he fakes a laugh, scratching the back of his neck. "whatever do you mean, my dear?"

you sighed, reverting your attention from your laptop to him. in this house, online shopping is near impossible when satoru's around. it's painfully obvious he's up to something mischievous — or, he will be up to something.

a long stare in silence doesn't take long to break him. plopping himself on the bed, he raises both hands in a defensive gesture before speaking, "okay, don't get mad at me but i think i accidentally dyed our cat purple."

"you WHAT?!" you sit up, shoving your laptop off your thighs. out of everything he could've done, accidentally dying the cat purple was not in your list. you give satoru a simple task and trust he will find a way to make it difficult.

he waves his hands side-to-side, standing up to justify himself, "i didn't mean to i swear—" he cuts himself off, taking your hand to lead you to his disaster. "actually, just come see for yourself."

entering the bathroom, a shocked gasp escapes you. the scene is just chaotic: a bathtub coloured purple, a cat that's busy with his tail, discarded gloves, and a bottle of purple shampoo. you tiptoe around the wet floor, bending over to carefully retrieve your beloved cat from the disaster.

"babyyy, look what you did! he's purple now!" you complained, giving gojo a 360 view of the cat.

"oh my god, it's almost as if i didn't know that," he replies sarcastically, forcefully grabbing the damned bottle that started everything. this marks the beginning of him explaining the previous matter.

"i bought this a while ago thinking it was one of those colour correction shampoos, right? lo and fucking behold it turned the thing purple," he wiggles the shampoo in his hand, screwing his face at it.

you're not looking at him, too busy pouting at your now-purple cat, "hey, he's not 'the thing', his name is toots!"

"babe, that's not any better."

"yeah, yeah. unpurple my cat before tomorrow, satoru," you changed your voice's tone, replicating one that warns him of what's to come if he doesn't restore your toots back to his colour.

gojo does nothing but rolls his eyes, squinting at the cat. he's not even worried about it, he thinks, observing the way toots calmly enjoys being in your arms. the privilege he has is tremendous. he's all purple staining your clothes but had gojo been the one he would've been sent to the next year.

"stupid cat."

"did you say something, satoru?"

"yeah, i said i'll book an appointment at the pet's shop thing."

"'kay," you gave him a quick smile before it turned into a pout again. the sight of your toots saddens you. he now looks like the purple, crazy minions.

fact for fact: vedyra is very open about the fact her father is dagoth ur/voryn. she makes absolutely no attempt to hide this and is in fact very vocal about it. she does, however, completely hide the fact that her other father is the nerevarine. nobody but her, rildras, and vedathyr know who her other parent is. she actively spreads lies/rumors about who her other parent is to make it hard to tell. the most prominent lie/rumor is that it was a "beloved cultist".

Okay, so almost two months ago (yikes on my part), @piecesofeden11 tagged me in this, and I forgot about it because my spicy brain hates remembering things. So this was very hard, and I'm obviously having to exclude some absolute favorites, but here we go in no particular order:

Caleb Widowgast/Essek Thyless (Critical Role) I was attached to these two even before they became canon, but when they did become canon, it made me even happier. Also getting some little tidbits now that Essek turned up in C3 I'm just doing little dances of happiness all the time :D Wizards my beloved <3

Geralt of Rivia/Jaskier (The Witcher) Don't get me wrong I am a huge Yennefer fan, but I have never liked her together with Geralt. I can also get behind Geralt not having a partner at all, but honestly? Jaskier is SO much fun and I can totally see him worming himself into Geralt's life in more than just a platonic way. And I particularly love the pieces where he gets to see Kaer Morhen and/or where he is some sort of non-human creature :D

Derek Hale/Stiles Stilinski (Teen Wolf) This is such a random ship, but towards the end of Teen Wolf, I was laughing way too much at these two's antics. While they can obviously be read as friends, this round is just a lot of fun. :D And there are so many works that work through all that trauma! It's a great fanfiction source, hahaha.

Paige Mahoney/Warden | Arcturus Mesarthim (The Bone Season) I wanted to include these two to balance out ships because they are a bookish ship AND they are canon. Well, it is precarious since the world is kinda against them, but I know they will persevere! I just hope they shall survive the last three books! Just two people swearing their undying devotion to each other in their native languages you know <3

Wu Zetian/ Li Shimin/ Gao Yizhi (Iron Widow) I had to include my favorite badass emperor and her wonderful polycule because, of course, I had to. I can't believe Xiran Jay Zhao actually gave us these three together in all their chaotic, traumatized, lovely glory, and I am just slightly worried about book 2. We do need more fanfiction for these three, though, please.

Albedo is always busy with work, but even so, he makes time to see you. (Unless he's up on Dragonspine... That distance can't be helped.) It is clear in the way he has your interests in mind, be it by inquiring about your studies, your music-making, or in the simple act of bringing a cup of iced coffee from your favorite local cafe.

Many an afternoon is spent sitting outside the local Mondstadt restaurants people-watching. Albedo listens intently as you voice your psycho-analyses aloud, and will accompany your thoughts with sketches if the individuals in question, or the scenery that day so you both might recall the discussion. I think that hermits and evil/doppleganger/sibling hermits can fuse (kind of like Garnet from Steven Universe, being able to unfuse at any time, but usually fused together), and I have a few names and headcanons:

My first thoughts are, this is a practice of love and genuine respect for each other, similar to Garnet from the show. (also, If you haven't watched it, I recommend it, it's a great show)

Xenuma: All three Xisumas fused together. still wears the Doom Guy outfit, but wears little animal-like accessories under the helmet. Has Worm Man merch as clothes under the armor. Eyes change depending on the mood of the person that xe is near. (They all use xe/xem pronouns, as well as their fusion)

GnG: Stands for "Gealach na Gréine". A fusion of Ariana, Gealach (Hels!Grian) and Grian. Highly posh, but chaotic at the same time. Sun wears the iconic red sweater, but also has her suit pants, and wears moon's monocle. Shi also has multiple dresses. Is literally ONE INCH taller than Bdubs. Both Gealach and Grian are rebel princes along with Princess Ariana, Prince Patrick (Poultry Man) and their beloved cyborg brother NPG, who ran away from their family, who they disaffectionatly call 'The Watchers' because of the lack of privacy their parents gave them. (The Watchers, distraught, are still worried and searching for their beloved 'princesses', their maid, and their 'prince'. Also, they re all trans kids who had to run away.) Ariana uses She/They/Shine/glitter pronouns, Gealach uses he/moon/they/magic pronouns, while Grian uses he/sun/they/chirp pronouns. GnG uses he/she/moon/sun/shine/they pronouns :)

Now, on to the fusions that are in relationships:

Zedace: A fusion of both Zedaph and Aceaph (Evil??? Zedaph). A quirky scientist(Zed)/detective (Ace) with twice the creativity of Zedaph himself. Thanks to Ace, Zedace can now alter reality and have a lot of control over it. (they accidently made a person. They names her Aphmau, and she has her own reality-breaking properties. [Aphmau is actually a real youtuber, not an OC]) Ze has the Biggest collections of clothes, makeup, genders, rocks, pronouns, you name it. TWS: Stands for TimeWithScar. A fusion of GTWS and BTWS. Has a hyperfixation on clocks, right along with Bdubs. He only shares clocks with Ishett, but they are beautifully engraved with marking. Fae is part vex, part elf, part fairy, and part shapeshifter. Will not take care of himself, just won't, Period. Learned magic thanks to his hybrid parts, and only shares spells with HalfSense, who is part fairy lightself. Has a special interest in building and loves it with all his heart. Shares a cat with Els, Ishett, HalfSense, and Zedace, and no not Jellie, but Isridder Tid Samler. Its for short, this cat is a hybrid of many, many different breeds, and they are adorable. They had to name the cat with a bit of each of them in the only other language that HalfSense understands. {He/Fae/They/dawn, in order of preference. Shares a gender with Ishett, Zedace, Els, and HalfSense.}

Els: The derpiest on the server. Derpy Knight. Handsome knight man. Silver armor with purple as an accent, this knight is a True neutral. Will attack/defend anyone. Legit anyone. Loves/hate the whole server, and is in an 'alliance' (that's what it calls it) with Zedace, TWS, Ishett, and HalfSense as the ONLY people who could beat him in a fight. None of them know how. Wow, growing up in a house with free flying birds on a regular basis sounds amazing! Was it chaotic, do any notable stories (or "tenants") stick out? Besides Priscilla, whose shenanigans I read and much enjoyed :) Did you get to paint them from life that way, or were they too skittish?

The whole concept of wildlife rehabilitation was new, and so we unintentionally imprinted some birds that we couldn’t release, so they were too tame to release, and not just one, but many left lasting impressions and resulted in fascinating incidences, and yes, until I reached the age where I had to wear reading glasses, which I find makes sketching from life difficult, I did draw many of them.

For one period of twelve years, her whole life, I often drew with Zuma an imprinted female American Kestrel brought to us by my older brother when I was in my teens, sitting on my head. I often joke that I owe the fact that I’m not bald to the fertilizer she kindly deposited upon my scalp and the frequency with which I subsequently had to shampoo. I was talking about her to a colleague a few years ago and when I got to her death…a gentle one, in the dead of night, as she sat on my lap, I teared up…forty years later.

There were many others who were with us long enough for deep attachments to form, like Misty, the Northern Mockingbird, brought to us as a chick from a nest wiped out by a cat, and who would sit on my knee and sing and for reasons no one will ever know loved to punch his beak into my mother’s lipstick. I also think I owe the frequency with which I paint young birds, immature plumages, baby birds, owed much to the many my mother and I hand-raised. You are right…sketching birds is difficult because of their quickness…and often it was just a part of a the bird that got sketched. I’m wary of those artists who present detailed studies of birds and other animals in the wild, and claim they were sketched in the field from life. There are some that allow it…an owl on a branch, a duck sleeping by the water’s edge, a heron stalking prey with that slow motion movement they have, but usually I just focused on observation more than recording.

I’m not a very good photographer, but I now own a digital camera that does most of the work, and while I don’t exactly create pictures worthy of National Geographic, I do find the images useful.

Attached are some examples of pictures of actual birds. The first three show Jesus (pronounced Hay-soos…a common name in the countries where they are native) who was the first Painted Redstart ever to occur in Canada, which he did late in the fall ahead of a blizzard. Desperate for food he entered an apple shed in search of fruit flies where he was captured and since he could not be released without sealing his fate, he was given to my mother and me.

We allowed him the freedom of the apartment we lived in so long as he went in his cage for the night. In summer I caught insects for him and year round we fed him fruit flies, root maggots and meal worms we raised as well as other foods and he lived for about eight years, never being really tame but not in panic, sort of an understanding. If I put the insects in a jar in the fridge it would slow them down, then I’d bring it out and he’d wait for them as they emerged through holes I punched in the lid, or we’d take the lid off and he’d plunge into the jar.

The third one is a finished colour study of my beloved Zuma, and the last is based on sketches of Misty.

The last one is one of my more detailed field sketches illustrating what I said about sleeping birds being easier to draw in the wild. I often threw away my field sketches since it was the doing of them that was important, but I kept a few, like this one of Canada Geese quietly resting in shallow water.

Julie giggled as she watched Luke and Alex wrestle each other around the studio with crossed arms, shaking her head fondly. She looked down at her plants, taking note of one that looked particularly dry. She looked up to locate the watering can, walking toward Luke who currently had Alex in a choke hold. Well, at least it wouldn't kill him.

"Time out for a sec!" She called, making a time out sign.

"Yeah, Jules?" Luke grinned.

"Hand me the watering can, please."

"Oh, sure." Luke picked up the watering can and gently placed it in Julie's hand, blushing when Julie kissed his cheek.

"Thanks, Luke. Continue." Julie hummed and walked away to water her plants, smiling at the sound of chaotic yelling.

Julie hummed and bit her lip as she sat in bed, totally not half paying attention to Luke and Willie drafting a plan to go to the Hollywood sign to change it to Hollyweed as she did her crossword puzzle.

"So then you make the police car alarm go off like you do-" Luke continued.

She smiled at that, perking up at one of the words. "Five letter word for ghost." She prompted.

"Spirit!" Willie offered with a grin.

"Thank you, Wills." She grinned back and blew a kiss, finishing her puzzle.

Julie sat on her bed with Flynn, happily decorating paper snowflakes to hang up in her room and the studio. They had been going at it for the last twenty minutes with no intention of stopping anytime soon. "I am having so much fun."

"Same! Except I think this marker's running out of ink." Flynn chuckled, shaking the marker to get more ink at the tip.

"Oh, I have some more in the studio. Hold on." Julie put her scissors down and jumped out of bed, running outside to the studio. She furrowed her eyebrows as she walked in on Carlos filming Reggie and Willie playing music on her old iPod while Luke and Alex sat in the background playing cards.

She scoffed and shook her head, walking inside to grab a few extra packs of markers, waving to her phantoms before walking out.

"Hey, guys! Did I lea-" Julie stopped in her tracks as she took in the sight in front of her: Reggie trying to spin on his head while Willie loudly encouraged him on her left, and Alex trying to teach Luke how to do the worm on her right.

"Hi, Julianna!" Luke smiled and waved, making Julie blush.

"Hey, Lucas. Did I leave my headphones in here again?" She asked.

"Oh, yeah! I put them on my couch for safekeeping until you came for them."

Julie smiled appreciatively and grabbed her headphones, giggling as he tried to worm again. "Love you guys!" She said and walked out.

"Love you, Julie!"

i think my fav AU trope is the teacher au where (take mattfoggy for example) matt and foggy are teachers at a school. they’re not particularly hiding their relationship, but they don’t outright say it. foggy is beloved by his students and the students are terribly intimidated and afraid of matt. but like they’re the teachers that visit each other’s classes all the time and do prank wars. foggy turns his kids into matt lovers bc hello that’s his husband, and one day the students all find out and it’s utterly chaotic. to me, it makes the brain worms so incredibly happy every time i see a teacher AU

Yes I adore teacher aus because I want to give my favorite fictional character my dream job!! Like ugh just imagine falling in love with another teacher and eating lunch in each other's classrooms and writing lesson plans together and grading papers on the couch together and excitedly showing each other a student's paper because they've improved so much and like they get it because they're also a teacher and just as passionate about the details of education <3<3<3 oh my goodness it's the dream

Okay but to hop on the mattfoggy teacher au what subject would they teach? because most schools don't have a government or politics class and if they do the coaches teach it or it's double-booked (shout out to my poli sci minor, this is precisely what I'll be doing when I'm a teacher) so I'd like to think that Matt and Foggy both got poli sci degrees despite being told over and over again that it is not an employable ed degree. So Matt teaches English courses and Foggy teaches theatre but they are constantly competing for the coveted one ap government class and the other one has to teach civics. Matt, with no special ed certifications, closely monitors all the IEPs and 504s despite the fact that this is not his job but by god, he will keep this school up to code with the ada. Foggy runs the GSA

but also consider, an AU with a similar vibe but I think works even better. Law Professor AU. Matt gets tenure by his first three year review and Foggy also would have gotten it if he didn't psych himself out when admin was reviewing his lectures. Matt can basically do what he wants and he knows that admin would never actually fire Foggy so he's constantly doing things at him that would get anyone else fired. "Matt, I know that you love me and that we're married but please don't grab my ass in the middle of a lecture." "What are they going to do, fire me?" "They'll fire me." "No, they won't." "Okay, but they can."
