Aha its silly hours.

Nikto who holds you so tight when he feels himself losing that his nails claw and dig into your back because that's what he's doing. Clawing, the pads of his fingers stretching your skin because even as close as he is to snapping his own spine he wouldn't try to intentionally hurt you.

Hands wrapped around your waist and chest so tight it makes breathing just a bit harder. Your face pressed up against his chest as he heaves, fast, shaky, like his heart was trying to burst. He would cry if he wanted to, if he could. But no, he's not even there.

You don't need to look up to tell that his eyes are wide, pupils almost fully dilated as he stares off into the wall, where there would be a distance. Hands clutching and cradling you so close it's like he never wants to separate. And right now? He feels like he's going to shatter if you try to.

It's silent save for the sound of his heavy breathing. Even as you take off the mask for him, his breathing doesn't change. Like a man drowning, he's suffocating himself.

And he shifts. Slightly, the movement after hours of stillness is like a dam breaking, trying to get back to reality as he slows his spiral. Changing positions to clutch around your chest and shoulders in a death hold. Trying to forcefully calm himself down as he pulls you up and forces his head down on your shoulder. Actually suffocating himself in your skin to slow his breathing. Unhealthy.

Nikto who comes back a little more empty. Still voiceless as his eyelids finally relax, grip relaxing the smallest amount as he finally wraps a leg around yours. Smudging his lungs with the scent of you before he lets out an exhausted sob. Not crying, just sobbing until he stops feeling like he wants to tear his nape apart.

It's been three hours and the only word he has ever said is a singular, "Stay."

Nikto who forces you to stay with him in his small empty apartment from a day to a week, delivering your clothes and paying for your food as long as you stay still when he holds you tight enough to squeeze your stomach. Everything staying quiet is the best thing for him mentally, barely even having the energy to talk some days as he just gives you the phone in the evening for you to order whatever your heart desires. Do not disturb on.

Nikto who finally speaks a full sentence a couple hours later, "You should move in."

And so a week turns into a month. Mismatched clothes against each other in the closet. Two widely different shoes near the door each day. Multiple toothbrushes in a cup and another cup just for you.

He's quieter when he's just with you. But he's at peace.

there’s something SO specific about smg’s performance in mid season seven where she goes like. almost entirely neutral around spike in a way buffy doesn’t naturally, so it comes off extremely intentional and like. the way you can tell buffy finally understands how she feels is that she very specifically does not let it show but she also like. holds herself around him like she knows he can tell anyways? i am delusional but there’s Something with her faces around him that are so so so aching it’s crazy…… “i can be alone with you here” but physically because she lets herself be Still and just Look

I was watching Chapter 15: The Believer yesterday and something stood out to me that I guess I'd never really thought about before...

When the Juggernaut is getting attacked by the Pirates, we see several shots of Din struggling without his armour. It's a new way of fighting for him and he struggles to adapt at first.

He quickly rallies and skilfully fights them off, though. But more pirates soon appear and after fighting them off, Din is thrown backwards. He sees several pirates approaching.

Din lies down in defeat, powerless to fight them off without his armour or weapons. Knowing his death is likely imminent, without hope of survival.

Instead of giving up and accepting defeat, he does not allow himself to wallow in despair and mystery. After sighing deeply he steadies himself and gets right back up:

Facing down death as the pirates approach, he does not show weakness or fear.

He doesn't allow himself to be cowardly, or dwell on his likely impending doom and the fact he has failed in his quest to rescue the child he loves so much...

Instead, Din stands there with his fists up, outnumbered and without weapons, prepared to fight to the end even in the face of certain death...

Fortunately, of course, the TIE Fighters appear to save the day and Din succeeds in his quest to rescue Grogu and, well, you know the rest.

But I think this little moment in one of the best episodes is such a good insight into his character.

Standing up with his fists clenched like that, outnumbered and hopeless but refusing to accept defeat is perhaps one of the most Mandalorian things he's ever done. Yet only a few minutes later he removes his helmet and that act leaves him rendered an apostate in the eyes of his people. Told he is a Mandalorian no more, even.

It's kind of heartbreaking because he really did not deserve to be told that. Mandalorians are proud warriors, who never give up. Being a coward is the worst insult in Mando'a, their ancient language. Here, Din showed that he is nothing of the sort.

Din Djarin is as honourable a Mandalorian as they come.

Kenta

Okay. It is once again time for me to talk about my number one little man. I was interested in Kenta from the very beginning, and at some point I realized that I was not going to be normal about him, but I really did not anticipate how much he would come to mean to me. I hope y'all have enjoyed witnessing my descent into feral blorbo state. It is not over for me in the slightest.

I want to say that Garfield really acted the shit out of this role, and the writers knew what they were doing when they cast him. His arc was so important to the overall plot, with his growth being pivotal to Tony's downfall, and yet he had a relatively small amount of dialogue to work with (although certainly not the smallest amount of the cast).

A lot of his scenes involve him standing in Tony's office, taking instructions, or even just simply observing. A lot of his lines are based around business deals and errands—rather than furthering his emotional development. He doesn't give big speeches, he doesn't talk about his feelings or his dreams, it's always just "I'm doing xyz for Tony, and I will never betray him."

Some of his most dialogue heavy scenes are in one stairwell with Pete and in another with Tony, which I think are extremely pivotal moments, both of which reveal a fear of abandonment.

But it's honestly when he's quiet that he says the most.

And I love that, I'm obsessed with it. I love that the whole fandom could insantly tell that he and Pete had something going on, just from the way they looked at each other. I love that the storytelling in his arc was so highly visual.

In the beginning, Kenta appears to be nothing more than Tony's lackey: quiet, intimidating, and actively complicit with what is going on.

But as we see him more and more, it becomes exceedingly apparent that he cares, so much. I know I am biased in saying this, but I do also pay close attention to what other people are saying about Kenta, and I know almost everyone has been waiting the entire series to see him stand up to Tony. The amount of acting that Garfield did with his eyes, while remaining such a stoic character, was insane.

Despite him repeatedly declaring his loyalty to Tony, despite the fact that he does not reveal any actions against Tony until episode 12, we feel so much of his inner conflict.

I think for me, personally, the aspect of Kenta's character that I relate to the most is his inability to speak up when he wants to. I've struggled with selective mutism my entire life, and there have been countless, countless scenarios where I've had so many things to say and no ability to say them. The more dire the situation, the more my words fail me. I have to spend so much of my energy constantly planning for potential conflict scenarios just so I can have the time I need to figure out which words to use. Because it can sometimes take months for me to figure out certain phrases. And because it is so painful to stay silent when you want to tell someone to stop. To stop fighting, to stop hurting each other, to stop hurting me.

So I was beyond moved and proud to watch Kenta finally be able to protect his brothers and quietly say the one thing he has wanted to say all along.

Don't hurt anyone anymore.

I will take some of the words that P'Chod gave to Garfield before they went into production. "It’s just you want to live in a peaceful house and be happy together.” All we want is peace.

I wish that Kenta had not been forced to kill Tony because I don't think he has ever wanted to hurt anyone. But I'm sure as hell not sorry that he did it. There will always be people who are unwilling to stop.

And I recognize that Kenta tried a peaceful method first. He gave X-Hunter what they needed to put Tony in jail, and Tony refused to give up. He was never going to be the kind of person who would simply surrender. To him, these people's lives are property that he is entitled to.

Here is an auto translation of something Garfield said about Kenta at the final episode screening.

"I already knew that Kenta would be similar to me, in that I'm someone who doesn't dare to express my feelings to the people around me, saying very little. So when I got the role, I felt… that it teaches us that as long as we dare to be ourselves and do things that make us happy, that's enough."

We may never know what happened to Kenta after Tony died, but I hope he is able to find his peace. I hope he is able to engage with restorative justice, and I hope he is able to learn what family really should be.

And I hope that someone, anyone, will give him a goddamned hug.
