meant separating away from the MCU "universe". When you're not having to insert Ironman, Nick Fury, Dr. Strange, or other former spidey villains and Peter Parker's into the films, you have a LOT more time for character development imo. 🤷🏾♀️
But I digress.
Also we even have Tom saying that he may not go back to Spidey because he feels protective of the character and will just return if there's a story worth telling. Can we afford the same grace to Z regarding MJ?
Well I assume that if Tom isn't going to go back to Spiderman then Z wouldn't go back either? Rofl 😅😂
I def don't see her continuing on if Tom drops out. So if Tom takes on the role again, I just automatically ASSUME that the new script and agreement btwn Sony and Marvel must be good! 👍🏾 😁
