Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Ghost-Maker x Batsis One-Shot
Word Count: 1.2K Warnings: Explicit Language, Mature Themes
Author's Note: Based on this ask right here! Enjoy! -Thorne
**********************************************************************
Being the only non-vigilante in the family besides Alfred meant that she was the one who was normal. Or abnormal in her family’s case—but hey, they still loved their abnormal sister. She was the one who was able to provide rationality from a civilian perspective, another look from a different lens. She was softer too. Much softer than most of her family, quiet, reserved, kind. She didn’t like fighting. Didn’t like arguing and screaming until throats were raw.
Her nights weren’t usually spent outside fighting crime, though she did help out in the cave from time to time, readying equipment, providing food and drinks for before and after patrol routes. Most nights, she was at her apartment or still working. She liked not being a vigilante. Liked being able to go out with her friends at night and not be burdened by last minute bailouts because Two-Face decided to rob a bank or Penguin started a gang war with Joker.
All that being said, she did know her father’s enemies and friends. Being the first child in the manor and with less than two decades between her and him, his enemies and friends were well-known categories to her. Bruce’s oldest friend during his travels, Ghost-Maker, had also been someone she’d known—at least by story. She’d never met him until the night he showed up and challenged her father. Then he became a member of their family, though she could tell the others were wary—she didn’t blame them, but if she didn’t extend the olive branch, she knew they weren’t going to reach out.
They got along well, in her opinion. She liked to be around him and often felt like Ghost-Maker relaxed around her, even to the point that he spoke of his travels. It was no surprise to either of them when they started a romantic relationship. And while he wasn’t particularly monogamous, he seemed satisfied with her for the time being.
***
It was far, few, and in between when they were all in the cave at once, and not dressed in gear about to go out, but instead to hang around and train. She smiled as Cass and Duke wiped the floor with Jason and Dick. Tim and Damian were butting heads about a video game and Steph was leaning over the back of Barbara’s wheelchair, offering insight to some new update the tech genius was creating. Bruce and Ghost-Maker were leaning against the table, quietly murmuring back and forth to each other—in Latin, she had to note, figuring it was because she was in the middle of them, and they didn’t want her to know; she wasn’t upset.
“Jason, Cass, no hits below the belt,” she called out. “You both know better that.”
Cass nodded, readying her position again, but Jason stopped, propping his hands on his hips as he griped, “Okay, but in real life, people hit below the belt, (Y/N).”
She tutted at him. “Jason, you have to be the bigger person.” Raising a fist, she grinned, “Punch ‘em in the face.”
“I can do that!” he chirped.
“I didn’t mean punch Ca—oh, who am I kidding, he won’t be able to hit her,” she huffed, crossing her arms over her chest in preparation for the all-out ass-kicking her second younger brother was going to get; she looked over at Bruce. “Wanna bet on them?”
He chuckled. “Ten on Cass.”
“But I was choosing Cass!” she pouted, then pursed her lips. “Fine. I’ll up it to twenty on Jason.”
“Do you two bet on your family often?” Ghost-Maker asked, and she looked over.
“When it’s a high-stakes match.” (Y/N) nodded at the two siblings circling one another, Duke and Dick had moved off the mats. “Jason and Cass are two of the best fighters alive. Each are capable of going hand to hand with Bruce and lasting for a quite a while.” She looked back at him. “When they really hit their primes, they’ll be better than you and dad.”
He snorted. “There are few people who are better than me and Bruce.”
(Y/N) propped a hand on her hip. “This coming from the man who gets his ass kicked every time you and my dad fight?”
“This coming from the woman who can’t fight at all?” he shot back, and her cheeks warmed, jaw snapping closed at the retort.
“I chose not to fight because I don’t believe in violence.”
“You literally just told him to punch someone in the face.”
“Just because I don’t believe in hitting people doesn’t mean I can’t tell someone. It’s just speech. Words.”
“I think you’re making excuses,” he smirked.
(Y/N) glared. “I think you’re being a jerk.”
“Nice comeback. Did you get it from a laffy taffy wrapper?”
Even Bruce snorted at that one and she couldn’t help but shift her weight between her feet as embarrassment flooded her body. “You are such a nasty person. Rude and nasty and mean.”
Ghost-Maker cocked a brow, at least she thought he did. “Aw, are you upset that I’m faster at firing off than you are?”
She scoffed. “Thanks for reminding me why we stopped screwing. Maybe the next time we do, you’ll fire second?” This time, his jaw went slack, and he gaped at her, but she was quick to add, “And for the record, being rude and condescending doesn’t make you look cool. It just makes you look like an asshole. But you’d know a lot about that, huh?”
“I think I know much more than you do, Primadonna.”
(Y/N)’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t call me that.”
“Oh? So, what do you want me to call you? Miss Snobby?”
She turned to face him. “I’m warning you.”
“I’ve got it! Miss Prude!”
THWAP!
She’d let her fist fly before she even knew what she was doing and not even Ghost-Maker was able to react fast. He reached up, grabbing his nose as blood spilled out his nostrils, staining the rim of the cloth mask he wore. The noise in the cave stilled as everyone turned to face their eldest sister, all gaping, though Jason and Cass wore proud looks. Even Bruce had no idea how to react.
(Y/N), with hot cheeks, thrust a finger in his face and griped, “Newsflash, Ghost-Maker. The Wayne Family motto is ‘talk shit, get hit’.” She sped off towards the stairs, half out of embarrassment, the other half of giddy adrenaline. “I’m going home! Goodnight!”
Ghost-Maker merely watched her back as she left, blinking in stunned silence; Bruce snickered. “My daughter isn’t a vigilante, K. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t train her to defend herself.”
He shot his friend a glare and wiped his nose, feeling the sting, starting to walk off. “Go shove it.”
“And just where are you going?”
“You heard her,” he grinned. “The next time we screwed I had to fire second. Besides, someone’s gotta drive her home.”
Bruce was already starting after him. “That is my daughter you’re talking about! Get back here damnit! I will not let you taint her!”
“She’s already been tainted by me, old friend. Many times.”
“I DON’T NEED TO KNOW THAT, K! JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!”

The Criminal Psychology Majors, Jason Todd x Fem!Reader Part 5/?
Word Count: 2.8k
Author’s Note: Y/N - Your name, A/N - Any name ( your best friend’s name)
Part 5! This is going well, I think, I hope you like it :)
So last night, I finished two parts to this series, and guess what? Turns out when Tumblr glitches you have no rights and suddenly all your work is gone! If you need me, I’ll be crying in my writer’s corner
Warnings: Swearing, Trauma, Family Issues, Left on a cliffhanger lol :) sue me, no beta bitch we die like Jason Todd
(Part 1) (Part 2) (Part 3) (Part 4) (Part 5) (Part 6) (Part 7) (Part 8) (Part 9) (Part 10) (Part 11) (Part 12) (Part 13) (Part 14) (Part 15) (Part 16) (Part 17) (Part 18) (Part 19) (Part 20)
Down girl, you’ve been on two dates, did he even open up to you fully? A/N texted back to Y/N, who took a quick break to the bathroom to compose herself and fix her hair after Jason, the man she was casually seeing, opened up to her about his father and his father’s criminal record as well as his mother and his mother’s passing.
Yes he opened up to me! But we’ve been spending all day flirting and I told him about how my father is an immigrant and how I tell everyone I am legally a bastard, and I just don’t know, is it too soon to say I like him?
Go get him, Girl. Go get him.
In the other room, Jason was hastily texting his brother Dick, who has been in a relationship with Barbara for a while now, and is deeply committed to her. So, he needed advice.
How did I know when to kiss Barbara? Do you want to kiss Y/N? Dick asked back to Jason.
Yes I want to kiss her you idiot, but when do I do it? We’ve only been on two dates.
Why don’t you take her to a fancy restaurant out of the city where you aren’t being watched constantly and she isn’t flipping off the paparazzi, and then do it? Also, Bruce thinks her flipping off the pap twice is very funny, shockingly.
As soon as he received that text, she walked back out of the bathroom, this time, letting her hair down out of the bun it is usually in.
“You look nice with your hair down, Y/N.”
“You think so? I usually have it down when I don’t have classes.”
“I do think so.”
“Well, thank you, Jason,” she purred, sitting back down in her chair, opposite him.
“Bruce saw your shenanigans with the pap, he apparently thinks it’s funny.”
“Your family is checking in on you? Can’t they trust me?” she said, in a completely sarcastic tone.
“Well, I was just bragging about how lovely I find you.”
“Kind of you to do so, Jason,” she placed her hands on his and had to lift herself up slightly to lean into him, not to kiss him or anything, but to be closer to him.
“Your love language is physical attention,” he smirked at her, “I can tell by how you grab me, Y/N.”
“Don’t psych me out now, we’re having fun!” she whisper-yelled at him.”
“I do it when I’m nervous,” he assured.
“What’s there to be nervous of?” she asked.
“The pretty girl leaning into my face making moves on me?”
“You want me to stop?”
“No,” he grinned, “no chance I want you to stop.”
And then his phone rang. He picked it up to hear a very panicked Bruce on the other end,
“Jason, here, now.”
“Okay, okay.”
He hung up and grabbed her hands and leant in, like he was going to kiss her, but only rest his forehead against hers,
“This has been lovely, really, but that was Bruce and he needs me, I’m sorry,” he whispered down to her.
“I understand, we can always go on more dates.”
“I hope we do, see you later, Y/N.”
“See you, Jason.”
And he left. But there was something about the furniture in the house after he left, it smelled like him. Not in a weird way where she was obsessed with it, but she associated the smell with the feeling of riding through the city and the back roads like no one was watching, the feeling of being free, the feeling of being unstoppable.
And that, that was the beauty of the chase, the beauty of what she wanted, to be free, gone from her parents, gone from her twin sister, free.
But, she went to bed that night without even going to her car to pick up her notes. She did have class tomorrow, but it wasn’t criminal psych. It was regular psych. Which she wasn’t stoked for, that’s for damn sure.
-----------------------
Waking up, she opened her phone at around 5am to see a text from Jason,
You know, I always wanted to try some restaurants in Metropolis, I know you don’t like it, but I know the press doesn’t follow me there. What do you say? (Yes I know it’s 3am I’ll tell you all about what happened and why I’m awake so late later lol)
She thought about it, scared that her parents would see her walking around with this guy they didn’t know. Fuck it, she thought, I only live once.
Jason, I would love to. And I hope that story is a good one.
He almost immediately shot back, Mornin’ and yeah, it is. Do you have class today? I can come get you from your’s and pick you up from class if you need it, I swear you won’t have to ride the motorbike in your home city.
I do have class, and you don’t have to but my class is at 3pm again if you’re willing.
Meet up at 12 and talk for a while? Might be fun.
My roommate will be here, though.
Well, you already inadvertedly met my best friend, remember the baker? His name’s Will Harper. I called in a quick favor to impress you and he’s a sucker for a good romance story.
Well, he seemed nice, and yeah, if you want to meet my roommate you can come over, Jason.
You can call me Jay if you want to, Y/N.
I gotta shower now, Jason, but I figured nick names would come out in time.
She put down her phone and went to shower.
-----------------------------------
“Mornin’ A/N.”
“Y/N,”, she greeted happily, “the coffee’s already brewed by the way.”
“God I love you,” she blurted out.
“Yeah yeah, tell me the drama, did you guys have sex?”
“No, but he’s coming over today to meet you slash talk to me before taking me to class and then driving himself and I to Metropolis for dinner.”
“Escaping the cameras to go to the city that has your parents?” A/N questioned, seeming concerned.
“I know, I know, but I only live once and I doubt we’ll see them. If we do, I might just call him my boyfriend to get it over with. Have to talk to him about that though.”
“Honestly, have you told him how insane your parents are?”
“That’s what I’m planning on doing today, A/N.”
“Don’t scare him off, Y/N.”
Y/N scoffed and she went to go get her notes from last night, it was around 11:50am, so she knew that Jason would be here any minute, but she needed to get those notes into her room, she was right about Jason when he pulled down the street in a Porsche. Pulling into her driveway, Y/N waved at Jason while finishing to pull out her books from her beat up car. Quite the difference from the Porsche and her car, but she only noticed it for a few seconds before both doors slammed, in sync.
“Well, that was timed perfectly,” she said to Jason when he met up with her at her car.
“Wow, we’re magicians,” he joked, “Do you need help?” he asked.
“No, no, I can handle it myself, thank you.”
“Well, it doesn’t kill me to ask, you’re going to need help with that door though,” he mused.
“Oh no, you underestimate me, I can open doors with my hips, and I think I didn’t shut the door the whole way so I could do this easier,” she laughed and began to lead him up the driveway, like she had done last night before he ran off with Bruce.
“Thinking ahead?”
“Something I clearly didn’t do when saying we could go to Metropolis, I’ll admit.”
“What do you mean?”
“We have time to talk about it later, Jay, are you however, ready to meet my roommate?”
“No, but you only live once, Y/N.”
“You won’t die, I promise,” she said as she nudged the door open with her hip and greeted A/N, “Hey girl! This is Jason, entertain him while I file notes, maybe, I swear I’ll speed run it.”
“Entertain him? Are you serious? He’s your guest!” she joked.
“Hey thanks man really appreciate it,” Y/N joked before hastily walking towards her bedroom, this was obviously a song and dance they had done with A/N’s lover, so Y/N shot it back at A/N.
“Jason.”
“A/N, right?”
“Yes, sir, how are you today?”
“I’m good, was that a fight?” he questioned.
“No, don’t worry, it’s just the way I acted when I first brought my partner, person, thing, over. She’s just being spiteful. Trust me, if it was a fight, there’d be a lot more of a screaming match.”
“Well, that’s reassuring, I think.”
“So, Jason, do you like her?” she asked.
“We’ve been on back-to-back dates since Sunday, A/N,” he paused, “I really do.”
“Well, it is not like I am going to sit here and be like ‘Oh you can’t date her!’ and feign being upset about this, I mean it’s been 2 dates and you’re going on a third, if that’s not leading towards seriousness, I don’t know what is,” she assured him. He seemed to like this.
“How much has she told you? My secrets or anything?”
“God no, you’ll tell me those with time when we’re friends.”
“Well, I hope you’re a good friend to Y/N and myself, in the future, then.”
“The future is just around the corner. Don’t let Y/N escape you. She’s a catch,” she finished as Y/N reentered the room,
“Did you two have fun?” Y/N asked.
“I think we did,” Jason said.
“We did,” A/N assured, “you two can go to her room now, I’ll be fine.”
“I wasn’t worried you weren’t going to be, you always are.” Y/N said to A/N before grabbing Jason’s hand and taking him to her room. He hadn’t been in her room yet.
It was kind of a mess, I mean it wasn’t like they had a maid and they’re both broke college/university students. Notes were strewn across her desk, but that was expected with such a high-study class, the one they met in.
“You clearly like the colour red,” Jason said, pointing to the obvious red feature wall, grinning.
“Well, I told my sister to design my room last time she was over and she picked it based off of the criteria I gave her, she’s going to be an interior designer, and red was one of the colours I gave her,” Y/N said with a sigh, “That’s kind of the thing we need to talk about, my family,” she sighed again, “They are, special, to say the least.”
“Well, so is mine.”
“Yeah but,” she sat on her bed and he joined her, “My family is quite, how do you say it, Christian? They’re very hard to impress and if they see me running around the city with you they might expect you to be my boyfriend, not the guy I’ve known for 3 days and went on back-to-back dates with,” she rambled, “ Not that they wont like you! They’re just traditional, and I’m not and it drives a slight wedge between us,” she paused to look at him, “This is just a really long-winded warning about only a chance to meet them,” she finished.
“Well, that doesn’t scare me. You would understand why if you knew the Waynes, not that they’re traditional, they too, are just hard to impress,” he assured.
“Probably shouldn’t have flipped off the paparazzi then, honestly.”
“No, Bruce found that funny. And about last night, my brother, Damien, he’s the youngest Wayne and one of the only not-adopted ones, being 3 not adopted ones,” he paused, “Anyway, he broke his leg playing office chair racing in the Manor, and I needed to go to Bruce to get yelled at for bringing up the idea,” he laughed, “Bruce then told me after that if he was invited I wouldn’t have been yelled at,” he paused, “That was fun.”
“So, very posh and pristine family, and one of you broke your leg roughhousing in a very expensive Manor?”
“Only in Wayne Manor would that be a sentence.”
“Seems like you have your hands tied with your family,” she joked.
“I wouldn’t if the idiots stopped hurting themselves playing games when I’m on dates,” he retorted and laughed with Y/N.
It seemed crazy that these two would meet, since so many factors played into it, but she swore God saw the potential for this to happen and said, This, this deserves a shot to shine. And she was grateful. She didn’t exactly believe in God, but if God sent her this boy, she might change her mind on going to church with her parents when they invite her.
And that’s the beauty in the mystery, the beauty in the ‘Positive’ they claimed after not knowing what to do next but still powering through to go on dates, and they had gone on enough dates and spent at least 1 third of the last 3 days with each other. That was impressive. That was a good sign and they both knew it.
The next step was packing a few bags and going on 24 hour dates in the cities, but they weren’t ready for that yet. They both thought a first kiss would be better before that. Luckily, Jason wanted to kiss her today, and she wanted to kiss him today.
Before they knew it, they were in the Porsche driving through the streets she describes all-too well, blasting songs and screaming lyrics with Jason, a song stuck out and that was the Annapantsu’s Smooth Criminal Rendition with Caleb Hyles. Since the rendition had a multitude of riffs that Y/N adored, she would scream it and Jason would continue the male parts. It was peaceful yet the most high-pressure intense situation she had felt in a while.
--------------------------------
Getting out of class, she somehow avoided the paparazzi she had grown somewhat accustomed to over the days she had known Jason, she got back into the Porsche before they noticed she was even there, but then they noticed, and Jason fucking floored it to the streets and out of there.
He dropped her off at her place to get ready for an expensive dinner with him in Metropolis. She thought long and heard about what to wear to her date, but in the end, she decided on a nice pink dress her mother had bought for her back in Metropolis. She had told her daughter, Only wear this on a date with a man you think is endgame, now, she didn’t know if Jason was endgame, but she did want to put all the energy she could into the universe to make him worthwhile.
(This is the first time I’m going to include pictures! I think I’m getting the hand of Tumblr now hehe :) )
Tumblr media
(If the skin tone doesn’t match your own, because you’re darker or paler, just imagine it’s yours :) you’re all beautiful in your own right and I’ll use pictures with varying skin tones as I progress the story)
She gave a little twirl in her mirror before taking a quick picture to send to one of her other class friends, who was wondering how things were going with Jason at the time. Her name was Artemis Crock, she knew that Art and Jason were friends, but she also liked Artemis Crock a lot, thinking that they were likely going to be good friends.
You’re going to make him swear up and down to Will that he is ‘Only seeing you casually’ while Will says he’s in love with you, you’re killing it. She shot to Y/N.
Y/N smiled and left her bedroom to go meet up with A/N, who wanted to make sure the dress she was wearing was cute, and it was,
“Holy shit! I said look cute, not make him your bitch, Y/N!”
“Potato, Potahto,” she laughed, “You really think I look worthy of a Wayne?”
“You always do, but you didn’t have to go THIS  hard to prove a point. Only one tabloid said you weren’t enough for him,” she paused and Y/N thought about that tabloid, it upset her, sure. But she was completely aware that spite was going to fuel many of her next moves in the press, “Just the one tabloid.”
“And the one tabloid is enough to make me spiteful. Fuck them tabloids, girl, they can suck it,” she said.
“I don’t think Jason would appreciate if the tabloids blew you,” she joked.
“You don't know that, A/N,” she retorted.
“Do you know that?” A/N said as the doorbell rang, “I’m assuming that’s for you, have fun!” A/N said and waved as Y/N waved back and walked to answer the door. Yep, it was Jason.
“Woah,” he said, mouth agape, when she answered the door.
“Close your mouth, Romeo. You’ll attract flies,” she joked.

How old is the Batfamily (in New Earth)?
These are my personal calculations. Comics are bad at continuity, I’m sure we’re all aware.
I use Tim as my north star in my calculations because we have a couple sure fire ages for him, unlike people like Dick or Bruce whose continuity is less concrete. Tim was 3 when the Graysons died, 13 after Jason died, and he just turned 16 shortly before Jason turned 18.
Tim’s birthday is July 19th, and Jason’s is August 16th. Since Tim turns 16 the same year Jason would turn 18, Jason is exactly 1 year, 11 months, and 3 days older than Tim - almost 2 years. Jason’s death certificate says he died April 27, at 15 years old; this means Jason was turning 16 that year, and it also means when Tim arrives at 13, it’s not yet summer, so Tim is turning 14 soon. Batman #436 confirms Jason was with Bruce for 2 years, making him 13-going-on-14 when Bruce adopted him, and Tim the same age when he comes in behind him.
Dick has multiple dates presented for his birthday, so exact age is a no go. In 1940, Dick was 8 years old when he became Robin. That is impossible now, if Tim attended Haly’s Circus when he was 3, and Jason was between them as Robin. In Final Crisis, Dick’s depicted as 12 when his parents die. This would make him about 9 years older than Tim, and 7 years older than Jason. That would mean when Jason was adopted, Dick would be 20, and he’d be 22 when Jason died, and 26 when he became Batman.
Tim is 9yo when he realizes Robin is Dick Grayson. That makes Dick about 18yo. Two years later, Jason is Robin for another two years, take 6 months for his training. These ages fit together nicely.
Bruce was 25 when he finished his Batman training. Batman: Year One is probably a full year, and The Long Halloween is DEFIANTELY a year, so let’s say Bruce adopts Dick (Dark Victory) two years after returning to Gotham - 27yo. This makes Bruce 15 years older than Dick. This works for their fuzzy awkward family dynamic, where Bruce is something between a big brother and a dad, getting more parental as Bruce gets older, and grating on Dick’s growing independence as he’s being given MORE restrictions as he ages, not less. It makes Bruce 22 years older than Jason (35yo when he adopts him), a more reasonable age gap for a parent and child, which plays into Bruce’s more immediately parental relationship with Jason (and thus Dick’s jealousy over it). It then makes Bruce 24 years older than Tim (37 after Jason’s death and upon meeting Tim). Bruce’s birthday is Feb. 19th, early in the year, so its not as awkward to juggle months into the equation. This makes Bruce 41 at the end of New Earth; I was honestly surprised, it’s a pretty reasonable age for a fit man to be Batman-ing, if there is ANY age considered reasonable to be Batman-ing.
Cassandra Cain is already 18 when Jason turns 18, and her birthday is January 26, so Cass is exactly 6 months and 21 days older than Jason.
Early on, Stephanie says she’s “older” than Tim, though I don’t know how she’d know that at the time. Later, Stephanie’s attending freshman year of college when she first becomes Batgirl, so I think it’s safe to say she’s about 1 year older than Tim, making her 15 when they meet when Tim is 14, and 18 when Tim is 17 at the end of the New Earth run.
Damian... I feel like someone told me Damian was slightly hyper-aged as a toddler, but I can’t find that information r/n, and also I don’t care, so I’m moving forward as if Damian was born naturally, and not artificially altered at all. I’m convinced the more we see Damian drawn to look more like Thalia, the more we’re just casually being asked to kindly forget about the racist “genetically modified to be perfect, i.e. look more like Bruce” Thing. So I’m gonna.
Since I think the fathers day comic between Tim and Bruce occurs before we meet Damian, and father’s day is in June, and his birthday’s in July, I’m going to assume Tim is 17 when he meets Damian for the first time, who is described as 10. This means Damian is 7 years younger than Tim, 9 years younger than Jason, 16 years younger than Dick, and 31 years younger than Bruce. This is particularly interesting, because Bruce and Dick’s age gap is about the same as Dick and Damian’s age gap, which draws more of a parallel between Bruce and Dick’s awkward pseudo-big-brother/actual-adopted-dad relationship and Dick and Damian’s pseudo-dad/actual-big-brother relationship.
And then there’s Barbara. What to do with Barbara. Barbara's got de-aged over the years to make her a more palatable ship for Dick (no hatin’, just true). It’s cute for a teenage boy to have a widdle crush on his adult friend/big sister figure who’s old enough to have a doctorate, and then have him fall in love with an alien girl closer to his own age, but when they decided they wanted this ship to be viable, they had to close that 8-10 year age gap, or Babs was gonna look like a creep. Detective Comics 871 aged her all the way down to Dick’s exact age, having them go to prom together, but you can make Barbara anywhere between 26 and 36+ by the end of New Earth and I’m not sure anyone can say you’re wrong. I have Much Fear they’re going to try to de-age her again, though, with this potential Jason romance hanging in the air.
And Alfred... look, man, I don’t know, he was 18 when he joined the British military, and that’s the extent of my understanding of how old Alfred is.
And, you know, Duke didn’t exist in New Earth, and the Prime ages are all fucked to hell. Usually, I make Duke about a year or two younger than Tim, just because it kinda sounds right.
tl;dr: By the end of New Earth, the Batfam is probably: Alfred (???), Bruce (41), Babs (26-36+), Dick (26), Cass (19), Jason (19), Steph (18), Tim (17), and Damian (10).

Characters: Jason Todd, Ric Grayson, bits of Tim, Cass and Damian Summary: Ric was an only child. A man named Jay decided to remind him that, in another life, he wasn’t. A/N: Reminder Ric Grayson is one of the worst things to ever exist and the fact that they completely ignored what would happen with those really close relationships he had with his siblings is a bunch of bullshit. So here’s Jason word-vomiting for me. I wrote this in one go in the middle of the night. Sorry it’s garbage. The batkids were driving back to Gotham from some top secret mission and shit probably.
~~
Ric frowned as he stepped out of the bar. There was a car blocking his cab in the alleyway.
And that in itself wasn’t a problem, not really. Had happened before. What made it worse was that there was a man in a leather jacket standing nearby, leaning on a light pole, puffing away at a cigarette. Ric didn’t know why, but he had an intense feeling the man was the car’s owner, and that this little blockade was on purpose.
Ric huffed, shoving his hands in his pocket as he began to stomp closer. He didn’t really want to fight one of the fine folks of Bludhaven today, but would if he had to. He had fares to find and bills to pay, and this guy looked like one of those smarmy assholes who would drag out a stupid argument just out of spite.
As he got closer, the man glanced over, a sharp grin flashing onto his face in recognition. He popped the cigarette into his mouth and pushed off the streetlamp, fixing in his jacket. While he did so, Ric caught a glimpse of scars, violent looking ones, and even a few wounds still in the process of healing.
Ric blinked, and his stomach dropped in frustration.
One of them.
“Bruce Wayne sent another one of you, huh?” He snapped before thinking too much about it. The man snorted a laugh, running his fingers through his hair. Ric took note of the white streak near his bangs.
“Nah. If he knew I was here, he’d kill me actually.” A drag of the cigarette. “Again.”
Ric stopped in front of him, waiting.
“Ah, yeah. Sorry. Amnesia.” The man exhaled smoke right into Ric’s face. “You wouldn’t get the joke.”
“Doesn’t sound like it’d be funny even if I did.” Ric countered easily. “Mind telling me why you blocked my cab?”
The man shrugged. “Wanted to talk.”
Ric groaned, glancing to the skies. “Look, I’ll tell you the same thing I told that Barbara woman. I’m sorry I don’t remember whatever relationships we had before, but I don’t want to come back to Goth-”
“I don’t give a shit about all that. Don’t come back, I don’t care. It’s your life.” The man cut off. “That’s not what I wanted to talk about.”
“…Oh.” Ric pursed his lips, looking around. “Then what do you want?”
“I want to talk about…” The man seemed to think over his words. “What you else left behind.” Suddenly he gestured his arm towards his own car, directing Ric to look for himself. “I want to talk about them.”
Ric glanced over and realized that the man’s car wasn’t empty. There were three people inside, three kids by the look of it. Two in the back and one in the front.
The teenagers in the back could have been twins from where he was standing. Both with black hair and pale skin. Petite. The girl’s hair was longer, almost to her shoulders, but the boy could have used a haircut himself too. The girl smiled and pointed to something on the phone the boy was holding between them. The boy laughed too.
In the front passenger seat was a younger boy. He was also consumed by the phone in his hands, headphones shoved into his ears and sweatshirt hood over his head. His knees were curled up to his chest, and he looked like he was hugging himself.
He looked…sad.
Not that the two in the back looked any better. They looked tired. More tired than a couple of teenagers should. Concerningly tired.
Ric looked back to the man. “Who are they?” And almost an after thought: “Who are you?”
“…You used to call me Jay sometimes. So let’s go with that.” Jay said absently. “And they…are your siblings.”
Ric was already shaking his head as he looked back. The three in the car didn’t seem to notice them. “I don’t have any brothers and sisters. I’m an only child.”
“By blood, yeah. By found family…you’re the oldest of five. Legally too, technically.”
Ric looked back. “Five? There’s only three kids in that car.”
Jay pointed to himself. “You were also kiddo’s legal guardian for a few years, too. But that’s less important in the long run I guess. Kind of.”
Ric’s stomach was churning now. “Okay, so Bruce Wayne had a bunch of kids besides me. So what?”
“So…that’s what I wanted to talk to you about.” Jay took another sharp inhale of his cigarette, seemingly steeling himself. Thinking. “Because Bruce is one thing. The secret cave and what we did down there is one thing. Don’t want to come back to that? Fine. Be as big an asshole as you want about it. I don’t care. No one does. Nightwing was a beloved hero around the world, but if it came down to the world having Nightwing or having Dick…Richard Grayson safe, not a single person would pick the former. Besides, heroes retire. Heroes quit. Heroes become bad guys. No big thing. It was wrong of Bruce and Barbara and whoever else to try to force you back into a role you didn’t remember.”
Ric waited.
“That’s one thing.” Jay repeated, and suddenly his voice was angry behind the cigarette. “But abandoning those kids is another.”
A moment to let that sink in.
“And sure, at first I thought I’d come here and say abandoning the people who love you was really shitty, but you know? A lot of people fucking love you and I don’t care about a single one of them.”
He pointed towards the car.
“But them? They adored you. Still do frankly. Especially kiddo.” Jay emphasized his point by jabbing his finger forward again. “You saved his life. You saved all their lives in one way or another. And even more than that – you loved them when it kinda seemed like no one else would. You gave a shit when not even Bruce did.”
Jay dropped his cigarette back between his fingers. Exhaled, and it was shaky. Upset.
“And I get it, I do. Leaving Batman? Easy. Leaving Bruce? Honestly, even easier. It’s not a life any of us should have or want and…you got out. Yeah, it was through getting shot in the head and forgetting everything, but. You got out.” Jay waved it off. “But what I have a problem with is that you left them and you don’t even care.”
“Because I don’t know them.” Ric countered, feeling his own emotions bubbling up. “How can I care about someone I don’t know?”
“Literally, you did all the fucking time!” Jay hissed. It seemed like he wanted to shout, but instantly turned it to a whisper. He glanced nervously at the car, and Ric realized – the kids didn’t notice them because Jason didn’t want them to. He didn’t want them to see Ric, or hear this conversation. “It was what made you…you. What made you special. Because it didn’t matter who it was or what they’d done. Even if you didn’t know someone’s name, you cared.”
Ric just stared. “I’m not that person anymore.”
“And I’m suspicious about that, because I’m pretty sure amnesia doesn’t change who you are as a core person, and Dick Grayson was no fake when it came to his heart, but that’s not what’s important here.” Jason snapped. The cigarette was close to burning his hand and he dropped his, squishing it under his heel. Immediately he pulled another pack from his pocket, along with a lighter. He shoved the stick into his mouth and lit it. “Because, okay, I can even forgive you not caring about some of the people around you when you woke up. Bruce, Barbara, even Alfred, maybe. Me.”
He paused, to inhale. Then exhaled the smoke, but into the sky this time.
“But they’re just kids.” Jay whispered, looking at Dick with some of the most pained eyes he’d ever seen. “What happened wasn’t their fault, wasn’t their choice. Trust me, if it was, that asshole in the front seat would have taken that bullet for you in a heartbeat, a goddamn thirteen year old.”
Ric let his hands in his pocket roll into fists.
“But this wasn’t their fault, and they’re the ones suffering the most here. Because, yeah, you’re not Dick Grayson, and you’ve made that clear. You’ve made it very clear you want no association with how the old you was, or anything he did. But they’re a bunch of fucking kids who have to convince themselves that their older brother is dead and gone and never coming back, but watch you be alive and well down here in fucking Bludhaven anyway.”
Ric found his gaze slowly drifting back to the car. The girl in the backseat had taken the phone now, the boy next to her leaning on her shoulder with his eyes closed. The little boy in the front hadn’t moved.
“And I take back what I said earlier. You being his legal guardian is important. Because you were like his dad, then. His motherfucking dad. You remember losing your dad. Imagine how it is for him to be forgotten and abandoned by his, while he’s still around out there enjoying his life?” Jay spit. “And Tim – you were there when his dad was murdered. When his best friend was. His girlfriend. One of the only ones there for him. You were there for Cass when she didn’t even know how to fucking speak. When she had no one but some parents who wanted to kill her. It was years ago, but how do you think they both feel now? How do you think they’re coping?”
“So what, are you saying this whole mess is my fault?” Ric snapped back. “It’s my fault I got shot and lost my whole life?”
“No. It’s not your fault what happened to you. But it is your fault how you reacted to it.” Jay answered coldly. “Avoid your old job. Avoid the people harassing you and trying to force you to remember something you can’t. But those three did nothing to you. They’re children. And you abandoned them without even giving them a damn chance. Without even attempting to start over with them or let them try.”
“Why are you telling me this?” Ric demanded. “What do you want me to do about it?”
“Nothing. I don’t want you to do a damn thing.” Jay shrugged. “I just wanted you to know.”
“Why?”
“So you know what you’re missing out on, being a stubborn piece of garbage who refuses to even acknowledge the people of his past, let alone interact with them.” Jay took a long inhale, and Ric watched the cigarette slowly turn to ash. “They’re good kids, Ric. Good kids you helped make. And now you’re mocking them with your mere existence and man. It just sucks.”
“And what am I supposed to do about it?”
“Like I said – nothing. Just wanted you to know. Barbara came down here and said her peace, so I figured I should be allowed to say mine.” He dropped the remainder of his cigarette and snuffed it out. “You mind going to your car first? I’m sure you’ve picked up on it right now, but I don’t want the babies to see you if I can help it. You’re still a bit of a raw wound for them, if you didn’t catch that.”
Ric stared at him for a moment. “…Tell the kids I’m sorry, if the conversation ever comes up.”
Jay shrugged. “I would if I thought you meant it, Ric. After all, Dick made it a point to not lie to them, if he could help it.”
Ric grit his teeth and turned towards his car without another word, making sure to keep his face in the shadows as he passed the windows of Jay’s car. None of the occupants even glanced up.
“Good luck with those memories and shit.” Jay called after him. Ric didn’t respond, and slammed his door a little harder than he meant to after he dropped into the car. He started his engine and rolled down his window, listening.
Jay was whistling as he walked back to the car, and jerked open his own driver side door.
“What took so long?” A young voice whined. Ric glanced into his rearview mirror to see it was the boy in the front seat. He hadn’t looked up from his phone. “I didn’t think destroying your lungs with cigarettes was an extended affair.”
“Was watching some old men down the street fight over a chess match.” Jay seemed to say nonchalantly. “Also had more than one cig. Excuse me if I don’t want to waste my supply, and enjoy the moment.”
The boy’s answer was cut off as Jay got into the car and shut the door. Ric listened as his engine started, and watched as they pulled away, freeing him from his temporary prison.
He threw his cab in reverse, dropping out of the alley and onto the road. He shifted to drive, and took off, ironically, the same way Jay and his crew went. In fact, they were at a light just down the block, waiting for it to turn green.
And Ric found himself frozen, blocking both lanes with his car, because the girl – Cass, he’d called her – was staring out her back window, directly at him.
When she’d caught his eye, she simply smiled, though it was clearly sad, and gave him a single wave.
Then the light turned, and Dick Grayson’s siblings disappeared around the corner.

J is for Judgement
This is a part 2! Comes after a part 1, and a part 1.5!!
You smile at Dick when he darkens the pet stores doorway.
“Hey baby, hey baby,” he greets and you snort, coming around the counter to give him a hug. You’ve never been much of a hugger, but hell, he’s just the cuddliest.
Also he smells like a tasty man.
Pulling apart, he leans against your counter, an attempt at being casual and you hide a smirk.
“So, bestie,” he begins and you waver in place. Luckily the space is empty apart from the two of you. “I’ve got a thing tonight, if you’re interested in coming.”
“Going out on the town with my bestie?” You begin, about to rain him in stupid compliments.
“Ah- not, the town…” He cuts in and you hum, wrinkling your brow. “Dami is throwing the dog a birthday party,” his tone drags the words as if it’s a chore, even though it sounds like tonight might be the best of your life, “and it’s just a small gathering, family and close friends. I was wondering…”
He gives you a sneaky look.
“Yeeees?” you sing-song back and he licks his lips, trying to hide smile.
“If you were interested…” His mouth drags the words out and you feel like you’re vibrating from the inside out.
“Innnnn?”
“Coming with me to the party tonight?”
“Yeah!” You shout, throwing your fists in the air and bouncing around in a circle before pulling up in front of him, dropping your excitement and blanking your face. “Yeah, sounds cool, no biggie, if you want, no prob, Bob.”
Dick beams at you, still leant against the counter. “They’re going to love you.”
“You bet your ass they will, Richie!” Your bravado has his expression softening with affection, even as your stomach flips with a sudden and crushing panic. Hiding this, you catch his hand in one of yours and swing them. “I am excited to meet Barbaraaaa.”
He scoffs, rolling his eyes and grinning, before pushing off the counter and dragging you about the store.
“Help me get the damn dog a present, it can be from both of us, obviously,” he says, before muttering. “Dogs birthday party, Jason didn’t get a birthday party last year but the dog does?”
You don’t tell Dick about the guy today. You know he notes the scrawled number on your hand and he smiles a little, but when you don’t mention it, he doesn’t ask.
As you’re walking home, Dick having promised to pick you up later, you stare at your phone.
Debating.
Screw it.
Me: Hi, this is Y/N from the pet store, I didn’t get your name today
You wait ten seconds before shoving your phone into your pocket out of anxiety and instead focussing on tonights hellscape.
You have to make these people love you. You have to!
Ignoring the silence and stillness of your pocketed phone, you instead focus on reviewing what you know about Dicks family.
Surprisingly- little.
Honestly? You barely know anything about them.
Except:
               He has two dads, Alfred and Bruce
               He has four brothers, Jay, Tim, Duke and Damian
               He has two sisters, Steph and Cass.
               He has one not sister, Barbara, also his unrequited love
               He doesn’t have favourites between any of them.
Luckily, as you start up your stoop and your chest starts to heave, your phone vibrates in your pocket.
Unknown Number: I’m Jason
You wait. For something, anything.
After two minutes, you’ve entered your apartment and, phone still in hand, made your way to your closet.
After ten, you’ve set the phone back on your bed and are deciding between a red bodysuit and a yellow crop top.
After twenty, you’re in the shower and anxiously shaving your legs even though you’ve decided to wear long pants.
At the thirty minute mark, out of the shower with your hair wrapped but before you apply moisturiser, you pick up the phone and give in.
Me: What do you do, Jason?
Putting it back down, without much expectation, you pick up the moisturiser once more but pause when the device beeps again.
Jason: I’m a freelancer, mixed martial artist.
Jason: Do you like lunch? Or breakfast food.
You try to grin too wide at the messages. He seems a little… unsure, maybe. You’re into it.
Me: I love lunch, and breakfast- for lunch or breakfast. What do you think about dinner?
You nab your red bodysuit and slip yourself into it, then fight on your favourite pair of pink corduroy pants. Gazing at yourself in the mirror, you frown, look at your closet, frown harder.
No.
“You’re hot.” You growl to your mirror self. “I am hot. And I am loveable and tonight is going to be great and tomorrow you can go out with Jason and kiss that gorgeous face.”
His visage pops up before you, scarred and unusual.
You hope his scars are more innocent than- well, than other scars in this city.
Maybe he got them in the womb, or terrible acne that forms perfect lines.
Oh boy.
Jason: I usually work nights, late, and I’d hate to cut our night short because I need to get to work
Your lips purse.
Oh shit!
Dickard: I’m coming up, you better look hot
Shoving away your awful, awful, just awful realization, you look back up at yourself in the mirror and grimace. Throwing on a light coat of lipstick and a layer of mascara, finishing off the makeup you’d been wandering through while texting with-
No.
Leaping up, you grab your jacket- that guys jacket-
Oh hell, you’re so dumb.
Pushing out every thought to do with night time activities and vigilantes and, worse, villain criminals, you throw on the jacket, put your phone and wallet in the pockets, slip on some shoes and snatch your keys.
“Shit,” you murmur, spinning around and nabbing your perfume from the table and spritzing yourself and the jacket. “Shit, shit, shit.”
Bounding for the door, you wrench it open just as Dick raises his hand to knock. You stare at each other, for a moment, while you pant.
“Running late?”
Shoving Dick backwards into the hall, you lock up behind yourself and turn back to him with a cheesy smile. “Show me your Daddy, Dicky.”
His expression goes blank and you hiss out a breath.
“No. No! Don’t-”
“I think maybe-”
“Oh shut up,” you growl and he laughs, throwing an arm over your shoulders and leading you out of the building. “Y’know, I’ve don’t know that much about your family. Like I know the cast, obviously but you’ve literally never told me where you live, and you’ve never-”
Dick grimaces, and you can tell he’s unsure and maybe embarrassed.
“It’s fine, it’s fine, I’ll figure it out, I doubt they know much about me, anyway!” You laugh, your throat tight and panicked and he offers a weak smile and a quick squeeze.
  “Oh, f*ck me, Dick.” You stare at the gates.
The Gates.
Not to heaven, or arkham, or anywhere so pedestrian, oh no.
“F*cking Wayne Manor, Grayson? As in Dick Grayson, adopted son of Bruce Wayne?”
Dick shrinks in his seat, driving up the lane, since the gates had opened automatically, for him.
“I’m going to kick your god damn ass, Grayson, I’m going to end you, you’re the worst, literally the worst,” the car stops, “you’re so f*cking dead, you dumb bitch, I can’t believe you’ve done this,” your door opens, “and I’m just so excited to meet your family, Dick! Hahaha!”
You take the hand proffered through the car door and rise to come face to face with- shit- Tim Drake.
Recognisable, famous Tim Drake.
“Hi! Dicks brother Tim! He’s so proud of you,” you greet and Tims lips twitch upwards at the sides, though his slightly warm, slightly protocol expression changes little beyond that.
“Welcome, Y/N, Dick’s mentioned you a lot and we’re all so excited to finally meet you. In the flesh.”
You try not to frown at his weird phrasing, only for it to get worse.
“Oh. Did Jason leave his jacket in your car again, Dick?” Tim asks, his gaze moving from the jacket on your shoulders to Dick, who is sidling up beside you.
Jacket. Jay. Jason. Phone number. Freelancer. Night time work.
Shit, shit, shit, please be a coincidence, please be a coincidence. F*cking Dick, f*cking shit, damn, heck.
You smile absently at the pair.
“Oh, no, this one is apparently very similar to Jasons but Y/N has assured me she found it in her building,” Dick assures him, and you look between the two, gauging their reactions.
Tim grimaces, and Dick frowns at him.
A vigilante gave you this jacket. You just got the phone number of a possible vigilante named Jason. Dicks brother Jay is named Jason and he’s got a jacket like this.
Please.
Hell.
You spot others emerging behind Tim, from the gigantic Wayne Manor doors.
Dick’s eyes dart to them and he slings a comforting arm over your shoulders.
“Let’s get in and out of the cold, hey Tim? C’mon, lead the way.” His voice is jovial but he holds you back a second as Tim sends him a look then starts toward the doors. His face tilts toward yours, a soft whisper coming through your hair to your ear. “I’m so sorry, I should have said something sooner, it’s a- it’s hard to explain, you know I’m adopted, we’re all pretty adopted around here and it’s such a difficult situation and its not like I have the greatest relationship with Bruce and- I’m sorry, Y/N, I should have said something sooner.”
The apology brushes over you and you tilt slightly against him, your forehead setting against his shoulder and he presses a kiss onto the top of your head.
“Thanks, kiddo.”
“We’re two years apart, you galumphing oaf.” You growl back, just as you step through the doors and come face to face with a group of people staring at the pair of you.
Your eyes lock on a beautiful red haired woman, her face stark for a long moment as she takes in the pair of you before everything on her face is hidden with a blink of an eye.
Oh crap.
You step out of Dicks grasp, pointedly, and offer a weak smile to the red haired girl. Barbara.
Shit, hell.
Everyone stares at the movement and it takes you a second before you see him.
“Is that Jasons jacket?” A kid asks loudly, Damian, hopefully, but your eyes don’t stray from the man at the back.
Jason from the pet shop.
“Relax everyone,” Dick laughs, his eyes moving from you to Jason and the pair of you stare at the obvious expression on his face. Dicks voice trails off. “It’s not Jasons…”
“Jesus and the Joker,” you gripe, your eyes darting from Barbara to Jason to Dick.
“So this is your jacket?” Dick asks, gesturing to the beat up brown coat on your shoulders. “How’d she get it? How’d you get it?”
Jasons head twitches in a shake, eyes locked on yours and you squint at him.
“No! Jason. Don’t make her lie. How’d this happen? Why’s she still got it?” He glances at the staring group and sighs. “She got it like a week ago.”
“Three days.”
You grit your teeth, glaring at Jason.
“Shall we, everyone, head into the living room? Alfred, dinner?”
Your eyes dart to Bruce Wayne, his voice and face clearly recognisable from several television segments, and you watch as the group silently and with thick tension move single file through a door. Beside Bruce, another man, Alfred, you guess, steps up close to him and murmurs something before Bruce nods.
Beside you, Dick tangles your fingers.
“Hey, best friend?”
Your eyes slide up to his and he offers you a pathetic smile.
“Dick,” you say softly, as the others exit, leaving the pair of you a moment. “Cards on the table, a group of those people who run around at night visited me and then that night you were out with Jay one of them visited again and he gave me his jacket and then he took it back but then he gave it back and then Jason came into the pet shop today before you did and I got his number and I texted him and I realized that hot guy Jason from the store was some kind of vigilante guy because of what he said and now I get here and they’re the same person and your brother Jason is the Red Hood? And he’s running around with other vigilantes who have hair the same as these people we’ve just walked into and please call me crazy, Dick, that I’m a big ol’ loon, please?”
You don’t mess with the f*cked system in Gotham and you certainly don’t get involved with someone involved with the f*cked system.
“I’m Nightwing.” Dick says in a rush. “And kinda Batman.”
Your nose wrinkles as you try not to burst into tears.
Just… One thing after another.
“It’s okay, I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” Dick pulls you into his chest and you don’t resist. He’s Nightwing but he’s still your Dickie, your platonic soulmate. “I was going to tell you soon, but I know how you feel about all of it and I didn’t want you to hate me or my family before you met them.”
“Dick!” Someone yells obnoxiously before being loudly hushed.
“I didn’t know about this Jason thing, I wish he’d have spoken to me, this is my fault for mentioning you to them.”
You hug him tight before pulling back and shaking out your hair. Pasting on a smile, you beam at your best friend.
“It’s a party, Dick, for a dog, I think we should focus on that for now and hope I haven’t ruined any chance to make Barbara like me.” You laugh half-heartedly, before taking his hand and stepping purposefully toward the doors everyone else waits behind.
Heck this was a heck one like just definitely took a while and quite stressful to write idk what was going on

Mint chocolate ice cream
Words: 2k
Summary: You had to hide your relationship with Tim for a long time, but when he's on the verge of dying could you keep your secret?
"you always think you are right, but you're so wrong this time"
You said glaring at Tim, but you were not that intimidating, because the ghost of your smile was pretty obvious, besides, you couldn't be angry with him when you two were cuddling on his bed, Tim laughed
"I'm totally right, I'm telling you mint chocolate is the best ice cream ever, and you can't change my mind"
You shook your head and licked the ice cream cone you had in your hand, and when Tim was distracted, you stained his nose with your own ice cream and laughed, he laughed too, trying to clean your mess with his hand
"that was so unnecessary"
He said, tickling your side, you laughed even more and now you two were on a tickling war
"okay, okay, you win, I'm sorry"
You finally said and he smiled
"fine, I'll stop when you say mint chocolate is the best ice cream"
You laughed
"never"
And you kissed him, it was a sweet kiss because of the ice cream that you just had, he relaxed and you knew you won, but you didn't want to break the kiss just yet, so you put your hands on the back of his neck, this was the best feeling ever, and you were so glad he kissed you on that mission when you both thought you were going to die, this relationship was the best part of your day when you didn't have to hide it from the rest of the world, if Dick or Jason found out it would be a disaster, so you kept it a secret. His lips were now on your neck and you laughed a little until Tim separated abruptly
"they're home"
He said with wide eyes, and at the second he finished his sentence, you ran as fast as you could to leave his bedroom, but not before grabbing the ice cream you left on his night table
"(y/n), wait"
"see you"
Was the last thing you whispered before closing the door behind you. You ran in the hallway to go to your room so no one could suspect you were on Tim's room, but this was not your lucky day because when you where on a corner you felt your body crashing into someone else's
"shit (y/n), why are you running in the halls?"
Barbara didn't seem happy about the fact you had just stained her shirt with the ice cream you had in your hands
"sorry, I left something on the microwave and I wanted to grab it before one of you could"
You said, smiling, Barbara looked at you with her eyebrows furrowed
"no, you didn't, Dick just made popcorn"
"so that's what I smelled! Thank you, I'll go grab some"
You sprinted at the kitchen so Barbara wouldn't ask anything else, and when you were finally there, you sighted on relief, that was too close
"hey, do you want some popcorn?"
Dick's voice got you back to reality, but you quickly nodded
"yes please, are we watching a movie?“
You asked, grabbing some popcorn
"of course, like we always do a day before a mission"
"great, who choose?"
"Jason"
"great, either a movie full of gore or pride and prejudice"
You sat beside Damian, in an attempt to sit as far away from Tim
"did you had a fall or a fight today?"
Questioned Damian, focusing on you and not the movie
"no, why?"
"you have a weird bruise on your neck"
And just those words were enough for everyone to stop paying attention to the movie and look at you
"what?"
Dick asked, and Steph hurried to turn the lights on, you panicked, you didn't have a hickey this morning, so it must had been...
"it's true! She does"
Barbara laughed, but no one of your brothers did the same
"who the hell gave you a hickey?"
Asked Jason, raising one eyebrow
"hickey?"
Cass' innocence would have made you laugh if it wasn't for the amount of trouble you'd be if you didn't say something quickly
"it's not a hickey!"
"yeah right, you fell and hit your neck"
Said Tim with a sarcastic tone, you opened and closed your mouth, but you understood that it would be suspicious if he didn't say anything
"can we please watch the movie?"
You tried, but Dick put the remote under the pillow and stared at you
"our little sister is growing up"
He said in an exaggerated sad tone, you rolled your eyes
"no, she's still a kid! I'm going to murder the guy who did that to her. Slowly and painfully"
Jason was proving his point by eating popcorn angrily, Tim looked at him with fear in his eyes but he had to mask it somehow
"you're damn right, I'll help you with that bastard"
Barbara snorted like she was holding back laughter for a long time, but before she could explain why she was laughing, Bruce opened the door abruptly
"Change of plans, go suit up"
The mission went terribly wrong, your job was to watch the entrance with Damian to stop anyone to come into the abandoned house where some bad guys had the stuff they steal from the hospital, leaving a lot of pasients helpless. The others went into the house and you saw Tim climbing to the roof and you smiled, he turned to you when he already climbed and winked, that would have made you giggle but you were on mission, so you concentrated on the entrance to stop anyone from going in or leaving
"I see them, three guys, I don't think they're armed"
Dick spoke through your coms
"there's like 20 guys on the second floor"
Tim's voice was like a whisper, so that made you think some of the guys were close to him, and that made you worry
"there's more than 20 down here, there's a lot more guys that B thought"
Said Jason, and you heard a sound of agreement from Cass
"just follow the plan I don't think th- shit!“
Tim wasn't able to finish his sentence because a loud noise interrupted him, and then all you could hear was fight noises
"I need backup ASAP!"
He sounded scared, and that made you run into the house, but Damian took your hand
"we shouldn't leave our position"
You thought about it for a second, he was right, but then you heard a gun shot an Tim's groan
"Red Robin are you alright? We can't go to the second floor, they locked it and we're fighting here too"
But Tim didn't answer to Dick's question, and when you let go of Damian's hand, some the bad guys ran to the entrance and you had to fight them, and you soon saw your partners on the entrance
"we got all of the first floor, what's your situation Red Robin?"
Dick asked again, no answer
"Red Robin! Please answer"
You yelled
"I- I'm fine" he sounded wounded, like he could barely talk "they took me and the supplies in a secret closet because they thought I was dead and then they took the supplies and left through a secret door, I think I ca-"
"don't even think about it, come back here"
Jason’s voice was firm, like he knew something he wasn't telling you
"if they leave, the mission would have been on vain"
"Tim, you sound hurt, just return here, if you follow them they will realize and they will kill you just imagine how many bad guys are wherever that secret door leads to"
This time, was Dick's turn to be firm
"it's worth the try"
Tim said, and you heard him struggle to stand up
"Tim, please get back here, we can do better research and get them later"
You were desperate, you knew how stubborn Tim could be and you needed to convince him to leave the guys alone for the moment or he would die
"I'm sorry, I need to do this"
And when you heard a door open, you didn't think it twice
" I love you!" You screamed with evident terror in your voice "alright? I love you, and I'm not losing you before I can say it in your stupid face so please leave the damn thieves alone and get back here... Please"
No response. Everything went quiet for a long time, no one spoke a word, half confused about what you just said and half worried about Tim. You waited for something, anything that confirmed that Tim came back, but when nothing happened your knees hit the ground and you started to cry. You felt Dick's hand on your shoulder and you stood up to hug him
"hey, he will come back, I'm sure he will"
Dick's words felt empty, he knew that Tim's chances of survival were slim to none if he followed the thieves, and at that moment everyone was sure he did, because it was Tim, of course he followed the thieves, but it was not what you needed to hear at the moment
"let's go home, we can track him from there"
Barbara said carefully, she was afraid that you would have a negative reaction to her words but you dryed your tears with your hand and nodded. Everyone started walking to the vehicle, a few heads turning around at times to see if there was a sign of Tim, but there was none.
You were just about to enter the vehicle when a voice stopped you
"leaving so soon?"
Said someone in your coms. Tim. You turned around and there he was, at the end of the alley trying to walk towards you but he was doing it ridiculously slowly because of his injuries.
You ran as fast as you could and hugged him with all your strength, burying your head on his chest
"I thought I lost you"
You said between tears, but he took your chin with one of his hands and made you look at him. He kissed you. Tim and you had kissed each other a lot of times, but this kiss was different, even different than you first kiss, it was comforting, and warm and it tasted salty because of your tears but you two melted before Tim pulled back a little, with his forehead still touching yours
"I love you too" He said "ouch"
You were too caught up in each other that you didn't notice everyone standing beside you, and Tim complained because Jason just punched him lightly in the arm
"I said I'd beat the crap out of the guy that gave (y/n) a hickey but you look like shit so I'll do it later" He said, smiling widely "c'mon, let's get you to Alfred"
Dick and Jason helped Tim to get into the vehicle and you sat beside him, intertwining your fingers with him
"awww guys, you're too cute"
Said Stephanie
"yeah, I thought you were just hooking up, I never thought you actually loved each other"
Barbara said and Jason stopped the car abruptly
"you knew?"
You asked, confused, you were so careful
"yeah, it was really obvious"
"how?"
Questioned Tim, holding back laughter because of his probably fractured rib
"well, I need to give you guys credit, because I just figured it out today"
"the bruise?"
Cas intervined, with furrowed eyebrows
"well not really, see, I was trying to get to the bathroom when (y/n) crashed into me and she said she was running because she left something on the microwave, but Dick was making popcorn so it was a lie and she left before I could ask her why she was on that part of the mannor when her room was not there, and then Tim got out of his room to go to the living room, so I was suspicious, but the thing that made me one hundred percent sure was that (y/n) stained my shirt with mint chocolate ice cream"
"Tim's favorite"
Dick said
"exactly"

Just the Two of Us
A/N: Hey everyone! I’m finally on summer vacation which means I’ll be able to read and write more which is totally fun! This is my first major fic about Damian, and I’m totally excited to share it with you all. Enjoy!
Summary: Damian is nervous and frightened that he’s losing his older adopted sister Y/N and is determined to spend as much time with her, even when Jason and his brothers crash their slumber party.
Warnings: Language, mentions of sexual activities, and too much fluff.
This is a totally random night. What should have been a night all to myself while my boyfriend participates in ‘guys night’, I find myself sitting on a thick pink comforter while we’re hidden underneath sheets in a perfectly created fort.
Because Damian insisted we needed a fort for our “slumber party.”
“There...finally we have privacy for our slumber party. I do not want Grayson, Todd, and Drake interrupting our night. Now, what else do we do on these...nights, sister?” Damian asks. The curiosity and interest in his eyes never fade.
Yes, the thirteen-year-old Damian had overheard me talking to Barbara about how slumber parties were a way to reconnect with friends, share secrets, and just be there for each other. As an adult, I still found slumber parties to be fun, but haven’t had one since I was a teenager but had missed it so much. After my confession, I found out Damian had Alfred put together a slumber party for him and I.
The fort is spectacular; knowing how Alfred and Damian practically used the highest furniture to make it big and sturdy just shows no man in this family does anything half ass.
I unzip my sweater to reveal my tank top and pajama shorts, as Damian sits down after changing into a thin t-shirt and sweatpants. After he settles down, he sits cross legged like me and he smiles.
Just seeing Damian smile warms my heart, after everything that has happened.
I was thrown into the Batfamily at just fifteen-years-old. My parents abandoned me. I was living out on the street and did dirty work for Two-Face just to survive. But on a night that Two-Face was done with me was the night Batman and Robin saved me.
I was not only adopted by Bruce Wayne, but I became the newest superhero, NightBat. Five years of working alongside Bruce, Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, and Tim Drake, they gave my life meaning and became the light in my former dark life.
But being NightBat was something I couldn’t keep doing since I fell in love.
Yes.
Yes, I fell in love with Jason Todd.
After Jason’s death and resurrection, Jason was on the edge of becoming as dangerous as the Joker. It took the Batfamily and I a very long time to save Jason, but in the process, Jason and I kissed; a kiss that revealed how long we loved each other and how much we meant to each other.
After our confessions, Jason asked me to be his girlfriend and we’ve began dating. We’ve been together for three years now.
But with dating came some cold hard truths. Jason had been a nervous wreck and constantly worried about me fighting alongside them. And after he voiced his concerns, I realized crime fighting wouldn’t exactly help my future goals.
What if I wanted to get pregnant one day?
Although Jason and I never spoke about kids, I always wondered if he wanted them secretly or if he has even thought about having them with me.
But it was settled anyways. I worked behind the computers while Damian’s entrance into the Batfamily made him Robin. But just knowing Damian was enough for me to realize how kind and caring he was underneath the anger and hatred he was bred into believing.
And after a while, Damian and I became close; we’re almost like best friends (Barbara is right behind him).
Although Damian was initially against my relationship with Jason, it took everyone by surprise especially with how overprotective and serious Damian was about my wellbeing. But after serious and heart to heart talks with Bruce and Alfred, I realized Damian really saw me as a sister and wanted to protect me and make sure I’m taken care of because of his newfound brotherly duties.
Which could explain Damian wanting a spontaneous slumber party tonight. Even though Damian’s random thoughts and ideas for us to hang out is not unusual.
What’s unusual is how he’s been clingy these past few days. I haven’t exactly confronted him or tell anyone about my suspicions.
“We can make s’mores outside?” I suggest. The thought of a roasted marshmallow on a piece of milk chocolate and in between two graham crackers makes me lick my lips. “That sounds like fun.”
“Excellent. I’ll go fetch Pennyworth and have him provide us with the supplies,” Damian announces.
We begin to crawl out of our fort until someone jumps down, pokes their head in, and growls at us. Damian and I scream and fall and crawl back into the corner of the fort. Laughter. Men laughing takes us by surprise.
Jason Todd.
Dick Grayson.
Tim Drake.
Damian climbs off me and growls himself as we crawl out of the fort. And there were the three brothers, with Jason on the floor holding his stomach while laughing his ass off, as Dick and Tim were standing and laughing hard while covering their mouths and shaking a lot. As Damian and I stand up, Damian kicks Jason in the stomach.
“What the fuck?!” Jason snaps.
“How dare you frighten us, Todd! I should kill you where I stand!” Damian yells.
“I’d like to see you try, fucker!”
Before Jason reaches to grab Damian’s foot, I kneel beside my boyfriend. “Jay, what the hell are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be at guys night?” I ask curiously.
“The little shit head never showed up at the movies. He fucking ditched us!” Jason answers, and he’s trying hard to not lose his cool with me. “And why are you here, Y/N? Shouldn’t you be back at home enjoying your ‘masturbating alone’ time?”
“Damian invited me to stay the night so we’re hanging out,” I say.
“Okay…but since Damian never showed up, we came back here to drag his little ass out,” Jason says, glaring at Damian.
“That’s why we came back here,” Tim replies.
“So Little D, you ready to go now? We always hang out every Friday night,” Dick says, offering a hand to help Jason up. Once Jason’s on his feet, Damian scoffs and shakes his head.
“As you idiotic pests can see, I already have plans with Y/LN. You imbeciles can go ahead and leave us alone,” Damian says, not even hiding the fact that he’s pissed off at them.
Damian grabs my arm and tries to lead me into the backyard, but Jason grabs my other arm. “What the hell do you think you’re doing, demon spawn?! Y/N’s my girlfriend! Don’t you know guys who flirt or try to steal other guys’ girls end up getting their asses handed to them and buried six feet under! Now get your fucking little hands off her!” Jason snaps viciously.
“Jason stop! What is your problem?!” I demand. I pull my arm away from him, shocking not only him but Dick and Tim as well.
“Don’t you see what he’s doing, babe? He’s trying to take you outside and do whatever that little pervert has planned!” Jason claims desperately.
“T-t,” Damian scoffs, and shakes his head at Jason. “You are a very, ignorant, arrogant, fool Todd. Y/LN and I are brother and sister. Father adopted her, which makes her my sister. As her brother, I have the right to spend time with her; one on one time since bonding is appropriate and needed for people to grow, learn, and be content. Whatever sick delusions you have are merely your own issues, not mine. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going outside to make s’mores.”
Dick’s eyes widen and he perks up. “S’mores? I want s’mores!” Dick cries out excitedly.
“Well, too bad Grayson. It’s only for Y/LN and me,” Damian snaps.
Damian manages to get us outside but Jason and the other two just wouldn’t leave us alone. I realize something’s bothering Damian, and I need to get to the bottom of it before he explodes, and we’ll just keep on fighting.
“Damian, something’s bothering you. Please tell me what it is,” I plead. The younger brother continues gripping my arm and I can hear him breathing hard. “If you say we’re as close as you say we are, then you should be able to tell me. I can help you. I want to help you.”
“It’s nothing,” Damian mumbles under his breath. He refuses to look at me or our brothers. “Just forget it. It’s pathetic.”
“Your problems are never pathetic. It’s okay to have problems and to solve them,” I disagree, and I finally am able to pull away from Damian’s grasp. “I don’t think I can continue our slumber party unless you tell me what is wrong. So, tell me what is wrong, Dami.”
Damian finally turns around, and his eyes are teary. Despite his rough and tough exterior, inside is a boy who has never had an innocent and fun childhood. He’s on the verge of breaking down, and just seeing him this upset breaks my heart.
“You’re…never around anymore Y/N,” Damian says to me, as he allows himself to cry and tell me and our brothers what’s been bothering him. “Ever since you and Todd have become…what Grayson says, “exclusive”, you have barely been home. You always spend time with him, and whenever our family gets together, you’re always with him: kissing him, embracing him, holding his hand, and always just touching him while you forget I’m beside you, too. I-I don’t have any serious issues with your relationship with Todd, despite our ongoing brotherly feud, I truly believe he cares about you and loves you as much as you deserve and more. But it always feels like you don’t even speak to me or want to “hang out” with me anymore. When was the last time it was just you and I alone?”
I can’t control my own tears from falling. “Maybe a month ago?” I choke out.
“Two months ago,” Damian corrects me. “You moved out six months ago to move into his apartment, and you’ve only been back home for short visits.”
“Damian…I’m so sorry. I-I didn’t know you felt that way. But you have to know that I still love you and care about you,” I say, hoping he would understand. Damian looks up at me, even our heights are close (because he’s becoming a rather tall boy). His green eyes glisten from his tears and the patio light. I reach out to touch his face, and he closes his eyes and leans into my touch. “I never meant to hurt you like that. I love you, and you’re my little brother and I should be around more because we’re not only family, but we’re friends too. From now on, I’ll be coming home more. Okay? Can you please forgive me and give me another chance?”
Damian’s eyes open, and he smiles at me. That smile is enough to warm my heart again. “I would be a fool to not give you another chance, Y/N. Can we please continue on with our slumber party?” he asks softly.
“Of course, Dami.”
I hug him tightly. As we hug each other, I notice Dick smiling proudly at us for solving our problems. Tim sighs, and looks at Dick and Jason. “Poker night?” Tim asks.
“I’m in. But this time, I’m shuffling the cards,” Dick says, as he and Tim head back inside to give Damian and I privacy for our slumber party. “Jason cheats, and I believe you count cards!”
“I don’t count cards! You don’t have evidence; you can’t prove anything!” Tim shouts.
As Damian and I pull away from each other, Jason clears his throat. He runs a nervous hand through his dark hair, and sighs.
“I…I’m sorry Damian. I didn’t know you felt that way. I’m obviously fucked up, so in my defense, I tend to get jealous and crazy because I love Y/N so much. And I know you love Y/N as well, so how about we set aside a schedule or something during the week?” Jason suggests.
“Maybe when you want to hang out with Dick, Tim, and Roy, on your ‘guys night’, maybe Damian and I can have our own “siblings’ night” or something. What do you say to that, Dami?” I ask, hoping he’d love the idea.
Damian smiles sincerely. “I would…appreciate and respect that idea. Thank you Y/N. Thank you Jason,” Damian says, before engulfing Jason in a rough hug. Jason chuckles, and hugs Damian back.
“Tell anyone about this Todd, and I’ll castrate you in your sleep,” Damian threatens.
“I was just going to tell you the same thing, Omen. And hey, you called me Jason,” Jason teases.
“Fuck you, Todd!”
“Fuck you, Wayne!”
I roll my eyes at both, as they quickly move away from each other after their hug. I finally make my way to Jason, and he immediately looks down at me with so much love and admiration. His blue eyes steal my attention.
“I really like what you did back there, Jason. You’re so sweet and caring. You even apologized and helped Damian out,” I say. “I really admire that.”
“Well, he is my…little brother,” Jason says quietly. “Not like I had a choice, right?”
I smirk at him. I stand on my toes to reach up and kiss him. “I love you,” I whisper against his mouth.
“I love you too, doll. I love you so fucking much, Y/N,” Jason whispers back, and kisses me again.
Damian scoffs to get our attention. We stop kissing and look at him. “Now that we solved my problem, I believe it is time for you to leave, Todd,” Damian says seriously.
Jason sighs, and kisses me again. “Maybe all of us can do something tomorrow? Just you, me, Damian, Dick, and Tim?” Jason asks.
“I would like that a lot,” I agree.
“And I agree as well,” Damian agrees with me.
“Well, then I guess I’ll see you in the morning, doll,” Jason says softly. “Goodnight.”
“Yeah, goodnight Jay,” I say.
Jason grins, and kisses me once more despite Damian making gagging noises. As soon as we pull away, Alfred comes outside with a tray of marshmallows, pieces of chocolate bars, and graham crackers. Jason sneaks a handful of chocolate and some marshmallows and waves us off.
“Night Omen!”
“Night Hellboy!”
“My word! Master Damian, I bring you the items you requested. Is there anything else I can do for you?” Alfred sighs.
I take a seat on one of the patio chairs, as Damian starts a fire into the firepit Bruce and the boys made a while ago. As the fire glows and rises, he smiles at me and I smile back at him.
Because Damian and I finally fixed our problem, and as siblings, we only have adventures and memories to share and create now.
“No, thank you Pennyworth. My sister and I are set tonight. We’re okay now.”

__________________________________________________
 Every time Richard Grayson came to visit his parents, siblings or “grandfather” (he came to call Alfred “gramps”, just to annoy him), nostalgia pinched his heart.
Whenever he climbed those steps to the main entrance, opened the big doors to come in the foyer, walked down corridors, rooms etc etc...memories of his childhood and teen years in the manor surged him, and filled him with a kind of sadness that wasn’t too terrible to endure.
A kind of sadness he always greeted as an old friend.
Nostalgia.
Heart tightening, and a stupid fond smile plastered on his face.
Every time.
You’d think after four years, it wouldn’t happen anymore, right ? But no.
Dick Grayson was a sentimental, and even though he moved out of his home years ago, and found a nice apartment in Blüdhaven, built his own home...It always made him feel weird to come back to the Manor.
Even more since he married his teenage sweetheart, Barbara Gordon, and got his first child (the most wonderful little girl in the universe ! Position she shared with his little sister Cass’ of course, who was so cute when she was still a kid ! Damian, aka “most protective uncle ever”, agreed).
Because now, with his job as a police officer and his nightly activities in Blüdhaven...He rarely had time to come “home”.
Well, that wasn’t really true.
He still came over at least four times a week and, on most week-ends, his family would come to his apartment to have lunch. And he often caught up with one of his siblings, or parents, or Alfred but...it wasn’t the same anymore.
He still didn’t see you as often as he used to. As often as he wanted to.
It was actually a tough change for him, to not be able to get out of his room and find one of you somewhere in his house.
He actually thought about asking his dad to buy an entire building, and then you guys could all live on one floor and you’d be all together always and...he quickly realized it was unreasonable and ridiculous.
It was just so strange that he couldn’t see any of you whenever he wanted. He was a “responsible” adult now (who bought legos for his daughter just so he could play with them too).
He grew up...and his siblings too. Hell, Damian was going to be seventeen !!
He had to accept that things were changing. Evolving.
It was awful.
...Though he found reassurance in the fact that some things actually never changed.
Like how much his parents were in love.
Dick had let himself in the manor and was looking for any members of his family, roaming the gigantic house.
He found Alfred asleep on his father’s office chair, a duster in one hand (the poor butler wasn’t getting any younger, and got tired easily nowadays).
Dick put a blanket over him and left the office silently, continuing his search.
He found you and Bruce in the main living room, asleep as well, on the couch, in each others’ arms.
You weren’t getting any younger either...and though his mom, you, was quite younger than Bruce, it seemed like you were the one who was getting tired the fastest lately...
You weren’t even fifty yet ! But in the past few months, you always seemed so exhausted and such...Dick made a mental note to remind you to rest more, and to stop taking care of them so much like that, it would kill you one day !
There was a note on the living room table. Dick recognized his youngest brother’s handwriting (elegant and classy). The note stated :
“Parents,
We went to Jason’s place to see his new motorcycle and to kick his ass butt ass (sorry Mom, for trying to watch my profanities :p (this stupid smiley was added by Tim Drake)) at Tekken,
Love you (Cassandra forced me to write that),
Damian, Cass and Tim.”
Dick smiled at the thought of his younger siblings playing Tekken.
That game always ended in “bloodshed” and fights, at the Wayne household (competitive kids)...until you would come along and win every game and settle their quarrel easily.
You were the best at Tekken, period.
Well, there was the sempiternel fight about who was the second best but you know...
Yes, his siblings’ antics always made Dick smile uncontrollably.
Another thing that always made him smile : you and Bruce, forever in love.
And as he was looking fondly over you two, at your embraced form on the couch, he couldn’t help but smile like an idiot and think : “relationship goal, right there”.
It was everything he aspired to have with Barbara. Your perfect relationship.
Haha.
Perfect ? Well, not always.
You were both too stubborn for your own good, and had quite a temper. A strong personality too, which meant that sometimes, fights happened.
Small ones about petty things, and big one over important matters...but it always ended up the same, wether it was about something small or big : with you two apologizing profusely, regardless of who was wrong, and then...going to...do...gross things in your bedroom (or whatever place somewhat private was available to you).
Dick shivered.
He was almost thirty and did some...uncatholic things with Barbara too but he could never not be be grossed out by his parents doing...ew.
Whatever, the important thing there, wasn’t that, but it was that no matter what, you’d always pull through. You always had each other’s back. You always made up, and your “perfect” relationship would only grow stronger each time.
You guys were made for each others, and it wasn’t a silly fight that would separate you two (Hell, every healthy couple fought from time to time).
Though...it almost did once.
Here’s a memory Dick didn’t particularly cherish.
That time he almost never had a second (amazing and perfect) mom.
That time you two almost made a decision that would have make the both of you forever miserable and bitter.
That time you almost ruined your life (Dick loved to be over-dramatic...though in this instance, he genuinely believed you almost ruined each others life).
************
Nearly twenty years earlier :
-Oh my God Bruce, get over yourself !
-I’m the one that’s suppose to get over myself ?! Please (Y/N), grow up !
This was terrible.
Dick had to do all the efforts in the World not to cry.
He had been living with you and Bruce Wayne for the past six months now (you moved in with Bruce after about a year of relationship...Eight months hidden from paparazzis and danger, four months officially together. It was Bruce’s idea. He loved you, you were almost always at the Manor anyway, you had an entire chest of drawers full of your stuffs...you might as well live with him !).
And though the pain of losing his parents was still vivid, his little eight years old heart felt he had another chance at life. Felt like he could still be happy.
Sometimes, he felt awful that, only six months after his parents’ death, he was already feeling better...but he couldn’t help it.
You, Bruce and Alfred made him feel like he was home instantly, as soon as he set foot in Wayne Manor.
Especially you, if he was honest. Bruce was busy, and Alfred’s English phlegm didn't go through Dick yet, just like Dick’s need for hugs and reassurance wasn’t clear enough for the butler yet. But you...
You were but (almost) twenty two years old and yet took full responsibility (well, almost too, Bruce was there too) of that lost (and adorable) kid.
Though you were barely an adult yourself, you didn’t hesitate one second about what you’d do when Bruce said he was taking Dick as his ward.
You just took care of him as if he was yours, without questions.
When he had nightmares, shivering in his bed, you were there before he opened his eyes and screamed. And you always convinced Bruce easily to let him sleep in your bed, between the two of you, when he was still too scared to fall back asleep.
You always asked him if he was alright, you listened to him, and to put it in a simpler way : you just loved him. You made sure he knew you loved him. Made sure he knew he still had a family.
In fact, you and Bruce were making him feel so at home that he almost called you “mom” and “dad” a few times.
...He wanted to call you like that.
But he was to afraid that it would mean betraying his own parents, betraying their memory ! Oh man, it was a lot to take for an eight year old boy, life wasn’t suppose to be that difficult at that age !
...It seemed though, like part of his dilemma would be no more soon, as he keeps listening to you and Bruce arguing in the living room, hiding on top of the stairs:
-I guess this is what I get for dating a goddamn child !
Bruce says angrily, and your face says it all. It looses all colors, and it seems to Dick as if you were deeply wounded by Bruce’s words...but too stubborn to actually show it, as you say :
-Oh. Child. Of course. It didn’t seem to bother you last night uh ?
-Completely unrelated to the subject.
-Oh really ?
-Yes really, and you know it (Y/N). You’re being unresonable. You know you’re wrong, and lack arguments, hence you start to talk about things that has nothing to do with the subject.
-Like you just did by stating that you’re dating a “goddamn child” ?
Dick couldn’t really understand everything you were saying (he was so curious about what you did last night though...a pillow fight maybe ? if the situation wasn’t so desperate, and made him feel so miserable, then he would have been vexed that you didn’t invite him to said pillow fight !), but his heart tightened at your every words.
He couldn’t stand seeing you two fight.
He wasn’t used to see you two fight...In six months with you guys, he only saw you argue about very petty things a few times, and immediately apologize.
But this time ? It seemed serious.
It was about Bruce’s night activities (Dick knew now that he was the Batman), and how he put himself in useless danger sometimes. How he needed to be more careful.
It was about Bruce not wanting you to meddle with this part of his life at all, even if he knew you were right.
It was about Bruce still being somewhat reluctant about letting you fully in his life.
It was about Bruce being an insensitive prick.
It was about you being too stubborn to let it go.
It was about you wanting to meddle with his night activities, because you cared about what happened to him, but also because you were vexed he was treating you like a weak child, trying to shield you from all of it.
It was about you not being experienced enough with his “dark side” yet to realize when to stay silent, or to know how exactly to tell him things.
There was a way to talk to Bruce. And you didn’t master it quite yet...it would take you a few more years for that really. Your boyfriend (soon to be husband) was a damn complicated man.
-Don’t tell me what to do (Y/N). I was upfront with you. You know this...is...my life work, and it comes first.
You stay in front of him for a few moments, in silence, taking his words in.
Bruce looks at you back, his face unreadable.
He knows perfectly well this is not the truth, that you and Dick are more important than anything else now...but he’s too stubborn to admit it, he’s still too used to his old lonely ways (even though he had you by his side for more than a year now...it had just been six months since you were here 24/7).
And he’s not sure he wants to let it go...Wouldn’t that mean betraying his parents ?
Finally, you say those awful words, that makes Dick want to cry even more :
-Fine, I think we’re done here then.
-Fine.
-Fine.
You glare at Bruce, and he gives you one of his infuriating arrogant look in return. It does indeed, infuriate you.
When you said : “I think we’re done here”, you didn’t mean “done” forever. You meant that there was nothing more to say. That this fight was over, and would stay unresolved. You meant...but it doesn’t matter what you meant, because he misunderstands and, struggling to hide how truly heartbroken he is, he says coldly :
-You know where the door is.
It’s a tone he never used with you before. It lacks love, awe, fondness, joy...it’s empty (just like he’s feeling now), and it hurts you more than anything else.
And from there...Things escalate quickly.
You both say things you do not actually mean. You both enter “self-defense” mode and starts to be genuinely awful to each others.
You both go too far.
Neither of you actually say the word “break-up”, but as you storm off the manor without even saying “bye” to Alfred or Dick, what is happening is pretty clear.
Sat on the floor in the corridors upstairs, Dick hears you leave in a fury, saying profanities he would never dare to say out loud.
He hears Bruce yell : “And don’t come back !”.
And all he can do, is stay there, “hidden”, crying softly. When Alfred finds him, a few hours later, for the first time since he came in the Manor, he takes him in his arms, and they stay like that for a bit.
Bruce sees them, as he climbs the stairs...but he ignores them. Silently, he goes and locks himself in his bedroom, trying to erase from his head the face of that poor little boy who’s crying in his butler’s arms.
For the second time in his life, Dick Grayson’s family is “dead”.
************
Dick doesn’t see you for almost an entire week.
The day after your departure, one of your friend came to get your stuffs.
Bruce wasn’t there...since you left he buried himself in his work, both by day and by night.
Bruce Wayne never attended that many meetings at Wayne Inc, and Batman never arrested that many criminals in the streets in such a short time span.
The poor man was exhausted, both physically and mentally...Dick understood. When he first arrived at Wayne Manor, right after his parents’ death, he never forgot the look his adopted father gave you, when he said : “I know things are difficult for you right now...but I promise it will get better. I know my words might sound hollow for you but...one day, you’ll see. One day, you’ll realize that the World is still spinning, and that you’re still able to love and be loved. I hope I will help, just like others have helped me”, emphasizing the fact that Bruce knew most of his happiness came from you being by his side.
But he was too stubborn to admit it, and therefor, worked even more.
Maybe he was trying to stay distracted, to keep going so he would never have time to actually think about what happened ?
Maybe.
Dick doesn’t hear anything about you for an entire week, when you finally call. It seems you knew Bruce wasn’t there, as you called on the Manor’s landline.
Alfred answers of course, and you two talk for a few minutes. It sounds to Dick as if the butler went through different feelings while talking to you, from despair to anger, finishing on a beaten note.
He comes to him, and gives him the phone, saying a flat and emotionless :
-It is Miss (Y/L/N).
Excitedly, Dick takes the machine in his small hand and says, voice full of hope :
-(Y/N) ?
It’s such a relief, to hear you say :
-Hey buddy, how’s it going ?
-Ok. When are you coming back ?
There’s an awkward silence, and he can feel by your tone that you’re choosing your words very carefully :
-I...I’m not sure I’m coming back kiddo.
HAHA ! “Not sure”. You didn’t outright say : “I’m not coming back”. You just said..”not sure”. This was something, right ? You continue :
-Listen buddy, what about I take you to the fair tomorrow ? And we can talk. Would you like that ?
-Yes ! Yes I would love that !
On the other side of the line, you can’t help but smile. Damn you missed that kid. But your smile soon turn sad and you say :
-I have to go right now, but we’ll talk more tomorrow ok ? Can you give the phone back to Alfred please ?
-Yes. See you tomorrow right ?
-Right.
-Promise ?
-Promise.
-Good. You can’t break a promise. Bye bye, I love you.
The words come out of his mouth faster than he can think and...he’s a bit embarrassed, but not too much. After all, it’s true. He loves you.
Your voice breaks a bit as you answer :
-Love you too buddy, love you too. See you tomorrow.
He gives the phone back to Alfred, and act as if he’s going back to his business, though he clearly tries to listen in on what the butler says.
Alfred though, knows better, and walks further away, and Dick end up only understanding a few cryptic words : “...ask him yourself...” “...miserable...” “...back...” “...his everything...”.
Soon enough though, being just a child, he forgets about it, and focus all heartedly on the perspective of seeing you again tomorrow. And at the fair at that ! He couldn’t wait.
He missed you so much, during that week of silence...
************
You end the call with Alfred and your heart is filled with nothing but sadness and pain.
You want to call Bruce, to beg him to take you back, to apologize, to...whatever really. You just want to hear his voice.
But you don’t. Because you’re too stubborn. Because he doesn’t call you either.
And man, why did you have to feel so bad about not talking to Dick in a week ? You weren’t his mom after all !!
Just thinking those words make your heart bleed. It makes you realize that things are truly over, and that you’ll...never...be...his mom. For the hundredth time that week, you go to bed early and weep all night...
************
Bruce is greeted by a very excited Dick who jumps in his arms and goes on and on about what he’ll do the next day. Automatically, Bruce catches him and lifts him up in the air, holding him against his chest.
It takes the Batman a few minutes to finally understand why, for the first time in a week, his boy seems so lively.
It’s you.
Of course, it’s you.
It’s the prospect of seeing you again.
For a split second, Bruce’s heart beats faster, and it almost feels as if he’s going to be the one seeing you tomorrow.
But the dark reality slaps him in the face fast enough. He won’t see you. Not ever. Not after all the things he dared to tell you...
And oh he regrets every single words, oh he wishes he was brave enough to call you and beg for your forgiveness...He would do anything to get you back, he would do anything you wanted. He would even stop being Batman, if that’s what it took and...But it wouldn’t happen.
He was too cowardly, too proud and stubborn, to actually call you and apologize. To actually give himself another shot at “being happy”.
It couldn’t happen anymore. He had his chance, and he blew it. It was destiny bringing him back down on Earth. You’d be better off without him. That was sure. It’s as if life was telling him : “you’ve been a selfish bastard, you knew your relationship with her wouldn’t actually go anywhere, and you played with her...this is your punishment. Karma’s a bitch”.
And as Dick was going on and on about all the things he’d do with you at the fair, it dawned on him that...vacations were over.
You left, forever.
He had to...
-DO YOU THINK THERE’S ROLLERCOASTERS AT THE FAIR ?! DO YOU THINK I’M TALL ENOUGH TO RIDE THEM !!?? DO YOU THINK (Y/N) WILL BUY ME COTTON CANDY ?!
Just talking about you made him want to end it all. That’s how much he loved and missed you. He’ve had enough of this life of pain and misery. When you came in, you eclipsed (almost) the darkness...if he didn’t make a promise to his parents, that he would spend his life avenging them, he’s not sure he would still be alive.
He listens, keeping silent, to Dick’s ramblings about you, and about what you guys are going to do. Alfred fills him in on what you said on the phone, how you asked to see Dick and take him out for the day.
Bruce doesn’t say anything. He couldn’t bear the fact that the boy would be able to see and touch you, while he himself would never be allowed to do that ever again. But what could he do ? Stop Dick from ever seeing you again ?
You’d never allow that, loving that kid too much. And besides...it wasn’t this poor little eight year’s old fault, your relationship didn’t last.
Why should he be punished for something he had no control over ? Bruce shook his head and chased away his selfish thoughts.
Of course he’d let Dick see you.
But...Was it really fair to do so, knowing you wouldn’t be there for him as much as you used to ? Was it fair to let him have hope of you ever coming back when Bruce knew it would never happen ? He didn’t want the boy to be hurt...
Maybe he shouldn’t let him see you.
No. This was ridiculous. You...
-Do you think I’ll be able to convince her to come back, eh, Bruce ?
Lost in his thoughts, it seemed as if the Batman lost track of the conversation, and didn’t hear a big chunk of Dick’s ramblings. He couldn’t remember how the kid came to talk about you coming back...Oh this wasn’t good.
He gives a desperate look to Alfred, but the butler isn’t looking back. In fact, he’s turned away from his “master”, in an obvious “You got yourself in this mess, handle things yourself” way, and slowly leaves the room.
Bruce turns to Dick’s painfully hopeful face, and say :
-I...I don’t think she...wants to...wouldn’t want to...
He stumbles on his words, and it seems to encourage the little boy. Yes. This was his time. He had a week to rehearse his speech, but didn’t dare to say anything...but now ? Now it was the time :
-Bruce, we don’t know that ! You didn’t even call her. You guys didn’t speak calmed down yet. You know when people are angry, they say stupid things. Which is what happened. There’s still a chance, and if you want her to come bac...
-No.
Bruce understood where the boy wanted to go. And he had to rip any hope from him, now. Otherwise, it would become dangerous.
Bruce understood that Dick was about to try and convince him to make a move, to try and get you back. He guessed easily that the kid was about to tell him that he’ll talk to you tomorrow, to plead his case. That he’d help in any way shape or form.
Bruce knew that Dick was about to go on a rant about how they should try again, about how there was still...hope.
But Bruce knew better. He was convinced he would never get you back, he knew he went too far, pushed you away one too many time...He knew you thought his Batman activities were more important to him than you or worst, than Dick, and he knew you couldn’t forgive him (at the time, it seems he didn’t fully understand you yet...but you two were still in the “early stage” of the relationship of course).
And he had to destroy all hope. He had to be blunt, though dishonest.
-...No ?
Dick said in a small voice, not understanding. Closing his eyes, Bruce got on his knees and put his hands on the boy’s shoulders. After a deep sigh, he said :
-I...don’t want (Y/N) back. And I meant what I told her.
-No Bruce, you love her.
Dick’s innocent look, and the way his voice sounded so sure of his statement...almost make Bruce cracks. The man almost breaks down and tells all of his feelings to his kid but...he’s just a kid. A tiny eight years old. He couldn’t burden that boy with his pain like that...And so he shakes his head and says :
-No Dickie. No. I...Loved her. But those feelings are...gone...now. We’re...we’re not together anymore. We broke up. That’s how life is. Sometimes...you...just have to move on from good things and...or...good things turn into bad...I don’t want her back. And she doesn’t want to come back. You heard her, we’re done. It’s over.
Every single stumbling words that came out of his mouth was a struggle. But he thought that his cold tone was pretty convincing. He thought that Dick and his young age would buy his lies easily (clearly underestimating him). He gets back on his feet and ruffle his boy’s hair, taking the direction of the Batcave (he needed to think about something else than you right now).
Dick looks at him leave, tears welled up in his eyes...and more determined than ever.
************
Of course, his failure today could have had convinced him to abandon all hope.
But...no, never. He knew he was right.
That morning, you came to pick Dick up. You thought you saw Bruce looking at your car from behind his bedroom’s curtains but...It was probably all in your head. Wishful thinking. You wanting him to miss you...but for what ?
You wouldn’t get back together.
The vision of that little eight year old boy excitedly going down the Manor’s stairs, a backpack in his hand, and rushing in your car lifted your heart.
For the first time in a week, you didn’t feel too terrible. Hell, you even caught yourself smiling widely at Dick !
You feel a bit bad for not going out to say “hi” to Alfred...No, that was an understatement. You grew so close from the man, while you were dating Bruce...it physically hurt your soul to not go out to hug him and catch up...but what if Bruce was there ?
You couldn’t risk it. And so you just kinda nod at the butler from your car, and drive away, not noticing his pained expression.
The morning flies by so fast, you don’t even realize it’s already noon, only Dick’s belly grumbling gives you a hint.
And it’s there, while you eat lunch, that he attacks.
He talks about Bruce, observing your reaction. But just like your boy...ex-boyfriend, you cut his sentences short.
There is no “(Y/N) and Bruce” anymore, you’re not getting back together.
Dick can tell you even less words than he told Bruce...And yet.
Yet it doesn’t discouraged him.
It should have had. But it doesn’t.
A few months ago, Dick started his training with Bruce. One day, he too would be a night vigilante ! And one of his first lesson was this : “Always observe the situation, always know your ennemies”.
He would have never thought but today...his ennemies were the people he loved most in the World.
You and Bruce.
He triggered emotions in you by talking about getting back together, and he was now convinced that you both loved each other but were too dumb (later he’d know that “dumb” wasn’t the right word...”stubborn” was...well, stubbornness was dumb) to apologize and fix things yourselves !
Or maybe too scared ? Not brave enough ? No. Impossible. Not you two. It wasn’t that. You were really just...too dumb.
By telling you guys he would try to get you back together, he made sure that you were still in love. And obviously, you were.
You both thought you were way better liers than you really were.
Dick could see through you two. When you said “we’re not going back together, I don’t want too, and he/she wouldn’t either anyway”, all he could hear was the “anyway” signifying that there was still a kind of wish to be back together, that you were just afraid it was a one-way thing...
Yes. Months of training actually taught him a lot.
Dick was slowly becoming a detective. And theory had no secrets for him...The “know your enemies part” was over. Now came the part he...didn’t know so well.
The action.
He was still too inexperienced in that. He wasn’t sure how to act...after all, he was just an eight year old boy.
And he couldn’t ask Bruce for help, as he would usually when he was in a delicate situation, because Bruce was part of the problem...
It took Dick a few days to come up with a solution.
What did Bruce always said ?
-If you’re in deep and big trouble, and I’m not here to help...Call this number. Ask for Superman and tell him everything. He will help. He will fix things.
This definitely counted as “deep and big trouble”. And Bruce couldn’t help. And he needed someone to help him fix things...
Dick waited for Bruce to leave for his nightly activities, and for Alfred to look away (Dick wasn’t sure yet if Alfred would agree with him and his plan and...he couldn’t risk the butler to stop him. Of course, he would never do such a thing, because he wanted as much as Dick for you two to get back together, and he actually “looked away” on purpose but...well, he couldn’t blame the kid for being unsure, after all, Alfred didn’t talk much about what he thought of the situation, things being too hurtful for him to...).
He dialed the “red number” Bruce gave him.
A voice he didn’t recognize fused from the computer :
-Member N°2. Batman. You’ve reached the League headquarters, how can I be of service ?
With an hesitant and small voice, Dick says :
-Hum...Can I...talk to...Superman ?
-Member n°2. Batman. You asked to talk to Superman. Getting you through...now.
There were a few agonizing minutes where Dick thought Superman wouldn’t pick up but...Finally, his face appeared on the computer. He seemed a bit panicky, and when he noticed Dick in front of him, seemed to get even more panicked :
-Dick ? What is happening ? Are you ok ? Is Batman ok ? What is the danger ?!
Dick took a big breath to give himself courage and said, more determined than ever :
-No, I am not ok. And Batman definitely isn’t either. And the danger...it’s his dumb self being too dumb to realize he’s taking a dumb decision !
To be continue...
__________________________________________
I wrote this in a surge of inspiration. It’s very late, I’m tired, and it’s pretty bad.
I didn’t write anything in almost three weeks (it’s easy to guess, I’m a bit rusty and this story is...b.a.d, especially the end of this part), so of course when I get back at it it’s an awfully long story...Anyway, this is why I cut that story in half. I know writing long ass one shots is my style, but that one really was too long :-).
See y’all soon for part two, hoped you liked it and that it didn't disappoint you after my “long” absence.

Nightingale (Gabriel Reyes/Reaper x Reader)
Requested; Nope.
Prompt; You’re Bruce Wayne’s sister who joined Overwatch but now back.
Relationships; Bruce Wayne/Batman x Sister! Reader, Batkids x Auntie! Reader, Gabriel Reyes/Reaper x Reader, Jesse McCree x Mother figure! Reader, Genji Shimada x Mother figure! Reader.
Word Count; 4184
A/N; So I’ve been wanting to write stories/one-shots for a couple games I play (Assassin’s Creed and Overwatch). So I thought I’d trial it and combine it with DC at first then drift of on to doing them separately. I’ll still be writing DC things don’t worry. So enjoy!
~~~
(Y/N)'s POV
"(Y/N) stop! I told you in confidence that you wouldn't blow up!" Jack yelled after me as I stormed through the corridors of the Overwatch base,
"I don't care! How else would you expect me to react when you tell me something like that?!" I yelled,
"Hey Mom-Captain" Jesse corrected as he noticed the mood I was in,
"Where's Gabriel?" I asked,
"He said something about Doctor Ziegler" Genji replied, I growled as made my way towards the medical wing,
"God dammit. (Y/N)!" Jack yelled as the three of them followed me, I entered the medical wing and was met with the evidence of what Jack had told me,
"You mother-fucker" I growled announcing my presence making Gabriel push Angela away from him,
"(Y/N), it's not what it looks like" Gabriel attempted as Jack, Jesse and Genji appeared behind me,
"Not what it looks like?! Do you think I'm blind and dumb?! You were clearly making out with this whore!" I yelled, his face turned dark as he mumbled something, "What?" I asked,
"Apologise" He repeated in a demanding tone, I glared at him
"You can go to hell" I spat as I went to leave but he grabbed my wrist making quickly react by punching him across the face then knocking him onto his back where I climbed on top and punched him repeatedly,
"(Y/N) enough!" Jack demanded as he pulled me off and restrained me, Moira had appeared within the commotion and stood in front of me,
"(Y/N) relax. This could cause some undesirable side effects" she said,
"Get off me!" I demanded pulling myself from Jack's hold, I glared down at Gabriel as Angela crouched down to him, my chest rising up and down, "I quit Blackwatch" I spat at him as I ripped the totem from my neck and threw it to the floor then turned to Jack, "And I quit Overwatch" I asserted before leaving.
***
I arrived outside the Manor and sighed, it's been over 20 years since I was here, I opened the front door and walked in, I was greeted by silence making me raise an eyebrow as I approached the bottom of the stairs, I quickly turned around and caught a kitchen knife that was thrown at me, I looked in the direction it came from to see a young boy stood at the kitchen with his mouth slightly agape,
"She caught it" he commented,
"Who's she? The cats mother?" I retort before another three males along with three females came from the kitchen,
"Who are you?" the tallest male asked, I raised an eyebrow
"I should be asking you that" I comment,
"Oh god" the third tallest male mumbled as he pinched the bridge of his nose,
"What Drake?" The youngest asked,
"You just threw a knife at Auntie (Y/N)" 'Drake' stated, my eyes widened
"Aunt?!" The others exclaimed before Bruce and Alfred entered the Manor, both of them freezing as they noticed me,
"Miss Wayne?" Alfred muttered,
"Father! Why didn't you tell us we had an Aunt?" The youngest asked,
"I didn't think it would information you'd be interested in" Bruce answered, I rolled my eyes
"I wouldn't be surprise if he forgot me within the 'playboy' and Batman training" I comment making all their eyes widen,
"You know? How'd you know you haven't been here for 20 years!" Bruce snapped coming over to me, I narrowed my eyes at him,
"Did you think I'd leave my little brother without keeping tabs on him? Plus it was a little convenient that Nightingale left Gotham and Batman replaced her" I mused, he grunted and turned towards the children,
"Everyone meet (Y/N) Wayne, my older sister. (Y/N), this is Dick Grayson, Barbara Gordon, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, Cassandra Cain and Damian Wayne" Bruce introduced,
"Wait you're Nightingale?!" Steph exclaimed, I hummed
"Hello Bat. Bat-family" A female greeted as she entered the door and froze upon seeing me, "Who's she?" She asked looking me up and down, I raised an eyebrow at her,
"Selina-"
"(Y/N) Wayne. Bruce's big sister" I introduced extending my hand to her,
"Selina Kyle. Bruce's Fiancé" she introduced shaking my hand, I tightened my grip making her wince,
"Look at me like that again sweetheart and I'll have to remove your eyes and feed them to you. Understood?" I hissed in her ear, she nodded so I let go and stood back,
"Master Wayne, I believe it'd be wise to start getting ready for the charity Gala" Alfred piped up.
***
"Mister Wayne over here!"
"Miss Kyle!" The paparazzi yelled as they spammed Bruce and Selina as my car pulled up to the carpet, the door was opened and I climbed out,
"Miss Wayne!" The paparazzi yelled as they ignored the other 'celebrities' and hounded me, I gave a couple of poses before entering the event,
"Miss Wayne, I wasn't expecting you here tonight" The Mayor said,
"Well you know me, I love to be a surprise" I replied, he hummed before disappearing, I sighed as I removed a champagne glass from a waiters tray and entered the room more.
***
I shut the car engine off as I came to a stop in the garage and answered my phone,
"Hello?"
"Mom?" Jesse's voice asked from the other side,
"Jesse? What's wrong?" I asked as I got out of the car heading upstairs to my room,
"It's Gabe. He's dead. Him and Jack alongside other members were blown up in the Swiss base" he informed, I froze in my steps at my bedroom door becoming speechless, "Mom? Are you there still?" He asked, I hummed not relying on my voice to not break, "Their funerals are at the end of this week" he said,
"Right...I'll be there tomorrow..." I trailed off,
"See you later Mom" he said before hanging up, the grip on my phone tightened before I launched it at a wall letting out an agonising scream, I began throwing things around my room as tears flowed from my eyes then I collapsed on to my knees and sobbed, there was a light knock on my door,
"Leave me alone" I mumbled, whoever it was made their way over to me and crouch down next to me, I glanced to my side to see Selina, concern was etched into every feature in her face,
"I know we're not the best of friends but I couldn't ignore that scream and the state you're in" she commented, I turned my head in her direction,
"It'd be safer if you did" I replied, she sighed and sat cross-legged
"You and Bruce think you can handle everything by yourselves. You're human. You're allowed to have emotions. You're allowed to ask for help" she stated, I looked around my trashed room and sighed, "So can you tell me what happened?" She asked,
"A young man I've come to see as my own son just called informing me that my ex-partner, of ten plus years, and my close friend had been killed in an explosion" I said, her face saddened as she motioned me into her arms,
"I'm not much of a hugger" she commented as she pulled me into her arms,
"Neither am I" I replied making her chuckled,
"You still loved him, didn't you?" She asked,
"I'd hope not after he cheated on me but feelings like that can't disappear within a couple months" I commented.
***
It was after the funeral services and everyone was giving their regards to me, as Jesse and Genji stood at my sides, holding my hands as comfort,
"What you gonna do now, Mom?" Jesse asked as the main crowd had disappeared,
"Return to Gotham, return to my life before Overwatch" I say, Easier said than done since I'd been at Overwatch from 18 to 42
"Mother?" Genji asked pulling me from my thoughts,
"Sorry, what?" I asked,
"Would you mind if McCree and myself join you?" He asked, I raised an eyebrow
"Why?" I questioned,
"Just to make sure you're alright. We'll be on our ways after a month or two" Jesse answered, I gave them a small smile and nodded
"I'd appreciate that boys. Thank you" I say.
***
"You're doing it again" Jesse whispered gaining my attention, I raised an eyebrow
"Doing what?" I asked,
"Searching the room for enemies. Like you'd do when we were on an uncover mission" Genji replied, I sighed looking around the room again, my breathe caught in the back of my throat as I saw Gabriel,
"Mom? What's wrong?" Jesse asked, I shook my head
"Nothing. I thought I saw someone" I replied, they both eyed me with suspicion, "Anyway you don't need to stand with me. Go enjoy yourselves" I say, they both reluctantly left me, I raised an eyebrow as the security were having problems with their ear pieces,
"Ladies and Gentleman could I have your attention please" the Mayor called out, I approached the podium, "As you all know tonight's event was organised by the one and only Bruce Wayne. So I'll pass this over to him" He said and left the podium as Bruce made his way up to the middle,
"Well as a first I'd like to thank you all for coming. Second, tonight's event may have been organised by myself but it was actually Tim's idea. Tim why don't you come up and explain what and why we're all gathered here" Bruce said as he mentioned Tim to the podium.
Tim did and Bruce stood back as Tim cleared his throat, I looked over the crowd once more but caught a glimpse of a red light, I looked towards Tim who had a red dot on his chest, my eyes widened as I ran towards him and tackled him to the ground as a bullet flew past, I looked back up through the window to see a figure retreating on an opposite rooftop, I got up and began pushing my way through the panicking crowd,
"Mom!" I heard Jesse yell, I got outside and removed the skirt part of my dress, revealing my Nightingale suit and ran in the direction of the sniper, I clambered up to the rooftop and chased them, I jumped into cover behind a chimney as the sniper turned to shoot at me, I heard an aircraft engine making my eyes widen as a Talon aircraft hovered for the Sniper to climb in, I got out of the cover and my eyes widened
"Amelie" I muttered as she glared down at me as they flew away,
"Mother!" Genji yelled as he and Jesse ran up to me,
"Come on" I demanded as we may our way back to the event where Bruce and the others were waiting in front of the limousine, we all piled in the limousine and was driven home.
"What was that about (Y/N)?" Bruce asked,
"What have been searching?" I asked Tim,
"Bruce wanted to know what you were doing within the years you left" he answered,
"What exactly did you look into?" I interrogated,
"Blackwatch" he answered, all three of us tensed up, I glared at Bruce
"Do you understand the danger you've put him in?! There's a reason why I didn't tell you anything! But you couldn't keep your nose out!" I yelled shoving him,
"How was I supposed to know? You randomly disappear then reappear 20 years later!" He snapped,
"My skills were noticed by the Government! They wanted me in Overwatch! Then we made a behind closed doors organisation called Blackwatch!" I yell before backing away towards Genji and Jesse, running a hand through my hair,
"Your skills? You mean your killing?" He scoffed, I stopped and glared at him,
"What did you say?" I growled as I turned to him,
"You heard exactly what I said. You're no better than the man who murdered our parents" he retorted, I let out a yell as I tackled him to the floor punching him in the face, he kicked me off and stood up, I stood up, he charged at me picking me up and slamming my back against the floor, I grunted before getting him in a headlock and flipping over him,
"You better not move Bruce, unless you want to join our parents that is" I hissed,
"Mom let go" Jesse said as he and Genji pulled at me, I sighed and let go of Bruce and allowed them to lead me away.
***
I jumped down from a roof and landed on a police vans roof making the police jump,
"Nightingale. It's been awhile" Gordon said as I jumped down in front of him,
"Jim I'm going to need you to evacuate the city" I demanded as I heard the omnics getting closer,
"Why?! What exactly are we up against here?" He asked,
"War machines that have their own mind. They'll kill any human in sight" I say before my eyes widened "Get down!" I ordered as I pulled him down as some bastion's began firing at us, I growled as I slid over the car bonnet and ran towards the machines shooting my mini-guns at them before throwing a grenade at them before returning to Jim,
"Alright everyone listen up! I'm going to need everyone to be quick and evacuate the whole city. Be aware of them machines!" He ordered, they all began rushing, I gave him a nod,
"You best get out of here before more come" I informed he nodded
"Good luck...(Y/N)" he said making my eyes widened as I removed my eye mask, he climbed into his car and drove off.
***
Gabriel's POV
"Hey Gabe. I think you might want to see this" Sombra commented as she pulled up a screen in front of me,
"This is ex-Blackwatch Captain (Y/N) Wayne requesting for any remaining Overwatch members to come to Gotham-Shit!" (Y/N) exclaimed as she took cover behind a wall sending the camera away from her as bullets flew by, "Omnics are attacking! I've set the city on an evacuation and I'm going to hold them off the best I can! However I don't think I can do it forever!" She yelled before the video cut out making my eyes widen,
"So what's the plan?" She asked raising an eyebrow,
"I'm going to Gotham" I informed standing up and going to leave,
"Alone?" She asked,
"Yes. You heard her; Ex-Overwatch members. That includes us dead ones" I replied, she hummed
"Well I may not be an ex-Overwatch member but I do want to stop the omnics" she said, I sighed
"Gabriel. Have you seen?! (Y/N)'s in trouble. We need to go!" Moira yelled as she appeared next to me,
"Go where?" Amelie asked as she approached us with Akande,
"To Gotham. The Omnics are attacking" Sombra answered, Akande hummed as he eyed me suspiciously
"This could be the beginning of a second omnic war" Moira added gaining Akande's attention,
"I'll join" Amelie stated, Akande nodded
"Let's go" Akande demanded as we made our way to the air crafts.
***
(Y/N)'s POV "Shit!" I exclaimed as I momentarily shielded my face from the flames as the car exploded, the shockwave sending me on to my back, I groaned as the robots began to close in, "Maybe if I lie still enough they'll think I'm dead and leave me the fuck alone!" I mused,
"Mom!" I heard someone yell before a young woman appeared next to me,
"Hola" she greeted before grabbing a hold of me and throwing something before we teleported, she sat me against an armoured police truck as a group approached us, I scoffed rolling my eyes
"My video call was for ex-Overwatch members. Not Talon" I sneer glaring at them,
"So you don't want healing then?" Moira asked, I raised an eyebrow
"What do you think?" I asked as I forced myself to stand,
"Sombra, Widow let's keep these bots off Moira while she tends to her wounds" Doomfist ordered, they both nodded before they disappeared,
"Just like the old days" Moira commented as she healed me, I grunted in response as I eyed Reaper,
"Perhaps you'd like to say something instead of staring" he snapped, Moira finished with me so I squared up to him,
"Take it off" I demanded narrowing my eyes at him, he remained silent, "Are you deaf? Remove the mask. I want to confirm my suspicions" I growled, he still remained silent making me sigh, "Fine be a stubborn arsehole" I stated,
"(Y/N) take this" Moira said holding out my totem, I tilted my head as I took it from her hands and put it on, "I may have made a couple of adjustments to it" she said giving me a small smile, I hummed,
"Let's dispose of these bots" I ordered as I reloaded my mini-guns, I noticed some ex-Overwatch members had arrived, "Unless you're too afraid to fight alongside the people you once called friends" I commented before joining the fight.
***
The number of bots were decreasing but not as fast as I would like, I heard a yell of pain gaining my attention as Mercy fell to the ground as a group of bots surrounded her, I quickly touched my totem and flew over to her using the wind, I landed in front of her as they took aim before I threw my hands up creating a rock wall in front of us, I turned to her and held out my hand, she took it and helped her up,
"You saved me. Why?" She asked, I raised an eyebrow, "After everything I've done to you why did you save me?" She repeated, I rolled my eyes
"I don't hold grudges on the battlefield" I answered turning away from her, "Now prepare yourself to escape" I ordered as I raised my hands and the rock wall began shaking violently before exploding outwards taking out some of the bots.
Gabriel's POV
(Y/N) and Mercy flew up into the air unharmed,
"We're being overpowered easily!" McCree stated,
"We need (Y/N) to loose her shit!" Moira yelled making me raise an eyebrow
"Why?!" I asked,
"Just trust me. You need to piss her off big time" She demeaned, I sighed and nodded
"Everyone retreat!" Morrison ordered.
(Y/N)'s POV
"Everyone retreat!" Soldier 76 ordered making me raise an eyebrow and flew down to him,
"And why are you retreating?" I asked,
"We'll have an advantage further down the street" he answered, I hummed looking down the street they were all going,
"If you go a block and a half down you'll be best there" I informed, he nodded, "You best get on your way and prepare yourselves I'll hold them here" I ordered,
"I'm staying" Jesse and Genji asserted in unison,
"As am I" Reaper informed, Moira grumbled something,
"You will need someone to watch your backs" She commented, Soldier 76 nodded and joined the retreat,
"I don't want another Venice incident" Reaper growled making my eyes widened, "Does that confirm your suspicions Mi amor?" He mused, I growled before igniting myself in flames and flying up into the air, throwing fireballs at the machines,
Not another incident like Venice. Who the hell does he think he is?! He was the whole reason that-Wait! Venice...
"I've got a plan!" I announced landing next to them, extinguishing myself and putting up a rock wall to protect us,
"What's the plan then?" Genji asked,
"I'm going to pull a Venice incident" I answered,
"What?! No!" Jesse exclaimed,
"In order to do that you'd need a lot of rage" Moira commented,
"Believe me. I've got that covered" I retort side-eyeing Gabriel, to which he folded his arms, "Just stay behind this cover" I ordered before igniting myself again and flying over the wall.
***
I groaned as I opened my eyes, I slowly made my way to sitting up and hunch over holding my head
"What the hell happened?" I mumbled as I stood up, I observed my surroundings and raised an eyebrow, "Why the hell am I in the Cave's containment cell?" I grumbled as I approached the door and opened it making me hum and leave, I overheard mutters from the main area of the Cave so I made my way over, Bruce, Selina and the batkids were listening to Moira, Jesse, Genji and Gabriel,
"Mom!" Jesse yelled as he noticed me making my way over to them, he and Genji tackled me with a hug making me smile and return it, they pulled away when Gabriel cleared his throat, I narrowed my eyes at him,
"What happened to doing another Venice incident?" He questioned, I raised an eyebrow
"What do you mean? I did do, didn't I?" I replied, he shook his head
"Unbelievable she doesn't even know what happened?!" He exclaimed,
"Gabriel now is not the time to tell her. I need to run some tests-"
"You're not running any tests on me until you tell me what the hell happened!" I snapped cutting Moira off, she sighed
"Instead of repeating what you did in Venice you had a nuclear explosion, if it wasn't for the rock wall that you created the whole city and it's people would've been wiped out by it. And your totem absorbed itself into your skin" Moira explained my eyes widened as I went to reach for my totem only to find it not there,
"So you're telling me the totem is inside my body and I have all the abilities I had before?" I asked, she shrugged
"More than likely but if I coul-"
"You're not running any tests on her Moira" Gabriel stated cutting her off once more, "Head back to the others and tell them I'll make my own way back to the base" he ordered, she grumbled and left the Cave,
"And why are you staying behind?" I asked approaching him,
"Could we talk about this in private?" He grumbled,
"No what you can say to me can be heard by my family. Could've been our family" I retort, he sighed dropping his head,
"Wait this is the man you were with? The one that died?" Selina asked, I nodded
"(Y/N) listen-"
"No you listen here. She spent hours crying because of your death. You were together for years then you cheat on her! Then you have the nerve to fake your death!" Selina snapped cutting Gabriel off as Bruce held her back, "And now you think you can explain yourself?!" She continued,
"Thank you Selina" I say giving her a genuine smile, she stopped fighting against Bruce and stared at me, "As for you Gabriel. Follow me" I demanded as I lead him away from the others.
***
I sighed as I watched the joy on Bruce's face as he and Selina cut their wedding cake, everyone bursting into cheers, smiles and laughter as Selina smashed Bruce's face into the slice of cake, the wedding had gone off without a hitch to say that the criminal friends of Selina and the Justice league were in the same room obviously as their civilian identities,
"You okay, mi amor?" Gabriel asked as he appeared at my side, I rolled my eyes
"What have I said about calling me that? We're not together Gabriel" I retort, he sighed
"What do I have to do to be back with you?" He questioned, I turned to face him and raised an eyebrow before the doors burst open and the windows shattered as Talon soldiers came in and surrounded everyone,
"What the hell are they doing here?!" I growled to Gabriel as we were 'guided' to the other guests, he shrugged
"I don't know" he replied,
"(Y/N)" Bruce hissed as he grabbed my arm gaining my attention, I faced him and Selina,
"Who are these?" Bruce questioned,
"And why've they crashed my wedding?" Selina growled,
"Talon soldiers. Let Gabriel, Genji, Jesse and myself handle them. Just get everyone out" I ordered, Bruce grunted I'm agreement as Genji and Jesse approached us,
"Don't you dare ruin that dress" Selina warned, I held my hands up in defence,
"Genji, think you can slice a path for everyone to escape?" Gabriel asked,
"Of course I can" Genji scoffed as he withdrew his dagger from under his suit jacket as Jesse removed his pistol, and Gabriel removed another two pistols from his back holders, I crouched down and removed my heels,
"Now!" I ordered as I sent fire streams towards the soldiers on the right as Genji headed forwards, Jesse went left and Gabriel went behind,
"That's everyone out of the building" Genji informed as he returned before Jesse let out a yell of pain catching my attention,
"Jesse's injured!" I commented as I ran over to him,
"This place is going to blow!" Gabriel yelled making my eyes widened as I picked Jesse up and leant most of his body weight on to me,
"Keep us covered!" I ordered as I made my way outside where everyone was waiting, Alfred came over with a medical kit as I set Jesse on the floor, I turned towards the building as Genji was coming out, he came over to me, "Where's Gabriel?" I asked,
"He said he was right behind me" Genji said, my eyes widened as I ran towards the entrance before I thrown backwards due to the explosion of the building, I went to get up to my feet but Bruce and Selina held me back so I was on my knees, tears pooling out of my eyes as I stared at the destroyed building that was burning,
"Gabriel!" I screamed, it fell silent as everyone looked at me, Gabriel stumbled out of the entrance making me sigh in relief as I pulled from Bruce and Selina's grip and ran over to him, jumping into his arms, he grunted but caught me and squeezed me,
"What was that screaming for, mi amor?" He asked as we pulled away,
"I lost you once before I don't want that again" I confessed, he smiled before he pulled me closer crashing his lips on to mine which I immediately returned wrapping my arms around his neck, closing whatever space there was between us.
dc heroes highschool au
so i was thinking about this and its my new baby but its really long so im putting part of it under a read more
theres a martial arts class at their school that bruce teaches bc he’s lonely and we all know he doesn’t have a real job
clark is the lunch lady who reminds kids to eat their vegetables
everything made in the caf is grown in the school garden that he has and he shames kids into not picking the unhealthy foods
bruce is smashing the lunch lady aka clark n he thinks no one knows but really the whole school gossips about how rich dude/part time gym teacher bruce wayne is banging sweet lunch lady clark
donna is captain of the wrestling team
she’s really good and everyone on the wrestling team aspires to be her and everyone on the rival school’s (arkham academy) team wants to beat her
kory was an exchange student during her freshman year and eventually decides to stay. she’s cheer captain but also known for arguing for equality and stages like school walkouts and things and no one ever challenges her bc she’s tall and buff and her gf is the captain of the wrestling team
wally runs track and field
wally is iris's nephew and barry and iris met at a track meet when iris came to pick him up and he was like hey wally what's ur aunt's number? and wally was like ‘sorry coach barry my aunt isn’t looking rn’ bc he thought it’d be weird if his coach dated his aunt but barry shoots his shot anyways and now barry and iris are engaged
also wally is a senior n bart is a freshman so when barry makes bart co-captain wally is like what the fuck is the point of you being engaged to my aunt if i dont get nepotism?????? n barry's like wally he's ur cousin and wally's like not if he steals my scholarships and they fight a lot but they l*ve each other
roy is president of the archery club with his sorta sister artemis crock and jason is a lit nerd who roy flirts with but jason just thinks he wants homework so he ignores him
roy struggles with being a good dad while also fighting his addiction and work part time to try and save up for college after ollie kicked him out all on top of being a senior in high school
artemis is good friends w mia and conner bc first they were in the archery club together and then she joins the family after jade has lian and she’s like i’m sorry jade is vicious and tries to help out with lian as much as possible and mia and conner respect that
artemis is a really good aunt, she loves lian so much and spends all of her pocket money on taking her niece places. she ditches school to get slurpees w her girlfriends zatanna and m’gann. m’gann helps her study for her classes and with her homework. both make sure she stays in school cause artemis almost flunks out at one point bc of family stuff. also artemis is in lit club bc Z is in it and she supports her
jason lives in an apartment and he makes bruce pay for it as reparations for being a bad dad. but he also works bc he’ll be damned if he has to live off of bruce’s money permanently and eventually starts paying for his own bills and stuff
dick is captain of the gymnastics team and he’s really good. he’s the best in the region and has only ever lost a meet once (which was nationals, he came 2nd place)
tiger, dick, and helena went to summer camp together. tiger doesn’t go to their school, he goes to a gotham boarding school and dick sneaks into his room at night to hang out/make out and tiger comes to dick’s meets and helena tags along
also wally has a big crush on dick and he has since they were kids and dick liked him too. but wally thought dick wasn’t interested so he never went for it and then dick being dick just moved on and now wally just pines after him and it’s sad :/
damian is a snot nose 9 year old kid who hangs around the gymnastic team’s practices to hang out with his big bro and he sneers at the team and says he could do it better (which he can)
the summer before jason’s sophomore year he disappears after an incident and no one knows what happened to him but afterwards bruce sends him to boarding school to correct his behavior (which is where he meets amazon artemis and bizarro) until jason says fuck this and comes back junior year and everyone spread rumors that he like died while he was gone bc no one ever saw him so when he returned everyone was like :O and dick is really excited he’s back but jason is pissed at him bc he didn’t like support jason in fighting w bruce to let him stay
jason has bruce’s number blocked for the drama of it and bruce refuses to think his son blocked him so he's like "oh his phone must be off he's so busy love that guy (:" and no one has the heart to tell him. the rare times he does answer the phone when bruce calls, he recites a monologue and hangs up. he’s also president of drama club and also of literature club
jason recites historic and iconic monologues and soliloquies (bc he has them memorized for certain situations) except he just sprinkles curse words in
jason’s english teacher is about to fucking quit their job bc jason always tries to teach the class
cass is the best student in bruce’s class and also his daughter and she’s fairly quiet and hangs out mostly with her brothers. people like don’t really know who she is other than like hey that’s the kick ass dancer on helena’s dance team or oh! that’s the girl who kicked my ass sparring in Mr. Wayne’s class. she meets steph in one of bruce’s classes and she’s like wild and outgoing and funny and cass has a really big crush on her but she doesn’t think steph feels the same way (she does though) also steph can drive and she’s always taking cass on these really fun adventures but bruce doesn’t approve of steph so cass like sneaks out to go hang out with steph but bruce never knows bc he thinks she’s the perfect daughter and like steph brings cass out of her shell. she’s also on the gymnastics team with dick and is the second highest placing athlete on the team.
my boy duke thomas and his parents were good friends of bruce right so when during the summer before his freshman year his parents die in a freak car accident bruce takes him in. he’s a sophomore now and he’s still adjusting to life with bruce and he thinks his new siblings are kinda weird but cool. he’s also really focused on making sure his grades are immaculate so that he can get into his dream school and make his parents proud. he is in the school band and he’s really great and tim is also in band bc bruce made him but he’s not as good as duke
jason met duke at a family dinner he was forced to go to and thinks he’s cool unlike his other loser brother and makes him join literature club
tim drake is a freshmen and gets shoved into lockers. his only friends are kon, bart, and cassie. he joined the coding club bc he thinks babs is extra cool and wants to be like her
jason is the one shoving him in the locker and tim’s like what the fuck you’re the nerd here and jason’s like funny isn’t it and then closes the locker
bart hangs out with tim and kon and cassie. except cassie is cool from being on the wrestling team and being donna’s cousin so she’s always really busy but she tries to make time for them. wally shoves him into lockers sometimes and kon has to get them both out.
kon is in his rebellious teen phase where he's like fuck u dad i don’t wanna be a farmer but its justified bc kon is techinically an illegitimate child from a previous relationship and clark is kind of a dick to him bc he treats Jon better than Kon
helena and dinah make out under the school bleachers before helena has dance practice and when helena has to go dinah smacks her ass and says knock em dead babe
helena originally took mr. wayne's martial arts class because she needed PE credit but now she kinda likes it. the whole time she’s there she objects to bruce's passive approach to fighting
bruce: fight to disarm or incapacitate ur partner helena: thats dumb, fight to kill ur partner
bruce wayne voice: helena this is a PE class please stop trying to murder your partners
kate kane subs for bruce sometimes but she supports helena's kill ur partner attitude so they don’t hire her very often
helena is captain of the dance team and they perform at all school rallies and football games and shes really hard on her team mates but only bc she wants them to be their best and babs & dinah make her music mixes for performances bc they love her
babs is president of the coding club and even though she’s a nerd everyone respects her. her and dick went on a date once and then when he kissed her good night she realized she was a lesbian. they’re still buddies though. she dated dinah for awhile but they decided they were better as friends. helena and babs became friends in the martial arts class and babs introduced helena and dinah and the three have been bffs ever since.
Take a hint
Reader Imagine. You round up your bat sisters to hang out and the boys obviously cause trouble so the three of you decide to teach them a lesson. Jason x Reader. Dick x Barbara. Tim x Stephanie. Enjoy!!
“ Look out!” You screamed as you watched in horror as the bag of chips almost decapitated your friend. Barbara quickly jumped out of the way, then ran to help you alongside Steph as she saw you sprawled out on the floor, surrounded by smushed bags of junk food. “Oh my god what happened Y/N?!!” It all started when you had decided to round up your fellow bat sisters at the manor for old times sake. Unfortunately Cass had to cancel as the new development in her mission led her to Croatia, so it was just you, Steph, and Babs. You guys had been having the time of your life in your old bedroom, blasting throwback songs and rapidly depleting the manor’s food supply. Being the backbone of the family, you took upon the task of sprinting downstairs to gather some more nourishment, before sprinting back upto your besties. When you turned the corner towards your room, you could hear that Hips Don’t Lie was currently playing from the speakers so you made a mad dash to get there as quickly as possible which led to you slamming the door open in an aggressive rage, tripping, all the food in your arms going up in slow motion, and a bag of doritos almost smacking your redheaded friend in the face. The two of them hauled you up and then you picked up all the food. “Ha sorry about crushing our carby dreams, just had to show y’all my hips didn’t lie.” you grinned sheepishly. “All good sis” Steph replied pulling you guys into a bear hug- “besides me and Barb know you’ve got the most truthful hips of all”. Snicker. “Your girlfriends are nutcases.” Smack “Shut up Damian, they can hear us.”
“ Um what was that.” you asked raising up your eyebrow. “Seems to me we’ve got some lurkers outside.” Barbara smirked, raising her voice so the idiots could hear. “See Damian, look what you did.” the unmistakable voice of Tim could be heard. “Oh zip it Drake” Damian snapped back. More muffled arguing. “That’s it.” you exclaimed, marching over to the door and swinging it open- Babs and Steph right behind you. “ What do you guys think your doing?” you inquired, hands on your hips, and putting on a death glare to scare them.  The shook faces of Jason, Dick, Tim, and Damian looked back at you. “ Oh hey Y/N what do you mean?, we were just walking by.” Dick nervously chuckled. Oh my god. That boy is the worst liar on the face of the planet. “Dick how dumb do you think we are?” Barbara struck back. Dick immediately got all flustered-“ Oh what no, no sorry Babs, guys, I didn’- I don’t think your dumb. Sorry babe.” he said, his eyes pleading to Babs, hoping his girlfriend wouldn’t get mad at him. The boys were looking really uncomfortable right now and it took so much for the three of you to not burst out in laughter. You looked to your boyfriend, Jason, who hadn’t said anything yet. “So Jay, wanna volunteer another half-ass excuse as to why you and the other boy blunders were cutting in on our girl time?” Jason realized there was no way he was gonna get out of this one, so he tried to play it cool, putting on his signature smirk. “ Y/N sorry bout that.. it’s all Damian’s fault.” “SERIOUSLY?!?!” Dami yelled back. “Ok enough!” Stephanie broke in. “Do you people see this sign??!- your blonde haired friend gestured to the piece of paper on the door. NO BOYS ALLOWED( TRESPASSERS AND LURKERS WILL BE THROWN OFF OF WAYNE TOWER) “ So do ya see it, do ya Tim?!” she glared at the teen boy. “Yeah Steph- Tim mumbled meekly, blushing madly. “Seriously guys come on.” Babs scolded then looked at Dick “Don’t expect any fun time for the next two weeks.” “But babe..!” Dick whined. “Shut it Grayson.” “Same goes for you Red.” you told Jason. “Aw come on doll, lets not get too serious.” your boyfriend tried to win you over. You just glared at him. “Now it’s three weeks.” “Ha” Damian smirked, clearly enjoying himself, watching his older brothers suffer. Stephanie continued “And Tim- OH MY GOD I LOVE THIS SONG!!” You tuned in to the music that was still blasting and realized what song it was. “Guys OMG Guys!! It’s our song. Yaassss!!” you shrieked looking excitedly at the two girls. “Guys do we still remember our parts?” Barbara quickly asked. “Yes!!” you and Steph screamed in unison. The boys were just glancing at each other like what the hell is going on. Babs spoke” Ok guys. 1,2,3!”
“La la la la la la” the three of you sang skipping around each other. “Why I’m always hit on by the boys I never like? I can always see em coming from the left and from the right.” you sang. “ I don’t wanna be a priss I’m just tryna be polite but it always seems to bite me in the..” Babs continued. “Ask me for my number yeah you put me on the spot. You think that we should hook up but I think that we should not.” Steph sang twirling around you. You broke away from the two of them and walked a bit in front looking at Jason, and sang “You had me at hello, then you opened up your mouth.” “And that is when it started going south!” the three of you harmonized. Jason just stood there with his mouth open and Tim and Damian were laughing at him. All of you started the chorus. “ Get your hands off my hips before I punch you in the lips. Stop your staring at my HEY! Take a hint.” “Take a hint!” you vocalized. Now it was Barbara’s turn to look at Dick while singing “No you can’t buy me a drink.” Dick stood there uncomfortable af and at this point, all of the batboys were too shook to mock him. “Let me tell you what I think” Steph got closer to Tim. “I think you could use a mint” “Take a hint! Take a hint!” Tim went beet red and breathed in his hand. Your turn again. “I guess you still don’t get it so let’s take it from the top.” “You asked me what my sign is and I told you it was stop.” Stephanie cut in. “ And if I had a dime for every name that you just dropped.” Barbara sang. “ YOU’D BE HERE AND I’D BE ON A YACHT! OH!” you guys sang jumping on the couch. “Get your hands of my hips fore I punch you in the lips” you burst out pointing at Jay. “ Stop your starin at my hey! Take a hint! Take a hint!” Babs glared at Dick. “ No you can’t buy me a drink, lemme tell you what I think!”   “ I think you could use a mint take a hint. Take a hint!” all of you sang at the boys. The three of you spun around each other. “Take a hint! Take a hint! You sauntered over to Jason- “What about no don’t you get?”, bopping his nose. Babs went over to her Dick, tracing her finger around his chest. “So go and tell your friends.” Stephanie leaned in towards Tim then playfully shoved him back. “I’m not really interested.” You led the girls and marched away from you boyfriends before spinning around to face them. “It’s about time that your leaving.” you sang pointing to the door. “ I’m gonna count to three and” Stephanie sassed. “Open my eyes and you’ll be gooneee.” Babs joined in. With you in the middle, the three of you skipped over to the coffee table and you jumped on it. “One.” Stephanie warned. “Get your hands off my hips!” you sang stepping closer to the boys on the table. “Two.” Barbara followed. “Or I’ll punch you in the!” you went on. “Three!” Steph yelled. “Stop your staring at my hey! Take a hint! Take a hint!” you finished, twirling once before leaping of the table to join your friends. The three of you skipped around the room, holding hands, dancing, and twirling around the boys as you went through the last chorus together, belting out the words. “ I am not your missing link! Let me tell you what I think!I think you could use a mint, take a hint! Take a hint! WOOAAAHHHH! Get your hands off my hips, fore I punch you in the lips! Stop your staring at my HEY! Take a hint!” Y’all sauntered to the boys, pushing them towards the door while finishing. “La la la la la Take a hint! La la la la la!”- you slamming the door in their faces and locking it on the last note. “Yeah!” Steph yelled, high fiving the both of you. “Omg did you see their faces?!” Babs gushed. “ I swear Tim was about to faint and Dick and Jason are probably thinking we’re gonna break up with them.” you laughed. “Ha! Guys are so gullible. We totally owned them!” “Yeah fuck the patriarchy!” Steph exclaimed. “Guys we totally need to play Cellblock Tango now!!” you shrieked. “It was a murder but not a crime!” Barbara screamed.
All in all, the rest of the day was amazing. The three of you had a great time and you were so happy you got the chance to hang out with your sisters again. Of course establishing the fact that girls are vastly superior and showing your boyfriends’ who’s boss was yet another fun achievement to add to the day. As for the boys, the rest of the day went slightly different. After they had gotten kicked out of the room, Damian made an ill-timed joke about Jason which resulting in the vigilante throwing him over the staircase. Don’t worry, the little brat’s fine.( Jason’s words.) Dick raced up to his room, freaking out, and made a list of all the times he might’ve pissed off Barbara, making sure that she wouldn’t have a reason to break up with him. Just to be safe, he also ran to buy her flowers. Jason got a whole lecture from Bruce about how throwing your siblings over staircases is not the way to go when you need to vent. After that, Jason also started freaking out about Y/N. His way of an apology was to let you paint one of his helmets pink and that he’d have to wear it for a week of patrol. Tim probably took it the worst. That poor boy wrote Stephanie a letter telling her she was the best girlfriend ever and that he is sorry for leaving the toilet seat up that one time (The only thing Tim ever did wrong in their relationship, cuz lets be honest that boy’s a pure angel.) He even bought her a new waffle maker.
All three of them also embarrassedly went to the store to stock up on mints.
Acrobat’s Sister [Jason Todd x Reader]
Requested by anon: “Could you do one where reader is dick's sister but didn't get adopted by Bruce when dick did and they are reunited when Jason introduces her to the rest of the batfam as his girlfriend”
A/N: I’m finally finishing off my requests! I actually started this yesterday but ended up zonking out before I could finish, so sorry for the lack of updates yesterday. I’m planning out my last few requests and hopefully will get them done. But I hope you all enjoy this my loves!
(Part 2 - Blessing)
________
Your life hasn't always been the greatest. You love being in the circus but after losing your parents everything just felt dark. Your parents and brother were the acrobat trio ‘The Flying Graysons.’ You on the other hand weren't one for acrobatics. Yes, your family taught you some techniques but you were always more interested in the animals. Especially the lions. And they in turn were quite fond of you.
It's not like you have a superpower with animals or anything, you're just good with them. So instead of training to be an acrobat, you became the youngest lion tamer in the circus world. The lions treated and still treat you as one of their own, thinking of you as superior even though lion prides don't really have a leader.
After losing your parents you became very withdrawn and what didn't help was when Dick was adopted after your parents funeral. It was a closed adoption meaning you have no idea where he went. Making you not only grieve your parents but your brother as well. He didn't call or write so it felt like he fell off that trapeze as too. Your last name didn't help much either, “Grayson” was well known in the circus world, whenever people heard your last name they immediately questioned you about the loss of your parents. Making the grieving process that much harder. Eventually you couldn't take anymore of that reminder and changed your last name, becoming [F/n] [L/n] instead of [F/n] Grayson. Not that you aren't proud of your heritage, it was just becoming emotionally and mentally unhealthy for you.
You always seemed to be in some sort of slump, even after it being so many years. Around 15 years since it all happened, Dick has to be 25 now. 14 years you had trouble being happy, but this last year, things changed.
You met Jason one year ago, he saved you as Red Hood from a gang that targeted the circus. They attacked during your act and Red Hood protected you as he and Arsenal took out the gang members. You actually ended up saving him as well, the lions thought he was a threat to you and one of them managed to claw him in the leg before you could calm them down.
Later the next day he came to you as Jason Todd and you recognized the wound. He used the excuse of a motorcycle accident but you’d know an injury like that anywhere. God knows you’ve had a few.
Jason came clean to you about a month into your relationship, knowing you’d already figured it out. You weren’t mad, in fact you found it cute. Just like how he was being now.
“Come on” he whined pulling you onto his lap. You giggled, “If we’re going to be on time for me to meet your family, you have to let me go shower.” Pecking his lips. His arms wrapped around your waist tighter, “We can be late” digging his face in your neck.
You unwrapped his arms, “No we can’t, you know how I am about first impressions” turning to him once you were standing. He threw his head back groaning, head resting on the back of the couch. Laughing you walked around behind the couch and looked down at him, “You’re a child.” Playing with the ends of his hair. “But you love me” he grinned up at you. Pecking his lips you responded “That I do” before pulling away and going to get ready.
Jason watched as you went to the bathroom in his apartment. Once you were through the door he stood up and picked up his phone. Sliding out of the window, onto the fire escape. He pulled out his phone and dialed Alfred.
He listened to it ring until Alfred answered, “Hello Master Jason, of what do I owe the pleasure?”
“Hey Alfred, I was curious of how things are at the manor. I just want to make sure everything will be okay for tonight.” Jason asked, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
“Everything's been taken care of Master Jason. I have made the recipe you asked for and everything. No need to worry.”
“Alright, thanks Alfred we’ll be there in a few hours” Jason leaned against the railing of the fire escape. “My pleasure Master Jason, I look forward to meeting Miss [F/n].” Alfred said before hanging up the phone.
Coming back into the apartment he heard the shower turn off. Hearing that he decided he should get ready too so he’d be ready when you are.
It didn’t take long for the both of you to get ready and soon you were out the door. During the ride to the manor you began to feel a bit anxious, nervously shifting in your seat.
“You okay?” Jason asked while taking your hand. Letting out a deep breathe you ran your thumb over his knuckles, “Just a bit uneasy is all. Do you think they’ll like me?” You watched a grin grow on his face, he pulled your hand to his lips, kissing the back of it, “They’ll love you.” Feeling relief you relaxed in your seat, giving his hand a light squeeze.
Pulling into the manor Jason put the car in park. “You ready?” squeezing your hand. Nodding you opened your door as Jason opened his. He wrapped an arm around your waist as you both walked up to the door. After knocking an older man opened it, “Hello Master Jason, and you must be Miss [F/n]. A pleasure to meet you, I’m Alfred Pennyworth” he introduced himself. You shook his hand before the both of you came in. “It’s nice to meet you too Alfred, Jason has told me a lot about you.”
“All good things I hope” he chuckled. “There aren’t any bad things” Jason laughed, Alfred told you both that the others were in the living room. Jason showed you the way. Walking in you were overwhelmed by the number of people. “Hey everyone” Jason caught the attention of the room. They all smiled at you, “Guys this is my girlfriend [F/n]. [F/n] there’s Bruce my adoptive father. Then there’s the madhouse that are my siblings, Tim, Damian aka Demon Spawn, Cass, Stephanie, Barbara, and where’s Dickie?” Jason had pointed to each family member.
The one you learned was Barbara spoke up, “He’s running late but texted and said he’s five minutes away about five minutes ago. He’ll be here soon.”
When she finished Bruce stood up and walked over to you, “[F/n] it’s wonderful to meet you.” he held out his hand. You took it, “It’s an honor to meet you Mr. Wayne.” He smiled before saying “Please, ‘Bruce’ is fine.”
You grinned and nodded in understanding. Jason hadn’t left your side when your attention turned to his siblings once Damian spoke up, “Tt. How did Todd get a woman like you? Did Pennyworth put you up to this?” raising an eyebrow at you. You giggled as Jason sent him a death glare. “No, Jason is actually quite the gentleman.”
“Are you sure that’s the Jason you’re talking about?” Tim pointed at Jason as the others nodded, Bruce was laughing to himself. “Wow, thanks guys.” Jason rolled his eyes. “Aw, we’re just teasing. Lighten up.” Steph threw a pillow at him, which he caught with ease. He was about to throw it back when everyone heard the door open.
“Hey guys sorry I’m late. Traffic was a bit--” Dick began but stopped when he met your eyes. “Oh my god” you breathed out covering your mouth. You left Jason’s side and immediately threw your arms around your older brother, leaving everyone with shocked expressions.
“How did? What are you doing here?” He asked while hugging you back. “Me? You’re the one who disappeared” you pulled away to look at your now adult brother. “I know I’m sorry. I wanted Bruce to adopt us both but he said he could only adopt me.” Dick kept your eyes. “So that meant you couldn’t call or write? It’s been 15 years Dick. It felt like you fell off that trapeze too.”
“Okay! Hold on! What is going on here?” Jason interrupted the reunion, everyone equally confused. “[F/n]’s my little sister.” Dick answered walking away from you and up to him.
“You’re what?!” They all yelled. “You never told us you had a sister!” Steph yelled from her spot. Jason looked at you, “You said your brother abandoned you.” Dick felt a pang in his chest hearing Jason say that. He witnessed as Jason walked over to you, seeing you whisper “I did.”
“Wait, are you two?” Dick gestured between the both of you. You exchanged a look with Jay, “A couple, yes.” wrapping your arms around Jay’s waist. “You’re dating my sister?!” Dick asked, shocked. “In my defense I didn’t know you have a sister.” Jason countered, his arm wrapped around your back.
He went to say something more before letting himself relax. Allowing a smile on his face, “I’m happy for you.” Walking over, Dick put a hand on your shoulder, “Jay is a great guy and I trust him to protect you.”
You released Jay and hugged your brother, “Thank you Dick” hearing Jason say behind you. Letting him go you smiled at him before returning back to Jay placing a kiss on his cheek. As soon as you did so Alfred called for dinner.
You and Jason followed behind the group, your eyes widened when seeing your favorite meal beautifully prepared. Looking up at Jason you beamed “I seriously love you” hugging his waist tighter. He chuckled “Yeah I know, I love you too,” before pecking your lips. You giggled, not noticing the endearing smile on Dick’s face.
Dick really did want to stay in touch with you after leaving but becoming Robin would put you in danger. Little did he know you’d end up with the Red Hood himself, but he knows Jason will never let anything happen to you. Plus he can see the love you both share, he’s never seen Jason this happy. Hell, he’s never seen you this happy. In all this makes him happy too, seeing two people he loves joyful and in love. What more could an older brother ask for?
Here with You
A/N: Hi everyone! This is my first requested fluffy fic from @yeetthatpussy. Thank you so much for the idea! This was fun and a big change for me since all I do is write smut and nasty things hahaha. Also, I want to point out I did not give Bruce an age or the reader, since I believe readers should imagine Bruce and themselves the way they want. I personally imagine Bruce like how he was in the animated movie, “Justice League War” since I happened to be watching that particular movie a while ago (because some of you might imagine Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, or the new Robert Pattinson). So other than that enjoy the story!
@randomdcfangirl @jasonredtoddhood @lady-of-the-abyss @psychovigilantewrites Enjoy this my friends.
Warnings: Language and just pure pink, yummy fluffy cotton candy!
It became a habit; a tradition really, when Bruce and I would have free time to hang out. Every Friday night is our “friend date time”, the title came from Bruce, when he realized over the past two months that I’m the first female in his life who has remained by his side and hasn’t put up with his bullshit.
True, women have come and gone throughout his life, specifically Selina Kyle. I’m no stranger to her, since she has played a pretty big part in Bruce’s life. Although she was always civil to me, I admit, I couldn’t help but feel envious of her beauty and body.
I sometimes wonder why Bruce permanently let her go.
I consider myself average. Maybe not overly beautiful like supermodels, but I’ve been told by family and friends I’m awfully pretty, sweet, funny, and kind. I’m about average height, and I admit I do have feminine curves. But overall, I’ve learned to love myself, and I’ve also had my fair share of ex-boyfriends and dates.
But none of my relationships have lasted more than three months. Considering my anxiety and what my doctor has described as PTSD from the eight year mental and physical abuse from my alcoholic father and uncle, my past boyfriends left me because I’m a nutcase (they really didn’t know how to help me or understand my past and current issues). Let’s just say I’m too much to handle when I’m alone or in a too comfortable environment.
And my latest ex-boyfriend Josh (who was a sweetheart, but I broke up with him because I just couldn’t be in another relationship at that moment) has been hinting to get back together with me for some time. But after I realized I’m never going to be able to move on from my past, I accept the fact that I should be alone and stay alone.
Because at least I would never betray or hurt myself, I believe.
But here I am. I’m being escorted to our usual table at one of Bruce’s restaurants. The waiter smiles once we meet up with Bruce at our table.
Knowing Bruce for a few years has given me reason maybe some men aren’t so bad. The media and tabloids have always painted him as a man-whore and spoiled rich boy, but after witnessing the doofus trip over his own shoes at work, (I happened to be at Wayne Enterprises for an interview with him, as I am a journalist) I realized he was exactly like everyone else.
Clumsy, foolish, and funny.
Bruce stands to greet me, while looking extremely handsome in black suit. His hair is nicely combed, and his grin is his usual smirk. His blue eyes brighten the room from its golden décor.
“Y/N, you look beautiful,” Bruce compliments me, with a kiss to the cheek.
It’s true. I feel more confident tonight since I’m wearing my favorite short black Gucci dress. I decided to curl my hair a bit and wear little makeup since I try very hard to look more natural to love myself more.
“You’re not so bad yourself, Bruce,” I respond politely. I sit down, and he pushes my chair in. As he takes his seat, the waiter quickly brings our appetizers of loaded potato skins and mozzarella cheese sticks and marinara sauce. “Didn’t you want to stay home and order pizza and watch a movie?”
“We did that last week. I figured...why not treat my favorite girl to a fancy dinner so we can talk shit about the rich people around us while we pig out on our favorite food?” Bruce answers, and gives me a soft smile.
“I guess you have a point since food is always a way to win me over,” I chuckle and then raise an eyebrow at him. “Did you just say I’m your favorite girl?”
“Well, you are Y/N. I mean, you gave me a chance to show you the real me. You didn’t let the media and tabloids change your mind about me. You know me better than most people think they do. Hell, you’ve even been there for me during the anniversary of my parents’ deaths. You’ve even seen me in my darkest times, and not once did you leave me or try to change who I am,” Bruce confesses softly. It sounds as if he wants to continue on with his confession, but he stops himself. He ends up smirking at me. “Anyways, is Josh still bothering you so you can take him back?”
“No, I mean…I haven’t heard from him today. What about Selina?” I tease him back.
“I haven’t spoken to her in four months. But I guess I wouldn’t know if she’s called the manor considering you take up most of my time anyways. I swear, the more we hang out with each other, the more we become like a married couple.”
“A married couple?” I repeat.
“Yes, since we’re always together and you know me better than any other woman. Hell, I don’t think I even allow most women to know certain details about my parents’ deaths or my sons. I have to protect so much of my life, but with you, I just found out I want to protect you as well,” Bruce explains.
I’m stunned to hear this right now. Of course, I know about Bruce’s parents’ deaths. I even know about his sons: Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian, too.
The sweet, handsome charming Dick Grayson.
The tough, strong and huggable teddy bear man Jason Todd.
The smart, wise, and computer genius Tim Drake.
And of course, the small, mature, handsome Damian Wayne, Bruce’s miniature version of him.
I knew Dick, Jason, and Tim were Bruce’s adopted sons (and he loves and worries about them so much) and I’ve even come to love every one of them, especially Damian. Bruce had told me Damian’s mother had left him with Bruce, and even though Damian had been arrogant, rude, and sometimes defensive, he’s come to respect me and even likes me hanging around the manor as long as I don’t steal his father most of the time.
And being close to all of them, I see Bruce has made a wonderful family, and I envy almost everything about that.
I even know Alfred. He’s a one real son of a bitch who doesn’t put up with Bruce either.
But the way Bruce is speaking of me kindly is starting to freak me out. I was never one to receive compliments or kindness before.
I decide to change the subject quickly. We both serve ourselves our favorite appetizers and dig in.
“So, what are your sons doing tonight? Causing trouble or just lounging around the manor?” I ask, with a small smile.
But Bruce seems to not realize what I did; unless he’s hiding it.
“Dick is probably out with Barbara. And I believe Jason, Tim, and Damian are bothering Alfred for their usual nighttime snacks,” Bruce replies, and then exhales heavily. “Y/N...I-I really need to talk to you and I just need you to listen.”
“Bruce...” I warn him. My heart already aches because I’ve been keeping a secret of my own and I finally realize what frightens me.
Bruce.
Bruce terrifies me.
Why?
Because I’m in love with him.
My mind flashes back to the memories of when Bruce tripped, and how everyone chucked at the Prince of Gotham, and how I helped him with a small smile on my face, because he took my breath away with his natural charm and handsome good looks. And when he showed up at my apartment with pizza and horror movies because I was too sick to leave and go out into the chilly rainstorm.
Or how when my younger sister got married, Bruce offered to be my “date” since he knew I couldn’t find a date in time. But he also showered the bride and groom with gifts and surprised my sister and my new brother-in-law with an amazing already paid honeymoon to Paris and Italy for an entire week! The whole night we spent dancing together, my head rested against his chest, and then I suddenly felt my heart beating inhumanly fast and slow at the same time.
Bruce’s hands remained on me the entire night. Just him touching me made me feel I was dancing on clouds the entire night.
Just the thought of Bruce makes me want to faint and fall because these feelings are scaring the shit out of me.
“Please listen to me, Y/N. I need to tell you what’s been going on in my head lately, because I don’t know how much longer I can keep it to myself,” Bruce begins, appearing more nervous than before. The usual confidence and smile on his face is now replaced with his eyes pleading for me to listen to him and his body is tense. “I-I don’t think I can keep pretending to be your best friend anymore. I can’t keep acting like I just want to be your friend. I can’t stick around anymore and see you date assholes who don’t know the real beautiful, kind, funny girl, you really are. Just the thought of you dating them makes me want to beat the shit out of them and possibly drop them off on a deserted island forever...okay that last part was supposed to be a joke, but I guess my sense of humor is different than most. Maybe I’m not kidding at all...”
I can feel my stomach hurt from this stressful situation. Bruce sees me eyeing the exit.
“Y/N, I-I love you. I love you so much that just saying these words isn’t common for me, because after all these years of meaningless dates, hookups, and reckless partying, I think I see why love is very rare. I didn’t think I would ever fall in love, and I even trained myself not to either. My parents were the true definition and example of love, and with them gone, I suppose I really let myself fall more into the darkness and isolation than I ever thought I could reach. But knowing you, you just showed up in my life as sunshine; just bursting with energy and life in a room when all my life I felt alone. W-what I’m really trying to say is, I want us to give us a chance.”
I slowly look up at him. I instantly felt betrayed, as if this is just a joke. “You...want to date me?” I barely whisper.
“Of course, Y/N. I’m serious about this,” Bruce says, appearing as if I’ve offended him and doubted him. He looks distraught and anxious. “I’m-I’m in love with you. I want us to be together. Official.”
When those words leave Bruce’s mouth, I suddenly realize, he’s NEVER, EVER said those words before. The words sound raw and rare; like a child speaking for the first time in their lives.
The thought of being close to a man like Bruce sends waves of paranoia and fright throughout my body. The last time I was intimate or even lying next to a man resulted in nightmares and fears of being hurt all over again.
I was just a child when my father and uncle would come home from work drunk, and how they would request my little sister and I to climb in bed with them. Being the oldest, I tried my hardest to protect my sister, and I ended up fighting them back; defending us from their violent drunken behavior.
Which always resulted with me getting hit, slapped, kicked, and thrown to the ground. Even though I eventually learned to fight back, I would always panic and feel defenseless until I fight back.
But it would always come down to that first hit to the face that would make every memory and nightmare come back to life for me.
I can just feel my father’s fist striking my mouth again.
The pain feels real again.
“How could you be in love with me if you don’t know a thing about me?” I ask. I realize I sound harsh and bitter.
“What?”
“Let me just say one thing, Bruce. You don’t really know me, because I only let you see what I want you to see,” I snap. I fill with sudden anger and pain. If only Bruce knew the real me. If only Bruce saw what kind of pathetic mess I am. “Unlike you, your life is Gotham’s most known story of your parent’s generosity, luxury, and their deaths. You don’t have to hide anything. I myself, have to hide a lot just so I don’t lose my mind and get locked up in Arkham and so I don’t lose those closest to me because I’m a walking, fucking time-bomb. Do you know how hard it is to put on a strong, brave, face even when I want to cry and show everyone how hurt I am and how much pain I go through each day?! You don’t because your life is fucking perfect, so why don’t you leave me alone and go find the perfect girl because I’m too damaged to love and fix!”
The pain, anger, and fear take over me. I knock all glasses of wine and plates of food off the table and I storm out, leaving a poor, terrified Bruce Wayne behind.
I’m rushing down the sidewalk to go far away, anywhere from here. The tears fall down my cheeks, and I start to hate myself even more for letting my past get the best of me.
After everything that’s happened, I don’t think I’m fully capable of being in love, in a serious relationship, married, having children, or just a family in general.
Only good people have that; the people who were never hurt or touched dangerously in their whole lives.
Just when I think I’m far away, Bruce manages to catch up to me by running VERY fast. He grabs my arm to stop me, and just that forceful touch awakens something within me: I go into defense mode to protect myself.
Just like all those years ago.
“Don’t fucking touch me!” I yell. My fist makes a hard connection to Bruce’s jaw; knocking him to the ground.
People around are watching us; gasping and pointing at us. Bruce looks up at me and holds his jaw. “Ow...”
I begin to breathe heavily before I begin to cry again. Bruce immediately gets back on his and comes to me.
“Y/N...please tell me what’s bothering you,” Bruce says softly. He doesn’t lie a hand on me, but he’s watching me intently.
“My past. I-I can’t seem to move forward without having to be dragged back every mile,” I answer quietly.
“Is this about your father and uncle?”
My eyes widen. I look up at him. “How did you-”
“You talk in your sleep. I’ve heard you have nightmares before, and after listening and lying beside you for some time, I put the pieces together. They abused you, and you tried to get out,” Bruce admits, before he sighs. “The reason why I never told you I knew about it is because I wasn’t sure if telling you was...appropriate, and considering you never made the attempt to tell me yourself. I just...didn’t want to cross a line and make you feel more pain, but I suppose I fucked up by not saying anything.”
“It’s not your fault. I always figured, ‘why bring it up if you’re just going back to past when you just want to be here’...in the present,” I mutter under my breath.
I think back on the times Bruce and I would fall asleep on his couch. After our movie nights, I would fall asleep on his arm and he would hold me until the morning came. Ever since then, the couch has been like a bed to us; the closest to a bed we’d ever share.
“I’m sorry, Y/N. I-I didn’t know how much pain you’ve been in. But please let me help you,” Bruce begs, and reaches out to touch my hands but removes them quickly after what happened. “You don’t have to be alone during this time. Let me be there like you were there for me.”
“I’m never going to get better, Bruce. I have so many ugly scars, I could never be loved for who I am and what I've been through. After all this time, I thought I would be my best, but I ended up just getting worse. Maybe I should just give up and be at peace with myself for the first time in forever,” I whisper. “I’ll just keep trying again and again, because I don’t think there’s a reason to keep going forward, because I never will.”
Bruce’s mouth opens to speak, and the horror takes over his face when I find the little strength to stroll over to the street and walk into the fast driving cars in traffic in hopes of dying the quickest way possible.
A taxi is speeding down an open lane and is heading right for me. I stop in my tracks and look at the driver in hopes my past will never hurt me again.
Because I’ll be dead.
But strong arms pull me out of the way; knocking me and whoever saved me back onto the sidewalk. I’m on top of a big, hard body and the time I sit up to look down, I see Bruce, breathing hard.
“Y/N, are you okay?” Bruce asks me. He sits up as I stand up. Once he’s on his feet, he quickly removes us from the eyes of the public and we both head into an abandoned alleyway.
“I would have been okay, if you didn’t stop me,” I answer, slightly angry from him stopping me. “Why did you stop me, Bruce? Why can’t you just let me finally let go of everything?”
“Because if I lost you, I wouldn’t have a reason to go on either,” he says quietly. “Please don’t ever do that again. I-I can’t lose you. I need you in my life. I need you with me.”
“What about your sons? Alfred?”
“I love them, but I also love you too, Y/N. Dying...is never the answer. It’s darkness that you’re trying to escape, but no matter what, it will be with you forever. I’ve seen death, and I’ve also seen good people who allow the darkness and fear change them into people who could never be saved. I may not know everything that happened in your past, Y/N, but I know you’re stronger than you think you are. And you’re beautiful, Y/N. Everyone has ugly scars, including me. But if you managed to get this far in life, I would say that’s an accomplishment not many people can achieve,” Bruce says softly, before he finally holds my hands. I let him, and I let myself cry more. “Trust me, there were times I almost let my inner demons take over my life and emotions. I almost let go at a young age too. But then I have come to learn from an old friend that in every darkness, there’s light. You just have to find your light, and you’ll never be alone.”
I wipe my tears and smile up at him. “Alfred?” I ask.
“Yes, Alfred taught me that. Do you know who my light is?”
“Your sons? Alfred?”
“All of you,” Bruce answers.
“Even me? How?” I ask, completely shocked.
“Because after I met you, I...I felt normal. Human. I don’t have to try too hard with you, and I don’t have to put on a face of confidence and behave like I’m better than everyone. The playboy billionaire title doesn’t exist to me, because when I’m with you, I’m here with you, and that’s all that matters to me. I can laugh at stupid jokes. I can walk around in just a t-shirt and regular jeans around you. Hell, I can even talk shit about other celebrities with you. I can even tell you about my own nightmares, and how someday, I hope I really can make my parents proud of me. I trust you with all that and only you, Y/N,” Bruce reveals.
He finally takes the first step. Lowering his head to mine, he kisses me. Our lips connect like magnets, and the heat between us is hotter than hell, I believe. With one hand, Bruce holds my face gently, as the other holds my waist.
And for the first time in forever, I’m not afraid.
After Bruce pulls away, he looks down at me with a small smile. He pushes a strand of my hair behind my ear.
“I really care about you, Y/N. I love you, and if I have to wait a bit to be with you, then I’ll wait as long as I need to,” Bruce says.
“Thank you...for being patient with me and for just being there Bruce,” I say.
“I’ll always be here for you, because there’s nowhere else I rather be than be here with you, Y/N.”
“Same for me too,” I admit.
Bruce wraps an arm around me and leads me back to the restaurant. “How about pizza?” he asks curiously.
“And a movie?”
“Of course.”
“Will the boys be there?”
“Most likely but as soon as that movie ends, they’re gone. It’ll just be you, me, and my couch.”
I smile, a real smile that’s not forced for the first time in a long while. “I’d love that. I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
“I know what you mean,” Bruce whispers to me. “Because all I want is you here with me.”
“And I’ll be here with you every day.”
Was it good? Let me know please! I’m used to smut and I think it’s safe to say that this fic was a challenge but a good one!
