(This is long, I'm sorry, I'm incapable of shortly summarizing things)

Ok. So. I (26NB/FTM) am not in love with my best friend (25F), I'm ace and either aro or demiromantic (honestly not sure anymore). But I do love her as much as I can love anyone, probably. To the extent that I would want to be in a committed relationship (qpr I guess) with her and genuinely want to spend the rest of my life with her.

The thing is, she's neither aro nor ace and has only recently (last year) started overcoming fears and anxiety enough that she's gone on dates and wants to try having a relationship. It wasn't easy for her to get to this point and her anxiety is still a major thing she deals with, especially now trying to have a relationship. I know she doesn't love me romantically (not that I would particularly want her to) bc I'm firmly in the friend category and she's said that she can't fall in love with friends (though, again, I don't… want her to be in love me? Since I'm not in love with her either).

I want her to have these experiences. We're both still young and while I just don't need or want anything in that regard, I know it's different for her and in a way it's her finally being able to be herself, live for herself and do what she wants (she had a rough childhood and was basically the one raising her little brother). So, I really do want her to have these experiences and I'm not really jealous either bc I know I'm still more important to her ("bros before hoes" and all that, even if the hoes are guys lol). Though I have to admit it's recently been getting harder being genuinely happy for her when things go well with dates and I suppose I'm a little worried how things will be a few years down the line.

But we're very close. We've been friends for 8 years and best friends for almost as long. We tell each other everything. She's the most important person in my life and I'm the most important person in hers. We get mistaken for a couple constantly, at this point I'm pretty sure everyone in our families has at some point thought we're together. My mum basically treats her like a daughter; she's spent the last 3 Christmases with my family. Besides her brother, I'm the only person she truly cares about who she doesn't get anxious about. The reason I'm going to be moving back home after uni is because she still lives in the area; if she lived somewhere else I'd move there (that's not me being one-sidedly codependent btw, she would absolutely do the same). The jokes about how we need to die at the same time bc neither of us would want to live on alone are really only partly jokes.

Now, here's (finally) where I might be an asshole: When we were in school our friend group consisted of four guys, me and her. All the guys had a crush on her, though some she only found out about later. My best friend, at the time, identified as a lesbian (it's bi probably now). The guys knew that. Now this one guy she only found out about last year at a class reunion (I wasn't there) and he was being all weird about how he'd seen all the times they went to the movies together as dates etc. She thought they were jokingly calling those 'dates', we all did. Again, he knew she identified as gay and never actually said anything about being in love with her. He was also giving off incel-y vibes when she talked with him at the class reunion, so there's that.

We talked about that and well, I kinda admitted that there'd been a moment yeaaaaars ago (like 5?6?) where I felt myself fall in love with her and mentally went 'nope, nope, nope, not doing that (falling in love my best friend) again' and then… it didn't happen. Don't know how that worked. Either way, she made me promise if I ever did actually fall in love with her, that I would tell her. We were laughing about it but I know she was serious about that.

I don't plan on telling her though. I meaaaan I'm not in love with her, technically, which yes, I know, she would probably mean this too. But I know that, at least at this point in time, she doesn't want the same things I want and I want her to have these experiences of dating guys and being in a (allo) relationship etc. I don't want our relationship right now to change either and I know she would try to be considerate and I don't need or want that. I don't want her to overthink what she can or can't tell me, I don't mind hearing her talk about the guys she's dating and I want her to still come to me with everything. I know how she works, I've been basically managing her anxiety for years (genuinely do not mind that before anyone comes talking to me about boundaries) and I know I'm one of the few people in her life who try to let her come to her own conclusions/decisions instead of telling her what they think is right and/or what she should do (she's very easily influenced unfortunately and while I do tell her my opinions if she asks for them, I always try to let her come to her own conclusions first). I don't want her to lose all that. I don't want her to suddenly be anxious about me either, that is genuinely the last thing I would ever want.

TLDR: My best friend made me promise her that I would tell her if I fell in love with her, which I'm technically not, but I do want to spend the rest of my life with her & would want to be in a (queerplatonic) committed relationship with her. I don't want to tell her bc I know it's not what she wants, at least right now, and I want her to make her own experiences and I don't want our relationship to change with this.

I love how so many of the DJATS fandom can agree that Billy>> Eddie. Also yeah, Eddie took advantage of Camila's vulnerability in ep 6. Would it be ooc for him if I made him even more weird towards her in a fic? (I mean, there's writers who make Billy a bad dad, and ones who vilify Camila, so why not?)

Is that so, I was under the impression that Billy was universally hated. I stay away from the fandom. Maybe it's not as bad as I think, huh.

Eddie just gave me mild incel vibes from the start, from the very first moment they showed him, when he fluffed his hair, my first instinct was, he looks like a Redditor. I don't choose how I feel at a given moment, I don't go into things with the intention of thinking a certain way about them (okay maybe sometimes I do, but it was not like that with DJATS). It's not the actor, bc I had seen interviews with Josh and he didn't give me that impression. Book Eddie was one-dimensional, his whole personality was hating Billy (the actor who voiced him in the audiobook sounded angry all the time), but the show didn't improve on him much. Eddie was in the same band as the husband of the woman he had feelings for. He chose to stay in that band. When he saw she was upset, it would have been easy for him to figure out why, he was literally in the studio with Billy and Daisy every day. If he was an outsider, it would be different, but he knew the situation. If he's that great a guy, then there are ways he should have handled it better. Talk to Billy, comfort Camila; if she came onto him, he should have said "you don't really want this, let's get you home". And that line "I'd choose you over everyone", like he never spoke in such a poetic way before and in fact had previously laughed at Billy's songs dedicated to Camila. (Also, the same line appears in the book Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell, a book I recently mentioned in one of you previous asks, funny how that happens.) That's bc the writers wanted people to ship it and knew people would use it as their OTP tag. (Srsly, they did look online to see what the fandom was saying, it was in one of the articles. That's why they messed up.) Bc they played up the Daisy and Billy thing, but knew they couldn't justify cheating (they had enough sense for that), so they came up with Eddie and Camila to even it out. They knew what they were doing. But even all that would have been fine, after all, humans are imperfect, if they at least let Eddie have a better ending (I'd like to see him accept the fact the was not a rockstar of Billy's calibre and find his niche, maybe writing music scores or going into a different genre, or even switching to a different form of art, like painting, and find love). He's far from my fave but that doesn't mean I want bad things for him.

Otto is the hard one to explain here, manipulative bastard, nearly everything bad that happened in game in Honkai is bc of him. Not to mention he has an obsession with this girl he fell in love with like 600 years ago but she didn't like him back because she was a lesbian lmfao (Yeah he's immortal😒). So when she died he tried to bring her back to life. This lead him to make a clone of the girl he liked but the clone ended up hating him, rip ig. So here's a scenario. You're one of the successful clones of the girl he loved (Her name is Kallen), perfect and resemble her so much in every single way. And so basically he keeps you n shit, gaslights, manipulates, and gatekeeps you from everyone. You can add another scenario where clone darl tries to escape him but Idk that might get too long.

I won't force ya to write for them but jesus christ these men right here have MASSIVE yandere vibes. Honkai men have so much more trauma than Genshin men it's so funny 😭😭 plus none of them look like boys or young these are GROWN MEN and they got the goods😳

he is fine, but when I see the excessive praise he gets for literally anything and how people sweep over some pretty bad character moments, I'm left thinking "he really not that good"

he can be lovable, I like some of his relationships and he has some interesting storylines but I'm just not on the sam dick riding train really.

Quinn fabray

For my taste, Quinn just lacked that special something that would have compelled me to want to see more of her because by the end of s3 I was completely fine with her leaving for good, and I wish she hadn't returned in s4 because the way she acted was borderline the same way she did at the beginning of s1 which made her whole story seem like a waste of time.

idk I get the appeal in some ways but she doesn't appeal to me, and I feel like they just kept on rehashing the same three points with her which just got annoying and exhausting to watch after a certain point

the unproblematic king. Call me old fashioned but a character having flaws is what actually makes them interesting to watch, or even idk... if the character does literally anything. sure he doesn't do "problematic" things... but he literally does nothing to all which isn't fun to watch

are we surprised?? I get that there's a healthy dose of brittany slander on Tumblr, but not liking brittany on tiktok is like kicking a puppy, there's plenty of "what?? how could anyone not like brittany??" and it's so weird to me that brittany get's viewed as so universally loved and nice, when she's really a massive cunt to everyone half the time

Ah, Luis. People either call him a simp, or they like him. I personally have come to the conclusion that if he wasn’t in love with Vanessa, he would’ve saved everyone a LOT of…problems.

I do want to know why Luis was moved, though. Maybe the writers thought he would be too close too Vanessa. (“Apparently, the IT department has put together a pretty lengthy report chronicling non-job-related communications that have been coming to your computer.”)

Honestly yeah probably. But looking back, it was a bit of love at first sight for him, which can happen. Happened to me- tho it was one sided

And looking deeper, he mentioned how before at his younger years, he didn't have any experience like dating or hanging out since he was always so focused on work and just...didn't know how to socialise really. So I'd assume he's something like me i guess

For me personally, i feel like them making him have a crush was a way to make so Vanessa would be able to get away with what she did even if where she worked at would be vigilant bout it, plus it was a creative way to show what she was doing and what was happening without outright telling you like fnaf usually is with lore. But that doesn't mean it was unnatural either, he liked her bright personality, how she looked and everything as he says in the emails, that was what attracted him to her, and its not a bad thing, bc that does happen, ppl do fall in love with others that way, usually just a crush, but it happens. Personality and looks is what attracts others to you, or have you attracted to that person

And that was also a great start to introducing her, have someone who wants to be close to her so to point out indirectly to the fans how she started to change and how she was affected. As then luis starts to point out how slowly she changed

It's implied they talked alot before, and were close colleagues at work so it wasn't out of nowhere or superficial imo.

And like many say he's a creepy hell even a incel. But i dont see it that way? They seem to skim some parts of the whole thing. He genuinely seemed to care for her, even when she never accepted his request to go out for coffee, he was never rude or mean about that. And he was really worried about her, how she suddenly started to change, how her brightmess left her and she started to do questionable things, and not just in a "she's my crush ofc i will care" sure it started like that, but he slowly started to sink in worry about how much she was changing, and not in a good way

Time for my Entrapdak rant (a.k.a. why Hordak was better for her than literally anyone else, a.k.a. I’m not bias I swear)

as I read through Entrapta/Hordak/princess gang discourse on this site I started to realise the reason why I loved Entrapdak so much in the first place, and I will now talk about that here (some of these points are stolen from better posts). ALSO no matter how much I shit on other characters just know this isn’t an attack of any of them. This is gonna be VERY ENTRAPTA FOCUSED.

OK SO we get introduced to Entrapta pretty early in season 1 and we get to learn a lot about her. It also quickly becomes clear that she’s neurodivergent - something confirmed to be intentional by many of the creators. Entrapta has a passion for technology, science and inventing, and (same as the previous princesses) the best friend squad decide they need her in the alliance so she can build them weapons (whICH SHE NEVER ACTUALLY DOES i think BUT THATS NOT THE POINT). 

Throughout the episode though, the squad (mostly Glimmer bc she’s the one who gets to closely interact with Entrapta the most... Adora being completely out of it and Bow with the kitchen staff) seems to slowly run out of patience for her - Glimmer very obviously puts up a front of tolerance despite her frustration. This is unlike the other episodes, where all the princesses get along in the end and become best friends oh boy! So... we have our only neurodivergent character so far who isn’t really welcomed into the group the same way as the others... and her autistic behaviour is only tolerated because they need her... okay, maybe that’ll change later.

Or not? When Entrapta joins the others on the quest to save Glimmer, she is constantly infantilised by the others and not taken seriously. She runs off to study Horde tech and actually helps rescue Sea Hawk, two very helpful things, but Perfuma talks down to her like a child and PUTS HER ON A LEASH? SHE’S 30!!! SHE WAS TRYING TO HELP! And no one tells Sea Hawk off for getting lost and alerting Scorpia to their presence, which wasn’t helpful at all. Then later, Mermista says she’ll keep an eye on her “in case she decides to befriend any more robots” like okay... she isn’t a child, and she didn’t run off because she wanted to play with robots or something?

Okay, so, Entrapta is left behind, which I won’t blame them for because it definitely looked like she died (they get over it pretty quickly but I digress), and she comes across Catra. Okay! Here’s a chance for Entrapta to make a true friend, right? Or not, because Entrapta and Catra’s friendship is built entirely on manipulation. At least Scorpia was sincere. 

Here Entrapta is again, in a position where she’s being used for her skills and in a we’re-sort-of-friends-but-I-only-tolerate-you-because-you’re-useful situation, with Scorpia probably being her only true friend at the moment. She starts helping out the horde, because they actually let her do what she wants and at the very least don’t treat her like a child. Then, she stumbles into Hordak’s lab.

I’m gonna say this now because I’ll get murdered if I don’t - Hordak is a bad guy. He does bad guy stuff. But so does Entrapta sometimes (I’ll talk about that later) so good morals don’t need to play into their relationship I think. It’s about how they treat each other.

At first, Hordak is very defensive and angry towards Entrapta, as he would be to anyone coming in to his lab without permission and discovering his secret portal project. But then she fixes said portal and he immediately sees her as an intellectual equal. Again, Entrapta has had to prove herself to someone by making herself useful, but it actually goes further. ALSO can I say how Hordak is the ONLY person who interacts directly with Entrapta who doesn’t treat her like a child or emotionally manipulate her, with the exception of Wrong Hordak, Emily, and Imp of all characters... Even Scorpia is guilty of this later.

So, Entrapta and Hordak start working together, and Entrapta is obviously very excited to have someone treat her as an equal (they’re lab partners!!). On top of that, Hordak is also happy to have someone he can actually trust. Catra and Scorpia at separate times both remark on how Entrapta spends all of her time with him now, and who can fucking blame her when he’s the only one that has literally spent all this time growing close to her and understanding her as a person, not just using her, not just tolerating her, not talking down to her constantly. Hordak opens up his trauma to Entrapta and she responds by opening up a bit in return, literally saying that she doesn’t fit in and that Catra doesn’t even talk to her anymore. They are obviously comfortable around each other, and if Hordak was manipulating her, then why was he so distraught when she was taken away? Why did he CRY??? Why did he consider giving up on his life’s purpose and abandoning what is essentially his god for her???

Anyway, stuff happens, and Entrapta shows that she isn’t the irresponsible child everyone thinks she is by agreeing to shut off the portal. But of course, Catra betrays her and sends her away. To die. How nice. Catra tells Hordak that Entrapta betrayed him, and instead of flipping out and turning all Hal Stewart incel “if I can’t have you no one can” he just gets sad... and then later all he really wants is to see her again, even if it is on the battlefield. I’m not sure what he would’ve done so we can’t say for sure, but I seriously doubt he wanted to hurt her.

sidenote - I’m not gonna blame Scorpia for letting Catra doing this, Scorpia had her own shit going on and was essentially trapped in an abusive relationship and she also later makes up for letting Entrapta down by getting her rescued

SO then the best friend squad go to save her from Beast Island, and she’s literally completely given up. Gee, I wonder why. Could it be because it seems like every friend she’s ever had has abandoned her, scolded her, or outright zapped her unconscious and sent her to die in a monster filled island? But the squad save her and affirm to her that they didn’t give up on her and that they’re still her friends. Actions speak louder than words, guys, but okay, cool! To Bow and Adora’s credit, they were the least patronising and mean out of anyone... so, that’s something. Anyway! Affirmations! Some respect from her friends! I hope this lasts... 

It didn’t! Season 5, Entrapta goes along with the others to help find out where Glimmer is. Here is where I quickly have to say something - Entrapta does indeed make some ‘evil’ and stupid decisions sometimes - hacking the black garnet, building robots that attack her old friends, walking out absentmindedly in front of a robot and compromising her team. Some of these things can be explained by her neurodivergence, but do not always justify it. That being said. Entrapta is not evil, she is not stupid, and her “weirdness” does not give her friends the excuse to treat her like a child. 

Here’s where it gets bad!! Perfuma puts Entrapta on a leash AGAIN!!!!!! WHAT? Writers? Wyd?? Not only this, but the others talk about her behind her back, and then scold her without any consideration for how she, as a neurodivergent person, was interpreting the situation. They could’ve explained their feelings to her in a calm way, instead of shunning her and expecting her to pick up on their cues, then exploding at her when they didn’t. THEN THEY CALL HER A BAD FRIEND.... and I feel hypocrisy in this chili’s tonight... and then Scorpia... doesn’t say anything? Girl help. Ik we can’t totally blame her since she was new to the squad and probably didn’t wanna get kicked out or yelled at like with Catra, but please... that is your friend...say something. also why did mermista need to pull her hair and then later say “you’re still a weirdo” like what. why do people ship them? because mermista cried when entrapta ‘died’? Okay??

I think Entrapta actually goes through some character development after this which is pretty cool - she outwardly expresses her concern for Glimmer, which is affirming to her friends the squad, and later at the end of the series, intentionally keeps herself focused during the most high stakes moment instead of running off. I’m not qualified to talk about if these traits, which could be considered traits of autistic people, deserve to be treated as flaws to be fixed, that’s a whole other bag of worms, but yay character development.

Finally, at the end, Hordak properly reunites with Entrapta and he decides to rebel against his creator and his purpose to save her life, showing that Entrapta, and their connection, is his priority now. And once Adora saves Hordak from Prime (thanks Adora), the two finally reunite in a spinning hug - that is literally the most physical contact either of them have had with anyone, how could anyone not believe in their connection and mutual trust???

Mermista gives us one last jab, an understandable one considering Hordak was conquering their planet for years on end, but still - “so, are we all just like, okay with this?” yes girl, we are. He’s literally the only one who ever treated her with real respect and love, the only one who ever prioritised her.

I know some people are gonna be like “just ship her with wrong Hordak” and if you really like that... go ahead I guess? But do we need to force a clone who just got control of his own mind into a relationship, or a girl who is very much in love with someone else into a relationship with one of her friends? You can do what you want though, it’s literally fine, I’m the one who just spent over 1500 words talking about why a 30 year old science woman should go out with an alien warlord.

In conclusion - Hordak and Entrapta deserve each other, because Entrapta deserves someone who treats her right, and I love her.

.... Omg! Can you please give us analysis of each character and how they are portrayed in the book and then the movies?

Oohh ok! (I’m just gonna go thru the characters and how they are in the book vs how they are usually portrayed in adaptations. These things do not apply to every single adaptation, or even necessarily one specific adaptation, full disclosure, lol) (also this will be very long, so, it’s under the cut.) 

Mina: 

~ In the book: kind, sweet, caring, motivated, intelligent, interesting, funny. I could go on and on. The protagonist. She IS the moment. She could defeat Dracula without the men but the men could not defeat Dracula without her. I said what I said. 

~ In adaptations: typically kind, but may or may not be any more intelligent than the men. Typically portrayed as a damsel in distress, though in the book she isn’t. Almost always Dracula’s love interest. Sometimes she even low-key betrays the Crew to help him. Her personality is very often reduced to one or two traits/archetypes so she can better fit the role of Dracula’s love interest. 

Jonathan: 

~ In the book: Damsel in distress. He can sometimes come across as boring, because he’s the only very average person in the book, but that’s because he’s supposed to be. It’s a compare and contrast type of thing. Even then, he’s incredibly brave, and incredibly determined. He represents the average person, rising up to the challenge. 

~ In adaptations: oh, Jonathan?? You mean the only reason why Mina and Dracula can’t bone??? Yeah but it’s fine if Mina cheats a little bc also he’s an asshole for no reason ://// 

Lucy: 

~ In the book: A delight. Absolute angel. Everyone loves her and she loves everyone but not always in the way they want. If she could she would move all of her friends into a little cottage and bake bread and make tea for them for the rest of forever. Part of the reason why her transformation into the Bloofer Lady is so scarring is because she was genuinely so good-hearted before that. 

~ In adaptations: lol she has three suitors so she must be suuuuper promiscuous (side note: not a bad thing but most adaptations portray it as such), and also because of that she definitely wanted Dracula to turn her into a vampire. 

Arthur: 

~ In the book: Lucy’s fiancée. Also he’s fuckin loaded so he helps fund the whole expedition. Interpretations of him change kinda drastically because he’s not given much canon personality or back story, but he’s overall a pretty decent guy. He can be mean but, like, in a loving way. 

~ In adaptations: if he’s there at all he’s usually Just Some Guy. Which, like. fair.  

Jack: 

~ In the book: a psychiatrist who desperately needs to see a psychiatrist but he is not self aware enough to know this. Used to be Van Helsing’s student. He definitely can be an ass (especially to Renfield), but it’s usually more that he just doesn’t think how his actions affect other people all the way through than him actively being a terrible person on purpose, if that makes sense. Him and his interest in science and technology symbolize the heralding of the new age, which is in contrast with Dracula, who is only ever “living” in the past (bedum tsss). 

~ In adaptations: sometimes he’s Van Helsing’s peer rather than ex-student. Usually he doesn’t still keep a phonograph, or even an active interest in technology, which is...a disservice. He can either be nice, or mean, usually not very nuanced or interesting. Honestly I feel like usually in adaptations he’s kinda just used as the gap to get Van Helsing there and then he does nothing after that.  

Quincey: 

~ In the book: literally the guy who kills Dracula. A Texan, as well, which seems funny now but at the time it was a fairly common trope to add in a foreigner. He’s pretty calm always, especially in a crisis, and also willing to step up and do whatever’s needed of him. And, again, he literally kills Dracula. Easily one of the more important characters in the book, except he doesn’t keep a diary so most people don’t acknowledge this. Also at one point it’s stated he’s rich af iirc so that’s funny. 

~ In adaptations: what do you mean we should add the guy who killed Dracula??? Nah it’ll be fine without him 

Van Helsing: 

~ In the book: he’s the hero of the story (not the protagonist, that’s separate). Him and Dracula are character foils. He’s the guy who knows everything about vampires, and also the guy who specifically knows how to stop Dracula. Even then, he isn’t a professional vampire hunter, or even, like, an expert. He just happens to know a shit ton about this. His name means “father of multitudes” and he is the Designated Dad of the group. He probably makes everyone hot cocoa and tells them weird stories about spiders drinking oil from lamps after a long day. 

~ In adaptations: murder grandpa is an asshole who also has no idea what he’s talking about because it makes Dracula look better 

Count Dracula: 

~ In the book: the villain. He could represent a lot of things — anything from a plague, to the past creeping up and not staying buried where it should, to Stoker’s internalized homophobia, to Stoker’s own xenophobia or antisemitism, or all of the above, or none. He has a lot of layers and each layer is a new level of villainy. We don’t know a lot about him, admittedly — who he was in life, why he became a vampire, what all of his powers are, or even his motivations for coming to London. He can represent any evil we want at all, which makes him a very affective villain. Also he’s supposedly related to Atilla the Hun which is funny af to me for no reason 

~ In adaptations: incel!Vlad III 

Renfield:  

~ In the book: admittedly, he does not have much baring on the plot. He tends to act as a meter for how close Dracula is at any given moment, until his death when Mina takes over that role. However, he introduces many themes and topics into the story: insanity, corruption, idealization of evil, etc., and he and Lucy work together to showcase how vampirism corrupts and how it can destroy even relatively innocent people. Even though Renfield has a bit of a reputation of being violent and volatile, he only ever really does something violent once, which wasn’t even entirely of his own volition and he sacrifices himself for the greater good. 

~ In adaptations: oh no scary evil insane man1!!11! he’s obviously just horrible it’s not like Dracula is manipulating him!11!! if Dracula were to manipulate him then Dracula wouldn’t be a sympathetic antihero :((( 

The Three Weird Sisters: 

~ In the book: the antithesis to Lucy’s suitors. They are supposed to be seductive, and dangerous, above all. They might be Dracula’s victims, or they could be some other vampires unrelated, we don’t really know. Not much is said about them and that’s likely very much on purpose. They have the same air of mystery about them as Dracula does, if not more. A lot of the horror in this book is based in the fear of the unknown. 

~ In adaptations: walking boobs with fangs. Usually so much is changed about the story that none of the above is even relevant or can be applied to them.

Your bewilderment is perfectly understandable, given the three characters you mentioned: Vlad, Faust, and Charles, were all released exactly one year ago for the second anniversary of the Japanese game's release! (The Japanese Version of Ikevamp is about 2 entire years worth of content ahead of the English version. For example, in the Japanese app it is currently the third anniversary of the game's release--not the first.) As such, those three characters are temporarily exclusive to the Japanese version--they won’t be appearing in the English version for another year, at least!

More details about who they are beneath the cut (I’ll be doing my best to minimize spoilers, but talking about them usually necessitates some level of spoiling future content): 

That being said, that doesn't clarify who they are, yeah? Let me get into that! In several routes there are allusions to an unnamed antagonist; somebody who is turning people from the past and causing the residents of the mansion a great deal of distress as a result. For instance, in Mozart's route, we run into the famous Antonio Salieri; Mozart's historical rival in composing music (and esteemed colleague). There is no explanation in regards to his origins (and we know Comte didn't turn him), and he leaves peacefully with no larger conflict in the end of the main story.

This, however, is not the case in every route. Resurrected historical rivals/acquaintances range from seeking reconciliation to deranged with vengeance. When the more violent/desperate characters come into play (as with Isaac or Jeanne’s route), questions arise as to who is targeting the residents of the mansion (who other than Jeanne would recognize Gilles de Rais? and who turned him if it wasn’t Comte?) This unnamed pureblood who is turning human beings from the past is revealed right before the release of Shakespeare's main story--largely because he starts to play a more major villainous role in the routes that come after. His name is Vlad--or as he's more colloquially known;Vlad the Impaler, Vladislav II of Wallachia, the Romanian legend of vampire mythology.

We learn Vlad's larger motivations in Comte's route, and he essentially has two discrete goals that we can identify as of now:

1. Finding the secret of immortality in order to turn humans into pureblood vampires (lesser vampires are only partial immortals; they can survive for hundreds of years, but eventually die--purebloods cannot die no matter how many years pass). Reason why? Because pureblood loneliness go brrrr

2. Ruling humanity via unilateral despotism, more or less (he loves humanity in a...weird way....). He says to Comte that he wishes to turn/use the talented men of history in order to sway humanity into eternal nonviolence. Essentially, he wants an international state of surveillance that all leads back to him to create world peace. He develops this aspiration after seeing a devastated future in the time-traveling door (he made the one in the mansion with Comte, and he made another one when they parted ways in his castle disguised as a cathedral). He believes that control is the only true method that will save humanity from itself, and will preserve the beauty of the world he loves so much (once again, he’s;;;;;; really weird..........it’s like how White Men^TM believe Lord of the Flies is the Ultimate Truth in regards to how society “inevitably” functions when like...society has constructs which are technically malleable if the people making decisions give enough of a fuck? Anyway ignore me, I just can’t help it Vlad is such an incel clown sometimes jklghdd)

Now then, Faust and Charles are two lesser vampires from the past who were turned by Vlad. They seek to further Vlad's goals and are at least partially under his control (he is able to manipulate people's perceptions/thoughts/dreams via a kind of telepathy). They often act in Vlad's stead and spy on the residents of the mansion. Faust is a pastor/doctor who is doing research to accomplish the immortality Vlad is seeking for humanity. There are only allusions made to it, but he experiments often on the vampires Vlad has created (including Vlad, and probably Shakespeare too given his...affiliation) to achieve this end when he’s not fronting their cathedral. (If this sounds mafia-like to you, congratulations! You get a cookie!) He is presumably the German alchemist Johann Georg Faust noted in historical records, though given the game’s writing it is highly possible elements of his personality are somewhat intermixed with the literary figure “Faust.” 

Charles is based on the historical figure Charles-Henri Sanson, who was the royal executioner for Louis XVI and High Executioner for the First French Republic. (Essentially, he was tasked with killing enemies of the crown and the newly founded government before and after the transition period of the French Revolution. The man saw rivers of blood, one can only imagine...) He is our genki French guillotine baby who just wants everyone to get along really, really badly. Problem is Comte = k n i f e at Vlad and seeks to protect his children, so Vlad’s castle remains a dumpsterfire danger zone where three vampires + 1 insurgent live in absolute chaos. If Comte is the sweet, responsible father of the game Vlad is basically like...that single mother who has children she does not properly supervise/feed and the neighbors are always inches from calling Child Services.

Bonus: In case you were wondering what they looked like, you can see them integrated into the Japanese game’s intro screen with their respective character summaries. They are listed in the following order: Vlad, Faust, and Charles.

April: 15 years old, trans and bi. local fifteen year old telepath finds out that not everyone is able to feel what other people are feeling, something she’s been able to do since she was six after she played in that one weirdly glowy puddle (early Kraang mutagen attempt that only managed to mutate April in the sense that it gave her telepathy, was originally intended to make humans become part of the Kraang hivemind). she’s largely unfazed by the existence of mutants and aliens, taking it in stride, and finds out about the Kraang - and meets the turtles - while snooping around TCRI business (aspiring journalist that she is) and accidentally witnessing the mutation of Snakeweed. her telepathy, which later as she grows in power alongside the turtles extends to telekinesis and basically possession, is very useful whenever she gets into a scrap since she can predict what moves her opponent will make, thus letting her dodge their blows effectively. personality wise she is a very determined and driven young girl, incredibly curious (and cannot mind her own business, she wants to know all the drama while not having to be part of it... which makes her very fortunate to be a telepath. listen she’s 15 she’s allowed to misuse her powers a little bit. as a treat.), playful, and cheerful, and she’s an extroverted autistic. in her spare time between her studies, she likes to play bass, sing, read, and write. that, and investigating whatever shady business is going on in town, and she makes it very clear to the turtles that even if they weren’t going to deal with the Kraang, she’d continue to try to stop them herself. she would like to not live under the threat of her or her loved ones getting mutated, thank you very much! and, you know, it’s kind of exciting. kind of.

i know it’s bc i have brain issues when it comes to parent figures but i am very much leaning towards Splinter not being... a good dad. i don’t think 2012 Splinter is a good dad anyways but i’d probably amp it up, make him a mix of 2012 and idw probably. i’m still mulling it over but like, remember in the season 1 finale when leo is watching his show and thinks the captain guy making a totally unnecessary sacrifice is a heroic move, and then Splinter tells leo (his fifteen year old child) that leo should know what or who to sacrifice, more or less telling him to sacrifice his brothers’ lives, potentially?? i know there was a lot at stake but hello??? i remember watching it and being like me: ah i see, this is showing that splinter is wrong and there is no need for any sacrifices as seen in the show when the captain Goes Down With His Ship for no reason other than just sacrificing himself, and leo will see that- leo: *tries to sacrifice himself twice in the finale, both times being kind of unnecessary/seemed like if he had just hurried or done something slightly different there would be no need to stay behind, and he gets out fine with no consequences, seemingly no injuries, and does Not learn anything, his brothers don’t even get sad when they think he died or get mad at him for pulling such a dumb move) me: surprised_pikachu.jpeg

anyways. Donatello: 15 years old, bog turtle, nonbinary (he/they, doesn’t mind being called brother but doesn’t like to be called “boy” or “girl” or whatever), bi. he isn’t in love with April. no creepy incel shit here. donnie is instead more like a mix between his Rise and 2003 self. he has trouble expressing himself and is pretty introverted, but he is very altruistic, kind, and compassionate. a lot of his inventions are made to help people and he was driven to learn about science and engineering because he wants to find a way to reverse splinter’s mutation, to give splinter his life and humanity back. he feels like he needs to know if splinter would just abandon them if he wasn’t a huge rat man, needs to know if there’s any part of splinter that blames them for being constant reminders of his mutation. other than that, he also likes to make inventions because he’s a dreamer and wants to experiment to see how much of the unknown he can push beyond. also, the best liar out of the turtles. also fairly good at compromising and prefers to solve conflicts without violence he can get a little... “obnoxious 15 year old genius” at times. even when he’s helpful it can come off as a bit “poor dear isn’t as smart as me”, and while he usually gets along well with Raph, he doesn’t handle Raph’s temper well at all (calls him “Wrathael/Wrath” and thinks he’s being super clever) and gets really dismissive of Raph’s “outbursts”.

Michelangelo: 13 years old, diamondback terrapin, unsure about the gender and sexuality thing but he doesn’t think he’s exactly cis and definitely not straight. a bouncy ball of sunshine and surprising emotional maturity and emotional intelligence! more so than his emotionally constipated brothers, at least. it’s on his thirteenth birthday (it was leo’s idea for them to pick dates that would let them have their own birthdays instead of sharing the “Mutation Day”, Mutation Day being another special “holiday”) that the Plot would be set in motion, as he’s finally allowed to go to the surface same as his brothers, and on this first night out they meet April and the Kraang and other mutants. he is a goof still, but he’s capable in his own right and gets frustrated when people treat him like a baby or an idiot because he’s not. he doesn’t always treat everything with the seriousness it should but like. he’s thirteen, he’s having fun. even so, he’s very insistent of taking responsibility whenever he does do something wrong and gets mad if someone tries to take the blame for something he’s done. definitely the most compassionate and empathetic out of the turtles, he’s quick to make friends and is very persuasive due to his earnest nature and good heart. much like donnie, he prefers to solve conflict without violence but does enjoy knocking skulls a lot more than donnie. unlike donnie, though, he is almost overly forgiving and not petty at all. he’s well aware that his kindness and forgiveness may be taken advantage of, but he still likes to approach people with an open hand, even if he knows that it may end up getting bitten. oh, and his hobbies include drawing, cooking, singing, and dancing. he likes to express himself!

Raphael: 14 years old, mississippi map turtle, trans, bi. all his fury is compressed within his tiny body, that’s why he’s so angry all the time! no, he’s not angry all the time, but he does have a short fuse. he absolutely hates his anger issues which leads to a lot of self-loathing, and a lot of frustration as his family members either don’t take his anger seriously or don’t have the tools to help him with it. he’s the physically strongest out of the bunch and the least agile. he loves animals and plants a lot and keeps a lot of flowers in his room, hoping that he can one day become a gardener. as his idw self, he wants to watch things grow, but no matter what he does he seems to be best at destroying things. he’s also the one most self-conscious about how the human world perceives them, as he greatly fears rejection, and is the first one to see something positive with people getting mutated - namely, that maybe this way mutants will be more well known and finally accepted by society, so he’ll no longer be trapped in the sewer until the end of his days. so yeah, he’s a huge optimist, in truth. also he’s great at knitting - great at creating and taking care of things in general - and there’s no leo and raph rivalry this time around. he can get mad at leo but not really more than he gets with his other brothers.

Casey: 15 years old, nonbinary (they/them), bi. teen vigilante who gets inspired to fight mutants and the big time criminals (no beating up pickpockets or shoplifters or whatever, just the ones that are really hurting people) and gets roped into the turtle fam after meeting raph and becoming unexpected friends (everyone was expecting it, once Casey realized that mutants are people and not weird monsters. well, not all the time, anyways). they struggle a bit in school not because of a lack of trying but a lack of time, as their parents work full time jobs and someone has to take care of casey’s little sister. their parents are very loving, but they only have so much time, so casey takes it upon themselves to take care of their little sister when their parents are busy and/or burned out from work. that, and they run into the classic dilemma of vigilante work clashing with school work. as always, they have a short fuse, they’re pretty cocky, they like beating ass, and they like hockey a whole lot. hockey, vigilante work, school, and taking care of their little sister... yeah, they have a lot on their plate. oh, and making their little inventions like the taser glove and their puck bombs, something that they bond with donnie over.

Leonardo: 17 years old, Central American wood turtle, trans, gay. he doesn’t fall in love with his sister oh my god. ahem. so, leo is raised from the start to be a Leader and has to mature very quickly, learning to be an adult way earlier than he should’ve, and as such he is very stoic and quiet, and doesn’t seem to have any hobbies, instead just doing chores and training almost constantly, and when he’s not doing that he’s reading or sleeping in his free time. he’s incredibly protective of his younger brothers and his other allies/friends, even if he acts distant and detached most of the time, and removes himself from situations where they’re having fun to not be the stick in the mud. he loves his brothers and admires them greatly, believing they could be So Much if the surface world would just accept them, and as a result he tries to be The Soldier so his brothers won’t have to. alas, they still get caught up in the Kraang and Shredder business, which frustrates him internally. he is the best fighter out of the turtles on account of having more years to train (and convincing Splinter to wait a few more years before they got Real training bc Come On Dude They’re Kids) but it’s the Only thing he’s good at, along with stealth and his sharp eyes. he absolutely sucks at talking when it isn’t about a mission or something he can script easily in his head. in his mind, he’s supposed to be more of a weapon than a person, an idea that isn’t exactly encouraged by Splinter... but not exactly discouraged either. his arc would be very paralleled with Karai’s, as they would both learn to hate their dads... also, absolutely down for murder, and a lawful neutral at best, putting his family and friends’ safety above all other things and following a strict personal code. doesn’t care too much for society’s laws, though.

Karai: 16 years old, demigirl, lesbian. same backstory as in the show, she’s born as Miwa but gets taken by Oroku Saki and raised as his daughter. however, she doesn’t exactly want revenge against Hamato Yoshi because she believes that he killed her mother. she never knew her mother, so it’s much more difficult to hate someone for taking her mother away, even if it does mean that she never got to know her mother. especially since her father rarely spoke of what her mother was like, and much more about how much he hates Yoshi. instead, her need for revenge is more for the possibly idyllic life she was robbed of, since she believes that maybe, just maybe, her father Saki would’ve been a kind father that would’ve let her have a normal childhood and not be molded into a warrior from the start if her mother still lived. and hey, maybe Tang Shen would be a nice mom too. being trained in the art of deception, Karai has a tendency to talk a lot and say very little, or at least very little that is true. she is rarely ever sincere and acts as if she’s taking nothing seriously, which is part of her defense mechanism to never let anyone close or see her true self. she mocks pretty much everyone, ally and enemy alike, but especially likes to make fun of her father’s henchmen and is always the first to point out their failures. while she does value honor to some extent, she is a bit “flimsy” when it comes to loyalty, especially after the truth about her father is revealed. when that is revealed, she at first just feels very numb, learning that not only has she been nothing but a tool and a weapon for the Shredder from the very start, but also that the idyllic fantasy where her mother still lived, perhaps her life wouldn’t be so different after all. she looks at leonardo and sees a reflection of herself, that her “real” father chose to train his sons the same way the Shredder trained her. she feels stupid for feeling like she’s been robbed of even a fantasy, but it still enrages her. of course, this also inspires her to stay with the Foot Clan... just to get the kill on Shredder.

not all dead white men: classics and misogyny in the digital age, donna zuckerberg classicist donna zuckerberg (facebook dude’s sister!) talks about how the alt-right, pick-up artists, incels etc. use the classics to assert & justify their misogyny and racism & portray themselves as the inheritors/saviours of western civilisation etc. the main examples she looks at are stoicism, ovid’s ars amatoria, and ancient narratives about sexual violence, which were all really interesting, but i feel like this could have been expanded a lot. 3.5/5

magic for liars, sarah gailey fun & cool crime story about a murder at a secret magical school (school nurse cut in half in magical library!), answering the burning question of what would happen if petunia dursley became a somewhat dysfunctional PI & had to solve a magical murder at hogwarts, where lily is a teacher. 3/5

the lie tree, frances hardinge frances hardinge writes the kind of middle grade/YA books i wish i could have read between like 10-14, where the world is spooky and the girls are angry spiteful stubborn resourceful sneaky things. i loved a skinful of shadows and i loved the lie tree, where curious snake girl (not literally it’s not that kind of a book) has to investigate her scandal-hounded natural scientist father’s death by spreading lies on the miserable island he died on and literally feeding them to spooky science-defying tree - and faith is very good at lying, and very angry, and very much willing to drag the whole island down with her. read for spooky trees, fake ghosts, and victorian male natural scientists being dumb and sexist & victorian female (& thus secret) natural scientist being smart & awesome. 4.5/5

the dead ladies project: exiles, expats & ex-countries, jessa crispin i have been at turns in love & really annoyed with crispin’s 2012 essay on william james, berlin & her own mental breakdown (x) since uh..... 2012 - it says some really interesting things about berlin’s capital-i Image as the city for self-destructive broke & weird messes, it’s very quotable, while also being some of the most irritating Anglophone Expat in Berlin Bullshit ever concocted (’we have surprisingly affordable rents’ sure didn’t age well.....) and saying almost nothing about the actual city outside of the Expat Bubble (apparently every single person in berlin is here because they feel like a failure.... YALL SOME PEOPLE JUST LIVE HERE). this book, structured around crispin’s soul-searching trip around europe, with each city being discussed in connection with an artist/writer/artist’s wife/etc who lived there, opens with that essay and i’m still torn. the thing is, crispin is smart & well-read & occasionally capable of some interesting insight & good writing..... she is also at times utterly insufferable, ranting at length about how she despises women who perform learned helplessness & prioritise men over everything else only to turn around & do the same fucking thing over & over, incl. going on endlessly about her torturous affair with a married writer, performing her ‘broke but independent woman traveller’ while uh.... staying at a friend’s luxurious farmhouse in switzerland for free... at one point she says she never felt at home in kansas bc based on her looks people don’t believe she’s really from kansas & constantly ask her where she’s REALLY from because.... y’all.... while she’s a good-looking white woman she has an ANGULAR FACE. sure jan. there is so much cool stuff in here, and i wish crispin had kept some most of the personal stuff out of it. 2/5 

mansfield park, jane austen hmmmm... austen is always good but this feels like it’s maybe the one novel of hers that is most negatively affected by values dissonance in that its morality feels like it’s from an alien culture which considers a private theatre performance to be the very height of impropriety (aka regency england apparently); as a result, fanny, a passive, timid, neglected girl of strong convictions often comes across as a moralistic prig (i will make no excuses for edmund, who’s just a patronising sanctimonious prig outright). there’s a quiet sort of triumph in fanny’s integrity & conviction in the face of a literal campaign of harrassment from everyone in her life including the dude she’s in love with to marry a reforming (maybe) rake & i love her for that, but her triumph in returning to mansfield park elevated in the esteem of everyone there (except aunt norris who is delightfully vile) feels empty considering that these are the same people who previously neglected her. also edmund sucks. 3/5 #justice4marycrawford #mary/fannyOTP #alsoarewegonnatalkabouttheslavery #guessnot

fool’s quest (fitz & the fool #2), robin hobb the first one in this trilogy was pretty much slow-paced set-up and character development... this one is much better: there’s a lot going on & the character development feels much more organic & complex - fitz seems to have come down from Peak Dumbass a bit & i really liked how it developed shun (shine!!!) and lant, who felt really one-dimensionally awful last book. also there are so many moments when the farseer family really comes thru for fitz & i cried literally every single time. so yeah. this one’s great, can’t wait for the next one but i also really don’t want it to be over :/ 4/5

what matters in jane austen, john mullan fun little collection of essays looking at specific details and minutae and their meaning/importance in austen’s work - like, how old are the characters (incl. age differences), how do characters address each other, what do games do they play, what about the servants, etc. don’t expect deep litcrit but it’s fun. 2.5/5

dead mountain: the untold true story of the dyatlov pass incident, donnie eichar hello i’m fred & i am obsessed with mountaineering disasters. the dyatlov pass incident refers to a night in 1959 where 9 russian hikers died in the ural mountains after they left their tent half-dressed without shoes for ~mysterious reasons. it’s pretty creepy & theories about it run from ‘avalanche’ to ‘animal [yeti] attack’ to ‘aliens and/or soviet conspiracy theory’. eichar too is super obsessed w/ this mystery and even went to the ural mountains & the dyatlov pass to investigate, which sadly makes for the least interesting (and possibly the longest) part of this book (the other timelines are the dyatlov group hike & the investigations after their deaths). the ‘59 timelines are both interesting tho & provide a good look into how weird the whole thing is. i enjoyed this, but i wish he had cut the endless chapters of him investigating, which is mostly russians being like ‘idk man aliens/radioactivity/secret govt agents?’ and him hiking around in a lot of snow, neither of which really added to his theory or my enjoyment. 2/5

if beale street could talk, james baldwin baldwin’s prose is staggeringly brilliant as always. this is a story about a young black couple (tish, who is the narrator, and fonny) in the 70s who are planning to move together and marry when fonny is wrongly arrested for rape by a racist cop with a grudge; tish and her family try to get him out, especially once tish realises that she’s pregnant. tish is a great narrator, at the same time kind of naive and soft, and full of world-weary cynicism about white institutions and racism, and her narrative voice at times drifts in and out of other characters’ minds, which i found an interesting effect. as many baldwin’s novels this is full of rage & violence & tenderness & tiny sparks of hope. 4/5

lady susan, jane austen epistolary novella about a 35-year-old lady susan, a scheming, ruthless, not-so-grieving widow, who is trying to get her timid daughter frederica married to a buffoon. while staying with her sweetly clueless brother-in-law vernon and trying to win over his much more suspicious wife, she makes the wife’s brother reginald (lol) fall in love with her. a very different protag and story for austen & while the end can’t quite commit to either punishing susan very much or letting her triumph, it is a lot of fun. 3/5

on a sunbeam, tillie walden this is an absolutely beautiful (the colours!) graphic novel about a spaceship crew (the spaceship is a fish) who fly around & restore old space buildings. it’s also a story about a romance between two young girls at a boarding school (in space) and about found families and deep space and there’s not a single man in this, just women and elliot, who’s nonbinary. lovely, dreamy and completely gorgeous. want me a fish spaceship. 4/5

Love your one-shots! I was wondering if you could use prompts 5 and 8 with Loki. So I was thinking maybe the reader and him have a weird thing going on where they both find comfort in each other but Loki’s kinda rude to her bc he doesn’t want to except her in his life, so one day he pushes her a little too far with his insults so she basically stops trying to be friendly and he has to accept his feelings and apologize. I love angst, like LOVE love, but fluffy ending? Loki confides in Thor? Thx!

A/N: I’m sorry this is so late everyone! High school is absolutely ridiculous and I have just not had the energy to write at all or even look at my writing, so many things were written and deleted, over and over again. Soon I’ll be back to doing this more often. I still accept requests though, maybe they start up some inspiration in me. But I missed y’all! I hope you enjoy this.

Loki is actually very comfortable.You wouldn't think he was, considering he's a tower of bone and angry glares, but the only way you were able to coax yourself to sleep was if you crawled in his bed or on his lap, and laid your head on his chest. He would allow you to do so, if only for the fact that he seems to cherish the physical touch, always holding you against him with a strong arm and lightly protesting when you wanted to get up. The others found this incredibly weird however, both because this is Loki, destroyer of New York that you're cuddling with, and also because he always insults you.Always."Good morning you two." You pipe up, coming into the kitchen to see Thor and Loki sitting at the table, Thor sipping some coffee and smiling at you, and Loki grunts."Would you like some coffee too, Loki?" You walk over to the machine, humming lightly as you pop in some pods."Only if it's actually coffee instead of that watered-down trash you usually make." You falter slightly as you hear Loki's words, but you laugh it off, popping n a pod for him too."You still drink it, so that says more about you than me." Once the coffee's done, you put a mug in front of him and sip at your own, grabbing your book from your back pocket. He looks at you over the brim of the mug, and rolls his eyes."Are you seriously reading that infernal book again? What's so good about reading the same book over and over again?""I like it. The story is nice, I'm able to put myself in the main characters shoes." You mutter, having given this explanation every time he saw you reading it."Oh, really? That's a romance. When is the last time you have ever been in a romantic situation?" He chuckles to himself, reading his own book, and you say nothing in response."No, seriously, I don't think I know the last time I have ever seen you with a man. That has happened, I presume. Or maybe not, since you feel the need to read about it in books." Loki puts his book down at this point, focusing on you, and you bite your lip, trying to fight back some tears.While you hadn't had a relationship in a while, you didn't feel like you were lesser because of it. But then why were his words making you feel like you were?"I wonder why that is. Do you think someone can love you?" He asks, and that seems to break something in you, as a few tears roll down your cheeks as you gab your mug and book and walk out of the room. Loki goes back to his own coffee and book, until Thor kicks him in the shin."Now what is the point in doing that?" Loki grumbles, rubbing his knee and reading until Thor grabs it and throws it to the floor."What was the point in questioning Y/N like that? Your insults usually go far, according to my own standards, but that was just ridiculous.""What are you talking about? I always insult her, she always brushes it off. Watch, in a few minutes she'll come here and laugh about it." Loki grabs his book again but THor slaps it out of his hand."Would you stop doing that?""Tears went down her cheeks, brother.""That's her own issue, not mine.""It's your issue if you were the one that brought them out in the first place."Loki stays silent."I don't think I went that far." He says quietly, and Thor huffs."Fine. See how she acts around you from now on. Come to me when you realize how much of a mistake you've made." Thor leaves, taking his coffee with him, leaving Loki alone with his thoughts, a scuffed up book, and cold coffee.----------Loki realized it very quickly, according to Thor's standards, considering Loki often never thinks about anyone other than himself.Over the past couple days, you firstly never offered to make Loki coffee. In fact, even when you asked, you muttered for him to get it himself, and left the room. During meetings, you never asked for the others to listen to what Loki had to say, rendering him silenced in meetings without you forcing the others to quiet down. Even when he came into the library, you would act as if he never existed, only moving to leave if he tried talking to you.However, the hardest thing was the coldness.He was used to you coming up to him during the day to hug him, or crawl on his lap when you were tired, or even just brush your hand against his when you were walking by. At night, you would often crawl into his bed after a nightmare, and you seemed to warm the whole bed just by being there.Now, Loki was overwhelmingly cold for a Frost Giant, and when he realized that, he decided to confront you directly."Y/N, enough of this. You're acting childish." He said, but you simply got up and went past him to leave.Or, at least you tried to. He grabbed your arm with nimble fingers and pulled you back in front of him."Let me go, Loki.""No, you have to listen to me. Maybe one day, I'll be yours." You storm past him and out the doors, leaving Loki to stare at his hand, the warmth leaving his fingers as quickly as you had.----------"Alright, I was an idiot. How do I stop that." Loki storms into the gym where Thor was practicing."Bit too late to stop that." Thor says, his fist connecting with the punching bag, sending a loud THUD through the room."Then how do I make Y/N like me again?" "Well, that is a question you have to ask yourself. Another question, why do you even care if she likes you or not? She's acting like everyone else has done, what makes you care about it now?" THUD."I don't know, she's different."THUD."Well, alright, she's warm."THUD."She's warm, and nice to me."THUD."She's warm, and nice, and she smells like chocolate and rain. She doesn't flinch when I touch her. She listens to me and actually wants to, she looks at my face like she doesn't see a monster, but instead a man. She's able to pervade my thoughts even when she isn't there, she seems to make my heart stop and quicken at the same time when I see her, and she makes me not realize what I'm saying when I look at her. When she doesn't talk to me, or look at me, or even acknowledge I'm there, I'm cold. My thoughts are only of her, and whenever I see her I just want her in my arms. But she won't look at me, and that makes me feel like my heart is ripped out of my chest. It's sickening." Loki has sat on a mound of mats, staring into the floor."Well, that sounds like love brother.""Does it?""Well of course. Doesn't explain why you would insult her with reminders and insinuations that she has never been loved or ever will be, though.""Well, isn't that how you woo human women anyway? Insult them so they will like you?""Where did you ever hear that?""Some people online, I think they're called incels?"Thor stares down at Loki for a while, then sighs deeply."I'm telling Stark to take your computer away. You mutter, going back to your bed and leaving him in the doorway, turning your back to him."Look, I..I don't want you to sleep alone tonight." He says from the door."Good for you. I'm fine with it. Him saying that caused you to sit up and face him, about to yell but you falter as you see his face, which held a look that you had never before seen on Loki Laufeyson.Guilt."Well..what did you mean then." For the whole 'my head up my ass' situation, as you eloquently put it.""That's because it is." You sense him hesitating, then slowly close the door and pad over to you, sliding under the blankets behind you.You turn towards him, pulling yourself to him and place your head on his chest, hugging him tightly and sighing as you close your eyes.Loki quickly wraps his arms around you, letting out a few shaky breathes as he holds you close."I forgive you." You whisper, and he kisses the top of your head.You fall asleep, feeling warm for the first time in days.
