"It's going well, I think," Effie whispered to Monty, who nodded at his wife, grinning.

"I like him. I have to admit, he's not what I thought he would be, though," Monty murmured, looking across the room.

It was true. James was so larger-than life and attention-grabbing; so loud and, Effie had to admit, dramatic. But Regulus, James's boyfriend who he'd finally agreed to introduce them to, was quieter. It had struck them as strange that it had taken so long, since Regulus was Sirius's little brother, and Sirius had practically been their adoptive son for years. But they didn't know a lot about Regulus. Just that he had taken longer to cut ties with Sirius's problematic family, and that their son was absolutely crazy about him.

He also seemed nervous and a bit skittish, though when he did speak, he came off as extremely smart. Though both men looked at each other with stars in their eyes, it was certainly a different match than what James's parents had been expecting.

When they interacted together, it made all the sense in the world, though. At least in Effie's opinion. They were natural opposites in the best way, and Regulus seemed to bring out the best in James. He'd never seemed happier.

"I'm going to do the dishes," she announced, standing and exiting the room, waving all of the boys off as they got up to try to help.

But as she began to get to work, the short, curly-haired man who had been glued close to James's side all night entered the kitchen, balancing a stack of plates.

"Oh, let me get those, dear!" Effie jumped over to grab the stack from Regulus's hand, eager to help.

"Thanks, Mrs. Potter," Regulus smiled softly. "The meal was wonderful. Was that thyme I tasted?"

"Oh, thank you, dear. It was! Do you cook?" she asked as they began to fall into a rhythm of washing and drying together.

"A bit. I learned a lot of family recipes as a child, and it was one of the few things my parents insisted on teaching me that I actually enjoyed," Regulus shrugged, meticulously drying a plate.

"Interesting," Effie frowned, speaking over the running water. "Did they make Sirius learn, too?" Sirius had become a permanent fixture in their household long ago, but had never mentioned learning how to cook.

Regulus just snorted softly. "No, they only made the girls learn."

It took a moment for Regulus's admission to sink in, and the dish Effie was now washing in the sink slipped from her hands as she realized. "Oh!" she said softly, her brain catching up with the conversation.

Regulus's eyes grew wide as he, too, figured out what had happened. "James and Sirius never told...?" His face, which had previously had a small smile playing on his guarded features, grew nervous and almost cold.

But Effie wasn't having that. "Regulus," she said firmly, grabbing his arm with her wet hand and refusing to allow him to turn and walk away. "It doesn't matter to us," she stated, looking the terrified man in the eye, making sure he understood she'd never been more sincere.

The gray eyes that stared back at him grew wide and watery, and he blinked a few times before nodding and letting out a shaky breath. "I- okay," he mumbled. "Sorry, I- It's just, my parents were-"

"I understand," Effie murmured, movign her hand up to squeeze his shoulder.

Nodding again, Regulus visibly relaxed, turning back to the dish he had been drying.

"It won't matter to Monty, either," Effie clarified, squeezing his shoulder again and returning to the sink. "As long as you and James love each other and you support his Quidditch team, he'll approve."

Chuckling, Regulus smiled. But after a moment, he turned to Effie, frowning. "What Quidditch team? Because James likes the Chudley Cannons and I can't even pretend to like-"

"No, he likes Puddlemere," Effie laughed, pulling him into a hug.

aka what if Eva died in s3 and haunted Tommy

She dies in his arms and yet the next morning he awakes to find her beside him.

“Did you think a physical death would kill our story, mi vida?” the witch asks as a cold hand cradled his cheek as she used to do when she was alive.

Same nightgown she wore to sleep, dark hair neatly braided and her chest rising and falling with every breath she took.

It is when Tommy reaches out to her thinking everything had been a terrible dream that he knows the woman in bed with him is merely a ghost of her. Blood trickles out of the slowly forming bullet wound that killed her and before he knows it, he is drenched in it.

He cannot move, he can only ask one thing: How?

“I’m a witch, darling, the veil between this world and the next is too weak to keep us apart.” She pins him like she was so fond of doing, kisses him and the mortal man relishes in the familiar taste of the woman he had been married to for four years.

The blood disappears, the wound as well as they give into their longing even if she’s only been dead for less than a week.

Tommy awakes alone, almost strangled by the nightgown she had left on the bed the night she died and with a hangover from hell.

And yet, the moment the whiskey touches his tongue she appears on his desk, sitting cross-legged in her favorite winter outfit as if she’d never left.

“Are you going to be doing this every time I drink?” he asks the ghost who only smiles.

“Did you say something, Tommy?” Lizzie asks from the other side of the library, having come to help put Eva’s affairs in order. They had been good friends, worked well together and now Elizabeth Stark was here to make sure the transition of Eva’s charities and other shit went as smooth as the dead woman haunting him would have demanded.

“Just talking to myself.” He lies because he doesn’t want to end up leaving poor Charlie without a father too.

“Good boy.” The witch whispers as if Lizzie could hear her.

Before he knows it, Shelby is waiting to be alone so he can see what summons his dead wife to stave off the loneliness she left in her wake.

He drinks with the Russians, and she’s there bored out of her mind in a fine black dress he liked ---because of how her tits looked in it--- telling him every dirty secret those sick fucks have as he pretends to give a shit beyond getting the job done. He hunts down a stag with his brothers to say goodbye to their undeserving father and she’s there right beside him complaining about the weather.

He gets drunk enough to fuck the Duchess and it's his wife possessing the woman whom he fucks that night. Then it happens again when the dead woman convinces him to try and see if it works with Lizzie too.

Tommy doesn’t know what will happen to him if she ever leaves for good. Already he feels the ache for her when he wakes up to find its some other woman in his bed and not her.

Then Hughes leaves him at death’s door on Good Friday. Those hours or days he was under the heavy drugs had him live out a fantasy with her. In that dream world she was alive, the baby they’d only learned about the week before was a beautiful little girl with his blue eye and her brown one, and then they were on the beach they made love in during their honeymoon when the bubble bursts and he's taken back to the land of the living.

He wakes up with her telling him his time will not come because she won’t ever let him die without keeping his promise to raise Charlie for her.

“I cannot leave until you join me, mi amor. And I won’t let you leave until Charlie is old enough to make his own way in the world.” She plucks the cigarette from his hand and smokes it herself craving a taste of the world she left behind. “He needs you now more than ever.”

“But I need you, love, I can’t go on without you.” He pleads with the ghost as the laudanum bottle shakes in his hand.

Mary, the housekeeper, had no idea what she was encouraging by telling him to take his medication. She thinks it calms him because he’s too drugged to be reminded he lives in hell with paradise just within reach.

“I will leave if you take your life, Thomas Shelby.” Eva gives him no choice, takes the bottle in his hand and spills the liquid down the sink for him. "I would never forgive if you if you left Charlie without a father knowing how much I love our son."

HAHA okay so like clover is my combat medic OC that basically just bullies his way into @bunnysnared's fledge's life after his several visits to the medbay.

sit tight and let's talk about all things clover! (ㅅ´ ˘ `)

bare essentials (what makes clover... well, clover):

• big lad (6'3ft/190cm) • 31 y/o • rank: sergeant? (he's been PMC for a while) • clover has this choppy mullet situation because he hates short hair, but needs the sides trimmed for his headset to sit snuggly. u won't see his forehead often lol • piercings that def need to be taken off for an op - 3 on his right ear - 5 on his left ear - a labret piercing (lip) - and many more! (😏) • a neck tattoo of a stag skull and a wreath of laurels surrounding it • his lucky coin (that he bets other's lives on) • a freggie charm (a weird frog thing he adores) • an ambiguous accent (sounds like he's from london, but he definitely isn't)

the story so far or whatever:

Clover was a medic for a task force specializing in interrogations and intel gathering, but was thrown to the wayside after a traumatic back injury that temporarily takes him out of the field. Retirement isn't an option for guys like him, so he's made a medic on a uk base with his own little office. he hates paperwork, but what can u do, ykno. his bedside manners are horrible and his superior Fish isn't too happy about that, but he's too good at what he does to let him go (and even has clover trained for a position as head medic to replace him lmao). he settles into the routine of a sterile environment and possibly says goodbye to getting back out into the field. but here arrives fledge, in for a patch up. and another. and another. clover becomes a lil obsessed with him (read: falls in love with him) to the point of training to get back into a task force fledge's on as their combat medic. the captain likes him, so he's inducted in without any problems. or smth. LMAO. the rest is clvrfldg history.

what the bastard is like:

clover doesn't care for regulations. its obvious in the way he looks. he's one step away from being kicked to the curb and dishonorably discharged from medical malpractice. (i.e: coin tossing if u live or die or if he should give you anesthetic lmao) but he's damn good at his job, so they don't want to lose a great asset like him. all smiles that don't reach the eyes, and eyes that never shine, he's unreadable. you won't get a lick about his past or anything about himself. its like pulling teeth because he'll redirect a conversation back to you. very observant (and a bit of a sadist lol). uses it to his advantage as a medic, its what keeps him sharp (and a bit mean). will notice the little details and patterns and use what he can to turn things in his favor. manipulate mansplain manwhore or whatever lmao

Do you think Lily’s patronus makes sense as a Doe? Because when I think of Does I think docile, timid, fragile, sensitive and fearful and Lily doesn’t quite match that description. I know patronuses aren’t always 1:1 with the wizard’s personality but usually there is some overlap (Sirius is loyal and protective, James encapsulates the positive and negative qualities of a stag with his leadership and strength but also the toxic masculinity, Remus is needing of a pack and is also clever etc.). So do you think there is some part of a doe or what they symbolizes that fits with Lily’s character OR do you think her patronus changed to match James who’s already was a stag?

If you’ll allow me to ramble about my own theories here for a minute than I would like to say that I actually believe that her’s changed. I think this mostly due to JKR saying this in a interview awhile ago when someone asked if it was a coincidence that jily had matching patronuses: “No, the Patronus often mutates to take the image of the love of one's life (because they so often become the 'happy thought' that generates a Patronus).” Her statement implies (or more outright states) that there was a change of patronus for atleast one of jily, And since James was already a stag animagus at 15 we can assume that his patronus was always one (further evidence is that McGonagall’s patronus and animagus is both a cat).

I personally believe that patronuses are a manifestation of hope, the desire to go on, and the idea of what to continue living/fighting for (“The Patronus is a kind of positive force, a projection of the very things that the Dementor feeds upon — hope, happiness, the desire to survive” from Lupin, and then Luna says this while helping Harry conjure one in DH “"We're all still here," she whispered, "we're still fighting. Come on, now...”). So I think given this it makes a lot of sense for Lily’s patronus to change to reflect an image of James. She is a targeted individual in her new small society that is at war and there isn’t much hope to be found anywhere, but she finds hope in James because he represents the life she wants to have that’s not connected to the war, a normal happy family. Her “happy thought” in the midst of death and destruction is family and love (also meaning this is what she wants to preserve and fight for, and it is ultimately what she dies for.)

It’s also interesting that her patrounus takes a female form, we know it’s possible for characters to have a patrounus that differ from their gender but that isn’t the case here. And while I know the doylist answer has to do with JKR’s views on femininity and gender in general, from the watsonisan perspective this could mean a couple things:

She is a doe because her hope lies within her being James’ wife and partner (like the family thing I said above. It’s not about the title or status of being a “wife” but about the normalcy, safety, intimacy and love that it represents)

She is a doe because her identity is separate enough from James where she wouldn’t mirror him but instead be her own version (possible, but less symbolically satisfying to me lol).

Or is it just something else entirely?

Also I consider you a lily expert so if you think this theory is trash or missing something lmk lmao

omg wait this is very interesting and absolutely NOT trash!! to be honest with you, I've thought about this a little myself before and never come up with a wholly conclusive answer. But personally I think it's very possible that Lily's patronus might have changed. I skirted around this issue in my fic by not having Lily produce a corporeal patronus until she was already with James lol.

Re: the doe, obviously in real life many prey animals are skittish, shy, and fearful because that's how they survive. This includes male deer too, because they will also startle easily. But I think that Lily could definitely be said to have qualities that are doe-like in a more symbolic way: grace, beauty, a gentle and caring nature, devotion to her young. I think it is an animal that fits Lily in many ways, and I think the symbolic/mythological meaning associated the animal is maybe more relevant than how the real animal behaves in the wild.

But even though I think Lily has doe-like qualities I don't think this precludes her patronus having become a doe because of James. It's more about the person she grew into, alongside James, than her identity totally changing because of her relationship. I think it still represents her, she IS the doe but she just grew into that person over time.

If Lily's patronus did change to mirror James, I REALLY like your idea that it reflects what she most cares about, that James (and what he represents to her) becomes her happiest thought and what she's fighting to survive for. Not just James, but later also Harry- whose Patronus is also eventually a stag.

As for what it might have been before (or had she never met James) it's a difficult question! I recently assigned patronuses to all the order members for ease of writing and lowkey I feel like I've run out of animals lol. I could see her as some kind of bird perhaps (I always feel like I default to giving people birds though lol) maybe a dove... or a seabird of some sort. I've always really liked the storm petrel, which is thought of as intrepid and brave and is known to fly through terrible weather, it cares for its single young, and has apparently been used as a revolutionary symbol. There's something really beautiful and dignified about them to me, they're lonely but resistant which could fit Lily's position as a Muggleborn amidst the war, if she hadn't fallen for James and joined the Order with him. So that's my first thought-- I'd be open to ideas though!

There's a lot more to come but I just haven't gotten around to them lol. I've been making a little uhh... fic surrounding them I changed a TON of stuff. The plot obviously, kind of warrior catified it and some changes just came along. Charles will be next & the rest of the supporting gang members will be drawn... eventually.

Notable changes:

Redrabbit & Harepoppy (Sean & Molly) are siblings! And Red/Sean is older than Stag/Arthur. Was his mentor.

Sadie and Abigail are merged, as Addergale (get it. Adler-gail). Nothing against either of them I love them dearly but I felt it'd be fun to have a character who could be John/Wolf's love interest but also Stag/Arthur's best friend.

Stag/Arthur has lung cancer instead of TB. I had this idea that instead of the Downes & the bank robbery which kills Hosea, there's going to be a huge fight with the 'pinkertons' (Skyclan) & the 'o'driscolls' (Windclan) join in as a show stopper. Theres a lighting strike which sets the battlefield on fire, which gives WC & SKC the upper hand, taking Slate/Hosea hostage & giving Badger/Dutch a chance to back down- He hesitates, and they kill Slate/Hosea 😋

To show how Dutch/Badger always preached "Revenge was a fool's game", yet didn't follow it & taught this to his sons, Stag/Arthur bolts after the killer of Slate/Hosea, who goes down a Windclan tunnel or a rabbit hole (have not decided) which has been filled with smoke from the fire. Stag/Arthur kills him, and in turn signs his death warrent.

Just because your favourite fic isn't here doesn't mean it's not good; it could be potentially for a variety of reasons (I haven't read it yet, I have just not this month, I don't vibe with that character, etc).

Pen! I love you dearly but making Draco's patronus a stag feels a bit like cheating!! What would it have been otherwise to represent just himself? *CRIES* A dragon? It makes me really sad to think Draco was so in love with Harry that he adopted his patronus. *cries some more*

okay so! Draco’s patronus. Last time I posted this story I got similar remarks, but the way I view it, Draco’s patronus being a stag like Harry’s doesn’t mean he was necessarily completely romantically in love with Harry (although honestly… who wasn’t at least a little in love with Harry). Yes, there was definitely some attraction there, but Draco said himself in hauntingly that he preferred girls, and knew he’d have to marry one, so he never had any illusions that he would be running off into the sunset with Harry Potter when all things were said and done. He was fiercely protective of Harry, seeing how close they became in grimmauld, and that was especially true after the locket fiasco. He was, admittedly, jealous of and annoyed at Ginny’s flirtatiousness with Harry when she showed up, but that was partly because those two had a bit of bad history at Hogwarts the year Harry was gone. And the aforementioned fierce protectiveness of Harry. Ginny was a legitimate threat as far as he was concerned, and not nearly good enough for his new best friend Harry Evans Potter.

sooo. Yeah. In my head, sure the stag was out of love for Harry. But I think that love could be several different kinds of love. Everyone likes to point out Severus’s and Tonks’ patronuses as examples but I like to look at Harry’s, personally - how his was a stag like his dads, because he was thinking it was him before, and that was who and what he envisioned protecting him when he needed it most.

but to answer your question… I don’t know what Draco’s patronus would have been! In the hauntingly world specifically, if Harry had lived……. Hmmmmm…. Maybe it would have been a peacock lol snape is usually right

What if everything worked out just as darkling wanted to but a few hundred years into their relationship Alina falls in love with someone else again or cheats on him? Will he be as insane and unhinged about it like he was in the trilogy? This also makes me think of éminence grise darkling and how will he react to Alina actually being loyal to Nikolai. It's clear that he isn't taking the whole arrangement with Nikolai very well like he's barely keeping it together lol. I just really want Alina to you know hurt him in ever scenario lol and cheating/dumping his ass is like probably the best way she can do that.

So "what if everything worked out just as he wanted" is pulling a lot of weight here, because there are so many variables. Do we mean in the sense that Alina never minded his entire magical enslavement and world domination scheme? That she did but just submitted to him anyway? Because the more realistic scenario where he wins everything looks more like Alina being held in captivity and hating his guts forever lol but then that's not really the vibe of the question But sure, let's say Baghra never did the thing and Alina was just uninformed enough that he managed to convince her that every step of his plan was absolutely necessary and she's gone along with it. You brought up Eminence Grise and yeah that would basically be how that scenario goes if they were to get the stag suddenly. She questions him plenty, but she's pretty ride or ride in that fic. But additionally, she already bitterly resents him and it hasn't even been a decade. Like, as cold, and withdrawn, and controlling as he is, he really doesn't need mass murders and magical enslavement to push her away lol but add that in and she’s going to maybe go along with his plans and even believe that he’s right, but she’s also going to hate him for it, at least a little bit And then give it a few hundred years and you presumably have an Alina that is completely disillusioned with him, and who has become herself much colder (his own influence!) and more difficult to emotionally control, even if she’s resigned to otherwise capitulate to his desires. So I suspect he'd already be plenty unhappy with the situation before introducing someone else into the mix, because what he wants from her most, what she represents for him as the concept of the sun summoner, is emotional affirmation. Someone who through blind idolatry and belief in the fact that he’s been right about everything ever will justify his own choices and eternal unhappiness to himself. Which a real person could never actually provide, in the first place, but he’s going to be especially upset with a scenario where she’s been his worshipful protégée for some time before deciding that she hates him

But then throw in her taking a lover, already apparently for the first time in a century, then I think he probably would blow a gasket! Not necessarily even out of jealousy at first but from the simple fact that his control over her is slipping further and further Plan A would probably be murder. Just get rid of the interloper. If that's not an option, or he can exercise some self restraint and consider that Alina would likely find out and not forgive him then Plan B would be to sanction that relationship somehow. If he's letting it happen, then it's within his control now, and is also no longer necessarily an escape from him. He can magnanimously welcome this third person into the relationship with open arms, maintain a strict hierarchy while they are around, and then quietly discard them when he's made sure that the relationship has soured by sheer association with himself. Which isn't to say, that's how neatly it would go in actuality, but that would be the plan. And he would definitely be internally like livid about it the entire fucking time, if that helps at all

I basically only have the single interpretation of these characters, to the point where it can get boring over multiple fics because things get repetitive lol but like in this case you can see that undercurrent in the other darknikolina fics I have written. There is basically a similar cheating scenario in this fic (I used to call it the S&S bad ending but it's not even the worst S&S ending I've written anymore). Where he's like "You are sleeping with Nikolai? No, we are sleeping with Nikolai" and in inserting himself, wrests control over the relationship* If that doesn't work/he still feels threatened, he probably would just do something drastic and try to drive some sort of wedge between them. Whether or not the transparency of his jealousy and malice backfires depends entirely on how much power he might hold over her, like literally. If it's a captivity scenario then she can't do much. If they're just like... supposed to be happily married or whatever then hello trilogy level blow up and falling out. And the thing is, he is petty, and he is volatile, and can be pushed to do drastic, stupid things in the name of getting the last word, so he could very well self destruct entirely because he was just that vindictive *That is basically eventually what he's going to try to fall back on in Emminence Grise as well. Though it's not quite going in the same way because Alina would be in a very different emotional state

The Agency she work for (which is mostly referenced as such because I have no name for it atm) is in the first idea some sort of spy/secret ops company. They will do the dirty work their country doesn't want to get involve in. They have good paycheck, nice advantages, anything like regular work company. So you know seems like a nice place to work for. Till you dig deeper and found some dark secrets.

So far the idea I have with the serum, the one that was given to Anisoara when she was just a baby, is that is should work in the same line as the serum in Captain America. Make stronger, better soldiers. But obviously, it doesn't quite work well. In fact, Anisoara is so far the only test subject to still be alive/fully able body. Well if we forget the mutated arm, she is in a good health. I should really get a little more into her story, because I had some good betrayal ideas :3

A little random fact about Ani. Althought not used often, she got the callsign "Stag". It came after one mission, where she was badly injured, almost left for death. She can't recall much between the time she was clinging to life in the cold forest and when she came back to her sense in safe place. But she vaguely remember a stag guiding her, helping her. People think she was delirious but, maybe she was right 👀

I could see why it gives a little be spc vibes. I won't lie I'm sometime on tiny line to let it all go in that direction, but that would be sooo much work to checkout the whole spc idea (I know there's not real canon, a little be free for all, but I dared to check the wiki at some point and I needed five business day to recover from all the informations I read lol)

so curious about what freya didn't tell saga and why. we know so little about freya and I doubt remedy will ever explore saga's family in a straightforward way, but she's also very much between at least two worlds in an intriguing way

I know Saga mentions off-hand that her mother told her the mind place was just imagination, but that's all I remember and I haven't had much time to play lately. Freya was obviously a loving mother, if her card and the knitted sweater and Saga's fondness for her are anything to go by, but we can pick up on some distance there that Saga noticed - if I'm remembering correctly, she comments on how Freya never spoke about her family and wonders that same thing, how her mother didn't tell her things.

if I had to guess, it was probably for the same reason that Mr. Door decides to play along with the story - to protect Saga. Freya didn't part from Tor and Odin on good terms, and I think the game states or implies that she had the same psychic abilities that Saga does (I have GOT to find time to finish NG+ and get details straight in my head, lol), so I'd assume she knew just how dangerous Cauldron Lake and the world of the paranatural is.

I can't remember if it's implied or if it's ambiguous, whether Mr. Door was already Something Else when he and Freya had their thing. no records of him, like Hatch in QB, but was Cauldron Lake the beginning of his woes or a step along the way? (Hatch has a mostly established reason for being the way he is, and I'm just going to work under the assumption that he is A Version of Mr. Door. I also need to finish Quantum Break for real, LOL.) but the idea that Freya got down to business with someone who was already Something Else, and that she may have been aware of that fact, is VERY interesting.

also thinking a lot about how Freya hides many things from Saga, and how Mr. Door has yet to reveal himself to her, and the similarities there.

ALSO curious to know how much the deer motif represents Mr. Door and how much it represents Freya. Mr. Door doesn't have much direct association with it that I can recall, except for Mr. Deer = Mr. Door (thanks, Remedy) and some graffiti in the Dark Place that depicts a deer head with lightning in its eyes, but we can infer a lot from the fact that it's Saga's motif and deer often symbolize spiritual transitions and travel (much like doors do). and for Freya, we can connect her to the mythological Freyja for many obvious reasons, but if we include the deer motif, then her twin Freyr can possibly be invoked too (for her? for Mr. Door?) - Freyr gave away his sword and was later forced to fight with a stag's antler (something that also dooms him to eventually die in Ragnarok). in Room 108 in the Elderwood Palace Lodge, unlocked by Saga interacting with all the deer heads, there are a couple of skeletal deer heads and a saw, with the implication that the saw is used for removing the antlers. and the deer head in Saga's mind place speaks with a feminine voice.

HOFAS Thoughts and Review!

This is also my review on Goodreads. Naturally, this is full of spoilers so proceed with caution!

This was a wild ride from start to finish. I found that you jumped right into the action and it literally didn't stop. The crossover with ACOTAR was very info-dump but I didn't mind since a) I don't remember anything lol and b) we needed to make the connection. I really loved seeing Nesta and Azriel in this different element. Given the timeline between ACOSF and HOFAS being about 3 months, I loved that Azriel and Nesta now know how to fight together and Nesta is so in touch with her powers. I love seeing how their friendship has bloomed.

Bryce is a menace and will forever be one. She's one of Sarah's MCs I relate to the least and therefore needed to warm up to her more. I found that in this book, I could despite a lot of her arrogant moments that will rub people the wrong way. I love Quinlar's love but didn't appreciate that she minimized Hunt's reaction to basically reliving much of his trauma with the first war. I'm glad she apologized and got to the point of understanding him but it left a little meh of a taste. The ending scene where he goes after her had my heart in pieces!! Through love, all is indeed possible and I love they were always with each other through it all.

Bryce basically being the High Lady of Dusk and controlling the land was amazing! I loved seeing those scenes. Saitha being the one to kneel first, declaring her as queen? Loved that. The two fae kings dying an awful death? Fabulously done! Hunt mf Althar removing his own slave halo and then removing Isaiah's while calling out that governor lady on her shit??? ADORE! Jesiba's everything in this book? I salute you, queen! Sabine's death??? The Under-King's death??? Literally had me gasping so much.

Ruhn my love, you will always be the Crown Prince of the Fae and that soundbite will always be on repeat every time I see your name lol.

Ruhn x Lidia's romance fell very flat to me. I love Ruhn and hated everything he had to go through but Lidia's character felt out of left field for me. I expected better/different? We find out out of NOWHERE that she's a mom of twins and suddenly, that's her whole personality. She went from this badass agent to everything being about her kids. There is NOTHING WRONG with her being a mother but why couldn't she be a mother AND care about the cause because it's the right thing to do? This was a missed opportunity in my opinion. I also felt like this was very self-insert of Sarah being a mom to have to include another character having kids. The constant talk about all these traumatized idiots having babies is getting on my last fucken nerves tbh. They have a million years to live so can we, I don't know, let them LIVE for five seconds without the absolute need to "start a family"? Let them go to therapy damn it. Sarah constantly writes about how awful it is that fae are obsessed with breeding and whatnot, yet every single of one her characters talks about babies...pls sarah, I beg. Give me ONE otp that doesn't have children. I know she's a HEA author which is what I love about her and her romances but it doesn't always have to end with kids and I just wish we'd see that more. Ruhn and Lidia did not strike me as characters who would be parents at all but now, Ruhn is a stepdad to the Hind's secret twins? It's very weird to me but I hope maybe down the line, we get to see Lidia realize that she is a whole person outside of being a mom. Aside from all that, the rescue scene was amazing. I loved seeing her destroy that asshole she had to endure and I just want to say, Aelin would be cheering mad hard at her for it! It felt like Lidia's fire abilities, the stag relation, and her son's name were all a nod to TOG and I loved that.

As for all the other characters, I really enjoyed seeing Ithan come into his own even though my guy was making mad stupid decisions along the way. His moment with Connor will always have my heart! l also loved the little bits of Ithan and Perry so much! Tharion my love, you will always be famous for making the most desperately dumb decisions before passing that one brain cell you have to Ithan but you know what? Sathia is going to be great for him and I ship it with my whole chest. Ari was wasted in this book and her ungrateful attitude annoyed me. Sigrid's whole plotline was pointless. Declan and Flynn are the best buds and I love them so much. Baxian, you are a gem! Pax being the one responsible for the actual HOFAS while being a healer who is making those antidotes was a great twist and I love it for her. The little fire spirits were so cute and their little moment with the viper queen made me cackle. The Viper Queen can suck it but I am also so very curious about what will happen now considering how that scene ends with Tharion/Ari/Sathia/Colin. I have a feeling all these characters will be showing up again in the future and I'd be excited to read how that will go. I have a feeling it might be done ACOSF style - in that, it'll be standalone in the CC world.

Bonus Chapters:

Bryce, Azriel, Nesta - hilarious and also so cute how Nesta was fascinated by the music playing from Bryce's phone. Azriel doesn't have a mate or partner so let that be clear LOL. Also Nesta already thinking about babies makes me wanna die tbh.

RuhnLidia - It was cute that she proposed and Ruhn is such a little dork crying left and right hahaha.

Quinlar - Hilarious how the big strong thunder boy was scared of those little dolls HAHA.

Ember/Randall - This made me want the Archeron sisters to have a mother figure so badly! The moment with Nesta and Ember hugging was so sweet in the book. I know people are mad at Rhys for yelling at Nesta but y'all...the whole world was at stake and that was a scary decision to make on Nesta's part given how the Pyrthian is STILL traumatized by the Asterie. I don't love how much he yelled but I get it.

Despite having parts I didn't like, I did overall really have fun with this. I think Sarah always does a great job with the action scenes in the end and giving us that found family connection. I could do without having the whole girl boss/girl power white feminist nonsense constantly shoved in our faces but alas! As I said, I still really enjoyed it! It had a lot of moments that pulled on all my emotions as every SJM book does. I will always enjoy what she puts out because I take it all at face value and read it to have fun. Sarah always knows how to enjoy her writing and you can tell while reading and for me, that's more than enough. The lore/plot is secondary to the characters for me and that is always how she sucks me in. She writes compelling characters who have amazing adventures and friendships that you feel through the pages and I will always enjoy that. Can't wait for more books! Here's to hoping we hear something about ACOTAR soon especially now that Bryce gave both swords back to Nesta! Can't wait to see how it plays out!

i don’t understand the people that say eleven only held platonic love for amy what scenes do you think disprove that?

i think that love is all consuming. i actually do not really care whether the love between eleven and amy is called platonic or romantic or both or familial or whatever you want to call it, i care that the doctor loves amy more than he loves anyone else. that’s what is so romantic to me.

some scenes that make belie the doctor’s love for amy; amy’s choice (nini if you’re reading this i am gonna go more in depth about this when i answer your ask LOL) because the doctors subconscious CLEARLY recognizes that amy is in love with him and he reciprocates to some degree.

a lot of the s5 (and even s6) doctor/rory scenes have this antagonistic energy between them, on the doctors part too! the doctor comes to respect rory and he likes him as a friend/companion, but on a deeper level he will always hate rory because rory is The Boyfriend. anyone that amy is in love with the doctor will compete with. that’s why he makes innuendos at rory’s stag party (the man knew what he was doing.) and the doctor gets all pissy when rory doesn’t buy his manic pixie dream boy schtick and they compare dick flashlight sizes and the doctor (+amy) treat him like he’s a pet. (basically all of vampires in venice)

i also think the way the doctor treats river, his love interest, compared to the way he treats amy is deeply interesting. the show specifically draws parallels between river and amy and how the doctor looms large over their lives, and how they both couldn’t not love him (6x01). and they give river such. amy energy.

but eleven holds this disdain for river that comes out when he gets frustrated. he doesn’t like that the universe has basically told him he will be in a relationship with river. and he takes it out on her! river is someone he feels comfortable being mean and cruel to, with the expectation that she will just. figure it out. or not be hurt by this behavior. (TWORS). he treats her in a way he would never treat amy, because he might be a manipulative bastard but with amy at least he’ll do it with kindness and tenderness because she’s someone he actually respects.

biggest moment of this is in TATM when river has to break her wrist to get out of the weeping angel’s grasp. she has to do this because amy read about it and the doctor uses this as a teaching moment for amy, nevermind that river is literally fighting for her life. he’s always so gentle with amy and in the very same scene he turns around and yells at river to fucking figure it out and he doesn’t care how. (he was angry. at the thought of losing amy. so once again river becomes collateral.)

it’s a bunch of little moments that build up the fact that the doctor respects amy more than anyone else.
